A "Real Eyeopener"! This compact "old town" area of Southeast Colmar is a place "not to be missed" by visitors! It gets its name due to the "historic houses" built on both sides of the small, meandering, Lauch River.... and the "fairy tale vibe". The area is wonderful to walk around-- and has cobbled streets, colourful "half-timbered" houses, and a "covered market". It can also be seen by boat. It has been awarded by TripAdvisor the esteemed "Certificate of Excellence". It is indeed well worth a visit. It is no wonder that it has been rated as one of the "top of places" to visit/things to do, while in Colmar. It will definitely add to one's memories of the visit. I hope that this Review has been helpful.

Lovely time walking around Home Little Venice there's so much more than the picturesque bridge's to see with a few lovely restaurants along the canal, and little boat trip back and forth . It's only a short walk from here to the indoor market . My recommendations would be early evening when all the lights come on for beautiful pictures .

Vieille Ville in Colmar is like stepping into a fairy tale. This old town is full of colorful half-timbered houses that look straight out of a storybook. As you stroll the narrow cobblestone streets, you'll find cafes, bakeries, and shops with local crafts. Don't miss visiting the impressive St. Martin's Church with its stunning architecture. It's a must-visit for anyone who loves the charm and history of old European towns

Colmar is definitely our favourite town in Alsace after 5 days of visit. A must do together with Kaysersberg, Riquewihr, Eguisheim, Ribeauvillé and indeed the splendid castle of Haut-Koeningsbourg. The whole of Colmar is a magical place! The whole city is a Christmas market and even with the cold it is difficult to keep the hands in the pocket as you would want to take pictures of everything! This city is full of beautiful houses for their shapes, colours, decorations, and everyone is incredibly friendly in Alsace ! The city has many nice shops and amazing restaurants to enjoy including a 2 Michelin star restaurant. We've got to visit the city if you come to Alsace.

In my opinion the best spot of Alsace region in France. We compare the river view as Venise. The colorful houses with old design and typical architecture will definetely touch your feeling. They are offering a large choice of beer and traditional food as the very iconic choucroute dish but as well Baeckeoffe, Spätzles, Bretzel and the very tasty Flammekueche (onions,bacon ham, cream and gruyere cheese).

Colmar is a really popular and busy spot. But one can see why that is. It is an unbelievably pretty town, with a very walkable and accessable town center. The old town is pretty compact and could be visited in one day. But make sure to give it a few days if possible. There are endless sights, architectual masterpieces on every corner with the typical buildings, lots of wonderful shops and endless dining options. There's the impressive Collégiale St-Martin, the Église des Dominicains, the Église Saint-Matthieu, the Grand Rue, the Place du Marché Aux Fleurs, the Fontaine Schwendi, the Parc du Champ de Mars, Maison des Têtes, the Place du 2 Février, the Parc Montagne verte, the wonderful Marché couvert and of course Petite Venise. And that's just to name a few sights. It's nice to just wander around and to get lost in the various lanes and streets of colmar. Nice butcher shops with local goodies, lots of delicous bakeries and of course the restaurants. Sauerkraut and Flammkuchen are local specialties of course. But there's a lot more than that. We very much enjoyed "Les Racines" (a bit hidden away) and "Le Fer Rouge" (right in the middle of the action). Good food, nice staff, high quality, fair prices. We found out that most restaurants are dog-friendly. Inside and out, as in most of France. Even though quite a busy town packed with visitors it's one of the most beautiful spots in France (city-wise). Definitely worth a visit for a couple of days. We'll be back again in a few weeks.

Colmar a charming old village where you can feel history, wineries, old houses and nice architecture. I recommend you to visit the Alsace, la Route de Vins including Colmar.

Originally a 13-th century Dominican convent and later a public baths building, the Unterlinden Museum has a tremendous collection of international and local artifacts and relics that date back to prehistoric times. The museum was established in 1849 and opened to the general public in 1853. Sculptures, artworks and the amazing Isenheim Altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald (sculpted and painted in 1512-1516). So many more medieval and historic items to see. Expect your tour to take at least two hours and if it's cold, keep your coat on. Much of the museum is not air conditioned or heated but there are WCs throughout.

I loved the museum architecture specially the atrium with the beautiful garden. Some interesting paintings and ancient objects.

Nicely organized, well-kept and especially interesting museum. I would recommend to consider at least 1h30 for the visit and if you include the audio guide (2€) even more. The audio guide is very well-made and clear, although it doesn’t cover very well the most modern parts.

Beautiful and huge building. We visited it for 2,5 hours but it felt we could have stayed for two more. You can go out for lunch and come back to keep enjoying every piece. Audio guides available in different languages.

Love the museum! The museum is huge, divided into three parts of building. Inside there are collections of arts and objects from 1200s to modern arts. Loved the architecture of the museum too. Make sure to plan more time to visit here if you want to see all the collections since the museum is SUPER big.

Its bigger than expected with 2 parts.....one art and one history. You need a good few hours to see it all.

I was a bit unsure whether this museum would be worth it but I was blown away by the exhibition integrated throughout with Fabienne Verdier's pieces inspired by the museum collection. It was incredible, the extensive beautiful old Dominican building had many rooms and floors emphasising different periods, as well as the famous Isenheim alterpiece. Absolute must to get the audioguide. Highly recommend not to miss this during your visit to Colmar!

A great museum ( 3 levels ) with lots of art pieces from Alterpiece to Archeology to modern arts . A must visit while you are in Colmar . We have enjoyed the visit here !

A pretty good museum, it has a lot of floors and lot of artworks. Although i am not an art fan i enjoyed it a lot. The reason i am giving only 4 stars are the missing pieces of the altar and some pf the staff were also quite rude. I would especially recomend the top floor which has a lot of bug artworks and of course the main attraction the altar.

I rarely give five stars, but I really liked the variety of art and architecture here. I had a few hours to spare while on a visit to Colmar, and found it open on a Monday( as I remember!). There is a huge range of art here, from medieval ( which leaves me cold) to the modern ( more stimulating), with many pieces by local Alsace artists. But the star of the show for me is the huge preserved convent cloister with garden and ancient wells. It brings a touch of history, mystery and airy space to the museum. So I recommend a few hours wandering around these amazingly restored rooms and spaces for anyone arriving in Colmar.

A 12 meter high state of liberty stands in this roundabout since the sculptor was born here in Colmar. It's easy to park in the nearby parking lot. There are also some signs in French explaining the history behind. Currently it's draped in the Ukrainian flag.

Replica of the actual Statue of Liberty. Looks good . There is some parking nearby, but they could have kept some access to it. People find it difficult to take pics there

So overrated. Overall, it's nice to see a replica of the statue in the hometown of the artist himself. But it's a small statue inside a square with cars driving all around it. The location is just outside the city in the direction of Strasbourg (ergo poor transportation there). If you're too tired to go and you don't have your own car, you'll just get bummed out.

As others have said, this monument is a 12 metere high replica of the Statue of Liberty. The designer of the statue was born in Colmar, hence its presence here. The monument stands in the enter or a very, very busy roundabout. There are parking lots close by, but the road is so busy I had no intention of getting my young kids out of the car to walk up to it, nor is the area very picturesque. We drove by and snapped a photo and called it a day - at least the road is a main route to Colmar so not out of the way by any means.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore." -The New Colossus, Emma Lazarus (1849-1887) No, the famous poem isn't here on the Statue of Liberty in Colmar but it is a 12 meter (39 foot) tall replica of the famous statue. It is a quarter-scale in tribute to Colmar-native Auguste Bartholdi who designed the one in New York. This one was unveiled in 2004 to commemorate the centennial of his passing. It is in a traffic roundabout but there is parking not too far away.

Beautiful imitation Statue of Liberty. Unfortunately is in a bad position outside the town of Colmar in a hard to go roundabout. Be careful of the cars if you visit it.

Who would have thought! What a pleasant surprise to find this statue on a roundabout in Colmar, France. Now that we understand the link between Colmar and the Statue Of Liberty in the United States, it makes perfect sense and a great photo opportunity.

It was sculpted to commemorate the 100th death anniversary of the sculptor Auguste Batholdi, who was born in Colmar and created the "Liberty lightening the world" aka Statue of Liberty according to Colmar municipality. A statue is within roundabout, not easily accessible with lots of traffic.

It is good to see it here, where it also belongs. We saw it for the month of breast cancer, so it had a pink detail.

That’s a great experience especially if you know something about why it’s placed here. However it’s too far from the city centre (like 3km) and it’s not tourist friendly. It’s literally in the middle of the road. But it’s worth it.

Nothing special. A statue in an roundabout intersection. A little replica of Statue of Liberty from New York. Even to make photo it's no so easy. If you want to make pictures go in the evening or in the early morning because the sun in the middle of the day it's behind the statue and all the photos will be contrajours. And be careful to the cars when you make photo from the middle of the street!

Although the statue's placement is not appealing at all, taking a few extra minutes to park near the local shopping center allows for a better vantage point for capturing this remarkable landmark.

Nice to see the Lady in her hometown. If you are in the area, make a quick detour and visit the smaller version. Mote that she stands in a roundabout and you cannot get there without risking your life. So the Instagram pic will have to be a little bit distant.

Small but quality toy museum. Good for a 30 minute visit. Longer if you engage with the interactive exhibits. Our kids loved it!

Nice stop for 1-2 hours... Our baby daughter needed 🍼 (milk bottle), we gave it in there, the people were very friendly, played games with our 5y old son, he also liked the old Nintendo game console :d

This is an amazing little museum. We had so much fun with interactive games. It was really cool to experience also the arcade machine on the second floor. Absolutely recommended for kids from 3 years to infinity. Also the staff here is really nice and accommodating

Very nice for kids getting acquainted with their parents toys (and grandparents too). Fun for all families and active too.

It's not a very big museum but it was enjoyable for about an hour with two kids under the age of 10. There's a very impressive display of Playmobil figurines and likewise the model trains. If you are into dolls there is plenty of creepy for you to view. They do a nice job of demonstrating how toys have evolved through the decades. A display shows a child's room in the 1950s and then compares a child's room in the 1980s. We took a moment to talk with our kids about the differences in theme and materials used. Kids in the 1950s seemed obsessed with space and futurism; kids in the 1980s were more interested in fantasy. I liked that they offered many handmade toys, made in Europe, in the gift shop. We purchased some pick up sticks and had some good family fun back at our hotel.

Great small museum. Staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. My son loved the trains and the marionette show.

A great place to spend 40-50 minutes. They have a nice collection of old toys (even from the late 1800s, lots of toys from the times of WW1 and WW2), an entire floor dedicated to trains, one for dolls and a temporary exhibition for planes. Small sections for construction toys, video games, cars and so on. Just note that all the explanations on the pannels are in French only.

It’s a nice little museum to visit but the sink in the women’s toilet on the ground floor wasn’t working on the day I visited.

If you travel with the kids, this place is a must. If not, it would be nice to visit. The exhibition takes you for a walk among toys from the mid-19th century until today. You also have some interactivity options (eg.: an Arcade game from the 80s). At ground floor, kids may spend some time playing society games or older electronic games (Nintendo like). It will bring up memories for you and some enlightenment for the kids. No meals available in the location, only water and coffee. 1, max 2h would be enough to visit the exhibit.

Loved it! So much fun! The trains on the second floor start to run at the flip of a switch. The toys brought back memories of growing up in the 70s. (if you grew up in the 50s, 80s or 1890s, there are toys for you too!). P.S. Find the Pokemon!

This is a wonderful museum! My partner and I really enjoyed it. Not just for kids - I think this museum would be really interesting no matter what age you are. It was laid out in a great way and the information provided was clear and interesting. (The info is in French on the wall or you can read through translations in other languages - including German and English - from a booklet). The staff were all friendly, toilets clean and there is a coat rack to hang up coats and bags while you check out the museum. Would recommend!

Nice little museum, a three floors old theater filled to the brim with historical toys. It has a large Playmobil display at the entrance, and there's multiple games that kids can go and have a try at.

Loads of fun they had, my 6 year old daughter and her 7 year old cousin. Very interesting toys to look at, including quite a few Barbies throughout the years, loads of games they could actually play, and an 8 minutes puppet show as well! However very small, worth every penny.

Visiting over Christmas, a nice selection of cheeses, meats, breads and deli produce. Easy to access and despite it being Christmas, didn’t have to wait too long. Well worth the visit

This market is more than just the covered like the name says, because it also occupies few more streets around it, with many stalls in the open. The covered part is pretty big with stalls of local producers of various goods - cheese, flowers, meat, fruit and vegetables,... Also there're several pubs and bistros serving tart flambee and other local specialities.

It's a nice market to visit once you're in Colmar. There are quite a number of shops with sausages, cheese, fresh fruits, spices and also restaurants you can even sit down outside by the water. It's definitely worth dropping by.

I have been to several of these food hall and marketplace businesses in my travels. Hötorgshallen in Stockholm, Time Out Market in Lisbon, and the huge Heirloom Market in Philadelphia are similar in design - a huge building with a loop of walkways and food vendors all displaying their meals ready to eat. Some seating here and there and a few places have their own dedicated stools or tables. We did one walk through the hallway and noticed that at 6:45 pm, most of the vendors were getting ready to close up for the day. So we grabbed seats at the next one, asked if they were still taking orders and did so. I didn't know at the time, It turned out to be a vegan restaurant and it was my own fault for not fully translating the "Burger Alsacien" to see that it was chick pea patties. It turned out to be entirely delicious and enjoyable, plus the healthy aspect of it meant that I could have something not-quite-healthy for dessert later. Busy market, lots of options. I suggest that you walk one loop around to see what's good because if you pick just the first one, you'll probably find something else later and go, "Wow, we should have had that!"

One of my favorite places in Colmar. Open 6 days a week closed on Monday. Special treat to eat outside along the canal.

We got some delicious and cute Mannala at a bakery in the market hall. They had many flavors of Mannala, more than those you usually see in other places.

Marché Couvert Colmar is a charming indoor market in Colmar, France. This quaint marketplace is a food lover's paradise, offering a delightful array of fresh produce, cheeses, meats, and regional specialties. The friendly vendors add to the warm atmosphere. Whether you're a foodie or simply seeking an authentic taste of Colmar, a visit to Marché Couvert is a delightful experience. Note that dogs aren't allowed inside. There is also a restaurant that you can have a sit down meal in which is on a platform over the river which is a must do.

This market has all you need. It was my first time in France and this was an amazing place to get all of the traditional French dishes. Everything tasted delicious! Truly satisfied. Thanks for the memories :))

This is an indoor market. 3 star due to no trashcans inside the market. We had to go outside for the trash can. They have variety of food options. It is nice and clean inside. There were no staff available to help, only venders.

It was so nice to see this indoor market that is gradually disappearing again. I went during the Christmas market season, of course it was crowded with people. It was informed that it was only open until 2 o'clock on Sunday, so I arrived in a hurry, but it was open until very late. The people were friendly and the food was delicious👍🏻

Visited on Feb 2023. I always love market and enjoyed walking around the area. So many food stalls it actually confusing which one to try. Very clean, very beautiful and lively. It closes on mondays and tuesdays. I think on the weekends, the market actually extended to the outside of the buildings with several food trucks and street vendors selling fresh vegetables and home-made products to cell phone screenguard nearby the buildings.

I am not a Jew, but I was shocked and appalled to notice several anti-Semitic (and quite frankly vulgar statues) I had read about being placed on certain cathedrals in the dark ages were still here on full display!! What a shame! To the right of one of the front doors is what appears to be a Jew sucking the underside or private parts of a pig. And on the rear of the building overhanging the courtyard is another grotesque sculpture of a similar nature. I would not trust the holiness or purity of any place that--far from removing such a reprehensible stain and apologizing for it ever happening in the first place--still boldly errs in its offense to God and to man. What message does this send? What testimony does it give? What damage you do to God's name.

Two nights in Colmar and it seemed like I was constantly on this roadway that cuts through the center of the city. We had lunch here, we had dinner here, we did shopping here and we walked a lot of Les Marchés de Noël here. There are a couple of large plazas along the way but the narrow roads suggest that the Rue predates any thoughts of urban planning or traffic management. That said, auto and truck traffic is permitted along the Grand Rue and there is scattered parking along the way.

What a unit! This church at the center is mighty impressive. We were only able to view the church from the outside, but even so, it's well worth visiting. The plaza surrounding it is filled with interesting landmarks and pleasant cafes.

A beautiful place is worship. Stained glass, loads of nooks to find a quiet place to contemplate.

A church with lovely ornate animals on the outside of the building and very animated looking statues. At the time of visit, there were parts around the church dug up by an archeology group. Bones were found. Inside the church, beautiful stained windows are worth seeing.

Ah-maze-zing church! The architecture that went into this church is incredible. What’s even more beautiful are the church bells as your standing right in front of the church. I was amazed to say the least. Definitely worth seeing if you are in Colmar.

It is really historical, old and different. Crowded. Many old people visit here and enjoy cafe around church. i feel peaceful, clean, safe and friendly You can see pigeons, really big red maple trees. I enjoyed all time here.

Beautiful church with distinctive roof tiles. The same type you can find on the Koïfhus. There was some construction work on one side and the other is a parking. On the inside, we happened to visit during a ceremony. It definitely added some mystical touch to it.

Beautiful church inside and out. Not as extravagant as some other French Catholic Churches but stunning all the same. There was a lot of construction which made for less than ideal photos but we still enjoyed our visit.

What a beauty?! This building is incredibly detailed. From the carvings to paintings, it’s simply beautiful. We also purchased a bottle of wine that was local to the area, and it was amazing. I am not a big wine drinker but I could have easily bought a few bottles from here. Also, on the sign of the building, there is a QR code. (You can see the QR in one of my photos as an example) The code allows you to scan it and it gives you a virtual map of all the buildings and sites to see around Colmar. It gives you detailed information and the map definitely helped in finding things in the area. I wish I had explored with the guided virtual map some more, but my kid’s weren’t having it.

Built in 1537 for the hatter Ludwig Scherer, who made his fortune with money trading in the Val de Liepvre. Despite its medieval features, the house is the first example of architectural renaissance in Colmar. With its two-storey corner oriel, its wood gallery, its octagonal turret and its mural paintings which represent biblical and secular scenes, the Pfister house became one of the symbols of the old Colmar. It owns its name to the family who restored it and lived there from 1841 to 1892.

One of the best wine shop in town. Great collection of the finest producers from Alsace with plenty of old vintages to choose from.

Best place to buy wine in Colmar! We stopped in to simply look and left with two unique bottles, one which the shopkeeper wrapped for us as a gift for our family. Wonderful staff with lots of knowledge and great range of prices. They also have whisky and rum!

A perfect example of the Renaissance, the Maison Pfister residence was built in 1537. In 1841 the merchant Francois-Xavier Pfister acquired it. Currenlty it houses a wines and spirits shop. A tidbit... "Feaster" is a surname that was adopted by some Pfisters that immigrated to the United States.

This little museum in Colmar is wonderful. Sculpture and models he used to determine his final designs. Great historical info about his life, the museums evolution, and where he lived and worked. This is his home town, and there is a walking tour you can take to see several of his sculptures. Colmar is a quaint and beautiful place.

A wonderful museum in honor of a great artist, Auguste Bartholdi, that was born  in Colmar in 1834. Bartholdi became famous all over the world, as the sculptor who designed the colossal Statue of Liberty in New York City (the statue was given as a gift, by the people of France to the US in 1886). His masterpiece sculpture "Les grands Soutiens du monde" (in English The great supporters of the world) is displayed in the open courtyard of this "boutique" museum.

Interesting to visit, given the relevance of this artist's masterpiece, The Statue of Liberty. The museum is small and quick to visit. Stairs are challenging for those with limited mobility.

The birthplace of sculptor Auguste Bartholdi, the structure was updated and turned into a museum. Full of images and smaller sculptures and studies of the artists creations. You'll be thinking, why does that name ring a bell? Yes, Bartholdi is best known for having created the Statue of Liberty (New York) and the Lion of Belfort (Paris) among other works. Expect to take about an hour to tour the three stories of furniture, models, paintings and photos. Note that the museum closes for lunch.

This is a very interesting museum about Bertholdi in the actual home where he was born. It was great to get to know the man behind the Statue of Liberty. Really amazing place and well worth the five euros to get in.

It was an interesting and quiet museum to learn about the life of the sculptor/the story behind the statue of liberty. Wish the museum was more instructive with the order of each rooms and exhibition though.

By far, one of my favorite museums! It is dedicated to the life of the sculpture, Auguste Bartholdi, who is sadly underrated and unknown given all that he has accomplished. This incredible museum showcases a lot of his scale model drafts and progress throughout his life. I was astounded by the number of sculptures he has creatrd and the story behind how he built the Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the People). It was also fascinating to see the rooms in which he grew up!

We went there as 3 people and the staff was very helpful, we ate 2 flammkuchen, 1 menu(include snails, backoven, and desert), 1 bottlw of wine; we paid 76Eur. Well I personally do not reccommend the casserole, it was too heavy make me uncomfortable.. Flammkuchen includes a kind of chees which smells really bad.. But overall, the athmosphere was nice, the wine was tasty.

Excellent and friendly service with a great hearty menu. Loved our dinner of pork knuckle and steak and fries. The escargot was the best we’ve ever had!

This venue is highly popular among tourists. I had the opportunity to try the onion tart, which was exceptional, and the escargot, which I found superior to those in Burgundy. Additionally, it was my first experience tasting the “tête de veau.” I also tried the lamb cooked for 7 hrs which was a special that day. Better to reserve in advance

LOCATION: Central Comar, along Little Venice, with a small brook covered in trees and flowers on one side, and the old buildings and a cute fountain on the other. MENU has classic Alsace dishes, but no vegetarian main options (can get a flamkuch with no bacon, but they won’t substitute in anything for the same cost). A few beers on tap, but not a lot. TASTE was very good! Cheeses were full flavoured and meats were juicy. STAFF were friendly and spoke some English. OVERALL A solid recommendation for traditional menu and amazing ambience.

We expected a bit more, but overall we had a good stay. The service was super friendly, all the waiters could speak English, the menu was a bit confusing. The food was average, the gratin was very heavy while the tagliatelle as a side of the mustard pork were not really attractive. I would remove them and add some salad instead. The chocolate cake contained also caramel, I would have rather prefer a normal cake. Positively suspended by the price, 53€ for the three dishes, water a glass of wine.

Their food is their best feature, very high quality. Location is good also. But the service is rather frenetic, rushed, and impersonal.

Food was average. The salad was just thin green leaves with standard French dressing but the fois gras and smoked duck magret were excellent. The tartes flambées (very thin crust tart with cheese & onion) was standard. Service super friendly. Toilets are smelly but kept very clean nonetheless.

I had the reign of the queen. I was so excited to eat it but it was sadly PROCESSED ground up chicken. BLECH! the rest was fine, but when one of the main stars of the dish is processed and fake, I dont want to eat the rest. My husband got steak with the maitre'd butter. It was good, but not anything to write home about. Service was fine, but not great or bad. Atmosphere seemed to be great on pictures, but inside was pretty plain and blah.

After we were seated, the waiter asked us why we were at that table. After clarifying with the fellow waiter he seemed fine. It's a bit odd but ok. The food portion was generous but quality was average. Not sure if it was Alsace or the restaurant. We kept fighting with the flies throughout the meal. A bit overpriced. Tips: please do not order the pasta as it is not what you expected.

Perfect location, fantastic breakfast, friendly service and confortante room. Anyhow, considering the price level, there was sonething missing to get the full rating. I velieve it was the mismatch between the historical building and the modern fittings that I would define "essential" and missed the charming atmosphere of a Relais Chateau . As well i discovered that the michelin starred restaurant was closed only after having finalized the hotel booking and the alternative brasserie was by far not at the level.

The hotel is perfectly located in the old city and is beautiful on the outside. The service is excellent and they do an excellent job communicating with you before your stay to arrange transportation, flowers, champagne or whatever you need. The breakfast is outstanding and better than a buffet, each table receives a smorgasbord of wonderful treats, breads, yogurt, jams, hams etc…. And, when I ordered an omelette, the Chef himself brought it to the table. So, why not five stars? It’s a bit dated on the inside and is definitely in need of a refurbishment. The interior design is a mix of old and new and not always in a good way.

La Maison de Tetes, or the House of Heads is a beautiful, yet not extraordinary edifice in central Colmar. However, once here it's worth visiting. It was built in 1609 in Renaissance style by a wealthy merchant who later became a mayor - Anton Burger. The statue on top of the gable of Alsace barrel maker was added by August Bartholdi in 1902, who made the NYC Statue of Liberty and whose museum is here in Colmar. From that 1902 the House served as a Wine Bourse, while today beside that there's a Michelin star restaurant onsite and an upscale hotel.

Accommodations were great. Breakfast was well prepared and plentiful, you will not be disappointed. Parking is a bonus. Dinner was impressive as well. Great chef and good service.

Pros: 1) Excellent location. 2) Experience of staying in 17th Century heritage building 3) Staff is very polite and welcoming. 4) Excellent selection of wines. 5) Room (I stayed in Charme) was just amazing. Cons: 1) No Gym 2) No Spa 3) Huge TV but doesn't work and staff doesn't know how to make it work 4) Air Conditioning stopped at 1 am and only came back at 6 am. 5) No 24x7 reception. So if you have any inconvenience at night, you are on your own. 6) No complementary taxi service not any tie ups with local restaurants or sightseeing places. 7) Not Suitable for vegan/vegetarian people. Some Einsteins here consider fish and egg as vegetarian. 8)Breakfast spread is not good at all. No fresh cut fruits, Limited cereal options. Lot of bakery.

It was ok. Not 5 stars for sure, clean but outdated. The breakfast is a sugar and carbs assault in the system. Come late (After 9) and you have to go into the hotel through a different access which we were not informed about first time ! Location was great for us but hard to find for drivers.

We had a perfect stay here, by far the most special hotel we have stayed in during our many trips to Colmar. The hotel is beautiful, tasteful modern decor sympathetic to the heritage of the building. The bed was amazingly comfortable and we even had a small balcony overlooking the main street. Staff are friendly, professional and multi lingual. Parking on site can be pre-booked. Breakfast is a real treat and the special gifts of home made pastries on check in and check out are something different. Highly recommended.

The staff at maison des tetes were very friendly and helpful with setting us up on tours and with local restaurants! On that note, one of the best meals we had all trip was in the brasserie historique in the hotel, as well as a beautiful included breakfast every am. The hotel had wonderful air conditioning that held up during a heatwave of 90 degrees F, and even offered a Dyson fan if we needed it. AC is rare for the area, so to be very cold in our room during a heatwave was much appreciated.

The hotel is most certainly not 5 star, not sure why Relais & Chateau partnerd with it. Dodgy entrance through the back alley, dark lobby&reception that feels like a 2-star motel, smell of vinegar everywhere on the ground floor, carpet in the corridors has large stains every 2 meters. ☠️☠️☠️ The rooms itself is nothing to write home about. The “centerpiece” table is scuffed and the furniture feels super dated. There’s a thick layer of dust on the room lamps and windows—super gross. 🤢 The service is lovely andnd friendly, but that’s about it. Won’t stay here again and glad we only have one night here.

I stayed one night at this lovely property in September. Before my stay, I reached out to the hotel for a recommendation on a driver/guide that could take my two friends and I around to the local wineries. They connected us with the incomparable Jean. We had an amazing time exploring Alsace before arriving to the hotel. When we arrived to the property, we were warmly greeted by two young women at the front desk. They were lovely, kind, and helpful. I received a complimentary room upgrade. My room was large, clean, and comfortable. I slept well. The breakfast served on-site was phenomenal! The breads, the cheese, the meats, and the preserves were all delicious. I also had the best kiwi and yogurt that I have ever tasted in my entire life. Please stay here! You won’t regret the decision.

We were there in December, so the Christmas Village crowds were at a high. The church was such a beautiful structure, but too crowded to get inside. This village redeemed my feelings about France (not a fan of Paris) with only one rude restaurant owner who clearly did not like Americans. The rest of the folks were so sweet and cheery.

Case in point: we were handed a list of three taxi companies serving the town but suspect they are not interested in short deliveries in town. So no taxis. My friend who spoke no French asked if the young lady working could phone the taxi for him. A flat no even though it was late in the afternoon and absolutely no one but us was in their building. We asked for a bus map and where we could take a bus to the car rental place for Enterprise as they gave us a list of rental cars, their phone numbers and addresses. Again the young lady only had to check the bus routes to tell us how to take one. But no, we were sent off with that map and some vague gestures as to where we might find one. (Strangers on the street were more helpful to us showing us the locations.). Finally we took bus 6 and got off at Manufacture spot to walk to our Enterprise car rental. After about walking 30 minutes in a mostly industrial zone, we arrived at the address for Enterprise rental car that was on the list given to us by the tourist office in Colmar. There was no Enterprise rental business at that location. Our 79 year old friend ( with quintuple heart bypasses) had to walk almost out to the airport to the “new” location. Does no one know how to fact check there?

If you are in a bug group a d the sun is shining than you can hide in the shade infront of the entrance.

We disliked Colmar. I've had it on my to go list for years and it was a huge disappointment. Overrun with tourists like me who had heard how pretty and quaint it is, and absolutely heaving full of cars driving right through the centre of what feels like pedestrian areas.
