I went here on an organised coach tour from Corfu. You can can get some stunning pictures of the rock formations by the side of the road at various points before going to any of the monasteries. The limited stopping spaces can become very busy at times. The tour I was on visited two monasteries. At the first monastery we made our way up quite a few steps to pay the first entrance fee of 3 EUR. There are a few spots on the way up to take more pictures. Fortunately we had an English speaking guide included in the tour price which really helped to understand the history and the meaning of the paintings etc.Definitely worth it if you can have a guided tour. We spent about an hour here The second monastery was down a lot of steps then up to pay the entrance fee. Again the guide explained about the history to provide some context. There were also a few information boards to read in English. We stayed here for approximately 45 minutes. Toilet facilities were available at both places along with small gift shops. Modest clothing is required and ladies have to purchase a covering if they are not wearing a skirt. Great opportunity to see a wonderful UNESCO heritage site. You could spend all day here if you walked around and went to a few more monasteries.

A must visit, while in Greece not just for it’s historical & immaculately kept buildings, the views are breathtaking & it is & was spiritually for me. But be prepared lots of steps if you want to go inside any of the churches. Also it is approx 4/5 hr drive North of Athens.

If you haven’t visited this amazing place you might consider visiting it. We stayed here for two nights and loved it. We visited all 6 open monasteries and also met a sunset. Apart from history and nature, stunning landscapes and culture we had a chance to taste a local Greek cuisine and loved it. I highly recommend visiting the Meteora.

Unique place. We went there with a tour starting in Athens. In total, we spent around 12 hours. It took us 5 hours to get there by bus. We visited three monasteries and stopped many times along the road for pictures in panoramic spots. Amazing place.

Wonderful places!! It's definitely worth a visit or a day trip from nearby cities or Thessaloniki. (About 3 hours drive each way) There is dress code for men and women. Men: long pants; women: long skirts. They do have some cover up cloth for those guests who may need it. Don't worry about the stairs, they are in good condition and enjoy the view as you get there. Remember to being cash for the ticket (3 euro per adult visitor). Roads are narrow and windy to go up or down as you enter the area. If you are easy to get car sick, be prepared for some remedies. Avoid the peak tourist times if you can to enjoy the places quietly and leisurely. They are not very big, but so have some detailed religious work can be observed. Along with some Greek and English explanations. Do watch out for signs for where photos or video not allowed. Be respectful and considerate. Enjoy your time and follow the rules and guidelines there. Don’t forget to visit the shops there to see if you may want to pick up some items.

The sight is amazing! The fresh air and the greenery, simply outstanding. Drive carefully there because the roads have scary curves. And don't go alone, you might find it boring. It good place for basic hiking too!

The monasteries on top of the tall spires is amazing. We visited two of them and saw the churches inside. Before setting out to the monasteries, definitely go to the bathroom before because each monastery bathroom has a long line.

Breathtaking. I visited the area on a tour, and all the 3 monasteries we visited, and the other 3 we only saw from the outside, were sitting in some of the most gorgeous locations, hanging up on the columns. Each monastery costs 3 euros to enter. Be aware that most of them, except "The Monastery of St. Stephan", aren't accessible to people in wheel chairs, and there is a fair amount of stairs everywhere.

What a beautiful place. We booked our tour with a local guide and it was definitely worth it. Georgia was very knowledgeable about Greek orthodox religion and the geology of the rock formation. Highly recommend

One of 6 monasteries in Meteora. Beautiful place to visit. Be aware modest dress only or they won't let you in. If a woman doesn't have a dress on, they'll provide you a wrap to use. You may or may not see a monk while here. Also there are a couple indoor areas that photographs are not allowed. Great little museum and gift shop where you can buy some souvenirs, including grappa they make onsite! Wonderful views from pretty much anywhere.

This has to be a wonder of the world! You must put this on your bucket list. Avoid peak times and often the most enjoyable part is hiking around the mountains and not necessarily in the monasteries.

The combination of the unusual rock formations and the medieval monasteries sitting on their peaks makes Meteora a very unique place. A few tourist agencies offer a sunset tours but I took a taxi to the sunset viewpoints. The panoramic views of the otherworldly landscape bathed in the golden rays of the setting sun simply took my breath away. Visiting some monasteries perching on the top of the rock pillars is also an experience like no other. If you enjoy hiking, you should spend a few days in this area. I thoroughly loved this place.

Simply amazing! We are not really a hiking couple with my husband but the everything we're so beautiful up there it worth every single minute of the 5 hours hike. We loved it highly recommended to see this once in a lifetime.

One of the most spectacular views you’d ever see in your life! Absolutely must see when in Greece! Make sure you book a tour with one of the official tour guides who have studied this profession and they have a lot of historical information to share.

A must visit site if you are traveling around. There are many monasteries you can climb and visit, most or whole of them requires a modest clothes and a low cost. And there is one we tried to enter but was closed (only Tuesdays). It is also beautiful just being around without entering.

Rich in history. View is amazing. Visited 3 out of the 6 monasteries in 1 day. Nothing much else to do around here. I would suggest max 2 nights. Check the visiting days of the monasteries.

This place is incredible, so beautiful. You should visit at least one of the monasteries. Wear decent clothes that cover enough like your shoulders, knees, etc. Tip: hike around this place to discover the whole area and to avoid the crowds. Go watch the sunrise and enjoy the views.

Stunning views and hard climbs. The monasteries are well worth it though, both the interior and exterior are remarkable! Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in mainland Greece. (PS: Stay for more than a day if you're traveling from Athens as most travelers only get to see about 2 monestaries, while we got to see 4 of them. You also get to spare yourself the trouble of being in the bus for almost 10 hours

There are no words to describe this place, Meteora is magical and amazing to say the least. If travelling from Athens, I recommend getting a private car ride up so you can see things in your own time and see the monasteries you most want to see. There are lines to get in to the monasteries and you must make sure you’re wearing clothes that cover your shoulders and are below the knees in order to get in. The views are breathtaking. Definitely recommend doing a day trip from Athens!

What a place and definitely worth a visit! I found all of the Meteora Monasteries we have visited beautiful and would recommend visit as many of them as you can. Really awesome how they managed to built the monasteries on the rocks and so close to the cliffs. Just be prepared to climb some stairs.

Meteora is amazing! The location is amazing and is a lovely place. There are loads of restaurants everywhere. The food is very good and people are very friendly. The monasteries nearby are very nice and it's great to visit. Definitely come here and you can also drive to Metsovo and Ionina.

Such an amazing place. The views are breathtaking. The monasteries date back to the 1300s and are very interesting places to visit. From a historical aspect they are an amazing story of human determination and perseverance. From a religious aspect one can feel in touch with God and closer to the heavens.

Very nice place to visit but it all depends on the time you have on hand. From Athens is a total of 8hrs bus drive and with the time spent there you will easily be gone from Athens for 15- 16 hrs. The tour I joined they visited 3 monasteries with around 40 to 50 min allocates to each, for an inside visit. Some of the monasteries have lost of stairs to climb so if your are not a fit person , just take it slow. The monasteries , some of them are lived by only a small handful of nuns or monks , which you may or may not see if you are there . The place and views are beautiful so if you have the time to spare , just go for it!

Amazing place, out of this world. A series of mountain top monasteries. Perfect hike from the village at the foot of the mountains. Also can be done by car. Not all of the monasteries are open every day, and all of them require a 3 euro entrance fee, payable in cash! Worth a detour.

Speechless! It's definitely worth going to! Don't be alarmed by the stairs, they are in great condition and you can enjoy the view along the way. One important thing is to make sure to bring cash for the ticket (3 euro per non-Greek person). Also, don't stress about the dress code as women are offered a pareo.

This is one place in Greece I definately recommend seeing. A Unesco Heritage site that stimulate all senses when seen in person! It wasn't cheap nor easy getting there, 5 or 6 tolls each way, 4.5 hour drive from Athens, but it was worth the effort. A place few people had heard off, but gaining in popularity for good reason. Imagine monasteries pearch high up on monolithic steep rock formations, its like a city in the clouds. No picture or video can do this place justice. Just Go!

A wonderful visit to the monasteries of Meteora. Read up on them first. Look at all the photos you want: no photo does the place justice. There are 6 active active monasteries out of 24. Well worth the entry fee (3€ per person). Visit the shops for mementos. Toilets are available in town and in the monasteries. I would recommend checking out the monastery toilets, it's an experience 😉. One word of note: there is always one monastery that is closed, so make sure if you want to enter a particular one, if it's closed on your visiting day.

This is the largest and most popular monastery. It's well worth the visit but can be rather busy and crowded. The hike up has several steps and narrow passages, but worth it to make it up. The top has some great views and a beautiful monastery inside. There is also some museums and exhibits containing documents and clothing and other artifacts ranging as far back as the 13th century. Would recommend, and try and make the stop sooner or the crowds and parking might be a bit overwhelming.

A wonderful place. Something that each of us should experience. Beauty that cannot be described with words. It must be visited and seen. To consider everything that nature has created and man has arranged. To feel the spirit and the positive feelings.

This was incredible! We had a local tour guide named Tina who took us around. The history is Amazing. There are 3 monks who live here currently. We actually saw the abbot! Which was cool. You must be able to walk 530 stairs up. Bring water.

It only looks difficult to get into, but it's not that bad! It's very reasonable that for euros, and they have a great museum that you cannot take photos or videos. Terrific views all the way around.

Well worth a visit. Views are stunning and the monasteries are fascinating. If you only have time for one then go to the Great Monastery. It rained while I was there so the ramps and steps were slippy, so make sure you have appropriate footwear. Women are required to wear a skirt or wrap, which they will provide for free. 310 steps, Yes, I counted them.

Lovely in every corner. The 300 steps include both upward and downward steps and were totally manageable. Views from the monastery was breath taking.

Went on a Sunday and it was pretty busy but the ticket line moved quick. Only €3 per person. I wish I had more time but it was a day trip. I liked their kitchen showcasing their old cooking artifacts and the wall paintings inside the church/chapel. Parking was difficult, had to park down the hill but it was worth the uphill walk to enjoy the views of this magnificent monastery. There are about 300 steps you need to climb from the entrance to the top of the monastery.

Absolutely wonderful place of peace and beauty. Be prepared to climb about 300 stairs to the entrance. Enjoy the museum rooms and the views of the area, and especially the church, with interior walls painted in 1552 (no photos allowed inside).

Wonderful place to be with such unique geographical and manmade harmonious together. For the ladies, you need to have a big scarf to able to get in any monastery and all these places are not design for physically Challenge.

As we were visiting Meteora monasteries on a Wednesday we did : 1) Varlaam 2) Great Meteoron 3) Rousanos Great Meteoron is one of the « main » monastery at Meteora next to Varlaam and Holy Trinity. It’s located near Varlaam, so it’s quite easy to do both. Regarding access, there is around 300 steps, but it’s quite okay. It took us 1 hour in order to visit it. It can be visited within 45 minutes, but as they are a lot of guides, if you stay a few minutes at a point place, there is huge likelihood that a guide will pass with his group in order to catch one part of the explanation that may be interesting This one has two small museums inside with very nice pieces

This is the largest and most complete monastery in Meteoron, it was not damaged during WW II. There are two sections of work separated by centuries so there are examples of earlier Greek Orthodox artwork then later. The church is in the square shape prominent in the earlier periods. The artwork outside the main sanctuary is particularly interesting because it depicts every imaginable way Christians were tortured and killed. The sanctuary on the other hand has the cupola with Christ at the top, followed by angels then Mary and the apostles. The museum lower level is interesting with some artwork. In the hallway outside the lower level of the museum are many posters, especially from War War II with Greek and Italian propaganda. The old kitchen is also worthy of your time. Lots of steps, a bit of a workout if you are not used to steps.

A breathtaking and incredible place. It is very hard to imagine how monks were climbing there on the rope ladders. We got there in a cloudy and rainy weather. The monastery looked marvellous and mysterious. The clouds were moving fast, after some time there was nothing visible, just a white wall in front. After waiting for some time, we were able to enjoy an incredible view from the monastery.

The biggest of the spectacular monasteries on the rocks above Kalambaka. This one has the usual great views from the terrace and a richly decorated church. There's also an atmospheric little museum with some spectacular religious relics. The gift shop is a bit overpriced compared with the others. Entry fee is E3 (Greek citizens enter free). Be aware that there are over 300 steps up to the entrance.

Not too many tourists on a Monday in November. Such beautiful surrounds. Everyone should visit here. Best with your own car. A guide would be helpful but not necessary.

An extraordinary place. The steps are challenging especially those with mobility issues, but if you are determined the reward is great. The frescos and views are amazing.

What an amazing monastery. From the outside and the inside, this monastery is something spectacular. I loved every single thing in this monastery. Everything I saw was just amazing. The views from the monastery's garden are just breathtaking. To reach this monastery,you'll need to walk about 300 steps, but every step is worth the effort. Every woman must wear a long dress or carry something to cover her legs (to the knees) even if she's wearing jeans. I'm saying this because I was asked to do this, while my male friends who wore shorts had no issues at all. Also, everyone must wear a shirt that covers their shoulders.

As per it’s name it is a great meteor on Monastery. The open space for visitors is relatively small but enough to impress visitors. Such a nice experience.

The Meteora Monasteries are a must visit if you are going to Greece. Even if you are not catholic or religious, do visit to experience the peace, calmness and beauty of this place. You will encounter the Breathtaking views, amazing positivity at these monasteries. There are 6 active monasteries to visit but be mindful that they close on seperate days of the week. You can buy tickets when entering them for each priced at 3 euro. Also wear comfortable shoes as there stairs to get to them.

We didn’t know that they are not open on Friday, so we went back again on Saturday. A pleasant walk (lots of stairs) up to the monastery, but it can be challenging to some people, We were there in the early morning, so we could not capture a lot of photos because of the direct sun. But the view from the monastery was indeed magnificent (just like other monasteries nearby). Interesting toilet door (automatic gate), too.

Incredible views. They now provide a scarf for women to use as a skirt. Women need to have a dress that covers the knees (the scarf they provide is acceptable) and men in pants. A bunch of stairs but not to bad

Interesting to see. Nice museum in this monastery with some amazing display of Monk's celebrating clothes. The interesting part is also a huge barrel that have been used to store up to 12.000 l of rainwater.

Breathtaking views of the monastery and the surrounding area. It is just amazing how these monasteries were built on these rocks. Then the beauty of the monasteries themselves is so impressive. It is just amazing to visit this wonder of faith and engineering.

If you anywhere(!) in Greece this is a must-see area! Don't worry too much about any of the monasteries being closed... You're going for the amazing views!

A large and spectacular monastery in the Meteora area. It is beautifully maintained, the frescos are fabulous and the ground’s immaculate. There is a massive barrel as well! If you are a lady and are not wearing a skirt below the knees they will ask you to buy one. Most of the monasteries supply them for free but obviously this one knows there is a market.

It is beautiful and contains a small, but informative, museum which has the information about the life in a monastery and the history of it. Paintings are fabulous. The view is spectacular!

Interesting visit, relatively easy to reach. The museum in the monastery has many unique artifacts. Would have been interesting to be able to learn more about the living arrangements in these Monasteries.

Top notch, over the top, great balconies and patios to get views of all the surrounding pinnacles. It's a little pricey at 9.50 Euro, and they are very particular about women wearing a skirt

Monastery with 500+ years old church iconography, majestic view reached by 142 Steps. If you are unfamiliar with Greek Orthodox, it's probably a good idea to have a guide to explain the architecture, church iconography, blue flag, bell system. There's also a wine cellar, and the original "transport" room, where a rope and pulley system is used to haul goods up, as the steps are only added after 1935(?).

Stunning! Must see. Please dress appropriately as it is a monastery. Women must wear long skirt or dress (not pants) and men must wear long pants. Entrance is 3 euro, the view is amazing and the museum tells the history andife.of the monks. Very interesting and fascinating hermit life in solitary spirituality.

This was our 2nd monastery visit after Holy Trinity (Great Meteoron was closed) and my personal favorite. The surroundings of course, the museum was very nice too. Just please try and be respectful, whether it's the dress code OR taking pictures (like some of these dummy reviewers) inside the chapels (cleared posted not allowed).

A nice monastery which has the usual spectacular views and richly decorated church, but also some different features. You can see remains of the famous 'basket lift' hoist which priests and monks used to ascend and descend, back in the day (it's currently used to lift supplies and building materials). There's an atmospheric preserved kitchen, also a massive 12,000 litre wine barrel, no doubt there was much revelry when communing with god LOL. Unlike the Great Meteoron, this one has only 150 steps to climb to the entrance.

We only had time for one monastery, and we were lucky to have chosen this one. Although the steps up to the monastery are not wheelchair accessible, they were a good exercise for us oldies. The climb was well worth it, as the monastery itself was breathtakingly beautiful with frescoes and views. We were pleasantly surprised by the great little museum, which was bigger and better than we had expected. The toilets were decent, and the souvenir shop at the end was a nice touch. We also appreciated the friendly coffee van in the car park. We were keen to try the net up and down the cliff face, but unfortunately, it wasn’t operating anymore. Like other visitors, we made a donation to help produce more wine for the empty wine barrel. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend this monastery to anyone visiting the area.

Wearing long skirt (or a long skirt dress) is mandatory for women. If you wear shorts or pants, you must buy a pareo (a peace of fabric which makes you look like you’re wearing a skirt) which is sold in the entrance. There are not many stairs and it’s not tiring at all but the place is still not suitable for wheelchair access. I think the parking space is not enough and many people have to leave their cars on the surrounding roads because tourist buses take up too much space. There is a souvenir shop inside. (The day before we ate at a tavern called Protato. The waiter who served us also works as a cashier in that souvenir store.) We went there on Friday around 10 am and it was not that crowded. It took no longer than an hour and a half to see everything. But when the clock hit 12 pm, tourist groups arrived and the monastery was bursting at the seams. Therefore, if you want to wander around comfortably, early admission is strongly recommended.

The best monastery in the area that is open on Tuesday with a nice museum to finish. If you don't have much time in the area I think this should be the one you visit first.

Very nice to visit. The artwork is beautiful. Be sure to have comfortable shoes and women should wear dresses or bring a wrap to put over pants. You can purchase a wrap before entering if you didn’t come prepared

Spectacular! Just stunning it leaves you in awe, I felt like I went to outerspace it was beyond surreal. The fact that humans made these atop huge stone mountains when there wasn't any inkling of modern construction leaves you thinking just how? Thank you Michael's Amazing Tours the trip was awesome.

I was part of a tour where we visited two monasteries and one nunnery. The sights were breathtaking. I hope you take the opportunity to check this place out as it is a treasure worth exploring.

Thankfully able to visit a 2d time several years later. Time does stand still! And Thank God for that! The stairs are improved and it is now easier to visit. The monks run the Monastery and keep it looking in good condition and Clean. Very worthwhile visit. Be calm, be quiet, and absorb the experience.

Such a beautiful monastery! It is small but really pretty, and the view from the top is amazing! There are quite some stairs to go up, but it is ok with a few stops. Parking: there are a couple of spots available for parking, but you need to make sure to come either very early, or a bit later (outside of the rush hour) to find a spot. Otherwise, just park wherever you can and then walk. As the rest of the monasteries, women need to wear long skirts and cover their shoulders, and men need to wear long pants. If you don't have appropriate wear, you can buy one use pants in the entry for men, or a cover up for women. The entry fee for tourists is 3 euros. As a Greek person though, you have free entrance, which was a nice surprise. There is a small souvenir shop inside the monastery where you can buy several handmade items from the nuns, books, icons etc.

There is a path leading up to the monastery so overall a little bit longer of a hike to get up. The inside want the best compared to some of the others, but if you have the time and don't mind paying another entrance fee of 3 euros each it's different and unique than the others and a pleasant stop

A nice monastery with spetacular view. We bought in the small shop a wonderful honey and other small gifts with religion meaning and not. A lot of stairs going up but easy because very large and the steps are not high. A must if you visit Meteora region.

A tiny monastery that is easily overlooked in favour of nearby others. At the very least do come here to follow the path over a rock, free, to have beautiful views of the other monasteries. There are free public bath (you don't need to enter the monastery to access them)

A little smaller monastery after a few steps thorough the forest up (or more stairs in the forest down, depending on where you stop). Worth seeing. Dress code is more strictly enforced here (skirt or long dress and covered shoulders for women and pants for men). There is a nice view before the monastery and then on the balcony and then a holy room below the main floor (you cannot take photos or videos here).

As we were visiting Meteora monasteries on a Wednesday we did : 1) Varlaam 2) Great Meteoron 3) Rousanos Rousanos is one not of the « main » monastery at Meteora next to Varlaam, Holy Trinity and Great Meteoron. This means that it’s usually less crowded however. There are two accesses via stairs, one (through the bottom) has some stairs and the other way (through the top) less. The Rousanos is quite small but has his charm, we like the small museum inside with some interesting pieces and can be nice as third (and eventually final) visit of monasteries I personally loved the draw of Meteora there

Small but super nice monastery with an amazing viewpoint of Meteora rocks near it. There are skirts and shawls you can borrow for free at the entrance.

Unbelievable place to visit, you really have to see with your own eyes. You can feel and touch history here, so if you are inGreece this place is a must see, regardless of what faith you believe in!

Our group of 4 paid for a driver and guide to take us to a set of monasteries in Meteora. We had only one day in Valos, and we weighed whether the 3 hour RT drive was going to feel just too much. After a full day of exploring several of the monasteries, I realize how impoverished that equation was. There is nothing to which you can compare these monasteries. They are as remarkable as every picture you’ve seen and potentially more crowded than you can imagine. Our guide told us that outside of the Acropolis, Meteroa is the next most-visited site in Greece.It would be easily worth it to leave extra early so you can get to your first one by 8:00 AM, and then allow 45 minutes or so for each one you are visiting.

The smallest of the 6 active monasteries. It has the usual richly decorated chapel, but no terrace, and just a small hall with icons and paintings in. But it's in a nice spot, you can walk down a pleasant wooded path from the road above, and then continue down to the road below after your visit. There are only a few steps up the staircase into the monastery. Entry fee is E3 (Greek citizens enter free).

Rousanou was our 3rd monastery of the day and while it was smaller in size, it was still a gorgeous place. Highly recommend that you visit if in the area.

Phenomenal views. The stairs are not as daunting as they sound. Must visit and carry change in cash when you go. They don’t take credit cards. It’s cash only and you cannot book in advance. Also they are closed on certain days of the week. So check in advance.

Easily accessible monastery with a comfortable parking. Amazing natural formation and perfect views.

One of the remaining 6 monasteries. It’s small and beautiful. The view from the top is amazing. To go to the monastery requires walking up the stairs. Must wear a decent skirt for ladies, sleeveless top and shorts not allowed.

One of the smaller monasteries. Still very spectacular views and lovely frescos but more to see at other churches in the area. The two bridges you cross are difficult for this with vertigo like myself. Actually the whole are is! I was determined to conquer my fears and glad I did though I was in a mild state of panic the whole time when climbing the stairs.

The spirit of God is there. The effort to build and maintain a beautiful monastery is amazing. You are not allowed to take pictures in side the church or museum. But the courtyard and scenery outside are good substitutes.

Nice monastery without lots of steps as others, recommended for older people or for people that can't walk long distances. Nice sceneries and items to watch(like a museum kind of style) with nuns explain the history of the items that are being displayed. Highly recommended if you are around the area

One of the best monasteries (I went to 5 of them). I loved it. It has the best church, amazing view of kalambaka and great museum. Would recommend to get a tour so you can get the best out of the frescos painted in the church.

Beautiful Monastery that I highly recommend visiting. It's 3 euro for an entrance fee and you can walk around and go into the temple. There's also a small gift shop as well.

Another great example to see. Populated by some 30+ nuns which you can actually see in the area. The church is beautiful as well as are gardens around the monastery. Definitely stop for this one.

The monasteries and nunnery at Meteora are breathtaking! A long winding road up the mountains leads to an active set of religious buildings. One of these was featured in a James Bond movie.

By far, the best restored chapel paintings. You can't take photos or videos inside. You can hike or drive to the site, and both options are excellent.

Another wonderful example of Christian tourism. Millions of dollars have been invested here restoring this monastery which houses several nuns but unfortunately they don’t feed the hungry or clothe the poor. They will turn you away if you don’t pay the 3 euro entrance fee. They have forsaken Jesus and the quote from Matthew 25:43 “I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me.” They make women wear skirts but will give you something to wear if you don’t show up in a skirt. They have a very popular gift shop as every good tourism site should! They do have beautiful views and clean toilets, which makes the cost of entry worthwhile!

The Monastery is beautiful with many frescoes decorating its walls and ceiling after a restoration project in 1960s. What is most stunning is seeing the monasteries from afar as they are built on top of the weathered rocks ranging from 300 - 550 metres in height. The monasteries look like they are suspended in the air; hence the name 'Meteora'

It is the most easily accessible monastery. The interior is splendid. Paintings are fabulous. Views are spectacular!

So if course in Greece the way to be closer to God is to build a monastery over 480+ feet up on what amounts to a big rock. Anyway this monastery has a 500+ years old church with a great view and the best thing is almost no steps. The original way of getting to this has always been via a bridge so no need for any rope winch or net. This place also has a Nunnery and is fairly large with a beautiful church.

Meteora is an amazing place and the monastery of Saint Stephen's was beautiful. It was also a plus that it went from the street/parking to the entrance, no stairs.

Likely the monastery that is easiest to get to. Very few steps to take. It's a nun-only monastery. Although the nuns are not hiding from visitors, I observed that all visitors respect the nuns' desire for isolation and didn't stop them for photos, which I like a lot. Afterall we are interrupting and intruding the nuns' self-sufficient spiritual lives. Please beware of dress-codes for visitors.

Beautiful and majestic views. Plenty of parking, and local restaurants to choose from. Women should wear a skirt, or at least bring a wrap to put over your pants. Also no sleeveless tops allowed inside

Very cool and interesting Place with a great view! It's a 10 minutes walk from the street - many stairs. Not accessible for wheelchairs. Many tourists and travel-groups. Explaining signs are missing.

Beautiful and impressive place to visit while in Kalambaka or driving through the area. The monastery is open on most days of the week - except for Thursdays. The entrance fee is €6 per person - only payable by cash. The staff kindly ask of you not to take any pictures or videos of the inside interior but you can take as many pictures surrounding the monastery as you like - and the views are stunning! A must see place.

This monastery is one of my favourite so far. Inside and out this monastery is so beautiful. I loved the garden so much. This place is truly peaceful. It's amazing what you can see from the edge of the garden. The monastery offers a beautiful  view of the town and the rock formation surrounding this monastery as well as the other monasteries.

Holy Trinity was the 1st monastery that we visited, having been at the door when it opened at 10. I would suggest reading just a little bit about the creation of these, just to add to the experience. Amazing location and the walk from the closest parking area on the road was not bad at all.

This is one of the smaller monasteries of Meteora but still a gem, especially if you come early in the morning. Most tourists go West to East. If you start in the east at this monastery, you might have it all to yourself. Here, one of the James Bond movies was filmed, and you can see how the baskets were pulled over the gorge. There is a tiny church that is open. The big one was in spring 2022 still under construction.

It was a special experience to visit this monastery. You must be very careful which day they closes. You can ask at hotel or tourist information. I walked from the town. It took me about 45mins. There are only 3 buses a day that takes you to all monasteries from the town. If you like walking, it’s strongly recommended but if not, better to book a private tour or van. They open at 10am. I arrived a bit earlier. The monastery was empty at the opening time. When I was on my way back, many people headed there so it’s recommended to go first in the morning. I was alone and wanted to take picture from distance. There are one man watering the plant so I asked if he can help me to take photo. However he said he can’t help because he is working, and told me to wait for other tourist to come. It was the expected inflexible attitude from people working at monastery. There was no sign of public toilet available for the visitors or any kind of shop, so you should go to bathroom wherever possible beforehand.

Oh my God, what an amazing place!!! I was literally blown away. These monestries are absolutely amazing. Don't miss it out. I drove almost 3 hours to get there and 3 hours back, but I enjoyed every single moment! When I visited, there were hundreds of people, if not more, but since the place is soooo big, there was plenty of room, and I had one of my best adventures ever! It is amazing, but I just can't stop wondering how, in the 14th century, they managed to build these gorgeous monasteries so high up on cliffs!!! I was truly vlown away! Don't miss it out!

Must see! But don't go if its hot (weather) or go as early as you can!! Since there is so many steps (no elevators) it is a serious stuff. U can go and park with car no!need a "guided" tour. Take some extra drinks/snacks with U since not all the monesteries have a "buffet" however u can always ask for water "nero in Gr." . Don't rush for all of them if u feel one is enough... u probably right however funny how the Nun's monestry differ from the mens...see pics

One of the most beautiful monasteries. Very impressive and well-kept. A climb of many steps to the top, well worth the climb. Park by the access road and then there is a steep descent to the path and then up the stairs. Careful horticulture, a very impressive view. Highly recommended.

It's such a fantastic monastery. Frescos inside are beautiful. To get the best experience, i suggest getting a guide. History is essential in order to really understand its uniqueness. The dress code is mandatory to enter.

One of 6 monasteries in Meteora. Unlike the other monasteries here, this one is.for nuns. Beautiful place to visit. Be aware modest dress only or they won't let you in. If a woman doesn't have a dress on, they'll provide you a wrap to use. You may or may not see a nun while here. Also there are a couple indoor areas that photographs are not allowed. Great little museum and gift shop where you can buy some souvenirs, including some liquors they make onsite! Wonderful views from pretty much anywhere.

A fantastic monastery to visit with an amazing view. But... you have to walk up and back down many many stears. You will not regret visiting this place!

Beautiful! Words are less to describe this beautiful place ♥️ 3€ for entry fees per person! Summer can be hot & uncomfortable. December was quite great time for me, less people, beautiful hiking trail, chilled weather & peaceful & enjoy wholesome 🤩 Be aware no food/restaurant available up in the meteora, carry food & water, no shorts & no short dress& sleeveless dress or allowed.

A wonderful, but very brief visit to Holy Trinity monastery at Meteora. Closed on Thursdays, so make sure to pick another day to visit. From afar, the monastery appears to stand apart from the rest of the cliff. But there is a walkway where you walk down first, then up and around. Be aware you will need €3 per visitor (coins/cash-not card) for entry. There's a (true) story where the monastery was used as a location for a James Bond movie, 'For Your Eyes Only'. This was before it became a protected site under UNESCO. There are so many professional photos available, mine won't do justice.

Amazing museum! I didn’t expect much from this small museum but I was blown away by the exhibits. The stuffed animals and sculpted mushrooms were incredibly life-like and reflected great attention to detail. There was a guide at the mushroom exhibit who was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about mushrooms. The mushroom products at the gift shop was really interesting! Would recommend visiting this place, such a gem!

Excellent museum. You can probably spend 30-60 minutes here. 5 euro, 4 if you're a student. First floor is the "natural history" section which consists of a variety of taxidermy. The second story has displays of many different mushroom varieties. If these fall within your interests you'll enjoy the museum. The gift shop has free mushroom tasting and a really fun variety of mushroom related gifts!

We were able to do the truffle hunt and then a tour of the museum. The truffle hunt was a wonderful morning activity. Very friendly people and a dog that was absolutely adorable. The truffle hunting was a success and the meal was delicious. If you love truffles this is great trip. The tour of the museum that followed was very informative.

[visited in July 2021] Unexpected gem of a museum to be found in such a cradle of Greek Orthodox spirituality that is the Meteora region! Very well kept exhibits and nice scenes on the natural science floor. The floor dedicated to mushrooms is the gem inside of the gem, with very surprising products made of mushrooms available to taste and purchase.

We love the collections. The animal exhibitions are fantastic, we saw alot of beautiful birds. And the mushroom rooms are gorgeous, very cute and knowledgeable. We learned very much and we're amazed by how diverse and beautiful the nature is.

I traveled with a tour company. First level has birds and animals of the world, with a handful of extinct or protected species... Not what I traveled halfway around the world for. Upstairs in the mushroom museum.. Lots of nice examples. I was ready to leave after 5 minutes. But the museum staff is friendly.

Friendly staff, a clean and well laid out museum, and almost everything is labelled on English. But there's really not very much here, and most of the animals are not local to the area. No more than 45 minutes is needed, and it's not really worth the E6 entry fee unless you've got nothing else to do. They could improve it by providing more local wildlife information and videos or interactive features/quizzes for the kids etc.

it's small, but one of the best museums I've visited. The displays are arranged very well, the staff are lovely and the gift shop is a treasure.

The lady at the front desk was very kind and offered to explain anything we wanted to know more about. If you are into birds, you would really enjoy it. The museum focuses more on birds (first floor) and mushrooms(second floor). The second floor had an interesting video on health benefits some mushrooms have. They also have mushroom tasting. Personally, the smoked mushroom was my favorite!

Amazing 👏 We enjoyed visit. Mushrooms were interesting also you can taste sweet and salty mushrooms and buy it. There is chocolate with mushrooms in shop.

We visited in the summer on 2022 and I meant to leave a review but forgot. Their mushroom exhibit is awesome. One of the team took time to chat with us for about half an hour, enthusing with us about mushrooms. I grow as a hobby, so this was fascinating, and very kind of him to spend so much time with us. The shop has loads of mushroom products. They had delicious tasters of candied oyster mushrooms, which my daughter still talks about. One day we’ll be back during the right season when there good foraging to be had. Thanks for a great experience in your museum and see you next time!

This small but wonderful, well maintained museum should be on everyone's list. The displays of animals are from around the world and we wondered why animals from Greece only were not displayed. But the taxidermy is incredible, they look alive. And added to that are the settings where the animals are displayed, very well done. The Mushroom Exhibit is so interesting and if you are there between March -Octobrer you can go Truffle Hunting! We really enjoyed everything about this museum.

If you like stuffed birds and other animals and models of mushrooms this will be your thing. It is weird. The taxidermy collection is large and well displayed. The upper floor is dedicated to mushrooms. There are many plaster representations of different types and some information. The gift shop has mushroom chocolate and other souvenirs. We’ll layer out, but weird.

Extremely well done! A small museum packed with more than enough material to make it worth visiting, especially with a group of kids/school but also for all mushroom lovers. The fact that there is a research center dedicated to the museum and the produce they sell, shows their commitment.

A very well presented museum! Only 2 floors, but also only €5. The first floor had a good selection of birds and other mammals along with an interesting video compilation of Eagles vs. Mammals (spoiler, eagles are terrifying!) The top floor had an exhibition on mushrooms including the option to sample a couple mushrooms in the gift shop. The display didn't have real mushrooms, but it did have very good replicas that were well displayed in a combination of both 2D and 3D formats.

I was really hoping for some more information on how mushrooms grow or some scientific background. I think if you have kids, the natural history part of this exhibit would entertain them but if you don't have kids and are not super into mushrooms or stuffed animals already, I think you're better off taking the time to see another monastery. Nothing against the staff or anything, just not my cup of tea for 5 euros a person.

Very interesting, highly recommended! Too bad there are no deeper explanations than species names and basic info. The staff is really nice and speak English fluently. The animals section contains Greek and non Greek species. We were told that most of the presented stuffed animals weren't killed on purpose, but brought from captivity and died naturally. Personally I think it's beautiful and a lesson to be taught to all stuffed animals museums. The mushroom section is well designed and looks amazing.

I love this museum! The QR code explanations are wonderful, the taxidermied animals look good (and have good explanations), and the mushroom part is fascinating as well. Lovely staff that are friendly and speak English fluently (which isn't expected, but certainly appreciated). Well worth the admission.

I was hesitant to visit this small monastery after visiting big monasteries nearby, but it was worth it. Because 1) it has great views of some of big monasteries 2) There were less tourists. 3) They are open until 4pm…..

Amazing view! Definitely a bit of a hike to get tot the top

Small monastry with a kind child at the entrance who speaks English. As shown on the photos is a steep walk nor too difficult neither too exhausting. There are some benches to recover along the path. They lend me a skirt. I only paid €3 as an entrance fee. The church is tiny, only two rooms but beautifully painted. It is a quiet place with stunning views.

Not a lot of "monastery stuff" going on, quite a walk, no dogs allowed, women must wear skirt. The view is lovely though.

Of the 4 monasteries I visited, this one was perhaps the most underwhelming. It's quite small and not much to see in terms of the monastery itself. But the views of the surrounding areas is very good.

(Translated by Google) The Monastery of Saint Nicholas in Anapafsas is the first Monastery we meet on the way to Meteora. It is located just a short walk from Kastraki village, 1 km away. For the name "Anapafsas" there are numerous interpretations, of which two are the most popular. The first is that the name "Anapafsas" was assigned by one of the monastery's benefactors. The second explanation has to do with the position of the monastery, being the first encountered on the way up to the other monasteries of Meteora and probably serving pilgrims and other visitors as a resting place before continuing higher. Rest is translated in Greek as "anapafsys". So Saint Nicholas of Anapafsas literally means Saint Nicholas who gives you rest.

Our last monastery of the day and even though it was smaller, it is still a "don't miss". Beautiful surroundings as all the others.

⚠️⚠️TO AVOID IF YOU'RE A TOURIST. I FELT ROBBED AND ALSO EXPERIENCED XENOPHOBIA INSIDE THE MONASTERY. We entered the "monastery" today and saw everyone climbing the short stairs upwards, but first, we stopped at the souvenir shop. Then we decided to climb and follow the crowd, and the man attending the souvenir shop told us that we had to pay 3 euros per person to go up. We paid. But when we went up, everything was under renovation, a boy of approximately 12 years old told us that we couldn't take photos. I asked why? And he said he didn't know but had to say that. (Does that boy work there? I don't know).. When we went up, we asked people if they had paid entrance fees, and they told us they hadn't paid anything. We went back to ask for a refund, and the man from the shop (tall, thin with glasses) refused to refund us, and also his colleague who was with him at that moment rudely told us that we HAD TO PAY BECAUSE WE WERE TOURISTS BUT GREEKS DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY BECAUSE THEY ARE GREEKS... (This is systematic racism) because everyone who goes to the monastery, including Greeks, are also tourists... In conclusion, it's best to avoid it; it doesn't seem like any "sacred" place, and they mistreat tourists instead.

Prepare yourself for some stairs but totally worth it. The view is different from the other monasteries. Few meters also up you from the entrance ( you can park from both sides) you will see a statue and a path starts there to Monastery Varlaam, totally worth walking .

This monastery was one of the smaller ones we visited, but the top of the monastery has a great view with a bell tower that is perched higher on the clift. Great views from the top of the surrounding area and monasteries. Overall not too many steps but some of them are rather steep. Would recommend to stop by to make it to the top of the monastery.

I went here on an organised coach tour from Corfu. You can can get some stunning pictures of the rock formations by the side of the road at various points before going to any of the monasteries. The limited stopping spaces can become very busy at times. The tour I was on visited two monasteries. At the first monastery we made our way up quite a few steps to pay the first entrance fee of 3 EUR. There are a few spots on the way up to take more pictures. Fortunately we had an English speaking guide included in the tour price which really helped to understand the history and the meaning of the paintings etc.Definitely worth it if you can have a guided tour. We spent about an hour here The second monastery was down a lot of steps then up to pay the entrance fee. Again the guide explained about the history to provide some context. There were also a few information boards to read in English. We stayed here for approximately 45 minutes. Toilet facilities were available at both places along with small gift shops. Modest clothing is required and ladies have to purchase a covering if they are not wearing a skirt. Great opportunity to see a wonderful UNESCO heritage site. You could spend all day here if you walked around and went to a few more monasteries.

A must visit, while in Greece not just for it’s historical & immaculately kept buildings, the views are breathtaking & it is & was spiritually for me. But be prepared lots of steps if you want to go inside any of the churches. Also it is approx 4/5 hr drive North of Athens.

If you haven’t visited this amazing place you might consider visiting it. We stayed here for two nights and loved it. We visited all 6 open monasteries and also met a sunset. Apart from history and nature, stunning landscapes and culture we had a chance to taste a local Greek cuisine and loved it. I highly recommend visiting the Meteora.

Unique place. We went there with a tour starting in Athens. In total, we spent around 12 hours. It took us 5 hours to get there by bus. We visited three monasteries and stopped many times along the road for pictures in panoramic spots. Amazing place.

Wonderful places!! It's definitely worth a visit or a day trip from nearby cities or Thessaloniki. (About 3 hours drive each way) There is dress code for men and women. Men: long pants; women: long skirts. They do have some cover up cloth for those guests who may need it. Don't worry about the stairs, they are in good condition and enjoy the view as you get there. Remember to being cash for the ticket (3 euro per adult visitor). Roads are narrow and windy to go up or down as you enter the area. If you are easy to get car sick, be prepared for some remedies. Avoid the peak tourist times if you can to enjoy the places quietly and leisurely. They are not very big, but so have some detailed religious work can be observed. Along with some Greek and English explanations. Do watch out for signs for where photos or video not allowed. Be respectful and considerate. Enjoy your time and follow the rules and guidelines there. Don’t forget to visit the shops there to see if you may want to pick up some items.

The sight is amazing! The fresh air and the greenery, simply outstanding. Drive carefully there because the roads have scary curves. And don't go alone, you might find it boring. It good place for basic hiking too!

The monasteries on top of the tall spires is amazing. We visited two of them and saw the churches inside. Before setting out to the monasteries, definitely go to the bathroom before because each monastery bathroom has a long line.

Breathtaking. I visited the area on a tour, and all the 3 monasteries we visited, and the other 3 we only saw from the outside, were sitting in some of the most gorgeous locations, hanging up on the columns. Each monastery costs 3 euros to enter. Be aware that most of them, except "The Monastery of St. Stephan", aren't accessible to people in wheel chairs, and there is a fair amount of stairs everywhere.

This has to be a wonder of the world! You must put this on your bucket list. Avoid peak times and often the most enjoyable part is hiking around the mountains and not necessarily in the monasteries.

The combination of the unusual rock formations and the medieval monasteries sitting on their peaks makes Meteora a very unique place. A few tourist agencies offer a sunset tours but I took a taxi to the sunset viewpoints. The panoramic views of the otherworldly landscape bathed in the golden rays of the setting sun simply took my breath away. Visiting some monasteries perching on the top of the rock pillars is also an experience like no other. If you enjoy hiking, you should spend a few days in this area. I thoroughly loved this place.

Simply amazing! We are not really a hiking couple with my husband but the everything we're so beautiful up there it worth every single minute of the 5 hours hike. We loved it highly recommended to see this once in a lifetime.

One of the most spectacular views you’d ever see in your life! Absolutely must see when in Greece! Make sure you book a tour with one of the official tour guides who have studied this profession and they have a lot of historical information to share.

A must visit site if you are traveling around. There are many monasteries you can climb and visit, most or whole of them requires a modest clothes and a low cost. And there is one we tried to enter but was closed (only Tuesdays). It is also beautiful just being around without entering.

Rich in history. View is amazing. Visited 3 out of the 6 monasteries in 1 day. Nothing much else to do around here. I would suggest max 2 nights. Check the visiting days of the monasteries.

This place is incredible, so beautiful. You should visit at least one of the monasteries. Wear decent clothes that cover enough like your shoulders, knees, etc. Tip: hike around this place to discover the whole area and to avoid the crowds. Go watch the sunrise and enjoy the views.

Stunning views and hard climbs. The monasteries are well worth it though, both the interior and exterior are remarkable! Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in mainland Greece. (PS: Stay for more than a day if you're traveling from Athens as most travelers only get to see about 2 monestaries, while we got to see 4 of them. You also get to spare yourself the trouble of being in the bus for almost 10 hours

There are no words to describe this place, Meteora is magical and amazing to say the least. If travelling from Athens, I recommend getting a private car ride up so you can see things in your own time and see the monasteries you most want to see. There are lines to get in to the monasteries and you must make sure you’re wearing clothes that cover your shoulders and are below the knees in order to get in. The views are breathtaking. Definitely recommend doing a day trip from Athens!

What a place and definitely worth a visit! I found all of the Meteora Monasteries we have visited beautiful and would recommend visit as many of them as you can. Really awesome how they managed to built the monasteries on the rocks and so close to the cliffs. Just be prepared to climb some stairs.

Meteora is amazing! The location is amazing and is a lovely place. There are loads of restaurants everywhere. The food is very good and people are very friendly. The monasteries nearby are very nice and it's great to visit. Definitely come here and you can also drive to Metsovo and Ionina.

Such an amazing place. The views are breathtaking. The monasteries date back to the 1300s and are very interesting places to visit. From a historical aspect they are an amazing story of human determination and perseverance. From a religious aspect one can feel in touch with God and closer to the heavens.

Very nice place to visit but it all depends on the time you have on hand. From Athens is a total of 8hrs bus drive and with the time spent there you will easily be gone from Athens for 15- 16 hrs. The tour I joined they visited 3 monasteries with around 40 to 50 min allocates to each, for an inside visit. Some of the monasteries have lost of stairs to climb so if your are not a fit person , just take it slow. The monasteries , some of them are lived by only a small handful of nuns or monks , which you may or may not see if you are there . The place and views are beautiful so if you have the time to spare , just go for it!

Amazing place, out of this world. A series of mountain top monasteries. Perfect hike from the village at the foot of the mountains. Also can be done by car. Not all of the monasteries are open every day, and all of them require a 3 euro entrance fee, payable in cash! Worth a detour.

Speechless! It's definitely worth going to! Don't be alarmed by the stairs, they are in great condition and you can enjoy the view along the way. One important thing is to make sure to bring cash for the ticket (3 euro per non-Greek person). Also, don't stress about the dress code as women are offered a pareo.

This is one place in Greece I definately recommend seeing. A Unesco Heritage site that stimulate all senses when seen in person! It wasn't cheap nor easy getting there, 5 or 6 tolls each way, 4.5 hour drive from Athens, but it was worth the effort. A place few people had heard off, but gaining in popularity for good reason. Imagine monasteries pearch high up on monolithic steep rock formations, its like a city in the clouds. No picture or video can do this place justice. Just Go!

A wonderful visit to the monasteries of Meteora. Read up on them first. Look at all the photos you want: no photo does the place justice. There are 6 active active monasteries out of 24. Well worth the entry fee (3€ per person). Visit the shops for mementos. Toilets are available in town and in the monasteries. I would recommend checking out the monastery toilets, it's an experience 😉. One word of note: there is always one monastery that is closed, so make sure if you want to enter a particular one, if it's closed on your visiting day.

Kalambaka is a spectacular and surreal place because of the jaw dropping views of Meteora and its wonderful people. I decided to booked a sunset photo tour to surprise my partner and it was the best decision ever! Konstantina and Christos delivered a great experience, stunning spots and beautiful pictures. We are going to be forever grateful to them. This is a wonderful City but when you find people and professionals like them you know your experience is going to surpass all the expectations! We spent two weeks in Grecce but this City was definitely the highlight of our trip in great part thanks to Konstantina and Christos!

We hired Christo and Thomas for a one hour family photo session while we were in Meteora. We were blessed they had availability for a morning session with only two days notice. Both gentlemen were pure joy during the session. On our way out of town, my husband spontaneously shared that he thought they were both charming. They did an excellent job directing us and putting our family at ease. We received our gallery and are blown away by the quality of the images. The positioning of subjects, the composition of the overall scene, the creativity of angles, is twas all incredible. If they were local, we would use them on a regular basis. I highly recommend handing over the responsibility for photography at this gorgeous site to these professionals. You will have the best memories captured with priceless keepsake images. I can't recommend them enough.

Konstantina and Christos introduced themselves as tour guides and picked us up to go on a “sunset tour”. They drove us passed the popular busy spots and brought us to a secluded area to see “the best sunset in town”. It sure was! Moments later, I was ENGAGED! At which point I looked back and saw Konstantina and Christos working their camera magic. They even brought us champagne and gifts! I can’t begin to tell you how kind and warm hearted they were. It was touching to see them be so moved. Given the fact we were a gay couple in a religious town, they went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. I later found out my fiancé and them worked for moths to plan the surprise proposal. From location scouting, to the time and place. They worked with us every step of the way. Honestly they feel like fiends. And the pictures you ask? It’s difficult to find words to describe how they were able to capture the emotion and the essence of the moment. From my shocking laughter, to the big question, and the kiss. I am forever grateful to them.

We did a photo tour with Konstantina recently and it was amazing!! She was funny and patient, with a great explanation of photography tips and knowledge of the area. I was shooting with a camera and my husband had an iPhone and she made sure to teach us both how to use them to the best effect. They were great at communication and helped me prepare and pack for the trip in advance too. We had a great time and would definitely recommend doing a tour - I only wish we had time to do a full day or multi-day tour! Highly, highly recommend!

My wife and I had an incredible experience with Meteora Photo Tour, guided by Christos and Konstantina. They provided exceptional service and knowledge, taking us to curated locations for capturing the stunning Meteora rock pillars with the diverse lighting of sunrise and sunset. After our initial morning shoot, Christos extended his expertise over breakfast to review our shots and teach us techniques to edit our photos. After the sunset shoot, he hosted us at dinner at one of his favorite family restaurants which allowed us to savor local cuisine; it is doubtful that we would have been able to find this type of restaurant with such generous hospitality on our own. The second day's trip was filled with enjoyable conversations, and the photos we made of bridges and landscapes were outstanding. My wife and I were at different skill levels and both learned a great deal which showcases Christos' diverse teaching skills. The dinners at family restaurants and the thoughtful gift of Angela's favorite wine made us feel like leaving friends. Highly recommend this tour; it's simply amazing! Their iPhone camera tips, composition, and editing suggestions were invaluable.

We decided to take the 4 hour sunrise photo tour. Christos picked us up at 5 am and showed us the best spots in Meteora to snap beautiful sunrise pictures. Once the sun was up, he showed us the best spots to photograph the beautiful monasteries of Meteora. Outside of the tour guiding, he gave us many great tips and tricks to snap the best possible pictures. I booked a sunset tour with Christos. I'm super happy for the experience. I learned about the area and the culture from a real local's view. Christos gave me great tips to shoot landscape photography with my equipment. We went to some spots that I wouldn't discover by my own. And of course, we took very cool shoots.

Amazing museum to get to know the history of the Greek educational system! The love of the collector, Mr Mpalogiannis, is obvious! All objects are nicely put! There is also a tour which takes place for all visitors! Definetely a place to be!

Great museum! Allot of history about Greek education. Featuring textbooks, classroom furniture (!), etc. A nice break from everything else around the area. The museum is pretty new, so don’t be surprised if you didn’t find allot of information about it in book guides. We stumbled on it by chance.

Very interesting museum, you have 1 room about Greek education, 1 other about the Greek revolution, 1 other about classroom and toy. And you can see short movies about Meteora ! Don't be shy and ask anything at the young girl, she is very cultivated and warm. It was a good moment, I learn a lot of things and found some similarities with France education.

The museum guide gave us a captivating presentation of Greek education history with examples of the books used back then, tools, toys, clothes, etc. Really good, highly recommended!

We really enjoyed our visit to the museum. Our boys were very interested and our guide was very kind and gave as a lot of information, her english was really good. This place is definitely worth for a visit, a lot of interesting side stories makes the visit even more attractive.

We all loved this museum that has so many stories to tell! It’s a must see if you are around. Take a little time to listen to the very enthousiastic ladies who tell you about Greec schoolsystem but also demonstrate and let you try to spin toll’s and try to write in oldfashion way. We learned about the Meteora Mountains and how the monks got up and down. We enjoyed the lovely old classroom and were even allowed to spend some time with our children to do their homework. Highly underrated church. The inside is steep in history! Don’t miss.

I have been to a lot of medieval Orthodox churches and monasteries in my time, all over Greece, Georgia and Armenia. This is one of the best I have ever seen. The frescoes - which cover every surface - defy belief and description. It literally feels like the Sistine Chapel. As amazing as the Meteora monasteries are, this is honestly better than any of them. A jaw-dropping place that you cannot miss and that you should visit for this alone.

Unique Byzantine orthodox church. Besides religious importance the church is unique for its architectural characteristics and the amazing frescoes which are very well preserved.

Hidden gem! Many people would miss this place, it's easily accessible and has amazing paintings. Even shows a section of the original mosaic flooring! €2 entrance fee, like most places round here unfortunately. But still worth it!

Quite a climb to get up here but worth it for the church and the view. A gem of a church and very friendly staff. They aren’t quite as strict with their dress code as the monasteries but relatively modest clothing is still required.

This is very well done for an overview of the area, Mount Olympus and the monasteries. We went there on a rainy Monday around noon and they turned it on for us. Very nice

A must go for everyone that visits Kalabaka-Meteora. In just 40 minutes you can watch some short movies in 3d about the history of the mountains and how they were created, the local wildlife and plants and the history of the monasteries. All for just a very small ticket price. Last but not least, the staff was extremely friendly and willing to give advice!

If you visit Kalabaka,Meteora, it's worth visiting. It is nicely done and a unique experience. You learn about the history of the land. You can book whenever you want to watch. It cost to only 3 Euro. It is about 38 minutes long. I recommend it .

It's always best to reserve or call in order to know the vacancy of the place. The ticket is 3€ cash or card. It shows the rich history and it became to be. It was also really cozy inside. You'll also be watching it in 3D which is provided to you and return them once you exit

Very informative and great way to learn interesting things about geology and formation of Meteora. There are many information boards to read around the place. It is a free of charge to enter, so I wouldn’t miss an opportunity to visit this museum.

Super informative and interesting, about how the amazing mountains of Meteora were formed. Everything is in both English and Greek and there is also a video with English subtitles. Definitely worth a visit, especially since it's free, close to the path and to a nice café

A nice and free museum that explains history of how Meteora developed. It starts at the beginning literally 4.7 billion years ago when this planet was formed. It explains rocks, minerals and over 2 stories lays out step by step process of the region. It's really worth visiting to learn more about the region.

A really nice museum definitely worth visiting giving a scientific insight on the creation of the Meteora formation. A good collection of beautiful exhibits amplify the pleasure. If in the area definitely worth visiting, also free!

Amazing small museum. It is free and has all the information you need about meteora and how it was formed. It explained the rocks’ shape, the caves and other geological phenomenas.

It was open when we came (around 13 a Friday) so we consider ourselves lucky! Free entrance. The museum consists of two rooms on different floors. First floor is about basic geology and displays info and examples (real life rocks!). The second floor is about the formation of the meteora rocks. Good concise explanation with images & video. Also some small local art and descriptions of the local caves that's been inhabited during the neolithic era.

One of the most modern and organized libraries in Greece on a pretty good location, suitable for working with laptops with free WiFi.

Great space to relax and read in, the facilities are impressive and the things offered to the children technology-wise is awe-inspiring. Staff is super friendly. Wonderful innovation, keep it up.

A lovely mid day stop when hitting meteora. It is a family run vinyard that has delicious wines and a great atmosphere. If you are visiting meteora it is a great place to take a mid day break.

We had an amazing experience! We had a tour with one of the owners , very communicative, answered all of our questions. At the wine tasting we tried many different wines and had lots of fun with our guide. The wine is top quality, one of the best I have tried! For sure it’s a place to visit when you are in the area!!

Our experience at Likaou was delightful. Lina was a wonderful host. The wines were we tried were great, and she brought delicious local cheeses. It was a pleasure getting to know her in the warm an cozy space. I highly recommend stopping by for a tasting if you are in the area. It is a short and enjoayble drive from Kastraki.

Our family had such an enjoyable time during our visit here. We enjoyed the conversation and the wine so much that we stayed for several hours (our 5 and 6 year old never complaining once). Highly recommend a tasting - it’s sure to be a highlight!

We came to Kalambaka to view the monasteries however our visit to this winery was very much a highlight. If we could have given 6 stars we would. Arrived without a booking during a thunder storm and were welcomed in by the owners who gave us a quick tour of their winery followed by a wine tasting accompanied by some local cheese and olives. The wines were up there with the best we have tasted and only wish we could have shipped some more home. Highly recommend!

We had a fabulous time at this winery. It is definitely the best winery we have been to and the young man who assisted us was so friendly and knowledgeable! Would definitely recommend to visit if you are staying in the area.

We visited your vineyard unexpectedly today at about 2pm. Even though we had no appointment your mother graciously hosted us and allowed us to sample your many fine wines. Even though we speak only 10 words of Greek and 4 words of Russian we managed to communicate very well and have a great laugh together. The experience for us is emblematic of the very friendly nature of the Greek people and a wonderful experience for us. Thank you so much for your flexibility and for sharing your wine with us.

Throughly enjoyed a wine tasting here. Staff was very friendly and informative. Some nice local made wines. Would have given five stars except for the price of the tasting that we weren’t told about until the end.
