Ferry was not very clean and had an unpleasant bathroom like sewage smell. Of course this isn’t supposed to be a luxury ride, so expectations are that of taking any public transportation. Ferry was easy to get on and easy to get off. Being able to see up top was also very cool, even though we travelled at night.

From Galveston, we arrived around 11am on a Saturday and it only took about 15 minutes to board. Efficient staff. You can walk out of your car and go up to the deck to have nice views. Awesome service from the department of Transportation.

Walk on Only- ONE HOUR WAIT TIME. If you want to ride the Ferry for any reason other than business, walk on without your vehicle. The wait times are horrible. The website does not give a schedule because they can not. There are 5 lanes that are filled, and each lane is filled at to wait for the ferries. Then each lane boards until the ferry is full, so lane 5 waits an hour.

It is not a quick process. Much faster to drive around Galveston bay. Waited over an hour to get on the ferry. The ride is quick- 18 minutes. You can get out and see the water. Back in your car. Offload to the road in Bolivar. Wait in traffic for 2 hours to get on the interstate

The wait is very long yet I knew what we signed up for. Clean bathrooms and great looking spots. My children and I spotted many dolphins while is always fun to watched. Enjoyed seeing the seagulls ride in the boat air. 🚢 was confused why all staff had all faced fully covered etc. Yet idk maybe still company policy.

1st ever riding was on Sunday afternoon. Boy someone needs to warn tourists how long it can take. 2.5 hrs ▪︎When we finally got on, after the wait. I asked a man (Employee), how long it takes to get to other side. He joking said " ▪︎It was a 3 hour tour", sorry I missed the joke but my husband git it, lol. The employee did tell me where the handicap restroom was. ▪︎Front left corner of the ferry, Thank God, because boy this body could not have made it up those stairs, I would have been in trouble. At least the 2nd time we took it, a day later it was short & sweet.

Never again... if you think you are going to have a quick ferry ride to Galveston.. Think again... you most likely will wait HOURS in your parked car with angry people all around you... and I mean HOURS... just to get on the Ferry. Lunch becomes dinner and then you will be stressing the whole time knowing you have a long wait back. Galveston just isn't worth THIS fiasco of a badly managed port. They do not have enough ferries operating for this bologna. Also... Oh I dont know.. Once you are in line...you are stuck. They really should have a warning signs of what the wait times are way back on the road giving people the option of choosing NOT to go to Galveston if they don't want to sit in their car for hours.

They don’t have any calculations to how and how many vehicles should be send on a Ferry. Some lane goes through faster than others. I am wonder why !!!!

We saw dolphins 🐬 We went very early in the morning ☀️ so we didn’t have to wait for too to get in. It’s a quick trip Kid loves it!

They definitely need a better system. We waited for hours to get on while rows that just pulled up got on…and they were not the medical row. This summer we were here and on several occasions we waited for more than 3 hours to board each way. I realize it’s free but you should never have to wait this long. Not a pleasant experience!!!!

Super fun experience. Once the Ferry begins to move you can get out of your car and walk around. There are restrooms and an upper level you can walk around. We saw dolphins while crossing. The ferry is free by the way!

Yesterday was HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Arrived to the ferry area at 230pm!!!! Long long long long long long long LINE!!! Horrible! My girls had bad fit!!!!!! For hours really!!!! Finally got on ferry at 530pm, arrives Galveston ferry almost 6pm!!! SMH Never happen to me like this before. Always up to one hour most of time that I do understand!!! but over 4 hours?!?! Crazy!!!!! That is unacceptable!!!! , Pls fix that situation to make sure not happen again.

Totally forgot to review this place back in 2019 when I visited it, doing it now. Arrived at 1.00pm took nearly 2 hours of wait time, but wanted the kids to enjoy their ferry ride. Waited at the end kids had fun didn’t get down at the other end of beach just returned. Ferry ride is free of cost only if u hav patience to wait.

Galveston-Port Bolivar Ferry I can only give them 2stars why? Yes depending on season and time of day it can take you 2 to 3hours to get on this I understand. It years since I was back. Now it seems the people working at the crossing are private security however how can you take them serious. They dress / wear their work uniform sloppy. They sit and smoke they don't act seriousthey don't do a rofesional check people smore and use e-sigs the most embarrassing part. THEY DONT!!! check the bottom of vehicles because they only have one mirror and ITS BROKEN! and they have not bought them a new one, they really don't even check they need to bring back the gov security they started with way back. Can't give them a five star on this. However the view is beautiful

Definitely a must if you're visiting Galveston! Great jobs and novelty stores! Bars if you're into that sorta thing. It was all dressed up for Mardi Gras when we went. There is a huge variety of very unique items, but you do see a lot of cheap repeat touristy merch that you can find anywhere. My favorite places were: La King's Confectionery! Their malt shakes and ice cream are incredible, and you can actually watch them make candy in the back! The chocolates and fudge are also good, and there's a lot of novelty or vintage candies. A Charmed Life Jewelry had some really cool metal art that we ended up purchasing. I'm a huge dragon fan, and there are several cool dragon sculptures inside! Bunch'a Cool Stuff: had some hilarious shirts. Also, snap a picture of the giant word art! :D

Lots of interesting small shops. Many are typical tourist traps so pay attention to item quality. Parking can be a hassle so going mid-day during the week will help. It's all walkable but the street corners are NOT ADA so getting around will be difficult for the mobility impaired. Numerous places to eat in the area. All things considered, it's a decent place to burn a day.

I’ve lived in Texas for a few years now, this was my first time going to Moody Gardens and it was so fun! We ended up doing the membership. $100 for the value pass versus $165 for the annual pass (online there was a discount which made the annual passes about $140). The holiday lights were lovely but some of the faces were a bit odd/mangled looking on the characters. Otherwise 10/10 on those ice sculptures. Insanely beautiful and they provided parkas for visitors to use. Literally the most beautiful display of ice sculpting that I’ve ever seen. Fun mini train, slide and skating rink for kids. The rainforest was lush and stunning. So peaceful. The aquarium was playful and delightful. The critters were very active and the facility was a great environment. We didn’t make it to the discovery museum this visit but definitely add this to your list of to-dos!

No amount of photos can do this place justice. On my Galveston vacation, I constantly saw the three pyramids looming on the horizon across the bay and I just kept thinking "I don't care how much it costs, I am going to go there." Holy moly, it did cost quite a pretty penny, BUT it's an all day experience. The first pyramid housed land animals; lots of cool looking birds and a big colony of fruit bats. Some of the birds were allowed to free roam, so we sat and watched them for a while. It's absolutely gorgeous inside, with a walk through the "rainforest" that was visually impressive. The second pyramid was an aquarium, with just about everything you can think of. I was just amazed by how much they could fit in there. The third pyramid was the museum of sound. They had a bunch of different instruments and equipment demonstrating how sound waves travel. It was very interactive and we spent a lot of time in there. I do know there is a ferry ride they offer during the summer months, but it wasn't in operation when we were there. All in all, I felt I more than got my money's worth and I left feeling so grateful I decided to go!

The aquarium and rain forest are the best things to visit. All of the 4D movies were great fun. If you have small children, make sure to visit the Discovery museum. Our children are grown, but my husband and I still love to visit Moody Gardens. The buffet is also worth a visit. The food is always good.

This place is great! It's really good for young children but we enjoyed it as well. A lot of great educational things and amazing animals. The place is kept very clean and friendly staff. Glad we went while on our vacation from Colorado.

A must see amazing place. We did overnight camping with the scouts and had a tour of the aquarium. The aquarium is fantastic with diverse flora, fauna and aquatic creatures. We got to choose where we could sleep among three locations within the aquarium. The hosts were very great and provided an engaging and informative experience during the aquarium tour. 130$ for 2 adults and 2 kids under 12 for only the aquarium! It was about an hour

Fantastic place! The price was worth it. We used our military discount at the gate. It's worth buying the full pass, it pays for itself just by seeing 1 attraction. However, I think the museum needs more to see.

Took my family to this hotel this year. Unfortunately, the food hotel restaurant was completely was inedible, and there was only one microwave located in the laundry room near the parking garage. However, the views, pyramids and waterpark for 5 to 12-year-olds were great! It was also nice NOT having a theme in your face like other vacation resorts. We went early in the summer, so the new hires knew nothing about the place, but they tried their best, and I'm happy they had staff.

Moody gardens is definitely worth a look at for sure. I recommend to go at least once! Tons of things to look at and we'll maintained. We went during the week so it was pretty quiet which allowed us to take in everything at our own pace. We did the tickets that include everything even though I feel it's hard to enjoy everything in one day considering everything opens at 10am and closes at 4 pm. There's simply just too much to see and do.

A must visit place in Galveston, especially with children. Our daughter loved touring through the exhibits in all 3 pyramids. They were well done and enjoyable! We purchased all day passes in advance and it was worth it. We went on spring break and arrived right when they opened so it was easy to park and walk through. It was getting busier midday and afternoon, so I do recommend getting there earlier if your child really likes to take their time to look and see up close.

This was such a cool place! We did the zip line, rope course and went to the rainforest and aquarium! All neat places. The water part wasn't up for season yet, but we spent all day doing the other things. There were butterflies and beautiful flowers/plants at the steps and parking. The food court was nice with multiple options including a restaurant with buffet. I would definitely reccomend for families.

Our first time at Moody Gardens was incredible! We went during the week to avoid crowds and it definitely paid off. The different pyramids of exhibits are organized really well, our favorite was the rain forest! We got to see a sloth up close and stroll around looking at exotic birds and even walk with some! The aquarium part is so amazing, filled with knowledge about the gulf and the sea creatures that inhabit it.

Great stop if you are looking for something to do in Galveston island. Different attractions to explore. I purchased the value pack. The highlight of the experience was the rainforest and 3D movie 🍿 Africa. A bit pricey. However, the area is taken care of. Friendly staff. I went on a weekday and the environment was easy to navigate. Worth going.

Worth-it tier: A-. Visits: 1. Very cool. Rainforest pyramid alone was worth the visit. You get to see birds and monkeys roaming freely! Less people on weekdays, so an even better experience for me. However, boat ride was cancelled. Definitely recommend rainforest pyramid.

Our family's first time staying here as we usually stay at another chain where we earn and use our hotel points. However, I was attending an event at the conference center there, so we decided to try it. Upon check-in, we were greeted pleasantly. Front desk receptionists were polite and friendly. We got to our room to find it was handicap accessible so they layout was funky. We called front desk and they said we requested it and as I was the one who booked it I knew I had not....no problem they changed our room. We ended up in bigger room but upon arriving in the room we realized the floor hadn't been vacuumed. There were food crumbs, a drink bottle wrapper, and lint all over the floor. No biggie we kept our shoes on and dealt with it. We went on the balcony and peering back into the room there was a dead cockroach in the window sill. 🤢 You can tell the hotel is old but somewhat updated. During the night our AC unit went haywire and made horrific noises that awoke us. I barely got any sleep. I recorded some of the noise and at checkout I informed the front desk but she only replied she would have maintenance check it. No I'm sorry, no compensation. My 9 yr old complained all day from being tired. Very frustrating day dealing with an exhausted, unconsoleable child. That being said, the grounds are great, offers so much to do. We had a pizza and ice cream from their shop and it was excellent. Indoor pool was freezing, but outdoor pool offers a lot for the guests. great swim up pool bar. They are installing ice land for winter months. It looks very fun. We will consider going but not sure we will stay at the hotel again. For the price we paid, not a good room at all. Also, the room keys are paper, yet you need it to enter pool and get back in your room, not realistic at all. I don't think I've ever had a paper key before.

We had an amazing time here. We got the value pass, which gave us access to all 3 pyramids and a 3d movie and the 4d theater. We spent 4 hours here walking around enjoying everything they had to offer. Didn't have an interaction with monkeys in the rainforest pyramid, but that's didn't take away from all the other animals here. There was more for us to do, but we didn't have the time, we'll definitely come again.

My visit to Moody Gardens in Galveston was an absolute delight! Despite the slightly higher cost, the experience was worth every penny. Additionally, the paddle boat ride was a delightful tour of the area's stunning houses, adding another layer of charm to the experience.

This was a really great way to spend a day down in Galveston! So if you're like me and you really didn't have much idea of what you'd be getting into here, I'll explain. For starters, the value pass is the way to go. You get to experience everything, and that's what's important to know. There are 3 pyramids at Moody Gardens - one is an aquarium, one is a rain forest, and the last is the discovery center. With the value pass, you also get to see a movie in their 3D theater, their 4D theater, and get access to the ropes course and are able to take one of the two daily 45-minute cruises on their paddlewheel boat. The aquarium pyramid was our favorite! They have a large penguin enclosure with viewing access from many different points. The other various tanks and enclosures also have several viewing areas. The jellyfish room is fantastic as well! The rain forest pyramid is a little smaller but has a lot of live animals to see and is populated with trees and plants from all over the world. The discovery center was the weakest pyramid in our opinion; it has a museum on the second floor but it was underwhelming compared to the aquarium. Downstairs is a 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea 4D ride, which is included with the value pass, but didn't live up to our expectations. My biggest issue is that it sprayed way too much water on the audience, it really ruined the experience for us. Sadly, the wind was too high and the paddlewheel boat wasn't running. The ropes course was open, but my son isn't crazy about heights and neither am I, so we didn't take part in that. The food was OK but was pretty expensive. It's about what I expected - nothing special but certainly not bad either. Overall, the whole experience was great and we're glad we spent our day there!

Great visit during Spring Break. Rain forest and the aquarium are really cool. You really feel like you’re in a rain forest. Also don’t miss the tornado 3d film. Was really neat to see what strength a storm has.

I think people forget about Moody Gardens. The Aquarium was my favorite. Great exhibits, I felt like a kid again. The jellyfish aquariums were my favorite. It was awesome inspiring, and a great price as well. We bundled and went to the Atrium, it was hot but really nice, it was so warm a monkey sat by the exit door to get some air-conditioning lol. He was really cute.

Great attractions! One of the best in Galveston! Multiple 3D theaters; a 4D theater, Love the Rain Forest exhibit. The birds will walk all around you. All the exhibits are fantastic! There's a lot to do. You can set aside a whole day and still not see everything!

We were super excited about this place and it was pretty cool. We saw the rainforest which was probably the least underwhelming. We did t see many animals at all. Not sure if that's normal but we weren't there very long at all. We also saw the aquarium which was nice! We all enjoyed that. Next we saw Ice Land which was super cool and COLD! they do give you a parka, but being gloves and a hat or scarf. If you plan to go down the ice slide, you definitely need snow gloves! Lastly, we did the festival of lights which was definitely worth it. The kids enjoyed the slide! There were lights and concessions all over the place! It was a nice holiday outing for families

This park has a lot for kids to experience. Season passes are great because it's pretty expensive for the family to go once; it pays for itself after 2 uses. Each pyramid has tons for kids to look at and do. The staff are knowledgable and eager to explain to the kids. Best of all, it's not mindless entertainment for your kids. Everything has the kids thinking and learning new things.

This place was unknown to us. Our youngest daughter came across it while they were out exploring alone and it was well worth visiting. It seemed like a palace it was so cool on the outside and the history and architecture and marble fireplaces were so awesome to see. We went to several places this week while in Galveston and this was probably my favorite.

The Bishop's Palace is definetly worth seeing. The grandness of this place is amazing for back when it was built. The wood work is beautiful. The staircase is so neat and the big windows to let in sunlight. Each room has its own fireplace. So glad this place survived the hurricane of the early 1900's. This self guided tour is a definite go if you enjoy seeing historical sights.

Very interesting audio tour. It's $15 per adult $9 for children. 2 floors of the home are open for a self guided audio tour. Friendly staff and engaging facts about the home.

Quite an exquisite house to visit. It is mostly unfurnished as they only want to have pieces that belonged to the actual residents. You get an audio guide device which talks about the main rooms and gives some interesting information and otherwise you are on your own to tour. Allow about an hour.

This is a must see every time we are in Galveston. It has one of the best self-guided audio tours and is easy to use. Make sure to stop by the gift shop on the way out. Nice, clean restrooms.

The tickets were 15 for an adult and 12 for youth. A self-guided tour takes you through 12 rooms of this huge mention. It's quite fascinating to see this beautiful house with murals.

Good interior of the palace. One of the main attractions in Galveston. Fee is 15NZD. No parking. Just park by the roadside if any. Learn about the history of the father. Nice palace for picturess

History that continues on. Bishop house is amazing in details. The craftsmanship that was used in construction of this structure is absolutely beautiful. Stained glass windows are gorgeous. Suprising to see a walk in shower not sure when it was put in. The paintings were really nice. If you have the time it is worth the trip. Go slow and get your moneys worth.

This is a beautiful place to visit and learn the history of Galveston Island. I grew up close, and this was the first time I had ever been inside. The wife and I love visiting the historical places when we take a trip. This is a great place to visit, and you learn a lot and how it helped shape Galveston.

From what we saw in the gift shop, and on the patio this place is definitely very cool! We didn’t have the chance to do the tour this day but we will definitely be back to do the double tour of Bishop Palace and Moody Mansion. The grounds, patio and gift shop are good enough to peak your interest. The architecture is also exquisite!

We’ve been here twice and love it! I really like that the tour is at your own pace, so you can take time to admire or go back to certain things. We bought tickets in advance online, which cut our wait time down to nothing - we were also one of the first ones there which helped a ton too.

We arrived just as they opened for the day. So we had the place to roam by ourselves for a while. The guided tour system lets you go at your own pace. The staff are super friendly and informative. Truly amazing building. Also a huge selection of gifts in the gift shop.

Exquisite workmanship and art surviving many storms, self guided tour was lovely. We even got to see the butler areas with lifts- it’s a lot to manage a home with over 50 rooms! Architectural historians list the Bishop’s Palace as one of the most significant of Victorian residences in the country. Even the chapel was gorgeous with stained glass, carvings, sculptures, and paintings. We got the Package deal to see this and Moody Mansion, and well worth it! Gift shop was also amazing in the basement.

This place was amazing. Enjoyed the tour people are friendly. The shop is amazing even the teenager loved it. Definitely if you got to Galveston, you need to come here.

What a beautifully preserved piece of time. The house itself is exquisite and the self paced tour was wonderful. They give you a little audio device, you simply punch in the number of the room you are in and a narration is given on the history, whose room it was, what kind of wood is used, the various object found in the room, renovations , so much great knowledge is imparted which I found very interesting. In the basement is a great gift shop with postcards. Definitely check this out when you are in Galveston.

Great place to visit on a rainy day in Galveston. We were each given our own audio device to do the self guided tour and could take as much time as we wanted to admire the architecture. I wish we could have accessed the third floor, but that is saved for special tours. I hope they are able to raise the funds needed to make necessary improvements to preserve the estate!

This is an extravagant & gorgeous mansion. Directions were tricky to start but with the help of other visitors I found my way! The Gift Shop is amazing!

First time visiting one of the historic houses in Galveston. The Bishops Palace was interesting to hear the self guided tour description of architecture and the history of this house. Lots of interesting woodwork.

A fun and educational place for adults and kids. You'll be surprised that crude oil isn't just sitting. It's being manufactured by nature over 100's of years. Some of the rigs out at sea are standing on platforms as tall as the empire state building. The museum could use some updating (and a little marketing and programming would bring up attendance) but we enjoyed.

For those in the industry, a great educational tool to show your kids the biz. Surprisingly has a good amount of visitors. There’s 3 levels and a 15 minute video. Two outdoor levels to visit. Parking is $16 in adjacent lot. $2.25/hour on the street.

This is a must see museum! Make sure you pay $5 extra for the audio device. There aren't many people inside to ask questions. Very detailed and thoughtful laid out exhibit to explain how we get oil out of the ground. You get to see all the parts of the process. The scale models inside of all the platforms were amazing! It's 3 levels with steep stairs but they have added an elevator You get to go outside on top and feel what it's like to work on a rig.

It is a super interesting place. I had no idea of the technis and technology that the oil and gas industry came up with. I liked all the miniature models. The only thing is that the place actually smells like oil; by the end of the tour I was starting to feel kind of dizzy. Overall very interesting and informative.

A really educational and interesting museum! Three floors of information, a 15 minute video available to describe all procedures on oil and petroleum production and mainly the drilling, interactive features, real equipment to touch, audio descriptions of the museum, pictures of the real plant when in use years ago, self pace tour, highly recommended!

A small, interesting and educational museum, which provides insight into the oil drilling rigs. It has some mock-ups , video tutorials and charts to explain equipment , machinery used in the real world drilling and oil mining. It is a quick tour museum which is nice to experience place for people interested in oceans, mining and huge machinery. This place provides information about the past, evolution of the process, time and complexity involved in it. Don’t expect too much, rather a quick exposure to the above mentioned.

Retired oil rig was very interesting. Is ADA accessible and has an elevator for multiple floors. Reasonable price for admission. Various nearby parking lots to look for a space but was expensive to park (about 23 dollars. Two blocks away from the Strand. Educational.

The good: Very informative . Good info on oil offshore business. Loved all the videos and miniatures. If you are disabled there is a working elevator so that was definitely a plus. The bad: Unfortunately the birds had gotten to the outside of the facility and very gross. Muggy on the inside and stinks.

This decommissioned jack up rig is a converted museum offering a replete look at the world of offshore drilling. If you may try to read every bit of information allow for several hours, but even a few minutes spent there and you will come away having learned something. All the displays are quite informative and detailed. Speaking of info... the nearby parking is not cheap if you use the adjacent lots.

We had a good time exploring the museum. It has 3 air conditioned levels with many educational exhibits, and some interesting outside exhibits. You can also see the Battleship Texas in drydock from the rig.

I give it a 4 because I was bored out of my gourd however my husband enjoyed it a lot. I think I would go there again depending upon who I was with. If they would enjoy it I would be OK with returning. There actually were some interesting things there just too much for me

The Ocean Star is retired jack-up drilling rig that operated in the Gulf of Mexico from 1969 to 1984 and drilled over 200 wells during that timeframe. In 1995, the OEC purchased the Ocean Star, and after lengthy refurbishment, opened it as a museum in 1997. The museum is designed to be a self-guided facility with videos, information, interactive exhibits throughout, and takes most visitors about 1.5 hours to tour completely. I visited this Museum with my family. it is a small museum for the number of activities happening in the offshore oil industry, but a very good insight for those who are not familiar with the Operations of Offshore Oil exploration, drilling and production. Having worked in the industry for long, I could really appreciate the scaled models, true in shape to the real versions, covering almost all the major areas. A good opportunity to see what is happening, which people get no chance to know or visit being offshore or mostly under water. It is also a chance to visit an actual drilling rig as the whole facility is located on it, A must see for those new entrants in this area of work. I understand that the Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig Museum is available for weddings, corporate conferences, luncheons, dinners, and family reunions. Overnight Camp is also offered on the fourth Friday or fourth Saturday of each month for groups of 17 or more.

Good museum. Fun for me given my 37 years in the industry working for Schlumberger. One of my old coworker friends is in one of the video presentations 😀

José and Gabe are great tour guides for the rig museum. They have a lot of knowledge and do a great job explaining the information. The views from the top are pretty cool. We highly recommend a visit.

Visiting the Houston Texas area with refineries everywhere, we wanted to learn more about the oil industry. Overall, we enjoyed a visit to Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig. Pros: Museum is a small, 3 story drilling platform anchored in Galveston port, close to the cruise terminal. The museum only charges a small fee and staff was very friendly. Visitors can easily get a basic understanding about the history and mechanics of oil drilling in about an hour. Actual equipment is displayed, and there is an introductory movie. From the gangway leading up to the museum and the outside areas, visitors have a beautiful view of the passing sightseeing and fishing boats and a large number of pelicans sitting on the nearby rocks. When we visited, there was plenty of cheap street parking close by. Cons: There is a large amount of reading throughout the museum, and it could be tedious. If I went back, I would probably spend the extra money for the audio guide. The air conditioning is really loud. Why do I care? When the air came on, it became really difficult to hear the video clips playing throughout the museum unless you are standing super close. The museum feels a little dated and in my opinion, the large gallery of famous Texas oil men and innovators was somewhat strange to me. Naturally, the display puts a very positive spin on the environmental impact of drilling. Overall, I would be recommend for anyone with an interest in science.

Very well-done display of the Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig. Three floors of information, both inside and out. It was better than we expected...thank you for making it a wonderful experience!

I don’t know where to start, even though a piece of the park was closed and some rides were on off through out the day. I loved every minute! Bought the pass to skip the line and I’d do it again. The rides were so much fun! Clean and so spacious to enjoy with family and friends. Highly recommend!

We’re season ticket holders so we like Schlitterbaun. There are lots of slides. Everything feels like it’s within walking distance. The downside of going on Labor Day Weekend is that some attractions are closed and same thing goes for the refreshment drink areas. The water is cool and refreshing.

We visited Shlitterbahn on Easter Sunday. I was nervous after reading reviews about 2+ hour long waits, but we had a nice time. I feel like this might be a place to visit in the off-season, because we didn't wait longer than 10 minutes for anything. That said, at least half the park was closed, and while the tickets were discounted ($44 each), it still seemed pricey for what was open. My 15 and 12 year old really enjoyed the big waterslides, but found there wasn't enough to keep them entertained for more than a few hours. Our whole family thought the torrent river was the best "lazy" river we have ever done. The surprise wave generator was super entertaining. We went around 3 times. We didn't have a hard time at all with finding a place to set up for the day and the lockers have an all-day option for valuables. It's a small enough park, that even if it were all open, getting to lockers wouldn't have been a burden. The food was reasonably priced and not bad, for amusement park food.

Schlitterbahn Galveston was a great experience for us. We went on a Friday as soon as they opened. We waited in lines to get in but not long. We rented a locker and went straight for the rides to avoid long lines. Again, there were lines but not terrible. We enjoyed the different lazy rivers once we rode all the rides. As the day went on we did notice some lines were very long (like massiv) so- get there early and go to those first! I liked being able to bring in a cooler- that’s a major plus! They did make people pour out water from their reusable water bottles in security- just a heads up. We did not have to pour out our regular water bottles, though. The park was clean and well maintained. Only one ride was closed and thankfully it was one we did not want to ride anyways. Overall, we had a great time and will be back!!

Fun place! The lazy river system is awesome! You can bring a cooler with your own beverages and food. No alcohol. Food portions if you order there are large. We went on a Wednesday and lines were not bad at all.

While Schlitterbahn Galveston is a worthy destination, I can only convey four stars here as on a major holiday one of the main newer attractions was fully closed and often the wave pool is not active. I understand the potential complications supporting such a venue, but if you are selling $80 daily tickets and only offering 80% of the functioning park that is a problem. Food options (and you can bring your own in as well) and parking are great and park service and friendliness are superior. There are ample shaded seating and chairs available Having said that if you are in the area, a season pass is definitely the way to minimize overall cost and with that option you can take advantage of access to the original New Braunfels TX Schlitterbahn area as well.

Update: 7/28-Complete bomb!🤬🤬🤬🤬 EVERYTHING WAS BLOCKED, STANDS CLOSED AND THE CONVEYOR BELT STILL DOWN- BEEN DOWN FOR ALMOST A MONTH NOW!? AS PACKED AS THIS PLACE WAS HAVING ONLY CERTAIN POINTS OF ENTRY IS SO STUPID! WILL BE REQUESTING A DISCOUNT! Loved it! Had such a great day, got there early and stayed until closing, which was all great, some yucky stuff in the water here and there! Only drawback was my sister forgot a pair of sunglasses on the table with our cooler and with in seconds they were stolen! Will post more pics, got season passes!😍 ⛔ 2nd visit-was a disappointment! No lazy river movement, no waves, no conveyor belt and the water was pretty dirty, dead frogs and lots of grass and trash! We left before 2 cause it was awful!

overall a good experience. however one simple rule causes massive problems. they allow guests to bring intertwines between rides. every other park i’ve been to, when you leave the water you leave your tube. however here.. you are allowed to drag your tube between rides resulting it tube hogging, frustration ans people jams. not to mention tubes everywhere. it’s so bad they have even burnt instructions (which people ignore) into the picnic table. in my photo the people in line have collected those tubes from a different ride. they have sufficient staff so just do what all other parks do ans stop the frustration! also they have a very lie ant policy on bringing your own food. theirs is good but at $5 for water - bring your own have fun and fight for tubes

They don't let you stand at surf. The best attractions were closed (a sick water slide where you even go up and a fast river); people with fast pass get to use the equipment multiple times before you even have the chance to ⏩ There was a person who passed 4 times before me while I waited on the line. You can bring your own drinks (no alcohol) and food...no ice iirc!

Got season pass and meal plan season pass. Was misinformed by guest services about what was included in meal plan. It did not include drinks. Was very disappointed with their service. Fun place to take family, however was very crowded. Lazy river conveyor belt was a hot mess. Food was limited when it came to season pass and it took 30 minutes to get a burger combo.

I’m dissatisfied with the visit. Half of the park wasn’t opened. The 3.5’ lazy pool is ok. You can stay in the pool as long as you like. It gets boring. The best slide would be the one that requires a purple mat with two front handles. Boogie Bahn surfing board was fun. Goodluck trying to stay on the board for 5 seconds. Also those young teenagers who clearly been surfing their whole life kept hogging the line. 1 min should be max for this surfing. Online Daily ticket $34.99 + $3.99 process fees + $2.89 tax. = $41.87.

We had a great experience out here. For a Labor Day Weekend, the process was smooth, and we were tended to well. Our 22q Kiddo had an amazing time and the kid pools were awesome...we had an AMAZING day!!!

Wow!!! The lazy river was by far the best I've ever experienced. The food was great, our cabana was perfect and the water Temps were just right. Can't wait to visit again.

It was fun and hot. I would highly recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks. Everything was overpriced to me but it was to be expected since it's a known water park. Bring your own towels and flip flops or water shoes. If you have little kids bring them a towel and plenty of drinks especially water and sunscreen.

Lots of cool DayCor to choose from here. Unusual, cool items at fairly reasonable prices. We have snared a nice selection of slag glass from them for some of our projects. The staff are cool and helpful. It's easy to get to and parking has never been a problem. Photos are of the slag glass fountain I built as a result of our acquisitions.

Visiting Dallas you can't miss the opportunity to visit this unique place, you will love to see the art pieces in their backyard.

I like their style of home decor VERY MUCH, but I wish they would update their website more often, and have their real inventory (not sold items, those are for instagram past tense) with measurements so we can make quicker decisions and purchase what we want for the space that we have.

What a place! Absolutely gorgeous home and it is huge! They have 3 old cars that you can view that I think the family still owns. The rooms are kept preserved and very clean it really feels like your walking around in the 1900’s. There are lots of little funny cards that tell you not to touch things and it’s hilarious. There is a beautiful stained glass window on the main staircase very pretty and lots of art to look at too. 1000/10

Wow! Absolutely beautiful. The downstairs rooms each have ornate ceilings, different textures on the walls: wood, fabric, wallpaper. To access the audio tour, you scan the QR code when you purchase your tickets. It is worth using the audio tour to learn about each room and more about the Moody family,

Great for history lovers. It's a beautiful house and has a variety of tour options, including self-guided, which is what I prefer. When you buy your tickets, they give you a QR to scan for an audio guide, then you just explore the first and second floor of the house on your own. It's really nice. You get to take your time, which was really good for our group of mixed language speakers. They have guided tours as well, if that's more your thing. I think the guided tours open up the third floor, as well. It's a 10 minute drive from the ferry, and right next to Downtown, so I def recommend dropping by. It's extra pretty during Christmas.

This place is an awesome old fine southern home. Beautiful woodwork throughout is all hand made. They give you the option of a self guided tour or listening to a guided tour you download to your phone. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting this gorgeous beachside home

When in Galveston, you really need to see the historic homes. Minimum drive around East End! Moody Mansion is phenomenal, especially considering the time period in which it was built. We had some helpful docents along the way. We did the self-guided tour you can listen to on your phone, but sometimes you interrupt other people/groups who are also listening. They have hilarious notes everywhere so keep your eyes peeled.

Loved the friendly greeter and the self guided tour. The Home is perfectly captured in history and they encourage all aspects of learning the story of early Galveston. The curator's sense of humor is a nice addition too. 😊

Moody Mansion is a great place! We have always wanted to tour an historic house and we finally did it! The details provided by the workers and signs posted along the house were extremely informative and showed us how things worked and how these people lived! I would highly recommend touring while on the Island, you won’t regret it!!

Beautiful mansion, appreciated the ability to see so much of the home. The person who greeted us was very kind. We enjoyed the history, especially the contents of one of the cabinets in the bathroom. Speaking of, we've never seen toilets like this before. Definitely worth a stop!

Our first time visiting as a family and we were amazed at the beautiful mansion and the detailed design. Glad we took the audio tour and learned a lot about Moody family history. Amazing. Felt like walking into a different time.

Knowledgeable staff answered all our questions. The self guided tour was very informative and easy to use. All you had to do was scan the QR code, open the link, and play the recording number that matched the number of the room you were in. Very nice historic home.

What is really nice about the tour in this house is how authentic it is. You can pull up an audio tour on your phone and get a detailed story in each room. There's a lot of history about the family that lived here plus clothing and other items to see.

I would recommend seeing this 1st if you like me had never heard of the moody family. Take your time in the garage sit and listen to this beautiful love story. You will see why they were so successful. Look at the funny notes in the house asking you not to touch items. Lol, too funny!! Special tour on the 3rd floors we did not get to see. Property is well maintained and rich with history. Loved this tour. Highly recommend.

We have been to Galveston Texas multiple times and have never visited Moody Mansion located at 2618 Broadway Avenue J, Galveston Texas. The place is immaculate and it's free. Once we arrived we went into this section where the were multiple old cars. Really cool. Once we left there we walked around the garden which was absolutely beautiful. Once we walked to the front door a nice young lady gave us some history about the mansion. When she was finished we were allowed to tour and enter all the bedrooms, bathrooms etc. Everything was original and not redone. The clothes the hats and jewelry display were fabulous. There was so much to see we will be going back. If you're in Galveston Texas and have the time. Check out Moody Mansion located at 2618 Broadway Avenue J. You will not be disappointed.

Gorgeous Victorian architecture and history! Italian marble fireplaces, gilded mirrors and hand painted ceilings, exquisitely crafted woodwork and metal lost to time. The self guided audio tour allowed us to explore freely and enjoy all the details and family stories of this treasure. It starts in the garage with a collection of cars. We enjoyed the “extra info” from the knowledgeable hostesses. Thank you for a fun time geeking out in this lovely home!

Amazing experience, we got to learn a lot about history. It's worth checking it out. We got to see a submarine for from inside. There are many artifacts from the war. My daughter got to learn a lot. It was fascinate to learn that the ship was built in 7 days. There are more facts that you will get to learn. Make sure to check the weather before going to the museum because if its lightning they will shut down due to safety reasons so make sure it's not going to thunder or lightning. The park is also good make sure to carry your food because you will find nothing there is no food. The place is very serene and you will enjoy the wind. If you are a fishing enthusiast then you will enjoy the pier.

This was a neat adventure. We were able to completely explore an entire submarine and naval ship, and they are outfitted like they were when they were in use. It was like a step back in time. It took about an hour to see it all, but you could easily stay longer, reading everything. I highly recommend visiting.

Our Scout troop spent the night on the ship this past weekend. The experience was excellent. The staff were very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. They gave great private tours of the ship and submarine Saturday night, and the kitchen area for cooking was large and very well stocked. The Scouts had no problem cooking their meals, and we were able to watch the movie Greyhound as well. Sleeping on the ship bunks was an interesting experience as well. I would highly recommend the overnight program to Scout groups or groups of youth who have an interest in history. Thanks to the Galveston Naval Museum for your hospitality and making this weekend a great experience for our youth and adults.

You can buy the tickets as you go in. Great experience. The guys had amazing knowledge. Very welcoming and just a fun experience. Watch how where you put your hands haha I caught my nail on it and didn't know til the end of the self guided tour. Definitely will go again when I conquer my fears of being in tight spaces.

Wonderful experience. A little pricey but very interesting, especially if you have family visiting who may have served in the military. You're free to explore both WWII era ships. Catching a tour with a docent is a great idea as well.

If you have an afternoon and you want to explore US naval history from WWII, I highly recommend taking a look at these museum ships! The sub is in excellent restored condition, with the destroyer under restoration currently. Both are relatively easy to walk through during your self guided tour, and both offer a ton of information on the signs located around the ships.

Had a blast, $38 for 2 adults 1 kid. Went in the ship, able to walk in and experience first hand the ship structure and rooms. Also went inside the submarine, and it was so cool! Luxury l portable restrooms, super clean and vending machines on the entrance. The park also allows for fishing and picnics, would totally recommend and go back!

Fun museum. There are two "ships" you can walk through, one is a submarine. It was very interesting and a good family afternoon well spent. They have a lot of history and are very well preserved. I recommend it if you are in the galveston area and have some time to kill.

We were able to walk through a Destroyer Escort and Submarine. Both were well documented. It is a bit out of the way but worth it. Plus the park around it was a nice place to watch ships and birds. Fishing is also an option.

Love visiting the destroyer (DE-238) and submarine (SSK-244) built for WWII. The submarine was basically the iPhone of its era: minimalistic on the outside, complicated in the inside, fully functional as intended, and good at what it does. The mechanical designs should remind people how far our technology has progressed in the past century. It's easier to appreciate what is new when we can see and touch what was old (but nonetheless brilliant).

This was an amazing experience. We loved walking around the destroyer and submarine, and I am glad we brought our kids too. We had to carry them at a couple points at stairs on the ships, but for under 5 it was pretty accessible (and easier for them in tight quarters in places), and they had a blast. It’s something they’ll definitely remember. Please think about taking your family to see the history, walk around the ships, and remember those lost as well. Bonus: fishing off the pier and a nice park for kids if everyone isn’t into the WW2 history. Bottom line: get off the beaten path in Galveston and check it out! It was well worth the cost of admission to the museum/ships and $6 parking.

Interesting naval museum with a ship and a submarine built and commissioned in the 40s. Reasonably priced, between $10-15 for adults. Should take about 1-2 hours to look at both the ship and the submarine and the surrounding park. May be an exciting visit for young kids as well. Both vessels have a number of items labeled, as it is a self guided tour. Plenty of opportunities for photographs, particularly on the two ends where you can pose with the arms that protect the ships. Would recommend coming earlier in the day during the summer as it’s both hot and humid. Lots of stairs, so would recommend that seniors take care. The submarine had tight entryways in certain locations, so would take care there, too. Both exhibits give a good preview of what life would have been like on either vessel. Would definitely recommend this museum for a quick stop if you’re visiting Galveston!

Nice smallish museum with both a submarine and Destroyer from WW2 which survived the conflict. You can walk through both vessels ro see what life was like on board and there are some staff around to relate stories and history of the vessels. The car park is an additional $10 but you can park all day and there is a park and recreation area next to museum so possible to male a day of it.

This museum is sort of a hidden gem on the tip of the island. The ship and submarine walkthrough are really fantastic with good information and lots of stuff to touch and get closer to than a normal museum allows. Prices are pretty good, too.

I'm fascinated by everything WW2, so my review might be a little biased. There are two vessels to explore. The submarine and ship and it's fun to walk through. That's essentially the extent of the visit though. I think it's worth going to at least once!

The tour includes the Submarine & the Battleship. It was a great experience! The submarine is very tight and some walkways are small so be aware of this when going on! The ladders on the ship are steep but very accessible if you take your time! The tour is self guided and self placed also! Enjoy!

Don't miss a chance to visit Zeke the awesome Turtle About Town Sea Turtle Statue while you are here. In our opinion, one of the most awesome of the sea turtle collections. Very cool piece of history. It has a historic boat and a sub as well as a sail from another sub, so lot of steps and ladders that are steep, but they added in some benches which is great for folks that need to sit. My opinion is that military veterans should not be charged to visit. They do offer a small discount, but you can get the same discount or better buying the tickets online. It feels a bit cheeky that they are charging Veterans at all.

What an amazing experience, the staff is extremely knowledgeable.They actually have a volunteer program.We'll get to sleep in one of the ships for a week while you work on the ship.It's pretty awesome, highly recommended worth the money. AMAZING!!!! Let's get the ships back up and running

We have been here twice with our kids and they really enjoying getting to explore and boat and the submarine. It is completely self guided which I like. There are areas inside that have voice boxes that play recordings of parts so you can learn about a certain exhibit. I gave it 4 stars for a couple reasons while my family enjoys the museum I think paying to park on top of admission is kind of ridiculous. We were at SeaWolf Park 4 months ago which is in the same parking lot and paid $6 to park but when we went this last time it was $10. I’m not sure if pricing goes down in the summer or if they charge based on if you’re going to the park or the naval museum but either way I find it ridiculous. It cost us $56 to get into the naval museum and which wouldn’t be so bad if they were accommodations like a little food/drink stand or something. I know the ship and submarine are old but I think they could do better at taking care of the rust and preservation. With the amount of rust on the ship when walking I would let be surprised if they had to block off sections for safety when the rust starts eating holes through where people are walking. Overall, my kids love it, we enjoy it and we will definitely be back again, but I think they could improve their maintenance and stop charging to park in a parking lot that’s connected to a park.

The submarine is incredible (especially if you are small and like watching your tall friends suffer) with tons of interesting historical details sprinkled throughout. They also have a very well-done "women of WWII" exhibit in the seaport. The battleship is meh. Many sections are not accessible to the standard visitor and there are no arrows or general guidance on the ship, so I was constantly worried I would miss a section. Nonetheless, the submarine and the historical displays around the seaport more than make up for the ship's shortfalls.

We did the combination Harbor Tour, Tall Ship Elissa and Museum. Harbor tour was OK- we did see a few dolphins, Seawolf Park, the shipwreck and the new Royal Caribbean cruise port that is under construction. We were less than impressed with Sarah- who was the narrating guide as she gave inaccurate Info about cruises - called 'symphony' a class of ships - it is the name of a cruise ship, not a class. Also reported the cruises are running 20 - 25% occupancy - not true - most are now up to 60- 70%. Sarah was also unaware that Liberty of the Seas is leaving Galveston in November, Allure of the Seas, Disney and Norwegian are arriving in Galveston in November. She further went on to give her opinion about why she would not ever do a cruise - seems to us that Sarah should not be giving personal opinions, but should be more knowledgeable about her town and supporting other businesses. The Tall Ship Elissa is very interesting to tour - they have plaques to read or can do an audio tour. Beautiful Ship that makes me appreciate modern day ships!!

Grossly underwhelming, a bunch of expensive concession shops masquerading as a tall ships exhibition(beer $4, curly fries 6.75$ per serving). The ships were fairly paltry. Not worth the $20 that I paid for entry. I would rather take a harbor cruise, preferably a sunset cruise where you can combine it with seeing the tall ships(only from outside), dolphins and the glorious sunset of Galveston. I once attended a tall ships exhibition in Boston for $20, but there were 40 such ships to view at the time(if I am not mistaken). Those ships were much more ornate, larger and better than these. Sorry guys, spend your time wisely.

My recent visit to the Galveston Historic Seaport was a memorable experience, highlighted by a six-hour sail on the magnificent 1877 Tallship Elissa. Having previously toured the museum and explored the ship while it was docked at the marina during a visit last November, I couldn't resist the opportunity to embark on this sailing adventure. The museum and ship tour provided a captivating glimpse into maritime history, with exhibits showcasing the rich seafaring heritage of Galveston. Revisiting the ship prior to the sail reignited my fascination with its storied past and impressive craftsmanship. Setting sail on the Elissa was an absolute delight. As a first-time sailor, I was filled with anticipation and excitement, and the experience surpassed all my expectations. The six-hour journey offered ample time to immerse myself in the beauty of the Gulf waters and appreciate the intricate workings of this historic vessel. The crew's expertise and hospitality added to the enjoyment of the sail, as they shared their knowledge of the ship and sailing techniques with enthusiasm. It was a privilege to be part of such a unique and unforgettable experience, sailing aboard a piece of living history. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have participated in this sailing excursion and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Galveston. The Galveston Historic Seaport and the 1877 Tallship Elissa offer an exceptional blend of maritime history and adventure that is not to be missed.

Very interesting place. For $10 you can walk around and explore a ship made in the late 1800s, what a time! It was fun to see the contrast between the Alissa and the giant Carnival cruise ships a few hundred yards away.

Great tour of the harbor. We like to find new things to do each time we visit Galveston and this was a great find! Very informative and entertaining, and supports the history and heritage that makes Galveston special.

Great place to see Dolphins in Galveston. Great tour guide helped us to look around all the places with good amounts of time. Also, asked if any questions that we do have. Their boat has two deck vs other has one deck boat. We ended dolphin from seagull vessel on memorial long weekend. You were allowed to free around in boat & bring your drinks as well. People were polite & nice.

The wife and I visited the Elissa Sailing ship at Pier 21, the Battleship Texas, who was being repaired across the channel, which was great to see. We did the Ship to Shore experience, which explains how immigrants came to Texas in the 1800s and what the voyage was like for them. Then we toured the Elissa is is awesome and very small. Well worth it

Highly recommend booking the harbor tour and dolphin watch with this company! I felt like we got to see things that the other dolphin watch companies would not show you. The price includes the self guided tour on 1877 ELISSA. The harbor tour guides were very thorough in explaining all the sites and very kind. We had a great time. We saw lots of dolphins!

It’s a cool tour to better understand the size of a masted ship from the late 1800s and what it might be like to live on that ship. We easily spent about 1 hour here with our kids. There are some very narrow and steep stairways that may make it difficult for some go go below deck. There are handrails on the stairs.

We visited the Galveston Historic Seaport to take a tour of the harbor and tour the Elissa. While on the harbor tour, we got to see many of the local fishing boats as well as some of the local dolphins. The tour culminated with a self guided tour of the Elissa. This is a magnificent ship that has withstood the test of time and is very well maintained. When you visit, plan on spending about an hour on the harbor tour and another hour on the tall ship and gift shop.

Went with the family to do this tour to learn the history of Galveston. It was really good and the tour guy was very knowledgeable. The dolphins 🐬 were definitely super awesome to see.

Pretty great tour, friendly staff. I got to see a few dolphins on their dolphin watch boat/harbor tour, but the actual sailboat ELISSA wasn't there. They have a nice museum about Galveston and its history.

We enjoyed a self-guided tour of the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa, both on-deck and below deck. She is a beautiful ship that also leaves port for tours. We followed this with a tour of the Immigration Experience, which was a wonderfully thought out and displayed interactive museum. We highly recommend both, plus pricing is reasonable. There is also a very nice gift shop with books, trinkets, and treasures for everyone.

Had a great time with my family touring the harbor, learning some history about the area, and viewing dolphins. Well worth the price. Our captain and his first mate, Loren and Jason were funny and fantastic and even let my granddaughter drive the boat for a short time.

Pretty cool place to see an old ship and get history information. There are also tours, such as dolphin tours, you can buy.

Very nice museum with a nice train station building and plenty of railroad engines and cars to see. It was a very hot day but some of the cars are air conditioned so you can cool off a bit before continuing your visit. I spent about and hour and 15 minutes to see it all. It is not expensive and well worth a visit.

Lots of trains to explore, covers history, routes, technology, artwork, uses, famous persons. Many train cars to walk through - dining, coach, first class (some are air conditioned). Train station was nice with posed statues, phone booths. Train simulator fun with realistic graphics and controls. Can ride the caboose for 20 min (need to buy additional tickets) would recommend when the weather is nice.

We visited here during our trip. There were waaay more trains then we were expecting. The staff were super friendly. So much to see and so much history to learn. They had dinner sets and memorabilia from the different trains, they had interactive areas with buttons to push to make lights flash and telephones to listen to bits of history. Of course the favorite parts were exploring the old trains themselves. While we wish they had all the trains open and available, it was plenty to keep us busy for several hours of adventure.

If you love trains, this is a must see. Trains from many eras and it was interesting to see the inside of a mail car and imagine picking up the bags from stops along the way and the sorting that went on in the car itself. The passenger cars reminded us of the train trip we took to Mexico in 1980 along with the diner car. Displays of Harvey House dishes from that time of travel. Veterans are free, but reasonable admission. The only thing that would've been better is if it hadn't been raining.

We had a great time checking out the railroad museum today! Definitely recommend as a nice day activity. Our daughter and her friend loved getting to go through the train cars. Staff was friendly. Fun little activity for kids & adults & great museum!

Wow. This place is awesome, and the staff are polite and informative. There is so much to see here that you can't see it all in one day. You must make a return visit. Cost for 1 adult and 1 child under 5 $16 gen. Admission Cost for 1 adult and 1 child under 5 $16 train ride.

If you love trains, this is the museum for you. You can tour different rail cars, and the museum. The train cars were air conditioned which made it nice on a hot day. Lots of information on the history of the trains in Galveston.

Very Neat! I loved the statues of old times passengers in the lobby 🚂 I'm so glad this was preserved! There's an exhibit right now about the Orphan Trains; and old train cars outside on the lot. 🛤️ Some of the exhibits are interactive; and the gift shop has an interesting selection of books on Galveston History. 🐚 Absolutely worth a visit 🚉

Steampunk Festival was held here. Second year of an awesome event . Many activities. Live music . Tea time held on the northern lights train . Can’t wait until next years festival. I will definitely be in attendance.

A hidden gem on Galveston Island. Many rail cars that were used throughout history are here to check out. Fun for kids and adults, conveniently located in the strand and also by cruise terminal. Worth the visit!! Thanks to Mary Moody for establishing this museum many years ago.

Great place to learn about trains. Has a lot more passenger cars open than other train museums I have been to. Would be cool if they had a few more engines available to look through, but won't hold that against them.

This wasn't as lovely as I was expecting, but it was a nice time. The woman selling tickets seemed less than enthused. There is currently an exhibit on the Orphan Train, which was really interesting. Once of the best parts, in our opinion was the exhibit on the USS Texas. The trains that were outside left me confused. Most areas were roped off and we couldn't enter, but a few were open, so we hopped on. We were completely alone and it was quite eerie. We hopped off shortly after. It seemed as if we weren't supposed to be on there, but I have no idea. The cat was 10/10 and clearly lived there as we later saw his food bowl closer to the building. Probably don't need to go back, but if you're in the area, give it a look. **extra 3.5% fee for using a cc

This was a rather interesting experience. I wasn’t aware there is an app you could listen to as you go through the cars. It would have been nice to know more about the cars…age,details,etc. Very cool to see the different cars. We rode the train. It was cool to see inside caboose and ride in it. The layout of the museum was a little tricky. I think we missed some areas. Loved the lobby. Feels like you step back in time. Snack place was nice to grab something cold to drink. Kid friendly. If you have a military ID you get in free.

Had a great time with my brother and his sons, 2 and 8. Everyone enjoyed the exhibits, seeing inside the old passenger cars, climbing on the old steam engines, and the train simulator. We took the short train ride, which is a caboose pulled by an 80-ton switcher, and that was a lot of fun. The conductor pointed out some interesting things along the ride as well. The museum buildings are fully open and give a great glimpse into the history of the local railroad. We took a tour with a wonderful docent who also happened to be the museum's archivist and historian. She included lots of details about the buildings architecture, the history of some of the passenger cars, and the resident ghosts of the museum, too! Her guidance really was the icing on the cake of a fun and informative afternoon. Thank you, Shaun! (Hope I spelled your name right ;)

My family and I went here for the polar express experience. We started out waiting in line but the line goes pretty fast. Once you get checked in they have this beautifully decorated tree you can take pictures in front of. They have a store for the railroad museum with lots of interesting souvenirs. Then they have music and everyone dressed up from the 1940s era. They have a bar if you chose the package where you purchase the polar express hot coco mugs, you show them your ticket and they will give you that and a polar express bag to carry around. They have a few booths set up one for snacks like popcorn, pretzels, and soda. Then another for cookies, cake slices, and other deserts. Then another booth for the adults which is alcoholic beverages, some are cocktails they have, and others are beer, wine, and whatever you want, the bartender can try to make. You walk outside on the patio, and they have a two food trucks and their own outside restaurant set up. Prices are fair but I feel like it's best to bring a good amount of money to spend. No matter what your getting. Once the singing stops that's when the play starts and everyone who's sitting on the carpet or the chairs, watches and then it continues to where you walk out into the train and find which car is yours to sit in. The actual act goes on while inside you sit and it's just like the movie. It's a very magical experience, and we received hot coco and cookies and it was the best coco I've ever had. You also join in on the play at times. Then Santa comes and he is literally the best Santa. Once you get off the train you end up at the north pole and you see a show and then you get to see all the trains, music, and lights. It's nice, and they have chairs to sit to see it all or you can stand. My family and I enjoied every bit of it. And I definitely recommend anyone young or old, children or no children to come and experience the magical polar express. It's totally worth it, better than any other holiday lights show, or holiday show I've ever been to. 🚉☃️🎄🎅🏽🎁❄️

Great experience and it’s nice to see a piece of history. My son also loved it specially he likes trains, would come back again soon and hopefully we can get on the train ride. Would recommend trying out the train simulator for the future visitors

My family and I had the most wonderful experience participating in the Polar Express ride. It was even better than the Polar Express ride in Palestine! Our stagecoach Rudy was PHENOMENAL!! As soon as the trains horn honked, we immediately felt like we were taken back in time and in the actual movie. It was magical. I wish we’d known about this years ago. We would’ve brought the kids when they were younger. We definitely plan to go back next year! We parked outside of the resturant, Hearsay (the food was amazing), had dinner there, then walked to the museum for the ride. It was perfect!!

Really neat place to visit. We had seen it online but never really paid any mind to where it was located until we stumbled across it while walking down the strand. We couldn't pass it up (we have a 2 year old that loves trains). We bought the all access pass that included a short ride on a train that takes ypu out of the facility a little ways and then comes back. My son really liked it even though the train horn was pretty loud (highly recommend standing on the back side of the passenger cart away from the locomotive). There's lots of things to look at both inside the extra buildings and the trains in the lot. Very informative and comfortable to check out at you're own pace. There is a concession stand that serves hot dogs and such but we did not have much luck with that. It was quite expensive for what it was and the person working it was very overwhelmed taking orders and preparing food all by himself. Other than that it was a very positive experience.

We had an enchanting journey on the Polar Express train ride, starting from the festive train station to the delightful actors. The cookies and hot chocolate added a warm touch, but meeting Santa and receiving the bell made it truly magical. Highly recommend for a festive and memorable experience!

Amazing museum... Entrance cost 12USD you can walk through the railways. You can find some souvenirs and in the morning no too much people so you can enjoy and take pictures.

My family of 5 had a great experience here. We purchased our entrance tickets off of Groupon. You park on the side of the road and walk to the pier !! They have rental fishing poles and plenty of bait. The lady at the register was very helpful !! We saw a few dolphins really close to shore. We caught a few fish… we released them back into the water though.

I really enjoyed myself,this was my First time salt water fishing on the 61st pier.I really want to Thank Mrs.Corrina and Mrs.Deborah for assisting me and both were very nice to me I will never forget my experience here at the 61st pier and can't wait to come again ,my wife pushed me to go fishing here if she didn't I would of missed my blessing and I want to Thank my wife Tonya Hendrix for showing me where this place was until next time have a Great day

I'm not a fisherman by any means, so who would've thought that I would fall in love with this fishing pier. Lol The view from the observation deck is FABULOUS! Sunrise and sunset visits are an absolute must! Before the observation deck bar ope s, you do have to either pay $2 per person to go up or buy a minimum of $2 per person. I recommend getting a coffee, and going up to view the sunrise in the morning. The staff is amazingly friendly. The little shop is fabulous. We wondered through 3 different times and saw different thi gs each time. They have some of the best options and prices for beach essentials and souvenirs on the seawall. Check them out!

Went to hotel for 2 day robotics comp, Was locked out the hotel, and I didn't want to wake up our team mates, so we walked around so we didn't fall aleep, around 1. We walked in, and the service was amazing here, talker for over an hour about robot dancing humans. And his art, it looks amazing. He trusted us to take the art and pay back later. We were able to go to an ATM and get the money. When we came back with the money, he gave us dock access and let us fish, also thought about fishing. Later, around 5, he brought us a pizza and some water, when we got inside we gave him the money we had left because we felt bad eating for free.

Getting in was fast and easy the cashier was funny he tried to get jazzy lol. We stayed out till at least 2:40am this place it 24hrs there was a lot of small catfish.

Such a cool spot! Above the fishing pier is a little bar with a great atmosphere. We love it here when the weather is nice!

Fun experience! Cdawg was kind and helpful. No big catches but even the little ones kept our kids' attention. It was hot but the ocean breeze was fantastic.

I've been here many years when I say it's changed for the better. Everyone is helpful and for 12 bucks for an adult, 12 and up, and 6 bucks for kids' 24-hour pass. Best bang for your buck if you want a place that has everything you need to fish and then some. They have bait, snack, and then some. Parts on the pier are shaded most of the day and they have wooden benches to sit down and relax. Come spend a day here, we loved it.

Cdawg was absolutely amazing! We always have fun on the pier, but yesterday was the bomb! My son caught 20 fish and my niece and her friend caught 10 together. 30 fish total!! Cdawg walked the pier and offered to help anyone who needed it- he even took off a few fish for us. We love the 61st Street Fishing Pier! Thanks for making our experience magical!

Most amazing bar ! And best pizza ever carrie and Joe are amazing, the views are the best , there actually amazing when it comes to tourist which is a blessing down here . The bathrooms are clean , but tip your bartender before use ! Trust me on that cause you get the red carpet treatment 🤪

Visiting from out of town and decided to enjoy the beach view with a coffee and was not disappointed at all by the neither. Coffee was great and the observation deck had a great view. Will definitely stop by if in town again

I don't fish, but this has been my service dog's favorite place in the world for years. We sit up on the upper deck while I enjoy a few beers. Great view of the ocean and watching some great catches from those who do fish...

I was staying at the Victorian Resort, which is right near the beach (would recommend both of them!) I went to the beach just to look around, and discovered this hidden gem. The coffee, food, products, merch, and souvenirs were AMAZING. This place and Pleasure Pier were both AMAZING places to visit. 100% would recommend.

Literally my new favorite spot in all of Galveston- there is nothing better than a drinking a cup of coffee surrounded by water. Kathy made the BEST coffee… so good that we forgot about Starbucks the whole time we were here!! Thanks Kathy for making our mornings so great!!

These campgrounds have been recently renovated and it shows. We stayed at the Bayside campground which is fine. The sites are close together with shared picnic and fire pit area. There where no restrooms in our area so be aware when booking. The ocean side campgrounds are really nice with lots of amenities. There are some nice hiking trails in the area. Lots to do in the area. Shout out to the park rangers at the campgrounds, very nice!

As far as state parks go, Galveston Island State Park is hits all the marks. You can camp, there are plenty of fishing opportunities, RVs are welcome, there's even a beach. On paper it has everything you'd love, but it's pretty standard all around. Camping is beach camping so expect sand literally everywhere including places you didn't expect sand to discover. Ignore that thought that it would be fun to camp near the beach. Outright ignore it. Camp on the bay side of the park near campsite 103. There's a lot less sand, very few campsites to a restroom with showers, and almost no noise. If you camp near the beach, you'll have tons of sand, noise and lights from other campers, and you'll literally have no restroom unless you walk a ways or drive. Other than camping, the beach is nice and way less crowded than the Seawall area, so at a minimum go here for day use. It's worth the entry price for that alone.

The beach front campsites have been recently redone and they are lovely. Level concrete pads, 50 amp service with water, picnic ramadas. We overlooked the marsh which was nice for bird watching. Weather could have been more cooperating, but we enjoyed our stay regardless. Nice to be out of town a bit. Great beach! Worth going to part of the park on the bay side. Nice hiking trails, interesting marsh. Some nice campsites too.

Since Hurricane Harvey the state park is closed and gated for renovations. However the nearest beach access is a very short (less than a mile) drive back towards Galveston and you can drive out on the sand to the ocean edge. Which was better than parking and walking but no amenities such as tables, trash containers, or toilets.

This was our first time to the ocean and had a wonderful time. The employees were nice and easy to check in. The campsites were clean had plenty of room for our pop up and 2 tents. The bathrooms were clean and had plenty of showers and stalls. The walk to the beach was not very far. Got to do some night crab seeing just to see them. And the beaches were clean. Swimming was always fun as well and even got to see seagulls and pelicans. And building sand castle's was fun to. Thank you for a wonderful time. Will definitely come again

It does feel like a small state park, but it was absolutely teeming with life. I'd never heard of a Roseate Spoonbill before, but the park had a huge flock of them. They were absolutely gorgeous!! Their colors ranged from pale pink to dark magenta. We sat in the car and watched them for a while. They were just so unreal. We also saw other birds as well, and I left feeling like I learned something new about my state. I highly recommend swinging by and checking it out, or even seeing what camping options they have. I bet you will see a lot of cool native wildlife that way!

The park is very clean and well maintained. The beach seemed to be clear of trash but without disturbing natural beauty and wildlife. I was very surprised by how large the individual camping areas were. There is also plenty of room for moving around the campground. The beach paths are a little tight but we were able to pass people going the other way without too much inconvenience. We are already planning our next trip here. We had an outstanding trip!!!

We camped Galveston Island, State Park for a week. This may be one of my favorite parks ever. We stayed on the Bayside, which was very quiet and serene. The birding is outstanding, thoroughly enjoyed walking the trails and biking. It is a short ride from Galveston itself, which has a ton of things to do. Restaurants in the area are great! This is one I would definitely come back to. If you’d like to be active, it is a great place to go.

A lovely park, with mostly easy and flat trails. However, the flatness of the terrain made it very difficult to spot wildlife. Apart from a few crabs on the paths and one heron at the start of the park, we did not see any other wildlife. Additionally, a good portion of the paths were very muddy and impossible to cross without proper shoes. We wore our trainers, so ended up not being able to do most of the paths as they were too muddy.

Loved Galveston state park! We spend 3 days here on our trip. The rangers were very informative and friendly! We went to 3 of their Jr Ranger activities and my kids wanted to go back for all of them! There were lots of trails and informative signs on the trails. The beach side was really nice with nice bathrooms a d showers! The beach was clean and beautiful! Definitely worth going to!

Completely rebuilt since the destruction caused by hurricane Ike. The rebirth of Galveston Island State Park is amazing. Friendly staff and patrons, beautiful grounds and beach, and nearly endless amenities make this our new go to escape on the island. Plentiful campsites with water and power, bathrooms everywhere, and even a small shop with ice and other necessities allow for perfect beach experiences. Be sure to make your reservations early because they fill up fast.

Galveston Island State Park is a perfect mix of natural beauty and good amenities. We enjoyed the walking trails and seeing all the natural flora and fauna. The parks was very well maintained.

I like the beach side better than the bay side. A very nice place to camp! Tar is very present at the beach and in the water! Use Goo Gone or lighter fluid to remove it! Showers are nice. There is a water & ice machine near the camping area.

Amazing Camping Spot! We stayed on a platform camping spot and they’re fairly large and easy to use for setting your tent up. Fairly priced I feel like. For Two people’s entry pass to the park and the Camp spot it was $30. We had access to electricity as well as water. The showers we’re clean and not too bad. You do have a Bench next to your lifted Camping area as well!

We had a great time. Spent the weekend camping on the oceanside, so peaceful and laid back this time of year. We rented the camping spot with a deck and electrical outlets it was perfect, 6 with 100+ temps, we had a box fan at night. Our space was just a short walk to the restrooms & showers ( well maintained) for a state park. The beach was clean and not very crowded. Definitely plan to go back. We also enjoyed the walking trails on the bayou side👟.

What a great upgrade to an already great state park. The work completed after the hurricane is wonderful. They maintained every ounce of beech chill while providing more spots, updated electricity and water and a nice dumpstation. There are plenty of trash cans as well. The bathrooms and day use areas are also really nice. As always food availability in this area is my only gripe, but then again you are on the island and have time for a quick drive.

I spent a week here. Park is close to all Galveston has to offer, large rv pads, level and paved, covered table and a fire ring. Cell and TV reception are great. Easy access to the beach, clean restrooms with showers. The part of the park north of the main road has several miles of trails to stretch your legs on. Park staff was friendly and pleasant to deal with. I had a great visit!

Very clean well kept park and beach. But if you're walking through the grassy trails make sure you have bug spray because the mosquitoes are huge. Over all I like coming here and watching the sunset

This state park is very nice and clean. We have stayed here several times and will be back again this year. I love having close access to the beach. It doesn't get too terribly crowded either. I appreciate that the park is well patrolled and u see maintenance going up and down. The beach keeping it clean and keeping people safe.

If you want to camp near the bay or see the waves of the Mexican Gulf, this is very applicable for you. Lovely view to see the sunrise and sunset as well. You can go fishing in the lake too. There is electricity & water for RV, Van, & trailers campgrounds, there is also space for tent or dry camping. Very near to the city to explore.

Great place to relax and watch sunrises and sunsets. The waves were very relaxing, and there was no seaweed washing up. Take Off as the mosquitoes get fierce. A little crowded, but the park is large and accommodates many.

If you park at the regular surface lots, it is what it is. It’s a government job and the shuttle bus drivers know they won’t get fired, enough said about that. If you’re cruising with Carnival, do not believe the Port of Galveston when they tell you that your Carnival ship will be at the terminal closest to the Express lot because it ain’t happening! The only time that your ship will be near the Express lot is when there’s 2 Carnival ships in port on the same day. And dragging your luggage over 1/4 mile to the ship isn’t fun. And pay attention to the “you must pay to park” signs that are not visible to you. They are totally running a scam. They don’t give you a ticket so you get your due process and have the ability to fight it in court, they place a device on your windshield that prevents you from driving away so in reality, they are playing sheriff, judge, jury, and executioner all in one. The mafia is much more understanding. “F#ck the Port of Galveston and their inability to put signs up where needed and then charge you $72 plus a $200 deposit until you return it. No, it’s not real clear where you have to return it either so you have to waste your time calling to get directions on where to return this device. Note the handicapped parking sign to the right. There’s another sign below it that you cannot see that says places to the left must pay to eat at one of the best and most expensive restaurants on the island. “F” Galveston

This is the best parking lot for the cruise. Space fills up fast so it is a good idea to book ahead of time. Sign up for the emails and the coupons come by email - worth it! Also the people at the port are amazing! Blanche answered my call and helped me within minutes so that I could reserve parking for my upcoming cruise. A++ place and service!

Our time at the port was short but very efficient. We showed up at our boarding time and got in the correct line. Provided our passports then went through baggage check and immediately entered the ship. Upon return the face recognition software for those with a passport is fast. We walked off the ship and I was loading the car with luggage within 20 minutes.

Easy to make reservations and easy to find and park. Employees were very helpful with loading luggage.area is secure and police patrolled. Pricing is reasonable.

These guys are great. On 2/05/23 my wife and I left for a cruise and parked in Lot C. We were rushing to get boarded and in our haste I forgot to roll up the driver side window, but I didn't know it. When we returned on 2/12/23 the staff at the parking lot had seen that my window was down and with rain in the forecast covered my window with plastic and tape to prevent any rain from getting in the car. That was going above and beyond and I am so grateful for you going the extra mile. I am a very, very happy customer. Thank you so much.

I just got back from a cruise with Carnival. We parked in Lot A. This was my second time parking in this lot and it has always been a smooth experience. Parking is a little expensive, but worth in my opinion. We have never had to wait more than 2 or 3 minutes for a shuttle, and the staff have always been very courteous. My complaint is with the ridiculously long lines for embarking and disembarking. While most of the employees are very helpful and polite, there were some that should put in for retirement. I have had better experiences at other ports.

At the beginning of August I was trying to park for our Allure of the Sea cruise. We had a crazy situation that was very stressful, but Spencer was amazing and went above and beyond for me and my daughter. I loved that the port staff made sure we were able to join our cruise and even made sure my embarkation was uneventful. Thank you Spencer and Port of Galveston staff!

Parking was easier than we thought it was going to be. Short distance to the ship for boarding. Make sure you turn all your lights off before you leave! We had a dead battery when we got back a week later. Thank goodness the kids had a charger in their vehicle.

Thoroughly enjoyed the ease of using this service with Port of Galveston. I’d like to personally single out one team member, Blanche Sheffield who was amazing with offering professional assistance with getting me to the proper location. Yeah not very happy with experience. When i googled parking this had a close address across the terminal. It showed indoor parking garage. When i pulled up to garage i was told to backup and go down the street half a mile to a Lot. It was much further and had to walk all the way to terminal. NOT what i was expecting. Address is very misleading.

I have parked at Port Parking for several years and this last trip Gino really went above and beyond to help me. The morning of boarding the ship, my car battery died and my car would not start. Gino himself came to the hotel himself to try to help me get it started and diagnose the problem, when we decided it needed a new battery he went ahead and took me to the port to board the ship so I would not be late, went and got me a new battery, checked my car in at port parking and had me ready to head home on my 9 hour trip back home when the ship made it back to port. I am beyond pleased with the service I have received in the past but this one takes the cake. Thank you again Gino!

Great experience at Economy Lot B with the Port of Galveston. The initial guy (didn’t get his name), we came in contact with explained the process back to our car thoroughly. Jermaine was very pleasant and had the shuttle nice and cool inside.

Great, safe, convenient parking near cruise ship terminal. Simply park and they will shuttle you directly up to the terminal. I have used the covered garage but you have to walk yourself, along with luggage. To me it's more convenient to do the larger parking lot and utilize shuttle.

I received great customer service from Blanche S. I was having a problem with my reservation until I made a phone call to get it figured out. Blanche was patient with me and guided me through it. She even made a follow up call to make sure it all worked for me... Highly recommend after her great help.

It was my lucky day! I was having difficulty figuring out how to use my loyalty points on the Port of Galveston's website when trying to book a parking reservation for an upcoming cruise. Out of desperation, I called the Parking & Ground Transportation phone number on the Port's website. To my amazement, I got a "live" customer service agent -- a perky, knowledgeable, and totally efficient Ms. Blanche Sheffield. In no time I was printing out my reservation, including my loyalty point credit. It was one of those moments that one truly appreciates someone who knows their job and offers exceptional, considerate service. You have a gem there Port of Galveston.

I had the privilege of being assisted by Blanche Sheffield in her providing me with instructions in what we needed to do when we arrive to the Galveston Port Parking Lot on the 9th of April 2024 to take a cruise on the Disney Cruise Line. It was wonderful speaking with a pleasant individual such as her so early in the morning and being positive in what she was explaining to me. This has been a second time I have made arrangements to park at the Galveston Parking Lot and have had no issues nor being disappointment with my experience. Thank you again.

I have been cruising for years and my family and I have always used this parking lot with great success. Friendly service, reasonable rates, low wait times. Unfortunately, this no longer seems to be the case. And I do not understand it because the amount of ships those days were no different than normal. I was first of all shocked and appalled that the prices have doubled to use this lot. Parking attendants had no idea where to send me to park so drove around in circles getting stuck a couple of times and having to maneuver my way through cramped situations in a truck before I finally rolled my window down and said, “can I just park where I can find a spot myself.” Then waited in a humongous line for shuttle in the freezing wind for over an hour. I was sick on my cruise because of it. Then once we arrived back at port the line was even more unimaginable. People said they had already been waiting for 30 minutes at the back of the line. There was no way I was going to wait 3 hours or more for a shuttle so we walked. Distance is not long, but there are no sidewalks and you will find yourself walking down alleys and through mud and water with your luggage. I was pissed. When I decide to leave out of Galveston again Im going to have to really plan a better way. Extremely disappointed. Do not recommend.
