Incredible how an edifice remained standing throughout centuries, impervious to weather and the changing of kingdoms. No wonder it appeals to my mystical cord. Left the motorcycle in town and climbed the hill up to the tor - takes roughly 35 to 40’ but it’s worth the effort. The road takes you up and up through quiet fields, the silence broken by sheep bleating and birds chirping. The view from the tor is vast and very green (after all, this is England), and is good to just sit, relax and maybe embark in some meditation. A good day trip, a nice couple of hours spent walking to a somewhat ethereal place (if you like the concept behind it). Visited in the end of April, near Beltane, and could feel the atmosphere in town and near White Spring [reservoir].

Love the Tor! It’s a steep but short walk (25-35 minutes up) , lots of places to rest on the way up, the views are stunning, dogs welcome, there are normally some sheep doing sheep things, so bear that in mind if you take your pooch.

Stunning views of all around. There's a shuttle bus (fees apply) running from the town centre which is hand as you can't park very near. The walk up starts straight forward but soon gets a little tricky at the end. There are two approaches, one winding path (recommended) and a straight up path on the other side. We went on a very windy day and I've never felt wind like it - at the top I felt like I couldn't been scattered over Somerset - but there was good camaraderie between walkers! There isn't anything to do nor particularly see in itself, but the view is spectacular and it is free to visit.

Toriffic views from up there, upon the mound, which is rumoured to have been built by King Arthur's wife Guinevere in 555AD, as an elaborate plan to hide the Holy Grail.

Great walk which ends with very impressive views of the surrounding countryside. The tower at the top is picturesque and a wide area around provides ample room for picnicking. Yhere is a dial on top which points out areas, directions and distances to local points of interest showing a relief to help orientate you. The walk is steep and takes about 30 mins for experienced walkers from Glastonbury. The only downside is parking is limited and expensive in the town.

If you’re interested in an panoramic incredible view and a great workout- you’ve found the right trek! It wasn’t too bad of a walk once you made it to the base of the tor (only took 15 mins to get to the top). But most start out somewhere in the city- so it took about 30-45 mins to get to the base. Once we got to the top- we loved the sunset we caught! The view from the top is worth the trek!!!! Take a bottle of water and a snack and you’re all set!

The tower is an amazing piece of architecture. The Tor is steep to climb up but is well worth the effort and will reward you with breathtaking far ranging views over the country side. You can see why this is such a mystical and spiritual place. A must visit in Glastonbury.

We visited at the end of December A lovely walk, well worth the climb for views. Steps 80% of the way and concrete paths. With strength and a little determination Sturdy pushchairs can make it to the top! (See last pic) Most steps are quite shallow and wide and there is the option of grass most of the time alongside the steps. Parked in the SRLM carpark and coupled it with a trip to the museum and recharged in the cafe afterwards.

It seems that some people are expecting a multi story carpark, an escalator and someone to rub their feet when they arrive here. The place is just barely detached from what’s around it, meaning a 10 minuet brisk walk or a 20 minuet slow paced jaunt from the centre of town. It’s got amazing views and the walk to the top is very peaceful and straightforward for almost anyone, potentially even with a wheelchair. There are 0 facilities because it’s a hill with a shell of an abbot on top. The history and mythology is very interesting you have a very calm, yet energetic feeling when at the top. It seems it was once used as a place of execution. Watch out for the 🐉

Definitely worth a visit if you're nearby. Even though the wind was cold and the rain kept coming in showers, it was a great place to make the effort to get to. Parking in the road near the town was easy and free. The walk up wasn't too bad. Good path and steps. Fantastic views from the top. Interesting building and lots of info en route.

The view from the Tor is absolutely amazing! You can literally see for miles. For seasoned walkers the climb is fairly straightforward, but for more casual walkers (like myself) you'll have to put in a bit of effort! There are a few small benches on the way up where you can rest if you need to. If parking in the town centre it's about a 40-minute walk to the top at a moderate pace. On a warm day this would make a great picnic spot, there's plenty of room around the Tor itself and the grounds. Well worth a visit and a great way to get your steps in.

Well worth the visit. Amazing 360 degree views and a calming feeling. Reasonable walk to get to the top. You'll need to be a bit fit or it's ok to stop. Takes about 15 to 20 mins to get to the top. Calm going up and down but very windy on top when we went so hold your hat! Parking was £3. Take an empty water bottle and fill up at the spring!

Absolutely amazing chilled out place on a lovely sunny day. Take a picnic if you want or there is a small coffee / snack shop in the grounds. I think entrance fee was about £11 for adults. They had a civil war re-enactment display in the grounds and was well worth the entrance fee. Also, allegedly the burial place of King Arthur!

Whilst the majority of the abbey is now in ruins, what remains is stunning. The majority of the site is accessible to all and the museum is very informative. We visited early on a Sunday morning and it did pick up from half 11 onwards so getting there early is recommended to get the whole site to yourself.

Definitely a must when in Glastonbury. I came here not expecting too much but the sheer size of the ruins coupled with the guided tours and museum make this worth the visit. There are a few ponds and fields which make this a lovely place to walk around. Will definitely come back if I am ever in the area again.

Had an absolute blast at this years Glastonbury Medieval Fayre. Was well worth the visit. From sword fighting tutoring to archers trying to bring down the enemy it was wonderful. The highlight being the jousting with a touch of humour from the stunt team. What a day!

There’s a place for children to draw and play a little, small bookstore where you can donate books and buy them for a small price. Beautiful ruins with a great little museum prior. Staff are helpful and it's worth waiting for a guided tour to take you around (no extra charge) you are free to roam about the abbey as long as it's open once your tickets are sorted. I recommend buying in advance as they are slightly cheaper online than on the gate. Students: bring your student card with you.

Glastonbury is a really cool town with lots to see of its own accord. But the Abbey is a key stop. Pillaged by Henry VIII, the remains have a very eerie and spiritual vibe about them. There were many people doing yoga, picnicking, and meditating on the grounds. We were lucky to have a beautiful day to walk around the ruins. For me, the supposed burial site of King Arthur was a real thrill. I have loved the legend and would love to think that this was a final resting place. Be forewarned, parking is very hard to come by.

Very intriguing site. Loved seeing and reading about the ancient artifacts and buildings. Museum is great. Before our visit of Glastonbury, my wife and I did read the Mary Stewart trilogy of King Arthur and Merlin. You can almost put yourself in the Era. Magical. A must see. Also walked around town, got something to eat and bought souvenirs.

Absolutely beautiful. Words can not express the beautiful gardens and the spiritual feeling that comes from being here. From goosebumps on top of goosebumps, chills to warmth running through your body. The gardens are extremely well kept and everywhere is so clean and tidy. If you are in Glastonbury, do not hesitate to visit here. It's only a little walk outside of the town and one that is certainly worth it. Maybe a visit before or after the walk to the Tor. Also a great little shop as you are leaving which is also worth a stop to have a look around and buy gifts.

Beautiful little garden just off the main road. Garden has a natural spring at the top viewed from a well opening which runs down through the garden to the bottom. There are several water features /ponds.It’s set out as a healing and tranquility garden so loud talking,phonecalls etc are severely frowned upon.It was worth a look and a taste of the iron rich water from the lions head fountain, hopefully it’s a fountain of youth.If you need to go relax and sit for a while to align your chakras then this is the place.Across the road is the reservoir building which inside is dark with candles and has a pool full of naked singing ladies 😳 , I’m not sure if they are there full time.

What an absolute Heaven for those that enjoy nature, meditation, and tranquillity!! It just feels you stepped into another world filled with peace and calm away from all the chaos and hustle of the world. Loved it here well worth a visit. Really enjoyed just sitting and soaking up the gardens, good vibes, very friendly people. We met and spoke to some amazing people here made some friends! We filled a bottle from the healing spring and dioped our feet into the healing pond. Nice shop as well had some jewelry and incense. Tickets allowed you to return same day. The walk to the Tor is right next doot as well.

Absolutely lovely! Beautiful well kept gardens attached to a majestic Holy well. There are many holy wells across the south west and this is one of the very lovely ones. It costs £5 as an adult to get in if you’re not a local, and whilst I was against this, I realised they do landscaping and purity tests on the water, which you can drink and bottle for free. It tastes like iron. Please be respectful and mindful of others here, so please be calm and quiet 🙂

Glastonbury and the Chalice Well was a real highlight of our UK tour. My partner's foot was arthritic and she was having trouble with the feeling of a rock in her joints. It came on a few days before our trip and we thought it would have a huge effect on the trip. After soaking her feet in the well, the foot pain was completely gone and didn't come back for the duration of the trip. It was a true healing event. Really amazing 🤩🙏

I have bought a second home to spend more time with in the wonderful community and the healing that comes from depending time at such a historic and unique site. I do find the parking to be very limiting as I am not very mobile but I haven’t got a badge. Also it would complete the experience for me if my dog was allowed in. Children are often louder and more disruptive than dogs. I love visiting tho and I always buy from the dedicated staff at the gift shop. Thank you for all you do to keep the challis running xxx

I was recommended by a friend to visit it. It is a beautiful garden with a £5 entry fee that is worth the visit. There are little retreats around the garden for you to meditate, feel the energy and vibrations from this mistic place. Many people enter the little water pools and are there in meditation. The little pools water e freezing, not sure why. It a very quiet place and you will feel energised once you leave it. Take the map and follow the route by numbers. I loved it. Dogs not allowed due to many people looking for a peaceful moment and silence is required.

This is a reasonably priced open garden that's grown up around an ancient well. The actual main well area is designated as a quiet space with "turn your mobile to plane mode" signs, which seemed a bit extreme! There are lots of grassed areas and flowers with butterflies flitting around in the garden. It's very popular so not particularly tranquil! Overall, it was a great place to relax on a hot day and paddle in icy well water. There are plenty of benches to sit on, plus clean public toilets and an expensive gift shop. Please note there are quite a few steps from well area to well area. You can fill your own water containers from the spring water area there or a few yards away outside at the well house. Sadly, there is minimal car parking at the site, and it's a 20-30 minute uphill walk from the town centre to get there. Overall, I enjoyed visiting.

Enjoyed a quick dip in the water and some quiet meditation, much needed after recent prolonged stay in hospital. Nice to see so many offerings and candles inside in addition to the work done outside during lockdown (?) Free to visit, though donations welcome and run by volunteers, so be kind about the opening times!🤲

The White Springs has a series of pools which you can bathe in, while soaking up the ambiance and atmosphere created many local artists. All around the venue has little grottoes for contemplation featuring statues and goddess themed artworks. The water comes from a natural spring which is safe for drinking, and is purported to have healing powers.

This natural spring water, site has three spring outlets at the front of site. It poured out free natural spring water, and many people fill up water bottles and containers here. Inside the scalp cave-like building is were the spring water accumulates into massive stone made pools. People are welcome to bath and meditate in these polls. This building is solely lit by hundreds of tea light and stick candles, both on ledges and up walls. A very tranquil and spiritual place, with very strict silence andß photography rules. The white springs is free admission with no time limit on your stay run by volunteers this venue is only open three days a week, however the three spring at front are always accessable. So happy they were open on Solstice. A magical experience, free to visit and bathe in the freezing water! After being up all night on the Tor, this was really curative. Felt so alive! Nudity is not mandatory but it is in keeping with the 'medieval water cult' vibes so definitely recommended!

Beautiful, sacred, peaceful place. A must for all to experience and appreciate. No photographs allowed as would disturb the sacred nature and atmosphere. You can bathe in the spring, some people did bring towels to bathe naked. If you want to do this, be mindful everybody could see you undress and enter the water, climbing across to reach the plunge section. Free entry, no queue needed. Was slightly affected by the sound of a car alarm going off outside, and the fountain outside had people sat in it smoking so you couldn’t truly admire it.

A wonderful experience. Visited with a friend and we plunged into the pools. I’ve never been in water that cold and it took my breath away. However the beauty and the most powerful healing and extraordinary feeling I felt made the water feel warm. I really didn't expect much from what, from the outside, seemed to be a large room on a first floor. However, as soon as I stepped in, my heart skipped a beat and I couldn't help but shedding a tear. I was overcome by the energy that emanates from the multiple lovingly arranged shrines - it is welcoming, cozy, peaceful and brings a feeling of nurturing safety, like a warm embrace. I felt a little out of place being a man but I visited as my wife wanted me near and so I obliged her. I've visited three times now and I have been accepted and made to feel welcome in this beautiful, spiritual place. But a word of warning: you are required to remove your shoes. At the conclusion of our last visit, as I put my shoes back on, my wife asked me to pay for a Goddess effigy, and as I approached the attendant Goddess devotee to pay for this item I was shooed away and escorted from the sacred area with great histrionic fervour which had the effect of breaking the spell with a crash and a thud. I felt foolish to say the least, and felt the reaction was akin to opening a nut with a lump hammer. If I had have entered a nearby church - there are many worth visiting in Glastonbury - with my hat on, I doubt the reaction would have been anything near as fervent. But I shouldn't let something like this put me off as this is a beautiful place to visit and in well worth your time if you are female or of a spiritual bent.

I specifically drive all the way from London to get here and to the shops below. If you are pagan or spiritual, you will love this temple. I spend between 20-60 mins just sitting there meditating. It’s very peaceful and the energy is very positive. If you ask one of the temple volunteers they will give you a sacred cleanse and blessings.

I adore coming here and the ladies that supervise the temple for visitors are so lovely and patient. They have seasonal displays which are absolutely beautiful and it’s such a relaxing space to spend as much time as you like in. Really do need to come here more now that we live closer. Also - if you are going to visit here, you remove your shoes at the door because it’s a sacred space. If you don’t like it, don’t visit. When I was there last time, someone got all uppity about why they should take their shoes off and ended up being told to leave. There’s a chair there so you can sit down to remove your shoes. If you plan ahead a little, perhaps wear shoes that can be taken off with ease when you get there. It’s not as easy for some people who are less mobile/able to bend down but they do provide a chair and try to make it as easy as possible for you, so please be respectful of that.

We arrived early enough to park easily, and enjoyed a leisurely stroll for 10 minutes down the easy-walking path, until the marshes opened up, at which point the aerial display started - even the smallest member of the party (3) was blown away by the murmuration beauty. Such a beautiful nature reserve with some stunning views of the meadows, especially if you go at certain times of the day with the sunset or sunrise. Paths are well maintained and the site is full of nature. Lots of great spots for nature photography and lots history. Car parks aren't free. Great place for cycling too as the main path runs along an old railway track. Definitely will come back, not far from Glastonbury if you're in the area.

My favourite place to go. I have only just started nature photography and living in Bristol i wanted to go somewhere within the surrounding area, this is like 40min drive. It has lovely long walks, the birds are all around, and now spring is here drying out the walkways, the hides are opening slowly. Stop and take in your surroundings, stop and sit at certain points, because most of the time you walk past the wildlife without realising its there. Car park is easy to get to, Finding it hard going to other reserves, as it just seems so good. Across the other side of it you another reserve a short walk away. If that all doesn't fit, its a quick drive to Greylakes or Westhey Moore reserve, this area is so underrated. Even saw the common cranes which made an appearance.

We've been to RSPB Ham Wall many times over the past 5 years. Our most recent visit was on a very warm Wednesday 22nd June, 2022. Always a fabulous day out. Toilet facilities available at the main car park and plenty of seating to enjoy a picnic. Members can park free of charge. Not sure how much it costs for non-members but full details are available on their website. There are many different walking/cycling routes to choose from and disabled visitors are also catered for. Staff/volunteers on site are always friendly and helpful, and there are information points to collect leaflets at the car park and info boards along the various routes. Whatever time of year you visit, there is always something to see. Whether you're visiting for the wildlife or the fabulous views of the Somerset countryside and Glastonbury Tor, I'm sure you'll enjoy your trip. As RSPB members, my husband and I are really happy to have RSPB Ham Wall as our nearest reserve to home.

If you are in to your wildlife this place is truly worth a visit. A walk around kilometres of paths through reed beds delivered views of Marsh harrier, egrets, Reed bunting etc. A short walk to the railway Inn for a pint and then back for the evening finale of a starling murmuration (winter only) with birds numbering into the 100s of 1000s. Perhaps one of the last great wildlife experiences of the UK.

Beautiful stunning place! This was our first visit but will certainly not be our last. We had a fantastic talk by an RSPB representative before entering the park. Then whilst walking around we were lucky enough to see deer, marsh harriers, egrets and even heard an otter. All of this and the car park is only £3. They have clean toilets and a great reception area where they grow their own plants from the marsh peat. Well worth a trip.

Wonderful chapel and gardens and a very nice atmosphere except for the lady who looks after the place. My friend was talking to someone and this lady told him to be quiet. Anyway, he carried on talking but in a more subdued tone. The lady came back a little while later and in a rather rude tone asked us to leave. She said in angry manner that it was a sacred and peaceful place. I thought, well, that may be so, but it certainly isn't a place where vows of silence should be enforced. She, that woman, needs to practice her being friendly and polite skills to visitors.

A secret little chapel, you could easily pass by without knowing it was there. But very Beautiful indeed, the atmosphere and feeling of peacefulness and tranquility is all around. Only one row of Alms houses remain. An awesome museum that is larger than it appears from the road. Spent an enjoyable morning reliving memories of a Somerset childhood. Will be back in the summer just to scrump (borrow, on a permanent basis) the Morgan Sweet as there's nothing to be beat the taste of these apples. Staff were friendly and helpful. Found an ideal Christmas present in the little gift shop. As for the entry fee £7.50 for a year is not expensive.(6/11/21)

Interesting place to visit ( especially when you've been soaked at the Tor from a downpour 😄 ). It's not massive & so a bit pricey compared to some similar places, but the ticket does entitle you to visit as many times as you like within a year of purchase. Great little cafe for tea, coffee, cakes and lite bites. It's within the museum but you don't have to pay / go around the museum to use the cafe. Very friendly staff. If you are climbing Glastonbury Tor I would recommend dropping in to buy bottled water or drinks from the museum cafe before you start....and when you come down the Tor you will be ready for a hot drink and something to eat.

I wasn't expecting much at 8.50 entrance (which gives entrance for a whole year), but it was a really well thought out museum covering history of traditional trades in the area. The museum is a fascinating and friendly place, my favourite is the 14th cent barn which is a thing of beauty. Showing the range of crafts need just to keep everyday society going is extraordinary. All the historic side of the museum was great. An art install also very interesting. The only downside is that cafe is pretty awful... Frozen pasty and sausage roll microwaved and dumped lonely, greasy and slumped on a plate was sad. Anther table asked for some form of salad dressing for her otherwise dry salad. "we've got salad cream"... Inadequate really. Esp compared with the quality at the sister Taunton where the food is excellent. Friendly though!

Excellent museum. Visited on a Sunday. For the size of the museum it packs in a lot. Very interesting farming exhibits intermingled with lots to do for kids. The day we went 2 beautiful shire horses were visiting. Staff were all very friendly and engaging and there were kids backpacks with activities for my daughter to do while looking round. Lots of dressing up for kids, a tractor to go on, a cow to milk by hand (not real one) the cafe did really nice food and drinks for our lunch. The Tithe Barn had an art exhibition in it and is a beautiful building. The old farmhouse has modern extensions that are very contemporary and a space for hire that has a lovely sliding glazed wall that opens out onto the courtyard.

This place was so much better than expected. Free parking in a large car park when visiting. Tickets are reasonable and after paying once you can return multiple times for a year. Lots of activities put on especially through the holidays and on weekends. There was a local sculptor in the barn who did rubber stamping and another activity. She was so lovely, really engaging with the children and very chatty and helpful. She complimented both children’s work and made them feel proud of their makes. All other staff were super friendly too. There is an orchard with sheep in and a gated picnic area. A small cafe with outdoor seating - unsure of prices or range as we used picnic area with benches, but it seemed very popular. Really interactive museum with dress up available too. We will definitely be returning.

First ever visit. Absolute amazing visit. The website gave a real wealth of information before traveling which was really informative about what was on, what the current exhibitions were and what we were able to see. As a person with a disability, sensitive to certain sound and noise sensitivity, I was able to ask questions and was told that some areas may have some rapid moving line art amination, apart from this the whole museum is very accessible. The museum have lots of information about this history of rural Somerset. The onsite cafe was very well stocked and reasonably priced. For those who may be sensitive to noise, crowds or busy areas it may become busy at half term or during the holidays so I would suggest avoid at this time. Well worth this visit and it's worth knowing, carers go for free. And a paid ticket gives a full free membership for a year.

I love old buildings. This particular building is very nice to look at. Here is some info for you: Glastonbury Tribunal is a fine, late 15th-century stone town house with an early Tudor façade and panelled interiors, once thought to have been the courtroom of Glastonbury Abbey. The Tribunal now houses a Tourist Information Centre and the Glastonbury Lake Village Museum, which contains dramatic finds from one of Europe’s most famous archaeological sites.

The exhibit upstairs shows a very interesting history line of the settlements and people that lived in area. Kitchen area was closed and I would have liked more information about the actual building itself. But worth a visit if in the town.

I tried to visit today all morning and despite the opening hours listed on the door the tribunal was not opened. I waited a whole week trying to go and earmarked Sunday morning and waited around for more than 2 hours and no one opened it up, with no sign of a change of hours on the door or website. I called the number listed and no one picked up. I know its run by volunteers but they should at least have the respect of traveler's time to inform them about what is going on.

Google said it closed at 4pm, English Heritage said it closed at 4pm. After a 45min drive, got there at 3pm and refused entry as it closed at 3.15. The person behind the counter would have been suited to work at MFI (was rebound for poor customer service her it w went bust). It is a long time since I met anyone as condescending and never before at an English Heritage site, everyone else has been excellent.

36 acres of land with a circular walk of a mile, 2 ponds and the Abbey is stunning? Quiet expensive entrance for a year for 2 people around £60 but there seems to be a lot going on and we will have access to those events too.

My first time visiting the Abbey and it was fantastic. Highly recommend a visit. Lots of history, a good visitor centre, beautiful grounds with an orchard, ponds , wildlife garden and the incredible Abbey ruins. Wheelchair access, plenty of loos and a cafe outdoors in summer.

Lovely little park, easy distance from the centre of Glastonbury and the Tor, with a great play area for kids (now fully open!) No loos, but they're only 5 minutes down the road. Perfect spot for a picnic under the trees.

Is a nice, fairly quiet, place to just hang about. Green and clean, good benches, playground for the kids. Squirrels, if you're not too loud. There's a few quiet places in Glastonbury, but this one is free and pretty central. Spent a good few hours just reading in the sun.

My grandparents have been coming to this church since they moved to Glastonbury and they absolutely loved it. My grandfather is now buried here and the process was easy and painless for his funeral. We couldn't be happier and my grandmother can visit him whenever he wants. Although near the centre of the small village (and on the main road to Glastonbury), the cemetary is quiet and peaceful.

What a fabulous find! Bought several books (OK, possibly half the shop!) when I was in Glastonbury earlier this month. A beautiful and inclusive church that feels welcoming, warm and a merit to the faith. Situated just off the main road, it has a little green around it and some very odd/funny faces in the stone work. Worth a little detour to experience

Went into their pop up cafe for the carnival yesterday. They were very warm and welcoming people my son said I must come on an give them 5 stars as they were so nice- beautiful homemade cakes. I can imagine anyone would be warmly welcomed at this church.

Stunning structure from the outside, couldn't get inside as it was closed. But it's a magnificent looking church. They do open the church for visiting on Saturdays and Mondays from 10am to noon (Saturday) & 2pm (Monday). It was originally dedicated to Saint Benignus. It's dated back to the fourteenth century and has six bells and five are from the thirteenth century according to the church's website. Worth visiting.

We visited St Benedict's for an Evening of music with the Incredible String bands Robin Williamson and Bina. We had a wonderful evening. The acoustics were excellent and the church itself is stunning and dates back further than the Norman period.
