(2006). One of San Francisco’s amazing structure that is a sight to see and a memorable experience driving on the bridge. It’s red color provides a nice modern style to previous and current traditional bridges. It’s massive length is overwhelming, but the experience is unforgettable. When driving on the bridge, its a thrilling experience and the views are picture perfect.

The golden gate bridge is the most photographed bridge in the world. It also holds the distinct rank for being the most videoed bridge on the planet, shown on the highest number of hollywood movies. Its over a mile long suspension bridge built back in 1937, connecting the San Francisco Bay with the Pacific Ocean. We visited the vista point adjacent to the bridge back in winter of 2018 and absolutely loved the views from here. Here are some pictures I took of this enigmatic bridge.

Great viewpoint for the bridge. It has a very small car park which is cheap to use. Toilet facilities and a visitor centre close by. We would recommend parking beside the visit centre to stop any smash and grab robberies in the other close by car parks.

Took the hop on hop off bus. Great to travel across the bridge to Vista Point. TIPS: - Very crowded with tourists, so be prepared to spend some time getting the best vantage point. - Check the weather as it can get foggy and is quite cool up there. - Try to go early or late if you want good photos. I went on a beautiful day, but the sun was already too high to get the photos I wanted. - The toilets are quite dirty due to the amount of tourists using them. Be prepared. 😜 RECOMMEND?? Yes! - Enjoy! It’s a great spot to stop.

Very awe inspiring. The vast ocean and bay on opposite sides of the bridge. The mammoth man made structure. Give yourself plenty of time to absorb the scenes. Pictures can't fully capture the grandeur.

Enjoy the marina by exploring on the docks. The bookstore is wonderful and includes gifts and beverages. Three marina restaurants offer great views of the bay and excellent food. Sausalito is a must see.

A wonderful half day walk along Bridgeway. Scenic views for photography. Fresh air while browsing the sea on one side and hills on the other. For food, there are many restaurants with great scenic views. Parking is not a problem. You can enjoy delicious dining. Scenery that you will love at this iconic place. You may go from San Francisco via a boat ferry or bicycle ,over great Golden Gate Bridge. We enjoyed Muir Wood too on north. You may enjoy fun shopping from local shops. Every moment is worth enjoying.

A ferry ride across the bay from San Francisco sets a gem of a town, Sausalito. Well worth the minor cost of the ferry ride to quaint shops and restaurants. Make it a must journey while visiting San Francisco.

Stopped by for a quick visit on the way to San Francisco but would have loved to stay the night. Worth considering if you're planning a trip to San Francisco as you can get the ferry across and it only takes 30 minutes.

I spent almost half a day here. Loved the vibe and culture. Recommend to explore on foot rather than biking unless you plan to bike to the Golden Gate Bridge. The reason being its cute little town with a nice downtown street and with a bike in hand you will only need an hour or two max to go around the town. On foot you can explore at a nice pace and hop into shops as needed. But biking in a nice weather would be fun as well. Would definitely visit again to try out more restaurants and for a picnic with friends.

We walked from the Golden gate Bridge to Sausalito. Beautiful views total walk took about 1.5 hours. About 1/4 of the walk sidewalks are lacking. We ate at a yummy sandwich shop & got delicious ice cream. Nothing beats the views. So breathtaking. Oh & walking the Golden gate most definitely add it to your bucket list BEAUTIFUL is an understatement ❤ we caught the ferry in Sausalito back to the city.

Beautiful quick getaway from SF. It may be sunny when the Golden Gate Bridge is foggy, just 10 minutes away.

This place was awesome. Their mission and their volunteers were great. It's definitely worth the visit, especially if you have younger kids. We went during the week, so a reservation was easy to get, but we can't speak for busier times of the year.

Our group of students were lucky to visit the marine mammal center and we were hosted by the education coordinator Crystal who has the most radiant energy and passion for her work. The team emphasizes that the center is a hospital first and would prioritize healing the animals over tours. Throughout the tour we were able to learn about the rescue and healing process of the different marine mammals that came to their facility which became a big inspiration to the students. The organization is well prepared for fun interactive activities to help with experiential learning and I also appreciated that the team emphasized on not allowing the animals to associate humans to food or care so they could be self reliant in the wild.

We registered online in advance groups up to 10 per party. Our reservation window was 10am to 1pm and we were running late so I called and they were very happy to accommodate us. The times are just a window to visit the location. We were able to learn a lot about the marine mammals that come to our little section of the coast. It's suggested that you go online and make a reservation. IT'S FREE, go check it out.

Interesting place, small practical place! You can obviously stay as long as you like but you can perfectly go in and out in 15 min. I would recommend to plan this as a stop before going to the near beach or the Point Bonita Lighthouse. Sadly you will see the damage we have created to the Ocean with all of our plastic 😥

Great place to spend a couple hours and learn more about the local seal and sea lion populations. The tour was fun and educational.

Very cute spot to come on a date, by yourself or bring your kids! This place is hidden in the mountains of Marin county but it’s a must stop if you are an animal lover. You can make reservations online or through eventbrite at least 24hrs before your visit. However my friend and I didn’t get tickets and we just showed up with no problem. I recommend you calling to ask if there is space for you to join since some days is pretty packed. The mammal center itself was very cool, with a lot of information about the animals in the facility and information on how to contribute to the cause and be mindful of our environmental footprint. This place is volunteer run so you can also become a volunteer or ask questions about what’s going on. Some things to keep in mind: You probably won’t get very close to the animals. This is because they are either sick or wounded so they need silence and very little interaction. If you get lucky you might see volunteers feeding them, cleaning their cage or transporting the animals but this is not a zoo like experience. In some areas they might be operating or examining dead animals so discretion is advised. The place is kinda small so it probably would take you around 1 hr to see it all Either way it’s a really fun place to learn about animals in the Bay Area and understand them.

Our middle school has attended two field trips with the marine mammal center. Each field trip has been educational, informative and so interesting. One of the center leaders, Jade, is outstanding. First off any center that is open to the public for free to come and view what good work they're doing is fantastic. Please take this opportunity to make it down to the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito. It is near Great Beach so you can make a day of it bring a picnic and drinks. Please support the center by buying something from their gift shop I even love their little wooden decals for water bottles. Currently they had elephant seals harbor seals and sea lions and one fur seal on rehabilitation.

Outstanding work done here, largest marine mammal hospital in the world. Crystal gave us an outstanding tour with great information and shared enthusiasm.

I had an incredible time here with my teen! Here's what they had to say: "I learned all about rescuing seals and sea lions here! We went on a Guided Tour and learned all about what they do at the center. We even got to witness a tube feeding of the Northern Elephant Seal pups! It was just amazing to see all of those rescued animals for free and know how much effort The Marine Mammal Center was putting in to rescue, rehabilitate and release them."

It’s NOT a zoo. It’s a marine mammal hospital with lots of volunteers and they offer education on the animals they care for. Some reviewers are disappointed not to see animals up close. These people didn’t get the message. Call 415-289-SEAL (7325) if you see an ocean creature in distress. Volunteers from the center will come to the rescue.

Truly one of the most impaction places to visit and support effective efforts to save animals in the wild. The tours get booked up in advance but we were able to do the self guided tour and snag cute souvenirs. It was elephant seal pup season and they had a live feed.

The Marine Mammal Center is the country’s largest marine mammal hospital. Absolutely worth the visit and the tour if you’re interested in hearing about the important work they do to support our natural environment and help mitigate the pretty idiotic things we humans do to the detriment of wildlife. Depending on the time of year and a little luck, you’ll get to see all sorts of marine animals in rehab.

This a wonderful educational and working rehabilitation center for marine mammals in the area. Perfect for inspiring kids and adults alike and it’s free. I went during late summer when it’s more calm. February in comparison is very loud with hundreds of elephant seal pups. It’s close to several points of interest like the beach, light house Marin Headlands arts studios.

Great destination for a hike through the headlands. Went out on Monday to visit the little marine mammals on the mend. Great little visitors center with extremely friendly staff. The gal at the door was so happy to explain the center and features within. Inside there are a couple rooms with informative displays and interactive objects like seal pelts. Also some skeletons of seals that are really interesting! You can really see how they are mammals with their little front and back paws! In the viewing area was this nice young vonunteer named Allison! She was super sweet and excited to tell me all about the seals, seal lions and otters in their care. Great spot for kids! For adults it's interesting for sure. I'm an avid hiker and grew up on the coast of Oregon and Alaska so seals are nothing new for me. That being said I'm glad I went to check it out, 100% recommend:) Tickets are free and can be reserved online ahead of time.

Superb facility and very well managed with excellent food outlets and other areas of convenient outlets for the comfort of passengers and visitors alike. There’s open air market on Saturdays.

Gate B boats come and go five minutes apart. No place to wait. No snacks or drinks. No ticket machines. Old terminal Gates C & D not used. Ticket Machines on the other side of the Ferry Building from Gate B where the boats come and go uh...

They don’t sell tickets online, you have to buy the ticket on a machine that is on the other side of the port. A guy shouting at people to move over ands no one willing to assist you. A full third-world experience in the midst of a beautiful modern city.

I am delighted that the Golden Gate Ferry Service between Sausalito and San Francisco has been fully restored. The voyage is smooth and beautiful especially when the weather is as perfect as it was on February 10th, 2022. The ferry is my favorite way to get to San Francisco, and now I can return by ferry as well.

I had a great experience on this ferry and at the terminal. The people working here are very, very helpful and friendly. They are willing to answer all your questions.

Very easy service over to Sausalito. The ferry was on time for departure and arrival. The ferry staff were all very friendly and loved a joke. I would use this service again. Note, make sure you buy your return ticket before you leave San Francisco dock as the Sausalito dock gets very busy and you risk missing your ferry.

The new pier is fantastic. I love getting a coffee and roll from the Ferry Building for the Vallejo ferry. It’s only 15 miles from Vallejo to Downtown Napa. Makes for an awesome day.

Very disappointing. After being back in the bay area after many years I loaded my translink card at the ferry building machine at the entrance of the terminal of golden gate ferry to go to Sausalito with $25. At the moment I tapped my card to enter the jetty the machine refused my card. According to the guard my card was no longer valid for travel on the golden gate ferry. So I could put $25 on the card to find out it was no longer valid to travel. Very weird way of generating income. They just steal your money. Unacceptable.

Very nice place with a lot of activities for kids of all ages. There are multiple indoor and outdoor areas with different themes and activities. We found the combination of playing and having fun while learning new things and also doing some art work very interesting. Will definitely go again. We also enjoyed the nice view of the Golden Gate Bridge while in the museum. There are many free parking spots near the museum.

One of the best children’s museums in the country. This place is so well done. A perfect mix of tons of activities and things to play with, explore, and do. I had to drag my 3 & 7 year old out after 5 hours but they easily could have stayed all day. I appreciated the mix of indoor and outdoor spaces, along with how they’re broken into different categories. My daughter loved the art building and making cardboard creations. My son loved the unique outdoor playground spaces. The cafe on site has a good mix of healthy and fun foods although was out of numerous items. The staff throughout the whole place were so professional, attentive, and helpful. The place is truly gorgeous - scenic views of the Golden Gate Bridge included. I wish more cities had a place this amazing for kids!

Great museum for toddlers and YOUNG kids. Extra fun on warm weather days. Beautiful views and lots of places to play and explore in the fresh air. Great for toddlers and kids under 10. Not much to do for older kids.

I've been here twice with my child. He had a really good day here. It was good for my child to have new experiences. And there were many things to enjoy. I'm planning to go here with my child next year. And I would like to recommend it to families with children traveling to San Francisco.

We took our 6 year old and our 11 month old girls. This is one of the few places which had section for babies too so our baby girl could also enjoy and not just be a spectator. Loved that all the structures and exhibits were nature or stem based. And all of the fun with the gorgeous view of Golden gate right next to the museum. The older kids sections are well thought out and my daughter loved it. The art studio had cool activities too. The tot section was very clean which made me comfortable to leave my baby girl to explore. We would be back again for sure.

Visited the Bay Area Discovery Museum recently with my three boys, and we easily spent an entire day exploring. The kids had a blast, but I'd say the experience is more geared towards younger children. Even my 9-year-old found enjoyment through hands-on activities and the open play area. While it's definitely worth a one-time visit, I must say the fees seem a bit high for what's offered, and there might not be enough to keep kids engaged for repeat visits. The membership, priced at $209, doesn't seem worth it considering the limited appeal for return trips. On a positive note, there are ample seating areas for parents and caregivers to relax, as well as covered spots for lunch breaks. Some interactive exhibits were unfortunately out of order during our visit, impacting the overall experience. In comparison, I feel the Exploratorium caters better to older kids. In conclusion, the Bay Area Discovery Museum is worth checking out, especially for younger kids, but the value for money is questionable. The good news is that parking is free, a rare perk in the pricey SF Area.

Great kids museum with outdoor and indoor activities. Probably one of the best (and popular) museum in the Bay Area. The view is gorgeous, the golden bridge of course ! Don’t forget to bring to bring a jacket, it can be windy and cold.

Plenty of bathrooms! Gotta love a place where a potty is steps away at all times, specially with kids! We have visited a few different discovery museums and I must say this one is our favorite! I love this place !!! The activities and different rooms are diverse and fun to explore. They have a cardboard room where you can make your own cardboard toy, a car that you can paint with huge paint brushes, a house with appliances and furniture cut into halves for kids to explore how they are inside or how they work, a nice and big sand area overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, a big boat with things inside to play and explore, a huge play structure, and many more. The staff is super friendly and kind, there is an area to eat, but be sure to take your own packed lunch and water cause there are no cafes or restaurants to get food. Overall, it’s an amazing place for kids !!!

Perfect place for our 3 and 6 year old. We had no time limits and the kids never ran out of new areas to explore. Staff is all warm and friendly and all the families there were lots and calm. Great place to bring the family

Our two year old son had so much fun. There are so many big and little activities that entertain the kids. He loved the bubbles, spinning structure, climbing structure, building blocks, iceless skating, how it works room (with a slide), a ship, a bell, frog sculptures, construction zone, art area, and so much more. Some areas we think he'll engage with even more as he gets older. The staff are all so kind, patient, and helpful. The gift shop is small but has great toys and activity sets at market prices or less. The membership is totally worth it! Although there are many indoor activities, I do find that it's best to go on a non rainy day so that you can take advantage of their outdoor activities. Can get crowded (including waiting in line) but still worth it, and does not feel as such once inside.

We’ve been members for a few years, and it’s well-worth the affordable membership. Since we live on the north side of SF, it’s just a quick drive across the GG Bridge for us, which means it’s an every weekend option to keep the kids busy for a few hours. There’s a great mix of indoor & outdoor spaces, and my twins (5 yo) and daughter (2.5 yo) are all able to find activities to stimulate both their brains and their bodies. The only knock I have is on their limited food options, but we mostly just end up bringing our own food. Also, the parking lot fills up early, so be prepared to walk a little if you’re not here early on weekends; I’d suggest arriving no later than 10am or coming after 11am to pick off a spot opening up from early departures.

The Discovery Museum is on the former military post of Fort Baker. It’s for young children and there are lots of activities for them. What’s particularly nice is the views you can enjoy and the walks you can take.

This place was a delight. 100% recommend. Price was $100 for 5 which was a bit steep, be nice if they had some sort of discount. Great way for kids to play. So many activities to enjoy. I’d say this place isn’t really for kids over 10yo.

First time came to the observation deck, I think it is best spot to view the golden bridge, even was cloudy day we still able to get quiet a few very good shots of bridge, I can’t imagine how great views would be in sunny days. It’s very easy-accessible, you can drive and bike to there with short walk to the top, very windy at the top, bright a jacket and watch your hat is great idea. At almost 500 feet above the bay, this high cliff-top vantage point was a prime location for big coastal defense guns when the army was there.

I think this is one of the best spots to view the Golden Gate bridge. Amazing view of the bridge, Alcatraz island etc. Do make sure to check the weather before visiting. If it's sunny or clear, you are in for a treat. If you are going on a weekend, finding a parking spot can be an issue, but is manageable.

I came during the day and walk across the Golden Gate Bridge and then walked up the hill for this view, the one way walk is about an hour long. Even during the day the view of the Golden Gate Bridge from this close up and near eye level with the tower is very impressive. I wish I was here at sunset and stay until it was nighttime then I can see it light up and see San Francisco all lights up at night. Next time I will drive here and stay for a while.

The most romantic spot out side of the city to get a photo. Bit of a walk and parking can be annoying but it's worth the walk for a date night photo a proposal a family photo even sweet 16 photos and prom. I recommend you take a few at sunset as the views of the golden gate city are to die for.

Probably one of my favorite views of the Golden Gate Bridge! You can see the bridge up close in all its glory with the beautiful city of San Francisco in the background. The area is also an old abandoned military base, and you can see some of the old barracks as well. It’s a gorgeous view at all times of the day, but is particularly pretty right before sunset.

Definitely the best viewpoint of San Francisco Bridge!! However it does get really windy so bring windbreaker! We did saw car window fragments at the parking. Which is to say, it might be a little dangerous for those who leave their cars unattended.

I've visited Battery Spencer in Golden Gate several times, and each visit leaves me in awe of the outstanding views it offers. The panoramic view of the Golden Gate Bridge is simply breathtaking. Although there's a short hike involved, it's entirely worth it, and the trail is manageable for all. Surprisingly, even with a good number of visitors, it never feels crowded, allowing for a peaceful experience. Parking can be a bit limited up front, but there are ample street-side parking spaces available. TLDR: come for the sunrise and you won’t be disappointed! Even if Karl the Fog is lurking, most of the time coming here will get you above the fog and to see the sunrise. There is sufficient parking in front as well as nearby so feel free to park closer. There’s plenty of space for many people to enjoy the sunrise, go catch the views of the SF skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge as well!

I visited Battery Spencer in San Francisco yesterday and it was a breathtaking experience. The battery is a historic military site that offers stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the city skyline. It is located on a hilltop along Conzelman Road, which is a scenic drive with many overlooks and photo spots. The battery itself is a fascinating place to explore, as it has several old buildings and structures that date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. You can see the remains of the gun emplacements, the ammunition storage, and the generators that powered the battery. There are also some informational signs that explain the history and significance of the battery in the defense of the San Francisco Bay. One of the most interesting features of the battery is the locks on the top, which are padlocks that people have attached to the fence as a symbol of their love or friendship. There are hundreds of locks of different shapes, sizes, and colors, each with a unique message or name. It is a fun and romantic gesture that adds a touch of whimsy to the place. Today was a very sunny day, no wind and a very blue sky. It was the perfect day to see San Francisco by the “other side”. Free very disputed parking. Stunning view. It was the best compared to all the other Golden Gate vista points. Unfortunately they haven’t preserved well old militar point it was in the past.

If you imagine that you were in a tiny boat, you could be here all day!

There is a huge amount of information presented both on the Bay Model itself and on the the Bay watershed at large, plus the history of the Marinship from WW2. If you're like me and what to try to absorb every bit of information presented allow 3-4 hours. It was unfortunate the model wasn't fully functioning when I was there but I'd like to visit again when it is just to see it doing its thing (and to catch a few things I ended up skipping due to time or that weren't functioning). The building and exhibits also are showing their age and would really benefit from a refresh. Most didn't detract from the exhibits but there were a few video setups that were offline. The nature of the information means it probably isn't for real small kids, but if you have a passing interest in the Bay, hydraulics and hydrology, or infrastructure/engineering you'd likely find it fascinating.

Very cool museum. Unfortunately when we went they were doing repair work and we're not running the model, but it was still really cool to see the model. The museum also has a nice video and lots of displays explaining some of the history of the model. Definitely would recommend checking it out if you're into history and/or engineering museums.

Unexpected great find - I had no idea this existed. Very interesting, huge scale and well-explained. I only dropped in for 15 minutes but I could have spent an hour or more there. Worth a visit.

Fascinating history. This huge working Model of the San Francisco Bay operated for decades until replaced by computer models. There's also a great little museum on this site which originally built ships for WWII, including many female workers. This center is free to visit, right on the Bay with a pretty native garden out front and a small gift shop. There was an art show there when we visited. Bring a picnic lunch.

A fun free activity in the Bay area. It is a huge physical model of the bay. Unfortunately we didn't have a ton of time to read through all the information - you could literally spend all day here! It is an engineers dream and is pretty cool even if you aren't necessarily engineering minded.

I have lived in the Bay area since 1984 and never realized that this exhibit existed. It's a marvelous representation of the entire Northern California wetlands ecosystem. It warrants your presence to experience! Absolutely inspiring as well as educational. Kudos to the pleasant and professional staff, especially Linda our tour guide!

Really cool to see this massive model of the bay. I learned a lot about water flow and management. This is fun for kids to walk around. Lots of interactive displays.

Pretty amazing place for what it is. It's free and there is free parking. It's incredible how large this is and great that they also talk about different aspects of maintaining the bay and the model. It's more for adults than kids I would say, and more engineering and sciency than most adults may appreciate. They do a good job of recycling the guided tour books too. Bravo! TIP: You get a good view of the bay and it's not far to downtown Sausalito so it could be worth a short stop.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this place. I was the first one through the door in the morning and luckily the museum director happened to walking through and greeted me, I asked a rather in depth question and got the most knowledgeable and in depth. Which lead to more questions, director gave me at least 30 minutes of their time. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Bay Model is a working hydraulic scale model of the San Francisco Bay and Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta System. While the Bay Model is still operational, it is no longer used for scientific research but is instead open to the public alongside educational exhibits about Bay hydrology.

This is a good gem I wasn't expecting. I came here for a private after hour event. After checking out some of the lobby information table, I went into the visitors center. There's a lot of information of building ships during the second world war. Then past this, you want into a map of the Bay area water ways. It's very different as the water ways is the focus point and not the land masses. I'll definitely comeback for another visit.

Great place to take anyone young or old. So interesting to see how big the bay really is. Note that the water is not in the model now. Will be again in the summer.

San Francisco Golden Gate National Recreation Area is stunning, and Rodeo Beach Coastal Area is a great place to experience it. Parking and restrooms can be challenging in other parts of the park, but Rodeo Beach has plenty of both. There are several easy trails in the area, including one that takes you from the beach to several nearby military batteries. Even a foggy day can be a pleasant experience, as you can immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area.

This beach is absolutely beautiful! The trails have breathtaking view and paved perfectly for any hiker!

I had such a blast in here. Perfect for people who want to surf or just see the beach. The water was perfect and the view very impressive I loved it so much.

Gorgeous beach just a short drive from San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge. Went on a Monday morning and there were hardly any people here. Loved sitting on a log and watching the surfers, breathing in the fresh ocean air and watching dogs frolic on the sand. There’s a few little hikes in the area that provide great views of the surrounding shores. No food so make sure to pack a lunch!

A gorgeous beach with privacy, peace, and quiet. The beach is not as hectic as many in Northern California. My daughter is enchanted by the tides along the beach.

This rocky beach has plenty of parking, ample trails, picnic tables, and clean bathrooms. We spent 3 hours combing the beach, hiking the trails, and having a picnic. Many people had their dogs out for a walk. The surfing was good as there was more than 20 surfers in the water with varying degrees of skill. We would come back again for sure as the ease of this location just a quick jump off 101 N. was great!

On a clear day, the views are breathtaking. It is a perfect place for a picnic. The scenery is tranquil and relaxing during a weekend get away from the hustle and bustle.

Not a bad beach, plenty of parking but if it’s a nice day should get here early. Very dog friendly, looks like reasonable surf, enough of a shallow stretch for kids to run around in the water. The beach isn’t that long, so when crowded can hike the nearby trails or go to Muir Beach (5.9miles). *If you’re expecting a “California Sandy style beach”, this isn’t for you.

Stopped here for wine tasting. Decent menu and we were Lucky to be there on rose day!!

This place is quite nice for a tasting by oneself or as a couple. Any more than that might be tricky to fit comfortably at the bar. The server was patient, thoughtful, and very professional. We left with two nice bottles of wine. We’ll be going back, this time with friends to try it with a larger group.

Very nice wine tasting bar in Sausalito. Selection of wines is great, the selection of snacks is good, staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is great. Will be back!

Friendly staff and cute wine themed souvenirs. But, $20 sampler gave us TINY samples, between 4 samples perhaps half a glass of fairly generic local wine (nothing particularly special). Poured each sample into the same glass, we had to ask for fresh glasses even when switching from white to red. If we’d had a better experience we’d have tried all the tastings but this was a waste of money overall. Maybe it’s because we’re European, and we do decent wine for 4/5euro a glass, but these ridiculous tiny, one mouthful tasting samples for 20 dollars can absolutely get in the sea.

Wine selection is great however when we did the tasting they used the same glass for all 4 wines. Big no go and cannot recommend for anyone that enjoys wine. That is getting the basics wrong and a bit concerning

My wife and I were visiting from out of town, had time to kill, and dropped into Bacchus & Venus on a whim. What a good choice that was! Amy, the Wine Club Manager, immediately greeted us and spoke to us like we've been friends for years. She was warm, knowledgeable, and made us feel at home. The wine flights were high quality Northern California wines that Amy selected personally. We enjoyed the tasting room's ambiance and décor. We will definitely return soon. Thank you Bacchus & Venus! One day it's windy, sometimes foggy, other days sunny, but it's always a great hike. Sometimes it feels like you are above the clouds.

Fort Cronkhite is always refreshing, it's at the last exit before crossing the Golden Gate Bridge from the north, which is $12.00. After waiting for 5 minutes for the signal light to change on the one way tunnel, which isn't bad the admission is perfect, free. The view of the Golden Gate and the city and ocean is priceless.

Popular surfing and hiking spot - but really there’s lots of parking and no effort to find a view spot - public bathroom but very little in regards to trees - so sunblock is advised - hiking from easy to lengthy w elevation (hilly) Access to Bonita lighthouse is limited by ranger based on their headcount - and the lighthouse access gets shut down at sun down (posted 3pm ish but that’s loose 😶)

TLDR: Great beach on the way to Mammal center further up the hill with a peek at the Golden Gate Bridge as you exit Robin Williams tunnel. Stopped by the beach on the way back from the Marine Mammal Center on a Sunday afternoon. Found a good parking spot in short order and found a good spot after a short walk across the estuary Bridge. Sand here is nice but rough in some areas with bigger pebbles. It wasn't overcrowded and the kids were able to body surf and dig sand castles, but the water was too cold for us grownups to follow. Overall a great beach and we didn't even check out the barracks or hiking nearby.

Super nostalgic place! Lots of old army barracks, and other types of Army headquarters that date back to World War II. The buildings there are very old. They're not very well-maintained, but I think that adds to the nostalgic feel of the place.

Great historical military place to hike and explore, swim and surf, educate yourself and your young ones. I've literally thousands of better photographs of this extensive place, but only few on this phone - so for that, I apologize.

Spectacular views of the ocean and many sites to sea, see what I did there? Definitely a must area walk to the lighthouse a walk on the beach, and a visit to the Nike missile site, plenty more to see.

Old army barracks set in a typical Marin County landscape complete w fog rolls, pounding surf and meadow trails. Not a lot to do unless you love trekking out to windy bluffs for magnificent views.

Beautiful and clean with tons of options for hiking and cycling or just chilling on the beach with your family and dogs. Love it here

$5 tour was worth it! You get to go on the ship with a docent (guide) who will answer questions about the ship. It's made of good quality wood. They also have a mechanical advantage lesson where you compare the same weights on more or less pulleys. The more pulleys, the lighter the bag seems!

It's going to be a great ship, and needs a lot of work to.get there. Come volunteer!!

I’ve been to San Fran several times but have never taken the time to travel to Sausalito. Today we took the ferry across and decided to check out the shops and restaurants. We came across this family winery and we had to try it out. We were greeted by Patricia and she introduced us to a great tasting. She thoroughly explained everything to us. We had 2013 and 2014 Cabernets. We also had 2016 Sauvignon Neustra and 2015 Zinfandel. Everything was great and we really enjoyed our time here.

It was my first time doing the wine tasting. It was a great experience. I did the chocolate and wine tasting, the combination was really good. We bought cheese and crackers to try, it was a great idea. It's a cozy and warm place in Sausalito

My husband and I took the Ferry over from San Francisco. We stumbled upon this little gem and were warmly greeted by Patricia. She explained the concept for the tasting and we were shown a very comfy spot to relax. The tastings were wonderful and we enjoyed learning the history of the Madrigal family. We asked for. Recommendation for dinner and not only did she recommend a fabulous restaurant (Poggios) but she called and made a reservation for us! It was very unexpected and so kind. Thank you for a wonderful experience and going the extra mile simply because you are a lovely woman.

Stopped in on a quiet rainy spring Sunday for a quick tasting while waiting for friends. The tasting room is very welcoming and bright with colorful artwork and tons of natural light. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with the staff and left the tasting room disappointed. They were not able to cope with our request to split tastes or our casual demeanor. They came across as very stuffy, which did not at all fit the location or the surrounding businesses. On top of this, they were asking $25 for a "reserve tasting," the only option. This is simply too much given the location, wine quality, and staff experience. If you're looking for a quick stop to taste with friends, try the other wine bars down the street.

I am not really into wine, but I was visiting with a couple of friends who are, so we stopped by. We all had the tasting, we tried six different wines and a port. There were six reds and white. Despite not really being into wine, I liked the experience and enjoyed the wines. My friends were so impressed that they ended up becoming club members and hence our tasting was free.

Came in off the street for a quick visit after biking over from San Francisco and stayed for a wine tasting. We eventually signed up for the wine club for a few months and had a great time. Really loved their wines.

I had a wonderful experience here with my girlfriend. The woman working the floor was knowledgeable about the wine we were drinking, which made it a lot of fun. Great stop when in this beautiful little town.

Had a great time walking from Mill Valley Holiday Inn Express to the floating homes in Sausalito. Its short 1.2 miles walk gives you unique experience.

I love this place... the colorful houses, the relaxed vibe, the artwork and personal knick-knacks that the owners had placed to make each of their properties their own... and the smell of the salt air. Certainly, a favorite spot in the Bay area, one that I am so happy I discovered.

We walked 40mins each way from the ferry pier. Worth it. Such a tranquil and charming place, with several docks to wander down and the occasional resident pottering next door to look for a neighbor. Each home has tons of charm and personality. I recommend reading up on the colorful history before you go, folks like Stewart Brand (Long Now Foundation, Whole Earth Catalog) and Shel Silverstein once called it home. We saw the famous Owl and many other lovely abodes. Be respectful when approaching for photos.

Worth spending a half hour strolling quietly through the boardwalks. Each house is unique and its "front yard" (dock frontage) is decorated in colorful potted plants and other artwork. Because people actually live in these there are restrictions on times, dogs, etc but it's still worth seeing. Come, take some pictures, then head in to town for a nice meal.

Sausalito is a beautiful little town with boutiques, cafes and ice cream shops. Most interesting part of town is floating homes. Unique and beautiful.

This review is based on my experience today while browsing Daniel Merriam's new collection, Cloud Nine and Beyond online. The curator, Lauren, offered to do a FaceTime with me so I could see some of the works live. I live over 12 hours away so it's not possible for me to visit this amazing new collection. She was so sweet to work with and showed me these beautiful pieces. Dry Dock was my absolute favorite! The variety of themes and scale were so impressive. The colors are absolutely stunning! Daniel's work is some of the most exquisite art I've ever seen. I love it so much! So magical and intriguing! I'm very grateful for my personalized gallery tour via technology today! I've been to this gallery in person as well and find it very charming. If you are ever in Sausalito, I highly recommend a visit!

Extremely arrogant and rude woman who worked here! She was not in the gallery when we came in and she ignored us when we greeted her and yelled at me for taking a mask that was on the table for guests to use. As i politely mentioned to her, i wanted to double mask for my safety and others but she continued being disrespectful so we left because it was embarrassing. What a shame since the art is beautiful but its hard to appreciate when someone so ill mannered is working there.... Never visiting again and would not recommend to anyone i know.

Love the imaginative and jewel-toned paintings of Daniel Merriam! I found this gem just before leaving Sausalito and couldn’t leave without at least purchasing an art book. The originals and prints are all very reasonably priced. I’m surprised by the low ratings and comments about the gallery curator. Lauren was nothing but gracious and helpful; we had a nice conversation about the artist’s process and art in general. Perhaps it was a different woman from before. Anyway, this is definitely worth a stop regardless. Even if you are on a budget there are some lovely gift items for sale.

I came from Tacoma, WA, to see Daniel's new show! I am so glad I did! The place is beautiful, his work is stunning! His wife is so kind and lovely, and I really appreciated Elena, the art consultant for listening to me and helping me with my purchase of a new print! Would come again if I ever get the opportunity!

Amazing art however owner was incredibly rude and arrogant to guests. I liked an art piece of hers, so as any passionate person would I took my phone out to snap a photo (not knowing or seeing anything wrong with it) and instead of addressing me directly and privately in an understanding manner, she publicly shamed me for not paying attention to her 2 inch sign at the back that says no photography. I apologized and felt so horrible, it was an honest mistake and I don’t go to galleries often. She then spoke rudely of me to other guests quite loudly while I was still in the building. Again, cool art, but the gallery agent simply isn’t worth it. My friend that I went with also mentioned she had a negative encounter with the same woman a few months prior. It’s a shame such a rude person is working at a gallery showcasing such beautiful art. She’s really costing the business.

Great art honestly. Very unique and the pieces seem to transmit a mood or emotion is the best way I could explain it. I actually started looking online about a purchase because I just refuse to walk in that store agin with that woman working there. Very insulting, she didn't even really allow me and my gf to browse. Seemed almost to be directing us to what she wanted us to buy while taking little digs at us while I struggled to find casual conversation. Left in a hurry. Side note she was arguing with 2 women who were on their way out as we were walked in lol. This lady must have dirt on the owner or be a relative or something because if the business was interested purely in sales, she'd have been out of there a long time ago.

I went here and fell in love with the art. I was trying to decide between two pieces, but the woman curating the gallery was so offensive and rude we left. She kept grabbing my sweater and touching my person. She accosted me and told me if I was so willing to spend money on clothes and purses that I surely must have ruined my priorities somewhere down the line if I planned on leaving the gallery without art. I told her we would get her if we had any questions, we were trying to admire the art and make a very expensive decision. But she would not leave us alone, and then started berating me for my designer purse. "Are you going to put that in a frame on your wall? What are your morals if you're going to spend on that and not on art." She was overly aggressive, assertive, and off putting. I finally told her the purse was my late mothers, who's now passed away. And I would appreciate her backing off. We left. After reading the comments and other reviews for this gallery, it seems as though this has been an on going and expensive liability for the gallery. Shame, because I know it cost them a few thousand dollars today alone.

I had a similar experience to Raj who posted about a year ago. I went into the gallery today and the woman there pretty much told me the art there was too expensive for me. I thought I misunderstood her at first... How this started was I asked her for the gallery's business card and then she said "you do know this work starts at $1,000, you won't be finding anything cheaper than that." I was a confused what that had to do with anything and she hesitated and said "where do you live?" I told her San Francisco and she goes "oh okay, here's a card." Then she asked me if I was also an artist, I said yes I was, then she turned to an older couple standing near us who had called in to come see the gallery and had an appointment with her and she said "yes, you'd think other artists understand the value of a good art work but surprisingly that doesn't always happen" and then turned back to me to continue the conversation. I hadn't said anything to this lady other than the artist had incredible vision. I just don't understand why she had to act that way... My husband and I were genuinely interested in the work, and not the $1,000 dollar prints she pretty much said we couldn't afford, but one of the originals hanging in the gallery, for the new house we just bought in San Francisco. I sincerely hope that Daniel realizes who he is staffing and sees how they are driving business away.
