A quiet city that looks nice and even charming but not at the same spectacular level of other Norwegian wonders. Interesting to note the unusual number of crows everywhere in the urban environment, a feature that seems to be common in northern cities but rather unusual for southern europeans.

Take a stroll along the stone streets & wooden traditional houses of old Stavanger. Beautiful small gardens all over, decorated windows and a certain peace if you visit off season (winter). Just a step away from the harbor where boats stop.

Very friendly place with an incredible setting, the fjords are amazing and I would recommend anybody that is able should try and go. The tourist industry there is very geared but not pushy and the setting is incredible. Thank you for an incredible time!

A really pretty and old part of the city with these white houses and a lot of pretty plants growing there. It's close to the port where the huge passenger ships are landing, so there are days where a ship lies at the port a huge amount of people there. So I recommend visiting it when there is no ship there, to see the real beauty of this part of the town.

I was lucky enough to visit Stavanger on a recent holiday to Norway. I took a boat trip to Pulpit Rock, the scenary along the way was unforgettable, It is a place of outstanding natural beauty and so worth a visit whatever the season if you are ever in this part of Norway.

Small old town with beautifull white houses. You don't really need more than 15 minutes to see it all. Canning museum (in the center) is also recommendable to visit.

The Nieuw Statendam changed itinerary due to weather in the North Atlantic, and we made stopped for a day in Stavanger. The ship docked in a cool part of the city, Gamle Stavanger. We visited two museums in walking distance. Some good food and drink places too across waterway from ship dock. We would like to visit Stavanger again some day.

Hidden behind strandkaien rake the stairs up and walk a couple of hundred years back in time over wonderful cobblestone paths between beautiful white wood houses. Do beautiful. Respectful of people's properties!

It's the most beautiful port I've ever seen. Elegant and immaculate semi-modern shops selling beautiful attires and food joints to die for. The town is a perfect honeymoon hideout!

This is a small street of colourful houses just to pass through to get to the small town. There's not much to do here, unless you like you like to sit at a coffee shop and watch the world go by.

Absolutely stunning. This for us, made our visit. We walked about the streets for ages. Opposite the cruise terminal so handy if on a cruise. The town centre is really close by.

We did a cruise with Rodne for this in mid-April. Suggest to do the Pulpit hike and see it from the top vs the cruise. While the fjord is breathtaking, difficult to appreciate from the cruise. Felt more like a regular ocean cruise. Plus we got a very windy, very cold and rainy weather in mid-April, maybe later might be more enjoyable in sunny weather. The cruise also takes you mostly only towards the start-middle. We also did the Fjord cruise from Gudvangen to Flam, that felt more like a cruise in a fjord.

Wonderful visit up close and personal with the fjord and mountains.

By boat from Stavanger to the Lysefjord and back again. A very nice trip overlooking the beautiful wild nature of the fjord. Takes 3.5 hours and never bores for a moment. You can stay inside on the boat and enjoy fresh coffee with a cinnamon roll or go outside on the upper deck to see everything even better and get a nice breath of fresh air.

What makes this place so impressive is its breathtaking landscape we can look over on stop of the rock. You will enjoy the unforgetable scene from the rock.

Best place to travel near Stavanger in my opinion! Go terenie by ferry or on foot! You will made excellent Photoshop class as wallpapers!

We went through Lysefjord on a boat cruise from Stavanger. It was very beautiful, and hard to appreciate or envision the height until seeing other boats on the water. It was worth the trip as there were several beautiful sites along the way in addition to the general scenic fjord views.

Nice but over rated. Pulpit rock viewed from the bottom will be a real disappointment. Better to take the hike if you can. The cruise on a fast boat takes 3 hours. Better to go in the morning as the sun hits the rock straight on. We were lucky with a cloudless day in June but be prepared for wet raining cold day.

The Lyse fjord is yet another wonder of nature is this blessed part of Norway. It is definitely a must go if you are visiting Stavanger or surroundings. The boat tour provides some stunning visuals of the formations, including a close stop by a waterfall near by.

The boat trip starts at 10 am and lasts 3 - 3.5 hours for the round trip. Must visit place for all kind of tourists. There is a cafe with hot drinks inside a comfortable boat which fits more than 100 people at a time. Be prepared for some showers. Perhaps it is worth wearing a rain coat.

AMAZIIIIIING!! After my 4th hiking trip to Norway, I have never seen a more stunning spot in Norway as such. Lysebotn village is very beautifully located in a very picturisque place. You can hike to Peikestolen (Pulpit rock), Flørli 4444 wooden stairs, Kjeragbolten and Kalelli. You will be rewarded with amazing untouched beauty everywhere.

I visited this place back in Jun 2017. It was my first ever fjord visit! I took the Rodne Fjord Cruise's Pulpit rock cruise and hike package. The weather was not on my side that day with rain and clouds. But the skies cleared as we went into the fjord and I enjoyed it thoroughly! Its absolutely beautiful.

This is a great museum filled with interesting exhibits and information about the oil industry in Norway. We have visited it 4 times and enjoyed it on all occasions. Our most recent visit was especially enjoyable due to the additional dinosaur exhibition. My boys and I loved it.

Amazing experience of exploring the petrol industry in Norway. Many great interactive "games". I was amazed by the diving "suites" and saddened by the information about accident which happened in 1980. Great place to visit, especially when it's raining. You can easily spend here couple of hours.

One of the best museums we've visited in ages. Lots of interesting things to see plus lots of interactive experiences from dressing up in emergency gear to climbing into escape pods and sitting in control chairs. I think my favourite were the various things you could make go bang!

My third visit here, last time 4-5 years ago. I really appreciate some of improvements, like dinosaurs, to make it more interesting also for kids. Absolutely MUST SEE, when You visit Stavanger!

This is a good museum for both children and adults. The models are fantastic. And there's a hologram room that we spent a half hour in easy but could have spent longer. It was just so cool. The day we attended, there was a theater show and it missed the mark on educational value (the message was mixed too, whether oil had been good or bad for Norway). There is also a large dinosaur portion but none of the dinosaurs on display have anything to do will oil or Norway so it's a little confusing. I understand it as an attraction for kids, but there must be other ways to engage children on oil than just dinosaurs. Oh well, they were cool to look at but I think they detracted from the rest of the museum.

It is a unique museum - it tells the story of the city from the perspective of the oil and oil industry, which dominates Stavanger. But it is a tough sell - trying to give a positive spin to the major cause of the climate change is not an easy task for sure. The staff are friendly, exhibits are well done and very informative. It includes interactive exhibits that are cool too. If you have time to spare, it is definitely worth a visit.

Lots to see and do. It's very interactive and lots of fun. Interesting exhibits...you can wear survival gear, get into a life pod, sit in the drillers chair....really fascinating stuff. Kids loved it too!

Surprisingly interesting, gives a real insight into the history of oil rigs and how it has affected Norway financially. Great indoor kids climbing frame and interactive exhibits, although we had to ask for help the scavenger hunt! 6 year old enjoyed. Big playground out front as well. Playground is free to visit and the toilets inside the museum are accessible without needing a ticket.

Very beautiful and well laid out museum! You get to learn a lot about the Norwegian oil industry and get a sense of how immense the oil platforms are!

Lots of great exhibits with lots of details, but not knowing anything about oil and gas extraction, I sometimes missed a high level overview. Cool dinosaur exhibit too.

Exceptionally well made museum that is definitely worth the admission fee. You can tell they've put effort in making and maintaining it. There's a vast amount of drilling equipment on display, as well as many interactive displays and informative shows on a broad range of topics encompassing environmental conservation efforts and technology. If you're interested how Norway became as wealthy of a country as it is, you'll find all the answers you need here. Strongly recommend it.

If you've ever wanted to know what life is like on an oil rig and how it is extracted, this is the place to go. There is also a display about climate change and alternative means of power generation. The escape chute from the oil rig is fun - though maybe best left for the younger generation. It is easy to spend an hour or two and it should interest all ages. There is a small shop, café and toilets.

Very cool museum. We spent there about 3 hours. They also have some activities for kids (playground, also kids can touch and try different showpieces).

Very informative museum about the relationship of Norway finding petroleum. This changed the whole economy of Norway. Very good information about the whole petroleum process from in the earth to point of use.

Blessed country, Norway. We distribute wealth to the people using sovereign wealth funds. Find out why this was possible here. It is worth seeing as the only oil museum in the world. This is a must-see course in Stavanger.

If you feel the drive for knowledge, want to read everything and experience all the possible exhibits, don't come here without minimum of 3 hours of time! Very interesting piece of the Norwegian oil history. I can always recommend a place that acknowledges both the positive impact for the economy and wellbeing of Norwegians as well as the climate repercussions we are experiencing right now. Definitely give it a go if you're around in Stavanger.

This place was so peaceful. My friends and i we went for pictures and we bring the dog! The structure is so huge and there is a beautiful creek on the side! Nice place for visiting in Norway/Stavanger!

Monument Swords in rocks is nice to stop by place when you are in Stavanger (or close by). The monument has a meaningful history which is nice to read about when you are there.

You can see many people trying to take the photos of these huge swords. it is very popular place, and there is also beach next to the threeswords, although it is a bit small, it is very nice place to sit and relax. İn addition there is a small cafe around and you can find good ice cream and coffee.

Beautiful view. Peaceful at times to sit and think. You could swim, have a walk, and bike along the water front.

A gem of a kind for tourists and maybe also for the local people. you truly be mesmerized by the beauty of the vicinity where the wideness of the sky and the ocean meets together to portray something divine. The calmness wave and the breeze will sooth you and you'll have a great time there. A perfect place to hang around and forget the monotony of everyday life.

Nice monument dedicated to unity of Norway. Commemorative of a battle which united Norway under King Harald Fairhair.

Imposing, interesting monument, and great green space to eat lunch. There is a 9 kilometre heritage trail that starts here, moving around the coast past a variety of Norwegian cultural heritage sites. There were zero tourists on the trail, only locals walking their dogs, and you get a sense for Norwegian life as you walk along the boathouses.

Lovely place to take some pictures, and if the weather is good you can even swim

Very nice Monument for the battle that united Norway into one kingdom. There is a small parking lot to stop and two small beaches. Very nice viewpoint. The swords are actually bigger than they appear in the fotos. If you are in Stravanger you should stop by here.

What an amazing sight to see. These bronze swords are roughly 50ft tall and 5ft wide at the stone. They are truly a masterpiece.

There might not be a lot to do, but the ample free parking spaces make it convenient. The location is right next to an ice cream stand and a beautiful local beach. The area is abundant in wildlife, and the waters, although crystal clear, are rocky. It's a lovely spot for photo!

It was a lovely day, so we walked to the monument from the cruise terminal. It was probably about a 3.5m walk there, and the route also took us past some lovely houses, and a beautiful park. There were quite a few people there, all interested in getting their photos of course. We also walked back, but for those not wanting to walk, there are buses available to take you there, and back.

Emblematic place in Stavanger. Obligatory stop if you are visiting or going to visit. On warmer days is the most enjoyable...so don't forget your towels and swim a little on this little beach 😎.

You can tell it's old (XII century) and very authentic, even if not the grandest you have been to. Some very interesting details inside, such as wooden sculptures and stained glasses.

Very interesting spot. Construction going on when we visited, on the outside facade, but inside still very accessible, although stain glass windows also removed for renovation going on. Worth the small price for admission, just a nice very old church.

More impressive inside that it is outside. Norway's oldest cathedral (not including the stave churches). Free for kids 12 and under.

Amazing place to visit. Really nice and peaceful. You can have a great time looking at this beautiful Cathedral learning from it's history and enjoying the amazing decorations.

I always love going to these places as I travel. They tell a story about the history of the people that settled there and the art and sculptures are just fantastic. The people were extremely friendly as well.

If visiting Stavanger, one must put the cathedral on the to do list. It is older than Notre Dame. A very impressive building. It does cost 50 krone per person to enter but worth the price.

Extremely old. Awesome carvings. And loved the fact that while the stained glass windows are being restored they have been replaced by paper designs by local students. Right in the centre so no trouble to find.

Variety of exhibitions. Don't miss the old house where historical setup is preserved. Worth the visit, and if you've been to other Stavanger museums then either free or half price

Very interesting museum(s), once through the Printing exhibits I understood the tie to canning-labels, sales material and advertising. Well laid out exhibit of the history and evolution of the fishing, canning and sardine industry. Had a great lunch in the cafe!

A nice and cozy place preserved just the way it was from 19th century. The historical canning musuem might sound funny but it’s actually very interesting to see how sardines were being packaged and sold in the local market. Also the technology itself is very fascinating and beholds an interesting historical background. Also, the museum is preserved in the house of one of the farmer and that is kind of special too. The location of museum is right in the city center so, it can be one of the lookout points for people traveling via cruise. Plus they have special discounts for students and senior citizens.

Fascinating insight into the canning industry. We were lucky enough to see some of the machines in action. The ticket also got us into the adjoining museum about the printing industry.

Good museum which we enjoyed having a quick look around and daughter liked playing with all the rubber fish. Not sure why I had to leave my bag behind but at least they had lockers. If you only have time for one museum though, the oil-rig one is even better!

A unique museum that gives you lots of insight into Norway’s history of canning sardines, which lasted for about 100 years. Make sure you follow a tour (free) around the museum because the context the employee provides really brings the history to life (or else you might be a bit confused navigating through the space yourself). Don’t miss the video at the end which shows real footage from the early 1900s!

Interesting exhibits and had the paper museum linked with the canning museum. Didn't spend too long as there weren't too many interactive exhibits.

7 of us visited together. The place is fantastic and the staff are incredible. Piers, in particular, was a lovely chap who turned on an old canning machine for us to demonstrate it working and opened up one of the smokers so we could have a look. Don't miss the little house at the back from the ground floor. It's called No. 28 (or something like this). A gem.

Finally got all the explanations how sardines ( and other foodstuff) get into the can. Located in an original factory this museum is definitely worth a visit. The labels of the cans are an artform in it's own form.

I learned so much about Canning sardines and about the graphic designs on the cans. The museum has so much good information about the Canning sardines. And so much local history.

We purchased tickets for the Maritime Museum and the receipt gave us free entry to the Iddis which is a typography museum and also the canning museum💕 It was awesome and had so much information. Very visually appealing. I love the canning museum & all the olden time machinery👍🏼

We got tickets for entry as part of the maritime museum, and had 1hr to fill. But we were pleasantly surprised how good the museum was. The printing part was really informative and very interesting to understand how printing and fishing and canning went together. The canning museum was brilliant and was very hnafs on being set up like a canning factory. Staff were super friendly, and the cafe looked great too.

I have been there today with my partner and we loved it. Loved it all just until right the very end. It started so smoothly, free entry as students, very kind personnel, amazing looking museum, very entertaining explanations from the personnel. Everything is clean, tidy, and awesomely designed. It is so clever the transition they do, from the origin of calligraphy to the design and printing on the cans. It is about sardines and their labels. But then, at the end, the souvenirs store sells plastic wrapped sardines. It was all about the label, cool labels. So then why the plastic ?

Very good place to learn about history of stavanger. It was very interesting to know about the life of Norwegians 200 years ago. There is a guide and we can also dress ourselves like those labourers who worked in the early days. It was fun and we could experience how they worked. We could see and experience every step in the process from fishing, cleaning, cooking and packing. We could also taste some baked sardines. Must visit place in stavanger. Entry Ticket price 110 - 140 for elders and Kids below 6 is free.

It’s a shame for Stavanger to host such huge boats directly in the city center. People come to visit the old town but can’t take any picture without a cruise ship as background. Strolling through Stavanger is like Disneyland. Is mass tourism the future for Stavanger ?

As bus ticket to Preikestolen had been sold out, I asked for this information. But he told me only one agent to go there and was not available for several months. And then finally I checked various sites, and booked ferry and bus combination tours by NORRED. Be careful to book bus ticket early before sold out.

A usefully placed tourist information office with helpful, English-speaking staff and plenty of maps. Also a small shop with souvenirs to purchase. Would recommend a visit if it’s your first time in Stavanger. Located next to the cruise dock.

They were incredibly helpful. We spoke with Eugenia because we were struggling to fins transportation to where we needed to go kayaking. She not only help us get in contact with the place we were headed to, which they were not answering to us, but also she helped us booking an alternative activity!

Definitely the place to go if you're new to Stavanger. The friendly staff helped me with everything I wanted to know and offered helpful insights and advice. I was helped by the lovely Kelly, who also loves to hike. She definitely made my stay in Stavanger a lot more interesting with her recommendations for sightseeing.

Very good and helpful staff. We were in Stavanger on 12.2022. Due to flight delays we missed our already booked excursion to Preikestolen. Unfortunately, we couldn't find any other excursions online during our stay in Stavanger. Luckily we asked here and we got an excursion for the next day

+ nice location, good meals and fast barkeepers, large parking spot - small room with just windows at the roof, a lot of helicopter traffic (also at night), CC Amex is not usable (but it was possible for our company to do a reservation with it), it was impossible to get a regular invoice (on two different days)

Hotel with Spa and nice restaurant. Ideal for weddings in summer as the location is at Sola Beach. This time we tried the Sunday Buffet. Food was good. Nevertheless we were sat alone in one room. Discriminating? Or just booking order? Anyways beach is always nice. Bare in mind wind is always present and water temperature not necessarily for bathing. Kids can enjoy a football area outside aswell. And there is also kayaks and water activities center available.

Great beach view and close to the airport Food is good, spa, but the best part is the beach walks and ever changing waves and view. The long sola beach is great for a morning run or walk.. and during summer you can enjoy warmer water. Stavanger is the oil capital of Norway and it shows. You can spot helicopters going out in the morning to the oil fields out there, and coming back at night, tankers waiting for load offshore, and big suppliers passing going to and from. Enjoy! If you need a conference for work their conference room has an abdolute amazing sea view.. great go make tiering corporate babbel bearable.. recommended

Great rooms, ours didn’t have a water kettle but had a Nespresso machine instead. I think that might be a bad call, the Nespresso should be in addition to, not instead of a kettle. Breakfast was okay, but they were working in the main hall, making entrance to the breakfast difficult plus adding a lot of noises to the otherwise pleasant meal. I get that it’s necessary but still ruins the experience. But all in all I recommend this hotel

The room in the new section was very large and clean. There was no view except for some large blocks of concrete. Still, the bed was comfortable as were the pillows. The 8 or 9 Norwegian t.v. channels on offer could do with some updating. There is a 2 minute walk to an immaculate beach that Rhode Islanders would die for and someone in reception brought us up an ice bucket.

Sola Strand Hotel exceeded my expectations. The stunning coastal views from the hotel are breathtaking. The elegant and comfortable rooms, coupled with exceptional service, made my stay truly enjoyable. The on-site dining was a culinary delight, showcasing local flavors. Whether for a relaxing getaway or an eventful vacation, Sola Strand Hotel is an impeccable choice.

A was not there at a particularly good day regarding weather but the location is clearly extremely lovely. It is a very Norwegian hotel and I don't think you could find a much better example. It has character and several especially nice areas including a decent bar and breakfast area. The breakfast is superb and I have not had a better buffet experience anywhere. The ingredients are top quality and in perfusion. The breakfast alone takes my rating of the hotel to the 5 star marking.

A great hotel by the Sola beach and close to the airport. The restaurant here serves great food. I am always satisfied whenever I eat here.

The spa is world class! Absolutely relaxing and the facial treatments are next level, really good firm massage! Another great point is that they don't try to push products on to you to buy, I love that! I am there to relax, not to be sold things. Highly recommend

This historical hotel has been a favourite place for us for 20+ years. Great food, located next to sandy beach, very good service, and plenty of service offers. Highly recommended

My recent visit to the spa left much to be desired, especially considering the price tag of 450,-. The facility, though functional, felt outdated and desperately in need of a revamp. One of the highlights from a previous visit, the availability of foot salts in the morning, was sorely missed this time around, along with the absence of complimentary fruit and water. Inside the spa, the shortage of towels was apparent, leading to a scavenger hunt for replacements, exacerbated by the unmanned front desk until 11:00. It seems like they cut corners with cheap options, trying to mask it from the clientele. The quality of offerings, such as the Kjeldsberg coffee, left much to be desired, especially considering the steep price of 44,- for an americano. Even a local bean would have been a welcome upgrade. The exorbitant cost of a 0,33 cola at 64,- only added insult to injury, showcasing a glaring markup. The demeanor of the bar staff mirrored the lackluster experience, with little enthusiasm, but one can hardly blame them if they're subjected to the same subpar coffee. Despite these shortcomings, the company of good friends salvaged the experience. However, there is significant room for improvement. My suggestions include enhancing cleanliness, addressing maintenance issues like wall repairs, ensuring an adequate supply of towels, and better advertisement of the unmanned desk downstairs. In conclusion, while the spa / hotel bar managed to provide a passable experience, it falls short of justifying its inflated prices. With some necessary improvements, it has the potential to regain its appeal and offer a more satisfying experience to its patrons.

We stayed at the hotel for one night with a group of friends. We had several activities booked and planned throughout the day. The staff were extremely helpful, rooms were excellent and the surfing instructor was patient and skillful. Great food, with knowledgeable and polite waiters made the dining experience supreme. Would love to visit again :)

Totally adequate rooms in a hotel thats been gradually extended. The hotel is really a cluster of buildings including conference rooms and other facilities. The included breakfast is excellent and the bar was really nice. Of course,, the big selling point is the location: right on the beach. Wonderful for windy walks to watch the surfers or the helicopters!

Our room 1227 was ok and could use some updating. Why we gave a one star for service was we pre ordered our early breakfast the morning prior to departure as we had an early flight. My wife went to the front desk about 20 minutes before final checkout to confirm our early breakfast and when she went back to retrieve the early breakfast from the front desk staff he said the kitchen forgot. Not great service! In addition, the fire alarms in all the buildings went off early in the morning because of the rain. Attention definitely needs to be placed on this potential safety issue.

The highest Quality Hotel located right beside a beautiful Sola Beach ♡... I had a flight at 6 am and thanks to this quality Hotel's early bird 4am breakfast option I didn't fly hungry!. 2nd time staying here. I thought the 1st time was an anomoly but same thing this time round. Relatively convenient for the airport. Nice reception / lobby, but rubbish bedroom. Cheap laminate floor and single bed with a thin mattress. No bedside locker, nor place to charge your phone next to the bed. The entire building is reminiscent of an 1970s student hostel, prefabricated elsewhere before election on site.

We liked it here! The first part of the museum gives you a good idea of the city maritime history. On the second floor is a beautifully made children area. On the third floor you get a notion about the life and work conditions of the workers there. The ticket price was affordable and gives you access to other museums. The kids get free access to.

Staff were very helpful. It is a great nautical and local history museum. Most exhibit placards are in Norwegian, but staff provide a booklet with English translations (or use Google translate's camera feature.) Be sure to check out the building construction itself, as it is very old and impressive. The tide prediction machine is an incredibly sophisticated analog computer built in 1947 which created tide tables until retired in the 1970s. It is worth the admission price alone. Hang on to your admission receipt as it gets you free entry into the Canning museum and a variety of other locations in Stavanger on the same day. I believe admission is half off if you already visited the petroleum museum on the same day. Just show your receipt.

Very friendly staff and a well put together exhibit. If you're tall you'll have to watch out for your head^^ They also have a booklet with englisch translations for the exhibit.

This is such a cute place. There's so much to learn here. There's a lush play area for kids to use with built in features like a ship and a wooden shop with lots of play items. The museum is reasonably priced for a family, and allows re-entry into the museum. Very useful for the play area for kids! I would pop here again

Really interested museum. The downstairs exhibition gave a good overview of the history and people of Stravanger. The upstairs consisted of a children's playroom including shop, boat and dress up equipment. The third floor was a mock-up on how the building would have been used with the kitchen, office, living room, etc. Price was really reasonable, as ticket also gives access to 4 other Stravanger museums.

I've been wanting to go here since we arrived. I love this place. I love the ocean and all things maritime. A lot of artifacts that are well mixed with the history and even a few videos. It has a good walking/pathway flow. I'll be back😊

This is an interesting museum with some of the insightful events from the history of Stavanger. Also, the nicely designed boats and cruises can be interesting to look at. The downside of this museum is that they don’t have the English translations of the events. Nonetheless, the museum still remains very unique and influential to look at!

A good museum showing the history of Stavanger and it's link to the fishing and oil industries. The building is also very interesting with examples of a shop, office and home. My only request is for more information in English. I can read a basic level of Norwegian, but some of the text was very detailed - more translations would have been appreciated.

Really fun museum for kids! I was not expecting it to be so child friendly, but there is a huge room for make believe play with a boat and a food shop, bank, and post office and tons of dress up clothes. My 7 year old didn't want to leave! Highly recommend to stop by when you have museum tickets for the Stavanger Children's Museum or Canning Museum since one tickets gets you into all the museums in a day.

Quaint but well laid out museum. Nothing mind blowing but has some interesting exhibits on viking history and the stone age, cultic and ritualistic worship to early gods.

Lovely bit of history of the Vikings. I could have spent hours and hours in this place just taking every single bit in of what they have of the vikings. It is filled with allsorts of items and skeletons. They have colllected a whole lot, this place is worth coming to visit if ever in the area. There is also a lovely cafe situated in the building if you need to take a break before taken on the reminder of the museum. To make it even more worth while there is a gift shop as your on the way out to take some valuable gifts home to remember this amazing visit.

Very nice museum, with a lot of interesting history. Also, big bonus, a video of a beautiful woman dancing naked projected on to the wall and floor. We couldn’t figure out how she fit in, but regardless, a welcome addition! She was stunning. I watched the video three times. Didn’t learn much from it, but definitely enjoyed it.

Small but very well maintained museum. You can get a family ticket (2 adults + 3 kids) that also includes the Iron farm. There is an activity sheet that kept the kids entertained the entire time. The play area in the basement was also fun. Took us around one hour to visit.

Had a trip booked for months with P&O, with plans to go last Monday, only to be notified the very night before that the museum was closed due to building work. (Bit strange how nobody knew that last week!). Very disappointing to say the trip to the archeology museum was meant to be one of the highlights of our cruise, as well as looking forward to it for months!

This was a very welcome visit from the UK organized by our tour company . I was provided with a great deal of information about early Viking history and contributions to society. Well worth a visit.

Hello, Small museum, some interesting items on displays, covers the stone and bronze ages. I have spent around 1-1.5h to look at the exhibits without any hurry and read the descriptions. The items are usual for the timelines: flint and bronse daggers, arrowheads, some utensils etc. Still allows to envisage the life of people in that region. A ticket costs 100NOK to enter, well, British Musem is free and much larger, but who I am to complain!? :) There is a cafe and gift shop onsite. This is the gateway to the open air museum Iron Age farm. At the visitor center you can buy tickets, have a snack in the cafe and take a look at some of the artefacts that have been found at the farm. If you are interested in history you might also want to stop by Museum of Archaeology in downtown Stavanger.

Very delicious food, tastes like an authentic Italian kitchen. I especially liked the Carbonara and the Teramissu. The waiter was very nice and polite.

I first went to Olivia in Oslo and was pleasantly surprised to see a location here. Lovely central location. The service was quick and friendly. Pasta and pizza were delicious. Food is consistently good from Olivia’s. Good solid Italian option. Super family friendly and great for bigger parties as well. They have tons of nice seating space.

Great place to eat in the heart of Stavanger! We loved the atmosphere and the cozy furniture outside. The food was delicious and we got free water aswell.

The place itself looks nice, and the food is tasty, but it took absolute ages to get it. The rest of my party had more or less finished eating their food when mine finally arrived. Also, they don't really have much in ways of vegan options, if you also have other dietary restrictions (gluten-free for example). Our friend ended up having olives for dinner and nothing else, as this was the only thing they could offer her.

Good food at affordable prices. I went there for two days in a row during my business trip. Menu is limited but you won’t leave this place hungry. Also, stuff is friendly and helpful.

The outside and inside of Olivia is wonderful. The service really lacked. We were sat in a corner and kind of forgotten about. We ordered drinks and an appetizer together. They brought our appy before the drinks were even brought to our table. We never had any napkins or cutlery. We received our main courses. My salad seemed to be premade. The chickenbreast didn’t seem fresh and everything was cold. Even the foccacia bread on my salad. I was expecting for these prices a warm chicken breast from the grill and warm bread. I had to hunt down the waitress to get more drinks. We were never checked on the see if everything was fine. Overall I would not recommend going her for the food but the atmosphere and location are great.

I loved this place for the atmosphere and service. Came here twice while on a vacation. On thing was that the same sandwich with prosciutto - one day was warm and the other day was very cold, all the ingredients. When you drink a coffee with it, the temperature difference is just too much. But the service was lovely, the second time I came same waitress suggested the same table, and it had a great view.

As Italian born and raised, I am very strict with "Italian food". Here I couldn't find dishes that were actually original, but I appreciated the honesty and irony of the waiter. It's not Italian food but it's "Italian food for Norwegians". Reading the menu made me cry but the pizza I picked was not awful. The place was clean and cosy, I really enjoyed my stay and I got to spend a nice night in a relaxing and calm place. Music was not so loud, so it was possible to communicate with my partner without having to scream, and the atmosphere was cool. The staff was nice and quick, the food came at the right time and once I recovered from seeing chicken on pizza and pasta or cream in the carbonara, I actually enjoyed my stay. Recommended for the atmosphere and staff, definetly not recommended for NOT authentic italian food.
