Beautiful long sandy beach with shallow water. Pretty crowded in summer. Lots of shops and restaurant nearby. Lots of parking available.

Beautiful and Very clean beach, 20 minutes walk from the city centre. Prefer to visit in summer, water will be too cold in winters. Water sports activities also available.

We stopped off there after sailing into Dunkirk from Dover. A 5 minute walk from the museum. A lovely wide sandy beach with areas of sand dunes in Dunkirk. It was a lovely sunny day and the area was vibrant with bars and restaurants lining the promenade. The beach had plenty of room for everyone and it had a really nice feel to it.looking at it today it's hard to imagine what went on all those years ago during the war!

Beautiful sandy beach that is very close to the ferry terminal for ferries arriving from the UK. The beach is quiet with a lot of space to walk along it and there are sand dunes. This beach had a big role during the world wars and this history can be studied at the nearby Dunkerque museum.

Nice beach with an important historical story.

One of my favorite beach in France, it's kilometers long, nice and sandy, and the water is shallow. There are bars and pubs with excellent food. I visited little time after watching the movie and I was impressed. The only thing is that the weather might be tricky in Dunkirk.

Clean and huge and kilometer long beach area , very historical 1940 , as really nice to take a walk at the promenade , worth visiting for a nice ride on the bicycle , by walk or skateboard. Lots of parking possibilities , ice-cream , restaurants for nice lunch, there are toilets and showers and water to clean your sandy feet.

Buzzing beach with tonnes of restaurants and shops dotted along the shoreline. There are water sports, museums and art galleries close by as well. Highly recommend visiting here if in Dunkirk or possibly staying near the area.

Huge sandy beach, but the town behind the beach was a little run down and needed a bit of reviving. Lots of building work (March 2019), so looks like improvements are happening. Went on a cold and windy day so it was very quiet and atmospheric - can imagine it being a good place to relax & enjoy the sun on a warm summer day.

Good museum. Lots of rich history and respect for the lives given to a great cause. Video plays on loop (about 12 mins) in French with English subtitles and then in English with French subtitles, great watch. Awesome modeling which shows the severity of the evacuation.

A very well preserved museum with a linear timeline depiction of the events that led to the evacuation and the aftermath of it. Tickets are €8 per adult and all information is available in English. Please make sure to have at least 1 hour in order to be able to see and read everything that this museum has to offer. There is also a very large parking right in front of the museum

Nice visit. We spend almost 2 hours. Since be read in detail and saw the videos. We didn’t have to make a line to get in. Unfortunately, no dogs allowed.

Really nice little museum, where the story of Operation Dynamo was well explained. Well worth a visit. Only little downside is there could be more for children. A must is also the tour of Dunkerque and beaches, where the you can see where the battle actual happened. The shop is small but very good.

It is not a large-scale museum, and it takes less than two hours to see all, but it is a fascinating museum with impressive exhibits.

Brilliant and expansive museum covering Operation Dynamo and the British / French withdrawal from Dunkirk in 1940. Wide range of well preserved exhibits, lots of signage in both English and French. New displays make for a pleasant visiting experience. Reasonably entry cost of €8 EUR PP.

Nice little museum dedicated to the 1940 Dynamo operation. It contains some pieces of history, that you don't necessarily see in other museums. I found the exposed plane engines and a soldiers note book very interesting. Entrance is 8€ for adults. There is also a small shopping room, sadly they don't have any bags for your bought mercendise.

Good museum,staff friendly and helpful....but the story line is how the British ran away leaving the plucky French to fight on alone........I don't think so

A very interesting visit. I've been to Dover Castle where the plan was organised from. To think if this plan failed, the outcome of the war could of been quite different. This was not only a win for Brittain but for everyone and everything involved in WWII and beyond.

Even though it was a bit rushed because we were close to closing time, I really enjoyed visiting this museum. The information are well written, lots of interesting photographs from those times and many interesting articles. Overall it gives you a good feeling of what those times were like, and this is why I recommend this museum 100%

You can see all along your visit how this extraordinary Dynamo operation has been prepared and tackled during those few days between may and June 1940. Very nice museum and highly recommended for visiting it. The stay was also very nice and friendly. You stay with watching a movie which is either in French with English subtitles or the other way around. Then there are interesting facts in the time order which explain more details. There are also interesting artefacts including uniforms, weapons and even done vehicles. Little models of the city and beaches are also very nice. For the event that was so important in the world's history and there were multiple movies about it, I would probably expect a bigger museum. Plus I wished to know whether or not the building in which this museum is located played any role in the Operation Dynamo. Other than that it was really great experience.

This was an extremely good experience. I took a walk following the information boards along Quai de la Cunette, from the Gare and eventually realised it led me out to the end of the quay before turning back on itself and heading to the Museum. It was quite a walk in the heat but well worth it and very flat, easy terrain. Not so for the British soldiers whose story is so well presented at this establishment as well as the virtually untold story of the local population of Dunkerque and the struggle that went on as the Wermacht invaded. With tons of artifacts and meticulous displays, photography is welcome, without flashes though. The girl on the desk was so polite and helpful and the guestbook is always open to thoughts and comments. A pleasant surprise was a lack of emphasis on gifts and souvenirs; they are there to be had but refreshingly take a small place in the general spirit of the venue. The building is actually one of the bastions used by British command to oversee the evacuations. Heartily recommend this for any WW2 buffs. It was also fantastic to meet a family of fellow Aussies on my way out🇦🇺🦘😃

In the area for the RWC23, and visited the Dunkirk memorial then went to the Operation Dynamo museum. Very reasonably priced, paid quickly and started walking around. It’s very well laid out with sort of walkway into archway rooms filled with all sorted of things from WW2 and the Dunkirk evacuation. From guns to jeeps and uniforms to a spitfire prop the museum has everything. Very moving to read the description of the events leading up to and during the evacuation of the BEF and others. Well worth a visit.

Fantastic little museum with some brilliant artefacts to view including stuff found on the beaches locally. Perfect size and location to pass an hour whilst waiting for the ferry.

Very well kept, clean, with a huge amount of information! The temporary exhibition was small yet made fun and interactive with quiz questions here and there. Many fun facts to learn from. The museum is spread over three floors. A bit uncomfortable to go up and down stairs if you have mobility issues, then again, I didn't ask whether there was an elevator available. So don't hold me on that one. What made the museum a full experience was to be able to visit the ships ashore. Audio explanations were made available, but even just walking around and reading the information available gave a fair idea of what it could have been like at the time these were at sea. Definitely recommend if you're in Dunkirk

You pay 8€ for adults and you can visit 3 boats, Duchess Anne included, and 3 étages of the museum building. It was quite interesting to pick up on the board and to see the real boat which was given as a part of reparations after WWll from Germany to France. However the museum is a bit boring. Yes, it's absolutely renovated with an interesting design inside, but not enough actions or at least the possibility to take a guide excursion. So you are just walking from stand to stand, from ship to ship and that's all.

A 3 storied museum full of details and scale models of ships from the olden days till recent, almost 4 centuries history. It is split into a permanent museum and a temporary museum. Kids with interests in ships/boats/barges will like this place. Requires about 90-120 minutes. Opposit to the museum are the two monuments - Duchesse Anne & Sandettie (Ships). A combo ticket with museum and the boat for the family would be a good option. Keep aside 150-180 mins of total time for seeing these.

Fascinating museum of local maritime history. There are also tours of the light ship and a 120 Year old square rigger ship included in the ticket price. A really good day out. Be aware that the museum closes between 12:30 and 1:30 pm. You must leave but your ticket readmits you after lunch.

There are many things to see. Unfortunately there is very limited information in English. Very disappointed with this. There were also videos of Port History at different places, still in French. Overall the museum is nice, but the language makes it hesitant to recommend. Being an international place this problem should be taken into consideration.

You've got all kinds of miniature ships... and that's about it. It's nice for the first few minutes but after that it's just more of the same stuff. One of my friends was really into this things and even he got bored. There was also the pirate show which I wouldn't recommend either. Also, the big ship can only be visited by private groups.

Great museum about the history of Dunkirk ! One of the top places to go when you are visiting this area. To visit the boats you'll need an extra ticket.

Fantastic museum, I learned so much, great tour guide and really interesting. Thank you. The additional exhibition of watercolours in the Far East was also really lovely. The model ships were incredible and the whole museum was very well presented. I highly recommend.

This is very amazing and very great museum and after visiting this got lot of knowledge and got to know a lot of history about this place and overall world. Must visit and highly recommend this museum if you’re in Dunkirk.

Excellent exhibition over a number of floors mapping out the history of the port of dunkirk, its ships, and the people working at the port. I am English, and while some descriptions have English translations, some did not thank goodness for the translation app on my phone. I perhaps would like a guide in English just to enhance the visit, I still had an enjoyable time and learned something in the process.

Great museum, it was €9 for the museum and €15 for the museum and boat. We only did the museum but it was very entertaining, they say it takes around 1 and a half hour to finish the museum. Id recommend it to anyone who has time

Really impressed with this zoo and surprised it isn't more recommended. My children loved seeing the red pandas, flamingo, lynx, monkeys and all the other animals. All the animals looked well looked after in spacious areas. We also visited a free graffiti workshop for children. The staff was so helpful communicating in English with my children. The tickets were very cheap too. I would recommend to go there when in the area.

Really nice for the small price. We could easily spend 3 hours there, the animal habitats were well kept and quite big. There even is a petting zoo where we could play with the goats!

Great place to visit €4 each we spent about an hour or so there but with kids I guess a while longer there's a few activities centers for them and picnic tables half way round by the unisex toilets and the gift shop at the end.

A very small zoo for the number of animals and low cost are all red flags. We went nevertheless with the hope of being wrong. It is sadly not a place that I would recommend. The enclosures are too small, the animals exhibited signs of boredom and distress. There was zero entertainment for the animals to replace what would they have lost being captive. We left after 30 mins feeling saddened. I’m sorry we went.

I love this zoo: it’s a medium sized zoo with a couple of interesting animals. Sea seals, red pandas, griffons. An area with a few contact farm animals is also there.

Great place to visit wonderful to see the enjoyment it brings to the faces of the French School children on thier educational visit's. Staff are helpful and polite .. it's a small compact Zoo surrounded by house's. Return visit 1st December 22. Still a lovely place to visit and enjoy. Bird flu means isolation for a few of the species..

Beautiful view from the top, especially at night. We went on one of their special "apero" nights and had a lovely cup of mulled wine and biscuits. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, definitely worth a visit.

Best view of the city.

One of the best attractions in Dunkirk in my opinion, the Monday we went there was a lot of wait in the afternoon so we came back the next day and a bit earlier. We were able to get some places to go up and have a view of the city. You will have to walk a few stairs which are super tight and not a lot of space, warning if you are claustrophobic the climb is very unpleasant

This monument was beautifully preserved and a climb to the top of the tower was breathtaking as you could see the city below for miles.

Definitely worth a visit! Staffs from the tourist office were very friendly and helpful. They gave us a city map with bus schedule for our day trip in Dunkerque. 5€ for adulte to visit Saint Éloi Belfry was the best thing to do. Free for children under 7 years old. With a 360 observation desk that offers a mind-blowing view make this place the landmark of Dunkerque.

Went here on our holiday to Dunkirk and was impressed! It was only €5 which isn’t bad at all and the views are great! I would definitely tell anyone that visits Dunkirk give this place a go!

Unfortunately it was closed when I arrived but it was lovely to view from the outside nonetheless. There is a big parking clomped nearby and if you don’t mind walking for a bit you can park on the bingo parking lot for free.

A great place to get a 360 degree views of the city, the sea and all the historical places and monuments. If visiting with family then one can take the family ticket than Individual tickets. Right below the tower is the information center. You take lift till 5th floor and then take the steps to the top of the tower built in the 14th century. Do plan to spend at least 30 mins to see the bells ringing and hearing it while you are next to them :-). A good experience for sure.

Even just to enjoy the view from the top floor, you could pay the small entry fee. Interesting,temporary exhibitions.

This museum has a very nice collection of contemporary art. When we visited there was a joint exposition together with the other museum just across called Lieu d’Art et Action Contemporaine (Museum of Contemporary Arts). We enjoyed the visit that develops over 4 different floors that mix physical pieces of art, visual and digital art. I haven’t spotted big names but for sure there were many interesting pieces. The museum is modern and well kept. It extends on one warehouse which gives a very impactful atmosphere to the pieces exposed. There are a small bar and shop inside. We visited on the first Sunday of the month and the entrance was for free! Highly recommended when you are in Dunkerque.

We loved the FRAC which is located in a building that is matching an adjacent container terminal next to the port of Dunkerque. Very nice exhibition celebrating the 40 year anniversary of the center and breathtaking views on the beach and North Sea coastline.

Lots of interesting exhibits in a great post industrial building. Worth visiting. Lots of provocative pieces. Not always sure what's an exhibit and what's part of the building! It turned out that the "click, click, click" in the section that was inviting me to reflect on the constraints of time and space was not an installation but a bucket catching drips.

I went on sunday and the entrance was free, so no complaints about the price. The exhibit was modern art about the cosmos because of the anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch. There were also the more typical somewhat arty farty stuff like a suitcase with paint coming out of it or stuff like that which I always find amusing. There are also toilets available which are cramped coz you can't easily get in and close the door (the toilet is too close to the door). Outside you have a nice garden with a pond and sculptures. Certainly worth a visit if you're in Dunkirk.

We arrived with our dog and asked whether there was somewhere one of us could wait while the other went round exhibition. My wife went first whilst I waited in room with drink machine. A lady came in and made a fuss of dog as did a charming mature gentleman. When I was just coming out my wife was being shouted at to get out with dog. Not politely either. We had only taken her in with permission. The most objectionable woman had no manners and how to deal with a problem. This incident soured our last day in France in a situation not our fault. Hope she is pleased with herself

Sympathetic art exhibition that is well worth an hour of your time if you want to experience French post-modern art.

It's an odd museum—it's on the empty side exhibit wise, and while some of the exhibits are interesting, the staff just hang out everywhere, just kind of looking at you in a board way as you walk around. Like, i dont think we were ever out of someone's eyesight. I'd say, if you're a big fan of contemporary art, you'll probably like it. If you are not a huge fan, I'd say skip.

Beautiful aquarium, fish got plenty of room. Unfortunately there are hundreds of little kids screaming through the halls but that's not the business' fault.

Nice little aquarium, free for kids and only €3 for adults. It is closed on monday. When we went there there were loads of big groups of kids everywhere. It made it a bit hard to move around the aquarium and very very noisy, poor fish.

Quite small but the aquarium was very well looked after, very clean and there are some beautiful fish. The large yellow puffer fish which took a particular interest in our phones springs to mind along with the stacking turtles🐢.! There is also a little park outside which kept the kids busy for a bit longer😊

This church is absolutely breathtaking both inside and out. It is well maintained with historic murals and statues.

Once I had chance to visit the city, actually it wasn't that bad as people said. the city has their history after 2nd world war and some building are restored obviously. They also have some nice restaurants which serve local foods. :)

Great place to stop with kids. We stopped on a Sunday, and it didn't start to get busy until after 2pm. There was some French line dancing at one of the cafes. Good fun!

If your experiences in casino is formed from visiting major city UK casinos or perhaps Las Vegas, then lower your expectations and you'll be fine. However there is a blackjack table and a roulette wheel and then I guess about 80 machines doing roulette blackjack and slots, a snack bar, a bar and a restaurant which closes at 10pm despite the casino open til 2. Think you're going to The Ivy and end up in a Harvester.... That's about it!

Small gaming hall. A lot of recent slotmachines. Only 1 roulette and 1 blackjack table open after 9pm. Free parking. Free bus from La Panne (20 C3). No locker where you can put your bags. Expensive drinks. €5 for one Leffe.

Excellent place. My knowledge about casinos is extremely limited but I had fun there. The bar and restaurant is also quite nice.

Tired, dirty and well overcrowded on roulette. The Roulette table was wobbling and flooded with Romanians and Arab speaking youth in tracksuits who would literally push you and lean over you to place chips on table. This is the tackiest and least classy casino I have ever attended. Be vigilant with your wallet at the roullete too during frantic placing of bets. I think the rude lunges may be a deliberate distraction ploy

Great selection of modern arts. Had a group of kids a d they loved it. Very inspirational and imaginative. Kids go free and EUR 4 for adults. But during holidays it's free at times.

Sympathetic art exhibition that is well worth an hour of your time if you want to experience French post-modern art.

It's an odd museum—it's on the empty side exhibit wise, and while some of the exhibits are interesting, the staff just hang out everywhere, just kind of looking at you in a board way as you walk around. Like, i dont think we were ever out of someone's eyesight. I'd say, if you're a big fan of contemporary art, you'll probably like it. If you are not a huge fan, I'd say skip.

We had a nice little walk around the park looking at the sculptures.

Nothing much here. Just a garden with these sculptures. If you have a lot of time then you can walk through here. I would not recommend tourists to spend time here.

Google says this is a sculptures garden, I thought it a WWII gun emplacementv that smelt of pee......what do I know ;)

Wandering about here and reflecting on times gone by was an experience, sure... But, it can't be said that it is the most well-respected historical part of the world. Not well maintained or appointed by any stretch of the imagination.

A nice free activity to do in Dunkirk. The sculptures are definitely modern art and each has a plaque with the name of the piece, the artist, and a bit of information about it, for example the materials used and what it depicts. Leads nicely into the museum of modern art.

If you like modern sculpture and have an imagination, it's good. If not, don't bother. The modern Art museum in the park has a good collection of 20c works on paper.

Very nice, the garden was better then the actual museum haha. Loads of contemporary art. Definitely visit the garden and the fun displays there are all around.

Interesting place to visit. History is amazing

It's a good stroll around. There are some interesting sculptures and sights, a good way to spend some time walking around the area.
