The first time I came to lake Llanquihue 40 years ago, it was end of summer and the volcano Osorno that is the icon of lake and surrounding towns, was covered in snow and glaciers almost to the bottom. Sadly this year there is almost no snow, only a small patch on the south side. The global warming is melting most of the mountain glaciers.

I was So impressed. Very beautiful area of Puerto Varas. Lake Llanquihue is the second largest lake in Chile... It's great for walks and relaxing and stunning scenario for photography. There's a view to the amazing Osorno Volcano too. I recommend going there for a day or two. You can visit the city of Frutillar in the same day, is close by and gorgeous too.

Amazing lake. It is peaceful, with breathtaking views. Its water temperature allows you to swim and the shallow depth, to be sure of children's safety. Sorrounded by two volcanoes, you can take incredible pictures at any time of day. Another important feature is that the northern road has many miles of cycle road.

Special place to see how different minds think. A bit of hoarder, a bit of creative, a bit of homeless style. One of a kind, definitely. Places like these give inspiration. Went with a 4 year old. She found it exciting. On a weekend was super busy.

A very interesting place we stumbled upon while walking on the coastline. The museum holds lots of antiques and items that were used commonly in past years, 60-70 or so. It’s a rather impressive display and Pablo (the owner, yes, he’s there and still making art) designed the museum based on the things he liked, such as the Cockoo Clock or the ship outside. It was really an interesting tall with him! Super worth a visit, and it’s free admission with just requesting a voluntary donation for admittance.

The view to the city of puerto varas is not great because the hill is full of trees that hide the city. I really recommend going to this hill for no more than 30 minutes because it has limited acces because it is a mountain bike trail but still you can walk around through the trees.

Quiet place. Plenty of trees. Great for a quiet walk just to enjoy the atmosphere and breeze. There’s an access for vehicle as well as pedestrians. You’ll find different paths to walk by. A very good choice if you happen to be avoiding sun and heat at summer. No entrance fee. But you can leave a tip.

This is an excellent small German museum with a very large collection of art, pictures, farm equipment, furniture, musical instruments and belongings of the early German settlers of this town. The owner who is a direct descendant was very gracious and gave us an in depth tour. We highly recommend this museum.

Local milk farmers, over 100 years in town doing milk, cheese and manjar, they have a non typical breed of cattle, jersey cows, smaller, less productive in milk, but not in dairy products. They offer you they products, mozzarella cheese, ricotta, manjar, tours within the farm, pick up harvesting of strawberries, a sweet deal for kids mainly, but also fun and informative for grown up, did I mentioned the ice cream? No? Well give it a try too, we did everything and have a great time there

Incredible place! I really wish I had known sooner about this place and not on our last day. The signs on the road need more information regarding there being a café and gelateria here. All from local producers; you can eat quiches and pizzas, cakes and ice cream and drink coffee. All the milk products utilize the milk from the cows in the farm. The barn is converted into seating areas and there is also a small kids park in the back. If interested, tours are also offered for a fee. Everyone was really friendly and the ice cream was incredible. Everything looked very tasty. Dulce de Leche from the farm is also sold here. Well worth a visit at any time of the day.

Have kids? This is a place to go yes or yes! At 11:30 or the afternoon visit around 15:00. Will learn about the production of milk, cheese and "manjar". The key card power switch was broken after fighting with it for a few minutes and was about to go down tell the staff, I found the breaker box and all the breakers were off. Was a little worried that there may have been an electrical problem for someone to have turned off all the breakers. Extraordinary place run by extraordinary people! It was really like visiting a friends home in the country. The forest walk was very informative, conducted by a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable Bruno, and the boat ride through the sunken forest was a scene out of a fairy tale. The owner is a very passionate man, with many skills! The lunch was really good too, and they were happy to accommodate our dietary requests (we informed in advance). If you like connecting with nature, and feel for making a change, you will love this place.
