The old town is incredible and very rich in atmosphere - it feels like going back in time. A small recommendation - if you go there, go when the weather is a bit worse. I went when it was raining a bit and the streets were empty - that's the best way to experience it in my opinion.

Benedictine monastery of St. Mang is a very interesting building. We couldn’t go inside when we where there but nonetheless, we we’re still impressed by the architectural symmetry of the place. It is located in the center on the city, definitely worth a visit if you walking around.

Lake Forggensee is a large body of water, serene, clean and shining blue. On a mild fall afternoon, we walked from Fussen downtown to the lakefront. We took a boat trip and it was a nice relaxing way to enjoy nature and get distant glimpses of the Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles, and the Alpine mountain peaks. There are hotel accommodations with lakeview. Efficient bus transport back to Fussen.

Lech river flows from Austria flowing through Germany , in the state of Bavaria, making Forggensee, which is also a man-made lake. Slowly, this river flows until Augsburg before reaching the Danube. The special cyan-blue colors of the Lech can be also seen from Neuschwanstein castle. A walk around the Lechfall, crossing the bridge in Altstadt, Füssen is wonderful.
