Beautiful place in Marseille. Good for trekking and camping

Amazing, crystal clear water with beautiful nature. There are many different hiking routes with helpful information on the way that shows you the path. Lovely place with sweaty tanned joggers and students that welcome you along the beautiful hiking route. If you are feeling dangerous there is a little climbing route down to the beach with chains that have an SM feel to it. Went with my girlfriend and she looked great the whole trip. Ten out of ten. Place was nice too!

No wonder why this place is now a national park since 2012. Natural beauty used by many in different ways like hiking, swimming, rock climbing, boating, kayaking, and more. Even nudist beaches if this is your liking.

There's free parking up the little road. Walk up to see the best views. When you reach cross junction go to the left & up the mountain.

The calanques are beautiful and it is amazing to swim around and jump of the cliffs, but it is challenging to get there. Don't underestimate the hike (it is worth it tho, I promise 😉).

Very good spot for swimming but there is NO sand on the beach its made with natural polished stones. There is 3 calanque there and i recommend it all and take atleast 2 bottle of water and sun cream

Ooooooooomg !! Just look at the photos and book whatever you need to to get there. Impressive. Stunning. Outstanding. Ps: you may walk for a long time so try to come the closest as possible in a vehicle or bicycle. But truly worth it. You can hurt yourself too so pay attention.

Walking down to the calanque, breathing in clean air with a pine smell - what can be better? I felt in love with this place 10 years ago and I was so happy to be back here during my honeymoon.

Cute ride across Cassis with a stop next to one of the creeks of the Calanques (view from the top). We were ignored at first when we were waiting to get on the train, that was quite rude. But the owner later excused himself and explained there were technical difficulties. During our ride, the audio with the descriptions worked well though.

Silly little train ride, mostly up hills in the area with large houses behind walls. Not much to see. At the end a view of the canyon. Not worth it at all. Waist of time. Would not recommend.

Bought tickets at tourist office for 3.15pm only to be told the train was full of people who hadn't ordered or booked and just turned up, paying on the spot. Driver was particularly unhelpful going on rude. Just avoid at all cost and save your money for a company that actually does half decent business.

Great way to get to the Calanques!

Cassis is one of the beautiful small towns in south of France. It's lovely and nice. The beach is fancy, in front of it, there are many cafes and restaurants, as well as the downtown of Cassis. Here are many shops and you could find local stuff and souvenirs from Cassis. You will have nice time here. It's worth to visit.

Good beach! I would not recommend it for a sunset but generally for laying down and chilling it is perfect. It gets really busy over the summer and last time I went there in the summer we had some troubles with finding a nice spot (or actually any spot). Loads of parking nearby so there is no trouble with that.

Beautiful (rather small) beach with amazing colors of the water, ranging from turquoise to light blue. Quite impressive waves today with an agitated sea. Very quiet with only a few visitors but we're still in March, clearly off season.

I really liked it, a must see if you are visiting the region. I went on 1st October by train from Marseille, really quick journey and took M1 bus to downtown, runs every 30-60minutes. It was sunny and warm outside, up to 24°c. Sea was freezing cold but good for refreshing anyway. Beach has also toilets facilities, 1€ each or 2€ for shower.

One of the easiest approachable calanques by car. Cassis is a town mainly famous for its grand mer beach and chateau. The beach is clean and the water temperature remains around 23°C even during the heat wave. Plenty of space to put your parasols and enjoy. It’s close to the cassis port and hence a lot of restaurants and shops nearby at a walking distance. The Beach has shower as well. Rental for kayak and other stuff possible here. For parking, there are many parking in the town. One has to park there and walk to the beach. Evenings are pretty happening here.

The beach was clean, nice, friendly visitors there enjoying a good time. There are some sort of cement stair levels in the back where you can sit if you don't wish to swim or sit on the gravel.

Wow, this town is beautiful and clean and safe and all good! A huge difference from Marseille and we love it! There are many nooks and crannies to venture to and we don’t feel obliged or pressured to be buy anything. Nice residents The office is helpful also with some pointers and tips! :-)

I entered the tourism office first thing when I arrived here, the staff are friendly and helpful. The maps and flyers they gave me were very informative and helped me throughout my day at this nice village!.. A nearby castle shows towards the south side on a cliff by the seaside.

Very unfriendly staff. Not willing to answer basic questions about the hiking options around Cassis & La Ciotat. Need to refer to a brochure in French now, even though we would have preferred an English brochure or at least an explanation of the options in English. I would recommend some customer friendliness training.

Very helpful, convenient waterfront position

We went there to find activities to do around Cassis for our teenagers. The woman tried to be helpful but unfortunately for her, there's not much to do for teenagers at Cassis. There are no soccer or volleyball fields and nothing to do in the evenings apart from the evening market that has around ten stands selling trinkets. On a positive note, Cassis remains a pretty beachside city with clean beaches and some trees that offer shade. It also offers a variety of restaurants, so if you came here to eat, you will not be dissapointed! Unfortunately, there are a lot of cars here and in some places, the sidewalks are inexistant. To top it off, we learned that the day after a thunderstorm, all the beaches are closed! My daughters finally spent the day on their phones because there was not much else to do.

If you imagine visiting the south of France with the James Bond film Casino Royale or the black and white classic Casablanca as your inspiration, you’ll be disappointed. Clearly this small casino is not home to high rolling masters of espionage or even the backdrop for love with a piano soundtrack. However, it is a place you can enjoy a drink, spend time trying your luck on the slots, or wager on a table.

Struggling to find a decent beach in the area, we came across this one. Well, at first it seemed better than crowded beaches around until something disgusting started to come out of hidden pipe into the water. When we walked around we found tones of garbage everywhere (here in the south of France lots of youngsters groups are out and this explains mainly the source of pollution) aluminum drinks bottles, broken glass bottles, thrown away items, socks, fishermen stuff...all dumped on the beaches... Fabulous place. You need to ne prepared for hiking as there are some very rough sections unless you take the flat steep section which is perhaps 3 times onger.

I'm not sure why this little beach gets so many low reviews. When we arrived in February it felt nice and there were only around 2 to 5 other people at any given time. It felt very isolated and you soon forget that there's a whole city above you. We found lots of sea glass and enjoyed watching the waves crash over all the pebbles.

Should have read the newer reviews before going. We were recommended to visit by the Cassis tourist information centre, they said bookings aren't required so we walked there today (Saturday 17th September) to find the door closed and no answer to the doorbell or intercom despite being there during the opening times as posted on the door. It would have been useful to at least have a sign on the door saying it was closed. For the owners - you may want to tell the information centre and hotels that you aren't open as they are recommending visits to you!

Camille was beyond warm and welcoming! We came during the off season when tours were unavailable, yet she provided us with so much information about the wines we were purchasing. She even gave us a small taste of a few! Afterwords she walked us out- but before saying goodbye, she showed us a lovely view on the side of the building overlooking the ocean and provided us with restaurant recommendations! Lovely experience.

We attempted to visit this vineyard for a scheduled tour and tasting on Saturday 15 July at 11am as advertised on the website. We arrived at 10:40 and were stopped at the gate and rather than put our names down and being invited to wait in the tasting room, sent away and told to come back at 11:00 when the tour started, despite the fact the sign on the door said they were open for business. When we returned promptly at 11:00 a sign had been put on the door saying closed until noon due to a tour in progress. We rang the bell and the same person greeted us and told us the tour was now full! We asked why we had been sent away and asked to return if this was the case. In return for our troubles we were offered a free tasting at noon. We returned promptly at noon and rang the bell multiple times and were completely ignored for over ten minutes. Another worker unlocked the gate to let herself in but did not invite us in. Again, the sign by the gate said they were open for business this entire time. We were shocked by the rudeness with which we were treated on our holiday in Cassis, and wasted a lot of time walking to and from the vineyard. We would therefore not recommend this vineyard for visits to anyone.

Beautiful turquoise colored water in a small cove area makes for a nice sheltered swimming area. It can get very crowded on the weekends but the cool water feels amazing on a hot Summer day. You can even do some cliff jumping on the limestone cliffs nearby. You’ll have to find parking along the hills before you get to the beach.

Plage du Bestouan is a nice little pebble beach to swim in and tan. The water is cristal blue and clean, also expect it to be cold despite how hot the day is. Gets busy in the summer, but people are respectful. Definitely worth the experience.
