The ocherfields are a nice place to visit if you're in the neighborhood. It is an old mining site where they would mine ocher colored rock. The fields stretch quite far and make for some beautiful landscapes. The nearby town is also worth a visit, as it is very colorful, with all building being made out of or being colored with the stone from the fields. Do keep in mind that the walking routes through the fields are relatively short. These fields are also a big tourist spot, so you'll want to keep that in mind when visiting. If you visit early in the day and outside of the tourist season, you'll probably have a better time enjoying the ocher fields.

Be aware that reservation required in the month of July and August to visit this place. There are little lavender fields in the town at a walking distance. Dont Forget to buy colour pigments if you love to paint. There are many vineyards in this region to explore. Note: the place becomes really hot in summers so be prepared for such weather and carry a lot fluids and fruits for hiking trail. Hiking trails are well marked (yellow or red).

The color palette of red was everywhere in this valley, every view had something to give you like a framed painting.The walk itself is not too difficult, but if necessary, it can be divided into a longer (50min) and a shorter (30min) tour. We didn't wait long to enter, there is a nearby car park which allows you to park your car for the whole day at a modest price (€4).

I was worried that it might be too crowded, but we arrived around noon on a Friday in early November and had much of the (longer) walk all to ourselves. I went to see this Abbey for the second time. This time I went in early October. I knew the lavender would not be in bloom but I wanted to see it again anyway. I was not disappointed. The rows of once purple lavender still had a slight blue hue. They lead the eye like arrows to the newly washed stones of the Abbey. Once grayed by time, these stones are now a warm yellow. We were able to go inside, but it was Sunday and the monks were celebrating privately so we didn't get the tour. We walked around outside toward the back of the Abbey. The grounds are littered with big trees and brush. You can spot the bright white statue of Mary up the hill peeking between the branches. It is definitely worth a visit in any season, but if you can, it is best to time it when the lavender is blooming in June.

A beautiful, picturesque Abbey, steeped in serenity. I visited the Abbey in April, with all countryside in bloom and green. The historical value of the Abbey dates back centuries, and it’s wonderful to walk around the different sections and learn about it. There is a hiking path connecting the Abbey with Gordes village, if anyone is interested. There is lavender planted in all surroundings, making the place unique.

Went with my family for a nice walk and self tour inside with totally new way of guidance. Fair fee and pad with video tour software showing the past and present days. Also the shop with all kind of staff will just amazed me. Lavender bee honey is just one of my favorite and this one is worth every penny.

Very unique place, loved the serenity. Dogs are not allowed close to the monastery. You can however walk around it with them. Going inside there is a lovely shop with lots of regional products. Is a nice stop to combine with other places in the area. We spend around 1.5 here (but we went inside separate because of the dog)

A great place outdoor is the best to take some pictures and smell lavanda fields perfume. Indoor is less impressive but still worth a visit if you have never visited a 12th century abbey. Last time I was there was in summer 2017 but I am pretty sure nothing changes in a place like this, where time has literally stopped. You can book a guided tour if you want to. THis is a 4 star review as I enjoyed Gordes site more.

Very pretty stop to see the Abbey. It has a tour with a screen to scan in order to get more information about the life and times of the monks living here. Silence is necessary when walking around. However the drive here can be a little tricky so be careful making your way here.

Such a beautiful place, but it deserves so much more. Our guide seemed to be totally bored by his job, acoustic was terrible and the church was a messy construction site. To be honest, I was really disappointed as I still had such wonderful memory from this beautiful place from long ago when amazing Maronite music could be heard throughout the building which added to the magic. Sénanque definitely still is worth a visit but the tour felt soulless.

beauty and knowledge are two things you will take away from this amazing senanque. I can’t wait to return when the lavender is in bloom in the summer. I visited in mid October and the weather was perfect. the interactive pads they gave you to visit through the senanque is top-tear I live in NY and this was better than the museums there. So informative about how the Monks have lived and continue to live in this beautiful Senanque. The shop is incredible and a lot of their product is sourced from the grounds! The experience will take about an hour or hour and a half. The architecture of this place is stunning. Just a 10/10 and so well priced, tickets are cheap and the gift shop is reasonable. A true Gem and beautiful experience.

Secluded monastery in the middle of nowhere. It's near Gordes but you need to go a bit further. Parking space is a lot and not too pack with people. This is an incredible place to visit during lavander season. The visit will take up to 1 hour, and with the ticket fee you get and audio guide that aims to explain the history of the place. The place is crowded with tourists so it would be wise to visit early in the morning. Definitely pay a visit to the nearby town of Gordes once you are there.

We walked here from Gordes which was well worth the trip (but wear proper walking boots as the path is loose rock and extremely uneven). In March, which still seems to be the low season, this astonishing building was serenely peaceful and tranquil – especially the cloister. I felt so grateful to the monks for inviting the public into their dwelling. Recommend visiting out of season to really get a sense of what life must have been like here for centuries.

Well worth a walk around an old and very original township

A beautiful French commune that is well worth a visit! It's perched on a hill with spectacular views of the valley below of the village and wine yards. A chateau to visit and an underground cave type thing where they used to store oil and food. Each entrance fee is around 5€ per person. lots of eateries around Gordes and cute shops to browse in.

Careful: the road to the village is extremely narrow, making it almost impossible at times to meet oncoming traffic! For a while, traffic was completely blocked when we visited (at what turned out to be a peak time.) The village itself is totally worth the visit though - it's fascinating to walk around and have a peek in the different houses, stables, workshops... and get a sense of the history of the place. It's fairly small so take your time and just enjoy the atmosphere. I only wish the road there was better suited for traffic and the receptionists were nicer (they seemed very much over tourists).

Located a ten minute drive from Gordes, you can visit a settlement of drystone buildings, all made without any mortar. The oldest building dates back to the 17th century. They haven’t made it all touristy so it’s really nice and authentic. Make sure you visit it.

The place is nice and worth a visit if you are already in the region. The roads leading to the location are extremely narrow.
