It was a bit underwhelming.. It's beautiful and everything, but there's no guidance or proper trail, and it feels like simply walking on a dry river (while enjoying the views, granted) but you can't help but get bored after like 30 minutes

And I thought southwest USA was unique! Northwest Argentina in general, and this Quebrada in particular, are just as spectacular, colorful and breathtaking. I so wish I had devoted more time to explore it. Do yourself a favor and spend time here. If you're pressed for time, you can skip the Garganta del Diablo and El anfiteatro, way too touristy, and go backcountry. I recommend spending at least 3 days here.

Awesome tour with a nice and funny guide.

One hundred meters from the road a small ravine opens up into a tremendous view of the imposing mountains 🏔 You can make your own path and walk for hours or pick a few of the surrounding small hills and scramble to that top. Lovely atmosphere. The immensity of it all is astounding.

Beautiful rock formation. It's a popular tourist attraction so getting that "perfect shot" can be quite difficult because how many people visit the place during the day. You can go further inside after climbing a very sloping and slide-like rock wall.

5 stars and it is only comparable to the nearby amphitheater. You can get easily in your road from Salta to Cafayate. There is a parking lot and you don’t need to pay entrance fee. From every angle is an amazing place. If you feel ready you can climb a little to avoid the crowded area.

This place is probably what the part of the move "Inception" was inspired by because when you see this it's literally like reality has defied gravity and is shifting. You must absolutely hike to the finish, which means taking a good 10 minutes with a friend to climb up. Watch those that go before you and be safe. The sign that says "NO CLIMBING" and in smaller letters "with FLIP FLOPS." This is for a reason: there's some spots where you only have small ledges to climb up or down on. SPECIAL NOTE: We were told by a gentlemen that there is a cave on the right hand side (which we didn't see but we also didn't look further than where we landed). Very detailed and poetic descriptions of winemaking in this part of Argentina. They take a lot of pride in their winemaking process, rightfully so because the wines here are incredible! After the interactive museum (which is very high tech!), please relax and have a drink and snack at the bar. Empanadas are divine and the employees are wonderful, very personable and cheerful, and happy to have people here. We felt very welcome, even if we were strangely ordering food, wine and coffee at 17h 😂 (still on American time with our meals and everywhere else was closed haha). Overall learned so much more about the winemaking process, unique terrain in the north of Argentina. Muchisimas gracias!

We have visited many wine museums around the world, and this one stands out. Very detailed description of everything surrounding the vines and the wines, especially liked the discussion around atmospheric conditions in the region, and the impact on water quality the soil. Highly recommended.

Amazing empanadas made on the spot (dough included) and cooked on a wood oven. Incredible wine serbed by people who know about wine. Great prices.

Exceeded my expectations, though they were low for a small-town museum. It actually had good audio-video presentations as well as atmospheric sounds and lighting effects. I learned quite a few things about the region through sheer repetition and hammering through a few peculiar facts about this superb wine valley.

Very well thought out self-guide museum with information about the local wine and the history of the region. At the end there is an excellent shop featuring a huge selection of wines from several well known area Bodegas, and very reasonably priced too! You don't need to pay the 60 pesos entry fee (cheap!) just to visit the wine store. A few minutes walk from the main square.

The first part is ok, not super interesting, but visually interesting. The second part telling the origin of wine in the area is much more interesting. A somewhat sterile exhibition overall, you can do it if you have extra time.

The Amphitheatre is another nice presentation what nature can do. It's located just few hundred meters away from more popular Gargante del Diablo which we visited couple minutes before, so we stayed here less then there. Plus here were more people, so to be honest I liked Gargante more. If you are with younger kids then maybe this is better place for them to see stunning red rocks which were formed millions years ago in the past. Entrance is free...

Great spot to stop at and enjoy on the way between Chicoana and Cafayete.

For being so close to the road, this is an amazing spot to stop the car -- GO check out it out. The natural occurrences of wind and water have made this spot what it is -- a "chiminea" or chimney. A term I discovered when visiting Talamapaya National Park. The local vendors line the pathway to the center and if you're lucky, there's a flutist playing a tune.

Amazing formation. The road inside is pretty straightforward so there are no weird climbs. Elderly or people with kids can easily enjoy the inside to it's fullest.

Impressive scale and curvature of this rock formation. The flute players music reverberated well and without an echo (felt this was "cherry on top" kind of thing as we walked up to the final part to take a photo). Talk to the local vendors. We stopped and chatted in particular with one girl who sells earrings there. Her mom makes them by hand, even incorporating the metal part of the earring in some designs. I ended up buying a pair for $2,000 pesos or $7 USD (these could easily have been $25+ anywhere in the USA).

Clean park but not happy with the city parking staff. We parked to enjoy the afternoon and approached by a parking attendant which sold us a parking permit. We then got approached 1 hour later and told that the permit that we bought was sold to us by a bandito that was dressed in exact same attire and had a official receipt/permit book but not employed by the town to do so. They wanted us to either buy again (even though ours was an official one) or get towed by police. Not a great practice from this community. The police showed up and said they would get our money back because they know who the person is but they never did. Now I’m not sure who the real bandito’s are.

Nice, beautiful canyon with some underwhelming waterfalls. Could be missed tough as there are more spectaculair sights in this part of Argentina. It involves lots of climbing, but not too difficult. The local community demands that you hire a guide to visit. There are two options: 1 hour return hike to the first 3 (very small) waterfalls ($1000 per person) or a 3,5 hour return hike to all 7 waterfalls ($2000 per person). We took the 1 hour hike, but at the 3rd waterfall we were given the opportunity to continue independently, which we did for another half hour. We found that it is not difficult without a guide, as you can't loose you way in the canyon, but it took us more time to find the right way to continue up and down the canyon (e.g. where to climb up safely, where to cross the river)!so a guide is useful.

It’s a pretty hike but your have to pay 2500$ for the short hike and 4500$ for the long hike per person. There is even a policeman that will check if you have a guide. The hike would be doable on your own if you have some experience hiking. I don’t like being forced to have a guide, and it’s pretty but a bit underwhelming. The waterfalls are relatively small.

You do NOT need a guide. The guides will try to tell you that you do, but we parked around to the right where there was a school and two police officers. The police confirmed that there is no permit. As soon as I told the fake guides that the cops said I didn't need them, they left me alone. This hike is beautiful, but hard. I hike all over the world and this route is poorly marked with slippery rocks. It was a ton of fun and we loved it, but you need to be an adventurer. Otherwise, pay the 1000 pesos for a guide. That said, I highly recommend this hike!

We wanted to do a hike here before going to Finca las Nubes. Arriving at the parking spot it was explained that it is mandatory to take a guide due to “safety reasons”. They charge an rather excessive amount of money (2500 for 1.5hrs or 4500 for 3.5hrs) for a hike you can probably do yourself. I survived a lot hikes in the Andes, so I think I’ll survive this hike as well. We just walked back, crossed the river and walked to the other side of the river to the first quite underwhelming waterfall. Mountain views are stunning and you’ll pass a small bodega too

Worth it. The waterfalls are big. Do all 7. They were charging $10,000 pp when we went and it would have been impossible without the guide who was very sweet.

An amazing place and great walk. Some local guides are waiting for tourists and saying it is "mandatory" to have a guide. Fake news. And quiet expensive (5€ for an hour). But having an offline map and a good intuition of "where to cross the river and which way to go" is better.

Really a shame that when we arrived we were asked to pay 5000 pesos to enter with a guide, and not permitted without… because you might get lost, well if you put up a few signs there wouldn’t be that problem…

We were very excited to visit the place. Unfortunately we were not allowed to walk the trail by ourselves. We were asked quite aggressively to get a guide and pay 2500 Pesos to visit 3/7 water falls or 4500 Pesos to see all 7. Prices were per person! A police officer was also present. Awesome walk, would suggest the large loop if you have good fitness. Is a great landscape with some fun rock scrambling. $4500 pp for a guide, easily accessible by taxi from town $1200. Head to the vineyard next door for lunch after a fun morning.

Amazing hike with stunning views and a tough path if you do the full hike. There are only 4 waterfalls at the moment as there was heavy rockfall which is blocking 3 waterfalls, this also made the path tougher due to rock blockages, and there was a good bit of rock climbing. Taking away 2 stars due to the aggressive guides at the start that insist you need a guide which is 6000 per person. We negotiated this down to 4000 for 4 people but then during the hike the guide said he would not bring us to the last and biggest waterfall unless we paid the full price. It would have been very difficult to do the hike without a guide but their aggressive attitude is very unnecessary.

We loved the trek to the 7 waterfalls last week and would recommend this for the more adventurous. We paid 10000 argentinian pesos for entry and a spanish speaking guide from the local community (roughly 10 usd per person) and think it was well worth what we paid. We dont think we would have been able to figure out the best route without one. Our guide was friendly and knowledgable, he spoke slowly and clearly so that we could understand him with our limited spanish. Once you pass the fourth waterfall some minor rock climbing is involved. Our guide helped us as needed with the rocks and river crossings.

Unofficial guides meet you at the entrance & are quite aggressive not allowing you to enter the park without a guide. We completed the 7 waterfall tour and it was challenging, there was recent rock fall in the area making it more difficult. Although the guides are unofficial and charging an entry fee of ~6,000 pesos per person, I’d highly recommend a guide.

We were expecting to learn more about their organic wine production and only got a tasting of 5 premium wines for $2.200 without much info on the wines themselves except their alcohol content and ageing. The tasting was finished in less than 10minutes and we were told we could enjoy our last sip in the garden. The garden is beautiful though. Without the tour, not sure if it’s worth the visit. Maybe they only bother providing the tour and all the information to bigger groups. Definitely one of the most underwhelming wineries I’ve ever visited.

Place is nice and small, we did not get a tour, but paid 500 pesos and tasted 5 wines, 4 reds and 1 Torrontes. We were in and out in 6 minutes.

Terrible expirience with their retorno restaurant in the courtyard. We passed by sat 2.4. and asked for reservation the day after. Instead of managing it directly we were given a qr code. So the code let to a whatsapp number. I requested reservation and got a „ok“ reply. When we appeared at 7 pm the waiter had to call somebody to recognise us in the reservation list. since the restaurant was empty and looked not set up for dinner already we told the waiter we will return a hour later. We returned at 8 pm the restaurant was still empty but tables had dinner set up. No we were told the restaurant is fully booked with a group and we could only get s outdide table and the only food available for us is empanadas. So what ??? This was not only disappointing from the beginning, i“d say the way the manage reservation and communication skills of front staff is a disaster.

Great small Bodega. We had a great dinner, after which we did the tour and degustation. Normally, guided tours are each hour, bit this can differ. So be aware of that. Nonetheless, we had a great tour with a great guide! Recommended!

We arrived mid-day and asked for a tasting without a reservation (as their website indicated no reservation was needed). The staff were visibly disappointed we didn't want a more expensive tour. We were told to wait outside on a bench and that we could do a brief tour shortly. 45 minutes later, without any update or indication the staff was aware we were still waiting, we decided to leave.

Well worth a visit! The guided tour was informative and interesting and the place itself has old world feel with good wine ( at the tasting the white was not up to the mark in my opinion the red was much better!)

I found the explanation of the wine making process quite informative. Good job of the presenter. Next time I am in town, I would like to do a more indepth tasting.

Their white wine is very dry, I like it a lot on the tasting and looking forward having more. Their Malbec came out of the fridge, very difficult to actually taste it, especially as their own bottle suggest 16 degrees. Wish they had somewhere we could sit down and enjoy tasting their wines

Beatiful setting to try different local wines

I have given them one star for the view. We reserved a table for 2 at 12:30 and decided to do the hour walk up the hill. Once we arrived we were greeted told we could sit on any table. The options were a table in the sun (right on the pic), a bench that you can slide off of (left on the pic) and decided to then go for some of the lounge chairs in the shade. The tables for 4 had a tablecloth, none of the 2s were made up but we found out later this was apparently their style. Not having calculated for the sun we immediately ordered a bottle of water (they only have .5 ltr plastic (there goes the sustainable wine award) but that took forever to arrive. In a meanwhile someone else came again to ask if we knew what we wanted to eat. Needed another bottle of water to get settled we got again pressed to order lunch. My idea of visiting a bodega is for me to get to know the culture of the wine and to try the many variations to see which one I would like for future purchases. Here they have a 500 peso tour to taste 3 wines (which was at 14:00 and even though expressing interest no one bothered to tell us it started) but when you want food you can buy a glass for 350 or bottle for 850. The waitress was also not able to suggest a wine with the food, she knew "dulce, seco, blanco, rojo". She could not offer us to try any of the wine or could not suggest what wine to have with what lunch. Food came fast which, on the lounge tables, was terrible to consume as the tables are way too low compared to the chairs. There is ample space to sit in general but lacking tables and chairs in the shade, which for the prices charged is just a rip-off. Getting one of the waiters' attention seemed impossible. Won't recommend and won't buy any of their wine. Better invest in some shade, tables and chairs and have tables ready for reservations. When then not getting bodega prices at a bodega I would assume service and place impeccable, and this is far from that, except for the view!

The best experience in Wineries in Cafayate, because of Luiz, the enologist! The winery is located at the begging of the hill, with a wonderful view. Place is simple but works perfectly. The wines are pretty good and not expensive, but Luiz who conducted the visit and tastings is the soul Of the place: we can feel his feelings for the wines and his habilita to make a customer centric experience.

We stayed today for a glas of wine and a snack at Finca Las Nubes. We deeply hope that the staff had a bad day but the service was terrible. Our feeling was like second class people because we boodek no wine tour. The waitress was very unfriendly. Even 80% of all offered placed were not occupied we had to sit in worst place possible. No intention to communicate that the other places are booked and we can stay there only for limited time ( which would have been absolutely okay for us ). By end of day location very good but staff terrible. Hope only daily impression.

Very atmospheric finca situated at the foothills of rugged mountains overlooking Cafayate. We had coffee, a 60min wine tour and lunch here. It was awesome. The wine tour guide was very interactive, explained a lot, let you taste many different wines. Lunch afterwards was delicious and quickly served. Thank you so much!

The visit itself started out great. We booked the wine tour. The guide had good information and was clearly very passionate about the company. The tour lasted 15 minutes. Afterwards we had a tasting of four different wines (3 white/1 red). We where offered an other glass of the wine we liked the most. But when we walked out of the official tasting, we tried to order some wine, they gave us the menu and when we were ready to order they said they didn't serve drinks anymore. We still had 25 min to go before they closed. We booked the tour of 17.00h. It's a shame they didn't tell us we wouldn't have any time left after the tour to enjoy the scenery and the wines.

Good views and good wine. But I waited for two and a half hours to get something to drink. I didn’t really mind it whilst reading and enjoys the views until it got busy and I was seemingly deliberately ignored. Don’t come here expecting good service.

Beautiful vineyard and incredible surrounding views. The tour itself is short but interesting and is very reasonably priced. We spent the afternoon relaxing in the sun with a gorgeous cheeseboard. Doesn’t get better than this🍷🫒 the staff helped call a taxi back to the town for us

THEY ACTUALLY CLOSE EARLIER They didn’t answer their phone so I couldn’t make a reservation. I only arrived in Cafayate in the afternoon and wanted to grab a glass of wine at the Finca. It states they close at 18h but I arrived at 17.20 and there was no service anymore... A pity because the view is very nice! I could however still buy a bottle in the store, so at least there’s that.

My husband and I had a lovely afternoon at Finca Las Nubes. We got a table in the shade with an incredible view. We ordered a bottle of wine to share and some food, all of which was very good. The service was responsive and the food came out promptly. I didn’t feel rushed at all and we were able to linger over our bottle and enjoy the day.

We went there at lunch time without prior reservation. It turned out that we could just sit down and have lunch and also have some of their wine by the glass. Therefore, we did not do their tour or tasting, but the lunch was great and the scenery very beautiful. Be prepared that the road going there is gravel and a bit rough but it‘s worth coming out of the city to this remote winery.

Enjoyed the winery tour with our bilingual guide. Beautiful winery and had a tasting of Torrontes and Cabernet Sauvignon at the end of the tour. Otherwise, tastings were by the glass and quite expensive! A glass of their higher end lines would have cost 180ARS!

Beautiful experience here all around. We arrived early, with 15 minutes before the wine tasting was to begin so we could check out the area and take a couple of photos. When we arrived back and asked when the tour would be starting (10 minutes late) the host said she was leading it and she was almost ready. The tour was super informative and the guide herself was sweet and answered all of the questions and had a love for wine that you could see. The wine tasting itself was great -- loved the experience of sharing with other individuals. We chose the higher altitude wine tasting (the more expensive one) and appreciate our choice. Then we went horseback riding.

If you like wine, DON‘T GO HERE! Let me be straight- the bodega is a beautiful place, and it‘s very well kept. The Corona measures make you feel safe. The staff is friendly. The tour is very thorough and professional, but after doing a couple wine tastings in Mendoza and Cafayate, I expected something more practical... like actual wine tasting! For your understanding: if you want to know about wine making, the plants, the procedure, the climate, the regions, the machinery, the bottles, the logistics, the amounts, the history, the scents, the varieties, the blending, and whatever comes to mind about wine production, brought to you in a very teacher-student-way, this is your place! Just don‘t expect to come anywhere near tasting the precious liquid in the first hour. And don‘t expect to get more than a tiny sip of any of the four featured wines, which is dealed as if it was god‘s personal stash of very limited holy ambrosia. And don‘t be surprised if some members of your tour get little snack plates with olives and crackers and walnuts while the rest of the group get to watch in envy because they didn‘t know there was a premium package available that was never mentioned in the process of buying the tickets on the phone or when paying them at the counter or at any point. Speaking of purchase, my pregnant wife who doesn‘t drink had to pay almost the full price. I leave it to you to compare that to what the other local wineries offer in that case. In the end, my head was spinning, my ears were bleeding and my throat was dry, and my wife and me felt so drained we had to fight the urge to go back to the hotel and call it a day. I am aware that every wine tasting is a sales pitch with an exit through the gift shop, and having payed the price of at the least one good bottle of wine on this one, I feel cheated. I am not exaggerating when I say this experience traumatized me to a point where I don‘t want to risk doing another wine tasting. I am glad I did tho, there is a bunch of lovely big and small places all over town that are worth visiting. That said, every experience is different, and I wish you a great time in Cafayate. Great tour given but everyone was confused as to where and when it would start because it was past the starting time and we still hadn’t left. When the tour finished, we went to taste the wines. We got the more expensive wine tasting (extreme altitudes) of 5 wines for $3500 pesos or $12 USD. Then we went horseback riding. This was one of the highlights of the trip for me. We talked to Ricardo who set up the 2 hour tour and met us there at the winery. By the time we finished the wine tour, apparently we were too late to do the full two hour tour (which is strange because they know what time we’ll finish…). So instead we did a loop around the vineyards in about an hour and a half. Our tour guide was super friendly and we loved how he gave us a little freedom to trot with the horses and get to know their processes. We loved being able to see how the baby responded to going out for its first loop with its mom. Because we didn’t do the full tour we only paid $2,500 pesos per person instead of $4,000 each. The lighting was beautiful and made the experience more enjoyable. I wish it could have been during the sunset a bit more. The resort itself looked well done, somewhat modern with traditional influences. We didn’t stay here but the families who were looked to enjoy themselves. nice place to take photos. but poor attention from the staff. I wanted to try two different wines and they don't wash your glasses. They say they didn't have glasses. I had to wash my own glass in the water dispenser. The wines are overpriced and not so palatable.

Awesome! It's huge, and the architecture it's stunning. The wines are so good, and the people you'll meet is very warm. You can also stay with some horses and even ride one of them. Awesome animals! The whole experience is a 10.

Amazing wine tour. Julietta was so knowledgable and friendly. There’s a clear passion for her job and her English is perfect. We did the extreme wines (higher altitude) and they were all delicious. Julietta walked us through the whole tasting as it was our first time doing a wine tasting, and made it an overall 10/10. She even managed to navigate a drunk member of the group very politely and swiftly. Beautiful place. I would recommend staying a little after to explore. Julietta and the man on reception were so helpful with recommendations around Cafayate for after the tour. Couldn’t recommend them more!

Really enjoyed this winery. The area to taste and try wine was wonderful and you can use a vending machine to pick your wine to taste which was fun. Nice courtyard and we also spent the afternoon by the pool with more wine. Very nice establishment

Beautiful winery. Tasting works in a way where you get a tasting card with a chip and use a wine dispenser to taste whatever you want. Try the Tannat, that's really good, especially for the price.

Not very impressive at all. Very bland and superficial architecture, nothing of note. If you want to see a beautiful or elegant church, go to Salta. If you want to see a lovely and quaint one, go to one of the surrounding villages. It's striking yellow colour is extraordinary, but largely for the wrong reasons: it only highlights the lack of lustre or details.

Really nice wine tasting experience, we got introduced to the history of the bodega and specificities of the wine produced in the area, we got to taste three wines and one came complementary, it was very pleasant and the cost was affordable.

Had the best time at bodega Domingo Hermanos! We’ve arrived to the winery quite late unfortunately and were late for the final tasting at 16. However, this didn’t not spoil our experience. Lucas offered us wine and cheese and we could enjoy the vineyards for another hour before they closed. Lucas went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He shared lots of info on the wine and grapes and answered all of our questions (some were not even wine related haha). We truly felt like we were visiting someone’s home, that’s how personal the experience felt. The wine of course is amazing, we fell in love with the local dessert wine. Cheese was something worth visiting the cheese factory for. Definitely want to come back and will recommend anyone to visit

value for price balance definitely okay, since the tour costs only 50 pesos including the tasting. Negative for me was that the guide didn't speak any English and after asking to slow down in Spanish, still talked really fast and seemed not highly motivated or considerate of the guests that don't speak Spanish so fluently. On a big Tour, i can respect that, but with only 4 customers taking the tour, that's something to consider. Our guide was friendly, but have the impression only to be summing up a prepared text, with little room for extra info or questions. Really lovely setting and very helpful staff. Wine tastings and cheese were nice but the quality to cost per bottle is wonderful. Wish we could get these bottles in our hometown.

We really enjoyed our tour and wine tasting here. 50 pesos per person for a our, tasting of 4 wines and some cheese, which is also all available to buy in their shop. The tour guide was really nice and we were the only ones on the tour at 4.15pm. 3.15pm was much busier probably because it opens again at 3pm. Really relaxed tour and tasting.

Had a winery tour in Spanish, and didn’t understand too much. But enjoyed the tasting at the end! Took home a bottle of their 2017 Reserve Torrontes and some goats cheese as well :) good value for money!

The visit cost 100 Pesos and the guide was knowledgeable. The tour was short as it's a small winery, the tasting was of 2 wines, either a dry white or a sweet white and a Malbec. For 500 pesos extra you can taste Cab. The tasting is little. All in all a pleasant experience.

Went for a last minute degustación that was free. No tour of the factory was offered. We were given two cheapest wines that were plain so we bought some of their better wine to sample at home. Uneventful visit.

Had a guided tour with Tiamar Travels to QUARA from Salta to Cafayate. While the tour was totally in Spanish, we got to see parts of the winemaking process. The Torrentes was good although the Torrentes Dulce, though popular, was a bit too bright.
