Lovely day out, went on the last Saturday of half term, thought ticket prices were a little expensive for what's there. But enjoyed feeding lambs and seeing all the different sheep. Soft play was pretty good, limited table space though. There are rides available, but we didn't use them, so I'm unsure if they are an additional cost or not. We paid extra for a pumpkin (£2 - which was reasonable compared to other pumpkin picking places), and the pumpkin activity tent was nice. Its a shame my toddler was more interested in puddle jumping and leaf throwing rather than anything else there 🤦🏼‍♀️🙈. Gift shop has some quite reasonably priced products.

Really good day out for the family. We went with our 1 year old and they had a fab time getting up close and personal to the animals. Lots of wash stations around for when you have touched or fed the animals. We felt the park need a few more signs at the enterance area to know where everything is especially with a buggy. Staff friendly and entertaining in the shows. The jokes and banter just made the shows even better. Some parts could be more interactive for the younger children but they were short and sweet so you didn't get bored. Gutted the animal safari wasn't open today but apparently they are renovating that area, so it's good to hear they are improving things. On that note some areas need a new lick of paint. Cracking soft play area for kids and adults!! Lots of variation but beware adults that you don't get stuck in the under 3ft area. There aren't many exits and areas are low. Cafe had a range of drinks and cakes. Slightly overpriced good but super tasty hot chocolate.

More than just sheep! Great day out. With lots to see and do my grandchildren and me loved this place. The live shows were well ran by Zoe who was entertaining and informative . Lunch was very good Cornish pasties. The sheep racing was a real fun way to finish entertainment.

Lovely day out with the family. The kids absolutely loved it. We visited during our short stay in Devon. The sheep show was entertaining even for the adults.. the kids got to feed the lamb for a few seconds as there were so many children who wanted a go. The train ride which is around 5 mins long is good but the place is a little rundown which was evident on the train ride. Could do with a tidy up. No tractor rides when we visited in feb but the kids enjoyed the soft play indoors. Food ok priced. A bit expensive for what it is. My two month old had to pay £1 which I think it’s not fair as she was asleep in the carrier the whole time. Maybe start charging from 9 months onwards?

Was presently surprised by this place! - great value for money, and once in food, drink and even the shop are all reasonably priced! Staff are very helpful... your overwhelmed by sheep at the end of the day though! - dog kennels are provided! - we used them, although they're very basic, they certain do the job, and it's much better than leaving her in a tent/ caravan whilst on holiday! ...... more places should offer this service.

We went as had a voucher for a percentage off and I'm glad we did as I would have been disappointed paying full price. We walked straight in and then went where we thought the main stage was and where to go after following everyone else. We ended up in a new tots outdoor bit, which was really nice but a bit of a confusing place to find ourselves. It's not very clear where anything is and we thought we was possibly not still on site as we walked past the bottom of the roller coaster and the path was gravel and weeds etc. It's difficult to push the pram up there. We ended up asking a member of staff who was the only one we saw when we was up at the tot area and they mentioned the new maps are not very clear. But we had to go back to where we came through and go between the toilets. There is no signs anywhere to explain this and we stopped several groups of people venturing up to where was was to let them know. Once we got into the pain part of the park it was alright. In the main show area we fed the lambs and watched the ducks get guided by the sheepdog. Chris the staff member was fantastic for both and so was Jess the dog. It was rather quiet when we visited but can imagine it would be difficult to get on anything when it's busy season. The indoor soft play was good, but only a very small area for toddlers. We went on both the train and tractor ride..both not really worth it but the staff were pleasant for both. The train ride goes around the park and you see different nursery ryhme characters but they all need some TLC. The tractor ride you go off up to the fields and back down again but the only animals you really see are the pigs, some donkeys and goats. Feels like again you could do more. It's a shame as it could just do with some small improvements and I would probably go back, but I wouldn't bother unless I had a money of voucher again to be honest.

As always a lovely visit to The Big Sheep. We were lucky to see a sheep in lambing and see the farmers support a Ewe during birth and difficulties she was having during a tricky labour. So lucky to hold the 8 week old puppies, 3 day old chick's and a baby Goat. Lots to see and do and all included in the entry price. Reasonably priced gift shop and the brewery is interesting too. We have visited so many times and will always come back.

Great recommendation by one of the locals to visit the Big Sheep with the family. Awesome if your kids are below 12 years of age and our looking to learn about animals, enjoy the rides, play in the soft play area and have a great day. With 3 kids under 7 years of age, this was a fantastic outing. The sheep pen was fun watching all the different sheep types and their novelties. Followed by the ducks being hustled across gates and into their pond (fun tricks). Plenty of open space, with trampolines and free play outdoor area for the kids. The soft play was neat and clean too - good variety to keep the kids occupied. The Swan boating/paddling was fun too, a must do with the kids. There are some semi-adult rides with the large roller coaster and swings too. Finally the sheep racing was great fun and excitement. A great day out overall, will definitely recommend!!!

Lovely place for children and adults alike. Lots to do including feeding lambs. Sheep jockey racing. Tractor rides and train ride around site. Lots of sheep. Cows and ducks and llamas to look at inside a nice open barn. Plenty of places to eat.

A brilliant place to visit with a variety of things to do, from animal shows (ducks, sheep), fairground rides and rollercoaster, plenty of things to play on and see. A great soft play for the kids with some giant slides and ball pools etc. The much hyped sheep race at the end of the day is fun if over a bit quick. Overall a great day out with a lot to keep everyone in the family entertained.

Fabulous day out for nanny. mum and 3 grandkids. So much to do and see. Lots if wonderful rides. Animals. We all loved the sheep shearing and the interaction between the staff and guests was warming. Our grandson is so looking forward to next visit.

Fun family day out - plenty to do and see to keep the kids entertained (7 & 11). The eldest is probably close to being too old for most of the activities - worth bearing in mind if you are planning a visit. 4 stars because the indoor play area with the drop slides is the main attractions - there isn’t that many rides and it isn’t always obvious navigating your way round.

This is a great day out for younger children with the rollercoaster to add a little spice for the grown ups and older ones. Plenty to keep them busy all day long with excellent live animal shows, which were quite funny too. Plenty of picnic tables around the place, so easy if you want to bring your own food. For me the food offer could be better as I'm dairy free but I realise it's hard to cater for everyone's foibles and the decaf coffee was OK and oat milk too. We'll be back with the other set of grandchildren before too long. Great value.

We had a brilliant time at October half term. We pre-booked using Tesco vouchers and arrived for10am so no queue. The kids loved it all : the rides which they could all go on, the shows which were very entertaining, the indoor play area and the animals. We had six hours of great fun and it wasn't too busy - no queues and loads of well published things to do. A super day out for all the family :)

We visited The Big Sheep with our 4 year son whilst on holiday in the area for Easter. It was still term time in the area, so some of the attractions here were not open, but it was a toddler takeover day, and our son loved it! We were also really lucky to see a lot of baby animals in the barn and bottle feed a lamb. The staff were all friendly and the craft activities etc set up for the little ones were lovely. We had a lovely time as a family. The only downfall was that it closed early at 2pm. It's cheaper to book online, but you can pay when you get there.

Had a great time here with our toddler! The sheep show and duck race were very entertaining, plenty of activites to do to occupy for a good few hours, the farm animal petting area or soft play area with big slides (indoors), we're both great, we even saw some brand new lambs being born! various outdoor bits too! World famous? Not so sure about that, but it's definitely well worth a visit for an afternoon!

Great family day out 👍 plenty of parking. Arrived at opening time and no queues. The Duck Trails were very good indeed and very funny. Visited during half term and got to carve out our own Pumpkin for free ( book tickets online). If you're staying at Bideford Bay Parkdean wait to check in and they will give you a flyer for money, which is a bonus. The soft play area is good for Children and a nice area for adults to sit and have a coffee. Reasonable price for food and drinks. Plenty of activities for children (the tractor ride was great) and feeding the lambs was a highlight. Spent a good 5 hours here and could have stayed longer. Staff very friendly and chatty 🙂 Buy some food for the animals (it's only £2.00) and get to feed lots of different animals 🙂

We all Loved The Big Sheep!! We visited as a large group of 13 aged from 2 -70. There is loads to do here. A fantastic selection of farm animals to see and pet/feed, A rollercoaster, laser tag, swan boats, bounce bags, softplay, a family train ride and great animal shows throughout the day. The animal show make the day. Gives you something to plan your day around and they are great. There isa sheep show, teaching you about all the many types of sheep. There is a duck heading show and the main event is the sheep racing!! Even a small brewery and gin distillery!! Food is reasonable priced for a theme park. A great day out and would highly recommend visiting!!

Fab day out for our little one. She loved feeding the sheep and seeing all the animals. We also went on the tractor ride and it was so Soothing she fell asleep! The soft play is big enough that your not all on top of each other and there was plenty to do for the different age ranges. Great day out, reasonably priced with plenty of parking.

Lovely family day out, and the baby sensory room is just lovely. Food was inexpensive compared to other attractions. We got to see a sheep giving birth. Loved the animals, and the indoor play area makes it an all-weather attraction. Staff ate lovely and very knowledgeable.

Great dog friendly beach, great for walking, paddle boarding or sailing. Lots of great pubs to grab a bite to eat. See some amazing sunsets over the town of Appledore. Instow is a picturesque village situated on the estuary where the rivers Taw and Torridge meet. It commands panoramic views of the estuary, the sea and the surrounding countryside. The Instow Parish has around 800 households and a population of 660 in the 2021 census, of which an estimate of 580 live within the village, with a small number living in outlying farms and cottages. Developed in the early nineteenth century much of Instow has retained its character due to an enlightened policy of the Christie family who own Tapeley Park and a large part of the village. A major part of it is in a conservation area. Development of small groups of more modern housing has occurred in the last fifty years allowing a greater diversity of residents and many properties are second homes or holiday lets. For those who like to eat and drink Instow has many pubs, hotels and restaurants. From South to North, The Quay, The Commodore, Instow Arms, The Boathouse and the Wayfarer. There are also many Bed and Breakfasts and several homes are also Airbnb or available for short term letting. The village has a very well stocked deli shop (Johns) and Post Office on Marine Parade and a garage repair centre in Mollands yard near the Parish Hall. Situated between Barnstaple and Bideford it has all the advantages of village life but with excellent bus transport giving access to the facilities of large towns.

Great little beach there are ice cream shops around and bars around it's also close to bidiford but however because of dog walkers watch out for any leftover dog poo we found 2 within 10 minutes of being at the beach

Quietly tucked away behind the main road, this little gem is a pleasure to visit. Dog friendly (and cat friendly in my case) for an evening stroll on the sand. My cat loves exploring there and getting lots of attention from unsuspecting passers by. The beach is spacious and doesn't get crowded during off peak times. The water is not for swimming in (unsafe due to sewage works nearby) but the scenery is breathtaking and the sunsets are glorious there. Pay and display carpark of ample size on site as well as a few local eateries and pubs just a 5 minute walk away. Stunning natural beauty.

On a sunny October afternoon and with the tide being out, we had a fantastic walk along the beach with everyone else and their dogs. Having visited many of the UK’s beaches, Thai was one of the most popular ones I’d ever been on. So lovely to see being dog friendly and the community presence made it feel extremely safe for all. Lovely alternate view of Appledore. Top Tip: if you like the look of the Boathouse bar and restaurant, then book in advance. Very popular, especially when the sun is out.

It's a pleasant beach with the usual large pay and display car parking nearby. It's made a bit more interesting because of the view across the estuary. It's a good place to let your dogs run free and wild.

I love this beach. Its very much a dog beach. And its lovely to see all the dogs having so much fun.

Super friendly beach never too crowded....plenty of snacking dining options lining the long sea front. Locally run small supermarket/deli and shack selling beach goods at one end and oyster bar at the other. One hotel and four family friendly pubs.

Instow beach is a sandy, estuary beach which is easy to walk on. No swimming allowed. Dogs are allowed on the beach. Pay and park available.

Even if it's not recommended to enter the water it's still a nice dog friendly beach. Gorgeous sunsets over Appledore.

Instow Beach was beautiful. We took the dog for a walk along it in the evening. The tide was coming in slowly as the sun was setting. Plenty of people still out and about going for a walk with their dogs. It’s a very clean and tidy beach. Easily accessible and plenty of parking available along the road.

My children had a fantastic week of surfing lessons (5 days) with the surf school. They were really well looked after and all of the instructors were friendly and helpful and they can't wait to go back again next year. Each day the instructors tailored the teaching to the make up of the group and ensured everyone's safety even in some more tricky weather conditions. It was fantastic to see the children's progress over the days they were year and the expressions of joy on their faces. Overall a fabulous experience and one of the best things we did on holiday.

What an awesome Instructor you are Steve... My two children and Husband absolutely loved their lesson with you today. From the moment we arrived you looked after us, your friendly and welcoming manner, plus the jokes 😉 made it an amazing experience for my family. Keep smiling Steve you are one of life's treasures. The North Devon Surf School is based in Westward Ho! right next to the vast expanse of water, that is the Atlantic Ocean. We found the booking process extremely easy. We called in to see if there were any spaces available for one of the next day’s sessions, which luckily for us, there were! As well as booking in person, you can also book online, which is a simple and user-friendly process. When we arrived on the day, we found there was ample parking which was about 10 metres walk away from the main building itself. We had a lovely warm welcome and then were informed about what was going to happen during our two-hour session. We were then taken into the main building which was very clean and modern. There were ample changing rooms with enough space to get into the wetsuits that were provided, which were clean and dry. As an added bonus, we were given large tubs to place our clothes and valuables in which were safely locked away whilst we were enjoying our time in the sea. We were then taken outside and matched with the correct sizesurfboards for our height, these were of very good quality. Neoprene gloves and boots were also provided to ensure our hands and feet remained warm. We made our way to the beach and as the tide was out, had a fair walk to the sea. Prior to entering the sea, we were taught the basics of how to paddle for a wave, how to get up on the board and how to then ride the wave into the shore. After a quick safety briefing, we all got straight into the sea excited to get surfing. Our instructor Stu was very friendly and helpful as well as consistently making sure that we were all making progress and having a good time. He was very supportive and when you caught a wave, he ensured you felt like you’d made a real achievement. At the end of our time in the sea, everyone was paired up to help each other carry our boards across the beach and back to the surf school, which was extremely helpful after a tiring surfing session! When we arrived back at the surf school we got changed out of our wetsuits and into our dry clothes. As we had enjoyed the session so much, we went straight on to reserve a spot for another day. However, on the morning we were due to go, this had to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. I would strongly recommend booking a surf lesson at North Devon Surf School as it was a fantastic experience, we came away with a real sense of achievement. The people are really welcoming, the timings are well thought out to maximise your time in the water. It was such a great way to spend a day on holiday and we will definitely be making a return visit.

Visited yesterday with 2 friends for the first time. Booking was super easy and quick, emails responded to in great time. Facilities clean and good, great cafe attached. This was my third lesson and I honestly think Jamie is the best instructor I have ever had. He really gave some great advice and no question was too much (I had hundreds!) He was friendly and informative and a great credit to the team. I will definitely use this school again in future! Thankyou!

Really great group of instructors. I went back last week after a brilliant lesson last time we were in Westward Ho! The session was just as brilliant with Tommy this time, and we had a great time. He was so friendly and welcoming and gave us some great tips. Went back to rent boards the next day. Super chilled, showers afterwards and parking really close. Great learner waves on that beach. I've wanted to surf for over 20 years, but never felt fit enough and also live in the landlocked Midlands! I turned 40 in August, so my sister agreed to have a lesson with me on holiday. Steve was an incredible instructor, and we were lucky enough to have him all to himself. We were both really nervous, but they made us feel so comfortable (including the other guy at the school whose name I've forgotten). We were buzzing afterwards and now both have the surfing bug, thank you! 🌊😍

We have just had a lesson with Steve (2 adults 2 children) I cannot recommend this surf school enough. Steve was an excellent instructor. He put everyone at ease and made time to going around everyone individually helping them learn to surf.

Wow!!!! Just had the Best morning surfing with North Devon Surf School - instructors Steve and Tommy Brilliant- instructions very clear, great tips, massively enthusiastic and encouraging, patient with safety always paramount. Equipment all lovely and new too!! Last week I had a lesson with Stu and Jamie and they were Fantastic too. Experience so Brilliant my daughter has enrolled for surf lessons too. A visit to North Devon Surf School is Highly Recommended and an absolute must for visitors and locals to WWH!

We had a great time here, Tommy was a really helpful instructor who gave great advice and was really eager to get everyone standing up and doing their best. We were in safe hands an everyone at the school was really welcoming and kind - we will definitely be back

My daughter and I had our first, definitely not last, surf lesson today. Tommy, our instructor, was incredibly welcoming and because of the small group size, was able to offer really great advice and tuition. A great morning learning something new, and most importantly, having lots of fun!!

My 2 children (10 & 8) had the most amazing experience learning to surf. Instructors were kind and caring, taking the time to get to know the children. Both children were able to stand on their board and ride waves after the 2 hour session, which was hugely impressive. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back next year.

We had a brilliant lesson at the surf school. Stu was really great to shuffle around his existing bookings and fit us in with under 24 hours notice. Everyone was very welcoming. Our instructor was really knowledgable and great at giving pointers which enabled us both to make some great progress in our lesson. Would really recommend!

Nice selection of shops however not much for children (apart from the softplay) or young people. Clean bathrooms

Admittedly, I only went into Asda whilst grabbing a few things for a picnic when on holiday. But still, I've never been in an Asda that had such a fantastic selection of items, obviously the selection of food and drink was good but the other departments are what wowed me the most, the clothing department catered to everyone equally (unlike the Asda's near me who have huge sections for women and girls but a minuet selection for men and boys) I hadn't intended on shopping for clothing but i came away with several items for my son and I. The health, electronic, and toy departments were also very good and too catered for everyone of everyone age.

Good selection of shops, always visit on my annual September holiday, and always end up buying something. The car park would be an ideal location for some EV chargers. North Devon is a charging desert.

Usually come here once a year, I really like it, its never too busy. Lots of shops but I fo miss the cadbury shop

There have been some bad reviews?? Well, my opinion is really positive, i.e. "Affinity" offers an enjoyable, all round, shopping-cum-eating experience. An eclectic mix of shops - something for everyone - and a lovely, little plaza, to enjoy drinks & snacks with 2 x cafes. There are LONG & short stay car parks, plus a provision for both assistance inside and other dogs in the plaza, outside, it is a great place to visit, all year round.

Excellent compact shopping centre with other retail and supermarkets very near by. Everything you need is here. Good parking. Visited on a Monday. Not too busy. We’ll worth visiting for some retail therapy.

You are able to take your dog here and in most of the shops. After alll most dogs are better behaved than most humans. Graet center with plenty of choice

A nice and easy to get to outlet mall. Plenty of parking and space around. Very quiet on our visit, not sure if it's always like this. Plenty of brand name clothing stores if that's your thing. If like me you live in the same things all the time, you might not find much to interest you. There is a Works ,which is good 👍

Fantastic little gem , came from Birmingham and made a point of coming back here. Pastries outstanding left you wanting more , fruit scone melted in your mouth.Served by the lovely Nathan, and Dani who gave us loads of local info, well worth a visit if your in the area .Thank you guys keep up the great work

Car parking signs on entry, long stay to the right, free parking Lots of great shops to browse. Toilets are clean and there's places to eat and drink. Enjoyed spending a miserable drizzly morning here.

It would be unfair to say I disliked this, just that we were disappointed in it. Less like outlet shopping, more like a small out of town shopping centre with an unexciting selection. Shout out to the Pro Cook shop though, they were great, nice selection, helpful staff. We were put off from eating in the Cornish Bakery, due to the poor selection and it being full of flies.

Definitely not what I thought it was going to be. When you think of an outlet centre, you think of a large shopping area with lots of different "outlet" shops... I arrived to find only a few shops, hoping that it would kill a few hours, only for it to be hardly worth the visit Clarks and sketchers were the only shops that was of any interest. Thankfully the soft play was there, otherwise it would have been a waste of a 50 minute drive. Not many stores inside, But bright and airy and on site parking for free.

Very dog friendly...such a change from so many retail outlets. And every member of staff in all the different shops we visited were keen to engage with our two well behaved dogs. Good range of shops. Free parking.

It was clean bright and airy. Reasonable selections of shops. Shopping is a relaxing sociable experience I do wish they would turn the centre music down or better still OFF

Its ok, I liked the salt rock and skechers shop, but I wouldn't call it an outlet, I went in the works and bought things that were the same price on any high street. The toilets are disappointing with 3 out 10 out of order, and you have to go outside to get to them. Its 2 hours free parking and there's an asda so its not all bad.

Frankly, a bit grim overall. Vacuus shops selling not so cheap goods. One or two exceptions, Saltrock being one them. Children's area at one end looks desolate. Bring a cafe into the main walk, may help. You can see why people use the net to shop.

Affinity is the new name of thus shopping centre. It used to be known as Atlantic Village. Not much has changed to be honest except the retailers inside. The play area is still there plenty of parking. Can get extremely busy with people at times of the year. Easy to get too.

Small but dog friendly and the perfect size for an afternoon wander. Staff in each shop were very friendly and it was relaxed. Nice that the dogs could join us.

As recommended by others we didn’t buy the tickets for the house, just for the area and gardens. We enjoyed the easy walk to the beach (we skipped the climb to the summerhouse and upwards). At the beach we relaxed and absorbed the beauty of the coastline. After the walk back to the house we took some drinks and walked to the walled gardens. Many beautiful flowers and plants are kept there and we enjoyed it. We walked backed via the ‘Lady’s walk’ (not sure that was the exact name of the path), it was a wonderful walk back to the house. Less than 600 yards). We took a glance at the exhibition which was okay. The duration of the visit was approximately 4 hours, and we enjoyed it so, we were surprised that it was already that late. So, make sure to take the time for your visit and mind that it’s closed on Fridays and Saturdays.

Enjoyed a lovely day out to Hartland Abbey. The gardens and grounds are well maintained and very relaxing. The house itself is interesting with some beautiful rooms, and the volunteer room guides were all friendly and knowledgeable. The tearoom was excellent and offers light snacks or drinks to full lunches, cakes and afternoon teas. Unfortunately Hartland Abbey don't allow photos to be taken of the interior rooms (even with flash turned off), therefore I cannot award 5 stars, as I firmly believe if you are required to pay to enter, then you should not be restricted in taking photos of your visit.

Lovely grounds for a walk and great guides in the house providing a the background and story of the house. Small exhibition with details of the many tv programmes and films where the abbey had been used as a location. The tea shop was really welcoming and helpful, accommodating our two year old. Great cream tea with gluten free scones.

Excellent visit. Walled garden and Bog Garden amazing. Cafe first rate with a really good selection of snacks and freshly made cakes. Take the stunning walk down to the beach. The house is well worth the visit as well with many interesting displays

Spent nearly all day on the grounds despite the heat, walked up to the beach, around the walled gardens which are fabulous. Stopped for homemade cake and coffee at the café. Didn't go in the Abbey as we have a dog but did go into the little exhibition one by one downstairs, who knew how many movies made use of the grounds and buildings.

Hartland Abbey Gardens open today for bluebell day. Walked from the house, down through the bluebell woods, to Eye Cove then back via the gazebo & summer house. Tea rooms excellent value, wonderful homemade food. Worth paying to see inside the house. So much to see, didn't have time to see the walled gardens, will return another day.

Beautiful scenery and amazing grounds. Abbey is looks a little tired in some places. However some amazing furniture, art and decor. A great day out for scenery and walking!

We had a wonderful time exploring Harland Abbey. The family particularly were keen to see the filming locations, but fun was had by all learning about the family history, viewing the gardens and grounds, topped off by wonderful coffee and cake in the tea rooms. Lots to do despite the rain!

Beautiful place to visit. Walked the mile to the coast, with stunning views along the way. Been twice in the same week. Tea room has lovely scones.

Lovely visit in August 23. Only paid for the gardens as we had our dog with us. The tearoom is an absolute delight with a superb choice of cakes and savouries. We loved the exhibition highlighting all the movies and TV programs that have been filmed on and around the estate. The walk down to the beach is a definite must do. The cliffs are spectacular with their amazing geological twists and turns. Would love to come back and spend some time in Blackpool Mill cottage which can be rented out.

Came back in August because our girls are mildly obsessed with Mallory Towers and we wanted an easily happy day out whilst on holiday. We all loved it, because it's not your everyday stately home, it's a home that happens to be stately, lived in, loved, and welcoming, a family day somewhere that reminded me of tales from parents of how houses were opened up by their families back in pre National Trust curation, room guides and branded gift shops (we like those too but there's room for everything). The gardens and grounds were lovely, the walled garden is a gem as is Lady Stucley who I think became the highlight for the girls, the walk to the beach through the woods mercifully cool and shady. O, and the sandwiches were spot on in the tearooms.

Really enjoyed visiting here. Lovely house and gardens and you can walk down to the beach as well. Would recommend going here if you are in the area

Amazing place! One of my favorite abbeys I’ve been to. You feel as if you’re the owner there walking around the halls. The staff that are there in each rooms are super friendly and great to talk to. The garden and the coast are a must see if you come. The coast is a bit of a walk, but it’s worth it!

Certainly not as grand as some of the other large country houses but this house is still lived in by the owners, volunteer guides were very friendly and polite. The walled garden was tranquil and a lovely place to visit, anyone with walking difficulties would do best to ignore the direction signs and just follow the road (taking care of the oncoming traffic) following the signs the paths are uneven and have a number of steep steps, toilets were in need of some refurbishment.

Nice place to visit, the gardens are great. And the views from the monument are stunning, you can see right across the estuary. The tea room is nice with a great selection of cakes. Proper tea as well, not tea bags.

Reading some reviews I am just a little puzzled. I have had a wonderful day and can assure anyone that this attraction really is worth a visit. I’m disabled and the experience was just fantastic. Staff were so helpful and kind and the gardens just awash with beautiful spring colours. It’s a credit to the gardeners and was a real treat. Don’t forget to visit the tea rooms really special cakes and soups and just the best coffee.

The house makes a stunning backdrop for the beautiful gardens. Such a joy to wander around this hidden gem on a warm summer's day. The entrance fee includes a guide book which is unheard of these days! The tea room was delightful and we were lucky to have arrived there just as a fresh batch of scones had come out of the oven! Staff were very friendly - would highly recommend at this time of the year.

Last minute decision to spend the afternoon at Tapeley Park being only 5 minutes away. Beautiful weather to enjoy the walks, sit and have a cuppa at the tea rooms. (Unfortunately storm Eunice had the lakes closed off). Big thank you to Hector (for the private tour) and all the lovely staff. Well worth the visit, now awaiting invitation for masked ball. :)

Very pretty gardens, extremely friendly staff, loved the walled produce garden, so well done with loads of produce, really impressive. Cafe was lovely, all homemade produce, very tasty. Had a nice walk to the monument which had lovely views.

Nice visit but be warned the house isn't open to the public, though I think that's the norm. We just assumed it was house and gardens. The gardens were really nice though and the walks and views were exquisite.

Amazing beautiful Italian gardens with century's of history to explore. Exquisite Permiculture , Glass House and Kitchen gardens. The Lake full of ancient Trees and Dragonflies. Also visit The Tapeley tea rooms for lunch, cakes and coffee. You can purchase a season ticket to revisit between March til Oct. Closed Fri/Saturdays for Weddings.

Garden's lovely, Tea room give a miss the gentleman seemed very flustered the cream tea was the worst I've every experienced and the milk was off in our tea and coffees. Needs more work in there maybe employ someone who can bake and run an establishment like that.

First visit but will definitely return. The gardens are stunning, beautifully laid out. We loved all the little paths, finding 'secret' areas. Really tranquil place. All the staff were lovely and the tea room is a gem.

A great place full of military vehicles, tanks, guns & much more. Only £9 to get in. A bit out in the wilds, how they got some of those tanks there I will never now.

In need of a something to do during a rainy half term we decided to head over to the Cobbaton Combat Collection to have a mooch about. The Collection is full of interesting items that you can get up close and personal with, which makes it a more tactile experience and less like a boring museum. My teenager loved learning about the age and use of the various machines and loved to see all the other combat gear like the guns and swords. There was an element of education in the WWII part and also some really interesting stuff to buy in the shop. I really wanted to buy myself an ammunition box but couldn't think of a use for it. My son wanted to buy a Bren gun magazine......

Quietly tucked away, private collection of military vehicles open to the public during school holidays. On site carpark, gift shop, snack and toliets

A good insight into the machinery and mechanics of WW2. I visited with my young nephews and my daughters. The boys were bowled away and the girls also enjoyed it. Lots of vehicles from armoured cars, tanks and trucks but also push bikes and even a collapsible motor bike in a canister for air drops. They are all packed in quite tight but it does mean you can get right up close. You do realise that the vehicle crews were probably bruised every day working inside such tight metal confines. There is also lots of memorabilia and lots of weapons and well as a lot of information notices that gave extra details. There are a few light and sound exhibits like the Anderson shelter and some video display screens showing various films and photos montages. In all it was a good morning out and you do feel that by visiting you are helping to preserve these amazing pieces of history.

Very interesting place to visit, a vast array of army tanks and militaria from past wars.

Decent and interesting collection although could be better documented. The price is exobitant for the experience; we covered the entire collection in about an hour. And there is nothing additional in the price; you pay and you walk around looking at stuff. Maybe of interest to war memorabilia buffs but more most people there are probably better attractions for a fraction of the price. I'd recommend they heavily drop their prices, or, at the very least, publish them somewhere so that you know what the cost is before you drive out into the middle of nowhere.

A little hidden gem! We went for something to do in the later afternoon & were pleasantly surprised. As history enthusiasts we thought the collection was fantastic with so much to see! There is enough information without it being too much to read! Toilets & food available 👍 Will visit again!

Excellent and eccentric collection from military toothbrushes to main battle tanks crammed into every available space. Several hours required to appreciate it all. Snacks and drinks available, and a wide range of militaria for sale to take home.

Really surprised me how many army vehicles they had, my 6 Yr old son loved looking into them and seeing the different shells in the floor. The place looked, smelt and felt old which is exactly how a historical collection should be, much more realistic than a tank in a museum on a polished floor. Pictures are just a few of the vehicles there.

This collection of war memorabilia is amazing, my husband and I took our three boys aged 5,9 and 16. They all loved it and so did we. They have items for sale, bullets, hats, ect... all at reasonable prices and they also have snacks and drinks. Would definitely recommend a visit, it's great!

Moved to North Devon almost 2 years ago and Northam/Appledore burrows is one of my family's favorite places to be! Beautiful open spaces, wildlife walking around, surrounded by pebble ridges and beautiful beaches. Never too busy even in season. Best place to spend some hours

Great country park just North of Westward Ho! Free parking and also close to the beach (just got to tackle the large pebble barrier thing!) The country park also has a visitor centre in case you need to refresh, lots of options in terms of directions to walk off - just be careful of the golf balls!!

Great place for a walk with views of Westward Ho, Northam and Appledore. Nice walks on the burrows, golf course and along the beach. The visitor centre has a cafeteria. Free parking in winter.

This place reminds me of the privilege I have of living here. Stunning views of land sea and air. Parking is plentiful, but if you park on Sandy Mere (the large sandy carpark) near the visitors centre be mindful that its a seasonal pool, so can be very soft and hard to navigate in a car. We have a season pass which costs around £65 in 2022, I think. Daily access is £2.50 with no time limit, much cheaper than paying to park in the main village. At the Westward Ho! Seafront end there is a raised walkway to get you to and from the park with dry feet. Dogs are welcome all year hut must be under control due to livestock grazing, oh, and beware the golfers!

absolutely gorgeous clean, quiet beach with crystal clear water. Very peaceful for a bank holiday Sunday ,and a real hidden gem. If you have mobility issues park near the car park attendant and access via the boardwalk. This is to the left of the attendant,so hut. Only £6.00 for the whole day. After 3 hours there I felt like I had a 2 week holiday!!!!! check tidal times before you visit as the sand is best at low tide. the sea comes right up to the stone cliff at high tide.

Such a magical place to walk and enjoy Devon at its best. Be sure to check the tide, as its best when it's going out. Be careful to keep an eye out as it returns 😃

Stunning beauty! Free to park, easy access to beautiful walls and the beach was very quiet (April Easter). We wandered across the stones onto the sandy beach where we could let the dogs run free. The 4 year old and puppy both loved it in equal measure.

This was a lovely visit, we got coffee from the cafe and went and sat on a bench overlooking the golf course and beach. The views were amazing.

Gorgeous views. With plenty of animals. Sheep, horses, bats, butterflies etc. There are is so much to see and so many species to look out for. Lovely long walk and even nicer on a late afternoon.

French cafe with a light atmosphere offering breakfasts, lunch & afternoon tea including Crepes de froment.

Really good local art gallery with one of the best cafés I've been too in a long time. French Galetes are a speciality. Friendly staff, great food and great art - what's not to like. Highly recommend.

Very clean and tidy free Museum and Information centre. There are toilets, coffee shop and art/craft gallery on site. The exhibits are brilliant and well worth the time looking at them. Staff are helpful and friendly to speak to you about Bideford in general. The outside surrounding park is also well looked after again with an outside toilet

Always a fantastic place to visit. Exhibitions and artists change on a regular basis so if you visited every two months something different would be showing. Local schools and artists were exhibiting and the standards were first rate. National and International artists regularly hold solo Exhibitions here that you would normally travel to London to view. The gallery staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful and always with a smile. The shop is well stocked with a great selection of cards, books, toys etc that make it a go to place for something different. A wonderful craft gallery of ceramics, jewellery, fabrics and furniture lead to the very best café in Bideford, book a table so not to be disappointed, you won't regret it. Spend time, a lot of time enjoying the museum, art exhibitions, shop and craft gallery, and café. You may end up a few £ lighter and a few lb heavier but the experience is priceless. The jewel in Bidefords' Crown, enjoy.

Excellent exhibition of really talented local artists on when we visited. Had a late lunch there in seats overlooking the park, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Recommended

An amazing space with lots going on. Always an impressive art exhibition with works from world renowned artists. A great little local museum, a shop with gifts and items from local crafters and artists and a very popular little café. Easy to lose an hour or two here at this wonderful community hub.

Lovely museum. Best part is that they feature local artists. Very good restaurant at back overlooks garden areas. Very good displays especially a replica "Old Bridge" upstairs.

Lovely free museum and art gallery in Bideford. Worth spending an hour or two or even longer here looking and gazing at all the various history of the local area and some very high quality arts and crafts. Cafe on site and bicycle parking available. Handy as just off the Tarka trail nearby. I loved the Bellhouse sound sculpture. Just a stones throw away from the town centre and river.

Oh dear. Poor tired old Bideford - superficially it looks quite nice but in reality it's very dreary with very little going for it. The stone bridge is an impressive structure and I wasn't aware of the Tarka the Otter connection but the town seemed dead and all the shops in the Pannier were shut at 4.30pm.

Walked in on a Saturday 20th, been advertised of a market. I walked into the market and was only like 10 stalls! I was expecting more than that. Heard good things about the market but it disappointed me

Lots of lovely crafts at very reasonable prices. Also a grocery stall with fresh pasties and ice cream. There was a tea room area and a play area for children..it was quiet but it was the Jubilee weekend.

I went to Bideford last Saturday to go to the pannier market. I was so disappointed that it was not open. I was then told that it wouldn't be open for a while!! 😔 I then decided to see what the shops had to offer and was shocked further by the fact that they consisted of charity shops, dog groomers and Turkish barber's. What happened to our lovely little historic towns??. Anyway, I absolutely love charity shops and bagged a couple of bargains. 😊 So all was not lost. I think it will be a lovely place to visit in the summer 🌞 x

Lots of different small shops downstairs with unusual gifts and crafts. On a Tuesday not a lot of sellers standing upstairs but some nice artwork from a local artist and some brilliant hand made cards. Well worth a visit.

Many fascinating stalls, excellent cafes, and many art and craft speciality studios. I have had many delicious lunches at Frasier's cafe in the arcade, I recommend it.

The market is only used on Saturdays when there are Craft Fairs on, so sadly no Traditional Makets at the moment. You can get a coffee and something to eat in the market area and in Butchers Row, which is worth a visit. There are lovely clean toilets in the market. I'm afraid access is limited as at the top of town, but has large entrance for wheelchairs.Tuesday markets are resuming occasionally,look on their Website for more information.

We went to a 'festival' in there so the normal market stalls were absent. It is a quaint place to visit and there's a small café if anyone wants a bite to eat 🍽 or a cuppa 🫖

We had an excellent lunch there. Outside looking over the beautiful golf course and the coastline beyond. Highly recommend, plus a varied menu.

Can't rate Josh highly enough. He is sensitive to the golfer in front of him, adapting his advice and comments to the swing he sees. Backing any comments up with data that is equally as sensitive - a great combo. Josh doesn't try & overhaul a swing and make you feel lost, rather he provides careful direction as to how to become more repeatable. My HCP is around 7 now and we instantly added 8/9 yards on my 7 iron, whilst erasing one side of the course (see pics). Josh uses various bit of equipment/tech to analyse & feedback on your game from tee to green. I'd highly encourage anyone who uncertain to just give Josh a go, with one lesson - you won't regret it & your golf with thank you if it could!

At points wide open. The rushes and bushes are what will swallow your ball. The thing that makes this course tricky will always be fighting the wind and judging yardage. Greens true and well paced. Starter was helpful. Clubhouse like a museum of history

Must visit, RND is the oldest golf club in England and has excellent facilities and practice areas. You get to share the course with ponies roaming close by and at the end of the round enjoy some lovely food from the restaurant whilst looking out across the horizon. Wonderful staff, help you enjoy the experience of this treasured gem.

At a private function...awsome place.. friendly and helpful staff,the food was superb,the bar was also excellent!I totally recommend it..

Very friendly place which still retains much of its Old world charm whilst moving into the modern times,. especially the standard and quality of the Restaurant and Social side of Golf Club Life. As far as my friends and I are concerned, It is the place to go.

Went for a lunch time meal, waited a while before before staff told us which was our table. Lovely meal, but empty plates were left a long time before clearing, they were busy and some young staff. Lovely view over Golf course and beyond, but basically furnished Restaurant. Men's toilet is through men's changing room. Ample parking on site. Nice meal but won't be going again.

We followed our kiwi daughter around the course. A well designed links course, with shared sheep access rights, while she enjoyed tips from local club members on each approach.

The views are stunning, made to feel welcome by the lady serving teas and cakes, but the cost of playing 18 holes is far to expensive. The fairways are covered in sheep and horse muck. For the £90 per person paid I expected better quality greens. I’ve played many better links courses for a lot cheaper green fees.

Excellent, I really enjoyed this and so much to do. We took a bat and ball, had a picnic, and visited the museum that is free to visit. So, it was a great free day out. The park is great and lots for the children to explore.

You will find something for everybody. Flowers, playgrounds, pool, sand you name it!

Great park for a walk. But we went on all the parks with my granddaughter. She had lots of fun, plenty to play and climb on. Best playground I have been to .

Such a beautiful park. I visited for the first time on Friday and the autumn colours are especially pretty at the moment. I loved the tulip tree and large oak tree ( grown from an acorn by school youngsters in 1905). The war memorial was also lovely. Well worth a visit though there is one area which needs drainage work done otherwise an immaculate and gorgeous pleasure garden.

One of the finest parks I have seen in UK. Spacious, fantastic place to walk close to the beautiful River Torridge, got plenty of space for parking. Long stay car park next to the park has excellent parking rates if you want to stay here for long. Park has awesome rides for kids, lots of area to play in the sand. To top it off, they have got a really nice gym in the park as well for fitness!! Bravo!!

Fantastic park, extremely well kept and perfect for children and adults alike! Has a shallow outdoor pool for the kids which is again well kept and a safe area for the children to play, inflatables optional ;) there are lots of trees to retreat from the sun and lots of well kept flower beds if that's your thing. Usually find a hockings ice cream van here and sometimes other food vendors. Large park with a museum/gallery/cafe/shop.

A clean well managed park with some real features that are quite unique, such as, summer paddling pool, sand pit, extensive play areas from toddler to adult, extensive sports areas, football/rugby fields, ice cream van, cafes (two plus nearby boat cafe on harbour), off-lead dog walking area + dogs allowed on lead in all areas. How much do you want from a local council run park?

Nice park but looking a bit scruffy and dated, and the kids play area needs fixing and updating.

We always come here when we need beach bits at Westward Ho, several years running. We've got wetsuits for us and the children, spades, buckets, etc. Always friendly and helpful.

Brillant place true to the name it is what i expected. Looking forward to coming back next time i m in Westwood ho I brought a lovely board at a reasonable price . Staff were amazing saved the board for me until i could get it i also asked for pics before purchase and they was very helpful and police i wish i could give you guys more stars you guys are amazing hoping to pick up more boards when i am next down :)

Awesome little shop with loads of beach essentials crammed in, as well as loads of lovely little gifts and toys etc. So far this trip (and believe me, we've been coming here for YEARS), we've popped into this little 'Aladdin's Cave of treats' every day... sometimes 2 or 3 times... and the lovely couple that run it are always SO nice. Our 5 year old (Elliot) now feels the need to pop in and say hi whenever we're passing, and thank them again for being so kind to him (he's a VERY fussy shopper!). He was even drumming up trade for them in the cafe next door this morning, by telling some random strangers about how great the gift shop next door is!! So if you do pop in... tell them Elliot sent you!!

Wonderful traditional seaside shop. Selling lovely gifts, beach items and much more..all very reasonably priced. Staff are lovely - very chatty and friendly. Love this shop

This shop is fantastic for the kids. We spent quite a bit of money in here, on beach stuff; shoes, boats, covers, tents, buckets, spades etc. The guy who runs the shop it is really friendly and chatty. We saw him occasionally around the harbour after the shop had closed he always spoke and said hi. There was one occasion where my daughter had dropped her lolly on the ground - he was just pottering around outside getting some fresh air and he saw her crying. He heard her say that she'd dropped her lolly and he immediately came across and said come with me and I'll get her another one. Now I know this isn't a lot of money, probably 30p, but it was the gesture and the attention. He shouted to a guy in the shop and got her another lollipop. Like I say, it was the gesture that stood out and showed the great service and brilliant customer care. They are very reasonably priced and only a stones throw away from the beach. Excellent shop. Excellent service!

Come to these every summer, as a local my son's love them, but it seems they are getting worst as the years go by, price I understand, but the service is terrible.

The adventure golf is great fun and not as pricey as some others in the area. Looks easy but there are some challenging holes as you go round. Took three of us just under an hour to complete

Nice for children and older adults. Go carts and Crazy golf. Plus local ice cream outlet. Nice drinks cabin good coffee nice selection of hot and cold drinks including slush. Crepes and waffles on offer. Very nice fish and chip cabin and burger cabin. All family run.

The guys that ran it were brilliant, very helpful, gave us plenty of time to get my disabled brother in, all smiles nothing seemed too much trouble, highly recommend going.

Did crazy golf and Go Karting, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Great fun! Lots of eating establishments nearby and good parking. Right by the seafront.

Go Kart staff member was a prick, took the piss out of my daughter as she could not get the hang of the kart, she’s only 12. Made her feel very small in front of a group of and ruined her day. Thanks pal, hope you grow up one day!

Recently purchased a brand new surfboard from Kitemare. All the staff are awesome. Pete, Fran, Rob and Guy (among others) were always happy to help, answering my stupid questions and giving me all the advice I needed.. ever! They all helped to talk me through all the aspects of the board, composition, size, shape, style and explained brilliantly the pros and cons of everything. I didn't feel rushed or pushed at all and they allowed me all the time I needed to make a decision as it was a fairly big purchase to me. Incredibly happy with my new Torq Fish and the bundle they put together for me was incredibly competitively priced and the experience of shopping with this guy's was nothing short of awesome. I love the shop they've got a great selection of boards, wetsuits, clothing, changing robes, surf kites, accessories and equipment hire all at great prices. Highly recommend as I already do to all my friends. Couldn't rate them any higher.

Surf shop with lots of varied stock located at the beach front. Great staff who are happy to help and give sound advice. Popped in just to browse but ended up buying a dry robe and sola robe. Really pleased with the prices as they were competitive. The staff didn't have a till that printed receipts but happily wrote us one on request. Top marks for the guys who work here, we will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

My friends and I rented surfboards from here every day of our holiday and had a great experience. The boards were good quality (and fairly reasonably priced --- especially compared to the other local places) and the staff were chatty and very helpful (keeping our things safe whilst we did in the water and giving us helpful info about the beach and the town). I'll definitely be back if I'm in Westward Ho again!

They taught me how to surf and now I love it I got my board from them and couldn’t be wear I am without them. The guy who works in the shop is really friendly as they all are. Great shop and amazing surf coaching for more advanced surfers.

Lovely staff and amazing products. I purchased a wetsuit from here a few months back. The owner was so helpful and I'm so happy with my wetsuit. The prices are great and I will definitely be going back. It is decorated very nicely too!

Why you should avoid kitemare shop. Warning long post. I had the worst possible experience with them. I sent 3 kites to Peter to be repaired. They had a couple of short tears and slow air leakage that was not really preventing them to be used, just annoying. I wanted to take them with me on vacation, so off they went to be repaired. Peter checked them and suggested that trying to fix them would be as or even more expensive than replace all the bladders on all of them. I received them back shortly before my holiday so I decided to take them there "brand new". The 9meters was leaking worse than before and not usable for more than 20 minutes. One of the struts on the 13 bursted on the first session. So I removed the bladder and sent it to be patched locally. A second bladder bursted the following session. This time I was less lucky, because the valve isolating the struts was open and the entire kite deflated. I really risked my life on this occasion. When I finally managed to the shore, I started removing random bladders from the kites. This is when the horror really started. I removed a total of 5 bladders. ALL OF THEM have stretched marks on the top. Exactly where the previous two failed. God knows how many others have the same problem. I was furious, I sent Peter emails to be refunded, sent him the pictures of the damaged bladders, but he would not help without personally inspecting the kites. Reluctantly I agreed to send them over. I signed all the bladders with my initials at the bottom end, without removing them, and sent the kites back. He kept them for two weeks, inspected them and proceeded, without my permission, to refit the same bladders in them. EXACTLY! He refitted all the damaged bladders but one, back in my kites! Arguing that they where perfectly fine and safe, knowing I had to be rescued to make to the shore. He started to make excuses insinuating some one else refitted the bladders (because they were signed) or I left the kites "flapping in the wind", like that's something anyone does this days. Obviously none of this is true and he's just trying to blame anything else rather than a very poor fitting on his part. I genuinely think that anyone can make mistakes. There is no shame in that, and there will be people that had a nice experience with this company. But I'm also convinced that the real value of a business is not on how many things he does right, but in how puts right things that have gone wrong. He is convinced he did a good job refitting the damaged bladders and pressure testing them. I can't take the risk again with his work, and I can't believe he refused to acknowledge that 2 bladders blown and 5 damaged, all of which within two sessions after he laid his hands on my kites, are clearly because of how he did the job. I did not have any refund, or simply new bladders, only my kites back with the same damaged bladders. HAVE A THINK IF YOU WANT TO RISK THE SAME!

Super service. We bought wetsuits for our girls - one in the sale ans the other very reasonably priced. Lots of help with fitting. Totally recommend. 🙂
