This is the best fort we visited whilst in India, it is a living fort and walking the streets you get to see how people still live and work. The art was amazing and the architecture was amazing. If you are looking to do the golden triangle make sure this is on your list to visit. Also make sure to get a guide as they will show you the best streets and shops to visit.

The fort is a town in itself, where there are family living there, restaurants and different temples. The cost of visiting the palace in the fort is 200 rs per head for adults and personally it's not worth it. During my visit, there was restoration work in progress and many of the rooms were closed. Those that were open were OK, not so great. Rajasthan is home to many beautiful forts, if you have seen forts at Jaipur, udaipur etc. This surely can be skipped.

If one wants to see the replica of the fort, which was shown in the television cartoon "Arabian nights", then Jaisalmer fort is the place to be. Counted amongst the largest forts in the world, Jaisalmer fort is the most popular landmark of Jaisalmer city. Unlike other forts of Rajasthan, Jaisalmer fort houses museum, shops, restaurants, residential accommodations, hotels, etc.

Also known as the Golden Fort, this seems to be a main attraction at this town. Flanked by stores and a few food stalls, it’s a not so steep road leading up to the top. Shopping is an attraction here. Many temples are inside the fort which overshadowed the history of the fort. The view point at the top gives a panoramic view of the city. A guide is an integral part of the visit without whom it would just seem ordinary.

One of the few “living forts” on this planet, i.e. a fortified city where people still live and go about daily life. Obviously, many houses have been changed to be shops or hotels and guesthouses, but even those houses keep their original sandstone charm. Definitely worth the visit: take your time to stroll through the small alleys and discover one architectural highlight after the other with intricate sandstone carvings that are hard to find anywhere else in this detail and number.

One of the very few " living forts" in the world, in India this is the only one. It has great ancient history. The fort architecture really nice. Must visit fort in Rajasthan.They are beautiful temples inside the fort. The hotels and restaurants are available. I will suggest to stay in old havelis. Need half a day to visit and guide must.

Probably one the most unique forts I've been to! Its like a small township lives within the fort. Ancestral houses, shops, the fort has it all. Autos go all the way up the hill, or walking is possible too. The fort is made of this beautiful yellow stone that shines in the sunlight, makes it rather unique. The view from the top was great too!

Sonar Fort - An UNESCO World Heritage situated in the Golden City of Rajasthan. It has 99 curves and 7 jain temples and a museum located inside it. Best time to visit is during winters when in evening, one can enjoy good sunset from its top. Though this place carries great archaeological significance, it's heritage needs to be properly conserved. It has been densely inhabited by residents. And while touring the city, one can easily see that fort walls have been loitered to a great extent.

A very beautiful fort. The fort inside which people live and have their homes, small shops and its like we have gone to a whole different place not in India. There's a lot to walk and explore inside here. There are a lot of good cages too. Shopping inside is also pretty good although you'll have to bargain well. The sunset view from here is also very beautiful. This is one of the best fort for me in Rajasthan.

The fort is very nice. It's a live fort as the descendents are living there. You can do shopping also inside the fort. However, It's best to shop outside the fort as there is much bargaining, almost 50%. So, just visit and enjoy. Apart from this, you can enjoy Sunset from the top of the fort, which is marvelous.

Very nice living fort, is a different experience as compared to all other forts I have visited. Though the fort itself is not as impressive as others, a whole ecosystem exists inside the fort walls, which is quite amazing. Also being one of the oldest forts and still standing strong. A must visit place inside the fort is the Jain temple. One of the most beautiful temples I have been to.

This is my least favorite fort that I have visited in India. To explore it, it's not relaxing at all, due to amount of people everywhere around. There are people living in the buildings immediately underneath the fort, making the narrow historical streets extremely crowded and messy. Due to the fact that all the rooms in the fort are small, you will squeeze yourself at a small place with others even to buy the tickets. After that, you will squeeze yourself with other travelers that are pushing themselves into those small rooms and out, not waiting for the visitors walking in opposite direction to finish whatever they are doing. This was extremely unpleasant for me at some places, such as stairs to the tower, that are even more narrow and really suitable for 1 person only. Still, people were still pushing themselves to go up, and those that were going down were pushing themselves to get down. So if you want to go to this kind of place, you know you also need to push yourself, otherwise you just won't get there. What I didn't understand is why nobody limits the number of visitors, or then not organizes flow of the visitors that are already at the place, especially on those very narrow passages. There were staff members that were working as security guys, I guess, but that was it. I guess that everybody in India is used to push themselves, plus this fort is small on its own, so nobody is solving it here. This whole experience made me not like this fort and I wouldn't recommend it to other people. There are other forts that are as nice and interesting, but offer much nicer experience.

This is a historic fort,it is built-up by sand stone . This fort is only where people are residing here. shops & hotels are also inside the fort. The museum of fort is also very nice.Ticket of Rs.200/-charges to visit this museum. Everyone enjoys visiting this fort.

This is the only living fort in India, and one of the very few in the world, this fort is majestic and simply worth visiting. Around 3000 people still reside there. The best views of Jaisalmer are from the fort. I loved it. Jaisalmers are masters of carving. Fantastic work.

A fort built around 900 years ago!! An outstanding peace of architecture. We were surprised to see the huge population which is still living inside this fort. Jain Temple is worth to visit. Lot of shops selling various things. There are lots of options to stay like Homestays and budget hotels. Very good restaurants and cafes are available too.

Visit to Fort is good with the help of a guide. Guide takes you to various points of interest and explains about their history and importance. It’s well kept place, with lots of stairs, narrow/ low height entrances but very good views of the city and there is Jain temple, lots of shopping & restaurants within the fort campus.

The place is overrated, the approach to the boating place is dirty , though one can do boating both paddle boats and the oared ones by the locals are available, the lake is not cleaned regularly. This place can be maintained much better, as all who visit Jaisalmer visit this place. The best time to visit the lake is during sunset. Enjoy the sunset, the street hawkers with food, the sound and light show at dusk and , maybe some good photography.

We didn't take a ride since there was nothing unique about it, having taken a ride at Udaipur earlier and coming from Keralam. However, we spent some time on the banks. Looks like a good lake.

The lake has a good surrounding around it which you can feel after a tiring day of visiting other tourist spots of Jaisalmer. Visit at the last around sunset time to get its beautiful view of the mesmerizing sun beaming down its rays on the lake water. There is also boat riding in the lake and puppet show opposite the lake(timing for the show is around 6:30 pm).

A beautiful water body in Jaisalmer. The spot offers Light and sound show which is quite spectacular. The narration is good. The boat ride is nice and prices are around Rs150 bargainable. The best time is before sunset. The small chattris and other royal constructions makes the place extremely photogenic. The lake has huge number of catfish which can be seen near the lake side. These are huge is size. The down side is the lack of maintenance. The path from entry gate to lake is stinky and smell of urine is common in the air. The path is uneven and presence of cow-dung is common.

If you want to enjoy calmness and peace with beautiful view, visit this lake, you can do boating also at very reasonable charges. Few know eating-coffee outlet near to enjoy that too. You may get some local artists to hear some local songs as well.

Gadisar Lake is a must visit place in Jaisalmer. It is about 1.5 km from Jaisalmer Fort. Now it's hot spot for pre-wedding shooting. The lake is open for 24hrs and there is no entry fees, however the boats are available from 8 am to 8 pm. The lake has many Chatris. Every day at 7 pm there is musical fountain + Laser show which is organised by local authority and its free for all.

Must visit place when in Jaisalmer. We opted for a rowing boat. The guide/rower was very helpful and took great pictures of us as well. We didn't stay back for the evening show, but they do have some activities post sunset.

Not much to explore, although you can do boating & sit peacefully under the trees in the shade. The local people have made it really dirty by throwing biscuits and breads into the water for the fishes to eat. Please avoid doing so if you visit the lake.

I don't think that this stop is necessary or that it's that worthy. At the same time, it's one of the few things that you can do in Jaisalmer. Prepare for the fact that everyone local at the place is prepared for you. To get to the place, you need to pass something that looks like a market for tourists. In any case, if you come to the place, you will make few nice photos. The stop if worth about 15 minutes of your time.

Dirty water, dirty boats and dirty life jackets. Prices are too high, beggars are all around. But but, cenotaphs are too beautiful, the experience of boating is awesome in the lake.

They say, in Jaisalmer, visuals at the eye level are stunning. But the moment you turn your head southwards, they get really repulsive. The lake is no exception. It’s a treat at dusk. Historical Structure is very impressive and well maintained in Jaisalmer city. There are many guides available for you to explain history. There are three floors in which you can visit their living room,bed room, kitchen utensils, musical instruments and many more. Many of postal letters, locks, imported items in display. However I found it boring and entry fees are extremely high.

Heritage Museum of Jaisalmer. It costs 150 to explore this museum. It's the second best architectural design of Jaisalmer. It was built by Guman Chand Patwa in 1805. It's the largest Haveli built in Jaisalmer. It has separate stories, one for each of his five sons.

This is a good place to visit to appreciate the carvings and reminisce the historical back story. It gives a glimpse of the past lifestyle, aristocracy. Don't take a big car to this place, limited parking options. Take a guide to understand the back story better. Note: This is not suitable for aged people and physically challenged people as there is no lift and steep narrow stairwell to ascend and descend within the building.

This place has the most beautiful carvings and I am still mesmerised at how this was done in ancient times. If you are in Jaisalmer, you can’t miss this place for sure. It is a row of five havelis started by a rich trader Guman Chand Patwa in the 19th Century. He was a wealthy banker, Patwon ki Haveli took almost 55 years to build and was completed by his sons. Locals also refer the haveli as Kothari’s Patwa Haveli. These were built for a joint family, the entire complex forms the largest mansion in the city. One portion - Kothari’s Patwa Haveli- has entry fee INR 150, it still possess an ample number of artefacts and stonework that give a glimpse into the lifestyle of the Patwa family. Nothing novel. Other portion- being managed by the state government - has entry fee INR 50. It is vacant and thus one can see true architectural marvels. In this you can go at the top of the haveli for 360 view of Jaisalmer. It has 'sheesh mahal' (glass room). There are five floors. Good photo-op!

Nice experience visiting Haveli. We took a guide and he told all the stories so well. There are so many historical things that are kept there which are used by haveli members. One can visit there.

Only for people who love historical place and want to know more about how people of elite category used to live in past. Take a guide here otherwise you will just wonder what’s all of these. Entry fee is 175 INR. You will see lot of stone carvings and quite old house hold/imported stuff. Since city is small, you will see fort from the top of this Haveli. Terrace has beautiful carvings on stone.

This place is the old haveli of some businessman family here at Jaisalmer. One of the Haveli part had been converted into a museum, the place had an entry ticket and you can also hire a guide here if you like. It had all the common household things that were used in their time and you will enjoy the old architecture here. This is a muct visit place in Jaisalmer. From the terrace here you can see Jaisalmer Fort too and you will be amazed to see thr hadicraft on the wall stones here.

Patwo ki Haweli located near Jaialmer fort. Entry fee for 1 of the haweli is ₹50 and Kothari haweli has entry ticket of ₹150. You’ll get to see marvellous architecture of Rajasthan. There total 5 adjacent hawelis altogether known as Patwo ki haweli built for 5 sons of owner. You will get to see the landscape view of the Fort from rooftop of Haweli.

A walk into history. It can be a look and go or get soaked and absorbed, if you choose to hire a guide and you are lucky enough to get a good one. We got a good guide and could appreciate the place better. Be here by 9 AM, as later the crowd becomes so large that it becomes difficult to Wal through the narrow stairs and path ways and also becomes impossible 5o stand and watch anything

Great architectural skills, the carvings on the stone blocks is just great to see. Only thing that I didn't liked about the place is the guides available there, they will tell you that they will show you 5-7 havelli but will only show you 1-2 and afterwards will tell you that the rest of them are closed. Still it was a great experience and a very nice place to get pictures clicked 💯💯.

They've not maintained it for the current times. Many antique attire, utensils, day-to-day utilities are on display. Pay special attention to ceilings, wall# & their artworks, age-old reusable items against current use&throw ones. Perfumery & toiletries are exquisite, so are the pagdi of men & saris of women.

A piece of architecture, symbolizing the lavish lifestyle of the resident owners of this haveli. Presently it is used a museum to showcase the life of Patwa family of late 18th century. Presently the largest haveli in Jaisalmer and most intact. The Seesh mahal or glass room is extremely beautiful. There is a shop on base floor, but things are costly. Souvenir shops outside the haveli has good collection of goodies.

Just loved it. The finest work done on the golden sand stone is amazing. You can visit one of the Haveli from the inside as it is open to tourists. The inside also consists of a lavish lifestyle Patawa used to live in back then. There is a shish mahal built within. You can go up till terrace & click some photos including that of the Jaisalmer Fort

Beautiful architecture. Every rooms has description in front. Can avail guide if needed. But they are so fast and take us at a high speed around the haveli. Won't get enough time to admire the beauty.

A previous ruler’s accountant was given this land to build on. He built 5 houses for each of his sons. The descendants currently occupy some of the houses. We managed to see one that was owned by the state and open for the public to view. It is an amazing building full of character and artwork. The stone engraving art has been passed down the generations and is still evident today in new buildings around the city. We took a guide who gave us a good commentary. Cost Rs 200 for the guide. They only earn during the tourist season.

The Haveli and museums are now divided into sections belonging to two brothers, and one must purchase two separate tickets. Both museums are worth the ticket price, a treat to the eyes. One part of the Haveli is renovated with amazing glass work and the other still has the centuries-old work and objects intact in original condition. ♿ The Haveli is not accessible for the differently abled.

One of the best places to visit in Jaisalmer. Known for its absolutely fine architecture, this will take around one hour to visit. Tickets Rs 150 and available on site without much queue. Guides are available at Rs 200 and you should avail a guide to have a better understanding of the haveli. The entry area is congested and we went by auto. Not sure about parking around. We didn't find any washroom.

This place is really worth a visit. The havelis with all the stone carvings are beautiful. Although only one of them is accessible for public, but it's a must visit. Gives a nice impression of how the lives of rich must have been 100-200 years ago.

Nothing much to review about out here, the village was abandoned centuries ago and there are remains that we may not be able to relate to. This is something that travelers can totally skip , unless you like to watch ruins and walk a lot. Instead of this spend time at the camp or in the desert with the camels.

The entire experience was simply sublime. The people at Jaisalmer Golden Stone Resort took care of every little detail & made sure everybody was more than satisfied. The staff was extremely kind, humble & respectful which is a rare sight to begin with. The food was good, . Mr. Hasan was very sweet & pleasant as a person and created some of the most exquisite cuisines with his own distinctive flavour. What we like: 1. Clean tent. We can call it room also as it was made from brick wall with a cloth piece giving a tent feel. But it was pretty decent tents. 2. Even basic tent is enough for a couple, even with 2 kids. Don't pay extra for royal tents. 3. It costed us 3500 + 1000 (which includes jeep safari and camel ride)for a couple per night which is again decent for tent at that location. What we didn't like: 1. The cultural show was very, very basic. 2. Fire show was promised, but they didn't perform it. 3. Bonfire was also promised,but again, it didn't perform. 4. Tap water was having salt content (we pressume it was from borewell). Although, while marketing, they say that 24hrs hot water is available but this is not the case. It is from 6am to 10am even then the water was not hot enough. 5. Jeep safari was too short. Just a minute ride in sand dunes and it's done. We just started enjoying and it finished in flash. They promise for 3 sand dune dessert but it's hardly a minute ride in first 2 sand dunes. And 2 minutes in last sand dune. Thar vehicle transport you from resort to those dunes. Travel time is hardly 15min from resort to sand dunes. 6. Camel ride which was included in package was just 100m ride. Promise was made for 2.5km.

If you are fond of rajasthan, its tradition, culture and heritage. A must visit place. If you are fond of haunted stories of ghosts, a must visit place. Although this place can be better managed, but it will give you goose bumps for a while. The story of Kuldhara is quite interesting although different people have different perspectives as to why this village was abandoned within one night.

The camp has very nice and polite staff. The food was also good. They provided cab facility as well from city to the desert camp. Desert safari and camel safari was fabulous with affordable price

It's not haunted at all.... There is whole another story about the village being abandoned other than that being haunted....... Great landscape for some amazing pictures......

Jaisalmer Golden Stone Resort Jaisalmer Desert Camp one of the best in Jaisalmer.. We stayed here overnight between 05-06 and the arrangement and service was awesome. We started with a quick check in and then heading to the dunes in a thrilling jeep ride for a lovely sunset camel ride and race. Back at the camp, we were greeted traditionally and welcomed in to a culture feast. There were soulful folk songs and dances where everyone joined at the end. The food and service was exemplary and friendly staff and owners constantly checked in with us. We truly enjoyed our stay and Hasan Bhai was super friendly with us.

It’s a abandoned village which have a historical story. Many believe who ever have gone there in night have not returned back. Currently you can see only broken huts for tourism sake they have constructed few houses to feel how it might have look long ago.

If you are planning to visit here I suggest you can visit more abandoned villages while going to khuri village or sam sand dunes at free of cost..! You have to pay around 100-150Rs for the entry which is a total waste of money..! While going to khuri village for desert safari you can visit 3-4 villages free of cost..!

Keep change of 10s and 100s as everyone offering rides pleaad for tip. I witnessed an argument where the boy of 10-12 serving tea insisted that thr order was for 2 teas, not 1, and the customer ended up refusing to pay for any tea at all. The quad rides are good. The camel ride has an option camel run.

Fake resort, don't do booking here. I have done booking through MakeMyTrip long back and just 10 days before the dates, he's saying rooms are sold out. Instead of solving the problem, he is asking me to cancel the booking and do booking somewhere else as he's getting better rates from other customers.

It was a privilege to be able to stay in such a marvellous property. The Haveli, exquisitely maintained over the centuries, has retained a real sense of old-world charm. While the building itself feels ancient, the addition of modern amenities (private bathroom, air conditioning etc.) means you’ll be more than comfortable during your stay here. Desert Haveli is no less than a hidden gem to stay in Jaisalmer. Imagine staying inside a fort!! Right from it's cosy ambience to its prime location and a super helpful and cordial host, everything about this place is amazing. We had a great time at the haveli. The place location is perfect, inside of Jaisalmer fort, just give minutes walking from the main gate. Service is good and the haveli and rooms are beautifully decorated. Just one issue was that one of the windows has a metal frame (the rest are sandstone and wood) and pigeons made a lot of noise when perching on that specific window. They actually woke us up early in the morning 😂. Other than that everything was great!

In Desert haveli guest house, I had a very awesome experience. The host over there is so nice, he would be available for you each and every time. You can get to know about the whole city with him. He will treat you like his own family. You can enjoy the roof top view inside the desert haveli. Also you can do hukka/boozing on rooftop if you like. He will give you the package of camel ride, Jeep Safari, night stargazing in Sam desert, also in khuri desert.. He will insist you to take non touristic package because it's peaceful and really nice.. As per me he is the best host anyone can ever have.. If you're going to jaisalmer and didn't stay inside the golden fort and it's just meaningless because golden fort is the only fort all over the india where you can stay inside the prince/princess rooms and experience a whole lot of different things..😇

So where should I start? 1) After 2 hours of gruelling travel, we checked into the hotel, got asked for the full payment upfront else we won't be allowed to check in. 2) After having checked in, the power was cut and there is no power backup to beat the heat. 3) For the group of 24 ppl, we were provided with only to jeeps because "our children are not accounted for during the counting". 4) In the name of desert safari, we were taken to a village without desert and only stones. 5) Their untrained camels got up while one of the kids were climbing them. The first time that I've witnessed such untrained camels being used with tourists. 6) They don't let you sit out of the room if it has hit 11 on the clock. 7) No bill provided for lunch. Card payment is not available. They use the card machine of their nearby petrol pump to avoid paying taxes. While I can only tell you about my experience, and hope that you don't book, but even if you did, please make sure to not give the complete payment upfront.

A wonderful little hotel with only several rooms in a 400 years old palace in the very center of the walled fortress of the 12th century. Great location, next to the Jain Temple, main attraction of the walled city and close to lovely roof top restaurant. The roof top terrace of the hotel is also a very nice quote place to spend some time in the evening, looking at the town below. We have staid in 3 different rooms and they were all different since it’s a historical palace, vue they all had a unique own character. The hotel manager and staff were very helpful, kind and accommodating.

We had a great time at his heritage site. The rooms are auspicious and the best part was the night-city view and sunrise from the roof top restaurant that the hotel has. The service is the best that you could get in Jaisalmer. Mr. Taj- the home keeper took an extra effort made sure we comfortably get to Jodhpur and made breakfast at 5 am in the morning.

We just had our trip to Jaisalmer. We stayed there in Desert Haveli Guest House inside the great Jaisalmer Fort, popularly known as Golden Fort, i.e. Sonar Kella. The view from our room window and from the rooftop restaurant was just fabulous. One thing I must mention here.. We were served by two staff there namely Taj Md. and Abdul bhaiya. Their service and behaviour was just awesome. They are indeed a very good human being. If you go there and stay there in this hotel, you will personally realise how good they are. One example of their hospitality is.. We reached there in the hotel too early. We have our baby with us. So, we requested to arrange a room for us. They arranged us another room immediately to get ourself refreshed. They did everything possible to serve for us. We are so satisfied with their service.

Very poor service. Over exploited us. We arrived at night. The guesthouse owner refused to provide extra blankets to us. He in the morning demanded extra money even when we paid the money at night itself. Charged us over price of Rs 30 for water bottle with MRP 20. Worst tea served in morning and that too was cold. No water in taps. we could not even use the loo.

Very beautiful ancient place with good photography location. This place is 10-12minutes away from jaisalmer city . It is place where ladies of royal family were cremated and then a small monument ( chatri) was made for individual memory....some are broken and also few are under restoration...there are two sets of monuments....one is at higher grounds and you have to climb on a trail full of stones....difficult for elderly people to climb...they can enjoy the view of monuments at lower level...also windmills are nearby by and they also are good for photo's....many movie shoots have taken at this place...must visit place....

The place is beautiful. We went there in evening to enjoy sunset. The place is majestic during sunset. The issue is with the guide there. He stands at the gate and i said to him his services is not required. Even after saying continuosly he started following us and started pestering for money. This place felt very uncomfortable the most in our entire trip. Going with a family we have to stand down to defend ourself. Otherwise the place was beautiful. Please take care of this issue.

This place is 5 km away from Jaisalmer Fort. The architect and the work is really awesome but the entry free of Rs 100 is a bit much. You can get a share auto (Rs 20) to reach here, but if you are returning from there to the main city then you will have to wait a bit as autorickshaws don't come often. If you are looking for peace then this place is less crowded and luxurious.

Bada Bagh is a complex of royal cenotaphs situated about 6-7kms from Jaisalmer main city. It's a place dedicated to members of royal family and their cenotaphs are built. Away from hustle bustle of city Bada Bagh is nice place to watch sunset in a peaceful ambience. The cenotaphs are designed uniquely and each has an intricate detailing. It's a good place for photography and also the surrounding is very beautiful with windmills all around and there's a pond just infront of the complex. It is quite a big area but there are no signs no boards nothing. Just a security guard is stationed there. The entry fee to this place is Rs 150 per person which is extravagant and totally not justified. There are no facilities in the complex and they are charging 150Rs. Visit here only during the sunset because the view is good and photos will come nice. If you are thinking of visiting it any other time of the day it's not worth travelling 6-7 kms away from city and paying 150Rs per person to enter.

More than an archeological site, it is an scenic spot amidst the deserted area of Jaisalmer. A large collection of royal cenotaphs outside the city. An absolute beauty and picturesque spot with the amazing sunset views. It is suggested to accompany a local person or a private vehicle with knowledgeable driver so that you get to understand this place . There is an entry charge of 150rs per person. Nutshell, a great photogenic place.

A good place to visit if you are like good architecture building with great details. There is nothing else here other than lots of "chathri" as memorial for royal families...Ticket price are on the higher side with 150 per person. Evenings are great time to visit for taking good pictures.

Bada bagh is the place for remembering of old Kingdom of Jaisalmer & their natives. These chatri or monuments were built-up by Jaisalmer Darbar families .The Pota of the diseased Kingdom was built in this monument or chatri. From here in the evening sunset can be viewed. The ticket for this place is Rs 150/- per person.

Like the description says these are cenotaphs dedicated to the royal family of Jaisalmer. It is situated on the outskirts of the city but it’s not very far from it. Roughly around 4-6kms from anywhere near fort area. It’s a very nice place for folks who are interested in photography or in general getting their pictures clicked. The windmills in the backdrop adds another dimension to it. The entry ticket is 150 rupees per person for normal touristy visit and separate charges for pre wedding etc. Now when it comes to maintenance of it, I think the movements maintenance and cleanliness is up to the mark. There are of course some cenotaphs crumbling which I think are being restored by the archaeological department. Issue is that way inside is not maintained. There is a good number of cenotaphs at a certain height and the way to it is not at all safe. I did not see any guard inside the premise to stop people from sitting atop on artifacts etc. Like every tourist destination this place is also crowded with guides but we didn’t take any. In terms of tourist crowd we went on a public holiday during season time but still it was moderately crowded only and we didn’t have to wait anywhere to click pictures or move around. Parking wise there is ample parking along the road side after entering the ticketing barrier. I did not find any washrooms there which I think should have been provided.

The place is located a little away from the city and one would need to rent a bike or car to reach here. Was here for the sunrise which was average. The architecture is amazing and the place is serene and away from the city hustle. The ticket price was a little higher(₹150).

Tanot Mata Mandir is situated near India Pak Border at Jaisalmer. This temple is a witness of the 1971 India Pakistan War. At the time of war more than 50 bombs from Pakistan had fallen here. But none of them was a blast due to the power of Mata Rani. She protect our army. After the war Pakistan chief visited here to see the miracle of our Goddess.

First of all the road.. it's absolutely WOW.. the border road.. or you can say the road leading to longewala and Tanot is absolute beauty.. awesome road with desert both sides.. it's a treat to wonderlust eyes 😍😍.. Now, talking about the temple, it is brilliantly renovated/rebuilt by BRO.. Photography is allowed even inside the temple, so, it's a great experience.. Overall, Beautiful temple with beautiful views of the Thar Desert..

One of the most vigilant temple of India, situated very close to the Indo-Pak border (approx 30km). This temple is completely maintained by BSF India, and it has a long history of that. You must visit this place once in your lifetime. Definitely put it in your bucket list if you are visiting Jaisalmer. The distance from Jaisalmer city is around 150km. This place is not only a spiritual place, it also has a significant contribution in our history (1965 & 1971 Indo-Pak war). Amazing temple with cleanliness run by army personnel. It's near the border, on its gate, you can get permission for going to border must give identification cards, should have two. You can look at ancient well and buy bsf clothes that fund temple. Be cautious of your steps and goats. Be friendly to them. Nearby you can find shops for eating and resting.

Tanot mata- temple is a historical place. It is related to the India- Pakistan war.This is one of the rare temples where the priest is from the Indian Army. Devotees are full of attachment to the Goddess which they consider as Hinglaj mata Avatar. The temple is situated approximately 120 kilometres far from Jaisalmer city. Between the road trip you can see a lot of desert and many beautiful landscapes. The temple is well managed and has some good eating places outside the temple. If you're coming to jaisalmer don't miss coming here.

Please keep Tanot Mata temple in your bucket list if you are in Jaisalmer. The road to Tanot is very well maintained and it is a scenic drive through the desert. Keep 45-60 min at least for the temple to understand the history and importance of this border temple in the Indo-pak war of 1971. The temple is very clean and well maintained. Washrooms are there and You will get plenty of restaurants with good quality food in front of the temple.

A very historical place and temple having great value in hindu belief. This is managed by BSF (border security force) and has a limited timing of visit. Overall a must visit place when you are in or around Jaisalmer laungewala border area.

There is also a souvenir shop which has wine glasses, clocks, hoodies etc. It was good and the money given to these will go to Indian Army which is feel good.

This place hits you hard. National fervour, desh prem and absolute respect for fallen heroes it transcends time and make you feel amidst the battle. Tastefully done with complete military decorum, the tanks and guns enhances the ambience. Heart pumping, The light and sound show is icing on the cake. A must visit and pay homage to martyrs. Very good place and very clean .All the points inside is well maintained. It's a good initiative to educate civilians. You can see some of the old tanks and other artifacts. Also, a small documentary on Indian forces is very informative for the next generation. Our babies are very happy to visit the museum.

There is a sound and light show in the evening. All things are well maintained by the Indian army....overall a great experience.

Nice place for dwelling into patriotism. The Pakistani war equipment are displayed which add a little enthusiasm. Kindly enter into it with your time (min 45minutes) they show 12 minutes audio visual movie on Indian army. There are different halls showing Gallery on indian army, navy and weapons. Well connected with NH-15.

Jaisalmer War museum is a wonderful effort in exhibiting the valour and victory of Indian Military, Tanks, Trucks, Radars, weaponry are all exhibited very neatly. The photos of important events of historical battles fought and won by India are exhibited in photo gallery. It offers insight into our military force hence its a worthy visit for all who feel pride over our military

You must visit this place if you love our Indian army. This is little bit out of city. Here there are many actual armour kept which Indian army has captured from Pakistan army in war with Pakistan. Which includes army tanks, guns, and other armoury. One feels proud to know the history of our brave Indian army. Here you can get a guide also if you have near about 15 persons group. Guide charges are around 400 for a group. Audia visual 12 minutes show is also there, but ticket cost is extra. You can take combo ticket of museum entry and audio visual show ticket. 1.30 pm to 3 pm this audio visual show is closed for lunch time.

This War Memorial is a place with display of Indian army's tanks and other vehicles and few from those captured in the wars against Pakistan. It also has a display of Indian army's history, victories against our neighbours and many more memorable incidents depicted through photos and memorabilia. There is a 15 minutes audio visual presentation and a souvenir shop at the location. This place gives us Indians a sense of pride and evokes patriotic feeling.

To get a good visit of the place enter the place about at 5pm(get there earlier because getting a ticket might take time due to huge crowd). 1 hour would be enough to go around the place , read and feel the area. At 6pm get yourself the evening show ticket which starts at 6:30PM. That's something I felt is the best thing here and believe me it's gonna make you really emotional at the end of the show.

A great place to witness all the glorious past of the Indian Army. Entry ticket cost is ₹55 - ₹30 for the entrance and ₹25 for the AV show. We didn’t go for the AV show, so you may not wish to purchase the tickets too. But we were not told that it’s optional. That’s a bit disappointing. The place is very well maintained. There’s a souvenir shop inside and a small restaurant near the entrance. There are two memorial halls describing the main highlights of the Indian army. Definitely recommended ✅ I would like it that they clearly mention the separate costs for entry and AV show, and tell the public about not necessarily buying the AV ticket. Its a place where its certain that you'll feel pride to its highest for our beloved great nation. Many thanks to Indian Army for constructing such a fabulous, interactive place to introduce common man about what army does for the nation. Parking is huge & free. Entry ticket is nominal but requires govt ID. This place has a cafeteria as well to get some fast food or ice cream. A little play area as well for younger kids. Request to mgmt : Pls check washrooms as well. They were in disastrous condition, however the rest of the compound was super clean and very well maintained.

Very nice. If you are interested to know about the Pakistan attack which happened here in the year 1971 it is a must visit place l. They have a museum and a small theatre as well where they show a short clip explaining how Laungewala was protected.

Nice place for patriots like us to visit! The audiovisual show was however of very poor quality. There were few tanks ( captured from Pakistan) and military jeeps. Canteen, restaurant and a souvenir shop . All managed by BSF.

Visit here to remember the 1971 Longewala war. It is the place where modern India's battle of thermopylae took place. 120 soldiers defended the post against an entire tank brigade supported by infantry. Most of the inventory was captured and are in display in this memorial. Nicely maintained, army officials are very friendly and courteous here. Small memorabilia shop is a must visit. Avoid going here in peak summers with babies as the heat would be too high. Get a first hand experience of almost real bunker when you goto watch the small movie there. The canteen provides small decent snacks and meals.

Great place to visit and know about our soldiers. This is the place where famous 1971 war on Western theater took place. It show cases and depicts actual positions of Indian defence forces during Dec'71. The full story is narrated through a 15 minute movie in an underground bunker managed by BSF. Entry is free. There is a small museum having war paraphernalia, tanks, planes etc. Must pay homage to our brave soldiers who sacrificed themselves for the country at the memorial erected here.🇮🇳. Good initiative to showcase the work and dedication of our soldiers. Well managed by BSF.

Sorry guys I will be partial to rate this place. It truly deserves a five star. Wish I could add more. This is the least we can do to show our gratitude towards the Brave soldiers who died protecting us and our borders. Can spend around an hour's time. Do taste a homely and sumptuous meal prepared at the border cafe in the premises.

Each weapon has its history and when it was used. Past news articles about war. How global world reacted to this and who supported whom. There is short film as well on how this whole war took place. That’s a must watch. This place is around 100-100km. far from Jaisalmer.

Must visit if you are coming to jaisalmer. It's ~120 kms from jaisalmer, but the best part of the journey is the awesome road in the middle of desert. There were few tanks, guns on display for public during BSF Foundation day, there was also a live war drill going on in the deserts. Felt goosebumps seeing our army and BSF standing to save us round the clock. Important: there is nothing available for 120 kma between jaisalmer and longewala, so plan your journey accordingly to bring your foods, water and fuel. Carry some chocolates for village kids.

An historical place, well kept to its spirit by BSF. Words always fall less when we try to explain the deeds of our Jawans at the border. Visiting these places is always a tribute to the incidents that happened there.

1971..The battle of Laungewala. Many of us are familiar with Maj Chandpuri and Mathura Das while watching Border Movie as a kid. Laungewala is the place where Indian bravehearts took a stand against a far superior force of the Pakistani Army. The destroyed Paki Tanks lay witness to the Saga of bravery. I visited this place in 2002 and now again in 2023... it still gives me goosebumps. Salute to the fallen Heros. One must visit and show this Memorial to our children.. lest they forget.

A no miss location during your visit to Jaisalmer. This memorial park reminds one of the amazing reselience the Indian Army had shown when they were just 120 soldiers on foot v/s 3k-4k soldiers with tanks at the other end. This was a decisive point of the 1971 war. You can see real tanks and jeeps captured during the war. Don't miss the Maggi at the army canteen!!

The place is worth visiting with family. Kids learn about the India Pakistant war in 1971. The road to Longewala has awesome scenic views. There are several sand dunes on the way where people stop and do photography in sand.

This is a great place if you want to visit and learn about the war. One can walk and see the weapon used during the war. Enough space for parking, there are public toilet facilities, however no water in the toilet. Very dirty outside the war memorial. People drink in open and leave all the bottles, plastic. Foreigners are not allowed.

This is one of the locations of the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The place contains some of the tanks captured by India from the Pakistan military, some information boards about the war and the martyrs, a view point and a souvenir shop. There was an AV show as well which I couldn't attend. Most importantly, I loved the quotes about the soldiers and the military that were painted on the stones. It takes around 45 minutes to cover it. There is a nice feel-good factor about this place. PS: The Hindi film 'Border' is about the same war that took place at Longewala.

Always feel proud to reached here. We won a battle here with courage. We just have only 200 soldiers and pak attached with 38 Patton Tanks brigade but our brave soldiers sacrificed their life to save our territories. We salute our brave soldiers. Jai Hind

I personally loved this place. I felt an emotional connection because of the long history. They show a small film which is a must watch because it shows the whole story of longewala. It costs INR 30. I happened to interact with the soldiers posted there. They also explained to me the details of the incident. Each and every thing in the museum is very well maintained.

This is a War Memorial and Patriotism is at peak. This place is a beautiful drive from Sam Sand Dunes or Jaisalmer City. Both routes are extremely scenic and pleasure to drive. The place has a lot of army vehicles and they also show a movie on the war. There is also a cafeteria which sells pizza, Maggie, tea and cold drinks. An important place not to miss when you visit Jaisalmer.

To reach here from Jaisalmer, make sure you have your vehicle fuel tank full because there is every chance of losing directions and there is no petrol pump for many kilometers. Especially if you are also visiting Tanot Rai Mata temple. The museum is unique in that there are real bunkers and real tanks captured from the battle.

It is also walkable from Nathmal ki Haveli.one can experience the rajastanis and their welcoming. Roads are narrow but can walk easily enjoying the streets and food etc. The entry ticket is 50 per head and a guide is given for this. He will explain and let you know the many things of haveli. Can capture good clicks and must visit place. The sunset would be great and prefer to visit by evening.

Salem Singh ki Haveli is amazing! The place oozes history and has this cool old-world vibe. The architecture is like a work of art, and the staff is super friendly and on top of everything. It's got that perfect mix of vintage charm and modern comfort – totally loved my stay there! If you're into unique cultural spots, this one's a winner.

One of the few instances I have faced in more than 25 years of travelling that a tourist location wasn't interested in admitting visitors. The excuse, 'You are only one person, somebody has to come and keep opening and closing doors for you!!!'. I hope the authorities are taking note and do something about this!

Moti Mahal is a magnificent structure, where extraordinary architecture and stone-carving craftsmanship are on display. Sadly, its caretakers appear to be racing against time. Conservation efforts are outpaced by the structure’s natural degradation. For about 100 Rupees, you’re allowed to access a rooftop and observe the upper levels from close-up. On the day I visited, An area of roof appeared to have recently collapsed. The stone of the original structure, as most of the historic buildings in Jodhpur, was dry-stacked (no mortar in the joints.) conservation efforts appear to be introducing mortar, and, from what I can tell, this is failing.

Haveli of Salam Singh – Even before you head to the Jaisalmer Fort, a part of the UNESCO Serial nomination of the Hill Forts of Rajasthan, you should visit the haveli of Salam Singh. Only for genuine travellers, this is far from glitz and glamour, but a wonderful case study. The attendant ‘Gajju’ is a treasure trove of knowledge, very patient, and enthusiastic about his skill. He’ll give you demonstrations of fixing details in stone. The haveli is exquisitely carved and has multiple names, including - Moti Mahal, Jahaz Mahal.

The guide was so good, explained so many basics of how brilliantly those buildings were build, what is the architecture and the reasons. Heard that it was the first building built outside the fort at that time, it was just desert area around fort. Also most of the things are detachable. Indeed a wonder.🤩

I wish, I could have given ZERO star. Ticket is Rs 50/person + 20 if you want to click photos. NOT WORTH AT ALL. Guy who act as an guide will ask you definition of HAVELI :p ... just see attached photos and don't waste your time and money.

A guide is highly recommended. The best thing is that the guide, who is a resident of the palace, is quite knowledgeable and has a very welcoming nature. Tourists who are passionate about historical architectures would be able to truly appreciate the grandeur of this palace.

Very disappointed to go there, as the owner also lives there, so only a few part is allowed to see, they take Rs 25 for this. Also even after going there after 10 AM, i am told to come after 11 AM. From outside it look very nice in terms of its architecture.

Nothing much is there if you have been to other palaces such Umed Palace etc. I found the palace to be very humble. Ticket price is 200 per person

Rani ka mahal inside the Jaisalmer fort is a majestic structure with intricate carving on yellow marble. The jarokas are masterpiece and legendary in stone work. Probably, at some point in time it will be open to public.

I was very excited to come back to the Jaisalmer Rani Ka Mahal after my 1st visit long ago, in 2010. It is a beautiful palace with gorgeous courtyards and fantastic city views. Also, it’s great that, post-Covid, they resumed their well-curated, inspiring Audioguide service (inc. w foreign tourist ticket). The main drawback is that, as of Dec-22, ~30% of the galleries and objects were closed/removed for ‘conservation’, hopefully they will reopen them soon. One final tip- go early morning to avoid the tourist group crowds. It can get suffocating to navigate thru the narrow corridors.

Most third class camp resort I have experienced. They shown so many attractions while I book . They force me to pay 2000 per person for jeep safari . I am not agree with them . When we go to desert we book same jeep safari by 400 per person . How shameful this . Never book this resort for family enjoyment . Food is also not good and not serve in hygienic.

Just meh.. Too expensive for what it is. 600Rs for foreigners with audioguide. At least 1/3 of the rooms are closed or unavailable. Dusty and unorganized. You can't even listen to the audioguide when guides are shouting near you.

Nice site to visit while inside jaisalmer fort.

Raja ka mahal is a very beautiful part of the cort and lots of royal artifacts can be found here include the throne, robes.etc. this part is in the centre of the fort and audio guide facility can be availed here in multiple languages ranging from hindi, english, french, german, etc. The beautiful carvings and meticulous artwork on the exterior is beautiful.

Beautiful architecture, intricate carvings. A must visit when in Jaisalmer. I recommend taking your time reading the descriptions in each room.Definitely go to the roof to see the entire haveli. Steep steps which are a tad bit claustrophobic, something to consider while taking senior citizens.

It is walkable from Jaisalmer fort and Patwan ki haveli. The lanes and houses depicts the Rajasthani culture. This haveli is constructed by two brothers which looks same but their are differences if observed keen. The haveli is similar. People are living in it. There would be cloth Store and Sweets as well. Wonderful place.

I did not visit inside museum but outside quite nice with 1 or 2 building are look like this.. but all place that I walked pass are dirty.

This place has no tickets, as this place is not for public as the owner lives here. but you can see it from outside and central part of it after entry where you get some things to buy. Good architecture and very nice carving done on walls.

Such beautiful streets with just yellow and golden walls You could really get lost yourself with these beautiful streets It's between many streets and do turn on your maps You would like to get a lot of collective stuffs around the streets People are really friend and calm , they would help you !! Many Rajasthani sweets are available around the area and the haveli itself have a lot of clothing options that too colourful There is a milk shop which serves hot and sweet milk Would recommend to try

Truly magnificent work of architecture. A private property built by the minister since the 1800s and currently used by his two sons has equal share of left and right side of this building. One can see the difference in art and style of stone carvings from left to right on every floor depicting the ornaments, women wore at that time.

This place is a hidden gem! While you're walking through the narrow streets of Jaisalmer filled with remnants of recent construction works, this haveli will suddenly pop right in front of your eyes! Try to capture the whole haveli in one frame. You're definitely gonna need an ultrawide lens with a huge FOV.

This is a heritage site and the family still lives here and they also sell local stuff. Visit if u have spare time on hand. Else Skippable…

I am not sure one should visit or not but I am damn sure if you are visiting the patwao ki haveli then you can save your time and spend some more time time at fort or Gadisar lake.

This Nathmal Ji ki haveli was commissioned to serve as the residence of Diwan Mohata Nathmal, the then Prime Minister of Jaisalmer. Maharawal Beri Sal commissioned the construction of this Haveli. The architects of this haveli were Hathi and Lulu who were brothers. There is an interesting story regarding this Haveli construction. It is said that the two brothers started building different facets of haveli simultaneously. In those days there were no such instruments, which could keep a track on continuity and thus when this building came up finally it had an irregular shape. There are two Elephants made of yellow stone. These life-size replicas have been put in front of the main entrance so that it looks as if they are guarding the Haveli. There are also pictures engraved on pillars and walls. These consist of Horses, Cattle, and depiction of Flora among other things. But the most interesting aspect of this haveli is the drawing of modern amenities such as cars, fans. It is a tourist delight to visit and see its architecture.

The Haveli has such intricate architecture, it stands as a proof for extraordinary artisan work. One side of the mahal is subtly different to the other side as it was architected by two brothers that decided to pick either side to make it look alike however incorporating subtle differences.

This was an amazing puppet show. It is a cultural centre of excellence. It teaches the musical instruments as well cultural program. It has classes on castanet musical instruments. It is great show for children. Lots of Indian as well as foreigners witness the shows daily. They have more than 2 shows daily.

The puppet show is really amazing. The artists are incredible. Singing, puppet dancing , musical instruments are awesome. They have two shows every evening. 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. charges only 200 per person with camera and including museum too.

Amazing museum that seeks to fill in a gap in the local tourist offerings illustrating the deep global connections of the region through trade. From ancient menorahs to ancient minotaurs. Also includes an unflinching analysis on local society and history. It’s worth taking the time to visit and read the panels.

A remarcable effort of a former teacher to keep the nomadic desert heritage alive, a great folk musical performance . Incredible good voice and kartal( castagnette) performance.

Nice atmosphere, very humble and simple… like ancient time, when puppet shows where the most exiting show kids can see in the desert areas… this is the philosophy you should appreciate this place and the passion of its founder, an old proud teacher 🩵🩵🩵

We visited this beautiful museum in May. Since it was off season, only we two were present to watch the puppet show. We thought we won't be able to see it because only 2 were there. But we are so thankful to the management that they kept the show only for us! What a wonderful gesture it was! The performers showed us puppetry performances like Ganesh poojan, horse rider, sword fighting, a magician, a girl dancing etc. We also met Shri N. K Sharma (head of the museum). Museum also has preserved so many things about Jaisalmer. Really, such a wonderful man for keeping the Rajasthani tradition alive in this era of social media /internet. I humbly request you to visit this place, the talented performers won't let you down. Show some love!

Hi, this is the guy with Yoga :) This is an amazing place, full of knowledge. It contains collections and information on humanities, history, geography, culture, etc. collected by the old curator. The curator is a wise elder. His books provide a concise introduction to local literature and history, and he is also willing to explain it to tourists. His knowledge is respectable. The puppet show was also very good and interesting. Many people came to watch it with their families in the evening, and they performed short stories. Unfortunately, I don't understand Indian, but I can still feel the fun. It really made us spend a happy time. It is a place that is highly recommended for everyone to visit.

I didn't have much expectations and was pleasantly surprised. I have never been to a puppet show before and thought it was really impressive. The music and singing were good and the puppet master was talented. Not really any English is spoken but I didn't find I missed it. Only thing I would change is less pushing to buy something. Let the experience be the purchase and give a donation to the artist if you want.
