The ashram is well maintained and very clean. There are so many Arte facts that symbolizes so many important events in the Indian freedom struggle. The galleries are amazing and so informative. Me and my friends visited the ashram for our project and we were amazed to find so detailed information. I especially liked the timelines, they just take you back in time. Anyone who wants to know about our proud history and Gandhi's amazing and simple life should visit the ashram. The river gives a nice and calming view as well.

The place is really good on the bank of Sabarmati river, On Riverfront. there are limited car parking, it seems around 20 cars. Atmosphere inside the "Ashram" is very calm and healing, Few things missing like all audio visual panels to share info graphic information was in OFF state. Suggestion: It would be better to install and utilize solar energy for Ashram.

We visited the Ashram while me and my friend were on our all India tour. The ashram is well maintained and has captured significant moments from the past that depict Gandhi's contribution and personality well. It's a good place to hang around too if you want some personal quite time. There is ample parking available. Best to visit before 5PM since it closes by 6PM. This is a simple, beautiful and serene place, especially in the early morning and around dusk. There's a huge amount of history here and they have presented it in the museum in the form of many photos, letters, snippets and objects. Just taking a walk around the place and sitting for a few minutes on the riverfront or the lawns feels peaceful.

Good spot to learn about the life and legacy of Ghandhi. I wish there were more interactive features. The gift shop could also use some more non-literary items.

If you are Gandhi fan and want to know anything about him from the beginning. This is the place. This place has free parking, no entry fees and huge space to explore. Good for kids in school and travellers from outside India. Recommended to those who are interested. 👍🏻

It's a serene experience. Beautiful river view. Museums. You will get to see different Spinning wheels from Gandhi's time. People here consider him equivalent to god I guess since I saw few elderly women touching his feet ,folding hands Infront of his statute for blessing. Gandhi's house was there. If your are curious enough to visit. Spotted some foreigners too. Anyway ,great couple spot. It's a big place without much disturbance. So can take your girlfriend and spend some time talking in the staircase ,looking at the Sabarmati river. Overall experience is good inside the Ashram. But not outside it. You can't find a restaurant nearby. So have your breakfast,lunch before going.

Sabarmati Ashram is located on the bank of sabarmati river, 6 km from the town hall. This was one of the many residences of Mahatma Gandhi lived at sabarmati and sevagram. calm, clean,well maintained place with nature blessed ashram with river and trees. Gandhi Museum with several historical movements with photos and illustrations. Good place with traveller friends and family. All amenities like reading room, clean wash rooms and place to relax.. Nice place to visit and spend 3 to 4 hours to learn and life of Mahatma.

It's our regular hangout place. It's better to drive here through 2 wheelers instead of a car. Police may get you a penalty ticket if you park outside around the road. You can walk around a bit at night time. You can jog or excercise in the morning and you can ride a bicycle as well. You may wanna try sitting at a quite and peaceful place instead of crowded place. A lot people come here with their families and their partners too.

The riverfront is nice but the accessibility is a bit hectic. If an old person wants to visit the place there are no amenities one has to walk a long distance. There is a facility of using bikes. But what's the point if one has to return the same place after the ride.it would have been better if the bike points have a linkage from one to others . There's a boat rides too which follows the same facility as bikes.Overall its nice place to visit but when one has spent so much on the development of waterfront. Its better to overlook the accessibility in the development too.

Sabarmati Riverfront is a waterfront being developed along the banks of Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad, India. Proposed in the 1960s, the construction began in 2005. One of the best visiting places in Ahmedabad is the Sabarmati River Front. I literally spent hours sitting by the river, feeling the mild breeze and enjoying the sunset. They made a park also. Which wasn't the centre of attraction for me. Rather, I enjoyed the sitting area and the walking/running path made around the river. Many people go for morning/evening walks as I sat there and saw. A place for good vibes indeed.

Very nice Place to visit With Friends and Family.  the Ahmedabad Flower Show has become one more unique attraction of the city people look for. This annual event was started in 2013 with an aim to make people aware of horticulture, nature, and environment. Citizens are educated on the subjects like how to do roof top gardening, prepare garden in office, net house, kitchen gardening etc. Must visit the 2024 New Year celebration.

Sabarmati riverfront is very good riverfront in the Gujarat and it is known for boating,gaming zone,food zone and for fun in the Gujarat. Very fine structure is made in the riverfront. But nowadays it not maintained properly and got dirty with plastics and many dirty things. It is very big riverfront and also you can enjoy your holiday here with your family and the friends. Riverfront contains quite good parking area. On the Sunday it is full with people. You should visit at least for one time.

✍🏻The Sabarmati river is a monsoon-fed river which has a total catchment area of 21,674 square kilometres (8,368 sq mi). The Dharoi Dam constructed in 1976 upstream of Ahmedabad controls water and protects from flooding while Vasna Barrage constructed in 1976 downstream retains water in the river along the city banks and diverts it through Fatehwadi canal for irrigation. The Narmada Canal, which crosses Sabarmati a few kilometres upstream from the city, is part of a larger canal network of Sardar Sarovar Dam. The canal can feed excess water to the river and maintains the level of water in the river which is retained through Vasna Barrage. The Sabarmati Ashram will be also connected to lower promenade and existing steps will be developed as an amphitheater. The 3.3 ha Heritage Plaza along the city walls between Ellis Bridge and Nehru Bridge will be designed as open space showcasing heritage, history and culture of the city. If you are new to this city then probably you will find difficulty in car and bike but this place is fully equipped with multistorey car and bike parking exactly opposite to this park entry and from this parking you can directly enter into the park premises from the first floor. Outside eatables are allowed and food served on this site probably you may not like it and so suggestions take it from outside.

Such a wonderful place. Calm and serene. The riverfront sides have cycle rental facilities which seemed a bit costly. However its worth it. The view of atal bridge from the riverfront is so good. I have lot of good memories in this place.

The riverfront on Sabarmati River has given new identity to Ahmedabad. The Riverfront has quickly become popular hangout destination for Amdavadis. I lived in Ahmedabad from 1979 to 1994 before moving to US. But, today’s Ahmedabad is completely different and has transformed into one of the best cities in India. The major credit goes to Sabarmati Riverfront. Since, there are not many public parks in the city, the Riverfront has become major attraction both for locals and tourists. To my surprise, the gardens were well maintained and reasonably clean. The Atal walking bridge is part of the whole riverfront project and connects the East and West of Sabarmati Riverfront. The colorful walking bridge is like a tail of the kite (kite flying is very popular here). You can view the beautiful river and city lighting from the bridge and relax on the benches (if you find a place). The negative side of the place is that it is too crowded to sit and relax. It is hard to take pictures without photobombing. The place could have been much cleaner. Everything looked dusty. If you are in Ahmedabad, it is recommended to visit in the evening time.

Kudos to AUDA for the development they have done. Amazing work done. Looks like you are in a new country. Also the people of Ahemdabad are too kind, helpful and jolly who supported the system in keeping this place and setting a benchmark. Delhi should also work on such things and make masterpieces in Delhi also. Online tickets are available and parking is free. Please note free parking as there are people asking money for the parking and running a scam.

Build around the sabarmati river, it is a paradise for walkers and people who want to spent some time together. Both electric and normal cycles for rent available. There was previously boating now I think it's stopped. A small cruise boat for large crowds is available though.

AMAZING ❤️🤩 I went here with my aunts and mom. It was so clean! The food was DELICIOUS! I especially enjoyed the night zoo and the boat riding. The best weather to go there is cloudy weather. You can get amazing pics of the lake! They also take safety precautions during boating and you have to wear a life jacket. The toy train ride is also cool

Such a wonderful and beautiful place to visit, lots of fishes enjoy in the lake, you can enjoy boating here obviously on paid basis, even you need to pay for entry in Lake premises. Ideal place for walking but you have to ignore couples (who treat this place as a sasta OYO😀).

This is the best place for family and especially for children there is Zoo, toy train and other fun Activity, on weekends this place has a huge rush, one thing I notice here is every single thing is more expensive than other places it will start from parking ticket to a single water bottle. The entry fee for the lake is Rs 10 per person. It is better to scan the QR code present at the entry gate and buy the tickets for the lake and the zoo to avoid the hassle of standing in a queue. Ample parking is available from Rs. 90 onwards. There is a lot of activities that one can enjoy with friends and family, starting from visiting the zoo, boating, haunted house etc. Visit the lake on weekdays to avoid the crowd. Drinking water and washrooms are also available. There are also some decent eating joints.

Worth visiting!! Due to current covid situation going on, this public place is less crowded than usual. Make sure to have Vaccine certificate! They charge 10/- Rs for entry and the zoo entry from inside is 50/- there is boating and steamer, all have separate charges.

Vast expanse to spend some, alone time😁 though I would prefer it to be more quiet.🔇🔕😶🤫 The authorities should ensure that the lake is maintained clean. The least they can do is to educate or penalize the unruly public who litter their surroundings. There are enough trash cans, yet these plastic bottles end up in the lake. Boat riding is a very short lived experience for a 130rs ticket. Trams look attractive that facilitates a whole view of this place in a leisurely manner. Towards evening, it is excessively crowded and noisy. Good place to hang out with your friends, family or even just yourself 😁. It was raining heavily and thus I was spared of a huge rush that we usually witness on weekends. Entry fee is 20 rs. Boat riding is not that satisfactory for an amount of rs130. Just a quick round, and it's over in the wink of an eye. The overall view of the whole river front is aesthetically very good. There are many food chains where you can treat yourself to yummy food or even a softee. 😊😋🍨🍧🍦🥃 A ride in the tram is something I might try next time.

One of the best places in Ahmedabad, all the tickets are so cheap! and it's absolutely huge! Lots of things to do! Can easily spend the whole day here. Recommended to visit in the evening/sunset. The train was fun. Best for kids + couples.

Lovely place to visit with family for outing , would not recommend to go on weekend and holidays as it will be very crowded. Parking is available at a minimum cost and lake entry ticket is also there. Horror house, train ride, food plaza, boat ride etc. are there to enjoy for full day. You can also bring your own meals and enjoy a small picnic with family.

It's very beautiful and Peaceful place for tour students and family trips. In this place attracts the students to visit to see thier beautiful nature, Bird, Animals, and various snakes. In the zoo more than Ten Lions, Leopard, white Tigers, Bear etc present.

Kankariya Lake is one of the good place to visit with your family & children. Lakeside seeting & overall view Is very good & relax. Many fun activities are available like boating, railway, bungy, bhoot mahal etc. Various food options are available.

A full package I should say....a place where you can easily spend 3/4 hrs. Beautiful lake, Boating, toy train, fountain show, food and what not. It has 10 rs entry fee but it's worth as they keep it really clean.

One of the best places to see is Kankaria Lake. There you will get the best view of Kankaria Lake inside Kankaria Park. It will also be fun to see the zoological park.The fun of sitting in the train around the lake is different. So you must experience this once. There you will also get food from different states.

You can have many rides in affordable price. Food is not at restaurants standard. You can see big fishes also in the lake from the shore. It has many kids play area. Must visit with your kids..

Pros: The lake and surrounding infrastructure has developed a lot since I lasted visited the place 20 years ago. There are a lot of things for kids to play and watch. Cons: Complicated ticketing process as tickets need to be purchased at various points - entrance, zoo, rides etc. Parking facility is inconvenient and not developed at all. The condition of zoo animals and enclosures are poor. We saw the skinniest Lion ever! And finally, there was no drinking water in the zoo and the facilities including toilets were not clean.

The Adalaj Vav. In Gujrati and Marwar regions a vav means a stepwell. In the northern Hindi-speaking regions, a stepwell is called a bowadi. In the arid regions of Gujrat, Rajasthan and Marwar where the water table is low, wells have to be dug to a considerable depth. Hauling water by buckets tied to a rope was back-breaking labour for the ladies and gents alike. Therefore many communities collectively constructed vavs or step wells where one could descend right up to the water level for bathing, washing and filling up drinking water to be carried to their homes. In many cases, wealthy families with a philanthropic bend of mind constructed vavs for the public good. They were built in stone with pillars and walls etc carved with amazingly beautiful designs, motifs and statues of Gods and Goddesses. More often than not such vavs were made up of various stories with large floor spaces, rooms etc at every storey. Such vavs became a focal point for community gatherings, celebrations and religious functions. These vavs were architectural wonders and in due course became well known for their beauty. Adalaj vav is one such vav and so generally referred to because it is located in the village of Adalaj. The real name of the vav, as per the inscription found engraved on a stone in the vav is ‘Rani Dudabai’ Vav. As per history/legend, Raja Veer Singh of the Vaghela dynasty started its construction in 1555. His kingdom was attacked by Mohammed Begda a Muslim ruler of the neighbouring state. In the battle, Raja Veer Singh was killed. The vav could not be completed. It is said that Queen Ruda bai, wife of Raja Veer Singh was very beautiful. Mohammed Begda fell in love with the queen and wanted to marry her. As per the legend, the queen agreed on the condition that Mohammed Begda completes the construction of Vav. He readily agreed and completed the construction in a quick time. It is said that Once the unfinished project of her husband was completed, rather than marry the Muslim ruler the queen reneged on her promise and committed suicide by jumping into the well. Queen Ruda Bai Vav is a five-storey octagonal construction with the well itself is circular in shape. The beginning of the stairs is flanked by two “Chabutaras” or raised platforms. The faces of these chabutaras are made up of intricately and beautiful geometrical engravings of trees and plants etc. Octagonal sides of each floor had engraved latticed stone screens as safety railings. Hundreds of pillars, niches on the floors etc all are beautifully engraved and look very beautiful. One can spend hours admiring the beauty of the engravings/carvings and still come away wondering whether he has seen all that was to be seen. We took lots of pictures, spent maybe an hour and a half and bid good buy to Adalaj/Queen Ruda Bai Vav.

Snacks are available outside the premises. Try to avoid it on weekends due to the crowd. A drinking water facility is also available.

One of good places to visit around Ahmedabad. Recommend to visit in early evening. There is ticket Rs 25 for Indians and Rs. 300 for foreign nationals. Earlier there was no entry charges and so not well maintained... however now well maintained. Tickets also can be booking using digital platform we could not as the website was not responsive. So had to pay cash at the counter.

Wonderful place! The place used to be marvelous, but it has been spoiled by the public to the extent that you can detect the strong odor of ammonia from afar. It is essential for the authorities to implement stringent regulations in order to safeguard the ancient architecture.

This is such a unique historical place to visit. This stepwell is in great condition, renovated and well maintained. If you come by car, then parking is available. The entrance fee is just nominal price. From the road this stepwell is not visible but when you actually approach it you understand the grand level of this 500+ years old five storied deep historical place. Behind the construction of this stepwell is a really sad story that you should read before visiting.

One of the few heritage sites near Ahmedabad. Go early in the morning to avoid rush and better environment if you are interested in photography. A few hours should be enough if you want to really spend time to take pictures otherwise and hour with the family is a good time to enjoy the old relics.

It is very precious historical place to go with friends and family members. It's a very quiet and calm place to spend time with yourself. This place is divine. The atmosphere of this place is really quiet and cool. The structure and architecture is really amazing. It is octagonal in a plan at the top, built on an intricately carved large number of pillars. An incredible and breathtaking landmark.

This is a historical place with quite environment and with a park too. The Stepwell is designed like if you go more down the well once can feel the temperature is lower than the outside temperature. The structure and architecture is really amazing, incredible and breathtaking landmark.

This place is a heritage site which is at all not visible from the roadside 🙈 The place is well maintained. But avoid going on public holidays and weekends as it is packed with people. Well maintained step well. The water is crystal blue and very beautiful. The place is very cool as compared to outside temperatures. On a short work trip to Ahmedabad and a few colleagues of mine recommended me to visit the stepwell. The structure of the site was astonishing and I believe it’s a place to visit (at least once in your life) when you’re in here. Please remember to bring cash!!! Over rated place of ahmedabad. In day time its market hub of gold and silver traders in night it change to food street, always crowded parking is not available. It is over hyped by local market, but actually food is one the worst in taste. Just oil cheese and chocolate, major availability is dosa / pav bhaji, and ready base pizza

It is an amazing place for food lovers. We gujarati always foodie in nature. I loved pavbhaji eating there. So much vibrant place. I go in the rainy season so it will give old vibes of amdavad .

Nothing too say about manek chok food bazar Bcuz if you are from Gujarat then definitely you know that place and if you’re from Ahmedabad or from nearest village And cities of Ahmedabad then you have to definitely try once in life. Must try-Balan gotala dosa and other dosa,gugra sandwich, butter pav bhaji, pineapple and chocolate sandwich and in dessert asharfilal ice cream and gulfi. All thing made by Amul butter and cheese.

Very costly... Huge traffic after 8 pm. Taste is quite good. Walking is best option to reach here. Beware of rough and tough driving of autos and bikers.

Items are good in taste but I found the rates to be a bit high. This is a street food area so one should not expect the level of hygiene or washroom facility. Try if and only if you have craze for street food. One can go for the feel not for food..

Manek Chowk, old heritage of Ahmedabad... Famous for night Street Food which is over crowded always and starts by 10 pm upto 01:30-02:00 am or depending upon crowd. It was an amazing experience to witness such classic cars. Some cars around 100 years old were also there. If you're car lover than this is the place you're looking for. You will definitely find the ₹100 ticket worth for this place. My personal favorites were Rolls Royce Phantom collection they got. Ford, Chevy, mini you just name them and they got all in their collection. Convertibles are also unique. Overall a must visit place in Ahmedabad if you're car enthusiast.

The place is a must visit for car lovers and vintage collection enthusiasts. It is a peaceful place and exciting to see 112 vintage cars with around 10 bikes of the classic Indian age. There you can have a ticket of 100/- per person and 100/- per phone you want to click photos from. The management stays with you and guides you through the whole museum. This is a private place so it's open on Monday as well and rest all tourist places are closed on Monday.

There are total 112 vintage cars. Most of them are rolls Royce. There are few 100+ years old editions of cars. The ticket charge is of 100 bucks for 12+ age and 50 for <12. For photography, it is 100 bucks but worth to pay. Few bikes will remind you of old movies. Visited on Sunday afternoon but preferred in the morning so you can get a better view and commentary by the staff. A small funworld for kids to play games in the same premises and a small restaurant. Overall, a package and good 1-2hours spent.

We planned to visit Adalaj stepwell which is situated in Gandhinagar Gujarat! Post that we were thinking of visiting nearby locations and found this Museum! Car & Bikes are always my hot fav thing! So this was a reason to visit this museum which is in Ahmedabad. 1stly parked Car in Free parking lot! Then walked towards Ticket counter! 100 Rs charged for adult while 50 Rs for child! Additionally they charged 100 Rs to use single Camera phone (That means Only one phone will be used to click pic of yourself or car. Also one person will continuosly follow you to ensure that you won't touch car or use any other device). You will find many cars and Few bikes which will give a feel that how rich our heritage was! A huge variety of Rolls-Royce and other brands which we never seen or heard of! Saw vintage MG and some models which are huge then a SUV in current scenario. If you are car enthusiast then its heaven for you! Many models have been owned by Indian kings/Prince & been accumulated at one place for us! Huge property and Collection which makes it Must visit one! Food court is also there if someone want to have cup of tea/Coffe.

Fantastic visit. We'll maintained cars. The ride in one of their vintage cars is certainly worth it. The engine was running super smooth. Car ride was super too, even though parts of the drive path were rough, we could barely feel the bumps :)

Great collections of vintage cars from 1880 to late 90s. The only thing that disappointed me is that even after buying an extra ticket for photography, they do not allow to take videos. Staff behavior was also not so well. In the morning, we 20 were the only first visitors. However, they instructed that once you pass on a car, we don't allow it to see it back. Paying for tickets is worthy, and everyone should visit once to go back in time and see what amazing creator our ancestors were.

I went there today and it was really soothing experience. I'm a Hindu but my Muslim brothers warm welcomed me and I even sat on the praying floor. It was a soothing experience and the people are really friendly. Being a holy place, don't forget to remove your footwear before entering. 5 stars to this place from my side. The Tree Of Life which is sustaining Ahmedabad's growth from the past 500 years. Devout Muslims come here to pray throughout the day. Women r not allowed to enter it's inner premises though u can take photos from outside of the main premises. Beware of the homeless people around it.

Regal, beautiful and unique, Sidi Saiyyed Mosque in Gujarat is an iconic landmark of Gujarat. The mosque is famous for its intricate stone latticework on its windows. This iconic landmark of Ahmedabad, recognized for its unique window designs, was built in 16th century towards the end of the Gujarat Sultanate. One work that catches the attention of almost every tourist is the lattice work that resembles the famous 'tree of life" motif with intertwined trees and foliage. Logo of the prestigious educational institute, Indian Institute of Ahmedabad, is based on this motif too.

Situated near the Lal Darwaza in Ahmedabad, Sidi Sayyid’s mosque is one of the most renowned mosques of the city and the world. The mosque has been built in yellow sandstone in the Indo-Islamic style of architecture of Gujarat, which evolved during the reign of the Sultanate dynasty. The mosque building is open on the front, characterized with five arches as the entry points and with octagonal minarets on the front corners not going up beyond the roof. The space inside the five arches is divided into fifteen bays by eight pillars. The roof of the mosque is flat and adorned with fifteen small cupolas. One of the most prominent features of the mosque is its semi-circular arched windows with intricate latticework, or jalis (detailed decoration in wood, metal, stone, etc., with regular patterns of openings or holes). It took a total of 45 craftsmen to complete this mosque. There is very little known about the craftsmen who were responsible for bringing together the meticulously carved structure of the Sidi Sayyid mosque. A plaque installed on the walls of the mosque helps provide a brief historical description of the place and its builder, which reads: ‘Sidi Saeed Mosque  A.D. 1572'. Two lofty minars with principal archway formed part of the original mosque, which was completely damaged during the upheaval of 1755 CE. These exquisitely carved minarets are said to have been built by Sidi Bashir, a famous architect in the reign of Sultan Mahmud Shah I (1458‒1511 CE). ‘These minars are world famous for their shaking property, which is entirely due to impressive vibrations conducted through the perfect plan of the plinth.’ Sidis are Indians of African descent who form a small minority in the state of Gujarat, with a population of approximately 12,000. They have been residing in this region for hundreds of years now but are considered a backward minority by the people of the state. A lot of people in the state are unaware of their existence, despite the fact that one of the most prominent architectural structures and mosques in the city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat, the Sidi Sayyid mosque, was built by a Sidi. Sidi Sayyid, known to be the most famous Habshi nobleman of his times in Ahmedabad, and even Gujarat, is credited with the building of the Sidi Sayyid mosque. He was an Abyssinian in the service of Rurni Khan, the second son of Khudavand Khan Khwaja Safar Salmani, the governor of Surat during the period of the tenth Gujarat Sultan Mahmud Shah (1537‒53). Later, Sidi Sayyid joined the personal retinue of Bilal Jha Jhar Khan, the famous Abyssinian general in the army of the last sultan of Gujarat. He was also a learned man with a valuable library. Sidi Sayyid is seen as a hero in the history of the Sidis since not only did he make an invaluable contribution to the architectural heritage of Ahmedabad but is known to have helped the poor by providing them with food and shelter. He died in 1576, and his tomb lies near the north wall of the compound. The mosque is, however, most famous for its jalis. The jalis are mainly contained in the windows at the back facade or on the sides. There are eight arched windows in total on the back wall of the mosque. All the windows are filled with jalis carved intricately in stone. However, the central window has been left devoid of any jali, which leads us to assume that the structure may have been left incomplete due to the Mughal invasion of Gujarat. The twin jalis positioned on its side have been carved from a single stone in the design of a tree with palm leaves and curved tendrils, and, thus, it is often referred to as the ‘Tree of Life’, built in 1573. The ‘Tree of Life’ jali has been adopted as a symbol of Ahmedabad known worldwide, especially after the 1960s when the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad took an abstraction of the carving on the windows as their logo. It is used on postcards, tourism websites,and other means of communication. The jali models are given away as a souvenir to distinguished delegates visiting the city.

The Sidi Sayed Mosque is famed for its exquisite jali windows, spider web fine, depicting the intricate intertwining branches of the ‘tree of life’ that is best seen from the road that runs along the back of the mosque. The central arch of the mosque is also bereft of the intricate latticework, making the eyes go straight to the main stunning work at the back wall. The mosque still functions as a place of prayer. Popularly known as Sidi Sayed ni Jali the mosque was built in the period 1572–73 AD by Sidi Sayed. It was the same year that the Mughals conquered Gujarat. Sayed was an Abyssinian saint of African descent who served in Ahmed Shah’s army. He was from a community distinct in culture and appearance that lives in parts of Gujarat even today. Visitors would appreciate the artistic splendour as they gaze at the majestic Tree of Life window that has a tree intertwined with its branches, foliage, curved tendrils and palm motifs. It is believed that the mosque was built by the last Sultanate and due to the invasion of the Mughals; the sacred complex could not be completed as planned. A central window arch of the mosque remains incomplete as such stands walled with stones and the two structures at the entrance leading to the courtyard seems to be the two incomplete towers. It is a Heritage Structure & under maintained by A S I.

Ahmedabad's Sidi Saeed Mosque was built by a courtier of Sultan Nasiruddin Mahmood III, Sidi Saeed. An Abyssinian by birth, the Sidi had come to India by way of Yemen and had risen to a position of considerable wealth and power. He was also known for his generosity and works of charity. This mosque was built in 1572 CE, and when Sidi Saeed died in 1576, he was buried here. The mosque is quite modest in size but has exquisitely carved stone screens depicting the tree of life. The mosque is still in use, so please be appropriately dressed when you visit - no shorts or other revealing clothes. Also, shoes must be taken off before you enter. The main building of the mosque is off-limits to women. No entrance fee is charged.

The Sidi Sayeed Mosque functions as a place of prayer ever since its construction in 1572-73, by Sidi Sayeed. It resides by the middle of the road, being surrounded by traffic. The front entrance consists of a wazaoo khana (small pond for ablutions) on the left, and surprisingly, a few graves on the other side. It is a great start to a journey in this area of Ahmedabad, when it is quite close to the Lal Darwaza Market.

The temple is located just near Iscon Cross road and is one of the renowned temples in Ahmedabad. The place has well managed parking, a good architecture representing our spiritual history and great devotion environment for Lord Krishna. Govinda restaurant is also located inside the Temple which offers a wide variety of Jain food and you must try the food here. Must visit.

I had an amazing experience visiting the ISKCON Temple in Ahmedabad. The temple is a masterpiece of architecture, and its interior design, adorned with depictions of Krishna, is simply breathtaking. I visit this temple twice a week. It is one of the renowned temples in Ahmedabad. You will feel relaxed here. Visit this temple every Sunday as there is aarti in the evening, so you will enjoy it more. Happiness, Ecstasy, Joyfulness etc are less words to describe the atmosphere here. Beautiful place located within urban fabric but the only problem was reaching it due to the flyover reaching to the place by walking is very long if you are located other side of the road otherwise its near to the junction the place is peaceful and calm with eateries located on road outside and restaurants inside it has green space within creating some buffer between road and temple is very beautiful inside with amazing carvings and details on walls and pillars painting on the ceiling was insanely good showing the life of Shri Krishna and each and every wall depecting the story of lord inside the temple their are sweet shops gift shops and many other sovinier shops etc.

It’s like a sculptor became a painter the level of detail in the sandstone design is mind blowing. Every inch is noteworthy and the design is superb so I will definitely recommend that you go. It is a actively worshipped place so you have to maintain the sanctity but the experience is completely magical. So enjoy the splendour.

Jain Temple was constructed in 1848. Beautiful place. The architecture is superb well maintained, clean, and very peaceful. Must visit And take it all in with quietness and with new architectural elements

Such a beautifully carved Jain temple. The peace quiet n serenity makes this as one of the best places in Ahmedabad. There are close to 50 small small temples inside n 100s of pratimaas. Photography inside the temple is not allowed. Next to the temple is a museum where multiple stories of Jainism and it's history are displayed through photos and jhankies. Entry ticket for Museum is - Rs20/- per person. If you want to do photography then it is extra Rs 100 .

This is a Jain temple I visited during my Gujarat trip. There are very fine and intricate carvings and sculptures present all over the temple. Since photography inside temple premises is prohibited I couldn’t get any pics from inside, but one can see the kind of work from the pillar’s picture. It is good place to visit. Would definitely recommend others to visit this place and witness the mesmerising sculpture and carvings.

Must visit place in Ahmedabad, Great Architecture, alike Dilwara Jain temple, well maintained, great carving on white marble. Due to security reasons you can't click photo of idols, and inner portion of temple where idols are placed b.c everything is of gold and silver here. Outside it a stumbh alike Vijay Stambha Chittorgarh. You can also injoy unlimited food here in just 50 rs but every thing is sweet here and no tadka, because of Jain Temple in Gujarat. But it opens upto sun set.

This is a very huge Mandir and also a very good vibe here.There is also dharmshala where every Jain person can stay for maximum 3 days. Parking facility available. Temple complex is divided in many parts. There is also Bhojanshala, where you can eat tasty 😋 jain gujarati thali for just 60 Rs. It includes one sabji, Roti ,Dal and Rice.

This is a very very special place. I had the privilege of visiting and entering the Hutheesing Jain Temple and the first step inside the gates, I felt a tranquility and calmness come over me. Hutheesing jain temple in Ahmedabad is a neat serene jain temple with beautiful sculptures and pillars in white marble. When we visited the temple a group of young boys and girls also came and in front of the sanctum-sanctoram they chanted hymns, prayers, songs.. Oh god what a scene.. full of bhakthi, nothing but bhakthi.. Goosebumps and tears in our eyes.. still reverberating in our ears.. Huthisingh Temple is a Jain temple in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It was built in 1848 by Huthisingh family. The temple blends the old Maru-Gurjara temple architectural style with the modern architectural elements of the haveli in its design. The construction of the temple was originally planned and started by Huthisingh Kesarisingh, a wealthy businessman from Ahmedabad. After his death at the age of 49, the construction was supervised and completed by his wife Harkunwar.

Very serene place, a must visit when in Ahmedabad. We went in the morning around 9am and enjoyed being there. Sat down for a while on the chairs kept in the main temple while chanting was going on and it felt really good. The carvings in the temple are also very appreciable. Few tips: This place is not very crowded. There is parking available in the temple complex itself and also there is place to keep your shoes just outside the temple. No strict dress cide, just don't wear very revealing clothes.

The Hutheesing Jain Temple was built by Sheth Huthessing in 1848. All four sides were the same, each stretched wall lined with multiple figures, separated with barred doors. It was a wonder in itself, entering the principal temple, in which houses deities.

Very calm and serene. Do not have to worry a lot about keeping things in locker etc. Please do not take elder family members to this place. The way up to the main deity is not easy and the elder ppl will find it difficult to crawl inside the cave like passes and there are not many workers there to take care if people are stuck.

It's a Hindu Temple of Godess Vaishnodevi which is a mini creation of original Vaishnodevi temple of J & K ,Katra .It is situated on Sarkhej Gandhinagar highway,near Nirma university. People visit regularly to offer Prasad/prayers for their,Mannat fulfilled by DEVI. Almost all Hindu festivals are celebrated here particularly Chaitri/Aso Navratri time this is most happening place. Canteen for refreshment & parking facilities r available. It is a Good place for picnic cum Darshan for families.

This Temple of Mata ji is very beautiful and it is the same as Vaishno Devi Katra temple. The way to reach mataji murti is the same as the original temple lots of caves and all. Very systematic and organized, good arrangements by trust or administrative people. Must visit this temple with a friend and family.

Vaishnodevi Temple is located on SG Highway and truly a miniature of the original Vaishno Devi temple of Katra, J&K. The temple is built on an artificial hill with a path passing through caves. Just like original Vaishnodevi temple, Ardhkunwari is also created here with a small cave to step-in and crawl your way out. After darshan, you will be given a small coin as the blessing of goddess which can be preserved with the belief of increase in wealth. The temple remains open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. There are some stalls having ice-cream and snacks. There is no entry fees and the parking is also free. Note: 1. During Aarti time, darshan of temple is not allowed 2. Capturing photos are not allowed inside the temple 3. Try to avoid taking elder family members having knee problems

The design of temple was good 👍 . There were some tunnels to reach main temple. Mobile phone were allowed but with condition that mobile should have been switched off 📴.

A unique collection, zealously maintained and guarded, displayed in a very different ambiance and in a stunning heritage premises. The walk-through with a guide to provide background snippets for some of the exhibits was interesting, but it would have been awesome if a theme, or a story or a continuity was maintained, especially for those who are not from the world of textiles. A brief introduction on the exhibits' significance and the tour route may have been helpful. An ice breaker for the group to introduce each other could have created a cohesion amongst the group members.

Yesterday afternoon 2:30 to 4:40 time slot we 7 members visited the Calico textile Museum. We got permission just one day before but I was asking for the permission last one month. It's worth going and witnessed the textile heritage of our beautiful country. The guided tour was wonderful. Each peace is a master piece and kept very well. I'm mesmerized by the colors.They gave tea n boiled peanuts at the end of the tour. Must visit place in Ahmedabad. I wish only one piece they would allow as a memory.

One of the oldest museums in Ahmedabad it aae inspires tourists with its vast collection of rare textiles, fabrics and artefacts from all over the country. Timing: 10:30 am to 1pm

The museum houses a large collection of not just embroidered, painted or interestingly woven textiles but other masterpieces as well, including bronzes, carved woodwork, and more. Nobody is allowed into the museum just like that: you need to join a guided walk in order to visit. These walks are free, but you have to register on their website at least a month in advance, and then take along, on the day of the walk, the confirmation you would have received in response to your registration. You have to deposit all your belongings at the gate, even mobile phones (no photographs at all are allowed). The walk we went on, two hours' duration, began at 10:30 and took us through galleries of kalamkari, pichwai, Mughal miniatures, South Indian bronzes, Buddhist thangkas, and an exquisite 200-year-old Jain temple which was reassembled here at the mansion. The walk ended at a series of galleries explaining different methods and techniques of textile production and decoration. Two walks a day are organized by the museum. Though the staff's attitude is unhelpful and standoffish, at least the collection is beautiful.

This location is one of the most beautiful place. Everything has been meticulously examined, including the structure, grounds, and content. This is a fantastic museum with an incredible collection of paintings, embroidery, sculptures, and bronzes.

Phones are not allowed inside. This place is a must visit. Its very aesthetic. The tour is if 2 hours and they also offer you tea and snacks. Other than the museum, the gardens Are very beautiful. The museum courtyard has a very huge tree with lilac flowers than spin and fall slowly and it is the prettiest thing that i have ever experienced. The museum has textiles from across India from different time periods and the guide explains in detail the story of that fabric. You have to book on their website and then send them an email regarding the same or else they won’t consider you for entry. Getting a booking is difficult since they accept only a few people every day and the timings are very strict.

DO NOT GO THERE WITHOUT READING THE REVIEWS The visitor is required to fill a form which is available in the about section of the museum google map page. Once you submit the form with your date of visit. The museum is supposed to send you a confirmation email(because a guide would accompany the group and tell them all about it). Without the email you cannot enter inside. And mostly you dont get the confirmation email. I thought must be some glitch and reached only to find out that they wont let you enter inside. And there was another group there who as well didnt get the confirmation email. So, I wasnt the only one. Its been a month and I havent got that email yet.

Absolute must see when in Ahmedabad for anyone with an interest in textile, design or even culture in general. Beautifully exhibited pieces in great variety. If you wonder why there are no pictures of the galleries on Google, it is because a visitor is not allowed to carry a cellphone or camera into the space. You can deposit them at the gate where the guards will keep them safe. Also booking in advance is a must and one must be sure to be on time. There is no fee for the tour. There are a number of tours each day of the week. Textiles, costumes, bronzes and even the gardens are a worthy visit.

An experience like no other. A beautiful space, amazing collection and an even better curation of artifacts. Without giving away much, I highly recommend going there AT LEAST once. Also, it's more than just textiles.

Terribly rude security staff and outrageous service. We turned up and was told we couldn’t enter without a booking. After asking many times not a single person came to help/assist us. Even after making a booking there and then and calling around 7 different numbers, we received no response. After emailing the office to come to the door to speak with me, they even refused, I had to communicate with them via email even though they were on the other side of the door. Bearing in mind there were NO other customers present it wasn’t like they were fully booked. Who has the time to book 2 weeks in advance as a tourist, what a terrible impression to set. Will never return here.

I attended both the morning guided tour (Haveli gallery) and afternoon guided tour (Chauk gallery) on the same day and it was a one of a kind experience. If you are an art/ heritage/ textile enthusiast / into antique items / into fashion design, this is a place you will love and relate to. 10/10 for their collection, research and eagerness to generate awareness about our cultural heritage. Here is what to expect when you plan a visit here or sign up for their tour: - You need to reserve your date and tour through the online form in their website and you get to attend only if they have sent a confirmation mail. I reserved a month before the planned visit date, sent a follow up email to them after 2 weeks and received the confirmation only the previous night of the planned visit. - If you are a group with n people, each one of them have to register separately. - It is a free guided tour and no entry is allowed without the confirmation mail. - Children below 10 years are not permitted. - Mobiles / electronics / camera and big bags are not permitted anywhere inside their premises and have to be deposited outside as soon as you step in. - They allow entry only 15 minutes prior to the guided tour. - There are stringent rules in place (like reserving in advance, no mobiles, etc) and they possibly have been put in place to ensure that there are zero distractions and the people who attend are genuinely into what they intend to convey. - The tour starts and ends exactly on-time. We are not allowed to leave the tour midway. - Lighting is optimal to ensure minimal light damage to fabrics. - You get to see a meticulous collection, research on preservation of various kinds of clothes, paintings, art work and even temple structures preserved for over 200 years. Their metal sculptures date back to the Chola era. - Our guide Kamiliben who showed us the galleries had possibly lived her life watching the journey of textiles over years and I could see years of experience being narrated as stories throughout the tour. - You can see peacocks and other birds happily moving in their garden. Even though I didn't take a garden tour, I could experience nature at its best and all this could be possible mainly due the absence of shutterbugs. - Boiled peanuts and tea are served at the end of the tour.

"An Artist may visit a museum but only a pendant can live there". Calico Museum of textiles was renowned by the Sarabhai Foundation galleries and collections of sacred bronzes from southernmost India, Images and abodes of Indian deities, various manuscripts, sculptures and various kinds of ritual objects i.e Indian miniature paintings, the Chauk [Housed Royal tents, carpets[Kaleen], and ancient Maurya hereditary monologue of the great Ashoka, embroidered carvings and its techniques, Tibetian culture flag with prayers inscriptions as well as paintings, laughing Buddhas etc. The tour was divided into two parts, ours from 10:30 am [It is advised to reach earlier] to 12:30 pm followed by tea and some freshwater-soaked peanuts at the end of the tour. The tour was free of cost and it is also advised that online booking should be done 4 weeks before the time for the visit. The guide will explain most of the things contained in the museum throughout the tour. The Calico Museum of textiles was inspired by the pioneering art historian and philosopher Dr Ananda Coomaraswamy. After through 15th century when textile production and its trade centre got a boost a vision was to be made, therefore in 1949 this museum was founded by Gautam Sarabhai with the assistance of his sister Gira Sarabhai.

Place is worth visiting. Extremely rare artifacts, and textile related items on display. The display is rather crammed in very tight spaces. Forced to move through the museum as it is a guided tour. The person conducting the tour is with very shallow knowledge and not at all effective in her role as a guide. She is not interested in answering any questions and needs more training to do better job. For a free museum it is worth the trip, my comments are for the group running this museum.

Couldn't get entry into this place as it's by appointment only & we missed as we weren't aware. A limited number of entries are allowed every day & you need to pre-book. So pls go prepared lest you be disappointed; going by the crowd outside we were not the only ones disappointed in not succeeding in getting an entry.

Important to know: to get access to the museum you have to send a request by email in advance (preferably a few weeks in advance) and then receive a confirmation if there are places available. The security at the gate was unfortunately unfriendly. The museum grounds are very beautiful. The park is very impressive. The tour was a bit long.

Don't bother to visit this place. They are not only disorganised and unprofessional, they treat visitors with contempt and arrogance. Three of us had booked a tour by email more than a month in advance. We each got mail acknowledgement of our request, and were informed that we would receive a confirmation mail. None of us got that confirmation mail. We arrived at the venue with the initial mail. The large gate was firmly closed. There were a total of just 10 people including a few tourists from Thailand. The guard rudely told us that without the confirmation mail he wouldn't let us in. One solitary person was let in because only she had the confirmation mail. All of us left, bitterly disappointed and with a poor impression of the Calico museum of textiles. Their internal inefficiency resulted in this situation. Yet they behave with pride and haughtiness towards tourists. They are doing a disservice to the image of Ahmedabad as a UNESCO heritage city. It's not worth the trouble going there. The House of MG Heritage hotel has an excellent collection of textiles as well as craft. And they are welcoming and warm. I would recommend that place rather than Calico museum to anyone wishing to see traditional textiles and craft.

The majestic domes and minarets showcased the grandeur of Islamic architecture, and stepping inside, the intricate carvings transported me to a different era. Despite the city's hustle, the mosque's spacious courtyard provided a peaceful retreat. Experiencing the rich cultural heritage and the tranquility within Jama Masjid made today's visit a memorable and spiritually enriching journey.

Peaceful Place , Jama Masjid, the principle place of prayers for Muslims was built during Ahmed Shah’s reign in the 15th century. It was supposedly the largest mosque in the Indian subcontinent. The mosque was constructed as part of a larger design of the city. It lies south of the processional axis that runs from the Maidan-i Shah with three arches called Teen Darwaza in the old city. Ahmed Shah, his son, and grandson have mausoleums west of the mosque. A short walk away lies Rani no Hajiro, the tombstones of queens and wives of the dynasty. Nice architecture , best to visit in evening!

Along the south side of the road, the mosque is a short distance beyond the Teen Darwaza or Tripolia Gate. The Jama Masjid was the fifth mosque structure built during Ahmed Shah I's reign. The prior mosques had either been modest in size or were for private use. The Jama Masjid was the complete opposite of its predecessors in that it was a large, grandiose structure. The mosque complex has a large paved courtyard that can be entered from three different directions.The courtyard has an ablution tank in the middle. The west side of the building is home to the prayer hall. The entire mosque is emblematic of what came to be known as Gujarat style architecture.

Thank fully not in bad shape like delhi jama masjid this mosque too should have been in much better conditions with muslim contribution but dont know why such mosques are not restored properly. Any ways in enjoyed my visit and would recommend any one visiting ahmedabad to visit this place. Prayed my isha namaz in this mosque and it was a good feeling wondering who all must have been here while this was constructed , how many people must have prayed in this mosque , this place like any other old monuments has so many stories within itself. It was nice feeling hope and pray that muslims learn to protect and maintain such monuments.

It's such a peaceful place, and I was lost in it's architecture. Ahmedabad is UNESCO’s First World Heritage City in India. And Jama Masjid is one of the main attractions. Doesn't matter from which religion are you, you should definitely visit this place when you're in Ahmedabad.

The mesmerising and huge courtyard is made of white marble, surrounded by columns. The columns are decorated with Arabic calligraphy drawn on them, making it intriguing. The Jama Masjid is one of the main tourist attraction cause of majestic architecture. The prayer hall is supported by 260 columns.

Its like finding a gold in very crowded market, you enter from the small gate and experience the vast ground and rich architecture of this grand mosque. I would say that they should add some security for footwear since outside market is very crowded and mostly filled with so many beggars.

This large and very beautiful old mosque was one of the most important buildings constructed by Ahmed Shah I after the establishment of Ahmedabad as his capital. Constructed in 1424 CE, the Jami Masjid (congregational mosque) is in the shape of a large square, its central area occupied by an immense courtyard, with an old wazu tank (for ablutions) in the centre. The corridor that rings the courtyard has giant letters in Arabic painted along the walls, and beautiful arches all along. The main prayer hall of the mosque has exquisite stone carving, both outside and inside. Women are not allowed inside the prayer hall, and photography is not allowed either, but my husband, who was able to enter, reported that the mosque has rows of carved pillars - three hundred of them, as mentioned on the sign outside - which are spectacular. No entry fee is charged, but a dress code is in place.

very nice lake, must visit in evening time for adventure activity in game zone area. If you want calm place then you have good option to sit on benches and steps around the lake. You can visit with family. For adventure activity, entry ticket of 40 rupees for adult. You can use this on 1 big ride or 2small rides within the game zone and other activities.

A decent area for recreation; features walking trail, seating and washroom. The nearby eateries and food stalls on the outer periphery liven up the environment. The lake is also a great place to play Pokemon GO.

The Vastrapur lake was first decorated and opened for public visit in 2002 by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Later on, in 2013, it was renamed in the memory of Narsinh Mehta; a 15th century poet in Gujarat, as ‘Bhakt Kavi Narsinh Mehta Sarovar’. Apart from renaming, a statue of the renowned poet was also constructed in the garden. Later in 2016, when the lake was observed drying up due to excessive heat and lack of adequate rainfall, the authorities removed the dying fish elsewhere. in 2019, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has decided to let in the Narmada River water flow in the River. This place is an ideal weekend visit for a family picnic or maybe a small outing in the evening. This place is also ideal for children as it offers a children park especially designed for the amusement of the small humans. The park is open to its visitors every day from 8 am to 10 pm, around Vastrapur lake here Ahmedabad One Mall, Kalyan Pusthi Haveli, Ganpati Temple, Ramdev Pir Temple, Shree Kamnath Mahadev Temple and Adventure Park.
