Beautiful town in spain with its iconic ancient Aqueduct. The old buildings in the town are also beautiful. You can climb up the stairs just behind the aqueduct to see the view of the town and aqueduct from above, which is breathtaking. We were there when it was quite cloudy, and still beautiful, but definitely will be much prettier with clear skies.

Holy moly this was absolutely amazing! We drove by it on our way in but that was nothing compared to walking up to it. My wife and I walked alongside it to the main entrance where it came from underground and were able to see the carved out top as it was waist high at that point. We also say a filtration station and then came back in the evening for pictures on the other side up high with great views of the city. Definitely recommend as it’s one of the most well preserved aqueducts I’ve ever seen.

Truly fascinating it was still standing up today. 16km of marvelous architecture built centuries ago. It's now a tourist attraction here in Segovia, Spain. The actual city was kept in its original form and structure, with some retouches to restore the Grandeur it was. No doubt, this is one of the top 3 sites not to miss in Segovia. Although I'd strongly recommend to visit the Alcazar and the Cathedral first and leaving the aqueduct for the end, before taking the bus (11,12) back to the train station. The old city is off course charming and to reach those landmarks you'll stroll in the narrow medieval streets and enjoy its special atmosphere. With Toledo, it is definitely the best day trip from Madrid!

This is a popular touristical spot for a great photograph. Still, it's a wonderful reminder of the engineering might of the Roman empire and I always come back for that memory. You Will no doubt enjoy walking around the neighborhood and up the hills to take in the sights and to take a bite at one of the many restaurants specializing in suckling, lamb and pig. This one of the most outstanding architectural sites. It amazes me that it is 2,000 years old. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in the plaza and restrooms to make it a great outing. Don't forget to climb the stairs on the side of the plaza to get a perspective from the top of the aqueduct.

We took a day trip to both Toledo and Segovia, and between the two of them, we much preferred Segovia. The aqueduct is massive, much bigger than I expected, and creates a striking image with the town scenery in the background. There are no entrance fees or lines necessary, and many restaurants are available around the aqueduct. Overall, the aqueduct is what makes Segovia unique (and my personal favorite day trip from Madrid). If you visit Segovia, it's impossible to miss--also because it's the first thing we saw when we drove up.

Very well preserved considering that the Aqueduct was built 2000 years ago. Very pleasant walk along the structural on cobblestone streets. This Castle is IMPRESSIVE! Totally worth the visit 💯. The views from the top are amazing specially the natural scenery around it. This medieval castle was the real inspiration for Disney World Castle, if you notice. All the rooms inside are beautifully layout and decorated, the armor and weapons replicas and objects and things from that time are so real that you can easily imagine life in these times. Pay attention to all the details and work on the walls and ceilings on each room, really gorgeous! And the town of Segovia is one of my favorites, such a cute and vibrant town, love it 💗💟💗

Most people walk around inside the town, but you should get out of the stone wall and enjoy the view from outside. It would not disappoint your kids to bring them to the castle which is distinctive by virtue of its shape - like the bow of a ship. A nice twelve century building. You can choose to walk up the hill or take a tourist bus. The way up the hill is amazing, the views are incredible and is worth it. You can take a lot of photos outside the castle and you can stroll along the small park. Many souvenir shops nearby, but many of them are expensive. I recommend the one just right outside the castle, it is cheaper and has more souvenirs like magnets, postcards, clothes and more.

Iconic place in Segovia. It was nostalgic to visit it again after 40 years. The aqua duct is so impressive. Walking through the old town was amazing. Seniors be aware that it is a difficult walk. One of the most if not the most beautiful castle listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site just 75 mins away drive from Madrid! A must see when in Segovia! Visit at sunset during summer months (open til 8pm) to experience a romantic stroll through the palace walls and garden. Quite a beautiful castle. The walk is furthest from town so I would suggest visiting it first thing. We prebought tickets but it wasn't necessary during low season. The castle has nice details and rooms to look. The countryside view is wonderful and the towers and areas to explore are lovely.

Pretty nice castle to visit. Surrounded by a valley with a nice view. As of Nov 2022, it was 6 euros to go inside and an extra 3 euros totaling 9 to climb tower, which I would say is worth it. There is a bathroom / toilet immediately after entering in the cellar. No food or drinks sold inside. You buy tickets in the building next door on the left. Ground floor takes about 15 -45 to explore , depending on how fast you go. The castle isn't that big, only about 9 rooms or so to visit, plus a gift shop. The tower you have to pay for separately, and you're only allowed up in timed intervals as part of a group. (We learned this the hard way after missing a schedule departure, because our primary school Spanish was not up to par and the gift shop lady did not speak good English). They say it is 152 steps, and I'd approximate it is about 4-6 stories worth of staircases. IMO not an issue at all for any healthy kid or adult, but otherwise will pose an issue. The staircase is very narrow. View is pretty good, and I think if you're already here you might as well pay the extra few euros to check it out. At a brisk pace through everything you could probably see it all in 1 hour (depends on the timing of the tower tour, it is set intervals at 00:15 and 00:45 as far as I can tell). A more moderate relaxed pace will probably land you at around 1-1.5 hours, maybe 2 hours if you take your time (as we did). Glad we did it though, was a decent castle as far as European castles go.

Worth the trek to visit this beautiful castle. Tips buy the tower pass. You get great views of Segovia. But the best view of the cathedral is from the terrace behind the Alcazar's restaurant. It is said the towers were the inspiration for one of the Disney castles.

Worthwhile trip with a very good display of ancient weapons through to the late 1700's. The tapestries are also very good. The structure itself looks more impressive from the outside and internally and is a lot smaller than a lot of other Alcazar that we have seen in Spain. Hence the 4 rating. Don't let that detract you from visiting as it still has a lot of merit.

You probably need about 15-20 minutes to finish a tour inside the castle. I would not say this is the most beautiful castle, but it is still unique in its own way and is well maintained throughout the years. Some say that even the castle in Snow White was made mirroring this castle. P.s. Toilets are found at the entrance of the castle. Free of charge.

This fortress is a must see in Segovia. Definitely worths to go through every room available for the visit, discover Christian and Muslim blend in architecture and designs. The visit of the tour started at 13:00 and it was guided by staff. The views from the rooftop are breathtaking. The site offers audioguide through an app, on visitors' phone. It's very convenient, no need to carry an additional device. Ticket price with audioguide and tower visit was 13,50 EUR.

Absolutely amazing cathedral. I've seen a lot of them and this was impressive. One of the largest in Spain. All of the side rooms with the ornate statutes and places to pray, the center areas where they keep the valuables and lead worship, and the old original section that did not get destroyed hundreds of years ago.. all is fantastic. The organs were really impressive.

You just can't go wrong with Spanish cathedrals. And this one is extraordinary inside and out. Built with Gothic and Renaissance components, it's truly a beautiful piece of artistic architecture. Usually I’m very reluctant against paying access to see a religious monument, but here I took my chance, and it didn’t disappoint. Only once you are inside you will find out how gigantic this building really is. The Cathedral is more impressive from the outside than inside, particularly with it's close proximity to the Plaza Mayor. When the lights come on at night, you can get some great photos from the Plaza. Having said that, the Spanish do their cathedrals really well. Amazing Cathedral.  There is an admission fee, you pay at the booth before you enter the cathedral.  Advanced tickets are not necessary. You can also pay to go up the top of the belltower for beautiful views of Segovia.  Be warned, the stairwell up to the top is long, dark, with many, many stairs.  They break it out with small breaks on two floors.  They show a video of the history of the cathedral on the first break.  The second break is a tour of the bell tower quarters.  The views from the top are beautiful and fully worth the effort to make it to the top.

Luckily I got to visit the cathedral 1 hour before the guided tour to the tower, so I got a ticket for both. Mrs. Eva was our guide and explained in detail at every step what was like to live in the tower. There is also audioguide included and video projections for the tower part. In the cathedral there is a religious paintings section where one can install an app and have audioguide on own smartphone. The full ticket would include the Episcopal Palace as well, which is within walking distance from the cathedral.

The Cathedral is an impressive building on itself, admire history and art of Castilla and beyond within it's walls. The 2 baroque organs in the Choir are 2 of the most beautiful I've seen. Go up the 190 steps (in 3 stages) of the tower to know secrets and visit the bell-ringer"s home and admire the views towering Segovia and beyond. You're lucky if you get Santi as your guide!

The main or best known public square in Segovia is much like the Plaza Mayor of major cities in Spain. Arranged around the square are lots of bars, cafes and restaurants. Our visit to the palace was well with the twenty minute drive from Segovia. We were fortunate to have our own car and could go on our schedule, but we also heard there are daily buses from Segovia for those without a car. We opted for our own audio tour using an app they installed in our phone, which was offered in English among other languages. The palace is definitely grand and we enjoyed touring the various rooms. One of the highlights was the tapestry rooms/ museum, which contained the nicest set of tapestries, some very large, that we have seen. Other highlights were the various chandeliers and frescoes on the ceilings. The short visit to the church, included in the visit price, was also worthwhile. And after the tour we took a walk in the gardens. Although it was quite cold during our visit the garden walk was still quite nice. The land/ gardens are huge with many different areas to explore. We probably only walked a small fraction, but saw many fountains and good views of the estate and the mountains in the background. Recommend if you are in the area and have the time.

Visitors of Segovia might find this place hard to reach without a car. From Segovia, go to Estacion Autobuses, take the line M-8 from Linecar. Buy ticket from the driver, with cash, 1,70€ one way. More information on time schedule below and in the pictures. It worths the visit both for the Palace and the gardens. Trees are the biggest asset of this huge garden. According to official statement there are about 100.000 trees here. They have a great app as audioguide that you can use on your own phone for the Palace, the church and the gardens. Since you're here, take the opportunity to also visit the nearby Real Fabrica de Cristales.

We downloaded the tour to the phone (couldn't get it to work in advance - it kept refusing payment but at the ticket place we paid and the lady gave us a code and they had wifi to download it). Bit disappointed that you weren't allowed to take photos inside as some of the rooms are amazing (reason for knocking a star off the rating). A bit more expensive than some of the places we visited, but still remarkable value (less than £20 for two adults and child) compared to equivalent UK places. Parking on the street a short distance away on the road approaching the palace was fine (morning in late July).

I recently visited Mirador de la Pradera in Segovia and it was a fantastic experience. The weather was perfect - calm, sunny, and no clouds - which made for some incredible views of the castle. The Alcazar of Segovia is a stunning structure and from the Mirador, you can take in panoramic views of the castle and the surrounding landscape. However, there was one minor issue that may be worth noting for some visitors - there was cotton everywhere. It looked like it was snowing and while it didn't detract too much from the experience, it may be a concern for those with allergies or sensitivity to airborne particles. Aside from that, the Mirador de la Pradera is a must-visit spot in Segovia. The views are simply breathtaking and it's a great place to take photos or just soak in the scenery. Plus, it's an easy walk from the city center, so it's a convenient stop for anyone exploring Segovia. Overall, I highly recommend visiting the Mirador de la Pradera if you're in Segovia. Just be aware of the cotton if you have allergies or sensitivities.

The place is well located relative to the Cathedral but far enough away from Plaza Mayor to make it quiet. Major complaint is it is at the bottom of a hill. Super easy to find. It is also mostly stroller/wheelchair accessible in terms of the entrance; everything is located on the ground floor with a ramp into the building. (Shower is not wheel chair accessible. Room is stroller accessible.) The room was tidy and clean. The price was pretty good, especially considering almost everything else was like €60+ more for a single night. The shower worked well. Enough toilet paper to not worry. They had a SmartTV/Amazon fire stick which was great if you have a kid who wants to watch things like Cocomelon. They had a fridge you could store medication in if you asked. They had shampoo (1 star hotel). They were super easy to communicate with. They had lockers, so if you wanted to show up early, drop a bag or check out, leave your bag and then return because of a later train, super feasible. There were great views out the window. I don't think there is AC but the heat works and there is a fan to improve airflow and cool things down. They have a pull out couch or pull out chair set up so you can sleep a kid. (You can't fit three adults in here, max two adults plus a kid.) On the toddler front, this place isn't catering to babies and toddlers. It is feasible if you're bed sharing. Practically speaking, you have to watch toddlers who can open door handles as they can escape out the door. The window was a set of double doors, which had the mental fence thing. I had fears toddler might be able to get out the side so I kept the door closed. But that's pretty much it. And that's a my selection issue, not a them issue. Not my favorite hotel in Segovia but if looking to do a cheap overnight or two to get away from Madrid, it is a really nice option to have and use. If I was looking for budget accomodation in the city again, i would use them happily.

“Great historical property, wonderfully accessible by car with secure parking area and close to town center” This hotel was PERFECT for someone driving into town with a rental car. The secure parking was lovely and there were covered annd uncovered options. The hotel is on the edge of the historical part of Segovia, and situated right at the top/beginning of the ancient Roman aqueduct which is less than one block away. This location meant that we could get there by car without venturing into the super narrow cobblestone streets of the old city but we were right next to all of that. It was about a 12 minute walk downhill to the heart of the shopping and historical district near the main span of the aqueduct. Virtually the entire walk you are walking alongside the 2000 year-old aqueduct and you could feel the history on the walk. The neighborhood felt very safe for myself and my college aged daughter who was on spring break learning about history of Spain. The location was a 25 minute walk to the cathedral and the plaza Mayor. It took us maybe 35 minutes to walk to the Alcazar through the most beautiful, winding scenic historical parts of the city. If we came back to Segovia I would ABSOLUTELY stay at this hotel again! The breakfast was delicious and served buffet style with many options including Jamon Iberico many different bread, options, several different types of coffee, sausages, cheeses, eggs, etc. The rooms were a bit sparse, but that was to be expected from staying in a historical property that used to be a monastery/convent. The center courtyard was lovely with the historic layout of the old monastery, adding to the ambience with columns and arches reminiscent of La Mesquita in Cordoba. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is an elevator for those who do not want to use the stairs. In summary, the location was AMAZING, the easy in/easy out secured parking was excellent, the breakfast was delicious, and the historical nature of the property made it feel special. I would absolutely recommend this hotel for first time visitors who want to experience beautiful, historic Segovia.

The hotel is in an excellent position. Right at the start of the acuaduct. The rooms have tiled floor but there is a/c heatibg/cooling in room. No balconies. The room furniture is very basic, tv only in Spanish. Breakfast was a continental spread with a few warm items(scrambled eggs, bacon and hotdog mini sausages), service clearing tables slow. Parking available in nice garden with inner courtyard. Close to all sites, and loads of restaurants and cafes etc.

Receptionists were great and helpful CONS: bar staff and restaurant server were extremely rude, with a passive aggressive tone. We understand we all have bad days, but this poor customer service was a constant with them and did spoil the vibe. Which makes us not consider going back to this amazing place, given we didn't feel welcome by them.

Really loved this hotel! Fantastic warm decor, like stepping into a royal palace. Used to be a monastery but now is a hotel. Artifacts and decor reflect this. The room was so comfortable, cool airconditioning on a hot day, very warm/soft linen and modernized bathroom. Everything clean and perfect. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. It's in a great location, 10 min walk to the Aqueduct. Parking is included and free. Loved the breakfast also but didn't have a chance to try the restaurant for lunch or dinner as I was busy touring Segovia! Thanks for the wonderful stay, will come back here again.

This hotel is clearly living off its past history as a convent. When opened it must have been very grand and opulent. But clearly corners were cut when it came to separating the rooms. We could hear everything said in adjacent rooms. To be kept awake by constant snoring in an adjacent room in a 4 star hotel is unacceptable. Rooms are beginning to look tired and need a refresh. This said the staff were very friendly. It has good parking and is very close to the start of the famous Aqueduct leading into the centre of the city. Original courtyard which is great for drinks when the sun is out. Buffet breakfast was a delight. But if you want a quiet night's sleep think before you book.

Above a third of the way up the hill to the Alcazar is public square, Plaza de Medina del Campo. Flanked by beautiful Church of San Martin on one side and by nice looking hotels and shops on the other. At the centre of the square is a set of steps that take you up to the old watch tower. On the way up you'll also pass a monument to Juan Bravo, one of the leaders of the failed Revolt of the Comuneros. There's a restaurant near the top of the steps and because it's about 5 metres above the street level, it's a nice pace to sit and people watch. Don't go out of the way to see this though, as you're more likely to be walking past to get to the Cathedra, Alcazar or Plaza Mayor.

Just visited the Segovia Mint for the first time and enjoyed the immense knowledge which Glenn Murray has stored in his head; incredible recall of dates, Kings, reigns, and events surrounding the founding and production of the Mint. What is amazing is on my many previous visits to Segovia spanning over 3 decades, I always looked down from the castle, El Alcazar and questioned the fact why the Spanish government, or at least the city of Segovia would not showcase a jewel such as the Segovia Mint which lay in ruins?? Were it not for Glenn's initiative, and drive I'm sure the Mint would still be the ruins in the river bed I first viewed from El Alcazar in 1976.? Please continue to invest in this jewel of a Spanish landmark not only for numismatist world-wide, but for current and future generations to enjoy and learn from the past! Well done...

Though a very short wall, you get a different view of Segovia and surroundings. The ticket is 2-3 Euro. You need to find the office and get the code to open the door. You may not notice the office open since few people know you can climb the wall.

The Romanesque architecture for churches is the more common one in Segovia. This church is a fine example. It took two centuries to finish building Iglesia de San Millán (11th to 13th). The results are simply beautiful. It's unfortunate that many churches in Segovia remain closed most of the time. As a tourist, you only get to see them from the outside. Try to get in on Sundays when some of them are open for liturgy.
