I have taken both the Xmas guided tour and the Historical tour. The Xmas tour is fun for those who enjoy decor. It’s very thought out with a lot of fun items to find. There are always different themes each year. But the best tour in my opinion is the Historical tour which is sadly coming to an end in a couple of weeks. The Historical tour takes you through the by history of the Stetson family, interesting facts about the home, and a discussion about his work as a hatter. Our most recent tour guide, Jo Ann, did an amazing job taking us from room to room and answering every question that the group had. At the end of the tour we purchased both books to take home and continue learning about the history of such an amazing home. The only downside of the tour is that you cannot take photos inside, but being that this is a private residence, and is only funded by tours, it is understandably why they ask for privacy.

We took the guided tour and I highly recommend it. Our guide was such a delight. She truly loved the place and gave us so much detail on the planning and history of both the house and the Stetson family. Plus her descriptive narrative was riddled with humor which kept us interested and made the tour more pleasurable. The 10 decorated rooms were amazing. Each room had a different theme from the others and from years past. We were delightfully impressed and I believe will make this tour an annual Christmas tradition.

A must see! Beautiful house. They still had holiday deco up so I want to see it without all of the decorations to get the real feel of the house and architecture. It was tastefully done though.

Visiting the Stetson is always a treat, but especially at Christmas to see JT's talent on display! Beautiful decor highlights the historic home & is a joy. We took the guided tour & were treated to a heartfelt story from JT in the dining room about what Christmas meant to him & his family. Our guide for the rest of the home was knowledgeable & entertaining. Photos aren't allowed inside, but trust me when I say you won't be disappointed!! It's a sight to experience 🎄

We visited the Stetson Mansion today for the Christmas Spectacular Holiday Home Tour and it was fantastic! Highly recommend the guided tour with JoAnn to learn more about the decorations and a little history about the house. Her infectious personality and storytelling made our visit even more enjoyable. Each and every room, even the kitchen and bathrooms have a dedicated theme. The attention to detail and the creativity behind each room is truly amazing. I especially loved all the inspirational sayings sprinkled throughout the house. Definitely a must visit and our family will surely make this an annual holiday tradition.

Fabulous Christmas decor and a surprise pop-in by JT the owner who does all the decorating. Try to go to the 7:00 p.m. guided tour as it is special. Each room has its own decor starting with angels and cardinals in the Grand Staircase in the entry, Department 56 layered on a tiered tree, Snobabies filling up a bedroom and the kitchen dedicated to military heroes, just to name a few of the rooms. Such a beautiful sight it is still racing through my mind two days later. A must tour in the central Florida area as it is also one of Florida's most historical homes and the first to have electricity installed by Thomas Edison himself.

An amazing beautiful home with the most wonderful Christmas decorations anyone could imagine. It’s said that it takes 3 months to decorate the home and the passion and love shows. The only downside is that there is no photography allowed inside the home.

My sister and I took our mother as a Christmas present. She absolutely loved it, she had to use her walker to get around. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful getting her though it because we had to take our time to get her through. We would recommend it anytime.

The Proprietor spent 3 months decorating this home in a Christmas theme. Each room was intricately decorated, and we participated in a delightful guided tour. The Proprietor himself even came to visit and gave us some heartwarming background stories about the mansion and some of the decorations. Southern Hospitality at its best--when I had to take a break from walking and standing, the other Proprietor brought me a picture book of the mansion rooms, and I was able to scan the QR code to get my very own audio tour while sitting comfortably on the beautiful front porch. :) Truly a stunning home!

We did the Christmas Tour! Very much worth it! Beautifully decorated for Christmas! Kim was our awesome tour guide.

We came to the mansion because it was on a haunted house list. When we arrived the house was locked but the gate was open. There was a sign outside that says scan for self-guided tour. We went to the door to see if it was unlocked and it was locked. We walked around the house a bit and found a staff member. Explain to her that we were interested in seeing the inside of the house because it was on a haunted tour list. She was not happy that it was on a haunted house list and did not seem very friendly with us. She didn't explain that the self-guided tour was the Christmas tour and was $35 per adult and $20 for children. We felt that was a bit high. We took some pictures on the outside and when we went to leave she had locked us inside the property by closing the gate up and locking it. The staff member came to the gate to unlock it for us because we were sitting in front of it and there were people outside trying to come in for the tour. I think this property could be ran better than how it is being run. Follow us for more great reviews ™

Absolutely Amazing tour of this beautifully restored mansion, but to personally see the amount of Christmas creations strategically & thoughtfully placed in each room, nook & cranny was such a treat! It's a highly recommended must visit, & we plan on coming back again to experience the artistic joy w/ our visiting family. Great surprise!

It's expensive, but we really wanted to go to see the over-the-top Christmas decorations that this place is known for. We signed up online a couple weeks ago and paid then. Yesterday, the day before our visit, we received an email that revealed some things about our visit, set for today. It recommended using restrooms off property before arriving. The mansion's only restroom facility the public could use was a portable outdoor unit out in the parking lot. The other thing the email warned against was arriving more than 20 minutes early. It said parking was limited and the gates would only be opened at certain times. This was not an issue as we were early and parked easily and without hassle. We assembled briefly on the porch and started touring the inside of the mansion. Photos were prohibited inside (also stated in the email). We moved from room to room on the mansion's first and second floors as we listened to the tour's audio on our phones, which were browsed a lnk provided in that email. The audio program was the owner's own narration of the decorating job that he took the past 3 months doing himself. We thought the decorations were spectacular and captured both the Christmas spirit and the Stetson family history. Also there was a nice patriotic salute to servicemen near the end. It was all so well done and made us glad we visited the "mansion that hats built" today.

Wow!!!! Came here for the Christmas decorations and got so much more! The mansion by itself is unbelievable, the time and dedication it must take to maintain this beautiful historic home is beyond comprehension! The Christmas decorations what can I say WOW! Each room has a unique style and theme to it. Hard to pick a favorite room or design! We crossed paths with JT the owner and designer of the displays. He is a very talented artist and designer. He took the time to chat with us about his experience in making this come to life! This one of a kind place is very special from the architecture of the house to the Christmas display. I wanted to say thank you for sharing your home and your talents with the public! It was amazing!

It was a wonderful experience. We decided to go canoeing/kayaking around the island and it was really great the wind was out to get us but beautiful scenery nonetheless. The camp sites are open and maintained no power but you're trying to escape from that so I enjoy it.

The best Florida state park I have stayed at. Quiet and serene with great manicured hiking trails. Best of all I saw zero trash in the park, even deep in the woods. I am almost afraid to post a review; I don't want to many people to know about it.

Used to love coming to this park. But thanks to hurricane and change of staff and management, this park is run down. They don't take care of it anymore. Every single trail is closed, camping closed, no ferry to the island. This park used to be wonderful but it has gone downhill. Please get a better manager and better staff!! The crew from 4 years ago used to be amazing. We boated in a couple of weeks ago and everyone was sitting around on their laptops.. This is such a shame and these people should be ashamed of themselves.

Only 4 stars because you have to use your own boat, no ferry anymore.

Really nice experience, the ferry to the island is free and they accept donations, everyone we met was super chill and polite. Turns out they also have what they refer to as primitive cabins for reasonable prices to rent out. Would easily return again with friends and donations.

We had a great experience as a family with young kids here. The entire park is beautiful and they have amazing bike trails as well as hiking trails for all levels. I would recommend booking a cabin online and staying for a couple of days to enjoy the nature, fishing and everything this beautiful state park has to offer.

We found this place by accident we were actually going to Blue Springs Park but they were closed because they were full. Our lucky day we found this Hidden Gem and put our kayaks in the water here and had a great time. Don't forget to visit the visitor center across the way, you can take a ferry over there and they also rent canoes and kayaks and have hiking trails.

I loved this little island approximately 40 minutes from Orlando. Free ferry ⛴ over only 6 at a time so you may have to wait. State park run by volunteers so be patient. Once you cross there are great areas to picnic and play and a little store with comfy rockers out front overlooking water. Dog and kid friendly and nice easy walking path through old growth and new growth areas. They also rent kayaks, bikes, and affordable cabins. I was on my way to Blue Springs State Park and they were full, this park is approximately 20 minutes from there and well worth checking out. I have included many pics. This place is amazing..Everyone is so friendly. The ferry runs every couple minutes.. The park rangers and staff make sure this place is clean and everyone is so helpful they even have boat and bike rentals. Wonderful camping sites. And cute cozy cottages. I will return here again and again. Wonderful hiking trails. For a nice bike ride or a quiet peaceful walk. They have a 5k trail anda 10k trail. And too see all the aninals..

Despite being a friday it was quite calm and quiet. The trails are well maintained and easy to hike. The recent rains had water up on a trail (which was marked as being a wet trail) at some places however it was still easy and in the lowest spots there were walkways in place. The cabins looked well maintained from the outside and were a easy walk from where you enter the park. As for price to enter, it was the best price, free, although they do accept donations. All in all a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

I truly enjoyed my visit to this park after waiting for almost three months for it to reopen, it didn't disappoint. The island is so serene and relaxing. The staff was all very helpful and nice. The park was clean and well-managed. Loved the short ferry ride and the trail hike . The nature trail was still closed but there are other routes you could take to get to the mounds, and the other side of the river. Saw different kinds of birds along the way. The Visitor Center is a great place to learn about the history of the island and its wildlifes. I couldn't recommend it enough, and it's only a short drive from Orlando!!! I will definitely be back.

This was the most wonderful day my son and I have had in a long time. You start with a short ferry ride to the island, captained by an extremely welcoming and informative park ranger. As you dock, there is a massive playground to your left, canoes to rent to your right, and just ahead of you is a building containing a ranger's station, a gift shop, and a visitor's center which is like a room of a museum (that alone held the attention of my 9 year old and myself for quite some time). Apon the suggestion of the ranger that ferried us over, we headed to the right towards the hiking trail. There are several miles of trails on the island most hard dirt roads but the hiking trail avgs 36 “ in width and involves some jumping and balancing but only to get around black muck filled low-lying areas (which only adds to the adventure). We saw an array of different birds on our trip, brave birds that were not startled by my excited son's voice. There is all sorts of wildlife in the island including deer, gator, and bear but we didn't run into anything of the sort. We spent 5 hours hiking and walking around the park. On our way back to ferry we passed through to camping area that boasted more than a dozen firepits, grills, and camping sites including cabins. There are bathrooms and showers situated in the middle of the large camping area. We decided that we will be renting one of those cabins before the summer hits. If you like fishing, look no further, there are two rivers and a lake off her shores. The only thing I regret is not having cash on me to donate to the park, I won't make that mistake next time (which could be today, they are open 365 days a year).

Very cool place to see a concert. We saw an Eagles tribute band and they were great. Theater is historic and only holds a few hundred people. Very intimate setting. We'll certainly be going back!

Our first time at the Athens Theater and we were so pleased with this historic gem! I was so impressed with the venue and the friendly people that work there. The Fleetwood Mac Experience was out of this world amazing! Super talented musicians who know how to connect with the audience. What an extremely enjoyable evening listening to a wonderful group of musicians. My hubby and I had a blast! Will definitely be back for sure!

I can’t possibly say enough great things about the Athens Theatre Youth Academy! My daughter started attending summer camps a couple of years ago and it has branched out into musical theater class and private vocal lessons. She has learned so much from their incredible teachers who really go above and beyond in their efforts with all of these kids from all varying age & skill levels and most importantly she has had the best time doing it! She is already counting the minutes until this year’s summer camps begin! Thank you so much for providing a safe, fun, inclusive environment for all of the local children to grow and to shine!

An awesome little venue, built in the 1920's, I have gone by this location many times in the past but had never been inside, I had the chance to see a James Taylor tribute inside and loved it, the acoustics were wonderful as was the environment

This is my 3rd play so far here and all have been very well done. They do many events here besides plays as well. It's really awesome our town still utilizes this orig theater and is still around after so many years.

What nice theatre, every seat is good, we went and saw "Fleetwood Gold" - superb performance!! I "do vaguely remember"😀 seeing the original group back in the 60-70s and Gold was right on with the music! The Athens was their very first gig, and now a return performance! And then to top it off, they go out front and meet the patrons... high class in my book!!

EVERYTHING about the theatre and the play CLUE was EXCELLENT! Every member of the staff was very nice and this historic theatre is beautiful! EVERY ONE of the actors gave a GREAT performance tonight. BRAVO! It couldn’t have been better. The show is well written and was engaging the whole time. The entire crowd laughed and cheered more than any performance I can remember ever attending. It really was WONDERFUL and I hope you hurry and purchase your tickets as soon as you’re done reading this so you don’t miss out. I may have to see this one again before it ends. And I love this theatre so much that I already have tickets to see Elf. Thank you ALL for a job well done and providing my friend and I with a delightfully enjoyable experience!

We went to see the rocket man show. It was an awesome show can't wait till next year when he returns again. There is plenty of parking and some nice restaurants within walking distance of the theater. We had a great time and you will too.

We had a rocking good time at the Athens Theater listening to the ultimate Pink Floyd show, the Surrogate Band. Super theater with great acoustics. Friendly people, great downtown area, plenty of restaurants to choose from. An overall great experience, and we will be back!

We saw "Misery" last night, September 29th. The play was wonderful, and the actors were superb. We were 4 "cousin" couples, and everyone really enjoyed it. The theater itself is very pretty, and the staff is terrific.

My sister and I were there last night for A Tribute to Prince. It was fantastic. Comfortable seating. Pleasant staff. Great show.

Went for the first time to see a tribute band to Kiss, and it was great! Very nice venue and it was on the smaller side which we liked. All the seats were good view. We will go see another show in the future.

Love this place. What a great way to see a show on a budget and introduce the kids to theater. Very friendly staff with fun shows available year round. Clean updated bathrooms.

I would give them five if they had an elevator. All shows have been professional level with extremely talented artist, beautiful sets and great variety. You can see the millions they poured into the restoration. It's a beautiful, well preserved piece of history. The prices are a little high for what's considered community theatre but it's worth it. Tip: if it's not a performance you need to watch the slightly obstructed views are a great savings but beware there is no elevator or handicap access to the balcony.

Such a lovely venue. Acoustics were spot on. We were in the uppermost row in the balcony still great viewing. Large parking on the side and municipal parking across the street. Beverage service as well...if so inclined.

A great organization. The folks that work/volunteer here are so much fun and delightful. The concert we saw was top notch and for an older theatre, the chairs and seating were quite comfortable. First class experience all around! Thank you.

Travelled to Deland from Palm Beach County for Brothers Again - Allman Bros tribute band and it did not disappoint! Comfortable seating, great parking and conveniently situated in walking distance to restaurants. The acoustics were good and their was a bar in the lobby and inside the theater for beer and wine. The restrooms were clean and the staff were friendly and attentive. Great venue!

WIsconsinites visited your lovely theatre to see Fleetwood Mac which was excellent! Major disappointment with large group of inebriated women sitting behind us. Loud talking & laughing entire show. Asked them several times to allow us to enjoy show but to no avail. Plan on returning next year but will try to get box seats

This place is so great. Now I'm not gonna lie, but it it's a small place. However the collection they have is extremely impressive. All of their snakes are amazing and are well taken care of. We saw snakes that I have only seen on tv but ones that I have always wanted to see. The main attraction is the venom extraction. We saw them work with a coral snake, copperhead, cotton mouth and a cobra today. I cannot tell you how impressed I was watching them work with those creatures. Before the show they had some snakes for everyone to hold and touch which was a great experience for my boys. There is a nature trail here that we unfortunately did not get to today, but will in the future. Besides snakes, they have turtles, geckos, lizards and alligators. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. Also a special thank you to both Carl and Mara (sorry if I butchered your name!), for taking the time to answer all of my kids questions. It really meant a lot to him and to us!! It was great talking to you!

This place is AMAZING! They offer an interactive experience with snakes (if you want) and the venom extraction is so interesting! Great explanation of each venomous snake, the process, and the different uses of the venom. The discovery trail is well kept and has a lot to see up close. A wonderful time for kids and adults.

Wer really enjoyed this center and will be back. It's educational for all ages, my daughter is 3 years old and us adults really liked the antivenom lab and demonstration. The outside discovery trail was great for our daughter to run around and explore with us.

The amount of venom the Dr extracts from the snakes is mindblowing. Never seen anything like this ever. Kids of all ages will love this place but try real hard to make it for the venom shows. Also don't forget the nature trail in the back!

Amazing! Carl, Mara, & Max were extremely knowledgeable/informative & very personable with each visitor attending. I am very impressed with this facility, & it’s clear this team has a strong, devoted passion for what they contribute, & how they go about doing so. Before & after their venom extraction showing, there are multiple venomous species of reptiles ranging from vipers, elapids, colubrids, & even helodermatidae to safely observe. I was finally able to observe a personal favorite, the Rinkhals (Hemachatus haemachatus) at their facility. They also offer nonvenomous species to observe, such as the impressive yellowtail cribo, & many tortoises! I will return in hopes of seeing their taipan next time, & I will continue to send my tours their way to help further educate individuals about snakes, the vital role they play in our ecosystem, & how their venom is used in modern day medicine. Thank you!

Really cool place to visit if you love reptiles. There's lots of snakes and has a nice outdoor trail with reptiles to look at around the walk. Place is clean and I was very impressed to see how healthy every single animal was!! That's awesome to see and I really appreciate the care they put in this place. The place isn't big, but you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend! 8 Stars

This place was great! I learned so much about snakes and anti-venom! They took the time to answer a bunch of questions for us! The owners are obviously very knowledgeable about snakes. They rescue turtles here too! We had so much fun! 🤩✨ Would definitely recommend! Thank you so much! ❤️

So cool! They do important work! Watching them milk venomous snakes to send to a lab for anti venom was the coolest, most informative , exhilarating display I’ve seen in any kind of zoo/museum/discovery Center. 10 out of 10, definitely recommend!

Super fun and informative experience! We were able to watch live venom extractions from multiple types of snakes as well as hold a rat snake and ball python. We spent approximately two leisurely hours checking out all the reptiles indoors and on a pretty nature walk I highly recommend The Reptile Discovery Center to people of all ages!

This is a great place. Clearly they care about their animals. The displays of live animals were interesting. We got to handle a couple of lovely snakes. But the best part is the venom extraction demonstration. Fascinating and unusual and a bit horrifying -- the snakes not necessarily delighted by the process. Questions afterwards clearly and respectfully answered. Recommend to everyone.

I brought my 10- and 7-year old sons - they loved getting to hold the snakes and watch the venom extraction process. Carl and Mara (who ran the exhibit) are as knowledgeable as I could imagine. Such a great experience, with incredible information about snakes and wildlife. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn more about reptiles and even those who would like to be less fearful of snakes.

This place COULD easily be a 5 star. It could be very pretty. We were RV camping so can't comment on cabins. We did not fish. Price was cheap for a reason. Only back in spaces. No wifi and no cell signal. (We have Verizon) NO amenities, not even a bath house. There are 2 bathrooms at the boat area but not near where we were camping. Also no fire ring, picnic tables or anything like that. Lots are small and close together. We had about 8 feet from our slide out to the neighbor. Temporary camping is NOT their thing. They are full of 40+ yo campers that are made permanent with scabbed on roofs, decks and porches. Behind our camper the bushes were full of grocery bags, cans and just general trash. I was told bears pull it out of the dumpster. It had been there a while. Would we go there again? Yes. The residents were nice. The location was pretty. Luckily my other half is a boss at backing in and made it with the narrow road. Can't beat the price. If there was a section for a perm trailer park and a separate section for people camping with larger lots and some perks like the fire ring, then definitely would be a favorite.

My Family had a great experience renting a boat and fishing for the day! The captains at the camp shop Were obvious experts. They did a great job of showing us the map, highlighting great areas to fish, and giving us a general framework for the flow of a good day on the water. We had a great time. Will return!

RV camping. For the bad: The sites are small and compact. Not very well laid out. There was a bunch of trash in the back of our site when we got there. There is no wifi or cable hook ups and Verizon had little to no service. Most campers are permanent residents. The water was discolored. Not sure if they have a shallow well or maybe a leaking casing but it tasted fine and gave no troubles. That being said for the price and the peace and quiet there I would go back but it would be nice to see them do some improvements. What little interaction I had with the staff they were very friendly.

Beautiful camp!! I just stopped to visit/recon for next year. Great looking restaurant. They had live entertainment on the deck (the guy was very good!). Camp sites look a little tight and t-mobile service is marginal to say the least. I am looking forward to trying this place out next year with cable Internet so i can work. Really a beautiful place and great location!!

We went out on a boat for my grandson's 5th birthday. We had a blast! Staff was very friendly, courteous, and professional. They went the extra mile and also provided us the necessary education for navigating the waters. Reasonable cost and friendly service. Highly recommend!

This past weekend my girlfriend and I stayed in cabin #12. This is an absolute gem of a place located near Deland. It’s not far from Orlando either. The cabin was absolutely perfect as were the staff. I challenge anyone to find another family owned business with this level of hospitality and knowledge about area fishing. This location would be perfect for a quick get away, camping or fishing trip or even a family reunion. Let’s just say, we can’t wait to come back.

Had a wonderful time here and want to say thank you to Bren, Debbie and all staff. We stayed in a backin site with our 42 foot class A Rv and was great. Very peaceful and quite just like old school Fla should be. If your looking for the best fishing, boating, bird watching and relaxing. You have found the right place. Did we mention the prices are incredible as well. Thank you staff we will be back next year. Highly Recommend

Basic campground. It has what you need at a fair price that is comparable to the limited amenities that they have. Bring your own fire ring. The sites are smaller but not too bad for backing in. A lot of long termers. The cell service is limited. I would stay here again if in the area.

Took my 3 boys and a friend out here to camp and fish just to pass the time and they had a blast. Countless memories, fish caught and fun times cherished. This has now become a landing spot for our family to visit and would recommend it to anyone looking for some good ole memories to have been made

Five stars! We went on a boat tour with Captain James and it was such a relaxing little getaway on the river. He got us really close to the wildlife and we saw all the things - Swallowtail Kites, gators, manatees, herons, and more. Felt good to be out in the sunshine. Thanks, Bryn for an excellent visit!

My work team and I had an amazing morning on the water with our Captain James. It was a great bonding opportunity and a chance to appreciate and enjoy nature. Our Captain made sure the experience was unforgettable and did everything he could to make us happy! Captain Bryn was an amazing host and made the whole day so special for our group.

Wonderful time this past weekend at Highland Park Fish Camp. Everyone super friendly and helpful. Plenty of live bait. Only downside was that the wind was howling, making casting a challenge. River was beautiful! We'll be back!

Very friendly atmosphere. The food truck chef puts his heart into everything he creates. The catch and release pond is a joy for any young fisherman. My grandson had a good time. As we were getting set up in the early morning, another young man already had a big bass on his line!

I did a half day bird watching tour with Captain David and it was incredible! Seamless process to reserve and pay. David was very knowledgeable and I had a great experience with him. Highly recommend!

Booked a two day fishing trip for my son from the California coast to give him a taste of the Florida his father grew up in. Checked into our rustic but totally accommodating and comfortable cabin before heading out for our pre-dawn rendezvous with Capt James. The trip would not disappoint. James knew right where to anchor us up to get into some great bass fishing. My son was blown away and what was to be a one day trip quickly evolved into two days. The next morning we launched out of the fish camp at daybreak for a day of crappie (known by locals as specs) fishing. Although deemed a slow day of fishing we still were reeling them in pretty consistently with weight tipping the scale at 2lbs on a few. Visiting places like Highland Park fish camp allows you to not only stop time for a spell, it will take you back to another era where people were content just to enjoy the simpler things in life and each others company.

We will definitely be back!! Came here for a 3 day cabin stay and pontoon rental. Cabins were cozy and included everything we needed for our stay. The pontoon boat ran great and was comfortable and relaxing. One thing I would like to really point out because I think it matters: the staff here treated us like family the whole time we were there. From James who was operating the bait shop, Ronny who showed us how to operate the boat and even gave us a detailed map and of course Bryn. We thank you all for hosting our family vacation and looking forward to visiting again!

Enjoyed a two day cabin rental and pontoon trip. Very rustic and quiet. Beautiful Lake and scenic views.

Pretty good museum. $10 and got access to both of their museums for 3 days. The downtown location is upstairs. Saw the Mellancamp exhibition. The Stetson location is two floors. They have the Outsiders exhibited here.

We like to visit the Museum of Art in Deland, FL. For $10, adults can visit two museums-one in the historic downtown area, the other across from Stetson University (within walking distance). Their exhibits vary, and you can find out about the current ones on their website. We especially like the museum stores, where they have some great gifts and souvenirs.

Went with my oldest child and we really enjoyed it. I paid $5 for admission and my teen got in for free since she was a student. The admission also included the other Museum in downtown DeLand. It's worth it, go check it out!

Highly recommend checking this museum out if you happen to be in town - a lot of surprising pieces can be found here I was sadly unable to visit their second downtown gallery, because I was short on time, but I look forward to seeing both in the future. Wonderful staff too, very sweet and informative

Finally went here after living here for a long time. Was beautiful, and they have something like a scavenger hunt where you have list of pics of paintings and makes you really admire the work.

As an artist, museums like this serve to re-inspire me, re-awakening my imagination and interest in art when it's gotten stagnant. Friendly staff and every artist will find at least one work of art in this diverse collection that inspires them. I found several.

I was so surprised! The quality of their contemporary art collection was filled with eclectic works of high quality. Now that this museum is on my radar- I will come back for more of their exhibits.

DeLand has a number of museums, but 2 are dedicated to traditional as well as contemporary art. They represent the major art museums in this small, but unique Central Florida city. DeLand has a wonderful vibe represented through art, music , restaurants and dedicated community members who make this a great place to live. And, the museums offer that element of culture which is readily available to anyone interested.

Neatly hidden on a small side street in downtown Deland, you’ll find Persimmon Hollow brewing. Located in a former warehouse, they’ve integrated a taproom and brewery into a welcoming space that feels open, but not too vast. Unfortunately, we arrived too late to hop on the pub crawl that was taking place to support local firefighters. The place was packed and selections were a little more limited than usual, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying a pint of their flagship, Beach Hippie IPA. IG: @crafty_fireman

Persimmon is our local brewery and I couldn’t ask for a better place to stop by after a long shift or a weekend trip through Deland. The beers are excellent, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere is super relaxed, with board games and plenty of homely seating. My favorite beer is the Beach Hippy or the Barley Wine.

We stopped into Persimmon Hollow Brewing today to escape the rain and to try a few beers. The selection on the menu was good so we tried a flight. We enjoyed talking to the affable bartender and we made friends with other customers we talked to at the bar. The clientele there was a good group. Our beers were great too, but there were more we wanted to try, so another flight. We found the ones we liked most, so we took some to go in cans to enjoy later. We turned a rainy day into a fun time at the brewery.

I’ve stopped here a couple times buzzing past the little town. I stop for the Barleywine. It’s a decent Barleywine. This indoor/outdoor atmosphere is super casual at this townie hangout. It’s one of those places that are perfect for what they are. You know that place you’ve been? Yeah, it’s like that.

Great drinks. The strawberry beer is my favorite. The game nights they do are always fun. It’s definitely a social brewery and a must go to.

Persimmon Hollow is the perfect vibe whether you want to chill by yourself, bring your laptop and get some work done or bring your whole crew. Comfortable, friendly and tons of options to drink. Drink sensibly but get weird! #findyourweirdos

This place is right on Austin, Texas' curtails. Beer is grand. You can drink sensibly. And. Best of all..... You can get weird. Well met. 🏆

Great selection of craft beer which my cousin and I enjoyed very much. And this is coming from a rather spoiled European beer "connoisseur". One can also get a tour of the open brewery and some more insights how they brew.

Hiccup… Great Beer. Great environment if you like garage style establishments. One wish was them at the glasses were chilled. Just the way I like to drink it. No food here but you can bring some in from the many food joints on the street and beyond. Good place to meet friends. Not too loud (4pm on Thursday)

Been to the one in Downtown Orlando at Lake Eola and loved it so why not stop at the original one while I’m in town, right?! Super cool and quaint. Super friendly staff. Had a Hollowtoberfest (their Octoberfest beer, obviously) and the Tom Hale Brown Ale. I’m a big fan of both. I will definitely stop in again the next time I’m here. They always have the coolest vibes and delicious beer and that’s at both the locations I’ve been to. So anytime your near any of the Persimmon Hollow locations and you enjoy drinking delicious beer you need to stop in and have a cold one. You won’t regret it!

Beautiful options with paved trails for bikers, roller blades, etc. I felt very safe walking alone as there were plenty of other people around.

The bike trail is beautiful, the walking trails are wooded. The restrooms have not been fixed since the hurricane, but there are plenty of porta pots. There is a small playground in the blessed shade and the train tracks run by, so if you time it right the kiddos can see the train go by. Pleasant place for a picning lunch as there are some gazebos on site, and a great place for a run.

Love this park. The 2 mile loop is perfect as the weather starts getting hot and it’s paved which is great. If you take the path under RR tracks and to the right it dead ends and doing both you get a little over 3 miles which is a great 1hr plus walk depending on your speed.

The lake is probably the best thing about this place, but you should definitely wear closed toe shoes around it, there are a lot of large ants and broken glass from bottles. There could be more signs pointing to the lake, we found it on a small trail just passed the railroad tracks. You'll also find a little swamp with lots duck weed and these two concrete spots, I'm not sure what they were for.

Nice park on the paved trail. Don't make the mistake we made, closes right at sunset. One day google should update their system to accept these types of hours.

Loved this park! We went for a walk with our Dog Baxter and it’s a great place to walk, run cycle. Very accessible paths which is helpful if you have a stroller. We will definitely come back.

The park consists on a paved trail looping around the whole park, and then multiple unpaved trails crisscrossing the middle through the woods and connecting various part of the paved trail. There is also a playground for children, it has restrooms, and also picnic tables. It also connects to the excellent Spring To Spring bike trail (by going through the underpass under the train tracks) that goes to Blue Springs and beyond (Gemini Springs, Green Springs Park, and New Smyrna Beach and Titusville).

One of my Favorite ways to get to Central 28 for a brew. Qudos to the awesome Volunteers who planted the beautiful tree at the turn around.

Beautiful little Volusia County park. Great walking trails, and an amazing sunset view. One of the few places in Central Florida to see the sunset over water. It also has a nice playground, and a bike trail that runs through the middle of the park.

We have parked here several times over the past 3 years to ride the trail. I only give it a 3 this time because the bathrooms have been closed down for quite some time now. Once they get the bathrooms back up and running I will give it the five star. Can’t really change clothes in a porta potty that’s 125°F in the heat.

Stopped with the pooch to take a walk, the trail marks are kinda worn out and confusing. I thought I got lost and was gonna have to sleep on this bench. Very nice area though.

Solid park for family fun or adventure. Spots on the trails that lead to the Lake feel wild and exciting while the paved trails and kids park/pavilion give a taste of the tamed outdoors. A little bit of something for everyone.

Nice park, the main trail is a paved loop trail with lots of shade this is about 2 miles. This trail is right off the parking lot, great for bike rides and running. There is also 2 trails Red and Blue that run through the inside forest inside of the paved loop. If you go through the underpass under the train tracks that starts a different trail, the spring to spring trail. This trail will take you to Blue Springs, this trail is paved and very wide great for road bikes, most of it is under the canopy of trees. It does have some elevation changes. There are lots of benches for stopping if you need to rest. This is part of the Volusia County Coast to Coast Trail System. There are two hiking trails off this paved trail that will take you back to Lake Beresford, If you are looking for a hiking experience you can see alligators, birds and flowers. You can also fish from there. I highly recommend this park it's great for being so close to the city.

Really nice place to walk your dog, bring your kids, or just go to yourself to have a good time. It has a 2 mile loop for walking and biking, which has a beautiful view of the surrounding nature. It has a playground for the kids and a restroom if you need to use it. But by far the BEST part of the whole park is the lake. (which is obviously why they named it lake beresford park lol) It has BEAUTIFUL views, with benches so you can sit back and enjoy the scenery. And this lake has much to offer. It has brackish water (slightly salty), which means there's some things you'd normally expect to see at the beach, but it's less crowded and (likely) far away than daytona beach. I'll list all the things I found: Schools of tiny fish swimming right next to shore Bigger fish jumping out of the water in the distance Lots of oysters and clams A (harmless) orange snake swimming around Adorable tiny crabs Small sea snails And even an alligator! By the way, if you're worried about the alligators, the chances that one will attack are very, very low. If you see one, You should admire it for a few seconds, then walk away and return when it's gone. edit: I should've included that, while still extremely low, the chances of being attacked by an alligator is higher if you don't make sure it know you can see it, and/or you run instead of walk slightly faster than normal. here's my extended advice as to what to do if you see an alligator. If the alligator is trying to stay hidden, it is likely hunting something. And it's VERY unlikely that it's you. If the alligator is far out into the lake, just speed-walk away, making sure it knows you see it. This should be the end of your trip to the lake until the next time you go to the park. If the alligator is close to shore, it's likely either just trying to get out, or hunting something there. In this situation, ALWAYS assume that it's hunting. If you have a child or dog or cat with you, it's far more likely the alligator is trying to get to them than you. In this situation, take your children, pet, and yourself, and run. Do not zig-zag; run as fast as you can in as straight of a line as possible. If the alligator turns out to be after you, and it gets ahold of you, It will likely do something known as a death roll. This is when they bite onto a limb, and roll to tear it off and slow the prey. If it does this, roll with the creature to avoid this happening. Attack it in the eyes with anything you can use. A stick, your fists, anything. When it lets go, continue running. Don't let this scare you from coming here. This is very, very, very unlikely to happen. There are around 7 unprovoked attacks per year. SEVEN. And if that happens, you have about a 1 in 2.4 million chance of being seriously injured.

A great place for hiking and biking! Trails are well maintained and main trails are paved and wide enough for passing. Bathrooms were fine and well tended. I highly recommend this park!

Great trail ride to blue springs.

This is a cool dog park with a lake. The park is divided for big dogs, little dogs, and a timeout area. There are bathrooms onsite. Benches are placed around the park for seating.

As of Sunday, May 5th 2024 There is a 6 maybe 7 foot Gator floating in the pond...i believe many senior citizens have notified FWC...BUT BEWARE FOR A SMALLER GATOR IF YOUR DOG ISN'T TRAINED AND RUNS DIRECTLY TO THE POND PLEASE AVOID THE AREA UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE... pictures below but the onlu spot in the pond is the gator

Not crowded. Very large dog park with minimal shade. It does have a dog water fountain but one is broken so I recommend always bringing your own fresh water system and shade if you can. Make sure to bring towels as pups with be sandy & salty 🙂

Great park to just let your pup run free, really large park, highly recommend going here. For the most park everyone is respectful here and plenty of cleanup facilities for your pet

Best dog park I've been to in awhile. It's nice, spacious and a lot of shade and seating.

Great park! Drive from port orange to go here. My dog loves it and so do the humans. Plenty of shaded picnic tables to set up at. The pond is wonderful and so far everyone seems to understand their dog and we have had no fights or issues. Theres an area for big dogs, another for small dogs, and another separate space for the pups who don’t quite get along with others or maybe have some anxiety. Whatever the reason/need theres a spot here where your dog can come enjoy the outdoors, run, and play!

The biggest dog park I've ever seen. My dogs love swimming the pond and thoroughly enjoy all the space to run. We are about an hour away and it's worth it for us to make the trip about once a month, it's that great here

It's a nice decent sized dog park, there's a section for big and small dogs. There are different agility exercises they can learn to do. I'm not sure if it gets busy but there was no one else there when we were there.

The largest dog park I've ever been to. Acres of beautiful grass. Large section for small dogs and an even bigger section for big dogs. The big dogs even have their own lake. Public restrooms on site as well.

My Dad and I attended our first Sunday service at St. Peter Catholic Church this past Sunday (yesterday), and we LOVED it! Such a beautiful Church and an awesome service. This is our new Catholic Church to bring my father to. 11 o'clock service was not very crowded and we were directed to an awesome pew section. That you to the two people who have my Dad and I a great experience and Mass service.

Father late to Mass and all congregation waiting for him to arrive (30 minutes +). I don't come often to this church but I have noticed how things change since Father Medina took charge. The church is losing members for the lack of involvement.

My family and I have been attending St Peter’s faithfully for almost 2 years. My daughter goes to St. Peter’s school as well, across the road. We love St. Peter’s. For me personally, I love the reverence with which the mass is treated. It’s a beautiful church but I love the feeling I get when in there as well. Christ is truly present, I believe. Everyone has always been very friendly and welcoming to us. The office staff is nice and I have had several one on one meetings with Fr. Medina. Our son passed away 9 months ago and he has been a blessing and help when we have needed him. Fr. Frank is very sweet as well and I love hearing stories of his life in his homilies. All the deacons are friendly and I have loved what they add to the service. As for the children, my daughter loves Fr. Medina who also does the children’s service. It’s a truly welcoming place and I’m thankful we have them!

This is a wonderful Parish with exceptional Priests offering Mass. What I love about this church are the parishioners and the active participation in Ultreya. There is always room for more people to join!

Catholic churches are always the best places to go

St. Peter Church is the most welcoming church I have ever been in! The people are so friendly and the atmosphere and music is so holy and welcoming! There are 42 Ministries, and each one is so beautiful. There is something for everyone to volunteer for. Father Tom is one of the sweetest priest my husband and I have ever met he not only is very holy but he appreciates everything anyone does to help the church and its people. Thank you st. Peter Catholic Church for being what you are.

We used to LOVE this church. But with the arrival of a new “pastor” in July 2018 that all changed. The whole welcoming atmosphere and vibrancy of the place is gone. So many parishioners have left it’s troubling. Everything now is fire and brimstone. It’s like we are going backwards not forwards under the “leadership” of someone who seems to want to undo all the wonderful things the previous pastor did and “reform” this church into an ultra conservative ORTHODOX church. Honestly with the bells and incense it’s like walking into a 1960s church... no doubt a Latin mass is next on the horizon which might make a few folks very happy... but most are leaving. Very sad indeed!!! And another interesting thing is right after I posted this review, a person who has NO OTHER reviews whatsoever with and with an obviously made up name, added a glowing review of the parish directly in opposition to this one. You should not pay attention to people who only have one review. That is a real clue!!! Scammers!!!! I’ve done nearly dozens of reviews! To be taken seriously you should do more than one, on various types of places, or no one will believe anything you have to say!

This playground is the best! My girls could spend hours here! They love the zip line and the monkey bars! They have really cool swings. They have things for younger kids and older kids. Picnic tables and Pavillion. Just a nice park to go to!

Such a great place to take the kids on the weekend or day off from school. It’s a popular place… and was busy. But because of the size it never felt like everyone was on top of each other. I have been to those places and it is not fun. The giant “fort” kept my little guy (7) entertained and had plenty of places to hide… and he also loved the zip line.

Went here with my friend and her son. The play area was clean and well kept. The ground was bouncy and comfortable to walk on. There were so many different options for kids, ranging from small to older kids. There is even a separate area for the little ones. Definitely the best park in the area.

Fantastic Park for the kiddos. It has benches around for adults, bathrooms, and a water fountain. My favorite part is that the playground only has one entrance/exit so I don't have to worry about the kids wandering off. This park has so many things to play with, we are often there for over an hour, the kids are bummed when it's time to go home.

This place is great! Fun for all ages. It's closed in,has a toddler area, swings, rock climbing, and so many places to hide.

We come here often to meet people with our hedgehogs and this place is perfect for this. The park might be very busy but the pavilions opposite the playground are always very open. They are covered so even if it's raining we are good. We stayed there today for three hours the weather was so perfect and it's January!

One of the best playgrounds in this area. Worth the 30 min drive from my house. Very well kept, lots of equipment to play on for kids of all ages/sizes... and big enough for adults to go on the equipment to play with their children without being cramped. Dedicated area for little ones also. Entire play area is gated with only 1 entrance in/out, lots of seating throughout & shade also... very well thought out layout.

Great park for the kiddos. Only one way in and out. Lots to do. My kids all had fun. We stayed until they kicked us out. Played hide and seek after dark.

What a great little museum in DeLand! The Vietnam era patrol boat outside is such an incredible sight to see as well!

Small but very educational museum. They were actively restoring a military plane while we were visiting. My military obsessed son (7) thought that was awesome. One of the gentlemen took the time to explain what they were doing and how. Would recommend stopping by.

Small but very interesting. Free but survives by donations. Volunteers give tours and very knowledgeable if exhibits. They have Navy and Air Force exhibits, which are up close exhibits. This is my third visit and I've learned something interesting every time. WWII and Vietnam represented.

The wealth of knowledge these great Veterans have is amazing and very honorable. They need good funding to keep this place going. If you can help... please do. It truly is a wonderful thing they are doing.

This place was awesome! The tour guides were really knowledgeable an friendly. Tons of history and lots to take in. We were there for an hour.

It is designated a historic landmark. Very cool. Unfortunately it appears to be permanently closed. What a shame!

An absolute hidden gem of military history right under our noses. While not much to look at from the street, both the small main building up front and the larger hanger out back contain a treasure trove of military memorabilia, photographs, and aircraft that you would not expect to find in this area. The Vietnam era patrol boat on-site is under restoration but can be toured, and the F-14 Tomcat on-site is an absolute treat to see up close. The star of the show, however, is absolutely the world War II era Avenger torpedo bomber in the back hanger, which shows all the hard work and love that went into restoring it.

Awesome place to visit! Chris was awesome and shared his vast array of knowledge on the exhibits during our tour. I was amazed and surprised by the size of the planes. They are huge!

For all of you who have kids who need to learn about "WW Eleven" (World War II) visit DNAS Museum as soon as possible. The docents are great and the collection is incredible. TOMCAT to Avenger to PTBoat it is all great. Free but DONATE!

This is a hidden gem. A bunch of local volunteers created something truly extra ordinary. My kids loved it, too.

Museum is still closed; however, we took a historical walking tour from that location & it was awesome!! Can't recommend highly enough!

I enjoyed my visit to to the historical home named after the first owner. It has a rich interesting history and some unique features to the home. I highly recommend a visit especially if you enjoy history or architecture and design.

Visited on the Free Museum day - well worth the drive. The interpreters really brought the home to life, providing a grounding to all the information. Collection of antiques and explanations were interesting. House was beautiful as well, and we appreciated how the details were highlighted in the talks.

It is closed for about another year to restore. Would like to have known that on the website. The civic center that is next door, had a lot of good information, though.

Beautiful museum with rich local history.

Went on the monthly bus tour. Saw some beautiful homes I did not know were in Deland. We also stopped at the museum in Lake Helen and saw some of the historic houses. Finally had lunch at Sinatra's heard some of the history of Cassadaga and had some time to explore.

It's been closed for 3 years since Covid. Now closed for renovations!! When it reopens definitely a must see!! $5 entry.

Awesome place to put in boats to the St. John’s River. Park is clean, there are trash receptacles, outdoor outhouses and we bring our 2 dogs with us on the boat. So it is pet friendly.

Park was clean. Is a good place to go with family. Went to watch the sunset. Will go back.

Under construction so equipment going and minimal parking, but I will definitely come back to see the boats go by on the St John River.

It's a great place to go eat lunch or just to sit and watch the water and boats float by. Very peaceful and relaxing. The bathrooms are very clean and the people that go there just seem to be all around nice happy people.ive never had a bad experience there it felt uncomfortable by any person that's ever been there. My grandson dropped his toy in the river and some people on an airboat seen it and came right over to save the toys life. Made my 2 year old grandson very happy.

4 different boat ramps all nicely maintained with docks. Plenty of staging area. Parking can get limited but we did not have an issue. Bathrooms onsite are clean and well maintained and are not just an outhouse.

We use this boat ramp and picnic area all the time. We love it there. Always clean.

It's a pretty dirty park. Fishing is okay, but expect to lose a lot of tackle getting snagged constantly. Despite having three signs "PARKING FOR PAVILION USE ONLY", The boat people park there on the weekends and take up the pavilion parking. The staff is rude and the mowing people plow through the dirt not caring who or what they hit with dirt, sticks, and rocks.. The boat people also filthy up the restrooms.. They're at least semi- clean during the week. The folks that hang out there on a regular basis are really nice, even though the director, Tim Baylie is not. He treats the regulars badly.. There is no place to charge your phone because they turned off the power at the pavilion. The restrooms are locked up at 7:00 and there's no lighting.. They took out the Porta potties, so if you're boating or fishing after dark, you'll have to find a tree.. We used to go there from Silver Springs to fish and cook up some food, but since they turned off the power, we can't plug anything in. We won't go back..

We found ourselves the only people in the clean and well-maintained parking lot here one quiet spring week day, loving this peaceful boat ramp and this pretty stretch of river. The area around the ramp itself is free of trash and the dock is easy to tie up to and quickly trailer your boat on and off of. My beau and I loaded up our picnic and headed out for a romantic lunch among the lilly pads, and the scenery did not disappoint. Along the way we even caught sight of a rainbow, a pair of bald eagles and a baby alligator!

I don't have a boat, but that doesn't mean I can't fish! I've caught quite a few nice fish off the bank here to keep my zen frame of mind. Most boaters in the channel are patient with those of us who respect their right of way. The park itself has plenty of parking and lots of room for people to spread out and enjoy the river. I love this park!

We were on our way to Blue Spring and use Ed Stone Park. This ramp is quiet, accessible, and you don't have to pay for parking. Bathroom very clean. It was very easy to launch and retrieve the boat. Totally recommend to use this Park and boat ramp.

easy access to the St John's River for boats and kayaks. Sea wall provided for fishing and chilling out.

We are very fortunate to have such a good stadium to see baseball games. I look forward to seeing all the upgrades coming in the near future and feal possibly more baseball will be played here maybe even the state High School championship

Great stadium to watch college baseball, comfortable seats, lively atmosphere, and a great concessions stand. Parking can be tricky, but asides from that, great place to watch college baseball.

Very nice ballpark! New grandstand behind home and down 1st and 3rd - comfortable seating and clean bathrooms. 320 down both lines. Would park behind right field or center and not in the closest lot as those vehicles get nailed by foul balls...

Field looked great to first time visitor. Nice stadium and good views of Field. Due to tourney there were lots of people, so line was long at concession stand and men's room needed paper towels picked up more often.

Nice ballpark and I doubt there is a bad seat. It is a great mixture of an old ball park with modern features that has preserved some of the "charm" of a bygone era.

Very clean and well maintained ballpark. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Recently renovated with much more comfortable seating.

Best place to watch stetson play ball. Clean concessions and even cleaner bathrooms. Seats are far enough apart to have enough space for taller people.

Lucky to have a Baseball park like this in DeLand. The city workers do an excellent job keeping that field in perfect playing condition. Well done. My hats off to them.

We love St Barnabas! My daughter went to their school and my wife and I were married there. Fathers Brian and Comforted are both absolutely wonderful. It's a beautiful church attended by equally beautiful souls.

They do a lot to help the community at faith at work

Beautiful church, beautiful people. This church is definitely alive. They offer contemporary and traditional services. My husband and I got married here in 2017. We don't attend every week because we live a bit far away.

Sunday gives you three choices, the old the new and the 11 am service with the traditional choir. 2 rectors. 2 deacons, caring congregations. Beautiful old building. Thursday 12:10 service for those on the go. Go to the website, listen to a couple of the sermons. You have everything to gain, nothing to lose.

Beautiful historic church..friendly people..Rector caring and pastoral..the parish is conservative, but unfortunately it is part of the national Episcopal Church which is too liberal for me. I have since left the Episcopal Church because of their liberal social agenda. but a nice parish with lovely music and liturgy..good for families..

Terrific art program. The students adore the teacher who inspires and truly teaches. It has a good athletic program as well. It is strong on academics and far better than public school.

I have been joining in Morning Prayer for past month from Queensland, Australia and have been encouraged by the teaching given by Dr Brian. I also like his relaxed outdoor setting with Ginger, the unseen dog, plus the chooks clucking around. In Australia we only call the young of poultry chickens, or else what you eat. I join in the earlythe cook chicken . hours of the morning.
