Nice square with a lot historical buildings, temples, shops and restaurants. It's an old square where a lot of historical events took place. There is supposed to be 50 temples in this place, though some of them are very old and not maintained well. Nice place to spend time.

Lots of temple and kings palace to be seen..this place is quite huge so expect a little walking. Got to know many ancient cultures related to Nepalese people. A must visit place. I don't exactly remember the temple's name but saw a black mandala by dalailama on the entrance door.

It was very nice and informative place. Here we can see the oldest architectural design. Without any machinery they build so many high rise buildings and they're still very strong. It's q very nice tourists spot. Kids and students can visit here and they can learn more about past.

This place is situated at the heart of Kathmandu's business hub, New Road. Roads are busy and full of people all the time. This heritage site has lots of temples and sculptures around. Morning, day or evening, it's fun to walk around watching all the busy lives going about their day. Everyone should visit this place if they are around the area, it doesn't matter if you are by yourself, with your partner or in a group, this place has a fresh vibe that will please all.

Several temples in a huge square, among them Jagannath. The small one are very interesting and peculiar. In the morning, the area is visited area by the Nepalese to pray and do their offering to the Gods.

Good but under a major rejuvanation process. Most temples closed due to renovation. Lots of people visiting during evenings. Worth a visit, if not now then in the upcoming years when all the damage due to earthquake is undone and a new durbar square is brought to life.

This is another historical place. Also a place for shopping all kinds of stuff. There are a lot of roof top cafe's around. Feels warm in the evening. Place looks lovely with so many people around. There is also a pedestrian street where vehicles are not allowed.

At first we thought it was a gated area that need buy ticket or wearing special bangle pass to enter but it wasn't. If the guard ask you to pay the ticket then you need to, if not then you can enter free based on your appearance as local. normally white people they alert your present. It's more better of there is signage label each place / buildings. Maybe can give more info about the building such as date, function, materials used etc.

One of the main squares in Kathmandu, very historical and great vibes overall. The entrance fee was 1000 NPR (steep for Nepal) and it gets you access to some buildings which they wouldn't let you in otherwise. You need to bargain hard with the street vendors.

Nepali cultural expert Satyamohan Joshi recently said that patan durbar has about 7,000 relics/artifacts. However, only 300 artifacts are currently under display. Therefore, there is high possibility (and a need too) to utilize durbar's open grounds as a big archaeological garden which can showcase almost 6,500 hidden artifacts.

This huge quadrangle building was a palace for hundreds years. It has been transformed per part in a museum. There are some a very nice statue of Keshavnarayan - a form of Vishnu - outside and historical pieces in the museum. In the middle is a place where the animals were sacrified.

One of the best place to visit for tourists if they are around Kathmandu valley. This museum reflects the ancient art and culture of Nepal and represents the richness. Nepal is cradle of Buddhism. Museum has some of the most precious idols of Buddha that you cannot see anywhere else in the world. The museum is not only working on the preservation of art and culture but also the an autonomous institution working on the designation of Buddhism. This is one of the finest museum that I ever saw. It did little bit researched and came to know that Austrian Government and UNSECO helped the Nepal to restore the area and organisation to develop as an institution. I guess one has to stay there for more days to have a good sense of locals and about the museum. I have some knowledge that different gestures and poses of Buddha represents different meanings. One can only comprehend if properly informed. For the first time I saw Buddha in so many positions and that feeling was great. I am planing to visit Nepal in near future and this time I will certainly stay for more. I wish you good luck.

One of the best museums I’ve visited in my life. Very insightful, the information given is thorough yet concise. A must visit in order to gain more knowledge on the spiritual and artistic side of Nepal. Also, the architecture and views through all the little windows are stunning.

Among the three cities' museum, I found this to be properly managed one. Lots of open space where you can chill for whole day. Architecture preservation is also top notch. Very minimal entry fee. Love spending time here.

The space itself is very nice, the exhibits are not. It’s worth visiting to walk around the beautiful grounds and building with a view of the square below. You also get tourist access to the square. Most of the exhibits are about rather simple architectural features such as support beams.

This is a MUST GO if you visit Patan Durban Square. The museum display of artifacts are as good as any European standards. It features many ancient bronze statues, mainly of Hindu and Buddhist deities but the most unique Buddha statue is of the 12 th century. 3 floors of worthy exploration that is filled with tantric text and photos showing Patan in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

I loved it.The vibe and structure is ancient. We can witness art from centuries and can connect to the energy which are still alive from a long time.

Once the Royal palace of the kingdom of Patan, this place was converted to Patan Museum later after the unification of Nepal. And this place is a marvel of beauty. The courtyards it has, the monuments and different gods inside, the stone & wood carvings, gold and silver works; a pure mixture of highest level of craftsmanship with elegance. While the museum documents and displays the artifacts of historic importance including royal artifacts, tantric and cultural texts, statues of different gods, paintings to name a few; this place has turned out to serve as a perfect location for various kinds of photo and video shoots. You have to pay a fees to get inside and separate one to do professional shoot inside. They have necessary amenities and the museum with it's perimeter is kept very neat and clean everyday. There are some places where you cannot go inside or take pictures, you should be weary and follow the instructions of the guards and guides. All in all, a beautiful masterpiece of art and architecture, very highly recommended!

The museum has something for everyone – architectural plans, artistic wooden carvings or metal sculptures, rooms explaining hinduism or buddhism, or the history of Patan. I really enjoyed seeing and learning about the wooden carvings. By far the best of the three Darbar squares in Kathmandu Valley, really peaceful, serene, and also educational.

I have been here multiple time and Patan Museum was and is always very beautiful. Evenings would be the best time to visit. You can see all the history of Patan over the years along with the unique little bahals and passeways in the once palace. Then towards the end you can take numerous pictures in the gorgeous chaurs they have. It also a heaven if you love architecture in general. The staff there were pretty friendly and showed us around when we asked about the place. You can enjoy the history of Patan, beautiful architecture and beautiful pictures all at under NPR 100.

iranya Varna Mahavihar a Newa Buddhist monastery, was constructed around 1409. The term "golden temple" was given to the structure more as a result of tourism and a shortened translation than due to its true composition in pure gold. The temple has a magnificent golden luster because the majority of it is polished gilded copper. There are certainly enough items in the main courtyard to satisfy most historians for a whole day. Please be aware that leather clothing is not allowed inside.

Beautiful Buddhist temple hosts Shkyamuni in the main temple, check out the magnificent Vajra right in front of tge Buddha. When we went during the nepali new year period, busy praying crowds, and there are little mice running around checking out the food offerings in front of the Buddha, p.s. don't get surprised with the little mice, they are rather clean here, and they are considered rather important and scared here and in Hindu culture.

A historical, significant and remarkable temple, a scared Hindu temple located in Patan Durbar Square, Nepal. Dedicated to Lord Krishna,it is known for its intricate architecture, exquisite carvings and religious significance.

It is famous Hindu Temple of Nepal dedicated to Sri Krishna. It is also one of the prominent temples in the UNESCO heritage site of Patan Durbar square. It is multi floor & multi shrine temple. Its ground floor is Solid/Blind. It houses stone idols of Sri Krishna, Sri Rukmani & Sri Satyabhama in 1st floor. Similarly it houses Shiva Linga in 2nd floor & at present 3rd floor is vacant.  First floor wall features Vishnu's ten avatar's beautiful idols. It was construction in 1637 AD by Raja Siddhi Narsimha Malla. This Temple with beautiful 21 brass pinnacles is one of the finest examples of shikhara architecture. On the beams of ceiling Mahabharata 18 'parva' & Ramayana 7 'kanda'  have been carved with minute details. According to popular legend: The temple was built by Siddhinar Singh Malla to house the Shiva linga, but later the king dreamed of having an idol of Krishna. After that, Krishna idol was established below & Shiva linga  was established on above. According to popular belief  the entire temple was built with single stone alone. It is also believed that The king who built it attained immortality & believed the king will come from heaven here during the kartik naach period to see 'praja' (people). It is 'masterpiece' of stone art & the most attractive tourist spot of Kathmandu Valley.  The Napalese president visits this temple as per the tradition every year on the day of Krishna Ashtami. Krishna janamastami & one month long Kartik Naach(Drama) are main festivals related to this temple. Would definitely recommend this place to go with your kids. I went here after decades and I didn't find this place as I had imagined. Construction work was going on and I felt that nothing has improved in the last 10 years or so. But definitely a fun place to walk with kids, play games, enjoy on the park and boating is the most. There is not a good restaurant inside the zoo though. I wish this place was maintained more.

Had a great time on Centra Zoo Jawalakhel observing the diverse collection of animals. The zoo's commitment to conservation and education is evident, making it an informative and enjoyable experience. This place can be great for kids to watch animals and also there are games for kids.

The only zoo of Kathmandu and some say of Nepal also. There were quite a number of animals including Tigers, leopards, bears, rhinoceros, hippopotamus, elephant, some snakes, birds and monkeys. We went on a Saturday, which is a public holiday in Nepal, and the zoo was packed. There are few eateries inside where can have lunch or snacks. There is a small lake where people can do boating by a paddle boat. To avoid the line for entrance ticket, you can buy tickets online using their website or Khalti app. Rates are different for Nepalese citizens and other nationalities.

The one and only one zoo on Kathmandu valley. I would like to recommed visit with family and kids really nice place with peaceful environment. It is hard to believe that such a peaceful place within crowed environment of city. We can see different animals and birds.

A very nice zoo with lots of Asian animals. Fairly clean and there was an elephant who roamed around that you could touch and feed. Small free play area with swings and a teeter totter - also a larger paid area with rides we did not use.

This place is definitely the best in the country to observe different wildlife creatures. It has been managed so properly when it comes to cleanliness. You can easily get your ticket from the counter near the gate and the place is all yours to explore. They need to clean the aquarium more often though. Besides that, the place provides a close connection with nature with all the trees and wildlife available there. Do visit the central zoo, you won't feel bored exploring whether it's your 1st visit or 3rd.

What an amazing place to visit in this city . It's a place which is far from the crowd . Very peaceful and full of nature, flowers and animals . You can find very rare and extinct animals such as the Bengal tiger, bird, chimpanzee and so on. You can see a variety of bird, animal , and flowers here . You can go boating in the tal. It's perfect place to visit very refreshing and beautiful.

The place is beautifully amazing. Well maintained, clean and naturally gifted. Don't forget to sit by the lake and listen to the birds chirping. It feels heavenly. The animals cages look so restrictive and sad and the animals seem depressed though Other than that the Zoo is a must visit for everyone, they have a variety of animals, birds and reptiles. It's worthy of a visit.

1. We need a bigger zoo. In the country, only one zoo is so congested, and residential buildings are at the side. If students from two schools come then, we can Except for the horrendous situation there. 2. The entry fee is Rs 200, I don't know how practical it is for all people. (I am happy to pay that) 3. Infrastructure is the weakest among the Asian zoo. 4. Overall, animals are taken good care of. I hope, some other animal who was there before will also be kept.

This is a nice place to be for both adults and kids. The view of birds and animals are there along with games that will keep everyone occupied. In the middle of the hustle and bustle, you can even go to enjoy the quiet place beside a small lake. You can paddle boating as well.

Beautiful place to visit with family specially children. The zoo has wide verities of birds and animals. The special animals are: Tiger, chimpanzees, hippopotamus, snakes, vultures, bear and so on. You can enjoy boating there in a pond.

It was a nice outing with my family visiting this Zoo, so many types of animals and bird species available to see , especially it's good for young children to help them to recognise. not that much rush even on Sunday. It will take about 2-3 hrs with family to cover the entire zoo plus extra time for boating if you are planning for that to go. Entry fee is 500 NPR for Indian National, which we fill is more compared to facilities available to visit. And elephants are not always available to see, they have specific time to take bath and during that time you can see them.

It's good to experience wildlife. But there are fewer animals like tigers 🐅. They need to add more animals so that viewers can see more real-life animals.

I went inside the football fence ground , they had one small event going on about wildlife conservation. And got some cute nice souvenirs too.

Normally I don’t attend zoo as I don’t suppourt animals in captivity. However I read online about their conservation efforts and I think my obsession with tigers clouded my judgement. I immediately regretted my decision as I walked in and saw deer in 400 sq ft dirt enclosures. The elephant enclosure was particularly concerning as it’s tied to a pole. Some of the other habitats weren’t as bad and I can’t say I’m fully aware of their conservation efforts or education programs however they have animals from all over the world which means they’re not there to be rehabilitated. I do not recommend.

It was a very well maintained place and as a person from Nepal I found it very cheap for ticket 🎫 as well. You can see a variety of different exotic animals and I had a lot of fun in this place. I am only giving it four stars because I wanted to see a lion but I couldn't imao.

Lots of animals to see but hard to get a good view because of big chain link fences and barrier between path and fence sonhar to take photos. Conditions don't look very good for the animals dry enclosures with no greenery very dusty and not very appealing to look at. Food was nice.

Situated in the heart of the city it was so beautiful. Walking around to see and learn about each animal and not feel rushed was the perfect visit. All of the animals are healthy and in nice big enclosures.

This beautiful temple is on the Northern end of Patan Durbar Square

Dedicated to Bhimsen, the god of trade among the Newars - the historical inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley and the 8th largest ethnic group in Nepal. The monument is of uncertain age but was rebuilt in 1682 by Shrinivas Malla (r. 1661-85) following a fire. Later reconstructions took place in 1934, following the great earthquake, and again in 1967. Although the temple was significantly damaged (though not leveled) in the April 2015 earthquake, it reopened in early 2022 after a thoroughgoing reconstruction that retained much material from its pre-earthquake form. Like all Bhimsen temples, its ground floor plan is rectangular, with Bhimsen himself residing on the first floor (i.e., one floor above ground level). According to Michael Hutt, the temple is managed by the Kapali-Jogi, a Newar caste of Shaiva renouncers who perform services such as death rituals and religious music for community members. The shrine to Bhimsen, which they maintain, is strictly off-limits to foreigners, who are barred from entering the sanctum via its steep staircase (see image 62), but visitors are otherwise welcome to approach the building's exterior from all angles.

Dedicated to Bhimsen, the god of trade among the Newars - the historical inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley and the 8th largest ethnic group in Nepal. The monument is of uncertain age but was rebuilt in 1682 by Shrinivas Malla (r. 1661-85) following a fire. Later reconstructions took place in 1934, following the great earthquake, and again in 1967. Although the temple was significantly damaged (though not leveled) in the April 2015 earthquake, it reopened in early 2022 after a thoroughgoing reconstruction that retained much material from its pre-earthquake form. Like all Bhimsen temples, its ground floor plan is rectangular, with Bhimsen himself residing on the first floor (i.e., one floor above ground level). According to Michael Hutt, the temple is managed by the Kapali-Jogi, a Newar caste of Shaiva renouncers who perform services such as death rituals and religious music for community members. The shrine to Bhimsen, which they maintain, is strictly off-limits to foreigners, who are barred from entering the sanctum via its steep staircase (see image 62), but visitors are otherwise welcome to approach the building's exterior from all angles.

Amazing Place which is on world heritage too. Hardly suggesting you to visit this place. ❤️💜 Whether you are Nepalese or Foreigners, I hardly recommend this place. I usually don't like every place 😌 But this is something differ where you can get to another level of relief and peace with the ancient and the most beautiful construction I have ever seen. You may see there are a lot of pigeons which are the symbol of peace and many more beautiful sculptures 💜❤️

This was one of the few places I wanted to visit in the Kathmandu Valley. It took less than 30 minutes (~400 rupees) by taxi from the area near Hyatt Regency Kathmandu. I was pleasantly surprised that locals sit around in these historical buildings- a living monuments rather than the place just be observed and admired. Paid 1,000 rupees for museums, and I was not disappointed with the displays and narratives. So much to learn from them. I would definitely recommend for the first time visitors to Kathmandu.

And across the street is a very large market, reserve some time to walk through this also. Taxis are plentiful in the area.

Beautiful ancient palace complex, with a lot of temples around. You can still see the aftermath of the 2015 Nepal earthquake as they're still recovering some of the destroyed temples. It's nice just to walk around and hangout, admiring the intricate design on each temple. There are cafes, restaurants, shops, and money exchanges available in the area too.

When you seat at a five hundred years old Patan Darbar square built by our ancestors, where every thing you see or touch is a master piece just chiselled out from the hardest rock to the thickest and strongest wood we have ever known!!! It has always mesmerized me by its beauty and glorious period that our ancestor's has lived. I am blessed to be here and see feel the past glory and capture in my camera.....🙏🙏🙏

This is one of my favourite of the 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Similar to the other Durbars, there’s a palace, temples and shrines. The former palace is now converted into a museum that houses a large number of Buddha statues, drawings etc. There are several courtyards in the palace and the royal bath in one of the courtyard is an amazing piece of art. Fun fact for Marvel fans, this is one of the film location for Doctor Strange.

The palace has a much authentic feel to it, you can feel like you're going back in time when you take in the vibrancy of the place. There is a tour guide who can lead you throughout the place and deliver some outstanding information, all about the ethnicity of the location.

I just walked through it as the ticket booths to the buildings weren't easy to find, but to be honest I couldn't really figure out which buildings you could enter anyway since none had obvious entrances. The surrounding streets felt a little less touristic than Bhaktapur and Kathmandu darbars which was nice. There are cool streets around the square to shop for souvenirs and the people selling things weren't as pushy as in the other two durbars. Would definitely spend a couple of hours there if in Kathmandu.

Do spend time at the Patan Museum instead of just wondering around the square . Reason : 1) Keshav Narayan Chowk is, inside the Patan Museum. Keshav Narayan Temple is located at the center of this chowk and you can marvel at the skilled craftsman who made exquisite carving 2) The museum Unique Buddha statue of the 12th century who is wearing earrings as a Prince 3) A rare tantric manuscript is displayed inside the museum 4) Many other Buddhist and Hindhu deities are in well displayed cases The museum display is of international standards

It is very good but should be protected as it is our heritage site government should pay proper attention

Taleju bell or Big bell is installed north of chyasi deval (Octagonal Krishna Mandir). This bell is also called Taleju bell because it is installed in the vicinity of Taleju temple. Taleju was considered to be the family goddess or Kuldevi of the then Mall royal family. The big bell made from cast iron is hanging between two stout pillars & was placed by King Vishnu Malla in 1736 after the earlier bell donated in 1703 was moved to the Rato Machhindranath Temple. During that time, this bell used to be rung in order to signal incoming invaders, and to make royal and other important announcements. Another idea for its construction was that Petitioners (citizens) could ring the bell to alert the king to their grievances.

When the kings ruled over Nepal, grievances were not solved through a toll free, customer care number. Rather, it was solved with the Taleju Bell. Of course, there weren’t any phones back then so the rulers found out new, unique ways to hear their disciples. The bell, which is ancient and huge hangs between two stout pillars, providing access to be rung.

Taleju temple was built by Malla king Siddhi Narsingh Malla in 1640 and rebuilt by Srinivasa Malla in 1667 after a fire. Taleju Bhawani was the personal deity of the Malla kings. It is a five-storey temple with triple-roofs. It is only open in special occasion like in navaratri to call devotee for worship gods and enjoy jatras.

One of the biggest bell inside Patan Durbar Square, This bell is the sign of God Taleju who used to protect Durbar and it's area. Wish you Happy Visit 😊

You can see this Giant bell as you enter Patan Durbar Square. This is a giant ancient bell, hanging between two big pillars.

This giant 🛎 bell used to alert publics during emergencies like earthquakes and events to notify local people in the past. No one is allowed to go up there except in local events.

The Rato Macchindranath mandir is the spot where the deity of Machhindranath is kept for 6 months. After the completion of Rato Macchindranath jatra, the deity is brought to Bungmati. The temple is currently under renovations. How to reach: Take a bus of Bungmati from Lagankhel Buspark

Bungadyo also know as Rato Machhindranath is one of the most popular deity (God of Rain) in the Kathmandu Valley. It's temple in Bungamati was totally destroyed during the earthquake of 2072, the ongoing reconstruction work has been taking a very long time till now.

One of the four Macchendranath of the valley, also known as Karunamaye is a deity of the Newa Buddhism. The templ complex was however destroyed in the earthquake of 2015 and is undergoing Reconstruction. The air n the ambience here is just warm n embracing. The vicinity is surrounded by an ancient town with mostly wood engravers doing beautiful crafts.

The main temple was destroyed by the earthquake of 2015 and the reconstruction renovation work hasnot finished. Its right at the heart of local newari community so you can see the juxtaposition of the past and the present . Temple feels like it is embedded part of the community.

A Typical Newari town, Bungamati village tour will give you to experience a traditional Newari village located at 9 kilometers in the south of Kathmandu Valley. Bungmati is the farming village of Newars and it’s a living museum and recalls medieval times. After the 2015 Earthquake, things have changed and under constructions but it's worthy to visit this unique town.

Reminiscing ancient newari village is a gem. Such traditions and still kept intact also the scenery here due to farms still kept by locals is a treat to watch such close from the city. Also "Bunga" in newari means Fields for crops and farming.

Temple has already been destroyed and till now nobody seems to initiate the protection and the temple is in the verge of losing its distinctive features. However we can see some tourists still. The temple has great importance among the newars especially of the community around and nearby Karyabinayak.
