Loved our 1st Martin Mere Duck Race. Thank you for a wonderful day. We are annual members and also loved the giant duck hunt. Grace the Giraffe Duck & Mary Swanson the Pirate Party Duck we entered into the 2024 Duck Race.

Fantastic family day at this lovely wetland centre near Ormskirk. We did the Easter duck hunt which my children 10 & 7 loved. We also hired canoes which was lots of fun. Free parking and cafe on site, also a good playground. Staff were very friendly, I would definitely return we all had a lovely day.

Brilliant place to go bird spotting a d for walking. Staff are friendly and helpful and will approach you and speak to you. The area is well looked after and beautiful to look at. Lots to do for all the family. It's a little on the expensive side for a one-off visit, but it does help support and look after the birds and otters. Cafe available and toilets. Also a playground for children and parking is free.Fully recommended 👌

Lovely easy access experience. Really enjoyed the use of the hides. Always something to see. There was no problem viewing in hides , but it was a quiet midday week visit. Cafeteria clean and menu adequate.

Great day out. There's tonnes to do: boat rides, walks, parks, picnics, building dens, learning about birds, crafts, watching talks/demonstrations, pond dipping. It's immersive and the kids absolutely love it. Plenty of parking, cheap entry for a family with kids under 4, great toilet facilities, plenty of benched areas for picnics, buggy accessible all the way round. We've been a handful of times and will go back, even though it's a long way to drive.

A beautiful sanctuary for a wide species of birds with educational information readily available everywhere. The paths are suitable for buggies, and almost all areas seemed accessible for wheelchairs (best contact the centre first to confirm this). The café serves meals and snacks and has indoor and outdoor seating areas. The visitors' centre has an interesting exhibition and the shop has a good range of merchandise. All in all, it is truly enjoyable visit.

Great place to visit. Paths are decent with plenty of room. Loads of bird hides, we saw a barn owl from one of them. The place is massive. It really is an all-day place. The wild walk was fun with lots of mud and balance beams to walk on. There's loads of different birds, ducks, geese and swans. Plus flamingos and otters. The otter feed was worth watching! There's a reedbed walk which is grassy/ tracks and quite long, with some more bird hides. Large lego sculptures are dotted about the place. Also worth doing the canoe ride on the wetlands. It's a great way to see nature and costs £10 for an hour. The carpark is free and large. There's a cafe, children's playground, gift shop and plenty of toilets dotted about. Well worth a visit.

A fantastic place to visit. Really accessible and great for kids. We visited the cafe and the food looked great. I’d recommend a membership. I regret not signing up on the day.

Wonderful bird reserve, amazing variety of species, both collection birds and native. Amazing regeneration of wetlands, really doing great conservation work, raising awareness and looking after their birds. Saw my first wild barn owl here. Great place for families and bird/nature enthusiasts

As a tourist visiting £30.80 for two adults was a bit steep sorry that’s $64.13 in New Zealand dollars. Maybe it’s better in the summer months but didn’t see many animals and none of the tv screens were working and the whole place felt like a ghost town and the cafe didn’t even look open with chairs stacked on tables. Not worth the money much better to spend the extra and drive to Chester zoo.

A very fun place to visit especially the park area for children and some lovely walks around the reed areas. A bonus for our ASD boy that no dogs are allowed. Only downside is the cafe I feel is expensive for some items. The cakes and coffee are good but a wider variety of sandwiches would be nice with gluten free more readily labelled, I would recommend taking a packed lunch. However there are loads of bird hides and very friendly staff who are willing to help out with information.

Wonderful wonderful place. Peaceful, meditative space to connect with nature in a very special way. Brilliant hides and enclosures, otters are too cute!

A remarkable nature reserve, easily accessible to wheelchairs and disabled people. Very child orientated with plenty to do and see. An amazing children's playground, places to purchase food and drink at reasonable prices. Wonderful in either rain or sun. It has loads of different birds and otters and they have feeding times. My kids loved pond dipping and other activities they had put on. I absolutely adored my visit and can't wait to visit again. Thankyou for the brilliant day out

Very lovely place with friendly and knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Alan on the boat ride was very informative. Strongly advise wellies for kids as they love splashing through the puddles and shallow water. Great play area and many activities throughout the year to get involved in.

Lovely place to visit. Ideal for young kids group visits. Not a massive complex but definitely has a lot to offer. Nice and flat ,clean and well kept nature reserve, I would say nature reserve on my views, if it isn't classed as one already it definitely deserves the title. Coffee and ice-creams are affordable and great value for the portions. My latte was served in a smaller than expected cup but tasted nice and strong and blended well with the mouth watering 🍨. Very friendly and professional staff. All extremely polite and helpful. The kids will love it, there is a kids play area here on your entrance and I can only see this as a misplaced and only downside to a brilliant afternoon vacation. I think this area should be moved to the end of the journey, kids can burn the rest of their energy off whilst you catch up with the latest or just sit and chat about the new memories you just undertaken. I'd definitely give this place 10 stars if that was in their planning??? 7 for that reason only.

As my kids are big fans of Shaun the Sheep this was a spot on attraction. Place is really clean and welcoming. Rides are great for any age and there is plenty to do for a whole day out. Food is homemade and delicious. A bonus is the price is really affordable. If you prefer picnic they allow you to bring your own food and there are plenty sitting areas outside. The shows were amazing, entertaining and they provided loads of knowledge through fun. My kids 6&9 already asked if we can come back 😊

We’ve just visited, it was wet and windy but we had a fantastic time. Everything still went ahead has planned. The staff were amazing, so polite, cheerful and full of knowledge. Lots to do between the timed events. 10 out of 10.

We really enjoyed our day here. My son loved meeting Shaun the Sheep (twice)! Lots of fun things to do here in any weathers. Good indoor play area and cafe, the farm shows we're entertaining and there are plenty of other outdoor activities to enjoy! Worth a visit!

Well what can I say about this place then just wow been in summer and was one of the best days out we had all year get the right weather and it's amazing day out for all ages so much to do see the animals indoor play area activities and out door play area the staff are amazing and so much effort put into this place. We have also been for Christmas event and honestly for kids the best Christmas display I have ever seen real raindeer to see and the effort put in by the staff truly deserves a special mention will keep coming back. Worth every penny. What you still reading this for book now lol 😂.

Great place to take the kids, we all had a fab day for my nephews 2nd birthday. We did find lots to do but there are a few things I have since read about that should be there but we unfortunately did not find. Could just take a couple trips to get a bearings of the place.

Took my 6 year old son here for the afternoon on the weekend, and we loved it! It's got everything you need even if it rains, with an huge indoor soft play and restaurant. Prices are very affordable. Outside are multiple play areas with quality climbing frames , craft tents, zip line amongst other things for the kids to do! The petting zoo part was interesting and the animals are very well looked after. Yes! We will definitely be going back again.

Been many times with the kids and most recently 9th May. Staff are always pleasant and happy to help. Food is great and facilities are always in good condition. Plenty to do and keep the little ones busy between the tractor rides, obstacle course, toboggan, indoor play area and cinema. Have also been to the Halloween and dinosaur events and these are not to be missed.

Not been for a few years with the little ones but went this weekend and we were so impressed by all the new add ons, something to do for all ages. They had a great time, from slides, to zip wires , go carts, bouncing inflatables to the dinosaur tour, all free no added money. Good cafe, (queue early) with great food. Indoor soft play areas to all the animals and side shows of the birds and feeding and grooming. We had a great time. Highly recommend.

Brilliant place for a childrens day out. Has a very wide range of activities that will easily entertain a child for a full day. Lots of animal sheds with well cared for animals, stalls for archery football and crafts, great games including hog splash, tractor rides and play park. Also two great mazes. Lots of shows which the staff deliver and engage people with humour and professionalism. The staff are so helpful and friendly. Food in the cafe is good. All round recommended.

We had a lovely day here with my 3 year old. Car parking is free (bring wellies in wet weather!) and the entry process quick. We fed the lambs milk, the animals food, and held guinea pigs. Plenty of reptiles to see too. There is a soft play area for under 4s, in the cafe, and the food itself was very tasty. Plenty of small attractions for younger children, which you need to pay for separately and a small gift shop too. We will return again.

What a brilliant day out! We have been to a few petting farms with our kids and this is by far the best one we have been to. Usually they are such a hectic day out but this place is so relaxed. Very well laid out and has everything you need (baby change, decent cafe, picnic benches etc) Great play area outside and a soft play inside. A great variety of animals and lots to get involved in like feeding the lambs or holding rabbits and Guinea pigs...or even a snake! The best part for me was how amazingly friendly all the staff were! Such wonderful people that really try to make the day special for the little ones. The lady and gentleman tending to the Guinea pigs were especially lovely to our kids and the man working in the reptile room! Our son was crying he was too scared to even go in the reptile room and 5 mins later he was holding a snake, the man put him at such ease. The cafe was great too, the lemon drizzle cake was delicious and the staff attentive. Really happy to have discovered this place, we will definitely be back 😊 Visited 22/04/22

Good place to keep the kids busy. Lots to do with a variety of different areas, including the rabbit and hamster area were they can stroke and feed thrm. The spider and snake area kept ours entertained, with the keeper making things very interesting. The Santa grotto, deer and steam train sounds great really looking forward to it.

Fantastic trip with the family out. Kids enjoyed train ride, ice cream shop, feeding the animals and playing on all the little rides like tractor and truck. Can't go wrong with a cafe shop n also free car parking.

Excellent place for the children to explore. Everywhere is well kept and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a small train to ride on, a few different play areas - including soft play - and you can feed the animals. Cafe is good.

Excellent place for the kids to come feed the farm animals, runriot in the soft play areas and also the outdoor park. All the staff were great with the children. The one thing letting it down is the food is expensive and isn't the best quality.

A great day at the farm! We took the train (it's free). Quite a variety of animals. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. Everywhere was very clean!

Had good few hours here with our 3 year old who loved it. Nice train ride included with animals to see along the way. Good playground, ride on tractors and fab soft play. You can hold snakes,spiders if you want to. We enjoyed the food from the diner which isn't over priced.

We have had the best day stroking and feeding the animals. This was a last minute trip where we arrived at 3pm, so we only had two hours, but we had plenty to of time to see the animals, go on the train, and have a coffee. The staff were all super friendly and provided educational information that was super interesting for both me and my boyfriend who are both in our thirties (we have no kids). All the animals look really cared for and clearly are treated well as they enjoy human contact which really warmed my heart. Although we only had two hours, I spend a lot of time with a black and white cow (my favourite farm animal) who really enjoyed being fed the food I brought from the farm for £1.50 and being stroked. This made me day! So cute and stroking her is definitely in my top 10 things that I've done this year. We are coming back again and again!

Absolutely fantastic place to take the kids. We return regularly every year. Also the Santa train there gets better and better every year. The critters is great aswell to see how brave you are. Food good and reasonable price. An all round great day out would recommend to anyone.

Went today for the first time it was fantastic not too busy. We were able to look round at all the animals and feed them, the reptiles were great and Wayne was fantastic with the children he was really friendly, and really knowledge, he really made the trip for me and my daughter and her friend. We had a great time holding lizards, snakes and spiders. The staff in the cafe were really helpful and the food was good. The indoor and out door play area was great and we finished the day with the train and feeding baby lambs. A really great day out, well worth a visit.

Went for my son's birthday treat today. It was really quiet and relaxed. Lovely array of things to do both inside and out. Tractors and adventure playgrounds and a brilliant soft play area and cafe indoors. Chance to get close to the farm animals and even bottle feed the lambs. Finished with a train ride round the farm and ice cream. One very happy little boy!

Be prepared to have your boat slammed against the wall . Drivers do not slow down past moored boats. Would give a minus rating if I could

The owner was helpful, even got close-up pictures of the race off the track. He keeps the unruly kids in line so H&S is sorted properly. His staff kept the crappie drivers back on track with min problems. Excellent day.

Booked this for 10 of us for Sunday. We booked it for 11am. They tell you to get their 30mins before hand to go through safety etc. When I looked to see what time it opens when I Googled it it says 11am. So thought our safety talk was at 11am. On their website it says they open at 9am. Which caused a bit of confusion of why I was told I was late. Staff on the track made sure we all stayed safe. If anyone crashed. Staff used flags to make us aware someone has crashed and needed to slow down. Great day everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves 🥇🥈🥉🏁

Good little track, good carts, easy going helpful staff reasonably priced. Early morning weekends good for novices and families. I have been before and will be going again.

Just done a grand prix for 9 people here using the newer part of the outside track we were the last group of the bank holiday Monday so had the place to ourselves staff are really friendly and helpful had a great laugh and really like the new layout of the track meaning you can keep your speed up through most of the corners would definitely recommend booking here much better and more relaxed than team sport

Disappointing experience today We turned up just as they opened to a wet track that was impossible to drive on due to a leaking roof making the track slow and the kart skidding all over the place. 30 mins and money wasted as you couldnt drive the kart as you should. The guys didn’t even say sorry and just took the cash. I would have thought in all honesty they would say as you had a bad experience then to come back another time.. but know they just showed us the door. I cannot recommend these guys at all Go to TeamSport not that far away for a completely different experience for the same money. Shame on you karting UK

Whilst working with underprivileged children where they chose to pick an activity each month they chose go karting. Karting Uk looked after both the staff and the children extremely well and the experience was so good we chose to come back time and time again. The karts are quick and with safety staff dotted around the track to provide help for crashed karts made our experience a memorable one. The price was very reasonable as well and safety equipment was provided.

I love a good look around a market. Ormskirk has changed a lot over the years and isn't as large as it used to be. But there is still a good selection of stalls. There is a small food stall area with meat, veg and the most delicious cake stall. Then a selection of clothing stalls and cards handbags etc. Most of what you would expect to find at a market is there.

Still worth a visit and as time goes on with severe austerity facing many markets will regain there bargain basement popularity. There is no way of hiding the fact that Ormskirk is no longer a shopping destination unless it is market day, Thursdays and Saturdays. The town centre has only a limited number of outlets still trading with many traditional local shops having disappeared altogether. I can't see the old Ormskirk ever being resurrected which is a great shame, even the ubiquitous charity shops have closed to be replaced by student accommodation. Like many similar areas coffee shops and wine bars abound some markedly better than others. Beware of Morrisons car park, especially on market days as you become liable to heft fines for parking over the allotted 2 hours, the rule is mercilessly enforced. Council parking is plentiful and very reasonably priced.

We travelled to Ormskirk on a bank holiday for a day out at the Vegan Fest and Artisan Market. What an absolute waste of time. Hardly any stalls. It took less than 5 minutes to visit all the stalls. Ormskirk as a place was very clean, and luckily, there were plenty of cafes open to grab something to eat and drink.

A charter market from 1286, it has truly stood the test of time, not as popular as in the 60's & 70's but still a good quality market, unfortunately no longer sells the original gingerbread. But nobody makes it in its original form

Well established market but the weather makes a difference on enjoyability but still have the shops of Ormskirk and lots of eateries, regular visitors go for favourites oodles stalls, good day out.

Found Ormskirk Market to be a charming and bustling local market that captures the essence of a traditional English market. Nestled in the heart of Ormskirk, this market is a vibrant hub of activity. It offers a delightful mix of stalls and vendors, creating a unique shopping experience.

Plenty of different produce and different stalls. Good atmosphere. Nice to walk around

Love walking through the market. Had some really good plants from the stall opposite Nordico and some emergency wellies from the shoe guy. The burger van is absolutely delicious 😋, definitely recommend 😁‼️

I never leave a review but had to when coming here. Venue is lovely but ordered a pizza from fedwells and all I can say is I feel I’ve been charger £14 for an Asda pizza. There’s no way you can convince me that the pepperoni wasn’t bought from a supermarket and you know it’s a bad pizza when they load it with cheese. When you compare the food to a similar venue like the Baltic market it’s streets behind but charging prices as if Ormskirk is a London borough. Sadly it won’t change because people will still fill this place out thinking they’re up market.

Christmas market was lovely. Venders were all polite and a good variety of stalls. Christmas music playing quietly as we looked around and enjoyed a wonderful freshly made pizza. The cakes only just made it home

Went here with some staff today - Great atmosphere, had an amazing chicken fried rice and then played a game of pool! Would recommend!

A historic market town. Nice open air walk. Loads of stalls. Just a pitty there are so many clothing stalls and so little variety. Great location and loads of food and drink options available. Plenty parking as long as you pay. Some nice old buildings and landmarks. Certainly worth a visit.

Lovely volunteer supported venue. Excellent staff and the facilities are smart and well maintained. Ormskirk is lucky to have a place this. Make sure you support this special place.

I attended the Ormskirk Civic Hall for a great afternoon of Wrestling presented by local promotion This Is Wrestling. Fantastic building, awesome atmosphere and incredible action.

Went to watch queen tribute was amazing

Visited here to watch Barnum the musical. It was fantastic. Large hall with a high stage, so it's easy to view from wherever you are seated. Bar to the right of the hall, which sells soft drinks, alcohol and snacks. Friendly staff. Great experience.

Great venue & live entertainment!

I went to a Eurovision party at the Ormskirk Civic hall. It was an entertaining night with lots of laughs. The drinks were reasonably priced and the staff were friendly.

With there being many cafés in Ormskirk, it can be easy to overlook The Chapel, but it's absolutely worth going. Not only are the drinks really nice, but the service is always excellent. The staff are eager to not only help, but engage with you and make you feel welcomed. This, alongside their clear cut position to engage with the community of Ormskirk via many events and creative based endeavors really solidify their place at being a wonderful meet-up spot for a nice hot drink. If I had to give any criticism, I would say that the food here is simply alright, but not fantastic (besides the desserts, of which I am obsessed with.)

I had my retirement celebration here. We had the hot buffet. Everything was just as I wanted it to be. Ruth was reassuring & supportive throughout arrangements running up to the event & Amanda & other staff on the evening were welcoming & equally helpful. I would certainly use this place again & can highly recommend

The staff are very friendly and always willing to help. The food is great for the price. The venue itself can seat up to about 60 people. It's clean and has a friendly vibe to it. If you get any spare time there's a gallery on the back which is worth a view . All in all a very well maintained great service and reasonably price id give 5 stars .

Lovely cafe, really helpful staff who are happy to cater for allergies and intolerance. I found my food a bit too sweet (much too much tomato chutney for me) but other than that no complaints.

It's a little away from the market so less busy if you want a drink and/or quiet chat with a friend. We felt welcome and the caramel flashback was the best I've ever tasted. There are artworks and artisan pieces to look at in the gallery in addition to the lovely coffee shop

Went last night absolutely freezing bitter cold room no ambiance no tables just a few tight rows of seats / compare not very funny no actual jokes, seems to have there buddy's in the audience first act was ok 2 other acts dreadful we actually ended up leaving it was that bad , we wont be returning again

Amanda, Ruth and Ian have created a very worthwhile space, for anything from Jazz nights and comedy nights, to a simple afternoon cup of tea and cake. Good place.

We went here to see Disney jazz tonight. It was excellent 👏 👌! The owner was very friendly and gave us a free ginger bread, home baked and gorgeous! It's really nicely decorated inside and even has a gallery. Definitely give this place a go!

The venue is fantastic, staff are lovely and helpful. The whole family had fun at the magic show and really enjoyed the musician. Didn't have any of the delicious sounding food so will have to try some next time, the cakes on display looked very tempting too

Cosy music gig. Loved the gig but found sitting on a stool for a few hours very uncomfortable. The table layout could have been improved to offer more seating around tables. I guess they did what they could in the small space.

Great evening last night ....the new series of jazz events The Jazz Spectrum hosted at the Chapel Gallery has found a great venue. Now how come I've never discovered this gem venue before. Totally recommend following them on Twitter and see the evets unfold. It'll get a big following in this university market town.

It is under new management, which is a blessing. Originally, the layout had the cafe at the rear of the building, although small, it became a tremendous success thanks to Mrs Fillingham, who invested a huge amount of energy and time in making it work despite the cramped space. When that lady left, the customers soon followed, and it became a wasteland. The building was revamped, but its cafe had no ambience unlike its original model. It had been put upstairs which seems to have put it out of reach. This latest manifestation places the cafe in the largest room available, the old theatre. If anything, it is too big, but nonetheless an improvement. Coffee originally produced in the original cafe was the best in town by a light year. The new management is courteous, keeps a clean establishment, and has regular clients for what appeared to be wholesome food. You won't regret giving it a go.
