Plan to use two days to see everything in this museum. Thoroughly full if history. Native American area, HUGE gun collection, western art gallery, cafe, private collection areas, etc .. and very nice gift shop with a case of authentically made turquoise jewelry. Very well kept museum. Memorabilia from the Irma Hotel, roulette table and the wheel. We are seniors and paid $22 each and that includes the 2 day visit.

It’s definitely worth your time to go out of your way to go to the museum. I don’t know how else to describe it, but unbelievable. If you enjoy viewing firearms, you should probably plan on staying there all day. There’s so much to see that it will take you most of the day to go through the museum. We’ve been there twice and definitely will be back again.

Such an amazing place full of history. 5 museums featured in one complex. There is no way to see everything in one day and that is why you can keep your ticket and you can come back for day 2. The Cody Firearm museum should be on your bucket list to see. It has over 10,000 firearms that cover hundreds of years. Absolutely amazing and well laid out.

We spent 2-3 hours at the museum and felt like we got what we paid for. A world’s class western art exhibit, a phenomenal gun collection and a good briefing of local natural history. Buffalo Bill was not a draw for me. That mart of the museum was nicely done and we sped through looking at historical pieces. What really is the gem here is the discussion of geology, flora, fauna and the people (not just Buffalo Bill) but the Indigenous and the settlers. Would have loved to see more on Trapping, Louis and Clark, and the expeditions that shaped this part of the American West. The Plains Indian exhibit was very nicely done and included some contemporary issues. We would recommend this museum to anyone headed to Yellowstone (especially the art museum). Because you will get a picture of what you will see but it is no where near the true beauty of the land.

A must see if you like western history and curious about Buffalo Bill. I didn't know anything about Buffalo Bill before I arrived. However, after I left I felt knowledgeable enough that I could accurately share some facts with others. Plenty of exhibits! From art, natural history, firearms, live birds, Native Americans and so much more. I really like the layout of the firearm exhibits. They have plenty of information regarding how firearms work with videos and side exhibits. One thing they are missing in this exhibit that I would have like to know more about is the composition of the ammunition powder and how that has evolved over the years. I only noticed two hands-on exhibits developed solely for kids. Unfortunately, Buffalo Bill's home and playground was not accessible during our visit. Food court provides heath options such as sandwiches, salads, and soups. Dining area is quite large. Admission price makes this museum accessible for a couple but it may be difficult for larger families or out of reach. Maybe the museum should consider children free since really exhibits are mostly enjoyed by adult patrons.

Absolutely gigantic with something for everybody! We easily spent a weekend here, which could have turned into an entire week. The entry fee is reasonable for how large, clean, and interactive everything is. Nothing was broken and all exhibits were well maintained. We came on the off-season when some activities weren't offered and still left more than happy. I'd love to come back some day!

A great museum, we could have spent days there. A wonderful collection of firearms that are well organized and documented in detail. The Buffalo Bill section was very interesting too. Very friendly and helpful staff, Debbie was outstanding! When we asked about the history of Cody, she gave us a very interesting and informative history lesson. Well worth the drive from Yellowstone.

The Buffalo Bill Center of The West was one of the top places on my list of stops to make on my five month RV journey of the Midwest. I was here thirty two years ago when the museum only consisted of the Buffalo Bill Museum and the Firearms museum and it has grown now to five museums in one location. The five museums are The Buffalo Bill Museum, The Plains Indian Museum, The Whitney Western Art Museum, The Draper Natural History Museum and The Cody Firearms Museum. Plan on spending a very full day, or very possibly two full days going through the five museums. If you like the old west, this is a must see place on your bucket list...

This place is phenomenal. No wonder they give you a two-day pass. If you like the West, Western cowboy culture or anything associated with it, this place is a must.

Really cool place. You need a lot of time here. We were on a tour and given only 2 hours to enjoy the complex and eat lunch. There are 5 museums on multiple floors plus a raptor sanctuary and show. Absolutely no way to do it it 2 hours.

How to describe 5 museums in one? Amazing for starters. Firearms Museum is incredible with thousands of guns. The Gattling and Tommy Guns are my favorites. Plains Indian Museum is so well laid out and informative. You'll learn a lot about our early history and the role that the Indians played. Buffalo Bill Cody Museum, all you ever wanted to know and more. Enlightening and informative. Whitney Art Museum holds some breathtaking works. I'm not a huge art fan yet, even I was impressed. The Natural History Museum, my favorite, will enthrall you, especially kids. Staff, especially Security are very friendly and informative. The entrance fee is good for TWO days. Take your time and enjoy all of it.

We've had this on our bucket list when we planned to visit Cody. From the outside, you'd think nothing of taking an hour to visit. NOPE, this place is HUGE. 5 incredible Musuems tucked into 1 building of of history, fantastic interactions, clean, and the most in depth Museum we've ever been too.. 4 hours and only 3 sections discovered. We NEED to go back while we're here and discover the wonders of the other 2 sections. This is a BUCKET LIST item. We HIGHLY Recommend this place.

This museum is a must-see. 5 museums in 1. And if you are interested in guns, they have a Ton of them. Very interesting with all different shapes and sizes and some cut away guns to show the mechanisms. Unique. And you get a 2 day pass since you'll need it!

Pretty cool random place we saw on our way out from Yellowstone. They have done a great job with show casing the cabins and the information about them. The staff was really nice and the lady that we bought the tickets from was really entertaining. This was a cool random find. If you have time to visit it’s a quick hour to see some cool old cowboy things.

It costs 10 dollars per person. It was really cool, apparently he takes the actual log homes and rebuilds them on the site. It was very informative.

The old trail town is tucked away a couple blocks off the main drag through Cody. Neat collection of old buildings all relocated from across the region into one location for you to walk through. A plaque adorns each log cabin telling where it was from, the history of the occupants and it is decorated as it would have been when in use. For the kids there is a small little roping area with a miniature calf that the younger ones enjoyed spending some time at, the actual reading of the plaques and walking through the buildings I believe is more geared towards adults. The town is nicely done and if you are a fan of reading the rich history and seeing the museum like displays you will enjoy this

Old Trail Town was a really neat experience. It gave a glimpse into the historic wild west. It was fun to walk through the reconstructed town and see the artifacts that have been collected. Highly recommend this stop!

Nice place to see the old cabins and the history of Sundance Kidd, Butch Cassady, and other outlaws.

I loved seeing displays without tags everywhere. It’s nice to look at an intact room as it would have looked. So many well-preserved buildings and artifacts. The woman at the front was very sweet.

Still as good as I remember from 39 yrs ago. They have added more pieces. If you have kids this is probably best museum especially if tired.

If you are interested in wild west history, it's worth to visit here. Many original buildings and items are displayed.

Pretty neat place, has some good history here and informational plaques. Would've loved to have period dressed interpreters to liven up the experience. Overall a fun stop to get that old west feel.

Original cabins of original homesteaders in the area. On site designed by Buffalo Bill Cody. Interesting graves and historical pieces to explore and experience. Very worthwhile. Took us 1 1/2 hours but could stay longer to read more!

Old Trail Town is a fascinating place to view relics from the settlement of the western US. Great care has been taken with preserving and displaying the collections. While there are displays of beautifully made clothing and other items by the original inhabitants of our country, there is no mention of the atrocities committed upon native nations to secure the western states for Euro-Americans.

A must see/stop if you are in Cody, WY and have 1-2 hours and love old west history. Staff is very friendly. $12/per adult entry fee.

We had a great afternoon touring this old west town. They have done an amazing job of reconstructing these old homes/businesses and filling them with the same era housewares. Don't miss this if your ever through the area.

I visited Old Trail Town a few days ago, and had a lovely experience. The ladies working there were knowledgeable and friendly. One lady even taught me to lasso a cow! The exhibits were pretty interesting. I would recommend it, if you like history (which I do!) They even had a cute little souvenir shop in the general store.

Incredibly well preserved cabins, weapons, artifacts from a different age. Walking through feels like I've gone back in time. The interior museums have much to show and the history of the people buried there is intriguing. Worth the drive for sure!

Excellent place! They will come to the parking area and we pick you up in a golf cart and take you to the dam and education center or you can walk on the pavement to the areas. When you are ready to return to the car, you can walk back or ride back in a golf cart. Easy stop for pressed pennies or to get your passport canceled. Very knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Small book store to shop if you would like. You can walk across the dam and get photos of either side. This is a quick 1-2 hour stop to give you a break on the road from Cody, Wyoming heading into the eastern entrance to Yellowstone.

You go through the tunnels in the mountains to get here which is cool. Parking is plentiful and there were free golf cart rides to the dam/visitor center from the parking lot and back. Though it's not terribly far it was nice on a hot day not to walk. Tips are appreciated though not expected. The views of the dam and surrounding areas are spectacular. And the visitor center is very neat with lots of information and videos about the dam and surrounding area, history and such. Also a cute gift shop with lots of unique items. And they have a smooshed penny machine which I love. Very friendly people working/ volunteering. Worth a stop.

This is a dam neat place to visit 😉 very beautiful scenery and a nice visitor center with lots of info and historical artifacts. Its a little bit of a walk to get from the parking area over to the dam / visitor center but there is stand with a button you can push over by the parking area you can push and one of the friendly staff will drive over with a golf cart and pick you up.

The Buffalo Bill dam is only a short ten minute drive from Cody and is one HECK of a view. Not only are the views of the reservoir of the damn itself just gorgeous, but the sense of vertigo you get from that narrow steep drop on the back side of the dam is half terrifying, in a good way! What a marvel of engineering done decades and decades and decades ago! The visitors center is chock full of great information and fascinating exhibits. From a chief engineer with nothing more than a high school education to the original vision by Buffalo Bill to harness the power of the river, definitely worth a stop!

Really cool stop. Got a golf cart ride from BILL 😁 who is AMAZING! The visitor center was informational and had a little shop. The sights are beautiful, DEFINITELY STOP HERE.

We stopped here on our way to the East Entrance of Yellowstone. This is a free visitor center with a short video and exhibits on how this dam came to be. The views were stunning and it was great to learn a little bit of the history of this area.

Impressive piece of engineering, especially for the early 20 century! It's worth to stop and spend about some time here enjoying the views and the story of building it, full of hardships and bad luck.

This was our first dam experience. Just wow! The history and details inside the visitors center is great. We happen to snap our pic on the bridge when the wind gusts picked up. Scary feeling but pretty cool. Had to hold on to my cell with a death grip as it felt like I was going to lose it with the wind gusts. Highly recommend. Can't wait to check out the Hoover Dam next week.

Interesting historic site that can swiftly be visited on the way from Yellowstone to Cody. Parking lot is a little stretch away from the visitor center. The visitor can opt for walking a few feet or be transported by golf carts. There is no entrance fee. Clean restrooms are available there. In the inside one can learn something about the history of the dam, that enabled a productive agriculture in this arid landscape around 1900. Also, information is available of the wildlife in the region and about dinosaurs having lived there millions of years back. Of course, the dam itself can also be observed, but watch out for your hat, because it's pretty windy on top of the wall.

This place was really cool. There is a thirty minute video you can watch about the construction of the dam at the visitor center along with quite a few displays which are very interesting. There is also transportation to and from the parking lot to the visitor center.

Don't just drive past - stop at the Dam - the views are fantastic. There's a small shuttle to take from the car park with a friendly helpful driver or you can walk - It's not far. The visitor centre & restrooms are spotless. Friendly staff & exhibition on how the dam was built. Well worth a visit

OMG.. This is a GREAT view and historical adventure at the Buffalo Bill Dam & Visitor Center, Cody Wyoming. Just the MASS and depth of the Dam from the top is mind blowing. The visitor center has a lot of information based on the historical build and engineering. Please add this to your bucket list. This is Free entry. You NEED to see if this and put on your bucket list.

So glad I live in Cody and get to visit here often. It really is a nice “don’t miss it” place. Be sure to watch the short video about the building of the dam 🦫 The dam is very full and not much water is being let out to the shoshone river today.

We really loved the dug up gun museum. My fiance is less of a history and gun nut than I am, and she also really enjoyed it. We both felt there was a lot of power behind seeing these artifacts as they were found; you could almost feel the story and the history behind them. From guns of the American revolution, to the old west, to the world wars, it was amazing to be so close to real, unvarnished history, it was easy to imagine the lives and stories of the people who had held these guns, some of them likely all the way to their deaths. We went on June 6th, the anniversary of D-Day, and were particularly touched by a 1911 pistol which had been damaged by a German bullet, and a stack of bullet damaged helmets recovered from Normandy beach. The dug up gun museum is definitely a place for more than just "gun people," though there's a lot for them there too, but it also a place where you can feel the history and then lives of the people who used these guns in incredibly trying times throughout history. I would plan on spending around an hour there, but you could do more or less time. It was also open later than many other Cody attractions, which was very convenient.

Fascinating free museum! History from all over the US thru many time periods. As expected from a “dug up museum” most are not going to be completely intact, but some are …complete with rounds in the chambers in some cases. Come out and watch the shootout— and stop by before or after (open until 9pm) to see the unearthed artifacts. Chat with and ask questions of the fun knowledgeable collector and treasure hunt thru the display for articles from your state! And if you can leave a donation so that everyone can visit for free!

I stumbled upon this place after dinner and had no idea what I was walking into, but I'm so glad I did. Its an amazing collection of dug up and found firearms from the last few centuries until WW2. So many oddities and rarities you won't see again. Each piece features short information and stories which makes it great for anybody with or without knowledge. The icing on the cake for me was the owner. He is amazingly friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the collection. If you stop in be sure to ask questions about the pieces as he has so much more information and countless stories he can't fit on the small cards in the cases. Highly recommend anybody to stop in, just be sure to take no pictures! He takes donations as entry fees so be sure to leave something if you enjoyed it as much as I did. I hope I can stop back in someday.

Well worth your time if you are a local or just visiting Cody. You can buy and take home an antique gun if you are in the market. Nice selection of old Winchester rifles and Colt pistols when I visited. Interesting firearm displays throughout this shop. No disappointments here.

Love these obscure 'object' museums put together by passionate people who enjoy collecting and talking about history. The owner has amassed a huge number of old guns I've never seen or heard of (but I'm not a gun aficionado). Pepper guns? Fob guns? Palm guns? He needs a bigger space to display them all. You won't be disappointed and it is a must see if you will be in Cody. Donations accepted! Also, ck out the Hammer Museum in Haines Alaska too!

Entrance free. Donations appreciated! Not very large of a room, but a ton of cool things. All the display cases are packed with relics and guns, some over a century old!

I hate to give it a great rating because everyone will show up there and want to visit while I do. This place is the best! The displays do not disappoint, and neither does the atmosphere. There is not enough space in Google to compliment this place. It is a must see for sight seers, collectors, history buffs and just people wanting a cool place to see some real cool stuff . The self guided tour is donations only and worth at least $20/person.

My family and I stopped and really enjoyed this place. I had a great conversation with the owner who is very personable as well! Great collection, great history, and overall great pick. Thanks for taking the time with me and my youngest son! (Who loved your pooch too!)

This place is a hidden gem! Very interesting collection that you just don’t see anywhere else. I’ve been to a plethora of firearm museums and I’ve only ever seen one like this. The artifacts are fascinating and the story’s behind them are incredible. The artifacts at this museum tell a story and a damn good one at that. Nothing else like it. You don’t have to be a “gun guy” to enjoy this museum. The Hours are incredible, and it’s free! Leave a few bucks as a donation and go experience this place.

If you have any interest in history or firearms this is the place to visit. The collection is outstanding I only wish I'd had more time, there is not only exhibits but in most cases there's a detailed description or details related to each object where found and the manufacturer and country of origin. The owner is a subject matter expert on the contents of the museum. It's also free but please leave a donation to preserve this segment of history.

This is a must see in Cody! The owner, Hans, is very knowledgeable and even more interesting to talk to! You will see all kinds of guns, weapons, and artifacts in this museum that you won’t find anywhere else. If you miss this museum your will forfeit a large part of the true Cody, Wild West, experience.

So much fun! If you go anywhere near Cody and do not attend the Cody Nite Rodeo then you are missing out! We went twice during our 4 night stay in Cody. This will definitely be one of the highlights of our 6 week cross country trip, especially for our kids! Thanks for 2 awesome evenings and showing us we love the rodeo!

We had a great time at the rodeo! Bull riding, barrel racing, and so much more! Paid a little extra for the deck seating, totally worth it! Comfortable bar stools and high top tables. The announcer did a good job keeping the crowd engaged and the contestants put on an exciting and fun show. So happy we included this in our vacation. A must do, if you have the opportunity.

An absolute must-do if you’re staying in Cody! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed everything…the announcer, the music and all the events. Great family atmosphere! I haven’t been to an event in awhile where there was public prayer that shared the gospel, pledge to the American flag and singing the National Anthem. Truly refreshing!!

What a great time! Must go! The announcer and the rodeo clown are hilarious. The trick rider cowgirl was awesome! Glad we went!

Lots of fun. Dress warm, it can be chilly and windy there. Even in the summer. Best "inside" secret....walk to the opposite side of the entry and sit in the "Buzzard Roost," those are the best seats in the house, right in front of the gates.

We visited the rodeo on 7/5. Such a fabulous time with the family. Announcers were fun and kept the event entertaining. Loved watching the kids in their events as well. Barrel racing and bull riding were our favorite.

Final night of 2021 rodeo was rock solid. Great contestants, great announcer, but the true element that MADE the night was the DJ. Best DJ of any rodeo or professional sporting event of all time. Clever, funny, amped things up. Standing ovation for a great season. Thanks all!

If you really love rodeo, or want to experience your first the rodeo performance itself is fine, although when putting on a nightly show for months you simply aren't going to have the biggest names or top competitors for most of those showings. But the competitors who were there when we attended were easy to root for, and we really enjoyed the junior competitions (barrel racing and roping). The employees we interacted with were all friendly, and if it's your first rodeo the $5 guidebook is well worth the price. The facilities are adequate and the surrounding landscape is stunning. Whether you enjoy the non-rodeo aspects may depend on your sociopolitical persuasion (and/or tolerance for the views of others). The pre-rodeo prayers and flag-waving portion is prolonged and neither nuanced or subtle, and while it probably feels reassuring to some, it might seem to border on self-parody to others. Finally, the rodeo clown banter did not go over well with our group. Our group was made up of individuals ranging in age from 14 to 71, evenly split between men and women, and contained people who grew up in small-town Wyoming as well as those from the Midwest and West Coast, (several are rodeo regulars). Everyone in our group felt the attempts at humor fell surprisingly short, and sometimes felt downright mean-spirited. I'm sure some will find it their cup of tea, but given the diversity of our group I want to note it for others. I would not recommend against the experience, but you should know what you are getting into to make sure it's worth your money and time.

The Cody Night Rodeo in Cody, Wyoming, was an exhilarating experience that left me thoroughly entertained. The nightly rodeo events provided a fantastic showcase of skill and courage, keeping the excitement alive throughout. The announcer, with his charm and wit, added a unique touch as he confidently announced the events while mounted on his horse. The combination of adrenaline-pumping bull riding, impressive roping, and daring barrel racing made for a great show. Whether you're a rodeo enthusiast or just looking for a thrilling evening, the Cody Night Rodeo is a must-visit destination that promises a memorable and fun-filled time.

It’s a great show with cattle lassoing, horse skills, bull riding and lots of antics. A full on traditional rodeo run nightly for 89 years. Food available and quality could be improved.

We had a great time! My first time to a rodeo. Our Aflac team had seating in the Party Platform section. It was a great view and we were able to relax. The seats are a bit uncomfortable, but if you figure out a way to tilt back with them a little, it works - or you can alternate between standing and sitting. Chili cheese nachos were great, the middle line seemed to be much faster than the right line(yes they do take debit/credit cards at the concessions). The show was great, the clown and the other host were very funny. We all had a memorable experience.

This is the first time we came to a rodeo show and we didn't know exactly what to expect. I must say that we really enjoyed what we saw. A professional show, the rodeo clown was funny and added a lot to the fun, a full two hour show that definitely gave great value for the price, which is not expensive anyway. It is definitely recommended to come to this exciting performance.

The rodeo was pretty entertaining. Also the seats were nice because they had back rests. The rodeo was fun and it definitely gives a good Wyoming experience. This was my second time and I’ll probably go again some day.

One of the most fun rodeos we've ever been to! Very friendly staff...great rodeo clown (sid) and announcer. So much fun for the whole family. The rodeo ran about 2 hours. Great little shop for merch. Snack stand was a little pricey. Great time for everyone !

Had a great time during a mid-July weekend evening rodeo. Great riders and amazing horses. Clean family fun with great wholesome values proudly displayed . We had fun, and I enjoyed capturing the atmosphere and sport on camera.

Great, fun night out. Rodeo, bucking bulls, very entertaining! Food & drinks booths and a little shop where you can buy rodeo souvenirs (sweatshirts, etc.). We got there on the rodeo bus, which picks up & drops off at various points in town (hotels). A little tip, we sat on the opposite stand to the entrance, as it’s where the majority of the action is!!

From art, natural history, firearms, live birds, Native Americans and so much more. I really like the layout of the firearm exhibits. They have plenty of information regarding how firearms work with videos and side exhibits. One thing they are missing in this exhibit that I would have like to know more about is the composition of the ammunition powder and how that has evolved over the years. I only noticed two hands-on exhibits developed solely for kids. Unfortunately, Buffalo Bill's home and playground was not accessible during our visit. Food court provides heath options such as sandwiches, salads, and soups. Dining area is quite large. Admission price makes this museum accessible for a couple but it may be difficult for larger families or out of reach. Maybe the museum should consider children free since really exhibits are mostly enjoyed by adult patrons.

Absolutely gigantic with something for everybody! We easily spent a weekend here, which could have turned into an entire week. The entry fee is reasonable for how large, clean, and interactive everything is. Nothing was broken and all exhibits were well maintained. We came on the off-season when some activities weren't offered and still left more than happy. I'd love to come back some day!

A great museum, we could have spent days there. A wonderful collection of firearms that are well organized and documented in detail. The Buffalo Bill section was very interesting too. Very friendly and helpful staff, Debbie was outstanding! When we asked about the history of Cody, she gave us a very interesting and informative history lesson. Well worth the drive from Yellowstone.

The Buffalo Bill Center of The West was one of the top places on my list of stops to make on my five month RV journey of the Midwest. I was here thirty two years ago when the museum only consisted of the Buffalo Bill Museum and the Firearms museum and it has grown now to five museums in one location. The five museums are The Buffalo Bill Museum, The Plains Indian Museum, The Whitney Western Art Museum, The Draper Natural History Museum and The Cody Firearms Museum. Plan on spending a very full day, or very possibly two full days going through the five museums. If you like the old west, this is a must see place on your bucket list...

This place is phenomenal. No wonder they give you a two-day pass. If you like the West, Western cowboy culture or anything associated with it, this place is a must.

Really cool place. You need a lot of time here. We were on a tour and given only 2 hours to enjoy the complex and eat lunch. There are 5 museums on multiple floors plus a raptor sanctuary and show. Absolutely no way to do it it 2 hours.

How to describe 5 museums in one? Amazing for starters. Firearms Museum is incredible with thousands of guns. The Gattling and Tommy Guns are my favorites. Plains Indian Museum is so well laid out and informative. You'll learn a lot about our early history and the role that the Indians played. Buffalo Bill Cody Museum, all you ever wanted to know and more. Enlightening and informative. Whitney Art Museum holds some breathtaking works. I'm not a huge art fan yet, even I was impressed. The Natural History Museum, my favorite, will enthrall you, especially kids. Staff, especially Security are very friendly and informative. The entrance fee is good for TWO days. Take your time and enjoy all of it.

We've had this on our bucket list when we planned to visit Cody. From the outside, you'd think nothing of taking an hour to visit. NOPE, this place is HUGE. 5 incredible Musuems tucked into 1 building of of history, fantastic interactions, clean, and the most in depth Museum we've ever been too.. 4 hours and only 3 sections discovered. We NEED to go back while we're here and discover the wonders of the other 2 sections. This is a BUCKET LIST item. We HIGHLY Recommend this place.

This museum is a must-see. 5 museums in 1. And if you are interested in guns, they have a Ton of them. Very interesting with all different shapes and sizes and some cut away guns to show the mechanisms. Unique. And you get a 2 day pass since you'll need it!

100% helpful and friendly. I called to get info about camping near Chief Joseph Scenic Byway. They gave me a map of the service roads with directions where to go and free stickers! Love them.

Excellent place! They will come to the parking area and we pick you up in a golf cart and take you to the dam and education center or you can walk on the pavement to the areas. When you are ready to return to the car, you can walk back or ride back in a golf cart. Easy stop for pressed pennies or to get your passport canceled. Very knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Small book store to shop if you would like. You can walk across the dam and get photos of either side. This is a quick 1-2 hour stop to give you a break on the road from Cody, Wyoming heading into the eastern entrance to Yellowstone.

You go through the tunnels in the mountains to get here which is cool. Parking is plentiful and there were free golf cart rides to the dam/visitor center from the parking lot and back. Though it's not terribly far it was nice on a hot day not to walk. Tips are appreciated though not expected. The views of the dam and surrounding areas are spectacular. And the visitor center is very neat with lots of information and videos about the dam and surrounding area, history and such. Also a cute gift shop with lots of unique items. And they have a smooshed penny machine which I love. Very friendly people working/ volunteering. Worth a stop.

This is a dam neat place to visit 😉 very beautiful scenery and a nice visitor center with lots of info and historical artifacts. Its a little bit of a walk to get from the parking area over to the dam / visitor center but there is stand with a button you can push over by the parking area you can push and one of the friendly staff will drive over with a golf cart and pick you up.

The Buffalo Bill dam is only a short ten minute drive from Cody and is one HECK of a view. Not only are the views of the reservoir of the damn itself just gorgeous, but the sense of vertigo you get from that narrow steep drop on the back side of the dam is half terrifying, in a good way! What a marvel of engineering done decades and decades and decades ago! The visitors center is chock full of great information and fascinating exhibits. From a chief engineer with nothing more than a high school education to the original vision by Buffalo Bill to harness the power of the river, definitely worth a stop!

Really cool stop. Got a golf cart ride from BILL 😁 who is AMAZING! The visitor center was informational and had a little shop. The sights are beautiful, DEFINITELY STOP HERE.

We stopped here on our way to the East Entrance of Yellowstone. This is a free visitor center with a short video and exhibits on how this dam came to be. The views were stunning and it was great to learn a little bit of the history of this area.

Impressive piece of engineering, especially for the early 20 century! It's worth to stop and spend about some time here enjoying the views and the story of building it, full of hardships and bad luck.

This was our first dam experience. Just wow! The history and details inside the visitors center is great. We happen to snap our pic on the bridge when the wind gusts picked up. Scary feeling but pretty cool. Had to hold on to my cell with a death grip as it felt like I was going to lose it with the wind gusts. Highly recommend. Can't wait to check out the Hoover Dam next week.

Interesting historic site that can swiftly be visited on the way from Yellowstone to Cody. Parking lot is a little stretch away from the visitor center. The visitor can opt for walking a few feet or be transported by golf carts. There is no entrance fee. Clean restrooms are available there. In the inside one can learn something about the history of the dam, that enabled a productive agriculture in this arid landscape around 1900. Also, information is available of the wildlife in the region and about dinosaurs having lived there millions of years back. Of course, the dam itself can also be observed, but watch out for your hat, because it's pretty windy on top of the wall.

This place was really cool. There is a thirty minute video you can watch about the construction of the dam at the visitor center along with quite a few displays which are very interesting. There is also transportation to and from the parking lot to the visitor center.

Don't just drive past - stop at the Dam - the views are fantastic. There's a small shuttle to take from the car park with a friendly helpful driver or you can walk - It's not far. The visitor centre & restrooms are spotless. Friendly staff & exhibition on how the dam was built. Well worth a visit

OMG.. This is a GREAT view and historical adventure at the Buffalo Bill Dam & Visitor Center, Cody Wyoming. Just the MASS and depth of the Dam from the top is mind blowing. The visitor center has a lot of information based on the historical build and engineering. Please add this to your bucket list. This is Free entry. You NEED to see if this and put on your bucket list.

Buffalo bill state park is a hidden gem for sure. Clean, ample space for rv and tent sites. Vault toilets, but clean. The only downside is the coin operated showers at $1/ 3 mins which is not only pricey but a little unnecessary since you’re paying upwards of $40/night+ for camping…but I understand since it’s near Yellowstone.

Campsite #29, incredible views, water and rocky beach right off the site. Got VERY windy once evening hit. Campground was full but quiet and appropriately spaced out!

We had a blast at Buffalo Bill Reservoir. The water is cool, but enjoyable. The rocks and fossils, drift wood around the beaches made this old rock hound happy. The kids played all day, the wife read a book. Total success! Stunning part of world is Cody Wyoming…we shall be back for more fun.

When you call staff is helpful. Lovely views. Definitely enjoyed our visit here. Plenty of space for day use and campers alike thru out the park.

Absurdly gorgeous here. This is the old town of Marquette, later was flooded and is now this resivoir. There is camping here that can be reserved on line. The dam has a visitor center during summer hours. Great fishing here with boat ramps to drop your boat. If just here for a day trip or a over night trip it is well worth your time.

Speaking as someone who has chosen to work here for my third summer, commuting 90 miles each workday, to do so: " I love this place!" The staff is awesome, very helpful, and goes beyond duty to help boaters, fishermen , swimmers, campers and general visitors have an excellent adventure. I enjoy the geology, cloudscapes and wildlife of the area. Second only to the interesting folks who actually turn off the highway to spend some time here.

Picture perfect, quiet family park with unbelievable views. Beautiful campsites right on the lake (or river). Campsites & grounds are extremely well maintained have ample space between each site and they’re all paved & level with shade trees perfect for hammocks!! North Fork Campground had lots of open fields, playground, firewood available and donation based & area is well patrolled by State Park employees.

We went late in the season and were happy to find all of the amenities were still available. The sites were very clean and well laid out. Would highly recommend giving this site a try. The cell coverage was great with AT&T which was great. They have a library building to borrow books while you are here. They even had firewood for a donation. A very well maintained site.

Love ❤️ this State Park! The views are amazing, the lake is beautiful and the Rangers & Volunteers are all very helpful & there when you need them. Swimming, boating, fishing can all be done here. Full hook-ups to primitive campsites, did I also mention the views, WOW!

We stayed in the mountains for a week and didn't even know this was in our "back yard" til a few days in on the adventure. Take some snacks for the furries!!

Great view!! Animals just come to you. But people please keep your god dam trash either in your car or in the buckets that literally standing next to you! You really don’t need to show off how far you can throw your empty beer soda and Red Bull cans into the canyon.

Beautiful historic site on the Nez Perce fight and Flight of survival from extermination. Such beautiful country full of so much history.

Besides gorgeous views, there is an interesting and sad story behind this place. In 1877, 700 Nez Perce Indians with two thousand horses escaped from 200 American soldiers pursuing them, avoided at the same time an ambush on the pass, set by another army detachment, and broke into the Great Plains. A month later the Indians would still be killed at the Battle of the Bear Paw:((((, but here they did manage to fool the American troops.

An hour from Cody. Arrive early to feed chipmunks and watch the sun come up over the breathtaking mountains. Great place to stop on the way to the North Yellowstone entrance.

Amazing lookout over mountain ranges. There are plaques that explain where the Nez Perce tribe ran from the soldiers. There are 2 restrooms also. Highway 296 (Chief Jones Highway) is an amazing and beautiful drive to get from the East entrance to the Northeast Entrance of Yellowstone and to Beartooth Pass.

Stunning views! A must see. Public restrooms. Friendly ground squirrels (take non salted nuts/seeds to feed). 8k feet above sea level (drink water to avoid elevation sickness).

Food was great. Definitely try the Parmesan risotto and the wood fried pizzas. Good service, but a little slow (think they were short staffed) My fries were soggy (they even looked soggy). Our server did bring us a new order of fries ( but did not taste fresh, prob just refried some of the old ones) Overall, good experience and good food 👍🏼

This was pretty good! Wish my seafood pasta dish had had a bit more noodles. But it was beautifully presented and service was great. It was a nice place to get a bite to eat. I love taxidermied stuff so I enjoyed looking around the walls as well.

Were it not for Google Reviews we would have never visited the Trailhead Bar / restaurant. I'm glad that we trusted the reviews of other patrons because the food was great. However, while the desserts were tasty we found them lacking considering the expense. ( Should the photos attach as hoped, the desserts shown were $18. The beer was perhaps the tastiest we've had at any location. )

Good spot...our family group enjoyed the outing very much...I had a beautiful ribeye steak, but unfortunately it wasn't seasoned well at all...everyone else enjoyed their dishes very much

Overall Great experience! My wife and I traveled from Fort Worth, TX up to Cody, WY for our Anniversary and her Birthday. We stopped in two different times this weekend and it was Amazing! Food and Service were both great. Harmony was very kind and quick to our needs. We will definitely be stopping in here for future visits!

We had a great evening last night! The food was wonderful, service was great, and this large building has a room for every event you may need a space for. I will be referring people when they ask, 'Where should we eat in Cody?' Thank you!

We tried Trailhead this past Saturday for the first time. While the food was out of this world good, the restaraunt itself was not. The table was sticky, the outside of our water pitcher had black crunchy spots stuck to it, and the walls had peeling paint. Live music and wait staff were ok. Food comparable in cost to Chico’s Resort in Montana, without all the courses Chico’s provides. Regardless, for an eating establishment in Cody, WY, I was impressed with the food.

The best dinner restaurant in Cody and it’s not a competition. Innovative menu, impeccable service and an inviting ambiance. Menu changes seasonally so be prepared to experience something new if you haven’t been in a while. Pictured is the beef tartare. Other notable menu items include the Brussels sprouts and the bison New York strip

Delicious! The elk medallion was perfection! Don’t miss the Brussels Sprout appetizer and the orange-infused cake dessert!

Great place to eat, service and atmosphere was top 3 notch. After dinner we went next door and listened to some live music. The beets were amazing.

We were here twice on a short trip to Cody. Easily our favorite dinner spot! The house made soup was delicious and extremely flavorful. We also got the guissepe pizza and their truffle risotto. Nothing disappointed! The waitress, Harmony, was helpful and sweet. I asked for a virgin mocktail (I'm pregnant) and she knew exactly what to get me. We look forward to returning next time we're in town!

Staff was friendly, prices on the high side. There are some veg-friendly options, but there are a lot of dead animals on the walls, so that might be a turn-off, but otherwise nice atmosphere and clean. The servers checked back several times to make sure that everything was good. Happy hour until 4:00 for smaller portions. Best pizza I've had in a long time. Try the "Fungi" but leave off the meat.

Great restaurant, both in terms of food and service. My wife and I went there for dinner (call ahead, they're likely to be full if you're just walking by, at least at dinnertime), and we were very pleased. Everything was good, in particular the pizza and the crème brûlée (one of the best we've ever had). Our server was wonderful, went into enough detail when asked but didn't over explain. Other reviews mention it, but expect to spend at least $25, or more realistically at least $35 per person. These aren't cheap eats, but they are definitely good eats.

Stopped in after a day's "touristing" around Cody. The Trailhead was recommended by a lovely person at a store and she was correct, the food was great, tasty, and reasonably priced. Decor and atmosphere are modern. Only knock was the service but in fairness I think they were a few staff sort on a Sunday night. All in all I do recommend.

Trailhead is an easy go-to choice in Cody, WY. We’ve tried nearly everything on the menu and haven’t been disappointed with one thing. Food, drinks and atmosphere are all top notch! My only complaint is that the location is one street from the main drag in Cody because more Cody visitors need to know about it…they’re missing out!

Absaroka Bay RV Park is exactly what it is named, an RV Park. And, it is good at what it is. Sites are pull through, except for a row of back in for smaller rigs, narrow, and long enough to park sideways in front of, or behind, the rig. All are full hookup with 30/50 amp service. Water pressure is good. Sewer connections are not screw in but there are stones at each site to secure the hose. WiFi connection was good. I was able to work with no problems. Verizon cell service was 2 bars. The main roads are blacktop. Sites are gravel and close to level. There is a strip of grass and a nice picnic table between sites. There are no fire rings. As mentioned, sites are very narrow. My sewer connection was in my neighbors space. There is a centrally located bath house that was very clean. A small dog area is local ear the dumpsters. The staff are very friendly. This is not a campground. It is a home base for exploration of Yellowstone National Park and the surrounding area. We would definitely stay here again. We were in site G13 from 7/25-7/30 2023.

Very small sites, one of the only RV parks I've been to that with the slides out it nearly hits the electrical post. Both my slides hang over parking area and protrude into my tiny sitting area. The wifi works good, thats a plus, but none of the TV stations that the park says are available over air are available. Laundry is 2.50 to wash and 2.50 to dry, the highest I've ever seen. Its reasons like these that I would normally prefer to stay in state parks, you get way more room for a fraction of the cost.

Very friendly staff. Warm, welcoming and genuinely enjoy what they do. We rented F8 for $55 a night hoping the sites were not quite as snuggled together as Google Earth showed. The satellite view wasn’t misleading, they are close. Even though the sites are pull through, the road separating sites is equally tight as I watched two different campers pulling trailers learn as they worked at it to get in. You’re reminded you’re in town by the infrequent sound of aircraft and the major road nearby. Not terrible, just there in the background. Water pressure was roughly ~60 p.s.i., 50 amp AC service steady, sewer connection is non-threaded and the WiFi was strong. The site we had was reasonably level with firm underfoot. All sites are pull-through but let me say it again, they are tight. A Class A pulling a toad would be well served to connect the toad in the street. Just not worth the risk of getting pinned in or worse…. Lastly, because everything is tight, there’s few trees, no fire pits, no cooking on park tables, no stakes, no mats on the patch of grass separating the sites, no pet fencing on the grass and toad parking is a bit squeezed. Regardless, it’s still a very nice place operated by very nice people and I’d stay here again!

This is an RV/sardine park. You have 10 feet of space between rigs. My trailer is 38' and barely fits in the pull through site with my truck sideways in front of it and literally 6" from the hitch, it's partially on the road. The laundry is $2.50 per wash and $2.50 per dry. I would go on but I don't want to turn this into a rant. There are other parks in the area with more room to actually stretch.

Nice park, nothing fancy, kind of tight with very small grass area. When we pulled in they put us in a site that just wasn't right for us. Went to the office, they looked at their books and found us another spot, that makes it worth four stars, the service. Clean restrooms and laundry room. Kind of reminds me of the song King of the Road.

This has been an awesome place to stay for us! Dang near hospital clean facilities, laundry, and extra parking for vehicles if needed. The staff is welcoming and will answer any and every question you have to the best of their ability. Cody, WY boasts 2 entrances to Yellowstone both within under 80 miles. The east entrance is the most accessible and also happens to be almost completely free of road work and just stunning views. The RV park is literally within walking distance of town(1mile ish to the middle of the main drag). The Buffalo Bill Center is less than 2 miles away. The town also boasts a surprising array of food options as well. Blanca Tatanka, Trailhead, and Rosa and Ruben’s (as Texans we absolutely approve of this taco truck which is also next door to the park) and that’s just to name a few. I highly recommend this park. Convenience is so nice when traveling and this park, and location, provide that in spades. Well done Absaroka Bay!

This was a nice find, just at the edge of town for a week of beating the roads. Always had deer walking around the park and this place was perfect. Close to everything, and the week just disappeared. Will be back next year, we loved it. ALSO the RODEO is amazing, so if you come out during the summer months you get a great show.🤙😊

Wi-fi was excellent. Pull through sites. Full hookups. We stayed about 2 weeks, used the park as launching point for Yellowstone. Yes, the sites are a bit close together but we were pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews that getting our (32 ft) rig parked wasn't too bad. I completely get why the rocks are there. Their grass is nice and guests would 100 percent drive over it and kill it (I saw a few guests come close, even with the rocks to protect it). Because it's pull through, you can see the rocks and avoid them so it's not a huge deal. Nicest RV park in this area (Cody/ the east entrance to Yellowstone). And the only one that seems like it can handle larger rigs. The ladies in the office were very kind and friendly. They even accepted a package delivery for us, which was very helpful. Would stay again the next time we're in the area.

Nice very clean. some pull throughs for larger 5th wheels are a little hard to get into and out of depending on how other campers park. Some rows are designed for larger rvs and 5th wheels. Staff us great!! Enjoyed all of them everyine was very friendly we had our own community of rvers by first night. We would stay there again. FYI. When we got into Cody we were in the middle of a huge thunderstorm. Driving passed the KOA the trailers had a foot of water flowing under then. We we got here ALL rvs were high and dry undernneath. Great drainage

Watch out for the small boulders at each site. We were there late in the year. Hence, fewer sites filled and the boulders did not present a problem, But when the park is full they could be very hazardous! The internet was fine. the streets were paved and the sites were level.

Nice campground overall. Clean bathrooms and shower house. Sites are small but ample. We actually had 2 sites since we don't need a pull through. One site for the camper one for the truck. Charged for just one site. Quiet overnight. Tip for the ladies shower: the fan is on a timer dial by the door. It was really stuffy in there when the fan wasn't used

The Wild West Spectacular is indeed a SPECTACULAR and amazing show. Beautiful sets. Great costumes and acting and singing. Great show tunes. Local history is woven into the production. If you happen to visit Cody, you must take in the show. Definitely a show for adults and children alike. I highly recommend it.

Book tickets to this now for when you will be in Cody! You can see this during the day around the 4th and in the evenings other times in the summer. Check their website. We loved it and all the seats are good. During the intermission you could buy a sasparilla from a character on stage and take photos with the cast. It has a fun atmosphere and is kid friendly (within reason as it is still 2 hours of sitting). They have food you can pre-order to eat during intermission and concession snacks/ice cream. Great show and great performances!

A must see experience while in Cody! The Wild West Spectacular is immensely enjoyable. It’s hard to believe that so much talent was assembled in a small town like Cody. The show is perfect for families and adults. It’s entertaining and informative. It’s funny and artistic. If you have a night to spend in Cody, you should definitely catch the show.

A must see when staying in Cody! A true slice of hometown Americana. An abundance of talent in this local theater makes it a pleasure to watch. The great set and costumes add to the enjoyment. The night even starts with an air of authenticity as an obvious working cowboy welcomes the audience to the show, complete with cowboy hat and chew in his cheek!

The Wild West Spectacular truly is a SPECTACULAR production! A highly recommended stop even if you need to detour to get there! Wonderful singing, FANTASTIC dancing, terrific acting, beautiful sets, an original story, local history, and an excellent selection of classic show tunes that will have you tapping your toes and dancing in your seat! What more could you want in a show?! We had such a wonderful time, I can’t say enough good things. The Cody Theatre is a great space, featuring comfortable seats, yummy concessions, and a slightly slanted audience set up so there’s not a bad seat in the house! But the performers were the heart of the performance, creating a truly magical and memorable show you’ll be sure to love as much as we did! This show is sure to have you cheering “Yeehaw”!!

Let me start off by saying that I generally do not enjoy theatre or musicals… But this was one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen! You don’t have to enjoy theatre to enjoy this show. It’s really well written. The sets and costumes are great and the acting is spot on. It’s an engaging performance that will keep you hooked and entertained throughout the entire show. It’s a nice way to teach a little bit about the history of the old west. There’s something for everyone at this show. You will not regret going. This is a must do if you’re in the area.

This is an intimate, professional, humorous, and totally enjoyable event. We had a great time. You really get to know the charecters of Buffalo Bill, Annie Oakley, Wild Bill and others. If you're anywhere near Cody, save an evening for this. You'll love it!

Great Show! We enjoyed everything from the historic theatre to the fun refreshments. We were impressed with the creative approach to telling the story of William Cody and his adventurous spirit, and even more impressed with the talented cast. Your trip to Cody should include the Wild West Spectacular!

Our family had a great time at the Wild West Spectacular. It was just the thing to help celebrate a family birthday while on our Out West vacation. The cast was so very sweet to announce the birthday and sing to the birthday girl!

The Wild West Spectacular was wonderful! An entertaining, lighthearted story of Buffalo Bill and many real characters of the west and our town of Cody. This is not just for visitors, everyone in our community needs to see this show! My daughter and her two girls, age 9 and 2-1/2 loved every minute of it. It's a must see for all. You can get a "Sweets" lemonade, candy or popcorn and set back to enjoy the show!

Neat little museum, cool history of Cody

Love love love this little museum!! One of the employees was a life long resident and was able to share personal stories of her family, dating back generations!! We had a wonderful time and definitely recommend this stop!!!

I LOVE this store! He has a little bit of something for everyone!! The best selection in town of women's, men's, & kids Western wear! Lovely perfumes and colognes! Nice boots, jewelry, etc! N he really couldn't be a nicer man!! Make sure if you're in Cody, you stop by and grab a few things! Don't forget to say hi to Moses, The cutest Heeler ever!!

I'm a country western performer out of salt lake. I needed a new hat for my performances. Being in Cody, I thought it would be great to have a Wyoming cowboy hat. I was there with 3 friends. I was trying on a variety of ways when the sales person belligerently said quit trying on hats unless your serious about buying one. This embarrassed me in front of my friends and was completely uncalled for. I asked him if he would buy a hat without trying it on and I was serious about buying a hat. But not from here. Complete unprofessional. Plenty of other places to buy a nice hat.

They have what Western stores usually have, but that's not the point, the guy working there is so friendly and helpful. What's more, this is a huge store, so even if all the Western stores sell the same brands, this one may have more designs.

The owner is a great guy. I met him when I came in a couple days ago. We had a great conversation with our similarities and he is very friendly and helpful. I love the playful dog in there too. I am an airline pilot from CA and turns out we have roots from the same area. I really enjoyed my visit. Will definitely come back next time I am in Cody!

I'm sure it's a great store. It states it's open, but the last 2 times we have been there, it was not open. They need to clarify hours and have them on the door also.

Stopped in to get a hat and they didn’t have the style I wanted. The owner sent me to another store that had more of a selection. Excellent Cusotmer service.

Very nice store, very nice staff ... but, buyer beware! Many items are China made. We did find one brand that was Made in USA - but we were VERY disappointed that a place called the Cowboy Palace had so many China products. Change buyers and I'd go back and gladly pay a little more for products from U.S.
