The Shree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is a Hindu temple located in Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital of Kerala, India. It is considered as the richest place of worship in the world. The name of the city of 'Thiruvananthapuram' in Malayalam translates to "The City of Lord Ananta", (The City Of Lord Vishnu) referring to the deity of the Padmanabhaswamy temple. The temple is built in an intricate fusion of the Chera style and the Dravidian style of architecture, featuring high walls, and a 16th-century gopura. While the Ananthapura temple in Kumbla in Kasaragod is considered as the original seat of the deity ("Moolasthanam"), architecturally to some extent, the temple is a replica of the Adikesava Perumal temple in Thiruvattar.
The principal deity Padmanabhaswamy (Vishnu) is enshrined in the "Anantha Shayana" posture, the eternal yogic sleep on the infinite serpent Adi Shesha.Padmanabhaswamy is the tutelary deity of the royal family of Travancore. The titular Maharaja of Travancore, Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma, is the trustee of the temple.
Several extant Hindu Texts like the Vishnu Purana, Brahma Purana,Matsya Purana,Varaha Purana, Skanda Purana, Padma Purana,Vayu Purana, Bhagavata Purana etc mention the Padmanabhaswamy Temple. The Temple has been referred to in the (only recorded) Sangam period of literature several times.Many conventional historians and scholars are of the opinion that one of the names that the Temple had, "The Golden Temple", literally was in cognizance of the fact that the Temple was already unimaginably wealthy by that point.Many extant pieces of Sangam Tamil literature and poetry as well as later works of the 9th century of Tamil poet-saints like Nammalwar refer to the temple and the city as having walls of pure gold. At some places, both the temple and the entire city are often eulogised as being made of gold, and the temple as heaven.
The temple is one of the 108 principal Divya Desams ("Holy Abodes") in Vaishnavism according to existing Tamil hymns from the seventh and eighth centuries C.E and is glorified in the Divya Prabandha. The Divya Prabandha glorifies this shrine as being among the 13 Divya Desam in Malai Nadu (corresponding to present-day Kerala with Kanyakumari District). The 8th century Tamil poet Alvar Nammalvar sang the glories of the Padmanabha.
It is believed that Parasurama purified and venerated the idol of Sree Padmanabhaswamy in Dvapara Yuga. Parasurama entrusted 'Kshethra karyam' (Administration of the Temple) with seven Potti families – Koopakkara Potti, Vanchiyoor Athiyara Potti, Kollur Athiyara Potti, Muttavila Potti, Karuva Potti, Neythasseri Potti and Sreekaryathu Potti. King Adithya Vikrama of Vanchi (Venad) was directed by Parasurama to do 'Paripalanam' (Protection) of the Temple. Parasurama gave the Tantram of the Temple to Tharananallur Namboothiripad. This legend is narrated in detail in 'Kerala Mahathmyam' which forms part of 'Brahmanda Puranam'.
Beautiful. Before you visit ,please follow the dress code as they won't allow without dress code. And also see the timings , as it opens in morning for three hours and evening for 2 hrs, so plan it accordingly, expect rush always.

Dress code for men , they can wrap dhoti on whatever they are wearing, or else saree and full length skirt is allowed. No electronic devices or metal , u can carry ur bag but no electronic devices in bag.
We visited the place at night, After 7:40pm there is a ticket charge of Rs. 50 for Darshan.
We were traveller's with a toddler.Took the tickets but had to come back due to the rush and long queue.

Beautiful and historic. It is worth the visit even if you are not Hindu. Non Hindus are not allowed inside the temple, but you can go to the museum to the left of it located in the old palace. It is gorgeous and has many priceless artifacts. Definitely go see the outside of the Temple and the museum. You cannot take pictures inside the museum. Only the outside.

There was a long queue to visit. Waiting time was nearly 2-3 hours.
Temple brings the peace that is very indeed present at the depth of heart. Only dhotis are allowed to wear for boys and also without shirt. So remember only dhotis without shirts. Dhotis are available for rent are temple premises itself. If need to buy one then the market area is very close to the temple. There all things could be found like food, clothing,bags, gadgets and etc, the security personnels over there are very helpful and ready to guide. Pilgrims attending from across the country make the temple darshan more special. Finally visit the main deity and also some small shrines are present and worth visiting them too.
The temple lives up to its expectations great feel and serene outlook. Spend more time reading about the architecture and unique features so when you visit you will get a good visit. Had a good darshan. Don't forget to take your dothi or you will get ripped off by the people selling knock offs.
Peaceful and ultimate bliss 🙏🏻🙏🏻. A suggestion to everyone who visits , visit early morning if youre lucky you will get 2 darshan. There is a cloak room right before the steps where you can put your luggage. Men must wear mundu without a shirt/tshirt. Women can wear long skirt/saree/ kurta with a mundu on top.

My visit to the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Trivandrum was peaceful and awe-inspiring. The temple's architecture was magnificent, and the atmosphere inside was serene. 1: Follow the dress code , no pants, casuals or western wear
2: No mobiles allowed , deposit in the cloak room
3: Place your footwear near the entrance gate to avoid burning your feet due to the scorching hot floor
4: Most important thing , when you visit the temple many members see the divinely beautiful golden idol inside the temple, but this is Utsav moorthy . Original idol span more then 25 feet tall behind the golden idol
5: You need to see the lord from 3 doors/windows inside the temple
6: You can see the lord's feet through the first door , navel area through the 2nd door and hand and head through the 3rd door
7: The beauty of the lord can't be described. You can see the face, forehead,Nose , mouth and chin of the lord Vishnu from the 3rd door
8: plan your visit in the afternoon at exactly 4pm so that you can finish your darshan within 20 mins
9: Before visiting the temple, just spare some time in reading the history of it

Back in June 2011, as a result of a petition filed in the court seeking transparency in the management of the temple and the subsequent investigation of the temple complex, six subterranean vaults were found inside the Padmanabhaswamy temple. They were subsequently named vaults A, B, C, D, E, and F. Out of the six, they managed to open five, from which came out items like gold coins, statues, jewelries, precious stones, crowns and even thrones made of gold! The collection turned out to be the largest ever recorded collection of items of gold and precious stones.
Shree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is really impressive! The design outside and the peaceful vibe inside are amazing. The god's statue is beautiful, and the history is cool. Just remember to dress appropriately and be ready for some security stuff. It's a special place to connect with culture and religion.

A magnificent temple. As soon as we go into the temple, we get an unknown divine feeling. Amazing sculpture is here. I can't express that feeling in words..you have to see it! There is a beautiful lake corner outside the temple. There are many fish in it which are visible to the visitors. It also contains crocodile but does not harm the fish, which is the specialty here.All the facilities we need are available in the surroundings of the temple. Definitely a place to visit with the whole family!
It's a very good temple. We visited on weekday but also there was a long queue to see Padmanabhaswamy. You can get special drashnam in the evening. We are not allowed with normal/regular dress inside the temple for men and women even kids

The famous ancient temple Sree Padmanabhaswamy is situated in the heart of Trivandrum. There are no parking facilities and also there is a high rush in front of the temple. The temple is very neat and clean. The temple is situated nearest to the KSRTC bus stand. 4,5 Km far from the railway station. Only Hindus and government officials would be let in the temple's main part. There is high security on all sides of the Temple. We couldn't see the Kalavara part .overall nice.

Such a nice zoo ever experienced. It's so beautiful zoo. Cleanliness is very nice and also lots of animal and birds are available. There also a museum which is very educational and original animal sculpture and lots of historical things like Kerala Nair houses, different types of clothing in India. Lots of chief ministers antique items and awards he have won. And also available aquarium which have lots of fish. It's a really great zoo, museum, aquarium in one place. I would like to 5 star because it's so beautiful and gorgeous zoo ever I visited.
Neatly maintained place, enough seats are provided to the visitors to take a rest while exploring the zoo. There is adequate shade from the trees all over the walkways. Sufficient parking lots are also provided. Refreshment outlets near the exit is also very convenient for the visitors. Worth visiting this place
The environment which is created there for animals is very attractive and looking so natural. More comfortable to spend time with family at evening time. The entry fee is also worth.But parking area should have to elaborate on weekends.
Very nice zoo with great animal diversity. Birds, snakes, wild cats, they have it all.
The best thing is its in the middle of the city with gift shops, snack shops outside. No food is allowed inside.
One of the best zoos that I have visited so far. Tigers, white Tiger, leopard, hyena, Lion, deer, monkey, reptiles, birds, hippopotamus, bear etc are the main attractions. A butterfly garden is also there. Lots of greenery and shades allow us to walk freely under the sun.
Entry fee ₹30 for adults and ₹10 for kids between 5-12 yrs age. Parking charge inside the zoo for 4 wheelers is ₹150 which is ridiculously high. Plastic bottles and items are not allowed. A cloak room is available at the entrance. Toilets are there inside the zoo premises.
Wonderful place, especially for kids. Full of trees, so one won't feel the summer heat much. Good number of birds and animals. Zebra, giraffe and a big vulture which used to be there few years back are missing now.My personal favourite are the hippos. Overall very well maintained. Parking available inside at Rs. 150. Also battery operated carts to see around the zoo (though I've never used as I prefer walking)
A beautiful place with all kinds of beautiful animals! You'll find tigers, different birds, reptiles, wild animals and snakes.
The entire zoo is well maintained and it's fun walking there, there's rush on holidays but again it doesn't take away the charm of the place.
Also there's aquarium and natural historical museum in the same area but different tickets. Food is good too, but it's usually crowded.

A Must visit place.. there option for a zoo cart which will be better for elderly which will cost about Rs. 800..on weekends and holidays parking will be an issue and is better to go for paid parking at the side entrance (Rs.150) rather than trying to get a free spot at the adjacent roads..Canteen and toilets facilities are there inside the zoo though are not well maintained.. The best timings will be from 10 to 11.30..

A visit to this zoo is a must if you're in the area. The variety of animals is impressive, and the enclosures seem spacious and well-maintained. Will visit again
I went with my workmates and spent some time there. It was nice to go with them, but the walk was really tiring. The hot weather was not to our advantage. And we were not able to see all the animals over there. That disappointed us.
We could only see the lion by accident and was not able to see the tiger there anywhere.

Had a great time here with family. There is some distance to walk within the zoo, which may be tiresome during hot and humid conditions. There are Asiatic lions, tigers (white as well), hyena, leopards and so on including many varieties of birds. The infrastructure is good and after the exit there is a small nice eatery of KTDC which serves some good cold non-alcoholic beverages and light refreshments. Overall, it offers a great place to walk under the shade of big trees.

Me and my kid were bored, so we decided to go to Zoo. As we planned, we were excited to see animals, near by. Especially we both were eager to see the wildest carnivores. After seeing Lions and Tigers in TV, there was an expectation to see them live as I have read in Kenneth Anderson books that they kill and can even carry a young buffalo on ther shoulder back... I wondered if it was possible, but when I saw, I understood it was possible.
Enjoyable place with nature. Place is too clean and properly maintained. No plastics bags and water bottles are allowed. If you definitely need that thing, you may pay fine and they give one sticker for that things. After you exit the gate you show that things to the officer, he will give your money back. I recommend that don't go with plastic bags and bottles. Animals may eat or surrounding may pollute. So avoid please. Keep environment as it is.

The animals are seen at their natural environment. The zoo is really big with many carnivores and herbivores enjoying their freedom within the enclosures. It also showcases many tropical plants and is a miniature forest. One wonderful thing was that there are useful information about the habitat,origin, apart from their scientific names and common names which was very educative. A serious student of biological sciences would find it useful. A must destination for kids with their friends and family. An ideal place for picnics and get-together. The entrance is very modest.
Thiruvananthapuram Zoo is a must-visit for anyone visiting the city. It is a well-maintained zoo with a wide variety of animals, including tigers, monkeys, leopards, lions and more. The grounds are very nicely landscaped and provide a great atmosphere to appreciate all the different animals. The zoo also has a number of educational exhibits, making it a great place to learn about animals, trees and their habitats.
The entry fee is 30 per head.
Best place to make a half day trip. There’s a bit to walk but buggy golf cart option available by paying extra. Entry ticket fees is 60 rupees. There are many animals, birds and reptiles to see inside.
Shadow available due to huge trees is the greatest plus point while walking during summer. Nicely maintained, not all separates have animals, some were empty. But overall a good place.

The zoo is serene and calm, lots of different animals and birds to view. A good place for kids to enjoy and rejuvenate.
Personally I feel for the animals, the wild is their call and they should be free in wild. Though they are taken care of they don't have the space to be free, i have visited the zoo probably after decades but i enjoyed it.

After the renovation post flood related damage, the beach is clean and nice. A good way to spend the evening. The footfall is large but can enjoy without disturbance.
The beach is not open to public as of 22 April 2022.

Nice beach to visit around Trivendrum. Parking is there and beach is near Trivendrum airport. This is where the Shri Ananta Padmanabha swamy aarat will be coming every year for holy bath from temple during yearly jaatra utsav. There is a park there and there are some statues and helicopter there in the park

Amid the heat of everything we go through in a busy city life, if you wish to take a break in serenity and silence, then here is a place to visit, especially during week days, there wouldn't be much crowd, and the vast wild beach waves takes all our attention.
However during weekends, it is pretty crowded and noisy. There is enough parking space outside and also has adequate cleanliness. Dining at the Old coffee house gives a nice sea side view while eating.

Fantastic Beach sort of near to Tiruvananthapuram Railway station. I visited during March, afternoon. It was very hot so not a single person could be seen. I've heard people come here during evenings and it's quite a happening place with the food stalls and restaurants lining the beach.

The beach is not so clean. Very crowded. Early morning hours are good - calm and no crowd. Fast food counters are open in the evening. People are just dumping trash on the beach. Be careful while walking - glass pieces are there.
[July 2023] This is a place that is most dear to the people of Trivandrum. Everyone who grew up in Trivandrum until 2000s has a very special place for this beach in their heart. With the iconic Indian Coffee House right opposite to the beach, it used to be a very lively beach.
A lot has happened since then. The Indian Coffee House closed and another restaurant called Old Coffee House took its place. A lot of beautification has taken place. The sea has taken up a lot of the shore including destruction of the side walks. No one is allowed to enter the sea. Yet, you can find a lot of people come here to watch the sea, take a walk, eat some street food and chill.
At present, you cannot enter the sea. But there's some park constructed where you can sit and enjoy. Also the view of the airport can be enjoyed from here. There's a dedicated parking available on top of roadside parking both of which are paid.
This beach is very near to Trivandrum airport and morning walk & long seashore looks great. But doesn't have much entrance at the beginning to enjoy the beach walk. Park is nearby to this beach. It would be great if govt would maintained this beach well.

The top beach in the Thiruvananthapuram district is unfortunately overlooked by the corporation. Despite initiating development activities, none have reached completion. This beach holds a significant narrative for me personally, being one of my favorite destinations. Its condition and the surrounding area serve as a poignant illustration of the inadequacies within our corporation.
This beach is beautiful and definitely a must visit. The ideal time to visit is before sunset. It does get very crowded in the evenings. There's a coffee house as well along with food and chaat stalls near the beach. Do take the kids out for a fun evening.

Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple is one of the renowned Lord Ganesha temples in Kerala. It is situated at the heart of East Fort, Thiruvananthapuram. The original idol of the Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple is a small idol of Lord Ganesh, with the right leg in the folded posture. Other deities worshipped at Pazhavangadi Maha Ganapati Kovil are Lord Ayyappa, Goddess Durga, Nagaraja, and Brahmarakshas. Devotees can see beautiful paintings of the 32 forms of Lord Ganesh inside the temple complex. Devotees break coconuts in front of this temple and one can hear the continuous cracking sound of coconuts as if firecrackers are being burst; this is known as ‘Soorathengai udaippathu’. There is a small tank in front for breaking coconuts and sack full of coconuts get broken here. The main offering at Pazhavangadi Maha Ganapathi Temple is breaking of Coconuts to remove obstacles, which runs an average of 2,500 a day. Modak is the favourite dish of Lord Ganesh, hence one can offer Modak as well. Another important offering to the Lord is Ganapathy Homam. There are two images of Ganesha inside the sanctum. One made of Granite and the other made of gold. Though the temple is very small, there are also shrines for Sasthavu, Bhagavathy and Nagas. This is one of the most famous Lord Ganesh temples in Kerala, situated within walking distance from Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
Ganesha is the God of Knowledge and is invoked at the commencement of any function. He is the god that protects his devotees from any obstacles(vighnam). Hence the name Vighneswara. He is also described as the Supreme Leader(Vinayaka).Ganapathy is said to have had two spouses. Buddhi(intellect) and Siddhi(achievement). Thus he is the master of knowledge and achievement. As Ekadanta, the Lord has limitless powers. As Heramba, he removes obstacles. As Lambodara, He protects all worlds. As Surpa Karna, He shows compassion by giving the highest knowledge. All these names for Lord Vinayaka, who is the Lord of all.
The Lord has four hands. In one hand he has a rope(ankusha) while in another he has an axe. With the axe he cuts off the attachment of his devotees to the world of plurality and thus end all the sorrows that go with it. The rope is used to pull the devotee close and closer to the Truth. The holding of the ankusha represents His rulership of the world. It is the emblem of divine Royalty. In a third hand he holds a rice ball that represents the joys of Sadhana. With the other hand he blesses his devotees and protects them from obstacles that they may encounter on their Spiritual path of seeking the Supreme.
The form of Ganapathi cannot, by any human standards, be termed as handsome. He has a small head, big stomach and uncouth form. But still we are captivated by His form and like to see Him more and more and worship Him. Beauty does not lie in the Aakaara, the external form but can be experienced even in Vikaara (apparent uncouthness). He has as his vehicle a small mouse.The significance of riding on a mouse is the complete conquest over egoism. Riding on a mouse, one of nature's smallest creatures and having the head of an elephant, the biggest of all animals, denotes that Ganesha is the creator of all creatures. Elephants are very wise animals; this indicates that Lord Ganesha is an embodiment of wisdom. It also denotes the process of evolution--the mouse gradually evolves into an elephant and finally becomes a man. This is why Ganesha has a human body, an elephant's head and a mouse as His vehicle. This is the symbolic philosophy of His form.
Lucky to visit at time of evening Aarti. If you want to visit closer to main idol then you must wear lungi, no need to take off shirt. It was heavy rush but things were orderly.

A couple of hundred metres walk from the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, it is not a very large temple, but is quite well patronised and there is always a good crowd here.

History:
The construction of this temple was when the Travancore Kingdom’s army was fighting on the Padmanabhapuram front. The regiment of the soldiers is on guard. The Yaskhi harassed them a lot. One of the troops was a devout follower of Lord Ganesh, who believed the Lord was constantly near him.
He was fearless while stationed at the fort because he knew Lord Ganesh would protect him and was surprised to find the Idol of Lord Ganesh when he went to the neighbouring river for a bath. The soldier interpreted this as a positive sign, and he resolved to carry the Idol with him at all times.
The entire Travancore army remained undisturbed and unchanged by the Yakshi for the rest of their lives. So, they built the temple where the soldier discovered the Idol, acknowledging its boundless power.

This is a small but famous temple which is situated in heart of Thiruvananthapuram city. There is no dress code in this temple but people visiting this temple are required to dress modesty. Did not find a temple run footwear keeping centre near this temple and people visiting this temple were keeping their footwear near the temple entrance. Breaking of coconut is the main offering in this temple. Photography is not allowed inside this temple.

The most common 'vazhipadu' or offering made to Lord Ganesh at the Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple is an open husked coconut which is cracked right at the temple. History & Legend of Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple
The history of the erection of this temple dates back to the time when the Travancore Kingdom army as at war on the Padmanabhapuram front. The regiment was on guard at the fort but was continually harassed by a Yaskhi, a relentless demon. Every soldier was petrified of encountering this demon. One of these soldiers was an ardent devotee of Lord Ganesh and believed that the lord is always with him. When he was stationed at the fort, he was fearless because he knew that Lord Ganesh would protect him.
When he went to the nearby river for his bath, he was surprised to stumble upon the idol of Lord Ganesh. The soldier considered this to be a good sign and decided to keep the idol with him at all times. The entire Travancore army was left undisturbed and unaffected by the Yakshi forever. Acknowledging the limitless power of this idol, a temple was constructed where the soldier had found the idol. However, when the headquarters of the Travancore Kingdom was moved to Trivandrum in 1795, they decided to move this holy idol with them. The present temple was erected in 1860 by the then reigning king Maharaja Ayilyam Thirunal, and unlike other temples, the Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple was maintained and looked after by the army.
The temple's inner sanctum, where the main deity resides, exuded an aura of divine energy. Devotees, with folded hands and bowed heads, offered their prayers and sought solace in the presence of the deity. The rhythmic chants of sacred mantras filled the air, creating a sense of unity among all present.
One of the most famous Lord Ganesha Temples located in the Trivandrum City itself. It is just at a walkable distance of 5-10 minutes from the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple. It is located on the roadside itself.

The pants are allowed in the temple to pray from outside only. To pray at very close that is from Nalambalam you need Dhoti.

A must visit if you are in Kovalam. The sunset view from the light house is memorable. The view from the top is really worth it. There are stairs and lift facilities to reach the top. At 5.30 pm they will stop giving entry tickets. You have to keep your baggage and footwear at the space provided and they charge a nominal fee for keeping your belongings safely. There are two timings for the visit viz, morning and evening. 20 rs is the entry fee and parking and video graphy charges are extra.
It was a beautiful experience. One could use the tile-paved stairs or the newly installed lifts, to go up. Though the aesthetic beauty of inside the lighthouse has been diminished by the lifts, the ravishing beauty of the outside view is untouched 😍. The cool breeze once we reach the top and the mesmerizing 360 degree views, would take anyone's breath away. The ticket price for an adult is 20 rs, and an extra 10 rs is charged for keeping the footwear and/or bags, which is a compulsory thing (you can't wear footwear inside the lighthouse).
You will get a beautiful bird's eye view of Kovalam beach!! you will have to keep your bags and footwears at the cloak room! It's a one way stair so might have to wait sometime for the lift or for the people to get down! Cash only so Bring Cash here! This beautiful Lighthouse was built in 1972 at this coastal line area of Arabian sea! If you are going by Lift Might Have To Wait ! Upon entering the lighthouse, there are stairs as well as a lift. It's recommended to take the stairs, allowing you to peep through the windows in between and capture scenes along the ascent. However, reaching the top involves a nearly 90-degree ladder, posing a challenge for some elderly individuals.
Despite the climb, the view from the top is heavenly, offering a breathtaking panorama of Kovalam Beach and its surroundings that words can hardly describe. The entry fee is 20 rs, and an additional 10 rs is charged for photography, even if it's for a mobile.
The location provides ample parking space, and amenities include washrooms and a small canteen. In summary, with its panoramic vistas and iconic status, the lighthouse is a must-visit place when exploring Kovalam.
Vizhinjam light house provides a beautiful view of the beaches on either side. There is limited parking available within the campus. There is a cloak room where one will have to deposit their belongings and footwear before going up the light house. One could either walk all the way up or take the lift to the top. The place can get crowded at times.

Situated near Kovalam Beach this 118 ft, red-white striped Light house offer bewitching views of the sea &the coast from atop.From the observation platform you can see Poovar in one direction& the famous Beemapalli mosque on the other.You can Climb up the spiral staircase of this cylindrical tower &take pictures of the sweeping views between 9 AM to 5 PM.
So capture the stunning views of the Arabian Sea lined with coconut trees from atop the lighthouse as you climb the 144 steps.

Most of the facilities are well-maintained. One highlight was the convenient lift that allowed access to the top of the lighthouse. It tends to become quite crowded, particularly on weekends, which will limit us to enjoy and relax at the top. Furthermore, I was disappointed with the state of the washroom facilities and seemed to be poorly maintained.
Please note that visitors are required to store their footwear outside the lighthouse and a storage fee is applicable. Additionally, there is a queue system in place for entry.

The view of the sunset from the lighthouse is unforgettable. The view from the summit is well worth the effort. To get to the summit, there are steps and a lift. They will stop giving out admittance tickets at 5.30 p.m. and will close completely at 6:30 p.m. You must keep your luggage and footwear in the designated area, and there is a small cost for keeping your possessions safe.There is a cafe and a playground for children. The visit is available in two times: morning and evening. The admittance cost is 20 rs, and parking and videography fees are additional.
You can get the birds eye view of the full Kovalam beach. Climbing up is also interesting and a better option if you don't want to wait for the slow lift to reach your floor. Arabian sea looks marvelous from the top. It can get crowded at the top, so choose the timing smartly for going up, closer to lunch time may be a good option. Though they close it at lunch time at around 2pm
Surprisingly, this is a cash-only place despite being managed by the Central government.
Lovely view of the sea coast facing the Arabian sea and nearby areas from the top of the lighthouse. There is a flight of steps and an elevator to go up. Have to remove your footwear before entering the lighthouse though. Lunch break from 12:30pm-2pm so cannot visit at that time. There is a cafeteria also below the lighthouse. Can later visit the lighthouse beach also, which is nearby. Hence, plan your visit accordingly and have fun!
Beautiful place and really worth visiting. This is best spot to enjoy the real beauty of Kovalam. What a view..!! It is easily accessible with a lift inside. But still need to climb a ladder. So needs to be fit enough to climb a ladder to go up. Also check the closing time as they are strict on that. The tickets are sold till 5pm and we can be there till 5:30pm.
This light house has lift up to 8 floors and then stairs for one to two floors.
Once you reach the top, you will get a view of kovalam beach and the vast sea view. There is nominal ticket entry for adults (Rs10) and the cost of every mobile(Rs 10).
Although the road is a bit narrow, there is ample space for parking and turning your tempo traveller. Driver may be reluctant to drop but do insist to go to light house parking.

You wil get a great view frm top 🙌🏼 bit crowded in weekday gets heavily crowded in weekends during sunset time.. see to it.. one more.thing to note is, climbing the last few steps would.be difficult for elder people ... There is a lift available which wil take you till one point after which u have to climb a few more steps..

Very neatly maintained and managed lighthouse and premises. View from top of lighthouse is amazing. Try to go in the evening just before sunset. There is also a food court nearby where you can get snacks, beverages and all. Ample amount of parking is also available. Some other development like children's play area as well as musical fountain is in progress.

The view from the lighthouse is amazing. Can view the sea to the horizon. Get a 360 degree view of kovalam, beach and the sea. Reaching the lighthouse and climbing up to the top is a challenge. Though there is a lift, but narrow stairs need to be climbed to reach the top.

This place is truly a hidden gem! Hard to find but when you do, it is totally worth it. This beautifully designed space. Our visit was elegantly conducted and was very educational.
It was an honour to access the curated museum. We saw the factory and the skilled craftsmen at work. You could feel the vibe, the passion and the sense of aesthetics of the founder. A man of taste who you can discover through the visit. The brand is full of heritage and vision translated into the collection which they make with the most personalised experience. This is probably my favourite place in Thiruvananthapuram, just because of the amount of thinking and style that has gone into making this space and designing the experience.The Trivandrum corporation is maintaining well. Beautiful and very well maintained museum. Everything is so clean and full of greenery. It is equipped with centralized ac so u won't feel hot n continue to enjoy this journey full of knowledge.
If you are in Thiruvananthapuram, and have some spare time, do visit the Museum. It showcases old historical relics, figurines, statues, coins, temple chariots etc. from India as well some Art and cultural displays, masks etc. from South-East Asian Countries, like Bali and also from Japan. The museum is situated in a campus that also houses the Chitra Kala Musem- that displays Raja Ravi Verma paintings and also of Roerich, A Zoo, An Aquarium, Natural History Museum and 3D Theatre so your kids too shall enjoy the trip for sure.
The facade is gorgeous. And it ends there. The interiors have seen far better days. Almonard pedestal fans are strewn all over the place. They haven't been cleaned in ages. Majority of the spot lights do not work. The paltry entrance fee of twenty rupees will in no way help maintain this historical monument.

One of the best museums and park in the whole of Kerala. The Napier museum building is an architectural masterpiece. It offers very detailed wood carvings and awe inspiring views. The adjacent park is well maintained with ample walkways and rest places. Its best suited for morning and evening strolls. There is a magnificent radio kiosk inside the park is an attraction. This park is also the entrance for the famous Thrivananthapuram Zoo.

The atmosphere inside is very nice. Many old statues, old coins, old materials used by kings, guruvayoor temple miniature can be seen here. Ticket fare for one adult is 20rs. For children maybe the fare would decrease. You have to keep the ticket till you exit the museum.. No video allowed inside. Only taking photos are allowed.. The museum is surrounded by many different plants and flowers..

The ivory section is amazing but needs some conservation message caveats. The audio guide option needs to be promoted at the ticket counter.
The museum building itself is unique. Located on an elevated place, this museum catches the eyes of the visitor of the zoo.

Attukal Bhagavathy Temple was located in one of the prime locations in Thiruvanthapuram. The temple had a ample parking space for four wheelers. The temple has a clear sign boards and has good ventilation. It was one of the powerful temples in the city along side padmanapaswamy temple and pazhavangadi temple. We went around the evening when the temple scheduled to open around 5:30 pm. The temple had a quite a crowd in that time they handled the crowd really well opened on time and handled it properly. We had good dharsahan there the apam served as prasadham in the couner could have been better compared to the other temples serving it. On a whole we had a peaceful dharshan when we went there.
Great temple. It's in genies books of records for highest no of women worshiping in a day. Very vibrant and historical temple. Neat and clean. Temple timings are from morning 5 am to 12 pm. Then in the evening from 5 pm to 9 pm. No point going when it's closed in afternoon.

Attukkal Bhagvathy temple is one of the most popular temples in Trivandrum along with Padmanapaswamy temple and Pazhavangadi temple.
The attukal pongala is the main festival here. We had visited in Feb 2022, when the 10 day long festival before Pongala had started. It was more crowded than usual but still very well managed. The police was making sure that good covid protocols are maintained.
There is ample parking space. For the festival lot of shops have opened near the temple.
There is also a KSRTC bus stand in the temple parking for devotees
An old temple in Thiruvananthapuram. Also here they burst crackers as a part of prayer. They also maintain it well neat and clean. Also it has huge parking for all vehicles which is also free to use.

Visited the temple at 5.30am. Was happy to see live bhajans with musical instruments and the singing team at the entrance. Had very good darshan, more devotees in the early hours, it was calmz no rushing and pandits do explain abt the temple if enquired..

The serenity and divinity of the holy place is in exuberance. You will start feeling as soon as you reach its compounds. Well maintained (cleaned) and all the COVID guidelines followed in letter and spirit. Covered head not allowed as was seen by the temple management ensuring it. Inside photography not allowed. There's a ample space for parking. Located at the parking place "Indian Coffee House" is worth visiting after having Darshan. There's prasadam counter inside the temple premises where it can be obtained on payment. I loved this place.

One one cons which i have noticed is, as this is such a crowded place, the temple authorities need to pay little more attention to toilet facilities. There is one pay and use toilet but cant handle more people it seems.

Divine place. Crowded on Fridays even without any festivities. Visited twice once on a weekday and once on Friday. Would recommend going on a weekday rather than on weekend, if you are looking for a calm and peaceful temple ambiance.

It is a unique experience. Magic and music shows by the distinctly abled children who have been trained and taken care of by committed teachers of magic planet. Circus and magic shows, drama shows and it goes on.
But six hours is long and it is difficult to manage children. Who get restive. Add to that the problem of language. If you do not know Malayalam, then the first part is a punishment.
Reducing it to around three and half hours putting lot of the first part and some lengthy videos into a beautiful brochure would do lot of good.

We went to magic planet on 18 Dec 2021.
Due to Covid, they are open only from 4pm to 9pm, expect Mondays. Pre booking required.
First there was an inducation, then an itinerary was distributed. There were 10 programs, on the day we went. It was coordinated well by the staffs. Programs were - Different arts centre performances, Comedy magic show, Circus show, Street magic show, Dramagic show, Mpower show and Illusion magic show.
The shows had 5 mins break in between for tea and toilet breaks. There is a coffee shop with snaks. Toilets are managed neatly.
What surprised me is that, they are not enforcing any ticket fee. You will be surprised by the energy of the super friends here. You can spend a day with them, sponsor meals on your birthdays or donate via bank transfer.
These super friends are now employees of magic planet with monthly salary. It is possible to buy handcrafted items from their mothers' as well.
Magic planet's dream is to build a Universal magic studio for all Super friends out their. (The building construction already started at Kinfra Park!). Also, its their dream to send a child to Paralympics 2024, and return with a medal.

I sponsored meals on my birthday. Its Rs. 8500 for veg meals and Rs.15,000 for chicken biriyani. Food that you sponsor will be shared with the children, their parents and staffs.
You can also join along with them during lunch. If you reach early, you can spend some time with them as well.

A great experience that touches your mind and heart.
It has elements of circus, magic, social welfare, theater, cottage industry, orchestra, dances, classical music all woven into the whole experience.
We went with small children. They were engaged in the fun atmosphere. I would say our whole family was well entertained.
I wouldn't recommend the "Tempest" show for younger kids as they will struggle with reality vs show elements.
This is a place to visit, not just for the daily shows but for the services being provided to bring about a change in the minds of those with intellectual disability. There is a marked improvement in the mental health of the children here after being involved in magic and the performances here. God bless the supporters of this project and more people should visit this place to help in its growth.

The most heartwarming show was the performance by Disabled people,where they have mesmerized the viewers by showcasing their talents.
There is no entry fee. You can donate as much as you can,which will help those kids.
Had such a fun time with family and cousins here. The place has ample amount of parking space, amazing service staffs and beautiful scenery. Very nature based and the canteen here is also very clean maintained and good tea and coffee. The specially abled kids there showcased their best talents and they were very welcoming. Definitely will visit again.

The entrance through the garden has a variety of paintings, touches our mind, a vivid variety of plants with medicinal values & flowers. Unique constructions with figures, makes us smile.
I was happy to see "The man who doesn't smile, the Glass magical space & the Impower shows', which were amazing.
I was flattered by the "Mentalist Show & The Magical Show", that really blowed the mind. How fast & superb they are doing actions. No words!
"The Tempest, Drama in Malayalam & the The Circus" were breathtaking. The scenery in the background through graphics, visual effects, lights & sounds & wind. 👌Performances of artists. Wow! Really attractive.
Finally the "Dances, Magic performances, Instrument performances, Songs & drawings" by the Godly children were extremely great. Hat's off to the team for bringing the great talents of children.
The cafeteria offers superb tea, which is a must try & Mother's corner is also useful to buy crafts made by mothers.
Last it's a must to mention about the staff, who were really compassionate and helpful. From beginning of the programme till end they stood with smile & also appeared in the shows in different costumes quickly, Weaved their hands & said good-bye when we left the park. Really, the whole staff deserves special mention. Good & Great!
Need to mention about the food, just superb, I ordered the meals. It contained rice, kovakka mezhukkuvaratty, chena curry, pulissery, thayiru, rasam, pappadam, payar & achar. Biriyani & chicken Curry are also available. For meals it costs ₹100 & for chicken curry also ₹100.
A must visit place in Trivandrum..! The show timing is from 4-9pm and it is totally engaging. Got to see so many beautiful specially abled kids performing. They have many talented magicians as well. We got a surprise chance to meet the “Magic Uncle” Muthukad Sir. This place runs for a good cause, so I personally request everyone to visit and support. All the staff were so friendly and they have a decent snack varieties also. So it is the best option to spend your day off evening. A unique and great experience that makes us rethink our perspective of life. The shows are a combination of art, circus, magic performed by differently abled children and experienced professionals. There is a stall where you can buy items made by their mothers. There is no entry fee or ticket. You can donate any amount as per your wish. A great humanitarian move by our great magician Gopinath Muthukad sir. This kind of initiatives should be supported by all.
What a delightful experience we had. A not to miss spot in trivandrum.
The 7 hr show or a series of shows keeps you glued throughout. The integration of magicians, circus performers and specially abled but unbelievably talented inmates of the place makes it a unique experience. The way its specially abled inmates have been trained by the magic planet trainers to perform magic tricks, display their paintings, render their songs and musical instruments is simply incredible. So you dont feel sorry for the inmates but marvel at their confidence and perfection achieved by them in their respective skills.
You need to prebook one day in advance plus check in advance about their show timings. Some days its 930 to 430 pm and other days its 330pm to 1030 pm. Their timings given on the google are thus not correct. Since its a 7 hr show, so they provide limited menu for your lunch/dinner, as you cannot leave the show in between.

It’s an amazing place to visit with your family in Trivandrum, established by Mr. Gopinath Muthukad. Kids would love to visit the place. As the name suggests, the place is all about the magical journey and you can even see wonderful and talented differently abled children performing here. Wonderful experience.
Great experience. Had a great time watching the superstars of magic planet perform. A wonderful ambiance created in a gem of a place. Great effort taken by the authority to maintain and teach the children there.
This place is magical (pun intended). This place is a haven for all the street magicians and differently abled people.
It has magic shows and all those children perform magic tricks and showcase their talent. It also has a magic show by Mohammed Shanu and the vibe of this place is mesmerizing, it makes you never want to leave. Overall a magical experience.
The place and experience is good, however had some major issues with their conduct.
1. The place was closed on Monday. So we went on Tuesday, this day also they decided not to function! Due to which my whole plan was upset. They abruptly decide when to have morning show and when to have evening show. Not sure what's the case here.
2. All the shows, the talk are in Malayalam. Being a tourist place expect them to also speak in English! Surprisingly no one knew English.
3. Although there was a language barrier, the people were nice, but couldn't understand a word.
4. There are many shows, the real magic show is probably two or three. Rest are all shows and showcase from the differently ables children that they train.
5. Better be here in the morning and the main shows are in the start. If you miss them, don't think you can attend them again.
A very good experience. A diiferent world for the differently abled. Go there to be a participant of their programs, dance, bands, magic shows etc. This is the least we can do. There was no entrance fee.

A fun place to go, especially for kids who are 3 years old or older. An entertainer who is worth our money and time. Very well taken care of; the work to keep the place looking beautiful is really good. A unique and popular tourist spot in Trivandrum that we recommend for anyone visiting the area. The shows have magic and circus acts. All the performers are really good and keep us interested the whole time. Apart from having fun, the place is where the Different Art Centre is located. The Different Art Centre helps kids with special needs. Their performances will amaze and captivate us. Specials kids activities like Dance, Magic show, painting, Filim songs and lot more. Anyone will love the place because of the beauty and activities.

If you are touring Trivandrum, this art gallery is one to visit along with Napier museum and museum of history and heritage right outside the zoological park.
Wonderful place for art enthusiasts. The gallery is located within the Napier museum complex and houses a collection of works by the finest artists of our land, including the likes of Raja Ravi Varma. Mural paintings from temples and palaces are also put on exhibition. Original works which have been taken up by the government for conservation have been displayed. However, for a place that could enlighten a lot of us about our rich artistic heritage, there are hardly any information boards on the paintings. At least the year of the painting, the media used, the style followed could all be displayed as further insights to the visitors. Involving the students of fine arts could help. Most people spend 1-2 hours at the gallery, but that can be easily stretched if they can provide more insights to the visitors about the artworks displayed.
For me it's the bestest art gallery in kerala since it showcasing the great works of Raja Ravi Varma . His famous painting ' hamsadamayanthi ' is one amoung many of his amazing art works that can be viewed. Mural section is also unique in its category. A must visit palce in trivandrum.
Sri Chitra Art Museum is not very large but it is located in a scenic location right next to the zoo. It is famous for having many Raja Ravi Varma paintings and those of his relatives and mentor. Also has some mural paintings and other artists. Wish there was more written about the other artists and their history.

The Sri Chitralayam, popularly known as Sri Chitra Art Gallery, was opened to the public by the erstwhile Maharaja of Travancore Sri Chitra Thirunal on the 25th of September 1935 for the enjoyment, education and development of artistic taste of the people. It has a collection of paintings representing the various genres of paintings in India, along with a few from other parts of Asia with a distinct stamp of Indian culture.
The Gallery was reconstructed out of two bungalows side by side in the museum Gardens. The Construction, furnishing of exhibits and hanging was done under the direction of Dr. Cousins, the well known exponent of art and literature. He was instrumental in assembling this collection of paintings from various places. He spared no efforts in furnishing this gallery with rare and representative specimens of paintings from near and far. A large collection of paintings is a generous gift from the Royal House of Travancore and also from Kilimanoor Royal family.
The major attraction of Sri Chitra Art Gallery is the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma. He is one among the greatest painters of India.
Hosting Ravi Verma's inspiring and immersive artwork in a low key setting, this place is almost hidden in the zoo. A really well maintained art gallery.

One of the cleanest railways stations I've visited so far. I must say everything seems organized and managed well.
The waiting rooms are clean, smelling good. The Cloak room is strategically placed and the staff is very well behaved. The escalators and lifts work. Over-all we see the dedication of the staff in maintaining the station as we see it.

Built in 1931, this is the busiest railway station in kerala and one of the main rail hubs of Southern Railway. Very accessible with auto stands and thampanoor bus stand located just opposite to the station. All facilities are available, including a veg and non veg refreshment room, waiting rooms and wash rooms. Station is neat and organised. Parking can be a hassle, due to the large volumes of passengers going through the station everyday.
Thiruvananthapuram central railway station is one of the most important and busiest railway stations in Kerala, India. The main railway station for Thiruvananthapuram city, the Central Railway Station now features passenger escalators for added convenience. The platforms are maintained well and there is a noticeable cleanliness about the place.
There are five platforms and two entrances - the main entrance is opposite the central bus station and the western entrance is on Power House road.
This station is good & well mentain everything. Here food court is affordable. Here wheel chair entrance & it's parking, vehicles parking is available. Escalator is available on every plateform. Ticket counter is outside of the station, here approx 5 to 6 ticket counters are available. LED display is available which are inform the train schedule for passenger. Bus stand is Outside of this station.

This is one of the main railway stations in Kerala. Most of the trains start from here. There is a comfort station here. Luggages could be stored in the cargo room at a reasonable price. There are not many restaurants inside the stations, but there are tea stalls, etc.
Good ststion. Clean with good facilities. The canteen, presently operated by IRCTC, is 40 years old and serves decent meals. In fact, I and my wife had lunch three days running when we visited in 1994!!

A/C waiting lounge at 30 Rs per hour has all the facilities for passing time.. multiple stalls are there in each platform..terminus/starting point to multiple trains including the latest bullet,Vande Bharat.
This is the main junction and big station with several trains starting from here and connecting various cities in India.

Nice place, great casual than previous facilities. But the wash room facilities should be improved, Passenger satisfaction services must be provided and food and accommodation are not too good, more facilities should be arranged and passenger information station should be doubled and the plastic wastes near the track should be removed, and the ambiance and train experience were good
Some points should be improved, moreover it's a good railway station than the other railway stations in Kerala.

a very good place to spend evening time for kids and family. It is one of the rush free space inside the city having plenty of green and also a clean place.
consists of children's park and swimming pool. Children's park is really good especially for small kids, compared to other parks in trivandrum.
An excellent picnic spot, children will surely enjoy as there is play and children park. But reaching the location will be a little tough, but transportation facility is available.
This is a nice place for everyone to have a break from all the hustles in the city.
Calm and quiet with a lake view and if you have kids then lots of outdoor activities for them like the see saw, different slides and all.
There is also boating in the lake and a 12 min train ride inside that both are very nice.
The entry fee is 20 per person, the train and boat are chargeable.
It is a pleasant and peaceful way to end your evening. Got to enjoy the train safari as it can bring u little joy. There is also kids park where u could enjoy as family as well as individuals. Didn't get to ride boat or such as we were a little late.

This is a good Lake side park where you can spend an evening.. There is pathway to walk in the park and by the Lake side. You can sit by the side of the lake and enjoy the view and cool breeze.
The lake merges into the sea. You have to cross floating bridge to reach the beach.
There is boating facilities, a toy train, and ample place for kids to enjoy.
The toy train costs 50 per head but it is worth the ride. It goes around the park including bridge and pond.

a pleasant park for an evening, right on the beautifuf veli lake, with a small floating restaurant. there is a way of walking over the sand to the actual sea beach at low tide, but when i went in the evening, that route was too dangerous. the foliage in the park is nice, the 'modern' sculptures a little baffling, and kids were enjoying themselves trying to cross the 30-50 feet ropes slung between towers. there were a bunch of meghalaya kids visiting and enjoying themselves when i was there. the only bad part are the water hyacinth weeds, and also the garbage that accumulates at the waterfront (plastic bottles etc), although i am not sure what can done about it.
Had fun at the tourist village. The park and beach are awesome. If you intend to take the small train then get tickets in advance as they get sold out fast during festival season.
The place is beautiful, but requires a few more things to be done.
1. The boat ride was not functional when I visited. Even if it was, it's a small pool that the boat goes, larger area or into the sea would be fantastic
2. The options for food is literally not present except for an ice candy cart and raw mango cart.
3. Just don't visit in the noon unless you want to get fried. Having a few shades near the beach would help big time.
Apart from this, it's a beautiful place with visiting in the evening just before sun set.
It was a satisfying encounter. Even in the afternoon, the lakeside scenery and the powerful sea breeze currents make for a pleasant visit. Adults must pay 20 rupees per head; minors under a certain age may be eligible for a discount. Additionally, ample parking is offered for 20 rupees. To appreciate the fresh wind and the scenery with your significant other, it could be advisable to visit before noon and preferably in the evening. All that's there is a wholesome seashore and park along the lake.
A very beautiful tourist village. Very calming, green, scintillating and a beautiful lake with a hanging bridge, boating facility, toy train and a beautiful stretch of sun clad beach. Timings are a disappointment 😔 because they say it is open till 6:30 pm but when you enter after 5 pm they will close entry for boating and no access to beach after 6:15 pm so be careful not to buy tickets after 5 pm because you will just spoil your mood with blocked access to the best parts of the beach and lake boating.
Altogether a wonderful lake to chill with family and friends. 😁🚀🏖️🦀

The place had been beautified and revamped pretty neatly over the years. The toy train is especially a highlight. The place could use a little more clean-up in the lake and the beach though. Plus they have plenty of parking as well and the tickets are dead cheap for what you can experience. Highly recommend if you are in Trivandrum

The toy train is the major attraction where anyone can get a ticket and have a trip around the park. Must visit. Please avoid during sunny hot days. Evenings are the best.
It is like paying money to visit the beach. If you are going with family and kids it is good since the kids can play with a lot of things. If only adults are there then it's a waste of money. There are other activities like boating and toy train too which you need to pay extra money. Evening at 6:15 the guards will tell you to go back from the beach and by 7pm they will close it.

The best part of visiting this place is, we've to go on a small boat trip to reach there. The animals are very much close to nature out there. The animals are very well protected. We can see elephants, lions, crocodiles, deers etc.
Neyyar dam and surrounding places are good. The view of the dam and the park nearby offers a good spot for family picnics. But the horrible thing is the "wildlife sanctuary". It's just a name for animals put under captivity in a confined space. The boating program includes boating to a nearby island which has the "deer park" and elephant and crocodile "rehabilitation" centre. There's nothing but very few crocodiles put in a cage and an elephant (yes, only one) in chains. They say that it's too old. And after that comes "deer park" - again lots of deer in a confined space, just like in a zoo! Why do they call this a wildlife sanctuary? I really don't know. This costs 250 per person!
The natural beauty of the place is breathtaking and awesome! But why does the management do this? They could have turned this into something beautiful and memorable for the people who visit right? Totally unhappy with the management of tourism here. Now you decide whether to visit or not.

The reservoir's surface area is 91 km2 (35 sq mi) and the dam's spillway has an 809.40 m3/s (28,584 cu ft/s) maximum discharge capacity.Wild life includes gaur, sloth bear, Nilgiri Tahr, jungle cat and Nilgiri langur, wild elephants and sambar deer.

Neyyar wildlife sanctuary is a popular one day destinations in Trivandrum. Situated in an area of around 128 km square and is a part of the Agasthyamala biosphere reserve. This reserve forms the basin for the Neyyar River and its tributaries Kallar and mullayar. The natural vegetation and the diverse species of mammals such sloth bear , tiger, leopard, elephant, barking deer, sambar, etc several species of birds and reptiles together form a large ecosystem. A crocodile rehabilitation centre and Elephant rehabilitation centre has also been set up here. Tourist information complex provides all the information and tickets for parking and entry. Boating facility is available but carries limited number of people and there could be a long wait for boats to return. Boating takes one towards a small forest cover where the lions and leopards are said to be conserved. Few small stalls and a ktdc restaurant work here. Even though the hygiene and maintainable are average regarding the eateries. There is very less vegetarian choice of food / meals available in the same. It would be better to carry the food and water to this spot. The park near the dam is a place that people spent the evenings. Overall Maintenence is poor in this reserve. The authorities cancel the boats whenever they feel like. The parking facility is too far. People park on the road side . The whole road is crowded and one can expect a long traffic jam there.

It’s 1 hour from Trivandrum city. The place has a crocodile park that can be accessed without a boat. Opens at 9 am.
Nothing much to see. The sanctuary is on another island and we need to use a boat to see it. Took us about 1.25 hrs to enter the boat, see the 2 elephants, few deer and 2 crocodiles and return.
To see the deer, you will need to go early before it gets too hot, else they will go up the hill and return only in the evening when it cools down. So please plan accordingly.
We paid 250 per person. Not really worth the time and money, in my opinion.
The lion park is not there anymore as the lions died.
There is place to drink tea, coffee etc outside .
You wont find any proper restaurants nearby, though. There is one ktdc but we dint try it.
Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary is a superb place, blending with nature—hills, lakes, forests, and parks. The boating from Wildlife Santuary to Deer Park was great! You can take a small walk inside the forest to reach the deer rehab park. There is plenty of space for kids, family, and friends. The crocadile park could be improved more to attract tourists! One thing that we missed was the lion safari, as new lions are yet to reach!
Neyyar wildlife Sanctuary It's a good place for one day trip with family and children's. In this Sanctuary they have a lion Safari park, Deer and Crocodile rehabilitation center. Boating has good experience with proper safety measures.
Neyyar dam and it's wildlife sanctuary is a good place to just visit. Never recommend it to come and see from a far away place.If you stay at trivandrum just come and visit.Lion safari park is there but when I reached there on 13October 2023they told me the lions are dead. You can go and see dam area enjoy boating 250 /- per head KTDC stay, resturant and beer parlour available.and there is crocodile , elephant and deer park to see
Simply Awesome & Beautiful scenic view all around western ghats & the river. A Must visit place in Kerala.
Best place for weekend trip. You will get a ticket 2500/- for 5 people. Which include boating, crocodile park and dear park. All staffs are friendly and helpful. Small snacks counter available. Renovation work is going on.

Nice place in forest near to neyyar catchment area.... dedicated to Steve Irvine..the great crocodile show man...so many crocodiles kept as such in natural conditions....there is an entry through road in kottoor neyyar dam road.. but entry is restricted...... accessible thought boat of forest department from .. neyyar dam....nice journey through dam catchment area in boat...nice place never miss...
This place is undergoing some maintenence/ extension, so when we visited, the walk wasn't the best thanks to the pavements
There are about 15-18 elephants, and each of them have a different story of how these elephants reached the training centre. Apparently. The staff were incredibly nice and friendly and helped us in every possible way. We grabbed lunch from the canteen, which was quite decent for the money.
It was horrible, it is not a rehabilitation center, it is torture for the animals. I am a biologist from Europe and you can see how the animals suffer, because they are tied up to a tree and are not able to move. Because of that, of course you can see agressive and mentally ill behaviour. How can somebody do that? There is so much space, where the animals could move around, they just have to make any kind of fence to protect people. That is not difficult. Many countries have rehabilitation centers, but the elephants can run free for the whole day. It is possible there too, plenty of wonderful beautiful place, so you really have to change it, when you want to do something for nature and the elephants! You have to change the way you treat these poor elephants, give them a lot of space and a feeling of freedom, what every elephant needs, especially in a so called "rehabilitation center"!!! What is the problem to do that? It is your responsibility to take good care of the elephants. Give them plenty of space, what you already have. Change it!
A well maintained crockodile park inside the beautifull Neyyar dam catchment area and possess different species of crocodiles .The park was dedicated to the great crocodile researcher Steve Irwin
Its a nice place to visit, you can see more than 10 elephants including calfs. Elephant safaris are not available, and approaching or touching the elephants is prohibited. The area is undergoing modern developments. They are treating elephants well. All the elephants that I saw were healthy and happy.

India's first elephant rehabilitation centre. It's a fantastic destination to explore, with a wonderful atmosphere. The staff here are exceptional, providing excellent care for the elephants who are all content and joyful. Each elephant has their own cozy house, and there are spacious outdoor and indoor areas for them to roam freely. It's a great spot for leisurely walks, enjoying the refreshing cool breeze. Moreover, this place even offers river house boating, adding to its charm. I personally like this place due to the atmosphere 👌
I wonder where these elephants get rehabilitated to? Not to go back to where they came from. Apparently they take orphaned little ones here to "rehabilitate". Nobel as it sounds, when we went there they were all chained with 2 legs to trees on a 30cm chain. One Elephant was so distressed it couldn't stop shaking. One was tied so oddly it had to stand in a full split position and couldn't move. All under the guise of being "dangerous"..
A keeper walked past another one signaling it to move and the animal did in like in a circus.
I don't see why you have a park that big and you can't let the animals roam free? They don't need guidance, they just need a space to be, to live and to play.
They get fed and walked but then just chained up again for hours at a time. Kerala government, you put all this money in to reconstruct this area. Please do something about this, it's horrible to watch. Majestic animals like this should not be treated this way.
Lot of construction activities going on. It looks like several trees have been cut. The amount of greenery has definitely been reduced. The approach road was also under repair when we went, the staff said the road work is expected to be done by the end of January.

Visited here around 1 or 2 months ago. There are around 10-12 elephants only. A perfect place to hangout of you want to avoid busy tourist place.
