The history and the heart of the Order of Saint John! Absolutely stunning cathedral! Definitely you won't want to miss it! The artwork is incredible! The audioguide will tell the story of the cathedral, believe me it is very exciting! Every chapel worth a separate tour! I love come there!

Very beautiful inside. The floor is amazing. It was crowded with people on a Monday morning. Not too big, less than an hour is enough for a visit. If you don't buy your tickets online you'll need to queue up for entering, so better buy tickets online. If your shoulders are visible they'll give you a sheet to cover them while you are in.

Beautiful Co-Cathedral, the building outside looks simple, but inside is really beautiful, every single detail of it's architecture. Ask for the audio guide in the entrance because is included with the ticket. Try to dedicate at least 1 hour and a half to learn about the history of this building and the participation of the knights. Here you will see one of the Master piece of Caravaggio.

It’s very stunning cathedral that I have seen across Europe. Each chapel has a unique story to tell. And the audio guide is quite detailed. But the problem is at the entrance. Some people are given headphones and some are not given and also spoke to almost rudely! Many like me complained. So the entrance was a disappointment but inside is beautiful 😍

A remarkable cathedral, unique to Valletta, Malta. Its exquisite craftsmanship is truly awe-inspiring. The surrounding neighborhood exudes vibrancy and lively energy. While there is an admission fee, the experience is undeniably worthwhile. We visited this place from the cruise port terminal through walking via a lift that cost 1€ up and down. The walk was about 20 minutes each way.

A must to visit in Valletta, the entrance fee completely worth it. The colors and details of the architecture inside are gorgeous. An audio guide is included and it’s very nice and helpful to understand the history.

The cathedral is the only place that delights and tells the story of Malta. Really unique, with rich decorations, frescoes, paintings and sculptures. A unique and exceptional place that should be (for me) in the first place. Since August is absolutely drought all over Malta, the views are not very pleasing to the eye. The cathedral definitely pleases the eye, there is one downside, on Wednesday it is too hot, the whole crowd of visitors was wet like in a sauna, fans placed in many places did not cool. 1h hour, with automatic gid (in many languages).

It was beautiful inside, with so much art and such amazing architecture. Also, you have to enter dress decently. This means covered shoulders and reasonably long bottoms. There are paintings by Caravaggio that are huge. Don’t forget to look up and down inside, as there is art EVERYWHERE. There is also a crypt and a prayer room. You can only go in the prayer room to pray, the energy is so strong and intense. You are only allowed in to pray, please don’t take any pictures of the praying room, that will mess it up. It was beautiful in this cathedral. Don't miss it when you come to malta.

With over 16000s reviews, I don't think I'll add anything new. I would just double-check that the times it opens and work on going to see it. I mistakenly thought it would be open later in the days, so I had to rush in to see the caravaggio (only signed work by the artist... look at the saint's blood). Audio tour is included in the price. Might be in my top three cathedrals (westminster Abby and Sienna Cathedral)

Amazing. Really impressive. From the outside you would say it is very humble, but once you enter, it is completely baroque. It has so many details. Completely worth the 15 euros for the ticket.

nice place, attractive and very interesting to learn history and admire a work of art, but you cannot pay 35 euros per person to see a church, it is something that I will never understand, it is not that the church invites people as if Was it the second house of Christians? because they charge such a price and they don't even offer you a glass of water to at least receive good attention, not even that. After the price of admission, it seems to me that the place is very good, but there are times that the price makes the most of it as well. I would like to return one day and be able to enter and if they charge, it should be a cheap “alms”. in the same way everything is expensive in malta it should be clarified

St. John’s Cathedral is one top 3 highlights of Valletta and Malta for me. Impressive architecture and finishing. Lots of amazing paintings and sculptures. Great way to experience history. I loved the fact that there are audio guides made available for each visitor. The only original painting of Caravaggio with his own hand written signature is there. 😍

We are not religious but we appreciate the history and architecture of some churches and Cathedrals. The Cathedral in Valletta is the most spectacular one we have ever been in. It's absolutely stunning and well worth a visit. When you visit you must cover your shoulders and shawls are provided. There is a balcony which gives you an amazing view but there are 45 steps up to it. There is a charge for visitors.

We visited Valletta in the middle of summer, august. The city Valletta is very beautiful and charming. A train goes to aquarium, many attractive souvenir stands and off-the-cut performances. I was impressed of Caravaggio‘s artworks in Saint John’s co-cathedral. There’s more to this than meets the eye.

An absolutely stunning building. It doesn't matter if you're religious or not, this place is just breathtaking. From sculptures and detail to Caravaggio's art work, there are so many things to look at and admire. As this is a place of worship, please make sure your shoulders are covered. No vests or strappy tops. However, shawls are available.

Such a magnificent and impressive place. Don’t let the simple façade fool you. Such a great contrast from the outside architecture and inside decorations. The audio guide was also helpful. But the guide arrangements was not very clear and logical to follow. Staffs were very willing to help however. Would strongly recommend when you’re in Malta

One of the must visit places in Malta. It’s one of the nicest cathedrals I have ever been and seen. Entrance is around 12€ for students. You don’t wait long for entrance. Inside is also one chapel dedicated to Caravaggio and his artwork is amazing.

But what truly stole my breath away were the two masterpieces by Caravaggio—paintings that seem to transcend time and space. The audio guide is a true asset. It seamlessly weaves historical context and artistic nuances, enriching the visitor's experience. The cathedral can get crowded, especially during peak hours. However, the throng of fellow admirers somehow adds to the sense of shared wonder. Children under 12 can explore this treasure trove for free.

Magnificent cathedral of Maltase order. The entrance is paid but it is really worth a visit despite the elevated entrance fee. Perhaps from outside it doesn't look amazing but inside rich decorations and precious materials have been used which are giving astonishing look to all the interiors. This is definitely a must see in Malta & Valletta.

Visited as it was recommended. Great if you love religious history and gold. I will say it was lovely and so much detail you can't take it all in. I did find it a little pricy for what it was €15 each. You can do an additional tour for an extra €5 but the tour was every hour or so.

I have visited many cathedrals and centres of worship around the world and can honestly say I have never seen one so opulently decorated as St. John's Co-Cathderal in Valetta. The amount of gold guild and the artwork is fantastic and completely overwhelming. I could visit every day for a year and still find something different to see. Astounding.

Beautiful church set in the center of Valletta. The interior is impressive in its opulence with gold pretty much everywhere. However, the most impressive sight is the Caravaggio, reputedly the largest in the world.

It was €57 for our family of 4 to go. Buy tickets in advance on their website to save time in line. The Cathedral is impressive. Be sure to cover shoulders, mid section, and knees before you go otherwise you get a paper scarf to wear.

Nice church, worth the visit and the €15 entrance. Audio guide is a bit outdated and long texts, but gives interesting information if you have the patience to listen. The Caravaggio room = amazing, same for the barrel ceiling! Women or people with visible shoulders have to wear a small piece of paper which is super useless and same for the reason being “out of respect” while there are dozens of tourists and it’s clearly made an attraction. But, worth the visit.

A beautiful, very attractive garden at the top of Valletta, with incredible views. I think the best views of Valletta as well as across to the Three Cities. There are plenty of opportunities for stunning photographs, particularly around the two rows of stone archways at the back. There are public loos and a kiosk for refreshments and food. I found the Lower Barrack Gardens to be more beautiful and peaceful, and certainly less people, but the Upper Gardens have a ‘Saluting Battery’ which features a gun that is fired at midday and at 4pm everyday except Sundays which is certainly a spectacle to be seen. To view the gun being fired in the Saluting Battery, tickets are 3 euros per adult, otherwise you can stand on the balcony above it (through the archways) and have a good view - though worth getting there early as people line up quickly along the balcony, and so you might not have a clear view if you arrive late.

Decent little park, nice view… there’s cannons that go off once a day I heard, there’s a cafe… a few cute cats… and horse drawn carriages offering city tours just outside the gates.

We visited the gardens today to watch the cannon fire and had a good time. The gardens are located above the harbour and provides the best views of the 3 cities. The place is full of memorials and monuments of icons like Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill and Thomas Maitland. Recommend visiting at noon for firing of cannons so that the visit covers everything.

A beautiful garden at the top of Valletta, with incredible views to the Three Cities which are across. Upper Barrakka Gardens have a ‘Saluting Battery’ which features a gun that is fired at 12am and at 4pm every day except Sundays which is certainly a spectacle to be seen. To watch the gun firing in the Saluting Battery, tickets are €3 per adult, otherwise you can stand on the balcony above it and have a better view. It is good to arrive 5 to 10 minutes early for a better view. I expected him to shoot from both cannons because he loaded them, but I don't know why he shot only one. There is a boy at the exit who collects money because they are an independent organization.

Cute place. Small little garden with good view of the harbour. It has a lift to help people coming from the other entrance. People come to rest and chill here and appreciate the view. It has a cafe inside which is nice to have a cold drink until the next stop.

This area is ideal to rest at especially during warmer months. The trees provide shade. The are plenty of benches that could accommodate 4 people that are around the garden. The sound of splashing water from the fountain is a delight to listen to whilst resting and enjoying a snack. The view overlooking the harbour is fabulous.

This place is stunning. The view is amazing and you can walk around the garden and have a drink at the bar. If you take elevator you can catch a ferry to Three Cities. It is worth to visit. Nice place to take pictures.

A nice little garden with beautiful views over the harbour. It's in the centre of Valetta and easily reachable by foot. There is a gun salute all Mondays - Saturdays at 12pm. The Upper Barrakka lift can be accessed from here. It is free to go down but a ferry ticket needs to be shown to come up again. You will see a lot of stray cats in the bush resting and do not disturb them. Also, check out the film trail in the centre of the garden to see where some of the famous movies were filmed. You could spend an easy few hours in the garden for the photographic spot and a must do if you are in the city.

Lovely place to sit, have a drink or a bite to eat. There is a restaurant with outdoor seating. A great place to walk around and take in the views of the island from within Valletta's walls. You have to experience it at night as well, the city is lit up and it's really impressive.

Outside of the scheduled battery firing, it is really the view of the Three Cities that takes your breath away. The park itself and the botanical life wasn’t well maintained but perhaps because it was midsummer’s hottest day. I recommend going to the elevator on the corner of the park and go down to the sea level… give you that fresh perspective compare to up top! Recommended for that generic but very beautiful photo of the skyline across Valetta’s eastern shore!

A beautiful place with amazing story. I highly recommend to see a show at noon! It was pretty interesting to see. It's easy to get there by walk, in the early April there were a lot of people so in the summer time in must be really crowded but anyway it's worth to see.

Cannon salutation was cool to watch. You smell the gunpowder in the air which is cool. It is at 16:00 every day, so get a spot on the upper terrace 30 mins before, gets crowded.

Nice view. Every day, at noon you can see the Gun Salute. It gets pretty crowded, but I think the best view is from the garden. Also you can observe the Grand Harbour and Three Cities. Also while you are there, take a look on the elevator.

Relatively small gardens with a cafe which leads onto the walls overlooking Valetta harbour. An absolutely incredible view and one that I will always remember (There is also a plaque denoting locations that have been used for past films which I found super interesting)

The bunker is well equiped with all the uniforms and all the medals, all the periods when Malta joined or impacted a war. The main rooms of operations are quite an impressive place to be with the guide James. One of the best aspects of the tour is James when starts to tell the story of each room very detailed and with demonstration how all worked. It was a wonderful experience full of history and new information about Malta and how they manage to play a very important role in WW2 due to Operation Husky "Invasion of Sicily"

Very interesting place to visit if you enjoy history. My wife and I were able to join the guided tour, given by Mike, which was very detailed. Mike was a font of knowledge and happy to answer questions and engage with the tour group. There are a good amount of stairs throughout so it probably isn't wheelchair accessible. Lockers are available free of charge. Gift shop stocked with lots of relevant books. Toilets not on site but about 200 metres away.

Amazing place that have a long history. Really enthusiastic staff. You can either go using audio guide or go with guided tour. I highly recommend buying Heritage Pass for 40€ and having access to other great museums. I also highly recommend visiting War HQ Tunnels that starts at Saluting Batteries. I had a great guide named Joseph. The tour for War HQ Tunnels begins in 10:30, 13 and 14 hours every weekday. It houses the old NATO HQ and older parts that were used in WW2. You can go to the Lascaris War Rooms directly from the Valeta bus station.

Fascinating and highly engaging tour with Mike, who has a clear passion for his role. Recommended to book in-line with the guided tour times (check online or ask at the front desk) as it was more informative and option for direct Q&A's than the alternative audio guide. Both options are included in entry price of €13 per adult. Unsure if there was a children's price.

A great place to learn about Malta’s contribution to the Second World War. It was interesting to learn how the War Rooms were used to defend the Island and were used to plan and command Operation Husky. I took part in a guided tour which was excellent and helped me to understand the technology of the day along with the War Room's history. Our guide, Mike, was great! I’d certainly recommend a visit to this interesting place.

Definitely worth a visit. Learning about the history of Malta and particularly Malta's effort during WW2 was incredible. The guided tour was great and Mike, a British ex-Pat who was the guide, not only made it all seem so authentic, did an awesome job answering questions, and explaining the grand scale of what happened so many years ago.

It is so interesting to see everything that happened back then ! People who love historical events will love that place ! An audio guide is provided at the entrance and it is included on the price (13€/person).

This was a very well done museum - but not part of the highly recommended Heritage Malta pass package. There was a lot of great information provided but if you do not read English well, an audio guide or onsite tour may be advantageous.

I didn't particularly find it interesting - far too long blocks of text which I just couldn't be bothered to read. Also was strange how I was advised to leave my suitcase 5 minutes walk away from the museum, even though when I entered the museum there were lockers to use. Probably would have enjoyed more with the audio guide but was too nervous about my suitcase so wanted to do it quickly. Likewise if you are into WW2 stories, then you'd probably find it much more interesting than I did.

One of the coolest WWII museums I have ever been too, it’s the Malta equivalent of the Churchill War Rooms in London. This particular site was crucial for the defense of the Mediterranean and for the launch of Operation HUSKY that involved the Allied invasion of Sicily. I joined the English tour with our guide Mike and was absolutely blown away by his knowledge, witty sense of humor, and ability to organize so much detailed information in such a clear way. I haven’t had a tour this good in a really really long time and left excited to want to learn more. It lasts about an hour but is absolutely worth it.

Highly recommended WW2 / Military History museum experience recounting the role played by the Lascaris War Rooms in modern history. Lots of great exhibits including artefacts, as well as written supporting explanations in English. Friendly and helpful staff. Lockers available.

If you’re into WWII history this place is a must see, right up there with the Churchill War Rooms in London. They do any excellent job with the audio guide, it works automatically. They also do a great job with explaining how operations worked on the island and delve into Operation Husky.

The war tunnels are fascinating and the views over the harbour from the private gardens are spectacular. Our guide Trevor was very informative and I would definitely recommend adding this to your trip itinerary

Love what they've done with this area. The facade of the old buildings make a great backdrop for view out to the port. Some good eateries. Was quiet and relaxed fit an out of season lunchtime stop.

Had to walk along side a very dark road down to the waterfront at night as there was no busses or public transport going down there. But was trying to get to Hard Rock Cafe Valletta. My advice is to to take the sightseeing bus to the Cruise Terminal or Waterfront bus stop and its a shorter walk. Or take the Barrack Lift down for €1 and then walk towards the cruise terminal. 🛳

Historic, huge and a great place to take pictures and just walk. Sticking along the walls elevations vary and there is so much of interest. Beware of traffic coming from your right as you step into the streets.

Such a beautiful place. The old sandstone buildings and the harbour, its just a wonderful place to be. We walked a couple of kilometres and ended up at the hard rock cafe for a drink. Then we walked back, noticing other wonderful views. You could spend a lifetime their without ever getting tired of it.

This was a port of call for one of our stops on the Windstar cruise. We unfortunately didn't get a chance to check it out much because by the time we finished our tours in the area it began to rain. From what I could see it looked very nice and we'd hoped to tour around.

Beautiful place! I like to visit it in the day. Last time was there in August 2023. Been there many times before. Very clean around this place. I think there one or two restaurants around with a beautiful terrace and view to the seafront and big cruises. On the left side there are a number of shops which offer food and gifts for tourists. Even if you are not going to spend money on restaurant food, you still may enjoy just walking along the waterfront and admire big ships. It's really beautiful.

Not as much there as we thought, given it’s a bit of a trek to get there. Reasonable number of restaurants but seems more developed for cruise ship business (seems an odd place for Starbucks and Hard Rock otherwise!).

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the National War Museum located within the historic Fort St. Elmo in Malta. While it may not be as well-known as some of the more popular tourist attractions, I found it to be a fascinating and informative experience. The museum offers a unique and modern approach to presenting Malta's war history, utilizing videos and projections that really bring the exhibits to life. The tour is comprised of 7 stages, starting with the first inhabitants of Malta all the way through the country's independence and accession into the European Union. Everything from the famous sieges of Malta to the brave heroism of its people is covered in detail. I particularly recommend not skipping any stage particularly No. 7, which is a periodic video projection that is shown every half-hour. Many visitors seemed impatient to wait for it and moved on to the next stage, but they missed out on a truly incredible presentation. It was well-worth the wait! Overall, I would highly recommend the National War Museum to anyone interested in learning more about the rich and storied history of Malta. The modern presentation and attention to detail truly make it a unique experience.

The place is amazing, but make sure you have 3 to 4 hours to spend there otherwise you will miss a lot especially when you travel with teenagers eager to learn something new. After 2,5 hours we managed to see only five stages. We skipped 6 with kids as we spent a lot of time at stage 4 and 5 devoted to WWI and WWII and were not interested in modern history. We just ran out of the time at 18.00 and missed stage 7 which is the most recommended. The guide told us at the gate that we will manage everything in 2 hours which is misleading, but this is with all museums at Malta. Make sure you have enough time.

A great place to visit it was empty when we went at 1pm on a Sunday. Lots of history here and lots to watch and read. A must see when coming to Valletta and learning about the history of Malta. Price was 10 euro adult and 7.50 senior. Free for under 6s.

Probably the best history museum on Malta! So much information on both war and peace time of the most fortified island in human history. The price of only 10 euros is a steal as it includes both this great museum and access to the entire fort of St. Elmo which also is scattered with information boards informing you of the forts function over the years. A must for any history fan!

The first part is just walking through the fortress with no signs or explanations which make you think that’s all there is. 2nd part is the museum area. Nice journey through the history of Malta broken down in 6 different rooms. The timeline comparing the events in Malta with it’s conquerors and the rest of the world offered good perspective. Wish they offered more detail about the knights and why they came here…all a bit vague.

Definitely worth a visit. Love how interactive the museum is in telling the story of Malta over 7000 years - Video films, projections on the wall, preserved clothing from medieval times are all fascinating. Also not to miss the beautiful view outside St. Elmo which is included in the €10 ticket price, well worth the value. This museum has it all for everyone.

Not so turistically exposed place describing all the war history of Malta. Modern way of presenting - videos, projections. I really enjoyed the visit. The tour consists of 7 stages - from first inhabitants of Malta, thru both sieges of Malta till Malta independence and entering into EU. Don't skip the stage No. 7! This stage is video projection that runs periodically every half-hour, many people did not want to wait to it's start, but they missed a lot!

Very good museum situated within the fort complex. Well designed flow and an abundance of artefacts and content. Full of Malta’s and the fort’s history, spanning from medieval and Ottoman Empire days to joining the EU in 2004. Stroll leisurely around the exhibitions and grounds.

A great museum, without visiting it I wouldn't understand the magic of this place and the whole of Malta, a great collection and interestingly told stories, mainly military, but not only. Nice panorama from the Fort, cool price. You can get away from the overwhelming heat in the city by sightseeing.

This War Museum represents the important role Malta and its people played during World War II as well as Malta’s important military role after 1800 under British rule. However, the museum displays also items from the First World War and from the two years of French Occupation. The most important and interesting piece at the War Museum is the George Cross Medal which was given in 1942 to the whole population of Malta as a recognition for their bravery during the war. This cross now features on the Maltese flag. Highly recommend to visit!

A great place to learn about Malta's war history. It is really great value for the money you pay for entry. Many exciting exhibits with English posters and explanations attached. We spent around 3 hours here, which surprised us due to the low cost for entry. The last exhibit (an audio-visual show that runs every 30 minutes) is definitely a must before you leave. It's a great way to recap the entire visit. Definitely a great experience if you are visiting Malta 👍

This was so much more interesting than I was expecting. The fort is cool to see but the museum within is very well done. First, it is huge. The amount of history they present in vast and really described the path Malta took to independence well. Second, it is very interactive. They have well defined timelines and make great use of videos and other media.

We didn't have time to check out everything at our final destination of the day. It's easy to get lost exploring this place. The history of this great site is a must if you visit Valetta. You can gain a great understanding of this little island in just a few short hours.

Whether you're a WW II history buff or a fan of museums, the National War Museum is a must while visiting Valletta, Malta. There a seven different sections covering 7000 years of military history on Malta. Housed in historic Fort St. Elmo, built by the Knights of St. John in 1552, is a fascinating retrospect of ancient military events through World War One and Two. The ancient buildings that have been restored give you a feel and view of what the soldiers felt and saw. I highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting stunning Valletta.

Large War Museum in the partially restored Fort Abercrombie at the tip of Valletta. Entry price was reasonable, and there were a couple of ice cream vans parked outside so you can have something cold before you go in. Inside, the fort has been partially restored in a sympathetic style – you can visit the gun emplacements used by the British and also wander through a series of seven halls which tell the story of the fort and the role that it played in Malta’s military history – this goes right up to the present day, although there is a strong focus on the battle between the Ottoman Turks and the Knights of St John in the 16th Century. The latter sounded particularly bloody and unpleasant – I can never understand why people think time travel would be fun really, it would just expose you to the casual brutality of that type of era… Anyway, it’s a interesting museum that offers a fascinating window into the history of the island and you should probably set aside 2 hours to see it properly. Small children should probably not visit as it doesn’t offer a lot for them and is not very interactive. At one point you can see into the unrestored area of the fort – there is so much more space available waiting for restoration – I can’t imagine what they will do with it all when they get around to it.

A beautiful, very attractive garden at the top of Valletta, with incredible views. I think the best views of Valletta as well as across to the Three Cities. There are plenty of opportunities for stunning photographs, particularly around the two rows of stone archways at the back. There are public loos and a kiosk for refreshments and food. I found the Lower Barrack Gardens to be more beautiful and peaceful, and certainly less people, but the Upper Gardens have a ‘Saluting Battery’ which features a gun that is fired at midday and at 4pm everyday except Sundays which is certainly a spectacle to be seen. To view the gun being fired in the Saluting Battery, tickets are 3 euros per adult, otherwise you can stand on the balcony above it (through the archways) and have a good view - though worth getting there early as people line up quickly along the balcony, and so you might not have a clear view if you arrive late.

Decent little park, nice view… there’s cannons that go off once a day I heard, there’s a cafe… a few cute cats… and horse drawn carriages offering city tours just outside the gates.

We visited the gardens today to watch the cannon fire and had a good time. The gardens are located above the harbour and provides the best views of the 3 cities. The place is full of memorials and monuments of icons like Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill and Thomas Maitland. Recommend visiting at noon for firing of cannons so that the visit covers everything.

A beautiful garden at the top of Valletta, with incredible views to the Three Cities which are across. Upper Barrakka Gardens have a ‘Saluting Battery’ which features a gun that is fired at 12am and at 4pm every day except Sundays which is certainly a spectacle to be seen. To watch the gun firing in the Saluting Battery, tickets are €3 per adult, otherwise you can stand on the balcony above it and have a better view. It is good to arrive 5 to 10 minutes early for a better view. I expected him to shoot from both cannons because he loaded them, but I don't know why he shot only one. There is a boy at the exit who collects money because they are an independent organization.

Cute place. Small little garden with good view of the harbour. It has a lift to help people coming from the other entrance. People come to rest and chill here and appreciate the view. It has a cafe inside which is nice to have a cold drink until the next stop.

This area is ideal to rest at especially during warmer months. The trees provide shade. The are plenty of benches that could accommodate 4 people that are around the garden. The sound of splashing water from the fountain is a delight to listen to whilst resting and enjoying a snack. The view overlooking the harbour is fabulous.

This place is stunning. The view is amazing and you can walk around the garden and have a drink at the bar. If you take elevator you can catch a ferry to Three Cities. It is worth to visit. Nice place to take pictures.

A nice little garden with beautiful views over the harbour. It's in the centre of Valetta and easily reachable by foot. There is a gun salute all Mondays - Saturdays at 12pm. The Upper Barrakka lift can be accessed from here. It is free to go down but a ferry ticket needs to be shown to come up again. You will see a lot of stray cats in the bush resting and do not disturb them. Also, check out the film trail in the centre of the garden to see where some of the famous movies were filmed. You could spend an easy few hours in the garden for the photographic spot and a must do if you are in the city.

Lovely place to sit, have a drink or a bite to eat. There is a restaurant with outdoor seating. A great place to walk around and take in the views of the island from within Valletta's walls. You have to experience it at night as well, the city is lit up and it's really impressive.

Outside of the scheduled battery firing, it is really the view of the Three Cities that takes your breath away. The park itself and the botanical life wasn’t well maintained but perhaps because it was midsummer’s hottest day. I recommend going to the elevator on the corner of the park and go down to the sea level… give you that fresh perspective compare to up top! Recommended for that generic but very beautiful photo of the skyline across Valetta’s eastern shore!

A beautiful place with amazing story. I highly recommend to see a show at noon! It was pretty interesting to see. It's easy to get there by walk, in the early April there were a lot of people so in the summer time in must be really crowded but anyway it's worth to see.

Cannon salutation was cool to watch. You smell the gunpowder in the air which is cool. It is at 16:00 every day, so get a spot on the upper terrace 30 mins before, gets crowded.

Beautiful architecture (in particular the arches framing the harbour) and pretty little garden. The history of this place regarding the wars is very interesting. Also a great viewing point for the cannon fire at midday.

Nice view. Every day, at noon you can see the Gun Salute. It gets pretty crowded, but I think the best view is from the garden. Also you can observe the Grand Harbour and Three Cities. Also while you are there, take a look on the elevator.

Relatively small gardens with a cafe which leads onto the walls overlooking Valetta harbour. An absolutely incredible view and one that I will always remember (There is also a plaque denoting locations that have been used for past films which I found super interesting)

The 40 minutes movie presented the history of Malta in a profound, interesting way. The headphones were comfortable and you could switch between many languages. The armchairs were comfy too. After watching the film, go to the amazing cafe serving delicious cakes. Drink your tea/coffee admiring the astonishing view over the sea.

My husband's parents are both Maltese but he has not been to Malta since he was 2 years old (almost 50 years ago) and since this was my first time visiting Malta, we decided to check out The Maltese Experience based on a recommendation from a friend. We are glad we did because we both really enjoyed it. We were a little concerned at first because my husband is 6'6" and once you go downstairs, you have to walk through a long tunnel that is not very tall and at times, his head would brush against the ceiling. But all was good once we entered the shop. We were delighted to find that the shop and the theatre were very well air-conditioned because we were there in August and it was truly hot outside. We were provided headsets that offered commentary in your choice of language. We both found the documentary to be enjoyable and informative. My husband even learned some things he did not know. After the documentary, we took a guided tour of the La Sacra Infermeria. Our guide was delightful and we found it to be truly interesting. The Malta Experience was an overall enjoyable experience and it was nice to learn about the country at the start of our visit to Malta. We would definitely recommend it to those visiting Malta for the first time. *Note: The seats in the theatre are fairly small and the rows are a bit tight. Given my husband's height, we had to sit in the very front row because he was too tall to fit in the other rows.

Although the facilities are slightly outdated (cinema room itself), the movie is very interesting and educational. Would recommend going there, especially at the beginning of your visit to Malta. Friendly guide that gave the tour afterwards! ✨

Beautiful place to visit. Crystal lagoon, Camino Island, Gozo, Madina city, Valletta are the amazing destination to visit. Food is good, but for Muslims not very easy to find halal food.

A "must see" for every visitor to Malta, preferably at the beginning of your stay. In 45 minutes you explore the history of the island in a fun way that gives viewers a great perspective. My non English speaking friends especially appreciated the multi-lingual narrative through the headphones provided. I particularly enjoy the tour of the old hospital built by the Knights which comes after the movie.

An interesting and informative film explaining Malta and Valletta’s history. This was included in the 14€ ticket to the National War Museum. We paid an extra 9€ per person for the tour of the infirmary. The guide was very good, but the tour very short in terms of time.

The movie was well put together but the highlight for me was standing in the halls which had been used from an 11th Century hospital to a 20th Century police HQ. This coupled with the amazing story of the theatre and its rebuild - I believe this to be a great place to have a sample summary of Malta’s extraordinary history with great tour guides too.

Would I recommend to a friend? No. Would I go again knowing what I know. No. It was over priced for 45 minute video. If you’re interested in the history of Malta do a search on YouTube and save yourself some euros. The technology used for the headphones was functional but old. Overall it was very underwhelming. Children and teens would hate this video. It would be like something they are forced to watch in a school history class when the teacher was out and they left this video as the sun plan. The movie about Malta was enjoyable and the sound was good. The tour afterwards was led by the wonderful guide, Anna and was, for me, a very special Malta experience. She guided us through what was at the time a wonderful hospital, which was used by men only. She showed us where the garden used to be, which is now an historical theatre where Presidents Bush and Gorbachev met at a summit. She also explained the meaning behind the 8-point Maltese cross. All in all, she made the tour every interesting. Also important, there are public toilets which were very clean.

We did the movie and the guided tour afterwards and would highly recommend both. The movie was very well done and had a lot of language options through the provided headsets. The tour of the Infirmary, specifically our guide, was also very informative!

Would have gotten 4 stars but the place is under serious restoration which is badly needed so half of the state rooms are closed off by scaffolding. The armoury is interesting enough but the war museum at fort st Elmo's is far larger better and goes through larger time span.

Interesting palace with loads of history. Many swords, helmets and guns. Rooms have a rich decoration and historical furnishings. The wall paintings are stunning. Also has a couple of contemporary art collections. Overall it was a nice experience that was worth a visit.

Palace is closed for 2 years under refurbishment however the Palace armoury is open at a cost of 6 euros for an adult.. Nice collection of historical weapons and armour.

We visit it on Sunday lunch using the combo Valetta ticket. It is one magic museum where you could brief deep from the history, atmosphere and learn much more. I could easily say that all 5 museums which we visit are a must for those who want to understand better the Malta island.

Having read about this place online and formally being a st John ambulance member and studied the history of the order I was immensely disappointed to find that only one room is open, it contains a few suits of armour and a few lances. Many cabinets in the one room were empty and they're charging 6 euro entry fee, absolute rip off!!!

The place is currently in restoration works, but there was a pre opening on the 15. & 16.04., and by what I saw, I can highly recommend a visit.

The Arms Collection is one of the coolest museums, I have ever been to. Just for that, it was worth the visit. But learning the history and the usage of the Palace was a nice little bonus that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Architectural masterpiece, the arch alley, by the Grandmaster Palace Court. The courtyards-Great place for relaxation, outdoor events, selfies, family outings, leisure, strolling etc. Bursting with cheery atmosphere. The coffee shop at the square was opened since 1898! They serve handmade recipes made from scratch. Beautiful atmosphere, with good amount of greenery from the trees. Noise level is moderate. So many picturesque views. The palace itself is under re-construction, but there are fun places to see within the yards.

The place I took a rest and taking the Beauty of Valletta in Malta all in. I cannot believe this is where the president of Malta, George Vella lives and people wonder around outside as normal. How Amazing.

The Grand Master Palace is an attraction that cannot be missed, great history of Malta and the maltese who defended its forts and the capital city VALLETTA.

Overall, a pleasant and interesting experience. We went at the opening time, so there was no wait. I downloaded their app for the tour. This worked really well and provided some interesting details about the rooms and contents. There were fans and a couple of mobile AC units but we found the temperature inside a little uncomfortable. The underground bunker and well was an unexpected highlight. This captured our daughter's imagination more than the building. Some interactive elements would make it more engaging but still worth a visit.

My wife and I only visited to pass time before the afternoon time gun thingy but I'm glad we did. Well-preserved and presented rooms throughout, a parrot and a surprisingly deep bomb shelter all add up to a pretty interesting time. There are unisex toilets available. Lots of steps means it isn't really suitable for disabled visitors I'm afraid.

Cute little place (actually not so little, a true noble villa) that transports you to another historical time, full of charm and style Well organized tours, lovely small garden, scary bunker, lots of art and collectibles and family objects. Interesting that they still live there and even have an B&B at one of the floors. To top it up, smiling and cute exchange students at the reception and doing the guided tour. Recommended

Very beautiful palace in the centre of Valletta, there are many rooms to explore. Our guide was nice and told us many interesting facts about the history of the palace. We had lots of fun and we learn lots of history of the palace and Malta. There is also a beautiful garden pirate with the parrots and turtles. It is possible to visit the underground war shelter too.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was nice and quiet. The most interesting thing was definitely the tunnels below the place. I would recommend buying the tickets on site because it's cheaper than through a third party online. Overall an interesting place to see and nice to walk around.

This is a great surprise in the middle of Valletta. You can easily discover it via any map; easy to buy tickets. You can visit the house and the world war II shelters below the house. Nice inner garden and a great surprise in the garage. Worth 1+ hours from your life.

Amazing place, definitely recommend visiting it and immersing yourself in the history! When we went, the options were not presented when buying the ticket, but know that you can choose between an audio tour and a guided tour. The guided tour starts from the garden (not sure how often). Added bonus, that's where the adorable parrot is at, so you can spend some time there before the tour starts. They also have an app, but I found it difficult to locate in the app the room I was in, so would recommend to go with the guided tour.

Very pretty, richly decorated mansion! 🤩There are very beautiful objects, paintings, furniture… 🖼️ 🏺 You should also visit the cellars, which served as shelter during the 2 WW. It’s really a very beautiful place to visit if you are in Valletta! 😉

Had a great time here. Staff was extremely attentive and friendly. The building is amazing and has hundreds of years of history. Breakfast was great as well. If you stay do the tour with the Marquis it is very interesting. He will go through his families history and show you a lot of very interesting historical pieces. The price is also very reasonable. Can't recommend this enough. Just so you know there isn't a TV in the room but why would you need a TV in such a beautiful city? Make sure you check out the underground bunker as well.

Great experience seeing different eras that the house has been through and amazing seeing the bomb shelter underground! Even had a small chat with the current owner of the house who told us a bit about the history of how the bomb shelter was dug before World War II started.

Simply put quite impressive. Guided tour was interesting and insightful. You can walk around the property and take a closer look at everything once the guided tour is over.

No doubt the best museum in Valletta. Absolutely charming villa with beautiful interiors, stunning furniture and lots of paintings. They have an app with both text and audio guide, so you can do the tour at your own pace. Plan at least one hour to walk around. The owner of the place is often in the inner yard chatting with the visitors and sharing amazing stories. They also have a parrot there, so come and hear him saying Hello to you :)

The house surely has a lot of interesting stories. I'd recommend taking the free guided tour. We didn't do it as it's available in English only and my friend doesn't understand English that well. Without the tour, there is no additional info on the rooms and the place's history, so you miss out on a lot. The catacombs with the WWII shelter were also interesting, but again, no information panels, you need the guided tour.

Beautiful, an imersive path to history. Everything is in excelent good care. I went to the anti-bomb safe and It is impressive, maybe a little to much for my heart. And Kiku is a star, he's very polite, a beautiful bird. Everyone in the house was educated and treated all the guests very well. Must be visited.

It's a quite interesting museum of history. It looks small from outside but there actually are 2storeys and filled of all the othe ages wonders. I liked the little playroom for children, esp the fact that they prepare a special time slot for SEN children to use as a quiet room. The building itself is a beautiful historic building which they're still restoring.

I learnt a lot about Malta's archaeological history. I would have loved more visual representations of how the structures and artifacts would have been used during the different era's. Also the Archaeology building is falling apart, but its a heritage building, so I'm surprised it's not being looked after.

It was a nice place to visit. The place was missing a structure a bit, but it was interesting otherwise. Totally recommend to see kt when you visit Valletta. I don't know if it was only our luck, but it was not crowded and we got to see all the exhibitions without any troubles.

Would advise anyone to visit the temples on Malta and then visit the museum, as this made our visit all the more interesting. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and took our time to wander through the exhibits. It’s all wonderfully put together.

Museum in heart of Valletta where you can see all about Maltese Islands’ prehistory and early history. With artefacts dating back from Malta’s Neolithic period (5900-2500BC) up till the early Phoenician period (8th – 6th Century BC), the National Museum of Archaeology is definitely your first step to understanding the richness of the land you tread on, its people and their ancestors.

One more very well done museum. Absolutely worth the ticket. Well structured and informative. Almost 2 hours for a detailed visit.

For the existing displays had an excellent presentation... Wish the museum was bigger, however was worth the entrance fee especially when comparing to some other museums and sites in Malta.

Make sure to look upwards in the entrance, before the ticket turnstiles as there is a studding allegory painted onto the ceiling. The whole building is a great example of Baroque architecture in Malta. Two adult tickets was €10, we visited at about 2:30pm and there was no queue. The museum has free Wi-Fi which is strong enough to access their webpage audioguide, however we lost Wi-Fi signal when we reached the first floor. The ground floor covers the Neolithic region, with a lot of information and artefacts taken from Malta’s megalithic temples for preservation. There is no aircon in the museum with exception to The Phoenician Period room, but large floor fans are situated in most rooms. The lift wasn’t working, and there are a lot of stairs between each floor for anyone with accessibility issues. The collection across the whole museum is very impressive and I think everyone will find something (hopefully many things) that is highly fascinating to them. For me, it was seeing the original sculptures and carved stones taken from the Tarxien Temples, photos from the 1916 excavation, and learning about the mysterious deep cart ruts that have been discovered in Malta.

We really liked the archaeology museum. Tickets were only 5€ each, very good value for money. Very interesting exhibits. We spent 1.5 hour but it was nowhere near enough to see everything, which we did not quite expect, so I would recommend budgeting for a lot more time. We only got through the ground floor in that time plus a bit of the first floor. Would go back to see the rest for sure!

The main museum in Malta's old town. It's small but full of history. You should check it out. It's next to the main church.

A must see, even if you will spend only a long weekend on the island. The neolithic section on the ground floor boasts an impressive collection of neolithic statues and artefacts from Malta, and it’s a great introduction to the main archeological sites on the island (which will help you plan the trips for the following days!). There are also sections covering the Bronze age and Phoenician period. As often in Malta, there is a wealth of information available to the visitor. there are audioguides in different languages, and information panels in both English and Maltese.

Interesting museum about the history of Malta. 5 euro to enter. Not very big will only take an hour to walk around. I reccomend going if you love history or interested in history of Malta, if not skip this museum.

Sensational museum conveniently located in a magnificently appropriate formerly Knights of Malta related building. Amongst the extensive range of artifacts are important Neolithic figurines and Phoenician stone carvings and recreated scenes and abundant religious, agricultural and everyday objects. Multiple rooms contain the collections. The unique vast coin collection is properly curated and laid out including an almost complete ancient Roman Caesarian collection. Easy to navigate with both a multi-lingual brochure and talking guide. Helpful staff is a real bonus. Recommend, thank you!

Learnt a lot about the archeological aspects of Malta. Not a professional in archeology but the pieces displayed were cool and the topics were quite intriguing. I like the comics. They were creative and funny!

Nice little museum but located on one of the busiest streets in Valletta. That being said for the entry price it's worth a visit if you're out shopping.

Nice little gardens, not very large or particularly beautiful in and of themselves, but has some brilliant views across the grand harbour and to the three cities. There are a couple of small kiosks and a cafe just outside for refreshments, but nothing more substantial than that. Lots of seating available looking out to the harbour, some in the sun and some shaded. Don't go too close to the edge if you're scared of heights - it's a long way down!

Nice peaceful place to spend an hour or so relaxing on a bench whilst admiring the stunning view. Only negative was the lack of suitable toilet facilities as there was only a single toilet available with no lock on the door or tissue available. Luckily I always carry a bottle of water (if you know you know) and a packet of Tissues handy so made do with what was on offer. Apologies for the oversharing but maybe useful for someone to hear 😂😂

A nice little garden facing the harbour and the 3 Cities. Perfect for sunset and there are a lot of benches to sit and enjoy the view. Near the entrance of the garden has some restaurants/ kiosk to buy food and drinks. Easy for a hot day to hang out. I came here when the flowers blossom, so made it even more beautiful.

Definitely a beautiful view the Mediterranean from this outlook post. Even though it’s a little bit lower in altitude than the upper gardens, it has a unique perspective of the city. Particularly, the bell across with the sleeping solder statue (commemorating the departure of British Colonialists) and the open sea are much visible form here. The garden itself, in my opinion, is much more well kept than the upper one. Also, there were a lot less people here as well compared to up there. Worth a visit. Snap a few pics and learn a little history!

Very nice park with curated gardens. Ideal place for relax after long walk around Valletta city. There are also couple of benches with amazing sea view so a person can rest while enjoying the magnificent views. There is temple, statue and other objects inserted in the park which are giving additional touch to this peaceful place. If needed, public toilet is accessible here as well.

Beautiful smaller gardens than Upper Barrakka Gardens, but we'll worth a look. Perched overlooking the grand harbour it has a tranquil feel with lovely trees for a shady time out. There is a good cafe and a restaurant as you enter the gardens for refreshment.

The Gardens (upper/lower) are worth the visit. Take the ferry from Sliema to Valletta. Then up the streets to Hastings gardens. Take a short walk and you can see the Upper gardens. Then, it is possible to take the elevator to save time and walk to the left up a bit. You can see the Lower gardens easily. Right next to the gardens you have the Bell monument. There are numerous restaurants and coffee shops around. Nice lunch and good coffee available.

Lovely garden to stop by on a nice day. Great views of the water and harbors, plenty of greenery, and a small building reminiscent of a Roman temple in the center. Recommended to anyone that is exploring Valletta.

Very beautiful, and quiet place. You can walk around it, and look at some harbors in the distance. This was one of the first places I visited in Malta, and I liked the atmosphere, and the surrounding views very much. It's clean, and there are many benches around where one can sit and have a moment of tranquility

I found this landscape unbelievable and inspiring. Alongside an incredible monuments at sight, this place offers an amazing view of Valetta and “3 cities”. It can be quite windy, however, the astonishing view and reached equilibrium are rewarding. Must-visit location during the Valetta tour.

On our last night, we visited the Lower Barracks gardens which proved to be the perfect way to end a stunning two week holiday in Malta. The serenity of the garden and the absolutely breathtaking views seemed fitting for the gratitude we felt at having experienced this beautiful country. A small, extremely well-kept garden with multiple views of the harbour in Valletta. You can see the canons below. Various statues fill this garden which signify the historical background of the city.

Magnificent little park with an old temple on top of a hill overlooking the city. Highly recommended for a stroll or just to sit down and relax.

There really are projections every 30 minutes and not as the sign says only 4 per day. It lasts about 10-15 minutes and is not something I'd recommend. Didn't give me any ideas on visiting new places or anything like that. For people who like 5D I guess it's ok, but otherwise it's just a rumble with distractions. May be interesting for kids. Cost was 10 euro.. maybe worth 5.

They have a small 17-minute 3D movie with dynamic chairs and a few special effects. The movie shows the history of Malta and the situation during world war. The best part is the movie is available in 18 languages English, Italian, French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Russian, Polish, Japanese, Turkish, Hebrew, Chinese, Polish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Swedish, Greek, and Hungarian and you can choose your preferred language during the show. Automated multilingual devices and headsets are provided for multilingual shows free. But the problem is the quality of the earphones. They provide very basic disposable earphones, I highly recommended you to carry your own earphone or Headphone with a 3.5mm jack for a better sound experience. Toilets are available to visitors free of charge and cater to women, men, and disabled persons.

Went here as part of a guided tour. Thought it was great. Well worth a visit if you know nothing of Maltas history. Even if you do it's still worth a visit.

Wonderful way to see Malta. Amazing effects which truly made us jump out of our seats. Loved the moving chairs as we flew and the snakes across your legs. Exploding cannon balls right at you. Worth every penny.

They show the historical sites of Malta, including UNESCO heritage sites, via a '5D walk-through'. So high tech meets history. Great! A must add on any tourist's To-do list. I rate it a four star because I did not get to experience it fully. The day I was there, there was a party going on. However I saw tourists going there. It's a great concept to tourism that they have. They capture the true essence of the historical Island nation of Malta.

Wow, what an experience. A beautiful fusion of High-Tech and Rich History. Amazing. This cinema should ideally be the starting point of your Maltese adventure. I got immersed into a virtual reality walk-through of Malta's past and present. It was like a chopper cruise of the islands, like drone footages of Malta's finest locations, together with reliving the history of the legends. Brilliant! This is the smartest way to start your Malta experience. By the time I got through the cinema show, I knew exactly what to do in Malta and where to visit or not. There are historic arts and souvenir pieces displayed at the gallery. The original legendary Maltese goddess figurines are abundantly displayed for souvenir picks. The local Maltese soap and stickers as well. This place seems popular with tourists. Malta 5D captures the true essence of the historical Island nation of Malta. Sights and Sounds of Malta in 5D. Brilliant!

Interesting and entertaining video covering some of the history of Malta. A but scary for under 6s, and my headset failed. I wasn't offered a refund by the staff which was a shame. Overall though I'd recommend it

Amaaaazing experience! Didn t expect it would be that great. Very underrated place. Whoever has created this experience knew exactly what strings to touch. I m not a very historical person myself but this experience has made me very interested in researching more of Malta's past, thats how touching and well presented it was. Stuff very friendly, worth every euro. I would recommend to start your visit with this as it gives you a very nice insight of the country itself which makes it easier to understand later on when you visit different places or parts of the island.

It is ok. A normal 5D equipment as it is used to be. And the guy in the reception is very nice. You can choose your own language and voila. The history of Malta is ready for you.

The 5D show starts every 30 minutes, we only had to wait a couple of minutes before entering after paying the 10€ person person admission. 3D glasses and headphones are given as you enter the screen. The show itself lasts about 20 minutes, which is perhaps a little on the short side. However, it is an enjoyable experience which gives an insight into the history of Malta and Valletta.

If you are looking for 2 days Holidays then Valletta is the best place for you.Everything is near by and you can reach all the tourist spots by foot

Returned to see this again after my last trip to Malta 8 years ago. Lovely experience, would recommend you do this first when you are in Malta as then you can appreciate what you'll see a bit more.

Terrible, been there with a friend, she cried. The animations were horrifying and gave you a headache simply watching. You were bombed, there was a weird badly animated bird, some kid being sucked into a golden bird thing and an ugly man. Suddenly it was freezing and the seats were shaking and there were lights, which scared the hell out of us and our headphones were only working on one ear. My friend was crying the whole way home. We were both dizzy and we were close to vomiting. And all of that torture for 10€.

It is a nice and fun short activity. My 2 kids (7&10) enjoyed it so much, that they want to watch it again. The place (and facilities) were clean and the theater seats were comfortable. They give a historic baseline to understand the culture and importance of the country. The staff was very nice and kind.

Malta is a country with rich history. I was able to visit the two of the three islands:Malta and Gozo. City tour, and historical tour with guide. Visited the archaeological museum, Botanical garden, Golden Beach, Blue Groto,Hagar Qim Temples, Caves and one of the highlights of my experience in Malta was visiting the Pop-eye Village. It was worth it especially inviting for children to visit this attractive Fun Park. It is located at Anchor Bay.

Great way to get up and down the city of Valletta. Costs 1 Euro (return on the same day) without concessions. Currently there is only one of the two elevators in operation. Staff is friendly, elevator is pretty fast and clean.

The easiest and fastest way to get from the ferry station up to Barrakka Gardens. If you take the ferry from Cospicua the lift ride is included, just show them your ticket. Otherwise it is 1euro. Going down is also 1euro, this is not included in the ferry ticket.

Super convenient to go from water front to the upper gardens where you can see one of the best views of the Grand harbour. Costs €1 but totally worth it! The staff was friendly and the elevator was clean.

A cheap way to reach the water front from Valletta. Very fast and a great way travel. Only 1 euro for a two-way ticket.

Easy and fast way (ride takes around minute or two) to get all the way up, to the Upper Barrakka Gardens (from which you can walk around Valletta). Cost per ride is 1 EUR and can be a bit crowded during summer, especially if cruiser just came in the harbour. If you're coming to Valletta with local ferry (3 cities ferry) then one way up and one way down is free of charge. There is no nice/clear view from the elevator as there is protective coating around it. But, it does save you some time walking all the way up.

So convenient!!! You can go from Valetta waterfront to the Upper Barrakka gardens in 5 minutes! You can also enjoy the view from above!The ticket cost 1€ per person !

It costs 1 euro. Very reasonable price and saves a lot of time from walking up and down the hill. I went in the afternoon and the waiting time is less than 5 min. From inside the lift you can't really see the view since it's quite packed and the ride is very short.

The lift is nice. We were told that the ticket is needed just for going up, the way down should be free. So we give our ticket on our way up to the attendant, but on our way down the upper attendant stop us and asked for a tickets, I told him we gave it at the bottom and that we don't need one to go down, but he insist we have to buy them again. So I get them for 1€ each. Now. He didn't take them of us, and the ticket for state big mark saying UP (down mark doesn't exist as it is free to go down). So I had them and used them again on my way up. So careful, he is just trying to rip off.

The lift is horrible, better walk. Cash only, 1 euro No view, no privacy unless you happen to be alone, no point. Ok if you have issues walking or something, definitely not something I'd use on a daily basis. The only good thing is the kinnie vending machine

Very helpful elevator at a cost of 1 euro per person. If you are staying in Sliema and take the Valletta ferry to go across, from where the ferry drops you off you can for a small fee take a bus that cooperates with the ferry that takes you outside the particular lift.

It's a quick lift but if you are taking the 3 cities boat, the lift is included in the boat ticket price so don't be charged twice! There are 2 lifts, take the one facing the water for a better view!

Took this lift almost daily during my two week visit to Malta. I had a multi-day ticket for the Valletta - Three Cities Ferry, and the lift was included in this ticket. I can barely explain how convenient it is to use. I’ve never seen a queue, and you’re up or down in barely a few minutes - otherwise it’s a 15 - 20 minutes walk. The view you get is stunning!

The entrance to the capitol city of Malta. Valetta. A large open square awaits you with an impressive bridged entrance over a dry moat into the city. The gates are marked by two large flag poles, and once across, the streets of Valetta unfold in front of you like a maze. Just outside the gates sits the impressive Triton fountain. Unfortunately it was not in flow this visit. The main bus terminal also sits just outside the gates.

Here is a dreamful place which you can see. There are plenty of huge arcs and with different levels where you can be interested. That is incredible.

Fantastic entrance to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Valleta with its magnificent and massive city walls and the beautiful Triton water fountain just in front of the gate. The city is full of pavement cafes and shops. A must see on your bucket list.

Fantastic cultural centre of Valletta...unbelievable vista of impeccably restored and/or preserved traditional townhouses/apartments, public buildings and church buildings. Spectacular!

One of the top places and must visit in Malta. It’s located in the middle of Valletta and nearby the bus station. Everything else is nearby - shops, restaurants, cafes etc. Do visit here if you’re in Valletta.

There is a 30-minute train trip starting from Triq San Gwann; the address is 7 St. John Square, Valletta, Malta. The Knights Hospitaller built Valletta's structures in the 16th century. The town has the name of Jean Parisot de Valette, who during the Great Siege of Malta was successful in protecting the island from an Ottoman attack. Exciting amazing place with tons of history and Art and cultures, churches, catacombs, museums, fortresses, walls... can never get enough:) we decide spontaneously on where to go and mostly use public transportation and it is easily accessible and very convenient! Tip: watch the cannon daily salute over the sea at 12 noon and 1600!

A must go city! All the architecture looks pretty and rich in culture and history. The walls are huge. Walking through the gate is like time travelling back in time.

Great place to visit! I thought being in January, it's cold and windy, but there were lots tourists and great places to have coffee, snacks, lunch or dinner. Would recommend to visit 😀

Great City to visit, lots of good eating places, and many sites of historical interest such as Fort St Elmo, Malta Air Museum.

The old city is an amazing place to visit. It is a beautiful place where you can see how different cultures have contributed to the creation of a beautiful city. You can see how the so to say invasions changed the shape of the city.

The whole city is full of history with very important areas. The view here is impressive. The view of the sea gives you a state of tranquility. You must visit.

Much like everyone else here has said, this place is well worth a visit, there isn't much there apart from the bell itself. But the views are fantastic and the bell tower is super impressive.

Very historic place, and solemn with it, when one remembers, and gives thanks, for those who laid down their lives for us to have our freedom..
