Peaceful temple with amazing centuries old architecture. Main hall was closed for renovations but still plenty to see. I did not have to pay entrance fee and did not see the ticket booth as other mentioned. Monks are around if you want to drop by and ask about Buddhism, meditation or culture. Great place to visit.

Amazing temple in the City Center; I visited it on a sunny day, and the visit could be difficult without head protection. There is a places that do not allow women entry, and you have to respect the customs, but it is something strange. If you want, you can meditate in some of the temples of the complex and talk to some Buddhist monks that study in some of the Buddhist schools inside.

Visited for the last evening of Loy Krathong and happened to walk in just as the night time light projection show started on the temple, and what an unexpected treat! Truly a beautiful way to celebrate the festival with a vivid display of lanterns, water, Buddha and mandalas. Only 50 baht entry for tourists which is worth the walk around the complex alone. Fun to see the young monks letting loose and having fun with bangers and sparklers 🧨🏮🕉

Extraordinary temple. The elephant statues on the temple are superb. I only wish we could see this temple when it was in perfect condition. The entrance is 50 Baht, and the place is very calming. Highly recommended if you're in Chiang Mai. It's a different temple from the others in the city.

Very nice temple to visit. 700 + years worth of history. Many buildings have interesting architecture if you are interested in them. I visit in April thus very hot as there is not much tree shade.

The main temple hall was under renovation while we were there. Which was a shame as we have been told that the main hall is the highlight of this temple. However, we still enjoy this temple overall. Nice to see ancient ruined that reminiscent of ancient Northern empire that used to rule in this part of Thailand. Similar to other temple in the city, there are multiple smaller temple hall that you could go wondering around and learn about the meaning and teaching that each temple has to offer. Note that it does get very hot and humid during the day, so best try to plan to avoid this.

While Chiang Mai is the city of Temples (and the U-Turn), this temple is iconic due to its location in the old city and the number of self-esteem taken here. On a serious note, it is iconic Buddhist temple well worth the visit. The main assembly temple is currently being renovated with no access, still a magical place to see.

An historical and breathing taking temple, I would recommend visitng during the evening / night to enjoy more quiet time. The place is beautifully maintained and the ambience of the tall trees and nature giving you serenity.

Stunning temple worth visiting. Didn’t spend much time here other than to quickly admire it. Other beautiful temples, monuments, and HUGE trees around the grounds. 50 baht per person. There are tuktuk drivers around the area to easily get a ride to the next stop.

Visited in the evening and got to see Wat Chedi Luang with the sun setting in the sky, which made for a memorable view. There is a huge night market around Wat Chedi. If you are there already have a walk around. The goods are pretty standard but there’s plenty of local foods to try out if you are so inclined.

Amazing temple, and so much to explore here. Really loved the old Stone runs and all the details here. This was magnificent! Only reason i have to deduct a star here is that women Arnt allowed everywhere here. This is just stupid, and I had expected more from Thailand in 2024

My favourite temple to visit in Chiang Mai. Chill vibe. Not as busy and commercial as the other temples. Really huge ground to spend some quiet moment walking and sitting around. Very beautiful 600 years old temple. Entrance fees 50 baht is well worth it.

Awesome place! You can walk around the area for different temples. One of the tiny temples in the front is painted really nice, but unfortunately is only available to men. The temple in the back has a lot of nice details including serpents/dragons and elephants. There's also a giant lying buddha in the back and wonderful temple on the right side with a white detailed arc.

One of the top Temples to visit in Chiang Mai. Very impressive collection of buildings within the grounds together with the 15th Century Chedi. One building also houses a number of Golden Buddhas including a reclining Buddha. Plenty to see here, the Grand Hall is unfortunately closed due to restoration work.

If you stay in Old City, I recommend you to go for a walk in the evening and feel a different charm from the daytime. It's like a gift that we meet by chance. When you meet a magnificent old tower, you will be amazed without realizing it. It's also good to go around the huge tower and enjoy the various Buddha statues around you.

An indescribable experience! I had found it on the list of attractions ....and was intrigued. But it is one of those things - you can never really experience it until you have been there physically. The grandness of this monument is simply stunning and left me utterly speechless. And I must mention these absolutely grand and mammoth trees that left me awestruck. They were one of the most beautiful things I have seen.

Beautiful temple with a small entrance fee for kids and adults. Free for 2 years old below. easily accessible by grab or tuk tuk at the old town. The smaller temple near the ticket counter is where women are not allowed. The main building when we came was under maintenance. There is large gong where my kids were so excited about. You can see some parts of the temple were ruined. We got a better picture behind the temple where most of the elephant structures were still intact. Nice garden around it and you can see monks walking around.

Beautiful temple area. You'll get some lovely photos and there are lots of shady areas under the trees on a hot day. You cannot fail to be impressed here. Some parts of the complex do not allow Women in. There is a small entry charge and you can hire trousers and tops if you forget to dress appropriately. Well worth a visit

One of the biggest temple complex located at the heart of Old City, Chiang Mai. At the center lies the remains of centuries old ancient temple building surrounded by many newly built structures. This is a very touristy place so not much serene like other Chiang Mai temples. But worth a visit.

Beautiful temple, very chill vibes all around the site. Not to crowded. They encourage you to talk to the monks at the “monk chat” area which is a great way to learn about their culture.

The main temple complex in Chiang Mai's innermost old city, absolutely stunning and should not be missed. Come with knees and shoulders covered and be respectful and go into the smaller temples, they are beautiful. The largest temple is currently being worked on, but don't let this stop you from visiting, it will only give you another reason to come back again, and you will want to come back!

A place you can't (afford to) miss when visiting Chiang Mai. The giant stupa (or Chedi as it is locally called) dominates the skyline of the old town and beckons everyone to come and view its majesty. Over 600 years have passed since the building of it started and it has seen kings and kingdoms come and go. Currently it is surrounded by a complex of temples and side buildings that are also worth visiting. The main temple at the entrance of the complex just underwent remodeling in April 2024 and so looks as good as new now, although for me personally I prefer to see some of the wear of time like on the smaller temples more at the back. Perhaps best to avoid going during the hottest time of day since shade is scarce and the stones radiant quite some heat.

The most spectacular temple complex in all of Chiang Mai and a must visit. I love how pigeons are inhabiting the small little broken gaps in the structure. I also loved the plants and flowers in the grounds!

It's the main city temple with old temple from the ancient time.. so good , if you're in chiang Mai shouldn't miss out this place. Its so relaxing and when you see the temple with your own eyes , you will feel the vibes around.

Really cool set of temples within the centre of the old town. Very different to all of the other temples in Chiang Mai, and very different to anything we’ve seen before anywhere else. You have to pay a 50 baht entrance fee, which is not a problem. If you’re nearby definitely worth a visit

We really enjoyed the night Bazaar with all the different stalls where you can buy clothes, art, craft etc. And the food market is just really nice and the food is delicious and cheap. You can pick any type of food you fancy and eat on the tables there. There is so much choice that it should please everyone. We also went to the Thai boxing show which is hosted in the same area. It is a bit touristy but it was interesting!

Nice place to check out the night local market. You can find local Thai souvenirs here. A tip, you can bargain the price a little:) They also have Thai dress photo boot if anyone interested in wearing the Thai Northern cultural outfit. Its fun, try it out and enjoy the experience! But to be honest this night bazaar market was full of excitement back in the days.

Bigger than expected! When I first arrived I thought it was just the food market and a few street stalls but it kept going and going with more food markets and gift/clothes stalls. The first food market you get to is slightly more expensive because it's very nicely laid out with lots of seating and live music. Further along there are smaller food stalls that are more typical prices. Good selection of food, mostly Asian but a few other options too. The clothes stalls are happy for you to haggle and there's a few souvenir stalls as well. Also a handful of beautiful handmade stalls (textiles and paintings) so something for everyone.

Busy, colourful, crowded night market. Great for tourists, but very few things for sale that you couldn't find everywhere else. The bowls in these photos were exceptional.

Truly amazing experience and thoroughly enjoyable. When you visit the area you simply must experience the night market which seems to go on and on forever. It is not only popular with tourists but also locals use it for all their needs. No shortage of places to buy food and drinks and there are communal areas to sit and enjoy your food and drink or even to just people watch. Make sure you leave enough room in your suitcase!

Best nightmarket we’ve been to and we’ve been to quite a few over all Thailand. This one is the most elaborate and with good vibes. A lot of different foodcourts with live music. Good variety of food, the most variety we’ve seen! And it’s all very good, people super friendly.

A lots of Northern traditional and culture to explore such as Temple, market, stalls of different kinds of things, foods and drinks with full entertainment. In future, there will be walking street like Sunday Walking street upon Chiangmai Government Plan to be on Friday or Saturday or Sunday where you have checked on updates. During Songkran Festival 2022, found a lot of interesting foods and drinks so here’s ‘Brother Coffee’ - recommended to Try ‘Signature Drink’ you’ll definitely love it. Good atmosphere, live music, really popular place, inside you can eat from all the street food on open-air. Street food really good here, specially if you want to try it for the first time. Small market vendors everywhere are of course part of the place

Very entertaining area, good food and big variety for everyone tastes. I was able to find different vegetarian options. Many local vendors with unique handcrafts. There is a group of artist painting right there and they are amazing.

I really love the night Bazaar in ChiangMai❤️ It is clean and tidy. Very comfortable to eat here. There are lots of choice of food. I love the grill shrimps and fish so much! Also, there are lots of local hand-made products. The handcrafted postcards we have found in the Bazaar are so beautiful and unique! This Bazaar is very different from the Bazaar in Bangkok. I love ChiangMai more.

great Bazaar, lots of food options. would recommend when coming to the area. the variety changes from country to country from stall to stall. just like the rest of Thailand the food market is extremely clean and seems to be very safe to eat. you do not see one piece of trash on the floor! l would definitely say that these food stalls were cleaner than even one that you were fine at the mall in the United States.

Definitely more of a modern take to a night market. There's modern stalls set up and a wide cafeteria type area with lots of fusion type foods. There's also lots of 'hipster' type local shops in the area that are worth exploring! There are really cool handmade items and other little souvenirs that are more unique. Note: Visited prior to COVID, so things may be slightly different.

It's very attractive for night sightseeing. You can find various things you need for souvenirs or just want to get some for yourself. The crafts were good, moderate prices and you can get cheaper by night and bulk buying.

Wow! What a great place! A fantastic range of food stalls with offerings from all around the world, surrounding a central area of tables and chairs where you can sit, eat and enjoy the great live music. Several bars, offering a range of alcoholic drinks. The main clientele appeared to be on the more mature side at around 7.30pm, when we were there. We would have gone back later but the rest of the street was full of markets and stalls. We’ll definitely go back though, even if it’s just to sit and chill and enjoy the music.

A tourist trap for those souvenir presents and a good exercise walking the many streets. It has plenty of atmosphere but is crowded. There are are many 'side' streets/squares with many food stalls around the the tables providing anything from BBQ to stir fry, sea food to meats. Get a Chang beer and food of your choice and be entertained. Enjoy!

There are a few compounds, you can find seating surrounded by food stalls, akin to other night markets in Thailand. Plus, you can stroll along the street as there are several shops offering clothing and souvenirs. One visit seems sufficient for me. No need to revisit repeatedly.

There's a lot of food choices. The food court had music. We tried pad Thai, spring rolls and chicken wings. We went both Thursday and Friday nights. Thursday was far busier. You can find anything you need and a lot of artwork and souvenirs. Many massage options, we had Thai massages at a shop on a side street. It's a good experience. The restroom in the food court was clean, but charged for toilet paper.

It's been one of my bucket lists to come here in Chiang Mai! It's quite large and there are lots of stalls, you can get souvenirs here. You should try Chiang Mai sausage! It has lots of herbs and is very tasty! I bought some Mochi and these are also delicious.

This temple was within view and walking distance from our hotel. A small fee was collected to enter, and they were very strict about the dress code. Women must have their shoulders and legs covered. The grounds are large, and there are so many things to see. We found it very peaceful to sit in the gardens and listen to the bells and water fountains and to take in the smell of incense and candles burning.

Very impressive collection of Temple buildings set in tranquil grounds. Has to be one of the best Temples in the Old City. Magnificent large Gold Stupa. There are little gems of Buddhist teaching pinned to trees in the grounds. In the main building a group of monks were gathered sitting in a line and chanting. People come here to make merit and light candles.

Gold shines from every corner at the temple. Plus, you'll find lifelike wax monks inside. It's nestled in the old city and free, but donations are appreciated.

Wat Phra Singh is one of the oldest and most popular temples in Chiang Mai. This amazing temple located in the heart of the old city, contains supreme examples of Lanna Art. The temple consists of many buildings, but the most spectacular is the golden wihan that houses the Phra Singh (Lion Buddha Image). It is possible to go inside to see the Buddha Statue but just remember to remove your shoes first!

Such an amazing wat! So many beautiful details and statues! Loved my time here. One of the coolest things wad to walk into the temple and see the statues of the monks sitting there, and then walk into the main temple and see the monks praying there!

Chang Mai's greatest temple. Home to the city's most revered Buddha image, the Lion Buddha. If you only have the energy for two or three wats, start here. I loved the murals, the chanting and all the buildings you can poke into here.

This temple in Chiang Mai, which is also the most famous in the city, is located in the heart of the city center and is absolutely beautiful to visit. Lanterns are hung in a temple at the back of the main one and seem to fly in the sky. It's all the more remarkable to admire during a sunrise or sunset. It's really worthwhile to stop and stroll around the garden, and simply take your time.

It’s as beautiful in person as you would expect from the pictures. Also you will find a few small shops and some one selling some delicious flavored water. I recommend the butterfly pee. Worth a visit and probably won’t take you more than 20 minutes to see it all

😊 I visited Wat Phra Singh during my solo backpacking adventure in Chiang Mai and It was absolutely amazing! Walking through the historic courtyards and admiring the beautiful architecture. I found a lot of serenity in this place. It's a must-visit for any solo traveler/ traveler looking to learn more about his historical significance and his religious importance for the community. 😇

Very beautiful Temples / Wat and absolutely worth seeing :) Very well maintained, clean and friendly staff. It's definitely one of our favorites in the Chiang Mai old town area :) I visit a view temple and either way you pay just a few THB for entry or it is for free. But compared to Bangkok the entry on some of the temples in Chiang Mai are only 40/50 THB per person

Beautiful complex of temples with a lovely garden. The monks chanting were mesmerising. The colours (particularly the gold) are stunning and the atmosphere is very calm, even though the hustle and bustle of traffic is not too far away.

This is one of the most beautiful temples I’ve seen in Chiang Mai. Glistering gold in the sun, it looks magnificent. I came on a Sunday morning and even though there are tourists but everyone was polite. There’s no wait to enter.

One of the greatest temples I have seen in Thailand. A must-see when in Chiang Mai. There are several attractions culminating with the golden pagoda in the photos. There are lots of large and smaller buildings that are full of history and serenity. Additionally, there are many small sitting areas for contemplation and enjoying the serenity and peacefulness that the temple provides. Remember to read the many phrases of wisdom that are displayed in the gardens and sitting areas. No tickets are required, but donations are welcomed.

As you enter the temple grounds you’ll notice how grand the temple grounds are, with a main temple and several smaller buildings and some really nice bamboo scenery. The temple itself is ornate, clean, and well-maintained. At the front you’ll see several gold Buddhas, the biggest one is massive and a sight to behold. One thing to note is that most of the signs are in Thai, so if you don’t understand the language you’ll need a translator if you want to read about the history of the temple.

Very nice temple complex I'm my opinion the best in chiang mai, its free to enter the grounds and 40baht to enter the main temple. Lots of gold everywhere and some very realistic wax figures in one of the smaller temples.

It was a place that softened my perceptions as someone who does not take kindly to zoos. They have been able to provide the true natural life of many animals and allow you to see them at a distance rather than behind fences. Being able to see it so close and unobstructed can make both sides feel freer. It's a pretty big zoo and it can take you a whole day to walk around without a car.

If I look at other reviews of 5 years ago it's a must see. I think covid really hit this place. 50% is in construction/maintenance. The place feels like a post apocalyptic place where some animals are left. Sadly most of them look sad and thin. Would recommend to go here so hopefully they can fix the place to apparently their former glory. Would not recommend it for a fun activity sadly. Walking is also quite intense since it's up a mountain. When we were there there were no panda or aquarium.

A really nice zoo with a large selection of animals and plants. A bit hard to see everything without paying for transportation. Quite a few things were missing like the wild cats section, there was a picture of a giraffe on the map, but none were to be found. The Aquarium was also not open. Overall an enjoyable and learning experience.

So nice place have many types of animals to see and make good memories. Just suggested to the people visit this zoo one time in your life may be you like to go again and again. I love that place Have 40B bus fare that bus can move you arroyos zoo

We wasn't sure coming to the zoo reading the reviews. Entry is 150baht, the panda is on its own so there isn't much to see I wouldn't advise. The aquarium was the best part of the zoo, so much to look at. The beer enclosure is pretty much shut. They have minimal animals, but the experience was still very good, the golf carts was very fun but abit expensive.

We enjoyed our time at this zoo. The animals are kept and fed well. They seem to be really quiet and relaxed. The territory of this zoo is huge. You can use golf carts or buses to make your journey easier. I recommend coming to this zoo earlier so that you can see all the animals and have a good time here. My experience was amazing. It's a real fun for both adults and children. Must have for visiting when coming to Chiang Mai.

We had a pretty poor experience. It's a nice, big place to go for a walk. We were quite early. Most of the enclosures were empty. No pandas, although you could enter the panda house there were only life size pictures.

Pretty fun place to go but a lot of the animals have been removed and a bunch of cages are empty. Covid has impacted the zoo pretty badly. Updated: Just went recently with my nieces and nephew and we had a blast. Most if not all the animals are back. Conditions seem better and still a fun walk around the whole zoo.

An amazing zoo! The walking trails are well shaded and the whole park feels like a rainforest. We saw lots of animals. All the exhibits were clean and the animals had lots of room, foliage and enrichment toys. We are used to walking so we had zero problems getting around the park. There are golf carts and buses for those that need it.

I concur with the previous review. While we can attribute Covid for reduced no of visitors and less revenue, Zoo staff can definitely improve on the cleanliness and upkeeping of the Animals. It has lot of potential if the Staff work whole heartedly. Ticket is for Zoo and Aquarium. When Aquarium itslef is closed for maintenance money minded ticket selling agents outside should tell that. If Government and staff are willing to improve on the facility, Tourist can support by paying a visit but only worth 150baht per person. Authorities please consider reducing the price to bring back the glory. Tourists can rent battery car for 350b and one hour is more than enough to cover in its current state.

Over all amazing zoo, lots of exhibits to see. All your typical zoo among. Big cats, giraffes, zebras, bears, exotic birds and much more. We rented a golf cart, 350 for first hour then 300 after. In the end we had it for 3 hours, we planned for 2 hours but there is not enough time to see the zoo in only 2 hours. I would plan for 3-4 hours it’s huge. The zoo is in good condition it did have a few empty enclosures but not that many. It’s still worth coming. You can also feed Asian elephants, feed the deer and cows. All very interesting. The only thing I was let down by was the reptiles section. Not many snakes and the turtles water is so filthy and very smelly. They could do a much better job of keeping on top of this. Not good for the animals Heath to have them In such poor conditions. We didn’t see the panda either as it was extra charge to go into the panda enclosure and I believe they no longer have one. Overall I would recommend the price is very cheap. If you want to rent golf cart bring your driving license as a deposit. If not they have a shuttle bus service (it’s not free)

It was fun to visit this place and we saw some exotic animals from Australia, South America, red panda and a lot of Indian and South East Asian herbivores as well. The collection of flora and fauna is nice although a part of me wished that the animals had a larger enclosure or were free to roam. I didn't like that foreigners were charged 350 while Thais are charged 130.. Discriminatory and insulting, especially as someone who pays taxes in Thailand and even bothered learning intermediate level Thai (although I'm sure if I had claimed I was Thai no one would have forced me, but it's still wrong to discriminate on principle)! And this while the aquarium and panda and some other enclosures were shut down for maintenance and because the panda died, no discount was offered. Me and my Thai friend walked instead of taking the 350 baht golf kart and it was fairly pleasant although she got a bit tired at the end but felt satisfied we chose to walk as we got to go up close and find some unfrequented routes up some hills, overall about 5kms and 500 calories to do the loop, with a bunch of stalls around. I'd suggest walking for young people for a more immersive experience especially when it's not summer. I think some of the animals looked happy and some looked lonely and sad. I didn't see any starving animals atleast so they're being fed and the money isn't all being wasted. Pretty happy with the animal care. Some of the views from uphill is quite nice.

It was a fun experience! We rented a golf cart that ended up coming with a lovely framed photo for only an extra 150 Baht. Its a beautiful zoo, with a lot to see. We were a bit disappointed that the aquarium was closed while we were there, but upgrades! Love that you're able to feed and interact with some of the animals as well!

Aquarium closed, seal display closed, panda died recently so closed, water park closed, the animals look sad, ostriches have pulled out their feathers. The hippo exhibit was good, some of the monkey exhibits were good. Tiger exhibit closed. Giraffe and zebras were good. If you go, plan on 2 hours and pay for the golf cart. Golf cart 350 baht an hour. The zoo is hilly. I walked and is doable but recommend the cart.

Pretty good zoo. It's big. And many animals have big territories to walk. Unfortunately, some places with animals were not available. But it still has things to see. I saw girafs, zebras, some monkeys, a rhino, different birds (mostly they were parrots) and a lot of reptiles. Also there were Australian animals like kangroos. It sad that pandas weren't available to see. Also there was a koala, but it was sleeping.

It was fascinating!!! Such a great place for the whole family to enjoy. There’s a lot to see and to do and it might take all day. No need to work, there are stains where you can have a break, snack or even lunch. It’s beautiful and has a lot of spots for photos and videos. Absolutely must visit in Chiang Mai

Had quite a bad experience here, strongly recommend do not coming here and wasting your time. Dual pricing system in place, foreigners pay 350baht per person and 130baht per person if you are thai. Ticket lady said the panda display is closed since it died and the aquarium is closed. Turns out this was just the tip of the iceberg as so many other displays were closed such as penguins, some reptiles and birds. The conditions the animals are kept in are quite poor. In the 2hours I was there, I probably only saw 1 zoo staff and it was some guy selling vegetables to feed giraffes for 20baht. Its quite clear that not alot of money was put in maintenance of the zoo and care for the animals. Alot of the reptiles were kept in small enclosures with stagnant water. The experience made me feel quite sad for the animals, had I known this earlier I wouldnt have come to support such a place. The zoo is quite massive and if you do for some reason decide to go, renting a golf cart for 350baht is recommended. I did the whole zoo on foot and it was regretfully tiring.

Went there for 2023 countdown and it was the best feeling we all have enjoyed. Fireworks and stage was not the grand set up. It was meant to have a small cozy feeling for everyone. People are selling the paper lanterns, just keep a look out and buy when you can. Seems like it is not supported by the local authorities. The old structure and the light display along with the fireworks completed our new year. Please visit this place when you are in Chiang Mai.

My memories of this place is impress and efficient. I spent only 30mins there but got to enjoy the historical feels of the site and left with 100+ photos no less! There’s local there ready to help you taking your photos and slow-no shots. They didn’t put a price to their service so it is up to you but I truly appreciate the help coz I was alone on my solo trip, so they are part of my good memories while I’m there. 😊

Great reminder of the history of Chiang Mai and the Lanna Kingdom. What this must have looked like when it was first completed would have been a great sight. Plenty of people like to pose for a photo here so getting a memory here without others in the picture is quite difficult.

The park is a delightful place, especially during the day when friendly pigeons are around. They love to be petted and photographed with. The kids had a blast playing with the baby pigeons in the evening. At night, the park transforms into a magical music stage, where young musicians can showcase their talents and street vendors can sell their wares. And let's not forget the yummy street food that's available too! It's a great spot for a fun-filled day out with family and friends.

Ancient wall, moat and numerous "gates" are historical landmarks surrounding The Old City. Cool to see and experience a bit of centuries old structures to protect The Old City from Burmese invaders.

This place is way overhyped and very touristy. The local line up to takes pictures with pigeon flying with the bricks wall on the back drop. Even if you look around, small merchandise will come up and asked if you would like to take pictures and will charge you for their service. It's a nice photogenic place but the risk of being that close with wild pigeon is not my cup of tea

It was cool to see, after having just read about it in one of Chiang Mai’s museums, but it was pretty crowded as the Sunday walking markets were being held on the other side of the entrance. I wouldn’t make a big deal out of seeing it but it is cool to see and walk through.

The gate is a remnant of ancient Chiang Mai, and it is the most popular gathering and entertainment spot in the city. It is surrounded by a series of old city walls, creating a square-like space where you can take photos, admire the scenery, and play with friendly pigeons.

It was lovely spending 5 nights in Chaing Mai, we stayed within the city walls, so it easy to see the remaining of the old wall, and most of the beautiful Temples. The Sunday Market was amazing and a must do while you are there.

During my visit to Chiang Mai, I couldn't miss the iconic Tha Phae Gate. Purposely go at 7am to get the sunrise view. It’s a perfect backdrop for capturing the architectural. In the warm morning sun, a large group of sparrows surrounded Tha Phae Gate. They hopped excitedly on the ground near the entrance, seemingly unconcerned by the passing tourists.

Interesting piece of history, worth a look, but don't expect much. We visited during Songkran and they had a stage set up with performances and an area to hang out.

This is the most photogenic of the food gates into old Chiang Mai for those that want that Instagrammable selfie. There's a small park built around it where you can hang out and people watch. There's also a few pigeon handlers that have groomed a group of pigeons to fly in the background of your photo for a price. They can help you create a beautiful photo or video. It's Best to visit early in the morning. There's less people and you'll get the best sunrise lighting.

Must see at Chiang Mai. Weekend nights will have night market with many craft made by local. On morning you can buy some food for birds from some guys around Tha Phae Gate. But they will disappear if have some police around, so should be pass the gate and come inside. Left side have 1 Seven-11, buy a snack and you will have many bird around you

Tha Phae Gate is a great place to experience the history and culture of Chiang Mai. An ideal place to visit when you come to Chiang Mai. Here you can take beautiful pictures, however I don't like the way people treat the pigeons to get beautiful pictures with them. I think this is the most beautiful and complete gate among the four gates in the ancient city of Chiang Mai

I love that place, it’s so historical. Thanks to the street photographers at this place, I and my friends have many great pictures. We honestly love Chiangmai more than Bangkok. And the fee for a shoot is 100 bath but you can bargain with them

Always fun to stroll through the Tha Phae gate. There are often festivals or activities here, including formal and informal live music. You can always find food stands and souvenirs. There are many shops on either side of the gate.

Visiting Chiang Mai and not capturing a moment at this iconic tourist spot is almost like you never went. It's incredibly popular, especially for the experience of having birds fluttering all around you. My time spent there was not only fun but made even better by the helpfulness of the Thai locals, who were more than willing to assist in taking those perfect Instagram-worthy shots. All it took was purchasing some food to feed the birds, and the locals were eager to help us capture those memorable moments.

Knew that there is a Sunday Night Bazaar just right inside the Tha Phae Gate, so we choose to visit on Sunday. The gate itself was very crowded, many people wanted to take videos with pigeons, so do we! 😂 After that we straight away entered the night bazaar. The night bazaar is so big! There are a lot of different stalls all along, food, drinks, handcrafted Items, clothes, etc. All of us were very tired after the walk and we had a foot massage somewhere near the gate.

This section of the old walls for Chiang Mai is possibly the most famous part of town. Lots of Chinese tourists will come dressed in traditional Thai costumes and pay vendors to take photos and videos of them walking through a flight of pigeons. What actually happens is you pay the vendor 100 baht. He coaxes the pigeons into pace with bird feed while you get ready for the shoot. As you walk into the pigeons, a shoe or empty water bottle is thrown into the midst of the feeding pigeons, frightening them into flight. Quite cruel. Imagine someone suddenly throwing shoes at you will you are eating your lunch…. Just take your simple photos of the wall. Walk into the pigeons (see video). They are hardly frightened of you walking into their midst.

An intriguing and surprising place, full of a mix of people, from locals, students, tourists and families. Easily accessible by all roads of this walled city, it was great to see the preservation of Chiang Mai's Walled City looking quite splendid in the beautiful sunshine. Definitely worth a visit as there are lots of markets, eateries and public spaces to explore within Tha Phae Gate area.

The wall with old colour but impressing and beautiful. It is sunny but not to be shine, there are a lot of big trees so the weather becomes cool. Also have a lot of pigeons. The view is beautiful and peace.

Tourist spot with many pigeons. The wall and the gate are nice, but I think they should plant some flowers around to make it a bit nicer. Still, this place is popular with everyone, and there are some vendors at night.

A very nice temple to visit. There is a side road to get to the mountaintop where the temple is. Of course, one can choose to climb the few hundred steps. Beautiful temple. The buddha next to the pagoda is famous for those hoping to get lucky with the lottery. You won't miss it. There are machines to give lucky number for 20 Bart as well. The great view from the temple provides for nice photo opp and lots more to see as well.

The view was super nice, we could see almost the whole Chiang Mai from there. We paid 380baht (10€) for a taxi from Chiang Mai to get us there, wait for us 45min till we wonder around and take us back.

Not overly interesting temple with 2 giant Buddha statues but obviously very popular with local people as it was really busy when I was there. The temple lies on a hill at the western edge of the town and has nice views of Chiang Mai, although the view is more spectacular on Doi Suthep. No entrance fees even for foreigners. If you go there make sure you have a transport back into town.

This is one of the most popular Buddhist sacred place in Chiang Mai for Thai to make a merit and pray for a good luck and good fortune for their work, life, love and job. There is a car parking available near to the temple just a short walk. Behind the temple there is a good view point for the scenery of Chiang Mai city.

The Wat Phra That Doi Kham is an attractive not much visited temple known for its 17 meters high Buddha image. The temple that was built towards the end of the 7th century sits on top of a forested hill just outside of Chiang Mai. The name of the Wat means golden mountain temple.

High up in the mountain in Chiang Mai this is a trip worth taking. One of Thailand’s most beautiful temples with stunning views over the city. It can get crowded so arrive as early as you can. Take a baht bus or hire a motorcycle to get up here. There is a street food market at the bottom of the steps leading to the temple with great variety in offer at reasonable cost. Aim to spend a good half day here to soak in the atmosphere and explore the temple.

Very nice temple up the hill over looking Chiang Mai. Car park at the top. Plenty of figures to see & a lovely temple. Some small shops selling souvenirs, snacks & drinks. Toilets on site. We stayed about 1hr to 1.30hr and felt we had seen it all & offered our donations.

Wat Phra That Kham. Another one with similar name called Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Make sure you go to correct direction. They are 3-4 miles apart. I come for visit, it’s my first time to be here. Such a beautiful place. Party I think this is like the one in Malaysia 🇲🇾, but not that similar. In the gate, you may find a statue in the pond where people throw the coins in it for blessing (the picture is not included here xixi). This place is quite popular locally and internationally. You may find some local hawkers and some lottery 🎫 sellers here. I assume the toilet here is free. One big thing you have to consider to visit here is the weather. If you come with car it is good. Unlike bike, you need to prepare things like rain coat, slippery-proof shoe in case the surface there quite wet. That’s it! If you find this review helpful, kindly follow my page for more. Nice well maintained temple. Also a few stalls on the way to the temple with souvenirs, food and drinks. If you are not a Buddhist you can sightsee the temple in about 1 hour.

Be careful when visiting this temple. The roads are steep up the hill. But once up there, it's really very nice! When you visit it, do not miss the chance of taking pictures on the staircase. It overlooks a lot of the mountains and village below.

The place is crowded but absolutely worth it. The atmosphere is so beautiful and the jasmine flowers and the incense donate to the place a mysterious vibe. The mountain view and the city below is so close but still you get the peaceful feeling as such you are surrounded by the clouds.

I visited this big Buddha temple on a weekend evening. It was fairly crowded but not too crowded. Pros 1. The big Buddha statue is must visit in Chiang Mai. 2. The temple has several status and photo opportunities. 3. It is a view point for Chiang Mai city. We can observe the whole city from here depending upon the weather. 4. The sarangs (the leg covering drape) are available for free. Cons 1. It is a bit far from the city centre. 2. The road might be tricky for some car drivers. Mostly it is a 2 lane mountain road through a dense forest.

Definitely worth the short journey from Chiang Mai center, as the winding road into the hills offers a pleasant ride and a cooler temperature than the city. There is little shade when you reach this destination though. This old temple has an interesting history and associated legends. There is plenty to see with shrines not just to Buddha but to Hindu deities as well. It is a very popular destination for local tourists so don't expect to be able to get photos without people in them. The viewpoint is a nice area though if you are not asian you will have to pay 50 baht.

Great temple. Get a grab to go directly and just call a grab again to go back. They are easy to find don't worry.

This wat (temple) was featured in a Netflix movie titled “Worship” about various practices in Thailand. The ride to the top of the hill is beautiful. There are plenty of ways to make merit here, and for reflection and meditation. They also have amulets!

visited on 9/12/2024.... The temple is on top of a hill...... Driving along the hill is still manageable.... Parking is quite limited..... View is beautiful and there are lots of people doing merits..... Remember to cover knees when you enter the temple....

Wat Phra That Kham was only a 10 minute grab ride for me from where I’m staying but from the city centre it’s at least 20-25 minutes. Definitely worth visiting such breathtaking experience of temples, Buddha statues, view point of Chiang Mai and places to eat. Free entry but make sure you donate to support the local. I went during the weekday and the crowds weren’t as busy as a weekend. Easily spend an hour or two hours to fully explore the place. You can also hike to the viewpoint but I didn’t get the opportunity to do that maybe next time when I visit again.

Recommended by my friend to visit this temple. She had her prayers answered so she was back to payback the deed. Apparently there is a specific way to pray in this temple for you to fulfil your prayers. However they are written in Thai, get someone to translate for you or you can try google translating the photo of the poster above the prayer area

Good selection of touristy goods and food stalls. Lots of different options of things to eat, there small food stalls dotted all the way down the road with a few concentrated areas of larger food stalls. I recommend getting there early from 5pm and start at the south end walking up towards the old city. At that time when its not yet packed, things are fresher and you can see it in a couple of hours. From 7pm it starts to get very busy.

Cannot recommend highly enough, really nice stalls everywhere and lots of places to eat. Family friendly and something for everyone! 100% going back next time I'm in Chiang Mai

This market pops on Saturdays, with people from all backgrounds eating and shopping. The food selection is huge with so many delicious options. The arts and crafts are unique, and mostly good quality, compared to a lot of other markets we’ve visited in the world. The clothes for sale are also mostly very good, so it’s a great place to shop. Oh, and everything is inexpensive. So when considering bargaining, do realize what is little change to you might really help out the vendors. It does get crowded in the later hours, making it difficult to walk at some points, but it’s manageable. Overall, excellent night market in Chiang Mai, and an absolute must when visiting!

If you have to choose for some reason between the Sunday Market and the Saturday Market, I'd absolutely suggest the Saturday market. It is extremely well organized. There's a general straight path you can take from one end to another with various food courts along the way. Smoking and drinking is not allowed, so the atmosphere is nice. There are a lot of unique stalls here with different items. For sure you'll see a few repeats here and there but mostly it's occupied by sellers selling unique items. There are a lot of food stalls as well so you can try various different foods. Overall a great experience.

Night market just outside the old city walls that is approximately 1km walk in length. We walked the entire street which took a while but there were just so many things to look at! Food vendors, crafts, clothing etc. My favorites were the roti stands (durian and Nutella! Surprisingly great combo!) and looking at homemade crafts.

Wow now this is the night market I have been looking for all trip. Amazing atmosphere, Unique stuff made here and not sad China stuff. Even live music at the food place. Happy I made it here on Sat night

Very nice night market. All you want for shopping, eating and slow life. Not too busy and spacious walking path - excellent to fill one evening on low speed and enjoyment. And last but not least, the sellers are not aggressively pushing their merchandise and instead genuinely friendly. Great for families too

I went to both Saturday and Sunday night market to give a fair review. Saturday market is organized, comfortable for a stroll in the market to look for great food or sourveniors to buy. The size might be smaller than Sunday market but you will find many items to buy here at an affordable price. This market is less packed than Sunday and comes with many unique stalls as well. After been to both markets, if you only choose to come to 1 of the market, this is the one to go.

A must visit in Chiang Mai. Multiple food stalls selling amazing food. Tables and chairs in the middle of the market. A real buzz and great atmosphere. Try as many foods as you can! Be sure to check whether the market is on before you go so you don’t end up disappointed.

Arrived on Sat evening and not sure why, there was quite a lot of insect around and it was attracted to the light source by the vendors. There are three food bazaar that house a number of food stalls. My family had a decent meal over here followed by a slow scroll down the road where both sides of the road, vendors selling their goods. There is a big group of tutu drivers waiting for your return trip. I choose Grab as their price is transparent and I know exactly how much to pay. Tutu gives me the feeling that they are shady. Just opp where the canal is also houses quite a number of cooked food stalls and it looks decent for dinner meals.

This Saturday night market was the highlight of my Chiang Mai trip - a big variety of street food and I ate so much! There was also plenty of handicraft stores with handmade crochet pieces and I got one beautiful crochet bag to bring home!! Love the vibes even though it was quite crowded. 👍

I guest should be the longest night Street market in Chiang Mai. If you are looking for affordable souvenirs and gifts, this is the place. Also there is 3 area for food hunting.

It was a fun experience of merchandise sellers and street food. It's a little out of Old Town and not a super long market like the Sunday market, so it's not too tiring. this market had more A la carte street food which was nice since you could try more items before getting full.

Overall the market is amazing but the highlight was a grilled pork ribs stall. We waited in line for 1 hr or more because of the long lineup but it was 100% worth it. The stall only gives two options, large or small. They give it to you in a styrofoam container on a banana leaf and you can eat right away or take away. It comes with a side sauce as well but the ribs are so flavourful I didn’t even need the sauce. It was freshly cooked, you can see how they do it, and the taste is amazing. Highly recommended if you come to this market.

Big zoo with a great variety of animals. Don't recommend the tiger show if you're sensible or somehow more connected with animals since it's quite sad to see this majestic animals being handled in that manner. Besides that it was a very nice experience and the zoo was quite empty that time of the year, but made me consider stop going to zoos (only reason I go is because of my 3 yo daughter).

The Night Safari worked out well for us as we were travelling with a 1 year old. Our aim was to get to the zoo at 2.30pm. Go on the tram at 3pm. Watch Tiger show at 3.30pm and another tram ride at 4pm. It worked out so well for us. The weather was cool and made it even more enjoyable. Animals like the giraffes came close to the tram for food and interaction. It was an experience up close. Animals were happy chilling. We ended the zoo with the petting and feeding of the donkeys, baby sheep at 5pm and went off to have our dinner back in the city. Overall super fun and not tiring for both adults and baby. Highly recommended with young children.

Animal exploitation and terrible experience I was very disappointed with my visit to the Chiang Mai Night Safari. The animals are clearly exploited, with tiny enclosures and no enrichment. It felt like a 1990s circus. The shows are also very noisy, with loudspeakers blaring commentary (which reached 90db on my Apple Watch) that ruins the experience. I would strongly advise against visiting this place. We thought we were going to a wildlife reserve, but it was a huge disappointment. Only positive point: The park is clean and well-maintained. Here are some additional details about my experience: The animals were clearly stressed and agitated. The enclosures were too small for the animals to move around freely. The shows were very loud and disruptive. The commentary was in Chinese, which I didn't understand. I felt sorry for the animals and couldn't enjoy my visit. I would not recommend this place to anyone who cares about animal welfare.

The Jaguar trail is amazing! The park was very impressive. The animals I saw were in good health! The place is clean and the staff is so friendly! I will definitely be doing the night safari soon. Highly recommend! I’m a foreigner and it is worth the price.

Great time! Amazing shows and lovely staff. There was one lady that describing the animals on the second tram. She was talking in a very inappropriate seductive voice. That was quite disturbing. Me and my husband were very uncomfortable to the point we could only laugh about the situation. Except that unfortunate experience, everything else was pretty wonderful. But please... someone tell the lady talking and describing the animals to talk appropriately... very uncomfortable ride

I will say this for sure... definitely cool and worth it(ish). It is way better than the Chiang Mai Zoo & Aquarium. The animals sometimes get close. Their are programs and shows that will fill your entire evening. Definitely should go right away at 5:30 or 6p if you want to see everything. You will be HUNGRY by the end if you don't eat before.

I went after four o'clock. There were not many animals during the safe zone, and most of them were sleeping and not very active. A considerable part of the sightseeing animals in herbivorous areas and carnivorous areas overlap. Many cats walk back and forth in the exhibition room, which is one of the rigid behaviors of animals because of the small space or lack of rich facilities. I don't know why I can't see many animals with their faces only on their backs when I go sightseeing. There are also three staff playing with a baby white tiger in the tiger area, but at the same time they are training it to get down. I don't know whether to prepare for the performance. uIn a word, I came here with the expectation of the book, but I was disappointed.

We did the night safari tram ride and it was a lot of fun! The guides were funny and informative and so entertaining! There were lots of animals and the giraffes came up pretty close which was cool.

We prebooked for a night safari. The ride was 30 mins to the place . When we entered we went straight to the herbivore safari and then to the night prowl . Both a 40-45 min ride . We had taken our 4 year old and everyone enjoyed the experience. We had a giraffe who was kind enough to give a very very close encounter to the tram . We had an English speaking guide . We enjoyed all the shows too - the tiger , lion and the night predator.

The night safari is pretty cool. If you go there, make sure you buy the ticket for the two trams. These are basically the best adventure, especially for the kids. We stayed there for around 4 hours, and the kids were totally happy.

Our trip here was pretty cool, and we even got to see a girafe and zebra up close. I'd recommend to take the safari while the light is still up and then go for the other activities. Overall it was a nice experience, and I believe it's a great place to bring your children too.

Animal show (tiger+lion) was fantastic. The little creatures one was amazing too. Not giving full score as the tram bringing visitors into the zoo left us very little time to spend with the animals.

An unforgettable experience for our group. The best part was the ride around the zoo where we had a fun animal encounter with the giraffes and some deers where we handfed them with vegetables and fruits provided by the staff. It was a well-guided tour, the staff assigned to us was very knowledgeable and friendly. It would have been more exciting if we went there at dusk until early evening. But due to our hectic schedule, we were there when the sun was still up. We had so much fun, nonetheless.

DO NOT GO IF YOU LOVE ANIMALS We showed up stupidly thinking it was more of a safari than a zoo. The entrance is very grand with a water show also, however all animal cages were totally dried up with turtles trying to swim in puddles, and none of the animals looked happy in their tiny miserable cages. We sat for the tiger show and left within five minutes- no animal should be made to perform to a crowd with blaring music and a ‘trainer’. I looked at reviews and peoples videos after and saw that the night predator show is another circus performance from a variety of animals including lions zebras giraffes. The tigers looked terrified of their trainer after performing each trick and cowered with their ears back. I’m not sure how often they’re made to perform but we went on a weekday so I imagine it’s the majority of the week. You cannot train animals to do this without punishment- please remember this and do not support a zoo like this. Animals are not performers, and even after the show they have to return back to their cages, mostly living alone. I would never ever recommend this , the tiger show was difficult to watch even for five minutes. The hotel and entrance part of the building is so huge whereas the back of the lake where the animals are looks like a completely different place- you can see where they are spending their money and they clearly don’t care about the animals they enclose. There were wires and hosepipes laying around, ripped tarpaulin over empty cages, all of the mini rivers and ponds were dried up, almost everything needed repairing. Very sad to have not done my research beforehand and supported a place like this- lesson learnt

Worth the price for Thais and foreigners with work-permit. 50% discount for local adults above 60 years old. The shows were OK. Very rundown and some areas were closed for renovation. Animals seem quite well-fed. We enjoyed cool air at night during tram ride. Too bad feeding animals (ex. Giraffe and zebras are not allowed) otherwise, it could have been more fun.

Amazing place to visit with kids as well as single....had a great experience of predators over here. Each and every staff is there to help. Because of their guidance could see all the shows and the tram ride. Keep it up guys. Should visit the place. They have day as well as night Safari.

We had a great time with our kids (3 and 5 yrs old). Went for the night safari, came to the zoo at around 6:30pm, went straight to the Night animals show, than tiger show and at the end took the 8:30 safari ride. We saw all the animals, our son was lucky to pet a giraffe. Animals look healthy and their enclosures are spacious and the whole place just has a ‘feels good vibe’. The staff is friendly and helpful. Price seems fair. You can get really good snack around (we had buns filled with various treats), the whole place is clean, well kept, nice atmosphere… Clean toilets near by each of the strategic sites places. Overall I can only recommend. We will try to come again during the day as there is more to see then. TIP: if you are getting there by Bolt (or similar way of transportation) for the night safari, make sure to book a ride back in advance. There are no cars available in the evening. We were lucky our driver told us and picked us up at 9:30 as agreed. I looked and Bolt put of curiosity and really, no availability at all.

This was a great experience. The place is well kept. Entertainment is really good and the habitats are also well kept. The animals look healthy and active. There’s a paid ryde you can take but you can also walk. Bring comfortable shoes. There’s a dancing show around 6:10pm better get there fast the sits fill up quickly. Overall ok.

do not recommend. 1 star is a star too much. animal abuses are blatantly seen during shows. i heard whipping after each demonstration when the animals refused to stay on stage, along with underfed animals; the clearest to me was the lion during their night show. its ribs were protruding. the zoo was very clearly exploiting the animals and forced them into hunger to perform. they were also very much afraid of their keepers. furthermore, animals are kept alone and show obvious signs of stress and boredom, understandably so considering the size of their enclosure. it truly baffles me how such a place is a government project. please do not support an organization that normalizes abuse. expensive and unethical.

If going with 6-9 year old kids, they will enjoy it. But for adults is kind of boring, the feeding animals while on the tram is not fun at all as you are basically throwing food on the floor………the shows are so so but educational as we just learned jaguars can really dive under the water to get their food, tigers can jump really high in one bounce etc…….

The visit felt like a machine gun firing of events with little break between the shots. For the kids it was amazing and I also felt quite entertained. The safari consists of two different tram rides that are quite nice. Then there are the tiger show and the night predator show. Especially the tiger show is a borderline case of what one can watch when considering ethics and animal healthcare. Wouldn’t come again for that exact reason. However, the kids were well entertained and the evening closed with a fountain show that was quite a friendly highlight. Pricey and no healthy food options available.

I don’t really like going to the zoos (Especially in Thailand). But the Chiang Mai Night Safari really exceeded my expectations and I left the place with satisfaction. The place is very well organised. The two tram tours are well guided by the safari guides. The safari guides are very knowledgeable. I went on the tram at night and still could see the animals easily with the tram spotlights. There are 2 animal shows to see. Both were equally entertaining. There is a musical fountain show which should not be missed. Best to see it at night with the lightings. There is a mini dance show which was entertaining too. What I really appreciate is how they have put some thought to spread out the timings of the shows/trams. The timing of the shows/trams are spread out just nice so that you can have enough time to walk over for the next activity. I spent 4.5 hours there and overall I really enjoyed my unplanned trip there.

Very beautiful tourist place. Full of greenery and trees. Well organized place and can be one of the best destinations in Chiang Mai. All of the shows was nice and reasonable, not to short and not too long. Need to spend around 4 hours if you need to walk around the lake.

Perfect for family with kids. Small entrance fee if you are Thai. Shows were great, staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive. They should have a better way to manage the parking since it's like 10 mins+ walk in the dark from P3,4

Worth the trip out of Chiang Mai to visit this Temple Complex. It's a nice change from the city Temples. We came here on our scooter - an easy ride. There's quite a lot to see. The tunnels are particularly interesting. Wear good footwear - the ground can be quite slippery in places. We only had an hour to look around so weren't able to see it all. Give yourself a couple of hours.

Unique older temple in outskirts of Chiangmai with tunnels. There are bats that live in the tunnels that you can see when you walk through. There is also a nice ancient pagoda to admire, as well as a lake full of catfish and other fish and turtles that you can feed. People also feed the pigeons. You can buy fish and bird food near there.

Was introduced by friendly locals to visit this old temple which have much stories and teachings. It’s a beautiful, magical temple to go to with surprising little tunnels and a huge pagoda to admire, relax beside and the whole place feels surreal, like in a set of an Indiana Jones adventure minus the action. Exploring the temple makes us feel so calm, mesmerised and walked up the spiritual self in us. There are pigeons and fishes to feed where you can purchase feeds at just 10bath. There are so many inspirational & live quotes to discover and reflect. Zen place, highly recommended, must go!

Love this temple, lots of wisdom sign that remind your thoughts and how to quality spend life in single day. Peaceful and easy to go, close to city you can take grab car and go there, very convenience. We have been there on weekdays, not too much visitors. Mindfulness, silence and good for your soul.

One of the most beautiful temples I’ve visited. The energy is super strong, very well reserved and the tunnels are really magical. Monks are around as they live there which makes it so special. A meditation centre is there too which is definitely on my list for the next visit. Definitely must see.

Very beautiful old temple area. When we went there was a modern art exhibition in the tunnel. They have a pond where you can feed fish as well (and a big python swimming in it). Quite exciting! :-) it's just a short walk to the animal sanctuary and even older temple ruins of you fancy.

A beautiful temple with a small cave or a large tunnel that you can meditate in. It also has a museum of relics and inspired art. I think you can also come here if you want to be a monk. This place is huge to walk around.

Love the place, such an amazing and historic temple. It was pretty crowded however which took away from the atmosphere a little. I loved the Buddhist quotes on the trees everywhere, great trip overall

20 bahts for the entry and it’s definitely with the value. There are quite a few facilities to walk pass. There’s food giving hall, monks resting places and some small stalls. The building is very old but very nice to walk around. The very tall building is able to walk one round, maybe can make a wish? Heard there was river behind, but didn’t manage to go.

A quiet and relaxing place to get lost in. The grounds are easy to walk, there is an area to feed pigeons and fish, very cool tunnels and shrines to explore. It's worth a visit.

The temple and its surroundings create a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. At the time of the visit (February 2024), there were only a few visitors. You pay 20 Baht to enter the tunnels. If you are a fan of feeding pigeons or fish and want to feel like you are in the movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, you can buy a package for 10 Baht.

Its a big Temple where many local visit. Admission free to the temple. Its 20baht to enter the tunnel to see the Buddha status. Place was alittle run down when we visit. There a lake /pond area where you can purchase some bread/pallets to feed the Cat fishes. There were plenty of pigeons, its might be intimating for some. Honestly after visiting other WAT in Chiang Mai, this isn't a really worth visiting temple. Its abit too tourists and crowded with tour buses.

This is so big big temple with 35 places to go around but actually there are 5 places is private so you can not come in. No need to buy ticket but you just need to pay 20bth to go inside the tunnel. This is so amazing temple.

Beautiful Temple surrouding with tall trees. The temple itself is very modest and once stepped in you can sense the serenity throughout the temple ground. The interesting point of attraction is the short tunnel underneath pagoda.

Very peaceful and pretty place to visit. The Buddha's are amazing. Our guide was very helpful in e planning the meaning of the different positions of the Buddha's.

Wat Umong was very kool. The temple grounds were beautiful. We saw chickens, squirrels, bats, and two howling beagles. Inside the tunnels was neat. Went there with Trip Guru and our wonderful guide “Banana”. I would love to go back and explore the whole temple complex

Came here to kill some time before a flight. Massive maze of indoor and outdoor market stalls. If you can't find it here, then it probably doesn't exist. Some hot and cold food vendors too. Worth a look, we were the only tourists in the place.

This is the place to go for souvenirs! There's are so many shops! There are shopping stalls on the street and more inside the buildings! Try not to get lost in the maze of memorabilia. They have price tag that make we think it is fix price but still you can still negotiate for 10-40% off if u want

Amazing local market that has almost everything you need from fresh produce to preserved food. Enjoy walk around the market, especially the first floor where you can buy snacks and local products. The sellers are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is airy and not to crowded.

This is the place to go for souvenirs! There's are so many shops! There are shopping stalls on the street and more inside the buildings! Try not to get lost in the maze of memorabilia!

4 stars only because I cannot find stationary 😃 But it's nice. Lots of stuff to see. No pushy vendors. And there's a nice canteen area at the basement. You can buy sausage and sticky rice and eat there. And the sausage here is special. Has more herbs than other places. 😃 We also ate vermicelli. Which is super nice. It's sourish and spicy.

Pretty old town and messy establishment with many cheap stuff that are less enticing to buy. However, if you hunt hard at all corners, you may discover some suitable bargains and delicious local delicacies. Many shops have closed and older parts of the market are getting demolished, hopefully with plans to rebuild into a new building as part of the market. Side street stalls do pop out at night living more variety and flavours of cheap goods, but I still find these goods to be mainly useless stuff ;) other than souvenirs and F&B. Still a nice experience to venture for all!

Great place to check-out local snacks and delicacies. Old school indoor market. Although it's a bit cramped, the aisles are clean and orderly. Definitely recommended to experience local culture and pick up some souvenirs along the way.

Well laid out Market, 3 levels of pure magic. Beautiful fabrics, premade clothes for everyone in the family. A great variety of spices, herbs and other delicious goodies. Love this place!!

Truly and highly recommend stall no. 14 if you wish to buy dried fruits. There are free samples to try and this friendly lady boss offers a cheapest price we ever searched.

My family came to Chiang Mai and visited Warorot Market together to buy souvenirs. The price is written on the item. It's a fixed-price system, and if you buy a lot, the price is reduced a little. It was hot, but it was cleaner than I thought and parking was good.

Warorot Market, known locally as Kad Luang ("Grand Market"), is considered the largest and best-known market in the northern region of Thailand. It is a market for gourmets, bargain hunters and (of course) tourists. The bustling market has a lot of cheap clothing, knickknacks, household products and of course a lot of food on offer. Those looking for Northern Thai specialties such as Sai ua (northern Thai sausage), Moo yo (traditional Vietnamese pork sausage), Nam phrik num (northern Thai green pepper chili paste) should go to the Warorot Market.

Great bargains to be had in this large sprawling historic market. Lots of entrances and exits, bit of a maze yet part of the charm. If you arrive by scooter then pin its parked location onto Google maps! Floors of gifts, clothing, food and everything in between. Includes a wet market with buckets of live seafood and frogs yet easy to avoid this section. We worth the walk around

A very interesting local market in Chiang mai. So many vendors selling different items, including but not limited to food, flowers, clothes, shoes and bags, fabrics, desserts etc. Very difficult to find parking if you go by a car. Roads are crowded nearby.

Very well designed market with high roof, so the place is not hot even without air conditioning. A wide selection of goods and products on sale here at reasonable prices.

Beautiful temple with a peaceful feel throughout. One of the nicest of them all and should be on your list to see. You need to dress appropriately, however if not you van hire a cloth for only 10 baht. Easy to get to by bike also

this is a very simple yet very sacred temple. I went inside the temple and it was so solemn and you can really feel the calmness and peace when you're inside. It is worth a visit also and it's easy to find. because it's just in the middle of Chiang Mai.

Wat Chiang Man is an absolutely beautiful Buddhist temple located in the old city of Chiang Mai. Upon arrival, I was immediately charmed by the peaceful and serene atmosphere that emanated from the place. The temple is extremely well maintained, and the cleanliness is impeccable. A perfect place for families I visited Wat Chiang Man with my children, and they were immediately fascinated by the Buddha statues and the many colorful decorations. The temple is quite small, which makes it easy to explore with young children. In addition, there is a shady green space where they can run and play. Excellent value for money Admission to the temple is free, which is a considerable asset. It is possible to make offerings to the monks, but this is not obligatory. An architectural gem The architecture of Wat Chiang Man is truly unique. The buildings are decorated with intricate sculptures and colorful murals. The Chedi, which is the central monument of the temple, is particularly impressive. In summary I highly recommend Wat Chiang Man to all visitors to Chiang Mai. It is an ideal place to relax, recharge your batteries and admire the beauty of Thai art and culture. Beautiful and peaceful place to visit. We have sit down on a bench here and enjoyed some quiet time in the middle of noisy town centre. All we could hear was singing of birds. Also loved the little elephant bushes growing around. <3 Recommended for visit, definitely worth the while.

Underrated and less known temple that is actually quite good. If you get the chance to go when it is not too hot consider just sitting there and chilling.

The first temple in Chiang Mai. It was built next to the king's residents when they built the new capital of Lanna. Calm and peaceful. Old style murals tell the story of the wat inside the main building. One of the major temples in Chiang Mai to visit.

As the first temple in ancient Chiang Mai, Wat Chiang Man has many artifacts and beautiful statues around the grounds. The crystal Buddhas are unique for any other temples I’ve seen. Not an especially large temple site but definitely worth the visit.

Beautiful temple with lots to see. Free to enter and look around. Love the combination of shiny ornamental features and carved stone. Benches to sit on and contemplate and you can go inside several of the buildings (dressed appropriately). There's also toilets here and some shaded areas.

I love that the temples in Chiang Mai are open for people to visit on a daily basis. This one is no exception. The temple is a stunning red color inside, and the grounds have a beautiful and grand elephant shrine.

Really nice temple and much less crowded than some of the others in Chiang Mai

The most unusual feature of this Temple is the large array of white shrines (or relinquaries) all within one large rectangular plot and containing relics of the Nine ruling Princes of Chiang Mai. Architecture here arises from Theravada Buddhism. The Assembly Hall is huge with the structure supported by beautifully decorated pillars, gold embossed design with blue glass inlays.

a nice older temple just on the outskirts of the main square. Dating back around six hundred years it is quite a site although there have been numerous renovations over the years. It was unfortunately under part construction whilst we were visiting as there was scaffolding up but the majority was clear and easy to explore. Only 20baht to view the interior temple room which was decorated very nicely. Several monks roam the grounds and seem friendly and willing to have a brief chat. Worth a visit even though partially under construction. Slightly smaller grounds than I thought it would be though.

The temple is beautifully decorated for the new year,Songkrang. There were minimal water fights this year but the temples were filled with people celebrating. Great time to be in Chiang Mai.

Beautiful temple and ground of the holy relics. Seeing and believing. Can take many awesome pictures and was blessed with the beautiful sky and wonderful backdrop.

Big temple, worth a visit if you are anywhere near. According to a local legend, a 'duplicate' of a Buddha relic is kept here while the other relic was placed on the back of a white elephant which then climbed up Doi Suthep, the location which eventually became Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep.

A simple temple to visit near the heart of the city. It has very beautiful layouts and the main building has a big Buddha sitting in the Center. Minor renovations or maintenance work going on, but it doesn’t affect the view. Parking inside the temple.

Stunning complex in the heart of Chiang Mai. The main hall is huge and nicely decorated. Next to it there is a stupa and a mausoleum with the ashes of several kings who lived in the city. Recommended

Beautiful area! Definitely a place to visit and spent 1 or 2 hours. The roads towards it is breathtaking! You can park at the bottom and walk up or park at the top (limited space to park). Many shops for food and souvenirs.

I was able to explore freely. Took photos and walk around without worrying about too many people that day. I'm still amazed how much they can maintain their temples and everything in it at such a high standard.

This temple is probably the most beautiful one of Chiang Mai! It’s incredible how much effort they put into the construction of the temple. The outside is just as beautiful as the inside. We were lucky to see monks and other people doing rehearsals for new years celebrations. Loved this temple!

Beautiful temple. Come to pray or just enjoy the peaceful scenery. Please be respectful. You must take off your shoes before coming in and try to keep quiet. It's only 20 baht (less than $1USD) to get in, but it's tradition to donate a bit more in the boxes if you can. You can also hit the gong or write your name in the sacred scroll for good fortune.

This temple complex has an array of white stupas. It might be an interesting photo opportunity. I witnessed a couple's marriage photo shoot during the evening. Pros 1. Free parking 2. The white temple, all in white, so simple and beautiful.. Came here in the afternoon and of course it is so hot at that time.. Not many people, because maybe who wants to go in here in the afternoon because it is so hot!! The temple was located in the heart of city.. So it is easy to access.. You can simply walking in here and stop by in the cafe near the temple..

Wat Suan Dok also known as Wat Buppharam is a Buddhist temple (Wat) in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. It is a Royal Temple of the Third Class located in Suthep Road. It is a Beautiful white temple with breathtaking Architecture! The only issue is that there it is very hot in summers. The photos were taken at 1 pm. Some parts of the temple are still under construction and we did not have to pay any entry fee. Modest clothing required to enter the temple.

Very impressive little temple that sits on the outskirts of the Old Town. Due to its proximity it is not busy with tourists at all. The building itself is a masterpiece in metalwork. I believe its clad in silver, aluminum and nickel which gives the temple its striking appearance. The fine designs on almost every inch of the temple display the talents of the local craftsmen who helped shape it. One of the more brilliant temples I've seen in Thailand. Oh and its 50 baht entry.

Astonishing masterpiece ! A gem hidden in Chiang Mai, it’s been 4 years that I live here but I discovered this temple only a few days ago ! The work which has been done on that temple is amazing, the attention to every detail makes it even more beautiful 😍

I was fascinated by this small silver temple and its detailed craftsmanship. Although it is outside the walls of the old city, it is worth the walk. Unfortunately, women can not step inside the temple but the exterior is more impressive anyways.

WORTH EVERY PENNY (baht) Only 50 Baht for foreign tourists but to enter and see the majestic craftsmanship. This is not an ordinary temple you would see everyday. Spectacular 👍🏻 The temple grounds also has a silversmithing workshop behind for apprenticeship where you can see people learning the art of silversmithing and you can purchase some of them back. If you’re thinking “nah just another temple” let me tell you, this is not “just another temple”, this is “THE temple” 👍🏻

This place used to sell only silver until it turns into a temple. As such one of the main attraction is a temple made of silver only. Interesting though.

It is a beautiful small temple made of silver. There is a free street parking. The ticket price is 50 THB. Please note that women are not allowed inside the main building made of silver. Though they might enter the complex.
