Stunning place to watch the sunset. No wonder they once thought this was the edge of the world.

I don't recommend coming here in Januray. Due to the weather, it's too cloudy to see the sunrise or sunset on the mainland. Highly recommend to come here during summertime! The view was still great though!

The most South-Western spot of Portugal. Nice Lighthouse and lovely walks along the cliffs with amazing views.

Bring a hoodie or jacket, it will be cold 😛 food and drinks will also be great, only two small food tracks here

Amazing place and worth the 3€ to visit with lots of parking space in front. Take your time to walk round the whole area including the walls with the canons. Close to the light house there is a man made labyrinth with a really cool sound effect. No spoiler alert!

The wind is incredible here, and the colors at sunset are really popping!

Beautiful place to visit, where the earth ends, independently from watching a sunset or not. If you don't want to walk 1km, arrive early because several hundreds of people will be there at sunset. Wind 60+km/h, cold and wet, so dress accordingly.

One of the most visited viewpoints of the entire Portugal. It is very windy and cold even in August so it is strongly suggested that you wear a jacket and something for the head. It is possible to park along the street for free, but there is really a lot of people so came some time before the sunset. For us, the experience was totally unworthy because the sunset was totally "white".

I had the opportunity to visit Cabo de São Vicente today and I am absolutely blown away by its beauty and historical significance. Located at the southwestern tip of Portugal, this spot is a must-visit for anyone traveling to the region. In fact, the name "São Vicente" is believed to have come from Saint Vincent of Saragossa, a martyr who was said to have been buried here after washing up on shore. Over the centuries, Cabo de São Vicente has been a strategic location for both military and commercial purposes. It has been the site of numerous naval battles and is believed to be the last resting place of Sir Francis Drake, the famous English explorer. In addition to its historical significance, Cabo de São Vicente is also a great spot for nature lovers. The surrounding area is home to a variety of wildlife, including birds of prey and marine mammals like dolphins and whales. Overall, my visit to Cabo de São Vicente was an unforgettable experience. Amazing place for a sunset and walk along the cliffs. Cafe with really nice gelato as well. Not to be missed when in Algarve.

A great walk around the extensive peninsula area inside the fortress. Aside from the walls at the entrance, not much else to see than cliff sea views and flowering plants in spring.

Has to be seen to be appreciated. Worth the effort to get out from Lagos. Bring good walking shoes. The surfing here looked doable, too, but chilly. Beach is also worth a gander. Lots of hiking for the more adventurous.

Great place to visit. It's always windswept! We love the wild flowers and birds. Go to the place you can listen to the sea through the grids in the ground. It's magical

Loved the desolation. The cliffs, sea and views are magnificent. Definitely a worth the visit and stroll around the whole area. Visit the lighthouse as well. Take a windbreaker, trust me

100% worth the 3 Euros admission fee. The combination of the historical significance of this fortress and the cliff views is amazing and moving. When you’re here, take your time to stroll around - walk to the lighthouse, take pictures along the cliffs, watch the fishermen, and wonder on top of the fortress!

Outstanding experience. A wind and chill even in the summer, so take a jumper/jacket. It's surprisingly cheap and has many stunning views and historical points to look at. Well worth the trip. There are also some stunning beaches close by.

Amazing building and views around the fort are just MAJESTIC. Visitor museum is very good also.... Not alot to do in the small town after the fort but still worth the trip.

Interesting place to visit, but hard to appreciate its importance or historical significance as there was very little legible signage to tell you what you’re looking at. I try would have been great if they added more photos, or exhibits that displayed what the fortress looked like in its day, and how it was used, maybe even a map of how the space was used. All in all, it’s still an interesting place to visit, with amazing views of the coast line, and the castle still lends a lot to the imagination.

Good walks the cliffs. Very good views. The fortress is basic, not too impressive. Interesting exhibition of the portuguese navigator's journeys around the globe.

Located in the southern tip of Portugal; its an impressive structure offering stunning views of the coast, great history dating back to the 15th century. And a great spot to watch the sun sets.

The fortress is minimal, however the history is interesting plus the walk and views with added information on wildlife, plants was excellent. The chamber of sound installation is just brilliant.

Beautiful area to walk around with beautiful scenery. It costs 6 Euros for a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 children): August 2022 prices - well worth it. Allow 45-60 minutes at least!

Not much to see of an actual fortress, as it's pretty basic, but the walk around the peninsula was lovely. Sadly the chapel and other buildings were closed.

Nice walk if you have free time, but otherwise nothing super great. Entrance fee 3 eur. Good place to take photos.

Very cool place to walk around and soak in some history. It's also neat to see some local fishermen casting their lines off the cliff side. A great place to spend some time and enjoy Sagres.

Don't br fooled when you get there into thinking there is nothing to see when you get there. There is a lovely coastal walk with dramatic cliff faces and scenery. If you do the perimeter walk it's a leisurely 1 hour walk It was only €3 entrance fee. We'll worth a visit. I've never seen fishermen fishing like this before

Well worth the entrance fee. Lovely walk and gorgeous view. Watching people fish off "the end of the world" was so cool. Good information plaques and the gift shop was very cute. Parking is far (in US terms) from the entrance just be aware.

Starting point of Europe. Exhibition about historic trade explorations. You can experience amazing views, a natural cove and a fascinating wind tunnel. Must see when in Algarve.

The place is very open. We spent around 2 hours here and took a walk around. The place it accessible with a wheelchair but the walkway is a bit bumpy. Has a lot of parking slots available from which we had a very nice view at the beach and the surfers 🏄‍♂️.

Very impressive historical fortress. Reasonable entry cost and a vast area you can walk around. Interesting museum but rather disturbing that the only real reference to the slave trade (On which Portuguese trade was based) is about ships being "converted to carry large numbers of people". No cafe/restaurant available on site, just 3 vending machines!

It costs €3 per adult to get in. It looks quite dangerous for an active toddler so we didn’t pay to get in. There is free parking around 100 meters away from the entrance. Outside of the gate, the area is great for a walk but it is not covered or shaded. It could be quite hot.

We love Martinhal Sagres! The staff are friendly, attentive, and responsive. In addition, the resort is packed with amenities to entertain the whole family depending on their age. They played in the pool, bounced on the trampolines, played miniature golf, went on a treasure hunt, plus so much more! The rooms are very comfortable and well situated with any amenity a family (of all ages) might need. They have potty training seats, high chairs, baby sleep cots....what ever you might need it is at your disposal! Definitely our favorites location for family get a ways!

Fantastic experience for family. Parents can enjoy delicious food and wine, do activities by themselves while kids truly enjoy the kids club. First time that holidays get their meaning back since being parents. Perfect location next to a beautiful beach. Lot of cycling possibilities around. Sport center on the beach. Rooms are huge and fully equipped and some have amazing view on the sea.

What at amazing experience! One of the most beautiful places to spend quality holidays with family and friends. Would definitely return many times in the future! The poke bowls by the pool are the best!

This is a great family friendly resort. It's got loads of activities for kids but it's not cheesy. It's a good balance for whole family. It's a bit remote but that's part of the point and adds to the relaxing nature of the resort. The beach is basically private. The town of Sagres is nothing special unless you are keen on surfing or body boarding but there are some great seafood restaurants that are great value alternatives to the resort options for some variety.

Amazing resort. Location can not be beaten. Rooms were modern and have direct view to the ocean. Ocean is literally 20 steps from the resort. There are tons of activities for the little ones. Good restaurants

Stayed here for a week and great resort. Initially a few issues with Electricity on 1st night (kept tripping out, which meant no Air Con/TV and this was resolved on the 2nd day, and we were compensated accordingly. The resort caters for young families very well, so with our 11 year old we had limited options (due to all other kids being under 10). Great complex though and staff were thorough and polite. Fantastic location to base yourselves if you are looking to visit beaches in the region as there are plenty. Overall a fantastic resort that offers lots of variety (shame about the inflatable slide not working in the top pool, leading to a disappointed 11 year old). Recommended

We really enjoyed our time at Martinhal! The staff and service are truly amazing, everyone is being so nice with the kids and extremely attentive. It felt like everything is being done so that parents & kids have the most convenient & enjoyable time. Also loved our room (beach room) as well as the pool & beach area. The only thing that we’d love to the changed: please don’t keep lobsters in a tank in the restaurant. They really suffer & I’m sure guests are equally happy without being able to order lobsters.

We spent 4 days in the resort, and our stay has been delightful. The resort offers something to all profiles : if you are a family, you’ll be able to enjoy many activities for your children, and the rooms/villas/houses are all perfectly safe and well-equipped as well. If you prefer a more relaxing holiday, you can enjoy the spa, the swimming pools and many other services. Honestly there are so many activities that it’s impossible to be bored in the resort: sports such as tennis, football, canoeing, squash, horse riding, gym… excursions like marine safaris, tuk tuk tours, guided bike tours… but also three restaurants, bars, playgrounds… and for the icing on the cake, the employees are very caring and professional. If you travel in the region, not staying in Martinhal Sagres would be a pity !

It is my second time at Martinhal Sagres beach resort. It is absolutely fabulous! Lots of activities, this time I went to the fabulous outdoor heated swimming pool, did some hiking, a paddle game and still had time to relax and enjoy the marvellous sea view and go for a quick swim in the ocean. Martinhal team was always ready to support me and help making my stay fantastic. Delicious food! Great breakfast. Will be back soon!

Exceptional hotel. Kids were in heaven. Our kiddos (5 and 7) loved the pools, playgrounds and even the kids club. Lovely spa. Our ocean apartment was huge, spotless and had a wonderful view. Food very good and not ridiculously expensive.

Absolute paradise, fantastic location, brilliant service from everyone and excellent food. We spend 4 days here in May and really enjoyed it. Our son hurt is ankle the night we arrived and they even have a nurse on site. He was seen within 30 mins of calling reception. All the amenities on site are excellent and the beach views are spectacular. Could not fault The Martinhal, already looking forward to returning.

We went with children and grandchildren to this lovely resort. The grounds were immaculate and there were always staff around if you needed help. The swimming pools and areas were very clean and plenty of dry towels for the swimmers. The playgrounds were the same, very clean and tidy. It was a short walk along the beach and over the dunes to Sagres which Is full of shops and cafes and restaurants. A bit difficult with a pushchair I would imagine but well worth the walk.

It is a paradise (though an expensive one) for young families with small kids, which is the default customer profile. Yet it is surprisingly quiet, peaceful and quintessential. We loved how every detail was thought of to make the stay with a baby as smooth as possible.

Wow! This place is nothing but stunning! I went with my husband and 2 children and we had a blast all thanks to the amazing staff and the fantastic facilities that were open to us. We stayed in one of the ‘Garden Villas’ which had 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a kitchen. There are 3 restaurants, 4 pools (including an indoor/outdoor one) several play areas and a kids club (with a nursery). There is also easy access to the town and several landmarks that were great fun to visit! My children said they had an amazing time at the kids club whilst we got to relax by the lovely pools. There is also easy access to the beach and Martinhal can provide water sports lessons upon request. The staff were fantastically helpful/kind and made our stay fun, relaxing and extremely enjoyable. Definitely recommend! 5 stars! Thank you all staff for making our stay the best it could possibly be!

As a Solo off season traveler this December, my 9 day stay Was nothing more than peaceful. The entire Staff is eager to assist in each and every way. The landscape is simply beautiful, there is no where possible to be without a stunning view. Although very isolated, it is a 10 min, euro11, ride to Sagres where you'll find diverse Restaurants to changed it up. It is truly, as I could imagine during high season, a gloriously perfect resort for young families. The Details, down to the menu, thought out for children is exceptional. I certainly do Plan another off season visit and thank the entire staff for making me feel so taken cared of. Regards from cold Switzerland!

Very disappointed in service as well as food. The amenities and location are great with comfortable villas that are well equipped. Service was 50% hit or miss. Some of the staff were lovely and polite while some were plain rude and dismissive toward our group of 6. We were often met with people that were short with us and unwilling / unhelpful. The most disappointing part of our stay was the restaurant : most staff was either unpleasant or under-qualified, the food was the worst we’ve had in our weeklong trip through the country with bland generic cooking and unreasonable waiting time despite the restaurant being near empty. It’s a fantastic place that is unfortunately not managed properly. Definitely not meeting 5 star expectations.

This place is absolutely incredible for a family vacation with young children. The rooms are equipped with excellent child equipment (high chair, baby cot, stair protection, plastic dishes). The resort has an indoor swimming pool with complimentary baby swimming, a play room, several outdoor playgrounds and a restaurant with baby dishes on the menu. The kids club is also available for all children with very good staff. Kids even receive a welcome gift at the reception! I can recommend this resort 100%.

Best hotel for families we’ve been to! They have kids club where you can leave kids for hours supervised, child care during meals so parents can have a quiet dinner and loads of activities to entertain them during the day. Plus a gorgeous private beach, heated outdoor pool and good sunny weather during winter time!

Outstanding hotel for families, they have everything you may need for a relaxing family trip. Rooms are comfortable, the selection in the half board gets old after a few days, but everything is fresh and well prepared.

Nice view of this small fort. There is a little office in the middle which I have heard that it sells coffee but it was closed when we drove past. Tip, while there is a no entry sign at the top, that is only for caravans. So with a car only you can drive down to the entrance.

There is parking outside the fort and it is a short distance from Cape St Vincent and Sagres. You can't go inside the fort itself due to erosion but you can walk around the walls and take in views of the coast. The fort itself is a sixteenth century construction, expanded from the earlier buildings damaged by Sir Francis Drake.

Small but has a fantastic view. Make sure to explore behind the walls. There is a small passage going down.

Saw this from the road and decided to investigate, unfortunately the inside was locked up, so we couldn't have a proper look around. We went round the outer wall and followed the path to the lower cliffs, that would be a good place for a picnic, not for the faint hearted.

I beleive this placed is overlooked given the popularity of the end of the world tip, but make sure to give this place a visit as it has stunning views and the climb down to the water is worth your time.

Part of our journey to to westerly most point in portugal we came upon this fort. Amazing is all I can say. A lot of history here for sure.

Really nice worth a look unfortunately when we were there the gates were locked but I did do the scary path down to the sea please be careful very slippery even in good trainers

Oude gedeelte is meer vernieuwd , dus niet echt veel te zien . Maar t uitzicht is dan weer mooi !! Word ook wel t " einde van de wereld " genoemd. Sommige plekken hangen borden dat t gevaarlijk is achter t hekwerk , maar op n paar plekken is er geen hekwerk ! (Translated by Google) Old part is more renovated , so not really much to see . But the view is beautiful!! Also called the "end of the world". Some places hang signs that it is dangerous behind the fence, but in a few places there is no fence!

Vwry nice place. A must see when teaveling to the algarve

Atmospheric church at the far tip of South West Europe. Must have blessed many Portuguese sailors before they sailed to the spice islands.

It's worth the €3 per person, great views and a nice walk around the cliffs.

Called Igreja (church), but actually is a minimally arranged and quiet chapel that is part of the fortress of cape Saint-Vincent (you need to pay 3Eur entrance per person). Ideal for taking a rest or a short prayer. Saint Vincent can be seen on the left side holding a ship and a palm in his hand, Saint Francis on the right side. This building must be a challenge to maintain as the environment is all combined windy, moist and salt.

Awesome experience. The small church, the water views, the history. I recommend to everyone.

Lots of history here in this church. A very quiet and hard to describe atmosphere. A worthwhile experience!
