It’s also right next to the beach, and there’s even a small zoo within walking distance (est. 5-10 min.). Really refreshing for a good walk. If you are a good swimmer then I would absolutely recommend a swim in this area. Of course you can sit along and do the sun bath as well, but strolling down this area is complete fun. It is an experience within itself, just go and feel it. Neat and clean, bustling with people but not a really big crowd, so it is better as compared to other beaches I have been.

It is a navigational structure on the edge of the cape, from here there are incredible views of the city and many large and small boats, ferries and container ships entering and leaving the Elbe. However, if you are very hungry, you can pick up some oysters, right on the beach which starts (or ends) here, especially at low tide, it's delicious and absolutely free;)

Love the view and the feeling here. The tower is really old and kinda rusty but it's just a milestone here. The main viewpoint is the beach and the sea. This is a good place for a camping trip by the seaside. You and family members can join the Sky skiing with parachute class near here to explore a new kind of water sport. However, depending on the weather, the time for swimming and skiing may varies unexpectedly. The day I came here, the weather was kinda bad so the time for swimming was very short (16:45 to 18:00).

When we were there, it was super windy and the water was pretty cold. So, make sure to check weather forecast, if it is windy dont forget to wear something that protect your body from the wind. The sand is so smooth and the facilities are good. For somebody from Indonesia, it is not typical beach for swimming but still enjoyable for walking only. We parked the car nearby. It seems at night the parking is free. We arrived sometimes at 7 pm and we paid maybe 1 or 2 euro and the park is until 10 am the next day. There is a special parking for people with van/ caravan too.

(Translated by Google) On September 8th, 2023 we booked a trip on the catamaran “Nordlicht” in captain’s class from Cuxhaven to Heligoland and back. We can really recommend choosing the captain's class, as you don't go to Heligoland every day. It was an unforgettable day for us with an outstanding crew, an elegant ship, calm seas, meals on board, not included, and fantastic weather of 24 degrees on Heligoland. The car can be parked in the shipping company's Helgoland parking lot, which costs 5 euros for the whole day. Reservations are not required as there is ample parking space. Passengers traveling by regular ship can board directly there. When using the catamaran, a shuttle bus takes passengers to the “Alte Liebe” pier. In the evening a ten-minute walk back is required. If we travel to Helgoland again, we will definitely only do so with this shipping company! (Original) Am 08.09.2023 haben wir eine Fahrt mit dem Katamaran "Nordlicht" in der Kapitänsklasse von Cuxhaven nach Helgoland und zurück gebucht. Wir können wirklich empfehlen, die Kapitänsklasse zu wählen, da man schließlich nicht jeden Tag nach Helgoland fährt. Es war für uns ein unvergesslicher Tag mit einer herausragenden Crew, einem eleganten Schiff, ruhiger See, Verpflegung an Bord, nicht inklusive, und einem fantastischen Wetter von 24 Grad auf Helgoland. Das Auto kann auf dem Helgoland Parkplatz der Reederei abgestellt werden, was für den ganzen Tag 5 Euro kostet. Eine Reservierung ist nicht erforderlich, da ausreichend Parkplätze vorhanden sind. Passagiere, die mit dem regulären Schiff reisen, können direkt dort einsteigen. Bei Nutzung des Katamarans bringt ein Shuttlebus die Passagiere zur Anlegestelle "Alte Liebe". Am Abend ist ein zehnminütiger Fußweg zurück erforderlich. Wenn wir erneut nach Helgoland reisen, werden wir dies definitiv nur mit dieser Reederei tun!

We had reserved tickets on board M/S Helgoland, a ship built in 2015 and owned by Cassen Line in Cuxhaven, to travel to Helgoland. When we boarded we did not know that the daily round trip to this island had been cancelled for the past 3 days because of a storm from NW. The sea state was still a bit rough but the ship has good stabilisers, allowing most of the passengers to enjoy their breakfast on board in style being eager to reach their destination in the North Sea. After 2.5 hours we reached Helgoland in pouring rain and some 30-35 knots of northwesterly wind making our way by foot to our hotel.

We took this ferry service to sail to the Seehundbänke. The ride was around 3 hours. They start the trip from the Alte Liebe towards Kugelbake and then make a u-turn to the Seehundbänke. This part takes 1.5 hours. You get to hear the history of the different landmarks on the way in german. Today, we saw 17🦭s bathing in the sun on the sand bank from the ferry. The viewing time from the ferry is around 10 minutes from each side of the ferry for all passengers. Bring a pair of binoculars if u really want to see the beautiful animals upclose. It might be frustrating for toddlers, young children to sit and not be able to see the animals so clearly. I assumed from the description on the website and from different google reviews, that we would be able to get off and walk on the bank towards the seals. For the price of 33€/person round trip, I found it not worth my time and money. If the description had been constructive and clear, I could have saved this time for relaxing on the Duhnen beach. This is one expensive learning experience😅. In the far background you could see the wind turbine farms. Remember to bring a windbreaker with hoodie and snacks for the ride if you don't want to spend more money at their restaurant.

This National Park is only a short journey from the centre of Hamburg by S-bahn. It has numerous bridleways, cycle tracks and paths suited for short or long walks through the countryside. This is mainly farmland and woods with some heath and marshes. I often see deer, cranes, white and grey herons as well as more common wildlife. A very relaxing way to spend a day off.
