Lovely place to visit for half a day out. Lots of walking around though, uphill and downhill, so brace yourself for that! The cave tour was pretty good too. Good cafe with a great view and clean toilets everywhere. Two play areas (that I'm aware of) for the kids. Cable car ride was shorter than expected but eh, definitely worth a visit if you're driving from closeby.

We visited this place as a family. My mother was on her electric scooter. This place was accessible but a lot of the routes were way too steep. Her scooter went out of control twice. The cable car ride was short and we got to the other side pretty quickly. We also visited the historic caves which was included in this excursion. Anyone with a mobility or heart condition are not recommended to visit these caves. This excursion involved 175 steps. It was nice and cool in the caves. The other end was a nice view point where we took loads of pics. From kids point of view their were slides, swings and a puppet show. We also visited the high street nearby where we had fish and chips as brunch. Even though we visited this place on a Monday their was no parking whatsoever. We ended up parking on the high street which took 20 minutes to find.

Overall, it was a pleasant day out for families with young children. People in push chairs, wheelchairs, and the elderly who are unable to walk for long distances for any reason may struggle. Not enough parking space, slightly overpriced, long lines everywhere, and not as exciting as the marketing and interactive map suggest. Positives: The cable car and scenery were fantastic. The kids' two play areas was enjoyable.The restaurant staff and other employees were incredibly helpful and nice. One of the serving lady assisted us in clearing our wet picnic bag and offered us a bin liner. The walks are hilly, but I adore walking, so I had a good time. Big shout out to tour guy who made the tour of the cavern worth the trip with his jokes as there’s not a lot to see down there. Negatives: The parking was full and countless cars doing laps for a space, having to rely on public car parks in town, meeting the cable car time slot can be challenging. After waiting in queue for the cable car we reached the top. Whilst it may look very big on the map, it isn’t that huge and the 2 caverns are the major activity apart from the play areas and the Tower. The caverns were mediocre at best. Food were expensive as expected, Make sure you take a picnic.Worst queue of all was for the ice cream.

Nice place to spend some family time. Great views. I spent there 2 hours with family and to be honest we were in rush to catch piece of everything. We've seen caverns and Tower. We took a minute to stop at long view point. There are 2 playgrounds which my daughter enjoyed but sadly we haven't enough time to stop for longer. There is few restaurants. Last cable car run is just before 5 pm. Dogs are allowed everywhere apart from caverns.

Although it was a new experience for my family, however, I must mention the tickets are way too much more expensive than what you gonna get or they are offering. The cable car ride lasted a few minutes only, which was extremely disappointing. There's not much thing to do except the cave visit. Huge problem with the parking. Will never recommend any of my friends to go there as it is not worth paying that much money for nothing.

Great day out. Can spend hours there as lots to do. Cable cars give good views of the valley. There’s a free tour of the caves and various view points. There’s cafes and ice creme stands as well as a little gift shop.

Cable car ride gives a great view over Matlock bath. Cavern tours are very informative . Robert Walker (Aka Frank) was our tour guide on the Great Rutland cavern tour very welcoming, He makes the tour fun and educational for both the parents and children. My daughter chose this as a birthday morning out, and we are all glad she did. Great family memories. Will be visiting again, no doubt.

Really enjoyed our visit. Views are amazing from the Cable Car and the Heights of Abraham. Something for everyone here. There are lots of hilly paths so be aware if you're less mobile. Family members went into the Caves and really enjoyed it.

We enjoyed our visit - four children and four adults. There's a good variety of things to see and do. There's not many days out that give you an opportunity to fly 120 feet above the ground and then go 120 feet under the ground!

Good for kids and adults alike. Enjoyed the exhibitions - very informative. This may sound obvious but don't go in the caves if you're not comfortable with enclosed spaces (although the caves look huge on the website, there are narrow dark corridors with low ceilings and the group sizes are large).

Great family outing when visiting Matlock Bath. Expect to pay £20/person with children under 7 for free. The fee will get give you access to the cable car, two tours of the caves and a play area for children. The walk down to the first cave is tough with buggy and people with wheelchairs really battled with the steep hike. The guides were very knowledgeable and the views were just breath-taking. We spend 3 hours on top and got caught in "traffic" so we had to wait about 20 minutes in a queue to get in a cable car, around 4pm. I think the last access was 4:30.

We spent a good few hours here when visiting the local area. The heights are dog friendly, they even gave him some treats once we arrived at the top - he was very pleased! The staff are really knowledgeable giving a great overview of the site and it's history. There is a Cave tour too, this part isn't dog friendly but there is a lovely walk that meets up with the end of the tour so I did this whilst my husband did the tour. The views from the top were absolutely beautiful! 🌲🌳🌿

Overall a fantastic place to visit. Scenic views from the top of the mountains. Well maintained place with walking trails and fresh mountain air A good place to spend time with kids and family. There is a cable car ride which take you to the summit. Quite an enjoyable experience.

A fantastic day out learning about this area and its history! We had Andi for our first cavern tour and she was absolutely amazing! She gave us a brief history and geology info on the limestone and when the cavern were being mined. Mr. Benjamin Bryan was another delight! He gave us a short tour and was great in character!! The walk around was pleasant with plenty of information on boards and online along the way! The cable car to and from the park was great too! Our dog loved the day and she was made very welcome!! Don’t forgot to look beyond the park and into Derbyshire! The views are breathtaking!!

Amazing!! I think we booked ticket for about 10am. Stayed until about 2:30pm. Its a whole day of fun. 2 amazing cave tours: props to Sophie! A nice mineral/rock shop and amazing views. Not really for people with low mobility, but there are some areas to chill, and there's a video tour of the caves in a building for people who cant go in. The food in the cafe was amazing too! Great nachos, I got the pulled pork burger, and my partner had fish & chips. Highly rated. Book tickets in advance and check to see if your hotel offers discounts in partnership.

A surprisingly wonderful day out. Weather was cloudy but about 7 degrees with no wind so was a lovely day. We got there around 10.30 with little queues around, the cable car was very quick - too quick? - but great fun with the kids. The staff were beyond excellent with a fantastic little Easter egg crown hunt - fabulous actors. Live music playing. Cave tour was a good bonus but not necessarily my highlight, although pleasant and tour guide is clearly passionate about what he does. It’s a great day out with the kids, cafe food was good, scenery was beautiful. And if I had a dog / was not with the kids, would have loved to have gone for some longer walks down the more muddy paths. We ended up walking back down to the cable car which was a little too steep for my liking but the views were magical. Would most definately go again. But go early! I imagine it gets very busy on the good weather days.

Slightly overpriced £28.50 for an adult which is quite pricey but you do get the caves included. The trip up is beautiful and it’s a must do. Lovely experience and lots to do once at the top

Going whilst most children are at school makes this a great day out. Easy to wander about and no queues for the attractions/tours. Very interesting learning experience. Well worth a visit.

An absolute must to experience this wonderful attraction. On our visit on the 3rd of March’24 was a brilliant family day out. The cable car ride, cave experience, kids parks, cafes,gift shops and fantastic views! Great for all ages and not just children. An appreciation for all staff who were working on this particular day making it extra special 👏. A special mention for Kaleb and ‘Bill’😆 who were just exceptional when we did the cave’s experience. Great to see such enthusiasm and love for the job they do! Later I even spotted Kaleb doing a spot of bin emptying as well as him doing the cave tours…now that’s dedication for you and taking pride in the place you work. Clearly a very well run business and an owner who looks after there work force. Should be a blueprint on how a a great place should be managed. If you look after your staff they will look after your customers…quite right✅. Other organisations take note. One last mention, if you have time to head down onto North Parade along the main road through Matlock Bath, certainly worth it. We parked at the train station car park which was ideal for both the heights of Abraham and Matlock Bath. £6 all day parking and and around 5 minute walks👌

Driven/walked past the cable car so many times but had never taken the trip up. Was a great day out and would highly recommend. The cave tours were entertaining and educational. Some interesting exhibitions and great views, once the mist had lifted.

Stayed here 1 night with 2 days theme park ticket. In the Explorers Suit. Was perfect for a family 2 Adults and 3 Kids! The theme park in on a hill so steep hills, and downhill at times too! Rides were really good, waiting in queues was not bad, kids sat on many rides again. The place is perfect for kids under 10 lots and lots to do! Will highly recommend anyone thinking of coming and a bargain for 1 nights stay with 2 days theme tickets for £200! My family made a lot of memories here, it amazing for kids! ❤

Took my 2 grandsons for the day, amazing place so much to do. Workers all happy and smiley. When it started to rain ,there was indoor soft play, which kept the boys happy and entertained. No queuing. Great place for entertaining children.

A fun theme park for younger kids. Our 7 year old found most of the rides a bit tame. The parking is interesting! Don't try and park in the first section where the spaces are narrow and short. There is plenty of space in the other car parks higher up the hill. The theme park is quite hilly and steep in places, but overall not that big. The queues weren't too bad early, but by mid-afternoon they were up to 50 minutes for the more popular attractions.

A good day out. The kids loved them. Every ride is run in a way that kids can enjoy them. Moreover, the adults can accompany the kinds in most of the rides. It seems one can pack their own food and bring it in, which I thought was a good policy. Just to give a heads up, the place has some steep inclines and declines. Some might find it difficult to reach all the areas of the place. Overall it was very good.

Great fun for kids, some areas slightly tired but for price and fun son had was worth it. Accomodation on site was fun we stayed in the pirate themed cabins. Everything seemed moderately priced for a family day out.

Great fun day experience. I took my grandson, shame about the weather. Enjoyed the rides, staff were very friendly. Ate at the cafe, needs slight improvement, curry source was poor had to be thrown away. Better signage for rides QR codes did not work on my mobile. Overall, it's a good day out and great value for money.

Great place but its been forgotten by looks of it a bit run down and forgotten. Could do with a big clean, fresh paint and vegetation clearing . Some rides not working, most jcb did not work. Still it was a fun day and would recommend it!! Should be a discount in place for family tickets or small kids as could not use some rides if under 1.1meter …

Really good glacé bags of fun,great staff,reasonable prices. Only reason for a 4 * is mad parking and its built on a huge hill so loads of steep walking. I would go again cause its bags of fun, kids loved it. Go for it everyone,have a great time

Great for the kids, you can be through in half a day and enjoy more that the peaks has to offer. We however spend the whole day. My six year old had the time of her life, the staff were fantastic, the only disappointment was the state of the "restaurant"

This is a fantastic place! The whole place is built on a hill side, with rides and attractions on different levels and majestic views. The rides are suitable for all. The kids will love it. There's lots of places you can eat your own food and they have lots of snacks and hot drinks/food places. There is plenty of free parking. You'll find a lot of uphill walking, so be prepared for a few stops to take a breather! I'd recommend this place for all families with toddlers and young children.

Brilliant place to see and the kids loved the rides we was very lucky as it was predicted to be heavy rain.. so not many people. Hence the reason we did have to queue

A really great place for younger children. A few attractions were closed off and some areas looked a little tired, not sure if this is usual for out of season as it was our first visit. There's something for everyone here, and our children ran from one ride to the next the entire time. As it's located on a hillside, this helped to wear them out! Always a fab family day out at Gulliver's! Great for ages 6-9 but plenty to do if you've got younger kids too. Good range of food options, including pizzas, pastries, doughnuts, ice cream, slush. Chair lift is a good idea to get to the top or back down the hill too.

It's a lovely little park set right on the hill side and overlooks the town of Matlock bath. The park was clean and tidy and even though we went when it was busy we still managed to get on all the rides. My only reason for its 4 star rating is due to the parks age and some of the rides and themes are quite dated now but however this is reflected in the price. If you have a blue light card you can get 2 concession tickets making it slightly cheaper. Also as its set on the hillside it's very hilly and maybe not the best for wheelchair users and prams however this didn't deter people when we went. Overall a great day out and we will definitely be returning.

Took my 8 year old for his birthday with family. Advertisesd opening is 10.30am till 5.30pm, however many of the rides close at 4pm along with some of the food stalls which spoiled the final part of the day. We felt that it was mostly the gift shops remaining, obviously to encourage more spending. Food was very expensive. We took a picnic and advise you to do the same (you can leave it in your car until needed as access in/out is allowed) Very much a younger child's park (6 to 10) Not much there for older kids or young teens. Staff were friendly. Site is clean. Very hilly and not very suitable for disabled. All in all a great day, only spoiled by the somewhat falsely advertised times. We're glad we booked the whole day tickets. Word of warning - would not be worth booking the half day as you'd only have a very limited time to get on the rides that close early. 6/10 overall.

Fun day out with the family. Good variety of rides for young children. I was disappointed by some of the basics that could be spruced up a little. Quite a few parts of attractions not working in the JCB zone and other more simple push buttons activities. Some of the outside tables and seats were filthy, and considering the age of the place, the food, etc, was quite pricey. Very, very steep hills all round and not suitable for visitors struggling with mobility. Even The Rock would struggle getting around in a wheelchair here. It does close early and open later, though. Rides closed at 4 pm, even on a Thursday. All in all, would I go back? Yes, given the fun day we had and the age of our kids. Not sure I'd go during the school hols though. Going just before most schools broke up made the queue levels acceptable. Great for a 5 year old!

We booked a day out at Gullivers Kingdom Matlock Bath for our twin girls who are aged 4 years, nearly 5. We did want to go Alton Towers but the price of the tickets for under 5yrs is the same as an adults ticket which would have cost us £140 just for the tickets and that's before food, drinks and merchandise and the cost of fuel. So, seeing that we paid only £66 for four of us and we took a packed lunch to cut down on cost, we thought this would be a good day out, and the twins would love it. Park opened at 10:30am and closes at 5pm. We arrived just after opening, but even at this time, the car parks were quite full at this point. The car parks were up a slopping and winding bank and you had to walk back down the banks depending on were you parked, there were no foot paths to keep too so it was a little dangerous with children in tow. On arrival, I noticed it looked a little dated, but this was first impressions. we got to the gates, and it looked like it was being run by school / college kids 16 years onwards that looked like everything was too much like hard work. I forgot the coffee, so we decided to go and get a coffee from one of the nearby shops. Coffee signs outside, but they don't sell coffee (I thought it was a joke). Nope, the girl said you have to go to the top of the park near where you came in. So we did, and that's when we found that the shop didn't open until 12 pm (absolute joke). Luckily, we got the packed lunch for the girls and their juice, so they were okay. We walked around the park, and as I thought, everything was dated old and looked like it needed a complete overhaul. The Park it's self is situated on a bank, so lots of walking up and down slopping paths which were slippery under foot due to the moss and plant / tree debris. The toilets were awful, small and very smelly and situated next to the entrance. For us as a family, we expected better and wished we had paid the extra price to go Alton Towers. Needles to say we didn't stay as long as we expected, too, as we were very dissatisfied and disappointed with it all. This park has had its day and needs to be updated or closed, in my opinion.

We visited for the textile mill, not for the shopping. The mill was fascinating and fairly priced to explore - the gentleman giving the demonstration couldn't have been more knowledgeable. My only minor complaint would have been about the carparking arrangements - very oddly designed to get on and out of, plus there is a small fee (which you can get back if you spend in the shopping village).

Large shopping village that is in an old Arkright Cotton mill on at least four levels. There is a cafe/restaurant for just drinks or for larger meals with toilets nearby. There is a large car park but it is NOT free some of which you get back off your goods. Clothes are for both men and women, and the items sold are for a certain age group, lets say 40 and over. Kitchen wares and household sundries are also sold on one floor. Prices for most items can be rather expensive and I do feel the whole place is geared for customers with a few pennies in their pockets. There is a lift for anyone with walking difficulties and you can get to the Mill by bus with a bus stop outside

Great tour round and well worth the price. The guide Andrew was informative and funny too. Better than the Cromford Mills. Very interesting and I wish them all the success for the furure.

Sir Richard Arkwright's Masson Mill is a water-powered cotton spinning mill. The mill was built in 1783. It forms part of the Derwent Valley Mills, a WORLD HERITAGE SITE. Nearby is Willersley Castle, the house Richard Arkwright built for himself within the parish of Matlock. The retail village, never reopened following the COVID-19 pandemic. They do tours, but unfortunately for us we missed the time of the tours, (check there website before going, photo attached) there is parking at the mill, they seemed to have changed one of the buildings for the mill into a small multi storey car park.

Great place to visit especially when thwarted from hiking due to awful weather. We had a fabulous tour of the working mill by a very knowledgeable guide who really knew his subject. Highly recommend.

My wife and I went on the guided tour of Masson Mills. It was excellent, including the history, explanations and demonstrations of some working machines. The guide also demonstrated, as far as possible, just how noisy and dangerous it was back in the day. The reception area and cafe also sells some of the items and produce of the mill. I bought some of the 50p Bobbins to use in a project for my grand children. Elastic band powered, wind up tanks. They love them.

What an amazing museum! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit today. Had a cuppa and a cake in the cafe before heading off to the factory, where we saw machines in action and learnt all about the process of fabric making right from the raw material. Absolutely brilliant! Well worth the £6 per person we paid - thank you for a wonderful afternoon!

Lovely visit - thought we'd be a couple of hours but stayed all day. Alot to see for free (we didn't pay for a tour but maybe next time). Lovely walk along the canal too with a surprise dinosaur!

Fascinating Mill crammed full of significant industrial machinary used in the production of yarn to create cotton fabric. Some machines are over 150 years old and are still working. See the demonstrations and have a tour round, ask any questions you have to helpful museum staff. Limited opening hours so important to check with them. Great cafe too where you can buy your admission tickets .

There have been big changes and a lot of internet information is wrong. No shopping outlet any more. Admission to the museum is only on the 2 pm tour, best to book. Car park £3 in addition to entry fees. July 23. People with mobility issues Will have difficulty.

Kevin’s tour is a fascinating insight into such an important part of British industrial history and engineering. Worth every penny and you have the chance to buy cotton twine or a piece of fabric woven there.

Good parking. Lots of modular shops, a good tea room and the outside visit to the river and rapids is wonderful. They also have a working museum of the former life as a wool weaving plant.

Very enjoyable guided tour that shows how cloth was produced from cotton. Working machines give a great experience enabling you to imagine how harsh and noisy it was for the workers including kids working in the mills. Good cafe, wheelchair accessible.

This was a very interesting, informative though different experience than I expected, definitely worth a visit. After paying a very modest entrance fee the range of fish was surprisingly very good with detailed descriptions about each. The aquarium is not very big and upon exiting you enter the hologram exhibit.

A nice way to spend an hour or so. Just over £5 isn't bad for a small aquarium, some history, holograms, and some illuminations. It's not the greatest attraction on the planet, but it's a great little place to visit. Well worth a visit if you're in Matlock Bath.

BEST MONEY I’VE EVER SPENT! £3.80 (at the time) entry, there was so much to see and it was all amazing! They could do with a feather dusting, but you can’t complain when you pay £3.80. The value for money is great, you see the petrifying well, a wide range of fish, turtles and a large Koi pond, on top of that there’s the hologram gallery and a lil history on Matlock bath. MUST SEE in Matlock Bath.

Great displays and very nice affordable entrance fees, you are also able to feed the carp. Only a small venue but an interesting read into the history and well worth a visit :) I didn't get any photos of the holograms but they were also impressive!

Best value for money, definitely recommended. For just £3.80 per person you get a quick run through the attractions of Matlock Baths, the petrifying well and the excellent aquarium. Our 3 year old son absolutely loved the different fish and other sea life behind the glasses and was fascinated by all of the many big fish in the old Victorian swimming pool. The Holograms are brilliant too, some of which are really creepy and gave the whole family a good laugh. Definitely the best use of £3.80 entry fee, don't think I've ever paid so little for an attraction like this.

Absolutely fantastic, well worth the entrance fee, even 2 grumpy teenage boys enjoyed it, especially the illumination mirrors.

Really quirky little place, with all sorts to see incl fish, original bath (ie Matlock Bath), petrified objects, great collection of holograms, and light room. Would have given 5 stars but it has gone up by £2 pp entry in a year which is a bit steep in my opinion.

This is a lovely way to pass some time if a little dated , probably not worth the 6.50 each fee but enjoyable all the same. Plenty of history to read up on as well otherwise you will do this very quickly.

Brilliant little aquarium with a big variety of fish, turtles, axolotls and the wonderful koi pool. For £3.80 you can't go wrong. Remember to take a 50p coin so you can buy koi food from the dispenser 🐟

Visited many times good value £4.80 per adult. Takes about an hour the 19th century pool filled with koi carp is a personal favourite see video. The new light room was a nice addition too. Always visit when we go to Matlock Bath.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. Been to Matlock Bath many times but never visited the baths& aquarium. It was interesting to learn of the history behind the baths and see the old pool put to good use with the lovely koi carp. Shame they didn't tell you at the start you need 50p coin to be able to feed them, so missed out on that, but still enjoyed our time there, well worth popping in

Really enjoyed The Aquarium and Arcade. There is lots of fun for all the family, including hall of mirrors, see yourselves fat, thin, short or tall 😀. There's also a laser light hall and, of course, the beautiful Koi carp in the old Victorian baths and a collection of various other tropical fish and turtles in tanks. All these things are upstairs, there is a fee of £5.80, and downstairs, it is a normal 'seaside' arcade.

A great inexpensive way to spend a fun hour! We visited this on a whim, attracted by the idea of a petrifying well and fishes. Tickets are bought on the door and there are a number of stairs to walk up. The aquarium is small but has a great number of tanks, with a wide variety of fish and aquatic life. There are signs with information about what's contained in each of the tanks. The petrified well is worth a look, the process and items with are fascinating. There are displays of gemstones, fossils, animals and curiosities as you walk around. Following the aquarium you reach the restored Bath, with some great signage about the restoration of the baths and the huge amount of koi that now lives in it. Even as a group of 30/40 something's we very much enjoyed using the little machines to get fish food. Don't forget your 50'ps. After the Bath experience, there is a curious display of holograms, a walk of mirrors and the Illumate walkway. There is a section dedicated to the history of the Baths and Matlock. You come out into the arcade, which has a fun range of 2p & 10p cascade games, among yhe othet typical arcade features.

Matlock is beautiful and we walked up High Tor which I'd a steep climb but had plenty of benches along the way to rest if needed. Can be a but muddy in places after long periods of rainfall but this is throughout the walk and only in small areas. At the top the views are breathtaking but don't go too close to the edge. Cable cars weren't on when we went due to high winds and was told it was about 28 quid for 2 people to go up in them. There are plenty of fish and chip places along the front and arcades for those who want a quick gamble. The place was hammered when we went and thr crowds make it hard to get down the front. Seems to be popular with the motorbike folk. There are a few coffee bars and the front almost felt like the seaside without the beach. I'm not sure why they have so many arcades along the front nor what draws the crowds here as I've seen nicer places in the peaks. Overall had a good walk but not somewhere I'd stay over in as there's not really alot going on bar the caves and arcades. Also parking was a NIGHTMARE and gypsies have set up camp on the carpark.

Came here for a little date day. Just me and my partner as we were child free. :) For 5.80 each we decided to have a wonder around the aquarium. We wasn't disappointed :) we enjoyed looking at all the large and different types among fish :) They came up to the glass as if they were inspecting us as much as we were them 😁🤣 Nice bit of history. Looked at the petrifying well, Barbie has been turned to stone (can you see her 😊) Worth a look round and finish in the arcade down stairs. You have to have a fo on a 2p machine

Nice place to spend a few quid enjoying the retro atmosphere of a traditional style arcade. Simple fun like slot machines combined with a few games and the usual worthless trinkets, coupled with bright lights and music - these places just suck you in. It's very small but adds to the seaside feel of Matlock baths.

The petrifying well is underwhelming but a curiosity. Then there's a handfull of fishtanks full of cyanobacteria and lethargic fish, the old thermal pool has some Koi in it and the holograms are nothing special. £5.80 is a bit much to get out of the rain for less than an hour.

Amazing little aquarium. Under 4s go free. £5.80 for a ticket. The kids loved the light room. It is only small and we spent about half an hour here.

The experience was good and worth the money paid, the lights were a short walk and could have been more. The tanks needed a good clean on the glass which was a shame as the fish were nice. Two members of staff sat in the booth on mobile phones and didn't really interact with us which was a shame, he spoke about three words in total. Not as impressive as advertised a shame really. Two stars are for the fish.

Went to the matlock illuminations and fireworks!! Saturday night 22/10/22 .... It was absolutely awesome!! Packed full of people enjoying the floats on the river all lit up! N food n drinks outlets posted around the place....good clear tannoy announcements with music! £7.00 roughly to get in ....n fireworks at 9pm made it a fantastic night! It all started at 7pm n was on til october 31st.😉👍

Beautiful. Lovely scenery, a nice little walk. Has a great little playground for kids, and nice to walk the doggo if on a lead. We'll looked after too which is nice! There's a car park nearby and toilets aswell which is always handy.

Visited for the illuminations and night time illuminated rowing boats display. Lucky with the weather. Very good and reasonable entry charge. Lots for youngsters to do with small fun fair. Good facilities and disabled access.

The gardens themselves are beautiful and so worth visiting, there’s a couple of lovely kids playgrounds and they are really peaceful. We visited for the illuminations though, which I would say are 100% nothing special. It was expensive, and packed to the brim - no social distancing at all. Very underwhelming. More like a badly run fair than a nice illuminations event.

Beautiful gardens a little oasis. Had a walk through the park, and enjoyed seeing the rowing boats once again on the river. Really enjoyable. The illuminations are lit in the gardens from September. They have models on rowing boats displayed every Saturday in September. In October, from 9th October 2021 every Saturday they have a fireworks event together with the illuminations. Council car parks in September are free from 2pm for parking.

We visited The Gardens for Matlock Bath Illuminations, I haven't been to 'The Lights' in 50 years,it's still a great night out, well organised and a spectacle worth visiting. I admit it was a nostalgia trip for me but the kids absolutely loved it. Unfortunately the firework nights were booked right through to Oct 29th; note to self, book online in advance. The only criticism I have is, the music was beyond dreadful.

Came at the wrong time... approx 5pm on a Saturday eve, it was shoulder to shoulder and bumper to bumper. Absolutely no movement. Finally managed to get a parking space and we just walked around the river area. It was partially blocked off for an illuminatiom show. Its a very busy part, loads of cafes / fish and chips and such.

Incredibly scenic and enjoyable walk, a whole host of activities available from boat rowing to the heights of Abraham. Many shops and cafe's providing refreshment and quality food. Would recommend for someone wanting to explore nature but not be overwhelmed by a challenging hike.

Came to Matlock Bath for a look around. The lovers walks start at the main carpark and are well worth the effort. The walk I did takes you up above Matlock Bath where you have beautiful views all around as well as down. There are some very steep steps so not suitable for those with less than full mobility.

Lovely walk around Lovers Lane, we were doing a geocache (the Adventure Lab) and it took us all the way around the hills and the Derwent Gardens

Starting from the bridge at the back of Matlock Pavillion. A beautiful walk on the quieter side of the river Derwent at Matlock Bath,along here is all about nature and a relaxing walk away from the razmataz of the other bank. As you near the bridge back to the other side there a children's play area. Toilets are to the right as you step off the bridge just next to the Midland Hotel.

Sun shining, town not too crowded, drinks we had outside a small cafe were done exactly as we requested, Sticky Fig or some derivative, was the name. Not dressed for climbing hundreds of uneven steps, to somewhere with a view, so have up halfway. Coming down was worse for the wife. Matlock has one real failing, it only has one toilet next to the station car park. You will also need a 20p to get in! We still love going here.

We visited for the textile mill, not for the shopping. The mill was fascinating and fairly priced to explore - the gentleman giving the demonstration couldn't have been more knowledgeable. My only minor complaint would have been about the carparking arrangements - very oddly designed to get on and out of, plus there is a small fee (which you can get back if you spend in the shopping village).

Large shopping village that is in an old Arkright Cotton mill on at least four levels. There is a cafe/restaurant for just drinks or for larger meals with toilets nearby. There is a large car park but it is NOT free some of which you get back off your goods. Clothes are for both men and women, and the items sold are for a certain age group, lets say 40 and over. Kitchen wares and household sundries are also sold on one floor. Prices for most items can be rather expensive and I do feel the whole place is geared for customers with a few pennies in their pockets. There is a lift for anyone with walking difficulties and you can get to the Mill by bus with a bus stop outside

Great tour round and well worth the price. The guide Andrew was informative and funny too. Better than the Cromford Mills. Very interesting and I wish them all the success for the furure.

Sir Richard Arkwright's Masson Mill is a water-powered cotton spinning mill. The mill was built in 1783. It forms part of the Derwent Valley Mills, a WORLD HERITAGE SITE. Nearby is Willersley Castle, the house Richard Arkwright built for himself within the parish of Matlock. The retail village, never reopened following the COVID-19 pandemic. They do tours, but unfortunately for us we missed the time of the tours, (check there website before going, photo attached) there is parking at the mill, they seemed to have changed one of the buildings for the mill into a small multi storey car park.

Great place to visit especially when thwarted from hiking due to awful weather. We had a fabulous tour of the working mill by a very knowledgeable guide who really knew his subject. Highly recommend.

My wife and I went on the guided tour of Masson Mills. It was excellent, including the history, explanations and demonstrations of some working machines. The guide also demonstrated, as far as possible, just how noisy and dangerous it was back in the day. The reception area and cafe also sells some of the items and produce of the mill. I bought some of the 50p Bobbins to use in a project for my grand children. Elastic band powered, wind up tanks. They love them.

What an amazing museum! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit today. Had a cuppa and a cake in the cafe before heading off to the factory, where we saw machines in action and learnt all about the process of fabric making right from the raw material. Absolutely brilliant! Well worth the £6 per person we paid - thank you for a wonderful afternoon!

Fascinating Mill crammed full of significant industrial machinary used in the production of yarn to create cotton fabric. Some machines are over 150 years old and are still working. See the demonstrations and have a tour round, ask any questions you have to helpful museum staff. Limited opening hours so important to check with them. Great cafe too where you can buy your admission tickets .

There have been big changes and a lot of internet information is wrong. No shopping outlet any more. Admission to the museum is only on the 2 pm tour, best to book. Car park £3 in addition to entry fees. July 23. People with mobility issues Will have difficulty.

Kevin’s tour is a fascinating insight into such an important part of British industrial history and engineering. Worth every penny and you have the chance to buy cotton twine or a piece of fabric woven there.

Good parking. Lots of modular shops, a good tea room and the outside visit to the river and rapids is wonderful. They also have a working museum of the former life as a wool weaving plant.

Very enjoyable guided tour that shows how cloth was produced from cotton. Working machines give a great experience enabling you to imagine how harsh and noisy it was for the workers including kids working in the mills. Good cafe, wheelchair accessible.

Very Interesting place to visit. The museum is reasonably priced and definitely worth a visit if you like your history. The cave tour is good but don't expect wonders. The cave is o ly around 250 yds long but still very much worth a visit

During our stay we visited the Museum and had a chance to visit the mine. The Musem was great, full of knowledge and many examples of ore, rocks and minerals. But the highlight of this trip was Chris and the mine tour, out of all the mines we visited this one was the best, Chris has a real passion for what he does and it shows on his tours, the knowledge he shared was great and we did not feel rushed and had time to take photos and ask questions. Very educational tour.

A brilliant place to visit. Has a lot of interactive displays suitable for both adults and children. The museum covers nearly all aspects of ancient and modern mining in the area, whilst also having global ore and mineral displays. A brilliant value for money- especially if you get a museum ticket+ mine tour at once. Note that there are no toilets available on site, but there are public toilets that cost 20 pence 650m down the road. The mine tour is a brilliant way to learn more about mining in Derbyshire. The tour guide we had today was fantastic, able to answer all of our questions and more! They offer hard hats for safety, and small children (not babies) can still go as they have hats sized for little heads. For those concerned about safety- after the mine closed operations and became a tourist attraction 40 years ago, there have been no movements in the caves walls or ceilings. I would like to say a special thank you to the staff who were very friendly today who were wonderful to talk to and offer a wealth of information to learn from!!

Really interesting and lots to see. With some interactive exhibits and and interesting facts was a really fun hour walking around. Not overpriced and the gift shop had plenty of gems and rocks that were actually very competitively priced. Solid ☆☆☆☆☆

We only stopped because it was raining but we are very happy we did. Great value for money at £11.50 each for over 60s. This included the excellently designed and presented museum along with a great guided tour of the mine that is across the road. It does involve some stooping as you walk in the shafts and walking boots recommended. The guide was very informative and had a nice delivery and knowledge. I highly recommend this as a place to stop. The cafe across the road the 196 coffee lounge was very good.

This was a real treasure to find! We popped into the museum on the off chance and what a good time we had!! The museum itself is great for adults and children with lots of child friendly activities, including tunnels to explore! We also went into the old mine and it was excellent. Our tour guide was outstanding, loads of knowledge, patiently answered everyone’s questions and had a great sense of humour. Wear good shoes as it was a bit wet and sloppy inside the mine! We even got to pan for gold at the end which my oldest child loved. The mine is quite accessible for those who need walking aids, but not for wheelchairs and pushchairs as there are some steps. A really great experience for the whole family!

A very interesting and informative museum, combined with a super exciting trip down an old mine. A genuinely great way to share a couple of hours with gran, grandad and our 11 year old son. The tour of the mine on an otherwise rainy and grey day, was fantastic!

My partner & I visited the museum and temple mine yesterday. The museum was absolutely amazing. So informative and very interactive. We were able to go through little tunnels and ladders located within the museum which allowed us to see what work life was like as a miner. It was by far the best museum we have visited till date. There was this lovely lady behind the counter, who was so helpful and so welcoming. We also had a mine tour by Chris. Chris is so knowledgeable and the tour he took us on was absolutely amazing. Chris himself made the whole experience brilliant. After the tour we were given the opportunity to sieve and take home what we found. We will definitely be visiting soon again. Hopefully in the summer! A massive thank you to Chris, the lovely lady in the museum & the community keeping it all alive. Michael & Anita x

Fantastic museum, the collection of minerals is great as well the interactive parts. My kids really enjoyed the visit. Also I highly recommend Temple Mine tour, it’s worth taking.

Very interesting place with loads of informative exhibits. The outside is quite small but huge on the inside. Did the mine tour as well, which was quite an experience and well worth doing with a very experienced guide.Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Visited the museum and Temple Mine with the kids and had a really good time. Was expecting a rather dry museum about mining and consequent whining from the children while we waited for the mine-tour, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The museum has a good number of interactive exhibits but also has a number of 'hidden' mine passages built into the walls. The kids absolutely _loved_ these and kept vanishing into one hole only to reappear elsewhere in the museum. The tour of Temple Mine was really well done. The mine is fairly small (or at least the bits accessible on the tour) but our guide was entertaining and knowledgeable and really brought the place to life. You also get to pan for 'gems' at the end of the tour (nothing valuable, but plenty of iron pyrite which glistens and fascinates the kids - you get to take away anything you find in a (provided) Ziploc bag). The museum and mine far exceeded my expectations and made for a really good couple of hours out.

My son enjoyed crawling through the sample mineshafts in the museum, daughter not so much! Informative place, and lots of rocks on show. We also did the temple mine tour led by Tony who was a font of knowledge and entertaining.

Chris guided us and our crew through the Temple Mine Tour which was an excellent experience. Going through the history and geology of the region, and bringing it home with the Temple Mine itself, which started as a limestone quarry, turned to a lead vein that turned into Fluorspar and potentially ending at gold. Educational, fun and great for everyone from the kids to the professional geologist!

A wonderful museum and tour of the mine. We didn't prepare enough time for the museum which had so many artifacts and information. We will return again for sure. There are tunnels throughout for children to clamber through which is a great idea. Interactive exhibits. We went on the tour with Chris who was very good. He listened to the children and answered as many questions as he could. The mine was interesting to see and lots to learn about. Ending with some panning which again was a great idea for the children. This will be a memorable visit for anyone who visits. And very good value for money. I really recommend a visit here.

Fantastic museum which I remember vaguely as a child so took my own children to visit during the Easter holidays. The museum itself is set up really well with so much information and several activity sheets for children to do. I had one finding canaries and the other finding mice which they thoroughly enjoyed. However the activity sheets were trumped when they discovered the mining tunnels throughout the museum that they could climb through and investigate. We absolutely loved our visit and would highly recommend a visit for anyone interested in the history of mining as well as Derbyshire. We were lucky enough to be able to book onto a mine tour later in the day which was so informative. The tour guide was a young guy with an obvious passion for the mine and had so many interesting facts for children and adults alike. The mine tour was then followed by an opportunity for the children to pan for ‘gold’ which they really enjoyed and were able to take some ‘gold’ home. I would recommend booking the mine tour early as we visited midweek on a rainy day when Matlock wasn’t busy at all and managed to just get spaces on the 2pm tour (I think they run 2-3 a day for approximately 20ish people). Overall we all had a fantastic time, the staff were so lovely and brilliant at talking to the kids as well as being so knowledgable for the adults too. I would highly recommend and will visit again (not tomorrow however which is what my 6yo has asked to do).

The museum features a lot of artefacts from mining history. There are plenty of interactive experiences (for kids). Highlight is the visit to the mine - 1h + 30min experience sieving through minerals worth booking in advance or arrive at opening time. The staff is deeply knowledgeable and helpful.

Beautiful building, cafe is lovely but the actual pavilion where the theatre auditorium lives is freezing. Take extra layers though as it's worth it.

Walking solo this morning, very nice place. It's the 2nd time I've visited. Very nice friendly staff

Great food here suit everyone from full English breakfast to sourdough toasties brie cheese relish thvegan toasties bacon and tuna melt the lot scrambled egg with salmon or without loads of food to go with it so reasonably priced to coffee wow best coffee ever recommend this restaurant

The Grand Pavilion Cafe is fantastic. We visitied for the first time today and enjoyed a Latte with smashed avocado on toast. It was delicious! The staff are really friendly and the food is great. Big portions, top quality. It's our new favourite cafe in Matlock Bath!

Nice to see the old building being resurrected. Go give your support and for those old enough remember the dances.

After a wet walk with the dog I found shelter here with most of the shops shut or not welcoming dogs. The cafe here was brill, warm and inviting. They let us hand our coats near the radiator and I ordered a latte and lovely bacon and bree toasty. The staff were kind and friendly and I would recommend coming here if you are passing through the area.

Absolutely delicious breakfast. Avocado and salmon were 10/10. Great atmosphere and dog friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Called a few times now great place to call for a coffee and cake other food also on the menu can recommend the bacon sandwiches. Very friendly staff and dog friendly

Had a bacon sandwich and coffee - lovely bread and have to give the Americano with hot milk 10/10 - well done! One complaint - wife had scone with jam and crème - glass jar of jam with metal lid, plastic tub for crème and two plastic tubs of butter - unacceptable single use disposable waste and I’m not an eco warrior!

Visited on Friday 22nd April. The shop is lovely. Beautiful clothes and very reasonable prices. A great selection for men and women. The visit was let down by the surly male assistant. No greeting at all . My grandson said hi and was ignored. I too was ignored. We were the only customers in the shop so he was not busy. Due to the guys attitude the atmosphere was hostile and I felt like a nuisance. I really wanted to buy a beautiful dress ( I nearly returned for it ) but genuinely didn't want to hand over my cash to such a cold unfriendly person. I won't return. Shame because the clothes are lovely and I could have spent alot here.

The staff were so lovely at reception and in the bar, the hotel itself was beautiful the only problem was the room, they definitely need updating and some double glazed windows! It was freezing in our room and the carpet had loads of stains, also the beds weren't really comfortable! We were in a room with a balcony so I'm not sure if they've done other rooms up already.

Firstly, Thank you for hosting the Hornsea mermaids! The location is perfect. The room we had was overlooking the pool with fab views. The room was tidy and adequate. It would benefit from better staffing levels ( which I know is challenging right now) The bed linen was spotless and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was lovely with a fair choice. Again the staff were lovely. Reception were cheerful and happy to help. All in all a good choice.

Came here for my Birthday Sunday-Tuesday and on arrival it looked lovely, inside was even better. Very clean and tidy and staff were very friendly. We had a superior room which gave us a lovely view of the outdoor pool and garden area, had that holiday feeling. Our room was beautiful, very comfortable bed, very clean and spacious with plenty of tea, coffee, milk etc.. a short walk down the road was the village with plenty of chip shops and amusements and things to do. Absolutely wonderful, I was a bit gutted I couldn't be fitted in for a massage but we paid extra to have use of the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room which was nice still. Will definitely be coming back.

Elegant, period building in a beautiful setting and surrounded by ancient woods. The room was stylish and very clean; the bed comfortable though quite firm for myself, and thoughtfully furnished. The staff at reception were welcoming and efficient and the general manager could not do enough to make us feel looked after. The hotel had recently been taken over by new management and the efforts to accommodate the guests were evident when we asked to add wines to the limited list and were rewarded with a greater choice the following evening. The food was outstanding, ox cheek was my favourite. The morning self service buffet was generous and well presented,The serving staff were energetic but lacked polish when serving food. I am sure in time this will be rectified by the new team. Altogether a great place to start touring the Peaks. list and

When we arrived we were given an uncleaned room when we informed them they gave us a spacious room. The floor made a lot of creaking as they were really old. The bath wouldn't drain the water so was flooding while I was having a shower...the continental breakfast was croissant, toast jam and cheese. The spa was fully booked. Definitely not worth the £150 per night fee.

Great hotel, we stayed in the rooms around the back and honestly, easier to park and get to your rooms. Friendly and welcoming greetings and check in on day one. We enjoyed the drinks in the bar after coming back from a evening out. Rooms are comfortable, clean and tidy. Good location for exploring Matlock Baths which is 10 min walk away. Very reasonably priced and great value for money on a weekday. Not sure what the pricing is like on a weekend. Access to the Hotel Lido... which is must do... do brave the cold and have a dip... it's exhilarating. See my other review on the New Bath Lido.

Great location for exploring. The staff at the Bath Spa Hotel could not have been more friendly, helpful and accommodating. I asked Jean on reception who was very kind and helpful if she was able to call for a taxi and there was no availability she called the manager and he himself took me to which I was extremely grateful.! The rooms were very nice and the beds were very comfortable. I would certainly stay there again. Elizabeth

Only visited the pool. Lovely experience. Water is very clean (and cold, obviously) and it's so nice to swim in water that doesn't have chlorine. Life guards are a good laugh and very friendly and helpful, and easy going. Changing spaces and toilets were clean, and generally the place just had a nice vibe to it. Plenty of parking, not too busy. We enjoyed it very much and will be back. Tenner is not cheap for a regular swim but it makes it a treat to visit. No faff.

Only a one night stay so we could take in the Christmas market, my wife myself and two friends, we really enjoyed our stay in our big spacious rooms looking over the swimming pool. Unfortunately the overnight snow put a bit of a dampener on our planes to take in more of the beautiful local area, leaving for home shortly after checking out. Thank you to the team for digging everyone out of the carpark, well done.

Nice location polite and welcoming staff. What let it down was was that the Room felt tired and in need of redecoration. It had very creaky floors and had damage to furniture, there were stains on bed and carpet and a missing mirror. The view from window of the spa area and roof tops was sub optimal. No option for traditional English breakfast but if you like cold meat and cheese with salad and selection of bread to start your day then this wont be a problem for you. Dinner in the restaurant was very nice and reasonably priced. The room just wasn't up to our expectations. A shame as this could be a really nice place with the right investment and attention to detail. We didn't try any of the spa treatment or facilities and weren't even offered a list of what was on offer which seems like a missed opportunity for them.

Lovely one night stay. The hotel is in a great location, a short walk from the shops, cafes and some lovely walks. The hotel itself was lovely. Staff were so friendly and helpful, especially the lady on the bar. Room was warm and comfortable and we really appreciated the extra heater. Shower was so good! Room was a bit dated but we really didn’t mind. We used the pool which was fab. Staff there were so lovely too. Really recommend for a good value stay in Matlock bath!

If i could score it zero I would. In order to actually use the sauna and steam room you need to book about a month in advance, so not very good if you are looking to just go away for the weekend. If you want to eat in their restaurant you have to get their before 7pm, as they refuse any walk ins after that. We stayed in an annexed part of the hotel that resembles an old school, and our hotel room has a locked adjoining door to the room next to us. The double bed consisted of two mattresses, there was a fire escape door directly outside our room which was open, making the room cold. Also, they do not put the heating on after 9pm, so our room was freezing. Spoke to the lady at reception, and she was very unapologetic. Her attitude was basically, well go somewhere else then. I am going to write this on as many feedback forums as I can to save future guests having to experience this. Also, the hotels Google advert says it has an indoor pool however- apparently it has not had an indoor pool for over 6 months. The hotel advert also says each room has a rainfall shower, ours just had a standard shower.

The room we had in the annexe was spacious with a lovely large bathroom. The beds were comfortable. The house staff, on the 2nd morning made sure we had everything we need without being intrusive. It was however a little tatty around the edges. The heated towel rail was broken, scuffed and tatty bases to the beds. The staff we spoke to were pleasant and helpful. We would have appreciated it if they had told us to drive the car around to the annexe car park when we arrived instead if us carrying our luggage around to the annexe After an evening stroll we came back when it was dark and the lampposts were not working leaving us to walk up the rough unmade road in the dark. The highlight was the outdoor pool and the staff in there. Really welcoming and friendly. We did not have breakfast there as there was only a continental option available. Nor did we eat in the restaurant. The short walk into Matlock Bath was worth it to see the seaside town nowhere near the sea!

This hotel is advertised as “up market”, yes there is a pool which is quite nice, but that’s where it stops. I paid £107 for a double room with balcony, the photos on the website were misleading to say the least. Our room was in the back annex part of the hotel, which had not been made clear upon booking - only upon arrival did we find we were staying in what was essentially a second thought - a means for the hotel to make more money. The room was small and needed modernising, painting and cleaning. Grubby carpets, peeling wall paper, loose screws on light fixtures and unclean (mouldy) sealant in the bathroom. The service on the day of arrival was ok - after discussing the misleading room photos and asking for an upgrade to what I had paid for, the woman on reception was apologetic. She informed me that there was a wedding on at the venue over her weekend and there was no room available to be upgraded to - disappointing. She said that she would pass on my comments to management, who I’d be able to speak to the next morning. This did not happen however, and in the morning when asked by a different woman on reception “how was your stay?” I replied that the room was not as expected, to which she agreed “yeah it’s not very nice out the back rooms” - a baffling lack of consideration to customer service. I have attached photos of the room, and I can assure anyone reading this that it was absolutely not worth the hefty price tag for just one night. Disappointing to say the least.

Really lovely hotel. Staff extremely helpful & the pool is incredible. Only issue was the breakfast which was very basic (no hot food at all) and very understaffed so a lot of the items had run out (croissants/yoghurt/butter) and replenishment was very slow. Other than that our stay was great.

The first room we had was spacious with views of the outdoor pool, however it was extremely cold. We asked at reception and were informed the heating was on a timer and only comes on 6pm to 10pm and again in the morning. Thankfully they were able to find us another room in the main part of the hotel. As we walked from one part to the other even the corridors felt warmer. The rooms were adequately furnished, the bathrooms very stylish. There's an amusing warning about the sash windows , advising you to be cautious. The food in the restaurant was not good. A burned bun and undercooked burger. We didn't have time to complain and request another meal; as we had tickets for a gig in Matlock. The hotel package days breakfast included. We expected it to be a cooked breakfast and were disappointed to find it was only continental. However there was a good selection of pastries, Cereal and fruit. It was good to see a seperate section for those who require gluten free options including a seperate toaster. In summer the outdoor heated pool would be delightful, there were 3 or 4 swimmers using it whilst we were there. Its heated by thermal springs and was not a comfortable temperature unless you are used to wild swimming. The location of the hotel is great, a 5 minute walk into Matlock. Cross to the other side of the road and turn left. The pavement on this side if the road stops abruptly. We enjoyed our stay. If we came again we would request a room in the main hotel and eat elsewhere.

We'd booked a super posh new year meal and hotel stay here. Really top notch, fantastic welcome, room was lovely as was the six course meal and complimentary drinks. Good disco afterwards to see in the new year. The staff are lovely people, fun and friendly and can't do enough for you. We were both really impressed. The hotel is majestic and full of atmosphere. The hotel is apparently under new ownership. The only area they need to focus on is the information provided during the booking process. This left us with a few questions about the booking and event, which weren't answered until we arrived. Otherwise, brilliant..

An indifferent stay. Arrived Friday and greeted by three on reception (two were immaculately dressed and one who looked like the uniform hadn't seen an iron for weeks. Told that the bar was not serving food due to a medical emergency, so we walked down into the town for food and drink. That suited us, as the bar looked dead. Room was quite basic, especially as we paid more than the other hotels in the area, thinking we would be getting more for our money. Breakfast was included and there was a hot buffet, although the beans my wife had on the first morning were cold. She reported it and eventually a new batch were brought out. Bacon and sausages were good. But the scrambled eggs left a lot to be desired. All in all, we had a good weekend in Matlock, but in spite of the hotel, not because of it.

Took my niece from the US for a facial here on 24/3/24 as part of her 21st present. How embarrassing. The place is a dump. The facial was the worst. I booked here because in the past I’ve had fantastic treatments & experiences but haven’t been for a few years, no idea what’s happened but it was awful. The “spa” itself was actually filthy and looked run down. I was given a damp towel and robe, both looked like they needed washing. The staff looked miserable and cheap. The lockers didn’t have keys and after asking they explained that a hen party had been in a few weeks back & stolen them all…well get them replaced! The changing rooms were pointless, pokey and stank because they were basically a toilet area with some unusable lockers. The “relaxing” area where you can lie while waiting was run down and certainly not in anyway relaxing.There was a couple who I guess were using the facilities as part of their stay at the hotel and they were there when we entered and still there when we left. It just felt uncomfortable having a man half dressed lounging in close proximity. The “water station” was two, relatively empty, dirty jugs. As for the treatment, wow, it was so bad! Firstly a young woman tried to explain what the treatment would consist of, but kept forgetting, while we stood awkwardly in the treatment room. The treatment itself was ridiculous. A facial where each product was not taken off and just felt like the most sticky awful buildup. It was applied like the beautician was scared to touch my face. The neck and shoulder “massage” was so ridiculously “light”, I could barely feel it and I got more stressed during and after it. The head massage consisted of dumping something akin to goose fat at the front of my hair and gently rubbing down a handful of hair at the front. All I could think when the treatment was taking place was, please let it just be my beautician that’s new and inexperienced and my niece is having the older more experienced woman who will be doing a great job. Nope! My niece was like…was that supposed be a gentle tickling session on only the front part of my cheeks and is my face supposed to feel sticky? Turns out we had exactly the same experience….terrible! The most annoying thing is they get you to fill out a huge form before the treatment highlighting where you have n concerns that you’d like tackling. They clearly just use that as a data gathering exercise because not one of my concerns were discussed or addressed. Both my niece and myself had unusual breakouts the next day. Absolutely shocking place, would not recommend and will never waste my money there again! Giving it 1 star is 1 too many!

Lovely 1 night stay here. Room was well maintained. Beds were very comfortable, full bath in bathroom in a standard twin. Staff were welcoming and helpful. We went for a dip in the thermal outdoor pool, it's was a chilly 17.7 degrees so brace yourself and recommend having spare clothes you can quickly throw on to keep warm. You need flip flops and swim hats but there were spares available. Short walk into town down a slight incline on pavements. A gentle uphill on the return. Plenty of parking.

The short of it is don't go!! Six of us booked an afternoon cream tea spa. Including two vegans. We checked and double checked they could cater for vegans....The hotel got the timing wrong re treatments and cream tea. We weren't told we could use the outside pool. The afternoon tea was awful. Defrosted scones, some with chocolate chips. They tried to pass off the vegan scones with nothing on them. No explanation or apology until we complained. Today we've been told our promised refund won't happen. The spa was ok, but honestly just go somewhere else.....

Very very disappointed with this supposedly 4 star hotel. We were booked into a garden room over looking the pool and gardens. Nice you say. NO. It was a run down 2 storey wooden prefab building, built circa 1970 and not touched since. We made our way back to the main building and was told by reception, I knew you would be back. If they know its well below standard then know it down, before it falls down. I can't fault the staff as they quickly found us another room. However, the reception needs re painting as stained and paint peeling off. Our new room was much better but still had its faults. Carpet wasn't hoovered, wall paper peeling off the feature wall, draw knobs missing off draws, bathroom was tired as shower leaked badly, grouting missing from floor tiles, pushdown bath plug didn't work and the water dribbled out of sink tap. Our first night we ate in the hotel and decided to have a bar meal. When asking for the menu the bar manager said he has just told the chef to go home as we were the only people there. He rushed off to get him to cook us a burger and chips, something quick and easy. Well the burger was rock hard and like leather, the chips were anaemic and presented like a cheap cafe. We had booked an indian for the next night but on Saturday we had booked a table in the hotels restaurant. Blade of beef with potatoe fondant and 2 rock-hard glazed carrots braised cabbage with jus. It was presented well but below standard, I feel. I understand the hotel was refurbished in 2016 and probably looked great. 8 years on, its looking tired. Would not stay here again. The saving grace for the business was the staff. Such a shame as it was a weekend away for my good lady's 60th Birthday weekend.

Top venue for my daughter’s birthday party at the weekend. The softplay is great fun and the food was nice and plentiful (pizza, chips, crispy chicken, fish finger and home made cake and cookies). The staff are really friendly and worked hard to make sure everything was done well. Can’t fault the price for the party, also very reasonable. I’ve been coming to this place for years with my children and it is never a letdown. Will be back soon.

Where to start... we booked a joint exclusive birthday party early January for March the 16th and paid £50 deposit. We had spoken to the manager Keith about food to which we decided to cater ourselves, spoke about the capacity, which was advised up to 60 children and where the children would eat, which was mentioned the party room. Upon booking the party the soft play was fully functioning with a full seating area. The manager called me on the 20th February to advise the soft play is being refurbished and that the insurance wouldn't cover them to open. Slightly irritated as we had already sent the invites out. The manager did apologise unempathetically and offer us a refund of our deposit, however this was too late notice for us to get somewhere else so we decided to reschedule for the week after. We had 45 children coming to the party, which meant telling 45 parents that the date had been rescheduled, which in its self wasn't an easy job. 3 days before the party, the manager called me to confirm booking details. The day before the party, a friend of mine who was attending another party earlier that day at Peak adventure, called me to ask if our party was still going ahead. When i asked why, she informed me that apparently it was still a building site and that the the other party had been cancelled. I called the manager, who advised that the other parent cancelled due to work still being carried out, but reassured me, that this wouldn't be there for our party. The day of the party.... me and my friend arrived half an hour early to set up, when we arrived half of the building was still being worked on. The toddler bit was a building site, which granted were closed off but because of this we had lost at least half of the seating area. We asked to set up the party room with tablecloths, food, balloons and cake, to which the manager advised that we couldn't as it was included in our exclusive pack. This is not what we were advised on our initial booking back in January. We asked the manager why we couldnt use the party room for food when he advised this was included. And he just kept repeating himself stating its not included in our package and that the party room was all set for a party at 10.30 the following day. Understandably, we were distressed. We had 40+ children plus parents with half a seating area due to the building work, we didn't know where we were going to sit everyone when it came to have the food. We had a look in the party room, and all that was set up were paper plates... When trying to discuss all these issues with the manager, he was very short and rather obnoxious. We booked a party based on what we saw and was advised back in January, this is not what we got. Please don't get me wrong, the rest of the staff, we're lovely, helpful and accommodating, however we feel let down and ripped off with only £25 deducted which the manager advised this was for rescheduling... The new layout means there is a lot less space for parents. There are fewer tables, and they're now pushed closer together. Also because of the renovations the view of the softplay is obstructed so unless you're sat on a couple of specific tables there's no way you can see your children on the top two levels of the softplay from the seating area. I had to ask several times for a contact number for the managers superior to make a formal complaint, to which he left me a generic email address at the end of the party.

Really good for little ones, brought our 5 year old daughter here and she been playing in the play area for hours, we've had a meal each and drinks and it's all really reasonable. Very clean and all the staff are really helpful and nice

Lovely play frame and staff but I think It could do with a deep clean, and perhaps a juggle round of seating area- very hard to negotiate the jungle of tables especially with a pram. Quite disappointed with the food portions. Ordered my girl the pizza meal and literally a 1/4 slice pizza with chips and beans. She was still hungry. I understand the cost etc but I'd rather pay more and have a substantial meal.

Brilliant reasonably priced soft play. Staff friendly. Food nice & lots of snacks for children. Toilets also clean. Visited on a Saturday afternoon & not too busy.

I'm a bit late in posting this review. We visited peak adventure back at the beginning of January 2024. My son is physically disabled and walks with a walking frame. We chose a later play time so that it would be less busy. My son and daughter had a blast, the venue was well cleaned, as a mum who's son has to crawl around this is a big deal. The staff were friendly and welcoming. It was good value for money and we will definitely visit again.

Hands down the worst experience I have ever had at a soft play. After playing with my children for over an hour, I was approached by staff and accused of being a random stranger who had made his way into the centre without any children. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I was gobsmacked. The resulting confrontation made me and my family feel extremely uncomfortable and we had to leave with everyone watching us. In hindsight, I’m concerned that the staff think this situation is possibly - they clearly have little faith in their own security protocols. My children were very upset when we left.

We had our daughter’s birthday party here today. From booking the party a few months ago the staff I have spoken with have been fantastic and very clear with what is provided. I had a phone call the day before to confirm all the information from Emily, this was very reassuring to know that everything was organised. They provide party invitations, party bags with a free return pass for all of your guests, a party room, two hours of play and really lovely hot food followed by homemade cake and chocolate chip cookies, unlimited juice. We arrived early and were welcomed in by Emily and a male member of staff they were really polite and made a fuss of our girls which was lovely, we were shown to our party room and a few of our guests also arrived early they were all allowed in to play. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful they all asked regularly if we needed any tops ups, if we had enough food,there was plenty even for the adults to snack on, it was all lovely and all the kids had a brilliant time on the soft play. We would recommend the centre to all our friends and family and we will be coming again for a play soon. Thank you all for your hard work today and for making our daughter’s birthday party stress free and fun.

Love this place for the kids. The facilities are great for young children, and easy to keep an eye on the children in the soft play. Plus, the staff are super friendly and helpful. Our 'go-to' on a miserable day.

Thought we would pop in for an hour so our little one could burn off some energy but we were told they were at capacity. On the way in we actually at to let out a lady with 4 children to come past us, so I don’t see how there’s not capacity for more when 4 have just left. They was at least 10 x free tables as well and looked nowhere near full. Went to the little monkeys place at Darwin Forest park and they were a heck of a lot busier and still were letting people in. Nice food and good facilities. Go there instead if you value your time.

We had my now 4 year olds birthday party at this soft play on the weekend - brilliant venue, helpful staff and food was great with other parents commenting on the good buffet selection. Don’t have any complaints! Underrated soft play. Thank you 😊

We had the 7th birthday party of one of our sons here and it was well organised, good food, lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. We’re already thinking about holding the birthday party of one of our other sons here as well. Highly recommended.

Wonderful 5th birthday party! Perfect venue for our sons birthday party. It’s a great soft play, fantastic food and super helpful and friendly staff. Good value and will definitely be back! Face painting here today and the young lady doing it was really good and very kind and chatty with the children. Thanks so much!

Great soft play. Many levels of fun in the equipment. Some of the slides are quiet steep, so little ones need an eye keeping on them. Our group of little ones loved it. The seating area may look a little tired, but that's not why you go.

What a great find! Good value, staff worked really hard and were super helpful and friendly despite it being so busy (would recommend booking in advance) Food was freshly cooked, piping hot and very good value. Took a friend's kids and they had a wonderful time on the brilliant play equipment. Very lucky to have this in the Peaks and will definitely go again when babysitting. Thank you!

Arrived to find the baby’s play area had been ripped out and was a building site, no mention of this on their website. Staff were fairly unhelpful and disinterested. We were also informed they were closing at 2.30 despite the website and Google saying 5pm. Completely wasted journey.
