Beautiful castle. Once you are on top the scenery is breath-taking. requires a bit of walk to reach it but the climb is not that steep. You can get in with a tour only. The tour was in German but the guide (at least ours did) translated most of the stuff in English, plus she gave us a brochure with room by room description. The guide was great with a sense of humour & told us some anecdotes about the castle. There castle itself inside is gorgeous, although it is not the original medieval furnishings of course but still interesting. They even give a chocolate coin for kids from an old chest. You can make pictures inside, although there is really no time for them inside or outside as you have to vacate rooms rather quickly for the next tour. There is a nice gift shop inside. Cochem town itself is a jewel. Covered in flowers & many little cute streets. recommend also to take a boat trip.

Great day trip. Perfect to take family and anyone you might have visiting. The castle is a bit of a hike up a fairly steep hill, but the views from the top are worth it. Went in the early spring and I imagine the vineyards on the hill sides look spectacular come midsummer.

Was really fun there We don't enter but enjoy the view and clean atmosphere! But the public toilets in the castle is dirty ( stinky toilet ) . Absolutely fairytale town with a beautiful castle hilltop. The way to castle from center is 30 -40 min walk uphill and very pleasant scenery. Perfectly placed facing the Moselle river, Reichsburg is the most prominent symbol of Cochem. There’s a fantastic old village surrounding the castle, where you take some time for a walk. They have guided visitation until 17:00h; going early is best option enjoy the medieval atmosphere of the place.

The castle is incredibly beautiful as well as the surrounding town. Definitely worth a visit. It's hard to find parking for the holidays. There are a couple of parking lots that are located above the castle, the path from them to the castle itself goes through the forest, it is very steep, keep this in mind. It is not very difficult to go down this path, but it is difficult to climb a steep one without physical preparation.

As Americans living in Germany for the Last 9 months this is by far our favorite place we have visited. We think it beats Paris for romanticizing, the tour was great! Wish we could see a little more of the castle but you get a good 35 minute tour and then have Bier and cake on the balcony overlooking the town and river. We will be back!

The best castle we’ve been in Germany, I know there’s more beautiful out there. But this castle is big clean feel like a home when you enter, they only have German tourist guide but they’ll give you a paper with English translation on it. You can take some videos and pictures inside too, I know some castle are not allowed. Even it was weekend it was not so crowded inside. They have clean bathroom as well, we did walk through the castle and it was worth it because you can see those pretty buildings on town OTW. You can’t park near the castle they have shuttle bus if you don’t like walking. It’s kinda hard walk going up the hills. Recommend this place, Cochem is small town but it so calm and peaceful place!

Absolutely stunning castle high on the Moselle river. We didn't have the chance to go in as the castle was soon closing for tours but we were able to walk around and take in all of the amazing views. Fairly uphill climb to get up to the castle but not too bad. Would highly recommend if one is in the local area. Can't wait to visit again and be able to tour the inside.

Let's start out with I had high hopes for this place. It was highly recommended and we drove two hours to visit it. Upon arrival we had roughly 30 minutes to see everything due to them closing and us running into traffi. We were greeted by an individual who didn't even say hello just a what do you want we are closing. We tried to talk a bit regarding the mustard and process and asked if we could try some. After giving a long sigh he allowed us to try some of the flavors before us choosing. Now for the mustard. The original is my favorite while the other flavors I had were more of a mustard which then they added spices. To me I thought it would have more of a unique taste or something different from just added spice. They do accept card and the mustard is around 7 euro. Now for the review. This place just from the staff alone. I would have to give it a 2 out of 10 on that 🔥 scale. The location is very beautiful and good walking distance to the downtown area.

A lovely mustard museum near the Moselle river, Cochem. Well worth the visit if you are in the area. Had the opportunity to sample the many mustards before purchasing. Very tasty indeed! Other products available to purchase if mustard is not your thing.

Just tried the sausage and a mustard of your choice for 2,50 offer. We really enjoyed it. Of course, some mustard flavors won‘t fit everyones preference. But the sausage was really good. While my favorite was the historic mustard, my +1 preferred the garlic mustard - a bit too intense for me.

Quite a unique experience! We visited this place some days back and found the guided tour quite interesting. The tour lasted 50 minutes. Since there is no parking available, one can reach there by foot or with the shuttle bus (which is only available between May and November). So, check their website before planning your visit. Raspberry & Blueberry Tart: The crust was perfect and the cream was tangy and sweet, in perfect combination with the sour fruits. Would highly recommend this one! Strawberry Tart: This one was less memorable. The flavours were quite separate and did not meld well that well together. The pastry base was too sweet compared to the tangier fruit and the gelatin glaze was too thick for my personal liking. If you happen to be in Cochem, it's still a nice spot to rest and people-watch. Their pastries are definitely worth a try!

Great Riesling cake. Texture is puree-like with rich taste of Riesling. Mandarin is soaked with Riesling as well. Not too sweet which is good. Would be great if the puff pastry part is made more crusty. Also felt that the mousse is abhit to much. The nutty florentino is not that special but good to go with coffee. Macaron is just soso, not worth trying. Cash and credit card accepted. Takeaway possible (cheaper).

This market is on the way to Cochem castle from Cochem railway station. Souvenier shops, chocolate shops, winter wear shops are a lot. Narrow lanes with shopping on both sides of the lanes makes it beautiful.

This winery is probably the best kept secret in the world. I had no idea about the Mosel wine region till a about 6 years ago and when I discovered the Walter J Oster wines made by head winemaker Michael Oster, I was blown away. Hands down one of the best wineries in the world . Small batch , hand made wines that are incredibly good . Trust me. Try them. Buy a case you won’t be disappointed .

Were allowed to try some Mosel wines before buying. Lovely wines are being sold here. Especially the 2018 Ediger Elzhofberg (trocken). Couldn't resist bringing some of these fine bottles home.

We had a really nice stay with the Oster family right after the floods in Western Germany 2021. The booking process was great, we received all the safety information reg. our arrival well in advance. We stayed in the Scheune - lovely historic building skillfully restored, great modern fittings (bathroom, comfortable bed, fitted kitchen) combined with a lovely design with antique furniture. The host was very welcoming - despite the stress of dealing with the aftermath of the flooding, Mr. Oster invited us to spend the evening with his friends and family. Incredible wines - aromatic Riesling, well balanced sweetness and acidity, with notes of mountain peach, white flowers and honey - will be on order for delivery for many years to come.

Wines too expensive for the quality, but experience of tasting is ok..

Worth a visit. It gives a insight of machine evolution of farming over the last 150 years or so (so lots of tractors and machines to look at, which my children enjoyed) and a flavour of rural life in the region over the period.

Nice place for a relaxed sip of Moselwine

This is a must do hike. We did a looped hike of about 2,5 hours from here. It is however not an easy path, def only for experienced hikers. Start on the wide and easy path and after a while you can go onwards to Göbelsmühle or turn right towards Zickelslay, a must do viewpoint. Take the right and start a intense climb up the mountain. The paths are good, it's just a big climb. When you get to the top you can go straight to the town of Greimersburg or take a right to Zickelslay. After Zickelslay you keep sticking to the right and start the descend again. This path becomes trickier, lots of small and loose stones and rocks. The very last bit that connects to the starting and main path is nearly not a path anymore, see video. Very doable if you watch your step. This hike was 100% worth it, so beautiful. End with a tasty and well priced lunch at the hotel. Parking is plenty and free. For people not so good with hiking I would recommend the hike to Göbelsmühle. It's a very even and wide path on which you can see car tracks. Have not walked this though so I don't know if you can make a loop of it.

Disappointing. We expected much finer hiking for a trail that has been awarded "best hiking trail in 2019" in Germany. Skip the first 10km from Ulmen! It's all walking on broad vehicle tracks!. After the waterfall and the first road crossing, there's an option to run the hike along a nice single track trail on the opposite side of the brook. There are two nice bridges, but alas, the actual hike continues on the wide track :( The section along the watermills is nice though, small trails and interesting landscape. But not spectacular or very special. Biggest dissapointment came when we reached the Weissmühle hotel, about 2,5km before the end of the trail in Cochem. There was no clear signage and the most likely path was closed, due to constsruction works that will last until 2023 ... we had to continue our walk along the tarmac roads into Cochem ... big disappointment.

Great little museum and definitely worth the price if you're interested in gemstones at all. Unfortunately all the information is currently only in German but I was told English signs would also be put up soon. Friendly staff and quite a large store with all sorts of stones to buy at a reasonable price. Just a heads-up, the store continues out back and the museum is upstairs.

Unexpected... Extremely well done, lots of different gems and minerals, historical equipment for cutting and polishing. The guide was very well informed and very enthusiastic. Well worth the five euro entrance fee... recommended...

We stopped here and the small staff was friendly & helpful. They guided us to the perfect gift for our daughter. They wrapped it carefully for the trip back home. Too bad I cannot find a way to order more online.

This is our favorite Mosel winery :) we come here every year to learn about their new wines and taste. Patrick has always been our tasting master and he does a magnificent job. The quality of the wines is really good and the service of the entire team always exceeding expectations.

Great selection of wine produced in their own wine yards and the local farms, as well as other traditional liquors. The price is not higher compared with shops in less touristy places. The staff is very knowledgeable in local wine and honest with the advantages and disadvantages of the products. It's very pleasant to chat with the staff while tasting some of the products. Charming hotel. The garden needs some maintenance, but the rooms and dinning room were nice and cosy. The owner is a warm and friendly person.
