The best example of ancient life on earth. The cave is full of ancient inscriptions and it’s beautiful to look. Gives us the glimpse of past. The best part is the hike that we have to do to reach the place. It’s almost 1.5 km of steep slope and stairways. Will not recommend to people with heart disease as it will be extremely exhausting to get to the site. It’s the most amazing experience that we can have in our life. The top view from the cave entrance is amazing and beautiful. If you ever visit wayanad, you must see this place.
Had lots of time in SultanBattery and decided on the visit. Plan for 9 AM to 3 PM to really enjoy the trek and place.
1st check point is the parking ticket entry barrier, 40 per car, they give you parking lot number, you need to park there. Was low crowd, so no hassles.
The 1.5 km trek from park to cave is moderate and will need OK fitness. On the way, the way side shops solicit all types of business, we just just smiled and say NO. You need to carry water to drink, knee braces, if you are used to it.
We went slow n steady, reached the ticket place, 20 per person and they check for plastic bottles. You ho up granite steps, then steel steps, well made. The climb is steep in sections, goes up 300 steps into a cave. Just a cave, but what makes this special is the engravings of about 6k years ago.
Local guides appear magically, unofficial, you can pay them nominal fee. They explain well too 👍 Exit is clean too..

Edakkal caves are popular for its historic significance , place is believed to be 6000 years old with paintings and scriptures inside it. There is a medium to difficult trek to reach the caves depending upon person's stamina but I would say it was mostly medium. This place is not suitable for anyone who need wheelchair accessibility and not suitable for young children. From parking to ticket counter there is 1 km trek then there are around 380 steps to the top of the caves. View is breathtaking and steps are breathtaking too. But place is must visit. There are multiple outlets available on way to caves that you can easily find snacks and drinks.
Those who go there can experience a little trucking. You have to climb through rocks and steps to reach the top where the cave is located. The top of it has a very nice view of the Ambalavayal area. In the cave you can see many ancient architecture, drawings and writings. And also you can see the reason for the name of the cave 'Edakkal'.
To get straight to the point. Don't Climb up if you are not up for a Km Trek to the top of the hill in a steep angle. I would not recommend this place for the elderly. The views from the top are good though. I am attaching a few pictures with this. It's a pre-historic site which ignites a thought, as to how and why these carvings were made here.
Many years ago, my family and I had the privilege of visiting the Edakkal Caves, and it was an experience we will never forget. Located in the Western Ghats, these ancient caves are a natural wonder that will leave you awestruck.
As we began our trek to the caves, we were surrounded by lush greenery and the sound of birds chirping. The hike was moderately challenging, but the scenic views of the surrounding hills and valleys made it well worth the effort.
Upon entering the caves, we were struck by the stunning rock formations and ancient carvings that adorned the walls. The caves are estimated to be over 6,000 years old, and the carvings depict scenes from everyday life, including animals, humans, and abstract symbols.
The most impressive aspect of the caves was the natural light that filtered through the cracks and crevices, casting an ethereal glow over the entire area. It was as if nature was putting on a show, and we were the lucky audience.
The views from outside the caves were equally breathtaking, with the rolling hills and valleys stretching out as far as the eye could see. We spent hours exploring the caves, taking in the history and natural beauty of this incredible place.
It is one best heritage caves we have in India, this has history to tell, the carving on the stones on the top of a hill tells a story of early Man , this is before the Indus valley civilization. The way to go on the top of the hill is covered with forest and you would love the chirping of birds and the green atmosphere, please be careful not to take any eatables in hand as there are lots of monkeys and they can snatch it from your hand. Also try to go early as possible , do not go on weekends as there will be a lot crowd and you will not be able to enjoy the whole experience.
Very beautiful caves. Long trek, about 1 km. Steep height. Wear good grip shoes and be energetic. Beautiful scenery. Cave is at top. To go there, climb stone steps. Very crowded area. Very long wait times to buy Cave tickets. Costs 50₹ per head.
The trek was quite tiring but the view at the top was worth it. Not suitable for aged people especially those with disabilities. The people who visit inside make a lot of noise and spoil the ambiance. Better to visit on a weekday when it is less crowded. Also try to visit right before closing hour which is at 4.30pm so that on your way down, you get to hear the symphony of nature that starts at sun down.
The view from the top that this place offers is breathtaking. There is a trek that's needed to reach the top, which is not so simple, but it is definitely worth it. Once you reach the top, this place is a beauty! The caves have thousands of years old carvings.
It is a nice place to visit. The walk from the parking spot to the cave can be difficult for people having walking issues or who have breathing problem. They should plan well and should ascend slowly. There are many shops for taking breaks.
Although the main cave is not that big you should keep your expectations accordingly. The old rock carvings are clearly visible but if you want to understand them better, you can opt for guides who are available inside the caves.
Place is very well maintained. Its quite a steep trek to the caves where we can see some ancient inscriptions. And nothing much other than that. Might be fun when in groups. Absolutely not suitable for old and elderly people. Not suitable during summers.
Nice place. It has bit long trek. Like 5km up and down from the parking lot. First 1-1.5km is through the road around small shops. Then you will reach the ticket counter. 50rs is the entry fee. Then steep steps made up of iron or steel for 1km max. Finally you will see the cave with historical symbols by the early humans.
Visiting Edakkal Caves is interesting, but buying tickets can be a hassle since you can't pay online. Still, the guides are friendly and explain things well. You might spot some cool birds on the way. It's easier to get around now compared to before. But, the shops along the path can be annoying sometimes.Overall, it's worth a visit if you like history and nature.
You need to walk for 900 meters from the parking area. After you reach the entrance of the cave you have to climb a lot! Steps are provided but it’s very steep. By the time you reach the top of the cave you will be dripping with sweat. I suggest that old people not to take this trek as it will be too tiring for them.
It is a good point to visit the stone carvings that are only in 2 places in the world. We got a guide who explained it.

Its initial hike is tough till the ticket counter and then it becomes less easy comparatively. Coming down is easy.
Good place. Hike is steep, so plan accordingly. Casual wear and sport or tracking shoes are must. Carry water bottle. They will tag or stick a sticker on the bottle so that you don't throw the same, which is good for us.
Climb slowly and steadily, it is not impossible to climb or hike to the top..

If you are ready to go uphill 1km on a road and then steps, you will discover a wonderful view and 2 caves. The upper one has lots of ancient engravings from local tribes. Nice place to visit and to see how gifted were our ancestors.
I had an incredible experience climbing before reaching the caves ! There were over 450 steps and a long way before we reached the caves. And once we reached, all our tiredness got vanished on seeing the 3000+ years cave carvings and their essence.
I visited this place years before and now it looks more accessible..they installed proper ladders for the entire inclined rock hill side.
But don't think that it is tooooo accessible, the terrain is not suitable to make more accessible than this. still hard to climb but it's worth it the effort .
I heard that there is a limit for the total counts of tickets like they will not allow more than 2000 tickets total for one day...
A place with an immense amount of historic remains. Eddakal caves, located in Wayanad is a proof of Neolithic settlements that date back to 6000 BCE. There are engravings on the walls that are pre historic in nature and make us to realise how much human hand evolved over time.
A must see place for anyone visiting Wayanad. If you are coming along with senior citizens, it would surely be a struggle as there is just a lot to climb and most of it is extremely steep. But it's worth the climb!
Reaching the main cave was a short but steep trek, followed by stairs. It was quite enjoyable, but one must wear comfortable shoes and clothing. The route throughout has a lot of shops to buy food, drinks, and souvenirs from. the top of the hill gives a nice view of the surrounding area. Would recommend visiting it as early in the morning as possible.
A revitalizing stroll through the natural landscape was undertaken, and due to the prevailing summer conditions, the environment was characterized by elevated temperatures and humidity levels. Additionally, there was a notable influx of tourists, even on a weekday. Upon reaching the summit, a magnificent vista of the surrounding hills unfolded before the observer.
The view from the top is also good. The trek to the top is moderate but is difficult for old people and children so plan accordingly. The cave is not very long only a short bit which was kind of disappointing.
Reaching Edakkal caves is simply completing a trek on its own. Starting at the base of the hill, you need to climb steep slopes to finally reach the base point, from where you climb the rocks to reach the caves. But the experience was mesmerizing. The climb, though, might be challenging for older people and those who are less experienced with going on treks. Still, for regular trekkers, this could be easily done.
From the base, you need to start climbing the stone steps. One needs to, though, be careful as the initial steps are simply cut out of the stone, and there is no support to hold onto except maintaining your own balance. Once you reach a certain level, there are railings to guide you. Post the railing, you must squeeze between rocks to get to the first cave structure. It is mesmerizing to see how big the structure is from the inside compared to the small entrance on the outside. A tiny well-like structure is also made inside, which still has water. After coming out of this cave, from the other end, a steel staircase needs to be used to reach the top.
For many people who are tired, there is also an option of going down using the same staircase from the halfway point, while others can continue climbing. The view from the top, though, is absolutely fantastic and soothing. It shows the entire expanse with lush green forests and hills facing the horizon in the background. Also, the calm wind blowing at the top is soothing. To the left from this viewpoint is another staircase leading to the second and main cave.
Here, across the maximum area, you could see ancient hieroglyphics written. The information board states that this once was the home during the Neolithic period. Various drawings and other symbols are carved onto the stone, and it is interesting to see that these have stood the test of time over several thousand years. At the end of the cave is a slit from which you can see the valley from the top of the mountain.
Once done viewing, you can start climbing back down using the same steel staircase, which takes you directly back to the base from where the climb starts. Overall, the place is a part of ancient human history and, though a slightly difficult trek, gives you the most amazing views.
No worth in visiting this place. Too much stiff slope for walking. Even after ticket counter we still have to walk 300+ steps. It will take almost half a day to cover this place. If you are on family trip you should skip this place. You can visit this place if you are in mood of trekking. There is nothing much left as a cave here just some lines as shown in attached image.
Travelling from Mysore to Waynand - A best place to visit if you have a long day ahead of you before reaching your resort.

Great place for TREKKERS!! Trekking is moderate but from parking you have to walk 2 km inside to reach the main entrance. I heard Jeep service is there .But when I was there could not spot any . The parking slot they give little far asked them to give parking slot 1 or 2 which is near starting point of trekking. Eateries and small shop are available. Beware of monkeys though . Ticket price Rs 50 for cave(it was only cash when I visited ) n for parking Rs 50 . The natural cave is maintained well n great place to get acquainted with our History. Overall nice experience 👍 one more thing " this cave is approximately 20 km away from Waynad city " 🙂
The place was truly amazing! Different parking slots were available, and a nominal fee of 20 rupees for bike parking was required at the entrance. After parking, there's about a kilometer journey to reach the assigned spot. From there, it's a challenging trek to the top where the cave is located – not for the faint-hearted. The entry charges is 50 rupees per person, advised to carry cash. The terrain is tough, and sturdy shoes are advised due to slippery roads. The descent poses a challenge with steep stairs, which could be dangerous.
However, the overall experience is worth it. The cave offers a unique visit, with lots of shops along the way for essentials. The adventure may be tough, but the scenic beauty and the sense of accomplishment make it a great experience.

Nice place for a self boating experience. Everyone visiting wayanad should definitely come here. you can pedal the boat yourself. There is a small aquarium also. Entry fee is there. Also 200Rs for boating.
Nice place to hangout with family. Well maintained lake with pedal boat and row boat facility. Cycling is also available. Entry ticket charges include Rs 30 for adults and Rs 20 for children. Heavy rush during weekends and holidays making road block by heavy vehicles as the road is narrow. Most people are not wearing mask during this pandemic situation. Car parking available for Rs 50 which is 300 metres away from entrance. Try to visit during week days to avoid the rush and enjoy the natural beauty.
A beautiful lake very close to Lakkidi view point.
The USP of this lake is that it is surrounded by lush green forests and hills on three sides giving it a fantastic look. Boating in this lake adds to the charm of the lake.
If one is lucky to get a misty weather then that is just icing on the cake. It also has a small fish aquarium for kids to enjoy.
There are a few shops within the lake boundary and snacks nearby. It also has toilets for public use.
This is a small lake and would need to walk a distance of about 150 to 200 meters.
I visited here during monsoon as the lake was covered with fog and this made it look even better.
The pedal boat here is good for a quick entertainment and this place has some eateries around and a nice place to spend some quality time with your friends and family
Good for first-time tourists. There are ticket counters for admission, boating, and the aquarium. The park play zone, watercraft, and aquarium on display will appeal to children.
The lake is beautiful, though not as maintained but it's in a valley surrounded by the mountains and so the view is mesmerizing. I'd not suggest going here on a weekend as it is very crowded and you won't get to do boating. You can roam around the lake and take in fresh air. Be aware of monkeys as it's a jungle region sorts. They also have stalls but a little overpriced ones.
Pookede lake was near where we stay. So first we visited this lake and it was not weekends unfortunately so it was not crowded much. The ambience was peaceful you can roam around if you don't want to go boating.
I recently visited this lake and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The place offers a nice ambiance with a good view, making it perfect for spending quality time with friends or family. However, I would suggest avoiding weekends as it tends to get too crowded, which can detract from the overall tranquility of the place.
One of the advantages of this lake is that there are plenty of options for food and shopping nearby. So, if you're in the mood for a snack or want to browse through some local items, you won't have to venture far.
Additionally, the lake offers boat rides, which is a great way to explore the surroundings and add some excitement to your visit. It's important to note that the last boat ride usually departs at 5 pm, so make sure you arrive before then to take full advantage of this activity.
If you prefer a leisurely stroll, you'll be delighted to know that there are paths around the lake that allow you to take in the scenery at your own pace. Furthermore, there are designated seating areas where you can relax and enjoy the view.
One thing to keep in mind is that the lake closes at 6 pm, so plan your visit accordingly to ensure you have enough time to fully enjoy the experience.

Lake is situated in a very nice environment with full of greenery. Boating is there. There is option of self peddle boat or a 7seat row boat which they will row for us.
From parking area need to walk quiet a bit of distance. There is a kids play area too.
Some shops are there for shopping and quick bite snacks too.

Entry fee to pookod lake is 40 for adults,30 for childrens,boating is available, extra 200 for boating, there is a mini children's park here, 5 rupees to see the aquarium, nothing to see there. Kids will like it, adults won't like it so much.
This is a small lake and crowded. The lake is located approx 500 m from main road. There is entry fee. Kids may enjoy the place. Other than rowing boat and some small open market there is no attraction noticed.
Loved this place. The atmosphere is awesome. It's not crowded so much when we visited on the morning. The walk through the track around the lake is relaxing. Pedal boats, play area for children, snacks station, traditional store and toilet/wash area are available. The area is maintained well, credits to the cleaning staffs. Vehicle need to be parked on the start point which is around 150m away from the ticket counter. No online payment/booking option available for the entry tickets. Some exotic animals are exhibited on the exit area.
A great place to visit with your family. I have visited during a long public holiday, and there was a huge crowd and I had to wait for almost two hours to get the 4 Seater boat. Parking was also quite challenging I parked my vehicle around two kilometers far from this park due to the long weekend. It is best not to visit this park over the weekend and public holiday to avoid long queues. half of the day will be spent just waiting. worth visit highly recommended.
Nice little lake with a walking track around it. It will take you about 30-40 mins to complete the entire round. Beautiful scenes. Lots of fishes in the lake. Area is filled with monkeys. Boating can be done. The lemon juice at the counter is delicious.
A great place to visit at Wayanad. Access is easy and peaceful atmosphere. The lake is one of the best attractions of this place. The boat ride on the lake is very enjoyable.

Chembra hill situated at Wayanad stands 2100 m above sea level, it is the highest peak in Wayanad district and is one of the best trekking spots. The mountain and the surrounding area is lush green and a treat to nature lovers. I love trekking and this was one of my favourite for many reasons. Hiked the mountain few years back with my father, a sudden decision to travel to Wayanad and on our way we did not know if we could even go up the beautiful mountain. Dad and I haven't hiked together since and so it makes it special. The mountain has exotic and rare species of flora and fauna and tall grass all the way up on the trail. The climb to the top is with the help of guides and since they are from the area, they guided us to the top safely. There weren't many people when we hiked, so it was peaceful and the guides were free to show us around. They showed us the whole of Wayanad from the top and it was mesmerising and beautiful. There is a bit of off roading at first to reach the office where the entry fee has to be paid and to the parking area. There is no road as such and the path has rocks all over, so make sure you drive slow and not damage your vehicle. I am not sure if the road is better now! After you reach the parking area, you need to walk for 15-20 minutes through a tea estate to reach the foothill where the climb begins. The walk is really beautiful and a treat for photographers and nature lovers. Once you reach the foothill, there is a two storey watch tower, with a decent view. From this point we are assigned to a guide and we start the climb. It is a good climb to the top and best way to the top is not to rush yourself, keep a steady pace with frequent breaks. All they way to the top you will see natural springs and do make sure you take water with you and more importantly don't throw plastic bottles that you carry. It is a non smoking area, since forest fires are very common, please avoid smoking. As you start climbing to the top, the view gets better and better. The best spot up top is the heart shaped pond which is one of a kind. Even though we are allowed to hike to the top of chembra, we do not really go to the top most point. We are only allowed to climb up to certain point and you can see that the top point of the chembra peak is even further up and is inaccessible to people as it is dangerous. Near to the lake we spotted an animal skulls too, you can see it in the pictures uploaded. We were told that the pond was used by animals. Even though we forgot to carry water, the guides got us water from a natural stream and it was the best water I ever had. We were asked not to follow the guides to the stream as the path was dangerous and they din't want people to go there. Had a great time with dad, made few new friends and after few hours of peaceful time with nature, enjoying the cool breeze and a few snaps from top we slowly trekked down the mountain and drove back home.

An easy to a moderate trek takes you to the peak which offers amazing views and a beautiful heart shaped pond. Only up to 200 members are allowed per day which helps the management to keep the place tidy and free of trash. If you’re carrying any plastic bottles with you, you’ll have to get it registered at the ticket counter(₹50/bottle) which is refundable. So make sure to collect the refundable deposit by submitting the empty bottles at the counter after getting down from the peak.

Wayanad trip cannot be complete without chembra trek.
You need to reach to forest office to get ticket and limited people are allowed to trek therefore it's important reach early. Forest office is 4-5 km far from the trekking base. Medium difficulty trek, as you reach top view is breathtaking!
Killing view. It's better to Reach there before 4am. Only 200 people will be allowed per day. Once you reach there 1st you need to take a token. And they will start issuing tickets from 7am in the token order. Kindly carry a bottle of water that too sealed by them by giving a caution deposit of 50rs which is fully refundable. Please Don't litter. And don't carry bluetooth speakers or any items that irritates the creatures inside the peak. AND DON'T CARRY ANY ALCOHOL OR SMOKING SUBSTANCES.It is strictly prohibited.
Don't miss any chance to visit this mesmerizing view in our Chembra peak. You'll experience an inner peace after reaching the top. As I got the 1st token it was really exciting to reach there. So that there were no one in the route except the guides in some particular points.
We had an amazing time here! The trekking is not easy, I would say that it is moderate. The place was very clean, no trash along the way. The charges for trekking were ₹1770 for 10 people. That amount is fixed for any number of people upto 10. You will not find any food stalls after this point. Opening time is 7AM. You can also visit the sightseeing point, which is ₹25 and not really tough to reach.

This is a super place!!!!! Very beautiful and green. There is a difficult trek (esp in monsoon season) that can easily take 3 hours.
On crowded days, you really have to plan well for visiting this place. The forest office only allows the first 200 people to visit. They start distributing the token at 5 am and the ticket counter opens at 7. We reached the place at 6 in the morning and could not do the trekking. The next day we reached the place at 3.30am, and we were still 34th in the number. At first, we were doubting if it is really worth waking up so early and going through the struggle to get the ticket, but when we started the trek, it was WORTH IT!!
The lake is very very beautiful and the views are breathtaking. It is so green, so wonderful that you would want to stay there for a long long time. My heart literally lost in the beauty of this place! You could enjoy nature and peace to the fullest here.
Make sure to get back to the base by 3pm though. Also, don't throw any waste into this place, keep it clean to preserve it for ages. They keep a security deposit for every water bottle that you carry with you. There are no food stalls on the way once you start the trek, so carry some light weight snacks with you.
And yes, beware of leeches in the monsoon season. Wear trekking shoes for a comfortable trek.

Only limited number of people allowed per day, 200 people max. Tickets starts at 6.0 am morning, First come first serve basis, plastic bottles you have to pay deposit of 50 rupees each, to take plastic bottles with you, they will paste sticker on it and you have to return after completion of trek which is so good, this is reason no plastic found on hill. Hill view is amazing, worth the trek once you reach top. Lake is cool. Good thing is gaurds are there at specific checkposts while trekking, rules are strict that you will explore only the path not the other areas of hill. Overall experience is very good. Small kids, Above 50 years age it's very difficult to trek. If you come in groups it will be nice, amount is for 10 people it's 1770 rupees.
The peak is visible from almost all parts of Wayanad.
On the way to this peak, you can sight a heart shaped lake, which is said to have never dried up. It is one of the topmost attractions of this peak.

I went trekking to Chembra Peak in Wayanad with my cousins, and it was a fantastic experience. According to the existing rules, only 200 people per day are allowed to enter the forest area for trekking. The ticket cost was comparatively low, and we paid 1700 rupees for five people. They provide tokens to grant tickets starting at 6 AM, with ticket distribution beginning at 7 AM. The forest basement area opens at 7 AM, provided the paths are clear and there are no dangerous conditions like the presence of wild animals, heavy rains etc. We were the first ones to collect the tickets at this time, and we were on time.
Before starting the trek, you can have light snacks from nearby eateries, such as maggi, bread and omelets. There are no snack shops inside the trekking forest, and the area is strictly monitored by forest guards.
There is also a public toilet near the ticket counter that we can use before starting the trek. Inside the forest, there are small water streams that feel very refreshing.
Once we reach the trekking base point, there is a stairway leading to a building with a breathtaking view of the surrounding nature.
During our trek, we encountered a delay as wild elephants blocked our path. We had to wait until the path was clear. There were forest guards stationed at intervals to ensure the safety and count of trekkers. The forest was serene, and the climate was not too hot. Freshwater streams within the forest provided a source of clean drinking water.
The trekking paths were covered with forest grass and rocks, which could be slippery at times. It usually takes 40 to 60 minutes to cover the one-way distance for regular trekkers, but it took us nearly 1 hour and 35 minutes. We met different people along the way, and their supportive and helpful attitude was heartwarming.
Upon reaching the peak, the view was breathtaking. The Chembra Peak welcomed us with a heart-shaped lake, which was truly wonderful. The various shades of clouds and mountain views added to the beauty of the landscape, making us feel refreshed and excited. Chembra Peak is undoubtedly a must-visit destination at least once in a lifetime.
At the top, we also had the pleasure of meeting a family celebrating their child's second birthday with cakes and chocolates, which added to the joy of our experience.
It is a 3km hike. Best time to visit is during the winter months. You can literally be surrounded by clouds. The hike difficulty is moderate-high. The only downside is that the tickets to the place is super exclusive. Only 200 people a day are allowed. Rs. 1760 for a group of 5 plus Rs. 236 for every additional person. The view from the top is breathtaking, the unique part of the treck the lake at the top which is shaped like a heart.

It is one of the best view point surrounded beautiful greenery. Police don’t allow parking here. You need to park your car near Wilton restaurant which is around 500 meters away. It is better to visit in the evening
View point at thamarasery route. Morning site is better here, also you can see some monkeys. Police will not allow parking here, we can clearly see sign boards regarding that. Still many park their vehicle and take photos, feed monkeys.... Etc.
This was one of the high points of our Kerala trip. The view is mesmerising. I was simply awestruck at the natural beauty here. The rolling green hills, the amazing blue sky in the background with thick white clouds. It was a riot of colours so soothing to the eyes and nourishing to the soul.
We parked the car at road side as there is no parking available. There are lots of monkeys here, one of them took our juice box and helped himself. 😄

During my recent visit to Wayanad, I had the opportunity to visit the stunning Lakkidi View Point. Situated amidst the lush green hills of Kerala, this viewpoint offers a mesmerizing panorama.
One of the highlights of Lakkidi View Point is the panoramic view of the hairpin bends on the road leading to Wayanad. It was a sight to behold as vehicles maneuvered through the curves, creating a captivating spectacle against the backdrop of the hills.
The only minor drawback was the limited amenities available at the viewpoint. There were no food or refreshment stalls, so it's advisable to carry snacks and water for a more comfortable experience.

But there is no provision of parking or spending much time. It's just like any other hillside road, best not to wait for too long while parking, it may cause inconvenience to others.

The view is amazing but please ensure that you visit in the right season. The summer heat can give you a sun stroke. Be very careful while stepping out so that you don't get in the way of oncoming vehicles.
It was a wonderful view point with beautiful greenery all around this point. Parking space was difficult from this viewpoint due to limited parking space and the majority of people parking along the road, which is quite risky. You can spend up to maximum half an hour at this point to relax and enjoy the wonderful scenery.

Around half an hour from Padinjathara, this view point is famous for its views of the Hairpin curves in the area. You can see almost entire Calicut from the top. No entry fee, but difficult parking, this view point is right on the road. So take care and beware of monkeys.

This place is so amazing and silent. After a nice walk through forest, we will reach the the waterfall which is located in between some huge rock formations. The best time to visit is morning. Because, we can avoid rush at that time and can feel the place better. Ticket price is ₹59 for adult. What a beautiful place to be. Wayanad is a precious gem 💎
A wonderful waterfall in Waynad in the midst of the forest. The best part of this fall is a pool at the bottom of the fall where one can literally take a bath right under the fall and play in the pool as well.
Excellent place for kids and adults to enjoy and have unlimited fun.
The fall can be reached by walking for about a kilometre downhill in the forest. The last patch of the journey near the fall is rough and could be challenging for kids and senior citizens.
En route there are beautiful tea gardens and a couple of zip lines as well.

First, you'll have to wait in a long line to get your tickets. They only allow 1200 people in per day, so it gets crowded. Once you've got your ticket, you'll need to walk about 1 kilometer to reach the falls. And then there are some stairs you'll have to go down.
But trust me, it's all worth it when you finally arrive. The place is absolutely stunning, and the view is breathtaking. You'll be able to enjoy the natural beauty and feel completely at peace.
Sure, it might take some effort to get there, but the tranquility and serenity make it all worthwhile. So, if you're in need of a break from the busy city, don't hesitate to visit the waterfalls. You won't regret it!
It is like without effort you would not get anything. To see the waterfalls, park your car, vehical and then get ready to walk 2+ Km. Climbing down to see the waterfall is somewhat easy, but climbing back up takes a lot of energy. But the Soochipara Falls is very good when there is a lot of water. You can go down and enjoy the water. Remember to wear shoes as it's gets slippery when it rains.
Well maintained waterfall I have seen. Chargeable tickets , check point before you start the trek . No eatables are allowed at all so please plan accordingly. However before the starting point shops are there.
Maintain silence and stay in group as same is surrounded with thick forest. Try to 1-2 things in hand as walking is more specially returning trip is more tiring.

Best one to spend time with your buddies and family. Calm and clean environment. You need to take the ticket and there is a limit of 1200 tickets per day. It's just 1 to 1.5 km walk to reach the waterfalls and there won't be any shops to purchase water bottles once you enter from the ticket counter. It's better you carry a water bottle and need to bring it back and show it to the security.

One of the best waterfalls I've seen. Important things you should know :
1) Free parking is there only at the top. Before that you'll see 2 parking spaces. But they'll charge ₹40.
2) only 1200 people are allowed to visit per day.
3) The ticket is ₹59 as of today.
4) You have to walk around 700-800meters to reach the fall. The trail is a mix of down hill, uphill and stairs. It might be hard for older people but not impossible.
5) Try to visit on weekdays to avoid the crowd.
The falls was maintained hood and clean with the safety measures and the water was too hood while we visited and the walking distance also less and they have gaurds for the safety purpose and the ticket price also reasonable and they allow only 1200 person a day. So if you arrive early you can enjoy more there.

There is a trek of 40-50 min to reach the place. Keep in mind to not litter the place.

Waterfall is breathtaking and it's a must visit place in wayanad.
Most important point to be noted is number of visitors per day is limited to 1200 on any day.Be mindful and plan this place in first half.
Timings are - 8am to 5pm was bit confused on this.On weekend tickets were sold out by 11:30 am

Best one to spend time with your buddies and family. Calm and clean environment. You need to take the ticket and there is a limit of 1200 tickets per day. It's just 1 to 1.5 km walk to reach the waterfalls and there won't be any shops to purchase water bottles once you enter from the ticket counter. It's better you carry a water bottle and need to bring it back and show it to the security.
The water was really chilly. I had a great head bath. The places were kept very clean. To reach these waterfalls, you'll need to trek for around 1.5 kilometers. There is no food counter near the waterfalls, so make plans accordingly. The changing room is available at half of the water falls. After bathing, you need to walk a little distance to change your dress. Rocks are quite slippery, so walk carefully. There are plenty of parking places available. It is highly recommended that you visit these places.
Great place to take a dip in fresh water. The view is also good. It would be better to visit during working days as the place would be much less crowded. And make sure you are ready to walk a lot. The climb back up after visiting the falls can be quite the task.
Beautiful waterfalls. There is a 1 km trek from the starting point down to the falls. No food items are allowed (will be taken out during checking at the entrance). Do get into the water and enjoy the fresh water bathing near falls. They have changing rooms as well for men and women seperately. Very clean and well maintained place.
Best best best! We were late coz of rains but the view , the water ,the falls were at it's best. Wish we were a bit early to enjoy the falls more but the trek was fun and also worth the time.
One of the best secluded waterfall in wayanad. To reach you have to walk and climb down around 2-3 km , the path is very slippery and need to pass through the forest which is quite mesmerizing . The view at falls is breathtaking . But as we visited the falls during the weekend it was jam packed .
If you are visiting Wayanad, be sure to check out Soochipara Waterfalls! This well-maintained waterfall is a short 1 km downhill walk along a stone path from the parking lot.
Only 1200 visitors are allowed per day, so it's best to start early. Be careful near the falls, as the rocks can be slippery. The path is well-maintained, but it can be a little hard on the knees on the way back, as it is uphill the entire way.
Heard abt this falls and thought we could try this spot . It was fun actually. We had to walk like one kilometer to the falls which was seriously hard cause it was like ups and down . When we reached the falls it was a relief and worth . Unfortunately the falls was closed for straight bath and fun cause of huge waterfall . But the water shattering through the air made us wet and we got down little in water and enjoyed . It was cold and felt energetic. Will recommend this for people who are interested in walking much cause it’s like almost kind of trekking to me .

This was a very fun experience. The waterfall is so much fun but you have to walk quite a few minutes to reach here. The walking makes you so tired but once you reach the waterfall you'll understand that it was all worth it. But beware of leeches all throughout the path. We enjoyed it so much in the falls. The water was so cold and chill.
And don't forget to keep all your belongings in the car itself as you don't want them to be in the water with you. Carry less and enjoy the waterfall experience to the fullest.
There are plenty of places to shop for souvenirs and many things inside and there is a giant swing as well.
Plenty of parking available and please make sure that you reach before the closing time so that you can get more time in the water.
Well maintained waterfall I have seen. Chargeable tickets , check point before you start the trek . No eatables are allowed at all so please plan accordingly. However before the starting point shops are there.
Maintain silence and stay in group as same is surrounded with thick forest. Try to 1-2 things in hand as walking is more specially returning trip is more tiring.
Separate changing rooms are there.

A small waterfall, which you can visit if you are in wayanad. Not too different from other waterfalls and height is also not that much.
The pathway to reach the waterfall is quite steep and has lots of stairs as well, so it's like a very small trek.

Amazing waterfall experience after 1.5kms Trek through forest having stones laid way and steep steps down to the waterfall. Changing rooms available in approximate distance from falls where people could change before/after perfect time in water. Bit slippery so be very careful.

One of the highly visited place in wayanad. It is a waterfall with a good enough hieght, where people can bath, take pictures and play with the water. The water level is shallow making it ideal for all the age group. The entry ticket for this place is Rs. 65 and is not recommended on long weekends due to the high crowd. One can plan the visit here for bath, after which theycan go for zip lining and sky cycling during the time of return. It is give 4 star just becaus3 of high crowd, which resulted in a poor management of drinking water availability during the downhill trek to the waterfall.
This is a good place to mini trek till the waterfall. But you gotta be careful of leeches as I was bitten by 2 of them hence do not wear slippers. Choose shoes instead. Overall it was not very crowded which was good and the whole area was really clean and well maintained!

Early morning ride to catch first jeep. My sonny boy loved it
It's a natural forest, don't expect u will see plenty of wild animals, but it's not. I only saw the deers, monkeys. So, if you don't want to disappoint yourself don't expect too much. Price also very high, not value for money. U enjoy the forest with lots of trees
The forests constitute various forest types like the tropical moist dry deciduous, patches of semi evergreen forests and trees and plants like the bamboo and long spiky bushes of ginger. Plantations of teak, eucalyptus, silver oak and rosewood cover about one third of the sanctuary.
Frequent sightings of elephant herds, deers, big cats, panthers, tigers, langurs, bonnet macaques, bison, sambar deer, malabar squirrels, bears and the rare Slender Loris have all been reported in these forests.
No point going to this safari, very worst and bone jarring and not worth the time and sightings are very less to nil

There is two options to enter the Sanctuary (Bus/Jeap) - Bus 300/person and Jeap is 600/person., to buy tickets took 2hrs* and waited for 2hrs for bus since jeap option was full., later on they took us and showed only Trained Elephants/ Normal Deers/Peacock/Roaster nothing else.... Its was like scam NOT WORTH FOR MONEY.,
This is a plastic free zone. There is only limited jeeps available in evening (almost 20). It starts enterning at 3pm and better to reach on time, otherwise it will be unlucky as jeeps are not available. We can spend too much time in the forest almost (1-1.5 hours). Its very rare to see tigers, elephants and wolves.
It was very nice experience I went with my family and friends this is first time I stayed in forest resort. Food also very good . We went 15th jan to 18th jan.
Nothing exciting. Couldn't see any animal except deer,monkey and peacock. If u go for 1st trip I think it's possible to see any wild animal. But it's k...... get the tickets early morning otherwise the counter us closed by 8.

I was thinking how good its going to be in the beginning after reading about the place in the internet. But after visiting there last week, I felt totally refreshed. It will definitely be worthy if you love nature. Kabini river flows though the island and it's in the jungle you will have to walk in to reach the river flow. The rocks there are slippery, so take care while climbing. There are many forest guards posted nearby for the rescue. Enjoyed the day a lot and the visit here means you will be spending your whole day here so plan wisely on your schedules if you are running out of time. On the way from the Island, there is a tribal museum which is also worth visiting. Must strongly recommend this both places. The staffs are very friendly and they do their works efficiently. Claps for their hardwork🙂👏👏👏
Lemme give a clear description.
Per day the tickets to island are given 575. There are two entry gates you can choose as per your stay and nearest one.
If you want to go to island(on the bamboo raft, they will leave to other side of water)
Reach by 7am to get the tickets and counter will open by 9 am.
1. If you have not been to any nature place like forest, greenary, hill station then it excites you definitely otherwise you don't find anything interesting.
2. The entry fee is 94 rps to island and bamboo rafting is 100 per head
3. After getting entry to island, there will forest and you need to walk for 1km to reach the end destination which is Kabini River.
4. Guards will be there to help you through out the way.
5. You can experience forest feel through the walk and water is not that clean but if you are interested, you can bath also.
6. Dormitory rooms, cloak room and toilets are available. The Snack shops are less but you can get home made chocolate, spices etc.
7. If there is no entry to island after the 575 tickets, go for Bamboo rafting which is worthy.
8. On weekends, the place is very crowded and you don't get tickets easily.
Overall : Good place if you have not seen any forest or greenary places. Can spend atleast half day.

Have about a km to walk. Can take a nice bath in water at the end. But no place to change dress. The ambiance is good. And the place is so calm and peaceful.
I went here in January and it was very dry. Nothing to see on the Island.. there is a bathing spot and river in the end. We can see a lot of trees no animals spotted. around ₹150 rupees per person.
A pure natural place to visit. It has its own beauty in everywhere. Water flowing through the rocks so we can walk through the water and reach the next island. There are many islands are seperated by rivers.
Bamboo river rafting was also there but it is not that much adventures.
Visiting this island was such an amazing experience, and the best part of our Wayanad trip. During peak times, the queue for the ferry to/ fro the island would be huge, hence take the back entrance, and start early in the morning, if you do not want to waste time in the queue.

It's almost 1000 acres of forest land surrounded by the Kabani River. No roads to this island, and it is maintained by the Kerala Forest Department.
As per their own billboards, they claim only 575 persons will be permitted to island daily. Entry is restricted with tickets and they provide bamboo rafter to cross the river.
Walking through the forest island will be a good experience, but during rainy season, they don't operate and no entry for public.

The island is well-maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful. They provide you with all the necessary information and equipment to make your visit comfortable and enjoyable. The only downside is that the island can get a bit crowded during peak tourist season, so it's best to visit early in the morning or during weekdays.
Average place. Not up to the hype. Entry fee is 110rs for a person. Plastic deposit is 20rs they will give after you return the plastics. I have to wait for a bamboo boat. Then once you get into the island then you have to walk like 1-1.5km on one side to reach the stream.
Just a hike of 1 km inside the Forrest, you can enjoy kabini river. Chance of encountering elephants as well. We encountered elephant passing. The tickets are limited to 575 person only. There is an alternative 2nd gate as well you can try if you did not get the tickets at the main entrance.
Kuruvadweep is a popular tourist spot in Wayanad district. The boat ride and island visit are amazing experiences. However, the staff's behavior towards visitors is rude. We booked a 30-minute boat ride with an island visit at a reasonable cost. But they didn't provide the full 30 minutes on the boat and rushed us to leave at 4:30, even though we wanted to stay longer.
It's worth only if u enjoy walking in forest trail. U get to cross a small river in a bamboo raft and then can walk for about an km in forest. One can enjoy in water in the forest, there is a small changing room. Better plan in the morning...

I really like bamboo rafting and I got to the Kuruva dweep through Gate 1 and it's easier to get tickets here than on the other side of the Kuruva dweep.

Good destination for a half-day visit. Can get into the water after a short bamboo raft ride and an easy 800m walk. Spotted elephants on the forest road that leads here.

I am at beach today 25dec23. Reached at 7am. Standing in queue till 9:30am, tickets counter starts at that time. Only limited 575 tickets will be sold, so if you are planning to travel on weekends then don't come after 9am, you will not get ticket.

River drafting is not good, I suggest try banasura Sagar dam, it has speed boat, and different types of boating activities, too famous.
So basically they take you from one side of river to other(small river) and then u need to walk for 2km inside jungle, till you reach at other end of jungle where again river u can see and play in water sometime. Going through jungle is good journey, if ur true nature lover, big trees and locations for photoshoot.
It is a nice place where you can chill out with your friends. The most amazing thing is the ride on the bamboo boat ,

Except bamboo rafting, nothing is available here. All other things are closed. Bamboo rafting is good. You need to book how much time you need to stay during your ticket booking, by default it is 20 mins.

One of the most beautiful temples in Kerala. The route to this place is extremely blessed with natural beauty. If you are lucky, you may spot some wild animals as well.
However, it is not safe to ride through those roads late at night or during early morning. We saw an elephant so close to the road at around 9 pm

It is too far from kalpetta wayanad region, around 1.5 hr journey situated in deep forest routes. Route to this temple is magnificent beautiful forest roads and wild animals will be crossed on road at early morning.
There is Papanasini stream Emanating from the heart of Brahmagiri forest flowing through roots, leaves and flowers of ancient trees and medicinal herbs, Papanasini is a holy mountain stream accessible around 1 km northwest of the temple premises. Pilgrims bathe here as they consider its waters to be sacred with powers to absolve one's sins. Further, the temple offers services to immerse cremation ashes in the sacred mountain stream to be thus carried to Kaveri River and from there to the ocean. This is a part of the last rites.
It's a small and pretty old temple and some of the columns date back to 1000 years. When we went they were renovating it with mostly old type wood works. You will have to climb a few steps to reach the temple and walk towards the right. Shirts and shorts are not allowed inside the temple.
A couple of shops are around the temple selling toys, eatables and crockery. There are a few restaurants too.

Very calm and peaceful place no rush was there during weekdays. Stayed in rooms provided by temple authorities just near the temple itself. Room included a bed bathroom attached and a table no other amenities for rs. 500 for a single room. They also provide you hot water if needed.There are hotels and shops nearby the temple. Thirunelli Temple (also Tirunelli) is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Maha Vishnu on the side of Brahmagiri hill in Kerala, India, near the border with Karnataka state. The temple is at an altitude of about 900m in north Wayanad in a valley surrounded by mountains and beautiful forests. It is 32 km away from Manathavady. Good Climate and beautiful views, Kattikulam to Thirunelli road is a inside the thickest forest .
It is a very old temple of Lrd Maha Vishnu dating back to 8th or 9th century. Is is a very calm and beautiful place surrounded by mountains. Nearest town is Mananthavady which is 33 km from here.
I went to Sree Thirunelli Mahavishnu Kshetram for the second time, now the temple is under renovation works. The temple looked really old and special before, with a strong spiritual vibe. It's next to the big Brahmagiri hills and you get to see a beautiful view.
The temple is well known for the last rites and there's a river for that passing by. The way to the temple is amazing, especially in the early morning when you can see lots of animals. It's a great place for both spirituality and enjoying nature
Nature blessed pilgrimage. Very peaceful place with experiencing the nature and spirituality rituals. Even in weekends are not too rush. The temple constructions are seem to be done hundreds of years ago and now it was reconstructed with Granite rocks due to this reconstruction the olden era views maybe lost.

So to start with, this place is also known as the 'kaasi of the south' . Lord Vishnu s temple is currently under renovation. The temple is attached to a river ( papanashini) where the final rituals of passed away loved ones are done. These rituals can then be done on an annual basis.
If u are new around here. You could still do these rituals for your demised loved ones ( they are basically prayers to ask God to help them rest in peace ). It doesn't cost much ( 70Rs) either .

Great example of bad temple management. For temple renovation donation asking from devotees. What about hundi fund collected till date from the devotees, Government interested to take temple collection fund Not interested in Temple Renovation. If this temple was in Karna taka/TN the government themself may renovated it.

We would arrange two or three jeeps and set out early in the morning from Nadapuram in Kozhikode district. Beautiful place situated inside green lush forest, driving to the place itself is an excitement. temple is a historical place and lot of devotees from different places visit here. on the way to temple you can see lot of wild life. driving in the evening is not suggestible. truly a divine and spiritual place.

There are sub-deities of Ganapathy and Nagam.
I very nice place ofcourse apart from a temple. Hiding in a serene mountain range. Renovation of temple was going on when I visited. I will recommend a must visit place if you are visiting wayanad. If lucky you may come across elephants and deers enroute.

Second most highest peak in wayanad district. (Above 6000 ft from sea level )
The trekking starts from meen mutty waterfall . Tickets cost 2860 rs for 5 persons which includes guide fee also if any extra person with us we must pay 413 rs for each .
After finishing all procedures from ticket counter we can start the trekking with our guide .
( Try to reach the point as early as possible , normally trekking starts @9 am & need to carry enough water and food )

We started @ 10 the trail through shola forest were little difficult due to leaches so taking salt is better to avoid leach bites. Apply little salt powder on leaches when it bites. After the forest the greenish meadows will begin, and we can see the mesmerizing views of bhanasura hills . A hut 🛖 made for resting. From there the trail become straight . At the end the trail split in to two one trail to bhanasura reservoir view and the other to the banasura peak. First go to dam view point and then to the peak .
We summited at the top most point of the peak .
Guide told us that we were the first team reached that point because it was that much difficult. If he lie or not our team is very happy to be there.

Banasura Peak Trekking.
Wayanad is a paradise for trekkers, however one thing that makes Banasura Trek unique is the view of Banasura Dam. The ariel view of dam and its catchment area is stunning.
Kattukunnu is a small peak enroute. Trekkers can enjoy a closer view of the Dam and surroundings here. Once you climb up, this can be seen from a higher altitude.
Other than initial short stretch, the entire trail goes through grasslands.
Beware of leaches, especially in monsoon.
Banasura is one of the highest peaks in wayanad at an altitude of 2000M+.
Carry enough water and snacks.
Don't miss the Meenmutty falls, it's right behind the ticket counter.
Varambatta is the base, Padinjarathara is the nearby town where you can find accommodation, ATMs etc.
We went after the rainy season.
There was greenery all around.
6 kms of one side trek.
Initial 2 km of trek goes through dense forest. It is a little steeper, after that it's easy.

Banasura hills is beautiful Trekking spot one side it's is 7KM Trekking, best time to trek in rainy season. Per head entry fee is around Rs 840/- including guide charges. we need to register and take entry tickets for trekking. Forest office will open at 8:00AM. Carry water bottle and snacks while trekking. Please don't litter.

It is a really beautiful place. We will feel trecking is till "thavala paara" (frog shaped rock), but the trekking starts after that. The mountain itself is beautiful, the view from the mountain is amazing. Trecking finishes at pond encircled by a thick forest. It is a must go place for one who loves trekking. The guide we had was really friendly.

Great place for trekking. There are multiple locations where you can start trekking from. But, the best starting point is from Meenmutti waterfalls, you'll get tickets for trekking and Waterfall entry from the same office. Other entry points are difficult to find. The staffs in the Meenmutti waterfalls entry point are very helpful and like minded. The only problem is that sometimes some guides insist to go fast to complete the trip. I'd recommend everyone to not to rush if there is no disturbance from wild animals

This looks so dam beautiful, the sight from the roads. The roads are good, in order to reach tot he banasura hill or to start to the treking point please proceed to waterfall way and speak to the gorest officials. I have heard they charge like 3500rs for a group of 5. I would recommend to park your vehicle's in the initial entey part, the road is bit slant and it poses a challenge if a biginner is driving. Even you can visit waterfall from the same point.

The road towards the parking area is closed for work. Otherwise the approach road is very narrow and the parking area is not so big.
The view towards the place is beautiful with tea plantations on both sides.
There is another view point close to this place.
Best time to visit would be during or immediately after monsoon.

The falls is located almost 40 km away from the central Wayanad so the travel time to the falls is too long but it's still worth it. A must visit if possible. Coming to the waterfall, it was the best waterfall I have ever seen. Clean water, beautiful rocks to sit and enjoy nature.
It has a small pool-like structure where you can dive ( be cautious, check for rocks beneath before you go for it) and have a blissful bath. Try to visit early in the morning to avoid crowds. This place gets heavily crowded believe me😅

It's a wonderful medium sized waterfall in the middle of reserve forest. Entry for visitors is 9am to 4pm. Ticket charge is 50 rupees. The toilet facilities at spot is not functioning currently. You will be able to see beautiful tea and coffee plantation on your way.

It's one of the beautiful and well maintained waterfall and we visited during July and the flow of water was too high and the beauty of water fall was mesmerizing and stunning. It's must visit waterfall if you are visiting waynad. And we can get into water and enjoy playing too!

A very rare remains of ancient Jaina tradition in Kerala. Its a Jewel of importance as far as a study of vanished religious culture. Also os a sign to show how negligence we the successors of a glorious tredition. Now its a mere remains of those stone as there is no idols seen here. This place deserves more than 5 stars!!
Visited 2nd time in 3 months and its still worth it. Water level is definitely lower than last time(February) but yet remains the only waterfall open this peak summer. Place is well maintained. Be there sharp at 8:50-8:55, grab your entry tickets at 9 and enjoy the empty place to yourself for at least next 20-30 mins.
A beautiful pictureous waterfalls. A great view and lovely place to take bath. U can enjoy both the river send falls in one place. A nice hangout with the family 👪. Hats off to the staffs working there not a single trash on the water or on the way to falls 😀 👍
The Kanthanpara waterfall is one of the most unique waterfalls out of all those that I have visited across the country. There is an entry ticket to the waterfall and plenty of parking space to park your vehicle. Once inside, through the main gate, you will see the stream of water flowing to the end from where it falls down from the cliff.
However, to reach the actual waterfall, you must walk some distance and climb down a flight of stairs. Post this, there are 3 levels to the fall. One is a kind of viewing deck, which is where the steps end and is for people who wish to see the waterfalls from a distance without going near the fall. The second level is when you must balance yourself and walk along the rocks. Ropes are tied so you can use them to support and climb down the rocks. A pool-like structure was created where the falls can be experienced. You can even go underneath the waterfall to feel that incredible experience. Tons of people were bathing and enjoying the fall.
The third level is a bit below and is more of a bigger pond where the water finally flows. Here, too, there was a massive crowd just lazily sitting in the water. There were families with kids, and few had even brought inflatable tubes with them for the kids. But the stagnant water was unclear and seemed muddy from the above. Also, the outlet to the water seems very slow, leading to an accumulation of mud. Thus, this could be an issue, and some cleaning is needed in this area.
The surrounding area is fantastic, though. It is covered in hills on all 3 sides with lush green forest growing on the hills. The water, despite being scorching summer, was cool enough. Overall, this is a fantastic place. The waterfall, the area created, and the lush green hills make the area look mesmerizing.
One of the must visit tourist place in wayanad. The waterfall is so beautiful to watch . You have to take ticket to enter . ₹40 for adults and ₹20 for children. Best place to hangout with family and friends .Well maintained walkway . side rails are installed for safety. Enough parking space.

I recently visited a smaller waterfall that, while not suitable for bathing, offered a charming and serene experience. This petite waterfall may not be a grand spectacle, but it has its own unique charm.
Easy access and good parking. Can be crowded on weekends. The waterfall itself (approx 30m height) flows gracefully and has a peaceful feel to it.
Be careful with the slippery rocks near the base and watch the signages for the depth of water when swimming. One place was shown as 10m deep!

It was fun spending time in the falls. We weren't planning to take Dip but on seeing it, couldn't resist. Definitely worth a visit to get refreshed and swim.
There was no wait time, we reached a little early before noon and left during noon probably around 1.30. That's when we saw a lot of people coming in.

A scenic and beautiful waterfall, with many native fishes in its water. Swimming at the bottom of the fall should not be allowed, it gives a bad impression when ppl bath n swim in shorts.
Worth visiting this waterfall. Not advisable to get into the water as the flow is heavy, but you can still get very close to the stream. The stones are slippery, so better to go barefoot and enjoy immersing your foot into the cold water.
This beautiful cascading waterfall is easily accessible by a short walk.
There are changing rooms if you want to take a dip in the water.
The toilets are fairly clean.

It is a well maintained place with guards on duty.we can enter the waterfalls and have a great time in water but have to be very carefull as the rocks are slippery. Very beautiful place and along the trekking path, there are chairs if you want to take some rest.
Enjoyed a lot, must visit place in wayanad. During summer must visit early in the morning at 9am or before 11am or else it will get crowded. We can go by our car no need to hire any zeep, the waterfall is just 100 meters from the parking lot.

A good hidden gem of wayanad. It is a small but clean waterfall which becomes even better during and after the rainy season. One has to trek to reach here, there are various camps around this place which includes this visit in their itenerary. It is a calm place with very less crowd that allows people to enjoy and sooth themself. One has to be careful due to the slippery terrain caused by the algal growth and hence 4 star but if the situation permits one should definetly visit this fall.
A beautiful waterfall at Wayanad. I have visited this waterfall many times before and it was much better then. They have developed the place now with proper railings and parking lot, but earlier we could see the fall from up close and even walk through the bamboo canopy. There were people playing in the water here. Beware of the monkeys.

Small walk almost 100ms and the trek towards waterfall. Small river stream area incase kids want to take a dip and play in water.

The waterfall area is a decent place to visit but dirty rocks near to the waterfall. I didn't feel like taking a dip seeing all the people. And also there seems to be some kind of dung near the center rocks as my friend kept their hand on the rocks whilst manuvering themselves and it smelled awful later.

It's one of the most beautiful places for weekend gateway near Bangalore. Very pretty and peaceful. You even get to see different kinds birds . You can try boating and coracle boat. Karnataka govt has camp site event many private resorts are there on the bank of the river. We saw otter animal which is very rare to find out. It was very serene atmosphere.
Beautiful ride along State highway 33 overseeing Kibana river and its backwaters. Lake is clearly visible from road from various angles. Usually full of clouds, it gives amazing views. Be careful of the rains as there are hardly any shades for long distance. Mornings are usually dry.
A wonderful water way which carries a lot of traditional and cultural relics. The drive along the river is the best to opt for a days drive. The net work of roads around the place is seriously confusing. Rely on local people for directions. Chekadi is the location

The viewpoint is closed. Forest officials would not allow anyone to enter the viewpoint. But you could probably ask permission from the owner of some surrounding coffee plantation to see the view.
The drive to Neelimala view point is very beautiful with lush greenery. Though we couldn’t reach there on top as it was closed because of national holiday we liked the drive.

The road is very steep, directions are not there and the view point has no safety barricades (since it's officially closed). But oh boy! whatta view...
Neelimala Viewpoint offers a stunning view of the lush green natural vegetation and the breathtaking Meenmutti waterfalls. Trekking through the exciting misty trails and soaking in the fresh air to reach the point is a famous activity here.
Good view point at the area.but the forest department has restricted the entry to the hill top as there has chance of animal attack.it would be better if you go there with the support of some locals there.the best time to visit is evening.the way to there is a steep slope so be aware when taking a vehicle with full load it would be hard to get there if so.there's no board signs and indications to find way from the main road to the location.be safe!

This looks very good adventure but unfortunately closed for public 24*7.

I don't think this place is available for tourists anymore. It comes under forest area. Spoke to a forest officer to let us in. He was kind enough 😀. The view is breathtaking. If you get a chance don't miss it. Don't go without the permission u will be screwed if u get caught... It's just 100 metres walk from an estate.. u can park your bikes there. Don't take your car. It's almost about 2kms of pure uphill drive. And a very small road
Due to Rain the View point is inaccessible in vehicle, its better to leave four wheeler much behind as the road is very narrow allowing only 1 vehicle to pass. High chances of you getting stuck, Two wheeler's can go till last point. Breath taking View of waterfall and Complete Hil Range.

The best time for an excellent view is the time after a summer rain.
You can enjoy the cloud bed in the morning but there is some risk factors for that because the wildlife presence in the morning.
Be aware of the wildlife especially bison and big cats in the early mornings and late evenings

The hill is 32 kilometers away from the district headquarters of Kalpetta. The hill lies 1740 m above sea level. Papanasini River flows from Brahmagiri hill and irrigates the area. This river is believed to have the capacity to wash away all sins as the word 'papa' means sin and 'nashini' means destroy in Malayalam.te, India.

Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary is a nature loverês and bird watcherês paradise. They have a stunning population of birds thriving in the natural habitat preserved within the sanctuary. The sanctuary is a favourite amongst campers as well. Some rare species of birds and plants are also found here. Other than the well preserved natural terrain of the sanctuary, there are also some rock cut caves that one can explore.
Pakshipathalam in Wayanad district of Kerala, is located 7 km northeast of Thirunelli , which is about 32 km from Mananthavady, and about 66 km from Kalpetta. This is a abode of birds situated inside Kerala boundary. Pakshipathalam is a deep cave network where you can spot different bird species. You need to be careful while moving inside cave, because of the rocks. It is a good trekking through thick forest, grass land and water channel. Naxalites stayed in these caves during 1970s to avoid police. started our trek near Forest inspection bungalow Thirunelli. The first stopping point is near a watch tower on top of the mountain. This point can be seen from Thirunelli Mahavishnu Temple. You can see elephant herds on the grass land while moving towards Pakshipathalam. You need to pack your lunch since it is a day long trek. We were delayed while returning because one of the member had a health issue. Try to reach back before the sunset. Mix tobacco powder with oil and apply on the leg. This will reduce leach bite.

There is a watchtower in between the beginning and destination.
At the destination there is a Huge rock/cave which was said to be used by saints and sages during old times for tapas and pooja.
You can see elephants and hornbills in huge numbers along the way.

This is the best place for trekking. Apart from that, it is also a habitat of a number of birds. The forests and the steep hills make it an ideal place to enjoy trekking. Must visit place in wayanad.
Wayanad is one stop address for every trekker. One such spot in Wayanad that has captured the mindset of every tracker, ornithologists and nature lovers is the Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary. Here virgin forests, streams and steep hills together offer challenging avenues for trekking. 3 hours trekking is probably the best way to traverse through the rustic landscapes of the bird sanctuary. Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary is best known for the presence of `Edible Nest Swift light.' It is believed that the nest is made of solidified saliva and is used to make bird's nest soup.
Inside the bird sanctuary, tourists can see a flock of birds chirping and guarding the sky, multiple herbs and trees that possess medicinal properties, and orchid plantation. Within the boundary of the bird sanctuary, there is a temple and watchtower to help tourists navigate their way. It will be advisable to carry equipment for bird watching expedition, and hire a tourist guide for an over-night camping.
