This was a much anticipated trip, I had seen many previous videos and pictures. There are many comments about the entry price being vastly different for International visitors, 375K IDR compared to domestic visitors who pay 50K. I can understand why the difference exists, but it seems rather steep to me. The biggest disappointment for me was that you are no longer allowed to enter the temple. The access points are now sealed off. Again I can understand why, but for myself, it did take some of the pleasure away. The famous bell towers can only really be seen from a distance and in my opinion can't be appreciated in the same way. The site possesses the longest exit route I have ever experienced! You walk though a labyrinth of alleys lined with literally hundreds of gift stalls. As previously mentioned, I can totally understand why this is so. All that said; it is a world heritage site and well worth a visit. The perimeter is open and you can walk around all 4 sides of this vast and impressive temple. As I walked away from the area, I had mixed feelings: I couldn't help feeling a little disappointed by the 3 aforementioned aspects but thoroughly impressed by the wonderful architecture.

A majestic temple complex. Opening time 8.30 for the groups (with guide). No sunrise tours at 4 /5/6 am anymore. Purchased tickets online a week in advance. A tour with guide last 1 hour plus (inside the temple, climbed all the way up). Only about 1200 tourists allowed daily. Lots of souvenirs shops around, cafes etc.

Requiring a guide limited the experience for me. Requiring unsafe sandals that allowed my feet to get sun burned was a drawback to the experience. Recommend taking socks that you can wear with the required sandals that you have to buy with the tickets. We chose not to pay extra for a guide that could speak English. We thought we could explore at our own pace, but we had to stay with our guide. It was really hot at 10:00 a.m. and the guide had us standing in the sun multiple times getting baked. Our group had 15 people, which was too many for one group. It would probably be worth it to find a way to pay extra for a smaller group of your own party to go at your own pace. You definitely should walk up the steps to the top.

Borobudur temple is a cultural heritage site which is currently protect and under supervise by UNESCO and INDONESIA Government. In 2024, visitors are limited to 1200 peeple per day.. and we can only reach level 9, because level 10 only used for worship. Recommended place to visit with your Family.

Truly a magnificent landmark. Not only value its historical moment, also spiritual too. The last time I visited, it was sprinkling (not raining) and I strongly felt it was a blessing from the Buddhas to keep myself a little bit dry. The written wall of the temple is still safely kept until now, which is serving its important messages to us. However, after you done strolling around the temple, please do not forget to visit the cafe. The service is very friendly and the prices aren’t expensive at all.

The temple itself is very nice, and it worth a visit if you’re in the area of course, given its cultural significance as the largest Buddhist monument on earth. I will say the price was quite steep however for what you receive. It was approx 500000 per person if you want to walk through the temple grounds, and this entitles you to go onto the temple but only with a guide, and you only have one hour. Because of this, a lot of the panelling work and areas are missed off the tour, and they seem to drag you only to where people will want to have photos of themselves taken. I’d have preferred to not have a guide at all had I known what I was paying for was a time limited tour of one corridor and the roof area, but unfortunately you are not allowed to access the temple without the guide.

We loved visiting here. The guide was brilliant, very knowledgeable and funny. The flip flops you have to wear (included in ticket price and bag) we good and a lovely keep sake. The worst part was trying to get out of the temple complex with 300meter plus of souvenir shops.

Beautiful temple, but nowhere near as large & impressive as is made out. Tickets are expensive- for foreign tourists at least. Visit on weekdays & not dawn and you will avoid the crowds. On exiting the complex, try to avoid the maze of trinket stalls that go on for ever.

It's a must visit place in Yogyakarta. Its one of the famous Buddhist monuments in the world, built between 8th and 9th Century. The best way to visit the temple is to take a guided tour. A limited number of tourists are allowed to enter inside the temple at a time. Without prior booking It's difficult to get a slot. More than half day is required to visit this temple. Enjoyed my visit to this place.

Amazing and magical place. We did a group tour with Sunrise, so we arrived to the Temple very early, we were the first one entered to the temple's first ground. We took a big walk around the temple and in the area. Around 9am they took us up to the temple. There is maximum 150 person/hour, and we were divided up to smaller group with a local guide, what made the whole experience even better

The temple itself is lovely and the gardens are beautiful, however the ticket price is outrageous. It’s not worth the money. I don’t understand why foreigners pay more, it’s a little unfair. I wonder if the people in here that gave good reviews paid cheaper price. If the price were reasonable I would give a better review as the temple itself is nice.

Came to this place before the Covid Pandemic hit. This place is wonderful and the vibe is relaxing. Access to the location is easy. The last time I visited here, the view at the top of the temple was amazing and crowded with tourists. If you want to visit here, please pay attention to the signs in several locations to help keep the temple well maintained.

Very beautiful. Although the two separate entry points aren’t being made clear to tourists. There is the general admission where you can explore the grounds, including AROUND the temple, then there’s the separate admission (with a schedule on a first come first serve basis) where you can walk ON the steps of the temple and whatnot. However, I love the museum. It has a lot of great displays with the descriptions available both in Indonesian and English.

Incredibly impressive. Our guide was knowledgeable but knew that most of the group wanted to get to the top and get our pictures. Absolutely the best thing we have done in Java. Only 150 people are allowed up at the time which is good. We had a tour take us there, and we did get a better history of the temple and it's significance on Java culture before we went.

Loved this place. Foreigners have to pay a lot more than locals. But they use the extra money for restoration and maintenance. They only allow 150 per hour into the temple and you have to have a guide. Got a ticket and only had to wait about 30-45 minutes for the next tour group. They give you special sandals to protect the temple and then you get them as a souvenir. We had an amazing guide that is very knowledgeable about the temple and it history. The tour lasted about 40 minutes and we still had 20 minutes left for our tour. So we were able to walk around, relax and check out the temple at our own pace. Took an overpriced shuttle from Yogyakarta then shared a taxi coming back.

My 3rd times here. This time visited with the kids. Will be a memorable time and such a great opportunity to see and learn one of world’s seven wonders. The area was very clean with some updated facilities like electric bus, golf cart to touring around temple area. The toilet was also clean. Hopefully get better with more attractions and facilities in the future.

Who doesn't know Borobudur Temple, its fame is very well known throughout the world. Want to share experiences when visiting here. Before you come, it's best to buy tickets online so you don't have to queue for a long time. My advice is to buy a ticket with a package entry to the temple, it's more expensive than one with access to the grounds, but it's more satisfying if you buy a package to go up to the temple because we get a guide and are also given special sandals. to go up to the top of the temple If you want to come here, don't forget to bring an umbrella, hat, drinking water and don't forget to use sunblock because it's really hot up there. Lastly, if you want to buy souvenirs, after coming down from the temple, buy souvenirs in the area near the exit because it is cheaper. That's all the review, basically this Borobudur temple is really recommended to visit.

Borobudur temple is super great! I feel honored I have the opportunity to come back here and climb to (almost) the top. I’ve been here when I was little but it felt different. Now it is more organized (yes they charged a more expensive ticket) and clean. You get the upanat sandals (included in ticket price). And there’s a tour guide lead your group and told you the history. Don’t forget to buy tickets in advance through the official website. The negative thing is the exit is way too complicated, you need to go through hundreds of local stalls with sellers forcing you to buy souvenirs. Not a fun experience at all.

Standing firmly as one of the 7 Wonders of the World, Borobudur was constructed between about 778 and 850 CE, under the Shailendra dynasty (UNESCO). Built as a Buddhist temple in Center Java Island, Indonesia at that period of time, nowadays, it's the only ancient Buddhist temple in the land of Islamic Indonesia. I was thrilled to witness this magnificent antique structures and walk on her as one of the true Buddhist devotee (I walked 3 rounds clockwise on the top 2nd platform with clear mind - believe it can bring my wishes come true). It is hot, so make sure you have sunscreen and a head cover. I spent 3 days exploring the temple while staying in Manohara Resort in Borobudur Temple compound! We got the entrance ticket included in our stay with Manohara Resort, that also includes a special foot wear to walk within Borobudur site (as shown in the photo). 3 different exploration days (1st. Day overture to get the overall story, fun and fact about the temple; 2nd. Day I brought in a lot more details on the cravings and the Buddha status in the temple; 3rd. Day rainy afternoon with a complete different look on Borobudur completion, fresh and colorful in my eyes). 3 different perspectives and feelings that Borobudur Temple give! Make the way to this magnificent site!

Everything is good and neatly arranged, only after we have finished admiring it, when we get to the exit, we have to go through a maze of selling stalls (and these stalls should also be attractively designed) which is quite tiring. Maybe there should also be some kind of cafe and/or restaurant that is nice and clean so that visitors can hang out there.

So so experience. The candi itself was impressive. Being such an impressive historical monument, this candi is a tourist magnet for locals and foreigners alike. It’s like a must for tourists to visit. The management of this candi knows it very well thus even with a very steep price to visit inside the candi (not only on the court yard or “pelataran” in indonesia word, many foreigners are “willing” to pay such an exorbitant price. With this such a high price, foreigners tourist have a high expectations about the whole experience but sadly this was not met. We visited candi borobudur on 31 mar 2024 and entry time was 10.30 am and we got a group nb 20. There were 25 people in the group-many more than the max of 15 people. The tour guide was not sympathetic at all and his knowledge about borobudur was below expectation. The storytelling skill was not good enough to be a guide in such an impressive candi. Apart from the subpar tour guide, we were given only 1 hour to visit the temple, it’s not enough at all. At the min the management of candi needs to give tourists at least 2 hours as we wanna to see and admire more details on the relics and stupa. Everything was a rush. The tour guide rushed us to move from one point to another point and to exit the temple (the tour guide needs to make sure that all his groups to be scanned in exit gate). This one hour experience inside the temple was not what we expected. It took 1.5 hours from Yogja to the temple, queue in getting our ticket scanned, queue to have our tour start and we were about to admire the history and the beauty of the candi, times up, let alone to take some photos. The bottom line it’s a disappointing experience. Hopefully the borobudur management team will listen and make improvements. Ps: compare with prambanan temple, we preferred prambanan experience. More genuine and original experience.

Very beautiful architecture. Ticket is very expensive for foreigner. Need to wear the sandals as you can bring back as a souvenir. There will be sellers selling umbrellas, buy from them if the weather is too hot or rain because there is no shelter.

Much better than expected! Really unique place. A tour is provided with the entrance fee, which is very interesting. There are 7 levels total, and the view from the top is amazing. You are also given cassava to try, which adds to the experience and have the option to buy more food. The outdoor areas are well-maintained also. Definitely worth it!

It's church that looks like a massive chicken. What else do you need to know, go there now! Apparently it's a actually a pigeon, has multiple rooms for people of different faiths to worship. Great views from the top, even on a cloudy day we could see Borobudur

renovated during the pandemic, this is a really peaceful tourist attraction that surprised me. The view from on top of the crown is breathtaking, you can see all the surrounding volcanos and mountains. Tickets are 25k and you get a free local food dish at the restaurant which is also reasonably priced and beautifully peaceful. If you are looking to get away from the crowds and relax with some incredible views then this is the place. Oh yeah it’s also a pigeon (not chicken)

Huge, dove shape church for all 5 religion. They have a small cafe that sells merchandise and light snack, as well as coffees. The view is very beautiful and on clear day, you may see the church is pointing to Mount Merapi

Lovely place that is often misunderstood. The "chicken church" is well administered and for the 25k admission fee, you get a guided tour through the building and even some delicious local snack. Seeing how a place for all religions can contribute to peace and cultural understanding is great. Keep spreading love!

Absolutely recommend this place to anyone! Price is 25k on the door (better than the rip off Borobudur which is 350k). Amazing views from the crown, beautiful and unique church, restaurant is also really nice and not too expensive (ticket includes free local snack). Staff all really friendly and welcoming!!

The dove church is a place for everyone who would like to pray, to just pray. But then, why pay 25K to pray if you can do it at home for free 😁 Beautiful scenery from the top, the caretakers/guides are very nice and polite.

we can't go up because the road is too steep and slippery, we can take a jeep by adding 15k rupiah, the entry ticket is 20k rupiah. my advice, just walking is more exciting haha

It is a lovely serene place to visit if you are staying in Yogyakarta. The idea of this church is amazing and there is place for everyone. The cafe is small, but very nice and the staff is helpful and friendly. The view from the top is definitely worth the small narrow staircase.

Great place to visit! Interesting, Quirky and Terrific Value (one price for all - no *extortion for tourists). *Our overseas guest, after being "hit" with such a high price at Prambanan, wasn't prepared to pay the same again for Borobudur, which we well understand. So, Bukit Rhema Gereja Ayam (or Chicken Church) was our 'go to' place. An enjoyable visit - one price for all - 25k/person - guide included - very well done - cafe up top for complimentary snacks, food and drinks - relaxing atmosphere and great views on a clear day. An interesting story about how, over many years this place was built, and well worth a visit. There is more development there currently - so we will definitely take future visitors that come to Yogyakarta, there again. 😊🙏😊 P. S. When you drive there you need to park at the bottom car park. From there you can ride up to the Chicken Church for 20k/person in a 4wheel drive vehicle (a regular car probably wouldn't make it) . You may need to wait, but worth it as the walking alternative is extremely steep. Saw another post here saying it's "as easy as 3 flights of stairs" (which is a gross underestimation of the walk. 😂😂)

It's an absolutely amazing place. No idea why it's not full of visitors every day. It's so peaceful, the church is absolutely unique and it was build out of kindness and used as a rehabilitation centre for the socially disadvantaged. It's inter religious and cross cultural, open 24 h and the people there are so nice. I am not religious but I just loved this place. Great place to meditate and also to hang out at the café with marvelous vistas, lovely music, Wifi, great food and drinks. The entrance price is incredibly cheap for what it is. It's also just 10 minutes from borubudur temple. Hope more people will come and support this amazing project.

Visited this eye-catching structure after Borobudur Temple, many has mistaken it as a church that shaped like a chicken. Indeed it is a house of prayers that opened to all religions, the prayer rooms are located at basement which are not accessible to the general public. The dove-shaped building has 7 storeys which are accessible thru narrow spiral staircase. There are colourful painting on the wall which depict life journey, wisdom, culture, society & etc. The top floor provide a panoramic view of the entire precinct, is limited to 3-min per visit only. Accessibility to the building is challenging, needs to be transferred to a truck as the road going up to the building is pretty steep. There is a boutique selling local batiks and souvenirs at the adjacent building. A unique and interesting place to visit if you have the time.

If you are visiting Borobudur, I highly recommend you go there. The small chicken-shaped church on the hill is beautifully decorated. The admission fee also includes a coupon to exchange for cassava fritters. We recommend taking a look at the interior, which is decorated in various colors. You can also climb the church tower and find Borobudur Temple at 1 o'clock.

It's okay nothing very impressive about this place. Very bad design by the contractor I would say because it doesn't look like pigeon wearing a crown but in reality it is not a chicken church. This is also not a church but it's a place for worship for all religions. From the top you will get amazing view of the surrounding hills and also Borobudur temple. Ticket includes traditional snacks which is absolutely tasteless so if you are in a group just take one or two to taste if you like then you can take all otherwise you would end up throwing everything like I did.

I'm not spiritual person so this place did not make any special impression on me in that regard. However, the idea of peace between any religion is nice. The design of this building is, for the lack of a better word, grotesque. It is certainly eye catching and has a potential to attract tourists. On the other hand, they wanted a place of worship for all religions so if the building doesn't relate to any it's a benefit. When visiting Borobudur temple I recommend stepping here for a short visit, it's just 10min ride from the temple. There are two 'questionably legit' payed parkings before the entrence. The ticket includes a guide for a brief tour, entry to the highest floor (head) and free local snack - fried cassava. The idea behind all of this is good, I'd even say pure, only the execution somewhat weird.

I first saw this place on the Netflix documentary narrated by Werner Herzog, Into the Inferno. The views of Mt Merapi and the surrounding countryside are pretty spectacular from the bird's crown at the top. We went on a quiet day during the week and didn't have to wait at all but apparently the queues can get pretty long at weekends and public holidays. I wouldn't necessarily travel here just to see this place, but it made a quirky extra stop after seeing Borobudur. We found a Grab/Gojek car both from Borobudur to the Bird Church and back to Jogja after. Note that cars can't drive all the way to the top, they drop you off at the entrance car park. You can then choose to pay a little extra for a jeep to take you to the top but to be honest it's not a long walk at all, maybe 5 minutes, albeit quite steep. The entrance ticket also included a snack in the cafe, which was nice.

Must visit. They have shuttle from the carpark to the hill, around 40k/person including ticket,return shuttle and fried cassava. They also have a local guide. In the pray room (1st floor) you cant take any photo or video. To take photo in the crown of the bird you have to queueing cos they just allowed per 8 person and only 3 minutes. They also have nice cafe with a good view

Second time coming here and still love this place. Ticket is 25k/person including a private guide for first and second floor. Additional 15k/pax for the ride from and to parking area, recommend this add-on because the hike is 45 degrees steep. Gift shop store is so tempting, located after the ticket box and the final stop for the ride. If you would like to go to the top (mahkota area) there will be queuing so no worry about the crowd. Cafe is located at the side of the building, serving yummy food.

It is a Hindu temple deep in the mountains. Surprisingly, its appearance was well preserved. The surrounding area was kept clean and there were generally many foreign tourists like me.

It is a quite small temp, but you can experience an very nice walk with a great view on the rice terraces. Also on the way there is a coll coffee spot to have a short break. The combination of landscape and the nice small temple makes it worth a visit. Take a car and let you bring to the end of the small village. Frome there it is a 30 tp 45min walk.

Our guide brought us here between Borobudur and Prambanan temples, and it was a nice visit to be able to see the impressive rice fields on the side of the mountain. Do not expect much from the temple, but the walk up from the village is amazing. There is an entrance fee of 25.000 IDR/person.

Selogriyo is a very nice temple with supported by beautiful scenery. We need hiking about 2 kilometers to reach the temple from car parking area. So, it means we can combine at least 3 activities here, namely cultural, natural and physical (sport activity) tourism.

The road to up is winding and narrow and you have to continue walking from the end road up about 1.5 km. The view however is breathtaking. The temple itself was being reconstructed. Even than the view for me is far more important to see, not to mention friendly natives I met along the walk. I was struggling for the bathroom and one neighbor let me in just like that. Parking is very limited, if possible go with a local driver so you don’t have to worry about parking.

Perhaps it was an easy walk and hike, but apparently not for me. There's motorcycle for hire if ypu do not want to walk. There is a lot of vandalism on the temple,but it is worth the visit. Calm and serene atmosphere

I was amazed by the stunning sceneries along the way to this temple. So green and yet so tranquil. The road for motorbike and pedestrians are well made and maintained. I could not describe more how beautiful this area. And this tiny temple is worth it . On top of the hill ,just if we are lucky enough to enjoy when the sky is clear. Mount Sumbing is the view that we can not miss at all. Parking lot for motorbike is upstair just near to the stairs to the temple but for the car you need to park a little bit far and then you can either walk or take rental bike that costs 25.000 IDR for one way or 40.000 for returns. Toilet is available near by the second gate just before the temple. And it is clean enough. Perfect timing to visit is during dry season ( April to October) or morning when it is not cloudy. I am sure I will be back here to take more pictures.

The temple itself is quite small, but the views on the walk to the temple are breath-taking. Rice fields, terraces and volcanoes - stunning. Lots of wildlife to be seen and certainly worth the walk.

Selogriyo is about 30 km. away from Borobudur, and journey by car or motorcycle takes about one hour (each way), over paved, winding country lanes. Walking through the village, you can see the backbreaking work needed to grow the rice and harvest wood etc. Never take your food for granted. I couldn’t even imagine walking up and down those terraces to plant and harvest rice every day.

You need to walk about 2 km from the entrance. The view is amazing. Ticket price is Rp7.000. If you drive a car, you can park your car at the villagers' house and you need to pay and ask permission first but it's not expensive.

Much better than expected! Really unique place. A tour is provided with the entrance fee, which is very interesting. There are 7 levels total, and the view from the top is amazing. You are also given cassava to try, which adds to the experience and have the option to buy more food. The outdoor areas are well-maintained also. Definitely worth it!

renovated during the pandemic, this is a really peaceful tourist attraction that surprised me. The view from on top of the crown is breathtaking, you can see all the surrounding volcanos and mountains. Tickets are 25k and you get a free local food dish at the restaurant which is also reasonably priced and beautifully peaceful. If you are looking to get away from the crowds and relax with some incredible views then this is the place. Oh yeah it’s also a pigeon (not chicken)

Huge, dove shape church for all 5 religion. They have a small cafe that sells merchandise and light snack, as well as coffees. The view is very beautiful and on clear day, you may see the church is pointing to Mount Merapi

Lovely place that is often misunderstood. The "chicken church" is well administered and for the 25k admission fee, you get a guided tour through the building and even some delicious local snack. Seeing how a place for all religions can contribute to peace and cultural understanding is great. Keep spreading love!

Absolutely recommend this place to anyone! Price is 25k on the door (better than the rip off Borobudur which is 350k). Amazing views from the crown, beautiful and unique church, restaurant is also really nice and not too expensive (ticket includes free local snack). Staff all really friendly and welcoming!!

The dove church is a place for everyone who would like to pray, to just pray. But then, why pay 25K to pray if you can do it at home for free 😁 Beautiful scenery from the top, the caretakers/guides are very nice and polite.

It is a lovely serene place to visit if you are staying in Yogyakarta. The idea of this church is amazing and there is place for everyone. The cafe is small, but very nice and the staff is helpful and friendly. The view from the top is definitely worth the small narrow staircase.

Great place to visit! Interesting, Quirky and Terrific Value (one price for all - no *extortion for tourists). *Our overseas guest, after being "hit" with such a high price at Prambanan, wasn't prepared to pay the same again for Borobudur, which we well understand. So, Bukit Rhema Gereja Ayam (or Chicken Church) was our 'go to' place. An enjoyable visit - one price for all - 25k/person - guide included - very well done - cafe up top for complimentary snacks, food and drinks - relaxing atmosphere and great views on a clear day. An interesting story about how, over many years this place was built, and well worth a visit. There is more development there currently - so we will definitely take future visitors that come to Yogyakarta, there again. 😊🙏😊 P. S. When you drive there you need to park at the bottom car park. From there you can ride up to the Chicken Church for 20k/person in a 4wheel drive vehicle (a regular car probably wouldn't make it) . You may need to wait, but worth it as the walking alternative is extremely steep. Saw another post here saying it's "as easy as 3 flights of stairs" (which is a gross underestimation of the walk. 😂😂)

It's an absolutely amazing place. No idea why it's not full of visitors every day. It's so peaceful, the church is absolutely unique and it was build out of kindness and used as a rehabilitation centre for the socially disadvantaged. It's inter religious and cross cultural, open 24 h and the people there are so nice. I am not religious but I just loved this place. Great place to meditate and also to hang out at the café with marvelous vistas, lovely music, Wifi, great food and drinks. The entrance price is incredibly cheap for what it is. It's also just 10 minutes from borubudur temple. Hope more people will come and support this amazing project.

Visited this eye-catching structure after Borobudur Temple, many has mistaken it as a church that shaped like a chicken. Indeed it is a house of prayers that opened to all religions, the prayer rooms are located at basement which are not accessible to the general public. The dove-shaped building has 7 storeys which are accessible thru narrow spiral staircase. There are colourful painting on the wall which depict life journey, wisdom, culture, society & etc. The top floor provide a panoramic view of the entire precinct, is limited to 3-min per visit only. Accessibility to the building is challenging, needs to be transferred to a truck as the road going up to the building is pretty steep. There is a boutique selling local batiks and souvenirs at the adjacent building. A unique and interesting place to visit if you have the time.

If you are visiting Borobudur, I highly recommend you go there. The small chicken-shaped church on the hill is beautifully decorated. The admission fee also includes a coupon to exchange for cassava fritters. We recommend taking a look at the interior, which is decorated in various colors. You can also climb the church tower and find Borobudur Temple at 1 o'clock.

It's okay nothing very impressive about this place. Very bad design by the contractor I would say because it doesn't look like pigeon wearing a crown but in reality it is not a chicken church. Ticket includes traditional snacks which is absolutely tasteless so if you are in a group just take one or two to taste if you like then you can take all otherwise you would end up throwing everything like I did.

The design of this building is, for the lack of a better word, grotesque. It is certainly eye catching and has a potential to attract tourists. When visiting Borobudur temple I recommend stepping here for a short visit, it's just 10min ride from the temple. There are two 'questionably legit' payed parkings before the entrence. The ticket includes a guide for a brief tour, entry to the highest floor (head) and free local snack - fried cassava. The idea behind all of this is good, I'd even say pure, only the execution somewhat weird.

I first saw this place on the Netflix documentary narrated by Werner Herzog, Into the Inferno. The views of Mt Merapi and the surrounding countryside are pretty spectacular from the bird's crown at the top. We went on a quiet day during the week and didn't have to wait at all but apparently the queues can get pretty long at weekends and public holidays. I wouldn't necessarily travel here just to see this place, but it made a quirky extra stop after seeing Borobudur. We found a Grab/Gojek car both from Borobudur to the Bird Church and back to Jogja after. Note that cars can't drive all the way to the top, they drop you off at the entrance car park. You can then choose to pay a little extra for a jeep to take you to the top but to be honest it's not a long walk at all, maybe 5 minutes, albeit quite steep. The entrance ticket also included a snack in the cafe, which was nice.

Must visit. They have shuttle from the carpark to the hill, around 40k/person including ticket,return shuttle and fried cassava. They also have a local guide. In the pray room (1st floor) you cant take any photo or video. To take photo in the crown of the bird you have to queueing cos they just allowed per 8 person and only 3 minutes. They also have nice cafe with a good view

Second time coming here and still love this place. Ticket is 25k/person including a private guide for first and second floor. Additional 15k/pax for the ride from and to parking area, recommend this add-on because the hike is 45 degrees steep. Gift shop store is so tempting, located after the ticket box and the final stop for the ride. If you would like to go to the top (mahkota area) there will be queuing so no worry about the crowd. Cafe is located at the side of the building, serving yummy food.

I would 100% recommend the cask draw experience - delicious 18 year old cask strength whiskey in a lovely aromatic environment. Katie was a charming and informative host. The splosh and gurgle of the distillers dog was a delight. I don't think I'd recommend the tour however. Our guide was great but it all felt a bit rushed and there wasn't enough time to linger and it all felt a bit constructed. It didn't feel that deep or engaging despite our guides best efforts. The whiskey tasting section was nice but the selection felt geared towards shifting product rather than a really distinctive tasting experience. I'm a whiskey enthusiast not an expert but there wasn't enough contrast between the whiskeys being tasted. You could buy the whiskeys as you exit through the gift shop though... You do get a good couple of drams for your ticket fee so there's good value in that. On balance though I'd recommend you get the cask draw for €10, buy a drink in the bar and go to the Guinness storehouse for the afternoon and enjoy the sunset in the gravity bar.

Great experience. Lots of people but really well managed with small group guided tours provided. Hats off to you guys at Jameson’s. Our guide Leah S was really brilliant; informative and entertaining as well as friendly and polite, making it a really worth while visit, highly recommended. Not too hard sell, just really interesting and enjoyable experience. Lots of credit was given to all the workers over the years who have made this such a success as reflected in the company logo of a man (labourer) with a barrel on his back. This is a ‘must see’ experience.

Made reservations for a Monday evening Cocktail Class. Loved the distillery and bar area - great vibes and decor! Enjoyed our cocktail class and even had a few more at the bar area after. We did visit the gift shop and were hoping/expecting it to have many more items, but it was quite small. Would recommend signing up for one of their activities if you appreciate whsikey!

We did the Jameson Distillery Tour and had an amazing experience. It lasted about an hour, and our tour guide Sean was hilarious! He went through the entire distilling process in detail and made it interesting. And the best part - WHISKEY! I highly recommend the orange "water of life" 😉 I don't want to spoil the tour so check it out for yourself, it's worth it! And something you absolutely need to see when visiting Dublin

This was a quick walk from center city & also the Guinness Storehouse, and is in a quaint area. We did the 45 minute tour with Alex and she was INCREDIBLE! So fun, knowledgeable, and engaging. The bar is also a great, warm spot to relax at the end. We would definitely come back.

Visited in 2022. This is a must if you are a fan of Jameson. The atmosphere is great as soon as you walk in. Cool bar right when you enter where they have very good cocktails. Their gift shop is great, lots of cool items that will make great gifts. They even have a few bottles that are exclusive to the Guinness store that you can personalize with your name on the label. We did the tour and the guide was amazing! He was so good at keeping everyone engaged and the content of the tour was really entertaining. We paid extra to taste from a cask that they tap open in front of you. This is something they do not bottle for sale. Overall, highly recommend it! P.S. I heard from a local in Dublin that he had gone on a tour awhile back and it wasn’t good but they had updated the tour a few years back and he had gone back as well and was much better. So if you had gone awhile ago and was disappointed, try again! Book ahead of time!

I did the Standard Bow Street Experience your which includes a drink on arrival to take with you on the 40+ min tour, learning about the history of Jameson, how the famous whiskey is made and whiskey taste testing. Molly our guide was very nice and informative. Really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend it.

The Bow St Experience tour is well organized. Tour guide was nice, tried to engage as much as she could and entertained us. Comparative tasting was good and fun. At the end you get a voucher for a drink. I would 100% recommend ginger&lime cocktail even if you prefer neat whiskey. What made this a 5 star review was a cask draw experience in their live maturation warehouse in the building. We had an absolute craic there with tour guide Niall (kudos!) who just shinned with the love for whiskey. He was very insightful with tonnes of knowledge. Niall made cask draw experience worth every penny.

Not a fan of whiskey until today! The explanation how to taste made so much sense that you can actually really learn to enjoy it. Our tour guide was funny and explained everything very passionately. In total 4 drinks , one in the ticket you can trade in the begging or end of the tour and 3 more samples in the end of the tour. Used my Go City pass to visit this museum.

I visited 3 whiskey distilleries in Ireland and Jameson had the best experience of any of them, and was one of my favorite things we did in Dublin. The tour was very well put together (and Nial was an excellent guide). The add on cask draw was also cool. The bar there was also really good. In addition to their normal cocktail menu they had a whole old fashioned menu, we tried 3 of them and all were delicious. I would also recommend the bottle your own black barrel option to any whiskey fans.

We did the standard tour and cask draw add-on here and had a great time. Our tour guide, Erin, made it though. She was super awesome and kept us all laughing throughout. I really enjoyed at the beginning she had us all say where we were from and kept engaging with all of us so it didn’t feel like a normal run of the mill tour. While you don’t see the inner working of a factory, I felt like I did learn a lot. The cask draw was totally worth it in my opinion. They bring you inside a room that is full of whisky barrels and pull it straight up from one of them for you to try. The taste was so different than the bottled versions with it being extra burning and warmed your chest, very cool.

Fantastic tour and experience for any Whisky fan or even those new to the drink - the whole experience was very enjoyable and our tour guide was welcoming, knowledgable and very friendly. You are out into timed groups and have a history lesson of Guinness, details on the manufacturing process and then finally a Jameson taste off vs Scottish Whisky and American Bourbon. Once finishing you are free to go to the bar and redeem your drink which are great! We definitely spent a while at the bar trying different drinks on the menu (would highly recommend the Irish coffee) All in all a very worthwhile experience - options are also available should you wish to do extended tours or private events (which looking back would’ve been great to do the cask tasting session)

We loved this tour. It was interactive, engaging and informative. We did the Guinness tour as well and found that one to be a bit of a money grab as it was primarily self guided. I’m not a whiskey drinker and enjoyed this tour anyway. A lot of pride from the folks who are employed by Jameson. You can tell it’s a well managed organization and they must treat their people well as everyone was passionate about their job and pleasant to ask questions to. The tour and tasting were well thought out. It exceeded my expectations. I would do it again next time I return.

Our tour guide was amazing. She gave us the history of Jameson in a fun and informative way. It was great to hear the Bourbon barrels of Kentucky contribute to the flavor of certain Jameson whiskeys. We fell in love with this place and enjoyed their new Orange Whiskey. My GF who was not a whiskey drinker now makes Ginger and Jameson a regular on her order menu. We purchased some personalized whiskey for my daughter and now son-in-law along with making our own bottle of whiskey was a great experience. 5 stars all day and a must when you visit Dublin

My boyfriend and I went to Jameson's yesterday and we had a great great time, we're home visiting family and to celebrate St Paddy's day.... the staff were really great, we got to chat properly with Margaret, in the gift shop, really knowledgeable and friendly and of course our guide Leah was just fantastic.... another lovely girl in the gift shop who helped us with tax back, as he's from America, sorry I didn't get her name, we started with delicious old fashioned cocktails, 12€ each, then we did the 45 minute tour, we booked online 30€ each, it included a complimentary drink, choice of Jameson neat, or with lemonade or with ginger ale. You were able to bring this on the tour instead of rushing...... the tour itself included tasting of Jameson distillery blend, Crested Jameson and Black Barrel Jameson, it was a great experience and I will definitely go back and try one of the other tours another day..... well done Jameson x

Great experience, the basic tasting is a great deal, includes the post experience drink and a nice variety of cocktail options at the end. We went in the slow season, during winter and it was really quiet which made it even better. Took our time and only had a handful of people in our tasting. Loved learning the history, it's not as extravagant as say Guinness, but it's much more educational and interesting.

We came here and did the Bow St Experience followed by the Cask Draw which were two incredible experiences. The tour was fantastic (Alex was our tour guide and she was incredibly fun and informative) and the Cask Draw was such a unique experience where we got to try a 21 year whiskey straight from the barrel. Niall talked us through that process and gave us so much information about the whiskey. The experience is immeasurably better than the Guinness Storehouse and is very interactive, a must visit in Dublin!

Reduced groups of max 16 people, the activity allows you to make 2 cocktails from scratch with guidance from an expert cocktail maker. Starting with a whiskey tasting the class followed with the details, ingredients and instructions of two different cocktails (changing depending on the season) and ends the session with a third drink on a private area of the distillery prepared by the instructor. They can still do better for more sophisticated tourists and their needs like tour booking, planning and explanations though. Do take the special sunrise breakfast picnic if you are there. Manohara is an upscale restaurant inside the Padambanan compound. They have shuttle service going around the park so better utilize it :). I like the place very much (mainly becauseof the AC at the first floor). If you want to have a good view of the park go to the 2nd floor. They serve good food here (well adjusted for tourists). Their staff are also well versed in english and they will hrlp you in evry possible way.

The restaurant located inside the Borobudur complex. You could go to Borobudur directly from this restaurant. Maybe that is the reason we have to make reservation first before, even though the restaurant is not crowded. We got asked by the security several times about the reservation and it is quite annoying. The price of the food is reasonable and the taste is good. The best of all you could dine and enjoy the Borobudur temple scenery.

One night spent there is enough, especially if you check in early (noon), giving you time to visit the temple in the afternoon.
