The Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada boasts of both prairie and mountain landscapes, abundant wildlife species, and diverse vegetation. This unique national park has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an International Peace Park, and a Biosphere Reserve due to its different habitats such as prairies, forests, tundra, meadows among others. It offers breathtaking views of the Rockies that meet with flat prairies, a stunning lake and castle on hilltops.
One of my favorite National Park. Not as busy and more quiet than other National Parks in Alberta. Nice variety of trails for all to enjoy nature. Beautiful lake and cute village to wind down and relax.

Beautiful! What more can be said. So many amazing hiking trails. Family friendly or more advanced. Lots of washrooms available at many different trails heads or near one.
Amenities in the town are great. I've always had friendly and good service anywhere I've gone, be it a restaurant or a shop. Great picnic spots and day use areas around a beautiful lake.

A lovely park with some epic views! We recommend Cameron Lake, Bear's Hump Hike, and the views from the Prince of Wales looking back over the water. If you leave here and drive north - make sure you stop at the Grumpy Goat for some great ice cream, too..!
Ryan Smith — Google review
A place for short getaways and serenity with few options of meals within the area but no fast food chains. However there are good fried chicken, ice creams and burgers around. All within walking distance. Get a cruise down the shoreline for an amazing view of the mountains on the Waterton lake or drive a little downhill to explore some creeks and lakes or to Prince of Wales hotel for an eye opening view.

Oh my goodness! In the 30+ years I've lived in Alberta, I'd never been to Waterton until recently....and WOW! What a wonderful place to explore. There are so many hikes and trails and gorgeous spots to experience. It's a must see for locals and tourists alike!
Pictures are from the village of Waterton as well as Cameron Falls.

A must! This is a magnificent national park full of amazing pockets of beauty.
We went during the last half of September and seeing the park in autumn was simply jaw dropping. The changing colours of the leaves against a backdrop of rugged mountains, calm lakes and blue skies was like walking into a postcard.
At this time, early Fall, there weren’t many tourists which gave us a more comfortable and relaxing stay.
We spent a week here, making it our home-base while exploring other parts of Alberta. 2 days or overnight would also be good if you can’t stay any longer. A day trip to Waterton Lakes National Park would be too short a visit. This place has so much to offer.
There are many hiking trails around from easy short ones to the more challenging trails, one can select whichever is preferred.
There are many coffee shops and restaurants as well in the area, which makes taking a break or having a good solid meal ideal after a hike.
Anna M — Google review
Certainly one of the best of the national parks. Plenty of things to do and gorgeous scenery. Also home to one of the best, if not the best, hiking trails in Canada. This park definitely is a must visit.

A beautiful place for few days trip.
The lake has clean water but beaches are full of pebbles n rocks so I would recommend to take pair of slippers or pool sandals to use on beaches or in the lake.
Few places to visit in the national park n few activities to do including biking, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, horseback riding etc.
Many times you will spot wild life too.
definitely, worth of a visit if you like water, mountain n nature.

This park is one of my absolutely favourites to visit in Alberta. The lake is gorgeous and it doesn’t matter where you choose to go in - all spots are fun for swimming. I enjoy the Main Street with the shops and restaurants. I don’t find it to be as busy as other national parks *cough cough Banff* so I feel that you get to enjoy without constantly having tourists around. Red Rock Canyon was a fun stop for the kids to splash around in nature. We will be making a yearly summer trip out as I can’t get enough!

Waterton National Park is a must visit destination. The beautiful park has many trails for hiking with much breathtaking scenery. Taking the boat tour is another great way to see more amazing views of the mountains on the Waterton lake. We went later in August, the weather was pleasant but very windy. The town's amenities are great, though the town was busy, it wasn't saturated with people.

I went there in October nothing was open but still its one of my fav trips ever. We enjoyed walking and just seeing nature super soothing. definitely going back this summer. Also super sad seeing dead trees from the fire

Beautiful and stunning national park. I could go hundreds of times and still not get sick of it. Their ice cream shop was amazing. The boats were even better. I recommend if you got some spare money you should go on the boats. Just incredible pictures.

We were personally greeted by a friendly volunteer. It turned out we were the only ones staying that night and it was a truly special experience.
The mountain and meadow views were lovely. The campsite was spacious.
There was a flush toilet, no water and no power. There were a few big buildings with picnic tables.

Only stayed here for two days, and it was better than I remembered. My last visit to this place was almost a decade ago, and I remember being bored just being here. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see many wildlife and did not do the available activities, but it was superb nonetheless. My recommendation is to bring a raincoat, jacket, and water. I would also recommend bringing equipment for hiking as well as for kayaking. Out of the three Alberta National Parks, this one is at the top despite its size. Will visit again for the hiking trails and kayaking.

It's an amazing landscape of flat land and mountains with scenic beauty. It's a must visit park to explore the landscape. If you are fortunate enough, you can spot a bear enroute red rock canyon. Bison spotting is fine too..

Highly recommend this park for summer and fall adventures. It is best experienced then. During the winter it really becomes a ghost town, but if you like cross country skiing, fat biking or winter hiking this is a good place to come in the winter too, and especially to experience the high winds this place gets.
But, for me summer is best!

Amazing National Park. Part of waterton-Glacier national international peace park, this park is huge and beautiful with breathtaking sceneries, crystal clear lakes, cascading waterfalls, rainbow colored streams and towering mountain peaks. A hikers paradise with so many hiking trails.

Waterton Lakes National Park
We had wild fire smoke during our visit, hence the haze, but the views were incredible.
Waterton National Park, established in 1895, is Canada's fourth national park and part of the world's first International Peace Park with Glacier National Park. Together, they celebrate peace and cooperation between nations.
We had an unforgettable adventure crossing borders from Glacier National Park to Waterton Lakes National Park! The journey started with a smooth border crossing, and we drove in awe to the historic Prince of Wales Hotel.
The Prince of Wales Hotel, located in Waterton Lakes National Park, Canada, was built in 1927 by the Great Northern Railway. Its name honors the future King Edward VIII, who visited the region in 1927. The Hotel, perched on a hilltop, boasts a rich history. Its majestic architecture and breathtaking views of Upper Waterton Lake make it a true gem of the Rockies!
When you visit Waterton National Parkdon't miss these 5 amazing activities:
🍁 Hike the iconic Crypt Lake Trail.
🍁 Take a scenic boat cruise on Waterton Lake.
🍁 Explore the Red Rock Canyon.
🍁 Witness the stunning Cameron Falls.

I did a day trip from St Mary, MT to Waterton Lakes National Park and it was well worth the day I spent . The park is not quite as majestic as Glacier National Park on the USA side of the border but it's still beautiful and if you are visiting Glacier National Park you should take the time to see the Canadian side. The town of Waterton makes for an excellent stop in the middle of the tour of the park with lots of shops, places to eat and hotels.

Beautiful nature. Amazing in Fall. Restaurants close by September. Take food with you as there is no place to eat. But I like going there during off season because it's very quiet.

Calgary, a diverse city in Alberta known for its towering buildings, owes much of its growth to being the hub of Canada's oil industry. Despite this, it has maintained its western culture, earning the nickname "Cowtown," which is evident during the Calgary Stampede held every July. On the way to Calgary from Banff lies Canmore, a charming town with fewer tourists than Banff and serves as a gateway to Kananaskis country - an ideal spot for hiking in the Rockies.

The top stops along the way from Cody to Banff (with short detours) are Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, Calgary Tower, and Upper Falls of the Yellowstone River. Other popular stops include Red Rock Canyon, The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, and Calaway Park.
Pictograph Cave State Park is a beautiful park located just 20 minutes away from Billings downtown. The park features three caves with ancient paintings, and an informative visitor center. The trails are mostly paved and groomed, with some non-groomed options available as well. Visitors can enjoy the history of the caves through informational plaques and boards discussing the hand paintings from thousands of years ago.
Gotta give this a 5 star....well worth the drive if you're in the area, and the 8 bucks. You can easily see the money is going into the park. All trails are well maintained as is the visitor center, parking lot, picnic area and viewing areas. The quiet and beautiful scenery here is awesome and you just want to stay here for awhile 😊. This also is dog friendly 🐕!
The ancient pictographs are faint, but still visible and you can see why this place was a sanctuary for peoples of the past.
Come see this yourself!

This was a quick loop trail with some cool informative boards discussing the history of the caves and the hand paintings from thousands of years ago. It feels great to be in such a place with a long history and relevance for the Native Americans. I would definitely stop by if in Billings, only 15 minutes outside of town.
Shaun Smith — Google review
This was a cool place. We were able to stretch our legs and see some cool sites. The shop has some great souvenirs.
Kimber — Google review
This was one of the side stops during our road trip. There is a trail that you walk along to see the different areas of this park. Some of the pictographs are hard to see, but after looking at the signs, it makes it easier to make out what you are looking at. There are a lot of bird’s nests on the ceiling, so if you have a fear of birds you may want to steer clear.
Balakay Smith — Google review
Pictograph State Park was a pretty neat stop on our visit to Billings. It was pretty fun to do the short little hike and see the drawings on the wall of the cave. Time has washed a lot of it away but you can still see it if you look close. The hike was not bad at all and the little kids had no trouble making it on their own. There are some portions that are steep, however, it is not for very long. The park is well maintained and I would recommend a stop.
Travis Rudd — Google review
Positively beautiful. The pictographs are fading, but you can still see some. I imagine the minimal exposure would cause that. It's a quiet place. The walks to the caves are each individually kinda steep, but we met a few people with knee replacement and stuff that were doing just fine. I saw a lot of wild catnip! 😁If you are not accustomed to that sort of hiking, just take a break. They have benches around for exactly that, and for simply taking in the atmosphere of the place. If the awe of the history of this place doesn't get to you, I feel bad for you.
Cyndie Chinnici — Google review
This gorgeous park is only a 20 min drive from Billings downtown and so worth it. You can trek the entire park and read all of the informational plaques, plus take pics in 30 mins. Mostly paved, groomed trails but we did all of the non- groomed trails as well in under 30 mins. The less athletically inclined might take an hour max.
Just gorgeous and a lot of history.
Flyan Ryan — Google review
What a unique place to visit! The fall colors looked beautiful up against the backdrop of the caves.
Most of the paths are paved. Allowing for an ease of walking up to the cave.
Recommend going right when they open to see the pretty scenes highlighted by the morning sky.
Super glad I stopped and visited!

Today April 7th, 2023 we visited this beautiful park. Unfortunately we came just an hour before closing time so was not be able to explore all. But our short time there was very informative and enjoyable. This park is so different then any other park. This place have history which dates back thousands of years old yet there is very nice trial, picnic area and a visitors centre.
There is charge $8 for out of province vehicle I believe it’s free for locals.
Very nice drive to the parking spot.
Must visit if you are either passing by or visiting Billing’s.
5 stars all the way.

This is a breathtaking park and it’s not crowded. There’s a small visitor center and a bathroom. There’s also a picnic are. It’s amazing to learn the history but the pictures have faded overtime. It’s still quite remarkable.
Marzlyn PorBrad — Google review
Great short hike with lots of cool history and beautiful terrain! While the trail is paved it gets pretty steep in places so be aware of that if you have mobility issues. Highly recommend a stop here and down the road at 4 dances!
Mike Beck — Google review
If your on the area, this is a nice short visit. There is a small entry fee. It has a paved pathway to the pictograph cave, however this has some steep inclines. This has some cave drawings on an excavated cave wall. The "Indian Ghost Cave" is not paved and is dirt and stair path. Bring water. Be aware as they have some dangerous wildlife in the area. Rattlesnakes, bear and cougar are some. I did not see any, however, we thought we heard a rattlesnake in the distant grass. Watch your children.

Had a fun visit. So close to town and so secluded as well. Fascinating place.

I came to Billings on a visit and didn't even know the state park was here. However, it proved to be a beautiful and marvelous addition to our trip. To stand in the presence of so much natural beauty and know that for so long humans had been frequenting, that area was awe inspiring.

Red Lodge Mountain
Ski resort
Nature & Parks
Family-friendly locale for skiing & snowboarding, with 65 trails & slopes, plus kids' programs.
5 stars for best snow in the lower 48, and for Travel Trailer and RV parking at the mountain lower lot...free just look for the "camping between signs" row on the side of the lot. Cleanest ski hill porto potties so far after 3 states and 5 resorts. If I were picky I'd Take off a star for the main lodge lifts being slow fixies and for holding Palisades chair from opening Until a holiday weekend on a Saturday even though...it was probably ready after it snowed last week...but at least this year the lifts seem to be spinning without breaking! ...don't go to Big Sky.
Mark Leffingwell — Google review
Very under-the-radar hill with a local feel, yet still skis like a major western resort. The cafeteria should be avoided at all costs, but the rest of the experience was amazing.
Andrew Bayley — Google review
Super pricey for adult lift tickets. Even if you purchase in advance online. Rentals are reasonable. I struggled with faulty gear on my last visit. I didn't realize that my bindings were loose until we were on top of the mountain. The staff were friendly and quick to assist. The snow is great usually. My daughter and I love the long runs. We are both amateur snowboarders and are on the same skill level, so those long rides are essential for solid experience. Safe learning environment. It tends to be crowded on the weekends, but the lines for the lifts are short.
Jesse Ballard — Google review
Learning area is very small compared to others in MT. Boys enjoyed it nonetheless.
I prefer Bridger Bowl. Cheaper, more runs already open, more/better snow, more mountain to explore. Did I mention cheaper!?

Absolutely love this place, from incredible terrain to wonderful friendly staff, truly unbeatable.

We love this place! The prices are reasonable, so it makes it a great family destination . The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and very welcoming. We like to ski for 2-3 days every time we go. We are a family of four with a 7yo and 4yo.

Red Lodge Mountain is a great place to ski & snowboard. I've been going there for years. This trip was a little rough due to the snow conditions and weather, but I still had a blast. If they replace that slow triple chair with a high speed quad, I'd give them 5 stars!
Casey Jensen — Google review
Spent three days here in the spring. I had a great time. Triple chair needs to be upgraded to a high speed, but the rest of the mountain is quiet. Palisades and Cole Creek are awesome!
Luke Jaraczeski — Google review
Great trail to hike- saw lots of others and NO wild animals.
Tammy Osborne — Google review
Had a good time for the first time in years, though snow was low, it was still exciting. HOWEVER,
NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY 94$ to eat their food in the cold because you guys sell $15 cheese burgers.
I can say because of that alone and just how much it’s raised and how little accommodations you have now I DEFINITELY won’t be back. There’s other places in Montana for cheaper and better accommodation. Hopefully you take this to heart and try to fix your system.
Michael Barth — Google review
Fun spot to hit, snow cover tends to be thin but has some cool terrain if it's not skiied out and/or sun-baked. Pretty low-key and laid back; while other mountains have gotten big and are turning into full blown resorts, this one still has the old school ski mountain vibe. And still cheaper than most places these days. The central lift could really use an upgrade to something high-speed, though; that's my only real gripe. Plenty here to enjoy and explore.
Devon Waldron — Google review
I’ve been to 4 mountains in Montana and 2 in utah and wyoming… Never have I ever seen a mountain maintained so badly. all the park workers and rental workers are super rude and the customer service is literally non existent at this mountain. took my friends for the first time and the rental guy was getting pissed because we were renting and he wanted me to buy the $70 lift ticket before renting to give him “less work” When we only planned on hitting the magic carpet. I really hope something can be done because most of the employees on this mountain look like they don’t wanna be here themselves so maybe they shouldn’t be because there ruining peoples experiences… it embarrasses me that’s this is the treatment beginner riders get on your slope
Logan Dillon — Google review
We had an awesome few days here. Great snow, great lifts and top notch staff. The chalet food was actually good as well. Hope to be back again next season.
Steve A — Google review
Great place to ski with the family. We recently spent a spring break here as a family and couldn’t be happier. Here’s what we liked: 1. Reasonable prices on lift tickets and lessons. 2. Plenty of terrain for everyone - I liked the long blue groomers that make your quads burn like Lazy M or Palisades. My kids liked Miami Beach and the greens around the lodge. And there’s plenty of more advanced terrain if that’s what you’re looking for. 3. No lift lines - we skied all week and probably spent a total of 10 minutes in-line between the four of us. 4. Spectacular scenery - if you’re looking for Mountain View’s Red Lodge does not disappoint. 5. Super chill vibe - all the skiing, none of the pretense.
Quincy Long — Google review
On December 2nd I witnessed a gross breakdown of class, character, communication and transparency on Red Lodge Mountain. It was our first day of the season and what should be a great first day up on the local hill was anything but. We went to get my Girlfriend her new pass for the season. As has been the case for years you receive a new pass at the beginning of the season. We thought nothing of the fact that we could not find last years pass and went to the ticket counter where we were informed that it was a $20 fee to reprint a pass. The woman who spoke to us was curt and when we asked for clarification was quick to call her supervisor, Denise. As we were standing outside waiting on Denise to make it over to the side door of the ticket counter, I overheard the first woman complain to Denise that this "girl over here is complaining about spending $20". The tone and the interaction indicated to me that your staff cares less about being professional and remembering that they are in customer service and are in fact more interested in being rude and petty.
Denise deployed what can best be described as her best fake nice expression and told us we must pay the $20 for a reprint even though no new pass had been issued for the season. This was explained to be a "greener" option yet you print lost passes on the same plastic for $5. Someone could come everyday reprinting for $5 and have dozens of plastic cards made. We were told that it says emphatically that you must reuse your pass from previous seasons yet no such writing was presented or shown to be the case. We then asked to speak to her manager or someone else and we were told that a "Jeff" was in charge but he wouldn't want to talk to us, was too busy and had left for the day around 1PM. We were given a card we were told was his without any of his information and was in fact just a general card for the mountain. She lied to us telling us that she had given us your card with your information but gave us a blank card and would not tell us your full name. She then said we could send her an email and she would pass it along. Denise was rude, her repeated dismissal of our issue and her attempt to give us the runaround and no information, yet claim she had, was incredibly poor service. Denise pulled out the one sheeter with your policies on it and lo and behold the "it says right here you have to keep your pass for each season" never materialized and unless it has been amended does not exist. At this point I started recording her because of how rude she was being and I have her on video admit to and apologize for being rude. We eventually got her to bring us to your brand new guest services manager Taylor ( I believe that was his name). We shared the same story with him and he shared that he had to pay the same fee when his wife lost her pass. Again he reinforced that this was something that was known and was in the agreement that is signed for your season pass. When we asked him to show that to us he had to admit that it does not say that in the printed rules or agreement. He was very nice and printed, for the first time this season, her pass.
We are lifelong Montanans. This is not how customer service should work in the small town of Red Lodge at our local mountain. I understand that Customer Service takes a cool head and skill. The mountain was not busy that day, you haven't been busy at all this season so your pass holders are even more important when the snow isn't dumping. To see this person be your front facing staff leader interacting with your guests is appalling. As we stated multiple times this isn't an issue with spending $20, this is about your poorly written policy and your attempts to enforce it. Simply, Denise never apologized for her behavior and she put Taylor in a bad situation trying to fix it.
I would encourage you to cull the attitudes festering in your customer service before they spread to the rest of your team.

The impressive Upper Falls of the Yellowstone River in Yellowstone National Park is a majestic and potent waterfall that offers stunning views and exhilarating hiking trails. This natural wonder, known for its immense power, drops 109 feet into the remarkable river below and meanders through the renowned Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. While it may not receive as much attention as its counterpart, the Lower Falls, this captivating waterfall still attracts a considerable number of visitors who are captivated by its breathtaking beauty.
Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.
We drove up from Jackson in early October. Created by erosion from the Yellowstone River, the canyon is more than 1,000 feet deep, 4,000 feet wide and 20 miles long. The 1st parking lot was full so we drove past and found a pull over which led to the trail that overlooks the canyon and waterfall.
SPARKY — Google review
Upper Falls in Yellowstone National Park is located on the Grand loop road close to Hayden Valley and Canyon Village depending from where you are coming. The parking lot size is pretty decent with restrooms. This is the Yellowstone river which drops to the upper falls and then drops again to lower falls and finally flowing through the canyon. The view of the gushing water is a great spectacle. You can also feel the mist on your face.

This was the highlight of our trip. It was an overcast and rainy day, but the view was amazing. We drove across the bridge to the first parking lot. From there we took the trail up to artist point. It was a long hike in a paved trail, with a lot of elevation change. The views along the way were superb though.

For my regret, in time when we visited, the third week of May, the road to Canyon village was closed due to the wheather condition. So, our way from Wilson to Gardiner took much more time. Any way, was amazing.

A breathtaking view of upper falls was best viewed from this point. Min of 5-10 mins walk from the parking lot. There’s another view point as well to see these falls but I personally liked this one. I visited with my friends in the month of July for long weekend.

Huge fan of waterfalls and the Upper Falls certainly did not disappoint! Haven't made it to the Grand Canyon yet but the ravine coming away from the falls has to resemble it on a small scale.
The falls themselves were really beautiful and the scenery in the back drop were out of this world. There were some neat hikes to it as well which is always a plus!

Best time to be here is after Memorial Day even if the weather looks potentially gloomy the clouds will part and give the visitors some stunning pictures.
If you have a camera with a nice telephoto lens or a Bridge Camera superzoom you will have a plethora of opportunities out there.

Hayden Valley and Lamar are just so super duper for wildlife opportunities….. Managed to film this Grizzly sow and her 2 cubs from a good 100+ yards out.
Bring your bug repellent you will need it in early June to the end of the month.

Between two major falls of Yellowstone, the Upper Falls is 109 feet high and extends to South Rim Drive Road. The falls' flow cascades onto the road. We were amazed to witness the falls' flow even from the road. Missing them won't be a disappointment, as the view from the road is still enchanting.

Awesome little park we visited in May 2019. Nice views, well kept, and an all around enjoyable place to stop in and walk. Swings, bathrooms, ponds, river and mountain views.

This park is amazing. Its location is grand. The Yellowstone is a short walk away, a wonderful playground for kids , picnic tables, a gazebo, and lots of room for Frisbee, etc. We love it here!

We loved this park. The town looks really cute as well. Lots of parking, lots of open space to run and play. Lots of shade. Playground is among the trees which is nice cuz it was mostly shaded. Other play areas as well. Nice walk along the river.

Enjoyed this park from one end to the other end. Nice walk along the Yellowstone River, the ponds have ducks and geese to watch, playfields with games going on, and a realistic statue of Sacagawea and child on a horse. With fall colors coming on this place was amazing.

Montana Grizzly Encounter is a wildlife rescue service that provides a safe haven for rescued grizzly bears. The sanctuary offers educational programs and up-close encounters with the bears, allowing visitors to learn about their personalities and behavior. The staff at Montana Grizzly Encounter are loving and committed to caring for the bears, who have a large natural space to play in the snow and live comfortably.
Woah! If you ever wondered what a grizzly looked like compared to a black bear, well … this is a great place to go see one up close! I love that this place also has a really nice instructor that teaches you everything you want to know about and how to identify and avoid these beautiful powerful creatures in the wild. Would definitely recommend to check out this place. The bears are always active and close up. They also had a few cute goats as well!

Watching Max was fun, and listening to the guide (who said he is relatively new, but did a GREAT job) was super informative. I came away feeling attached to Max and also better aware of what to do if I were to encounter a bear in the wild (hope that never happens). The location was gorgeous. The gift shop and admissions folks were very welcoming and kind. The ticket receipt serves as a pass that allows you to return two days in a row. Unique and positive experience. My kids loved it.

Wonderful place to visit! Got to visit Max! Came here with my wife on our honeymoon! Bring boots as it is muddy!
They have a great display area with information on bear attacks, and ways to keep yourself safe! They also have diagrams with info on the different physical features of black, brown and polar bears!

Incredible grizzly bear encounter! The staff was friendly and informative, providing a fascinating history of the bears and answering all questions. The bears were beautiful, and I got some up-close shots as one came surprisingly close.
There are 3 bears in total, at least when I went. They don't always get along with each other so they're brought out individually at different times lol. You won't miss anything, though. If one bear doesn't feel like coming out, there is always at least 1 willing and able to come out as long as snacks are provided for them in the enclosure.
Ample parking and a charming gift shop add to the overall experience. A must-visit for wildlife enthusiasts!

Our family loved seeing the bears play. The ticket is good for two days and you only get to see one bear at a time because they don’t get along. We got to see Max and Bella. There was always an employee outside with us giving information about the bear and how it was rescued. We were also able to ask questions. Everyone was very nice. It was a wonderful experience. Okay

Love that they are helping the Grizzly bears and educating humans. The bears are adorable, I mean I know - grizzlies - but they let them into the viewing area one at a time, to avoid confrontation and disputes. So, yeah, they're adorable. The one we had the opportunity to view was their youngest, but the largest. He was completely and thoroughly entertained by the 300+lb log he was playing with in the pond.🤎🐻🤎I also have to say that we bought the best souvenir ever. We were apprehensive about spending $30 on a thermal cup. But it's totally worth it. Our iced coffee kept ice cubes intact *overnight *!

We used the reservation feature although not necessary. We arrived at 10:30 on a Sunday (nice that they’re open on Sunday). With it being only 15 minutes outside of Bozeman this is a really good roadside attraction. They only had 3 bears at the time that we went and only 1 bear, Max,was out at a time, but he was super cute and entertaining! They have a gift shop, but no bathrooms (only porter pottys) really nice and knowledgeable staff! Fairly priced, only $12.50 for adults.

Amazing! These bears have a safe place and are well cared for by loving humans. The staff love to share information about the bears and tid bits about their personalities. Max was out playing in the snow. He raised up on his hind legs and waved and smiled at me. Made my day! They have a fantastic gift shop. All proceeds and donations go to caring for the bears and helping educate school groups and others learn about grizzlies. Go, enjoy, support this wonderful sanctuary!

Absolutely beautiful seeing these grizzlies in person. The challenging part is these bears were rescue bears. Unfortunately they were either abandoned or their mother was poached. Terrible.
However, this sanctuary provides as close to a healthy habitat as possible and keeps them healthy.
Inexpensive admission which was good for two days of visits.
There are many worthwhile causes to support; this is one of them.

We stopped here on our way to Yellowstone. Very interesting! Max was out, and he's quite the showbear. The guides were very informative, and they answered all my questions. This place is both educational and performing an important service in rescuing and caring for these magnificent animals. Worth a visit, and worth a donation toward their work.

Went to this place on April 9, 2023.
They had one bear out. Staff informed us that they can’t have more then one bear out as they don’t get along.
If you like animals or this kind of activity then you will like this place as you will see Bear up close.
Jen was either caretaker or guide either way she was very knowledgeable and with positive attitude. She answered all the questions from us and others.
They have small gift shop there too.
Paid about $25 for two tickets.

Bella, the bear was amazing to see! 900 bls! The drive was a bit far, but still, I don't think you'll be able to see a bear this close. The employees were very knowledgeable and studied for animal conversion. All merchandise goes to the foundation, so it is definitely worth a peak if you're in the area.

We visited the Grizzly Encounter today based on other reviews and recommendations from social media. We were not disappointed! First and foremost, this is a rescue sanctuary for grizzlies - NOT a roadside attraction. These bears have either been abandoned/orphaned or raised in captivity at other locations and have made it here for a chance at survival.
Today, we met Max, who seemed happy and extremely well taken care of! We enjoyed watching him play in the snow and rooted for him to get a huge chunk of ice out of one of the ponds in his enclosure. Fun fact we learned at the sanctuary today: bears have no reason to hibernate if they have a food source and are not pregnant, so any time of year is good to visit! You can get pretty close to the grizzly bears while still feeling completely safe, and there is an employee outside at all times to answer all your questions.
I truly feel like the people who work at the Grizzly Encounter love their jobs and love and care for the grizzly bears. I would highly recommend this experience for people of all ages!

They were 3 bear, but they only came out 1 at a time.I understood why, but it was good to see them in their space. Was not too bad. There was also an attendant who was very informative with any question you threw at her.

Beautiful place, incredible initiative. Those bears are rescued, it’s not a zoo and the people taking care of them demonstrate true love. One bear at a time can be seen

On our way through Bozeman Montana on interstate 90 there is this very cool sign for bears. As you drive along you start to see more for Montana Grizzly encounters. When you get there you are greeted by the nicest lady with a great attitude of happiness. She will give you the rundown on what’s going on and how to get to the viewing area. On your way to the viewing area you pass the goats in the corner. As you walk through the cutest gift shop with another very friendly gentleman who is very knowledgeable on everything. When you enter the viewing area you see MAX. Max is a 4 year old 1100 lbs Alaskan grizzly bear who was rescued at 4 months old. They could not find his mother. He is so cute the way he plays with his log and in the water. As you are being entertained by Max some of the workers there tell you different ways you identify the different kinds of bears and how to and how not to approach the situation. They teach you why bear spray is better then a firearm. When you are fully entertained and are ready to leave, there is a shuttle little ice cream truck in the corner. Delicious ice cream. As you walk out you see 2 rocks they had made for a manorial for there 2 bears that have passed. This is probably one of if not our favorite stop and will definitely go again. ( to see the other 2 bears). I highly recommend everyone to stop. They are a nonprofit organization who operate on donations only. No government funding. All in all on of the coolest and very educational places for the who family. Pet friendly, lots of parking and easy to get to. Entrance fee is 12.00$ for adults and 10.00$ for kids. They offer military and senior discount.

I'm a little late in posting this, we were here last week and it was awesome. We got to see Max, their "toddler" grizzly and he was super active and provided tons of entertainment for everyone. Big shoutout to the speaker, a gentleman named Hunter. He gave an excellent talk about bear safety and made a great case for bear spray as opposed to carrying a gun for safety during hikes. He was easy to hear, and took time to answer questions. He is clearly passionate about what he does and the animals, and we really enjoyed it.
This is not a "zoo", you are not going to tee tons of animals here - but if you eat a close look at a live grizzly then this is your stop. Big bonus, your ticket is good for two days!

Such a cool place! We stayed at Howler’s Inn and visited this nearby attraction on our last day. Seeing Max was great! He was so energetic! Hunter was so knowledgeable about the bears and we learned so much from him. Could have easily spent all day here if we didn’t have a flight to catch. Worth the money!
Bridger Bowl Ski Area is a popular non-profit skiing destination with 8 lifts supporting 75 runs. It offers great terrain, views, snow quality and fair prices. The resort's amenities such as food and drinks are enjoyable while the staff is helpful and friendly towards all visitors. One of the best aspects of this ski area is that it isn't crowded which makes it perfect for families with kids who can enjoy themselves without any fuss or long lines!

Affordable, Fun, with outstanding skiing and facilities.
We didn’t want to spend a fortune at Big Sky and we are now Bridger people! The skiing was great. There is terrain for anyone at any skill level and the facility is more than large enough to not be stuck on the same runs over and over all day.
There are four lodges throughout the made and mountain and all of them have delicious food and are very clean and well maintained. Getting our lift tickets in the morning was quick and easy and every employee we dealt with the whole trip was extremely friendly and helpful. Bridger Bowl is a great place for anyone looking for a fantastic, affordable ski trip.

This is definitely a top class ski area. I’m from Houston Texas so when it comes to skiing I’m definitely out of my element as it’s just not something that I have ever learned how to do. Came here today and the staff was super welcoming and helpful/friendly. Went on the baby ski slope and kind of got some basics down on how to ski and move around. For anyone new to skiing like me I’d highly recommend taking some ski lessons as ultimately that’s the route I’m going to go. Definitely a lot harder than it looks and I have all the respect in the world for folks that can ski well for sure, as this isn’t easy. The other slopes and areas look incredible so hopefully once I get my skill level to a respectable level I’ll be able to take on the more challenging stuff. Also something worth mentioning is the cafeteria on site is incredibly good and they have lots of good choices for food. Highly recommended this place as it’s a lot of fun!

The place I fell in love.... With snowboarding 😅🏂❄️ we always have a good time. Even if we leave limping. It's a convenient place to go for a pretty affordable price (compared to big sky) The staff are kind and happy. The food is a little expensive and not the best, so we pack sammiches. Overall, a laid back place with great views 😎

Great spot for first time skiers. We went with locals from the area because we needed a low key spot where the kids could learn how to ski and have fun. The staff was very friendly and helpful and gave great advice and recommendations. We decided to get the kids into a group lesson at 12:30pm. It was a 2 and a half hour lesson with a total of 5 kids in the group. Megan their instructor was awesome! She had the kids doing the basics in no time. The kids loved her so much we signed up again the next day for private lessons with her. We also had Margo help the older more advanced kids and she was very good as well. The equipment rental staff was again very friendly and helpful especially with first timers who didn’t know how to wear or use the boots, skis etc. the on-site cafeteria has good options for food and the Bar had delicious belly warmer cocktails. Overall we spent two days at Bridger Bowl and loved it so much. Highly recommend for beginners and families with younger kids.

This was our first Montana Ski experience and we will be back! What a treasure Bridger Bowl is. Friends of mine had told me it’s a “hidden gem” and isn’t that the truth! Bridger Bowl makes a Montana ski experience possible for big families. You get incredible mountain skiing experiences for a great price. So many options at the multiple chalets to eat and hang out. Great staff all around, everyone is friendly! Really fun skiing, excellent snow and well groomed runs, and plenty of options for all levels of skiers. We had 5 teenagers on the trip and they were highly satisfied and impressed, not always an easy accomplishment!

This is a great value ski. The negative reviews here just seem like grumpy jingleheimers. The slopes were perfect and had great powder today. I went on a holiday as well and it was not too crowded at all. The lodges are decent, ski passes are fairly priced for the value, and it was not overcrowded even in the holiday. Overall it is an excellent value that I would recommend.

Cool little resort close to town. Gets super crowded on powder days. Grooming is pretty much non-existent on this mountain. Many of the runs are littered with choppy moguls. There's not much off piece skiing unless you hike the ridge. Could be way better with a few more lifts and daily grooming.

A really good skiing area, they have great places to start skiing, and some pretty good intermediate skiing areas, but there aren’t very much. More up the mountain they have a lot more of advanced and proficient hills. Great place to start though, and i’d really recommend.

We hosted our wedding in September 2023 at the mid-mountain Deer Park Chalet at Bridger Bowl and it was WONDERFUL! In the winter, Deer Park is a cafeteria-style dining establishment – but in the summer, it is a beautiful event venue. I cannot sing Jimbo and his team’s praises enough. Jimbo is extremely communicative and helpful. We were able to tour the venue twice and utilize many of the decorations they have collected throughout the seasons. The food is done in-house and was raved about by our guests (bison tenderloin and chicken piccata). The venue is accessible via personal vehicle and bus service, which was a huge plus! It is absolutely gorgeous and truly speaks for itself. I highly recommend considering using Bridger Bowl’s Deer Park Chalet for your next event, wedding or otherwise. Oh, and the skiing is great too!

This is so worth coming to. So easy to park, entrance is free. Giant Springs is a treasure for the area, they attached fish hatchery is interesting and very quick to learn about how fish are spawned and then sent to various lakes and streams around Montana.
The park is great for walking along Rivers edge it is paved and flat it is a beautiful walk good enough for people on walkers canes and wheelchairs all will have access to this incredible walk along the river.
When's walking others happily greet you with a hello, it seems others in the area are so happy to be here.
There are all kinds of birds in the area we saw seagulls pelicans and other Montana based birds. I highly recommend for anyone no matter if you're in good health or not so good health this is an easy place to come for a gentle walk.

Great experience with Trout Hatchery. Learned that trout survive mostly on cold climate for it gets sunburn above 54 ° C. Saw the tree my son planted at this park. There's a crack in the rock, a brook opening that travels from the mountain. It's a fresh water but not advisable to drink since other animals thrive here. We just saw a beaver. Montana is known for its gusty ruthless wind for its proximity to Canada. Cold but worth the experience with nature. Next year we will visit during summer.

Moved here to Montana August 2021. Since living here I've been to Great Falls area twice to go to Walmart for my shopping and automotive service. This was my third time going to Great Falls so thought I'd check out all the cool things to do out in nature in the area for a full day. This place was absolutely gorgeous. Loved it. Took close to 100 combination of photos/videos while I was there. Then followed up by going to Rainbow Falls 1.1 miles from here and then in the opposite direction 4.5 miles to Black Eagle Falls. They were ok, nothing compared to this spring Park. Definitely will visit again now that I live in this beautiful state.

A beautiful spring, certainly unique, with an interesting historical reference through the explorers Lewis and Clark that provides a context we otherwise would completely lack!
The attached fish hatchery is fun to check out, there are more things to learn about fish than probably most of us attempt to!
I enjoyed what they had to share, feel like it motivated me to learn more!
Wish I could swim in that spring! 🙂

I didn't know there was a quiet peaceful place in great falls till my family and I went here. My son tried to get a blue crawdad but couldn't because the spring water was so cold lol. Great place to sit and have lunch and unwind. We got wonderful pictures and learned about the fish. Got to see Juniper, the rangers bull snake. We had a great time rolling down the grassy hills and watching people fish by the river. The restrooms were very clean, it was animal friendly and lots of picnic area.
The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center is a spacious museum with interactive exhibits, walking trails, and a theater for shows and ranger talks. Visitors can explore exhibits that follow the path of the adventurers, while friendly docents offer additional information beyond the displays shown on laminated maps. The center provides clean facilities including restrooms, outdoor gardens with signage for native plants, ample parking including handicapped parking. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate easy access to adjacent trails and views of the Missouri River.
Arguably the best part of this museum is the staff (the same does not apply to the gift shop staff … that was a bad experience) they were knowledgeable, fun, and really seemed to enjoy their jobs. Aside from the staff, the museum itself was well done. The exhibits were well explained and told the story of Lewis and Clark with clarity. One item of note, at the end of exhibits are a few cases of guns, go to that case and look at the top most gun at the front. That’s a replica of the repeating air rifle, a true marvel of engineering and what the Indians were shown as Lewis and Clark traveled. Imagine seeing a rifle that didn’t need gunpowder, was quiet when shot, and didn’t create muzzle flash. That’d be fairly amazing to see in a world of muzzle loaded weapons. Anyway, highly recommend place to visit.

Had the entire museum to ourselves for two hours on a cold, snowy January day. Great family outing for kids 5 or 6+. Plenty of tactile displays, a unique journey along a carpeted “river”, and good reproductions make this a very interesting way to interact with history. It’s presented from Lewis and Clark’s perspective, but I thought it fairly well-balanced in respect to indigenous participation. Would definitely go back!

My seven year old participated in the junior explorer scavenger hunt and it was a great way for her to engage in the museum and learn a lot! Clean and nice center with lot of informations. Very friendly staff. I spent a few hours here with my kids and they loved the photo hunt a lot. The exposition is well made and full of interesting things. It gives you a good feeling how that all was. Even for me and I’m from Germany. Nice place.

Nice center with pleasant staff. Clean place, clean bathrooms. The various displays appeared to display more of the positive side of the Lewis and Clark expedition(s), but kind of glossed over some of the "not great" aspects. I think it would have been beneficial to give more of an explanation of the not great aspects of the journey, the explorers' encounters with various Indian tribes, and treatment of women.
Separately, there are nice walking paths outside, with nice views of the river. The cost I think is $8pp, unless you have a national parks pass (in which case, you'd get in for free). Military also get in for free.

Russell's art and other artists' works, while the lower level houses historical displays such as The Bison exhibit, Browning Firearms Collection, Dale Ford Wagons, and Contway Bronze Collection. Additionally, visitors can observe bison roaming on less than 10% of their original territory outside the museum walls.

Museum for C.M. Russell, an iconic painter of the West. Primarily paintings and drawings, with some sculptures. The are other exhibits of contemporary and modern artists showing the West as it was, as it was mythologized, and how it is. Outside of the museum are the house and studio of C.M. Russell. Highly recommended for those interested in the Old West.

I'm a big fan of Charlie's work; such a thrill to see his paintings in person! My only complaint was that there are so many blank walls, perhaps exhibits that had been removed?? but all in all, it was a fantastic destination and I learned so much about the artist's life and the old wild West.

I love this museum! I remember going on field trips here when I was in school. Definitely one of my favorites. It was amazing to go back! A lot was the same but there was some new stuff I thought was cool. I enjoy their gift shop and the staff is always friendly. I look forward to my next visit!

A great museum of the world 🌎 right here in Montana - make at least a half day of it and be sure to visit his studio and house along with the entire gallery - you won't regret it

My wife and I visited yesterday. The collections there are outstanding and the display is great. To really see and take-in all that is there would take several visits. The only reason I don't rate this as 5*s is that the staff is standoffish and cold. There was no attempt at even a friendly greeting, nor offer of guidance on best ways to tour or see the museum. So much more could be done in this area to improve the visitor experience.
Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park is a campground located on the Milk River, renowned for its hoodoos and First Nations petroglyphs. Recently declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers beautiful waterfront views and a sandy beach for families to enjoy. This unique location features ancient rock art in the form of pictographs and carvings dating back to 1050 BCE.
We stayed in Lethbridge overnight and decided to do a quick trip here. It's an hour away from there. It didn't disappoint us! Beautiful area with camp sites. Make sure you have your hiking shoes and sticks. We'll definitely come back to hike more and paddle in the river.

Stunning scenery! Could hike through the rocks for many hours. Beautiful view of mountains in the distance🤩 The river is great for cooling off as it is only knee/waist deep the whole way across. Also an excellent playground and areas for having lunch. Great place to spend a summer day!

Absolutely the best hike! Such history and amazing scenery. Saw tons of birds and even a Bull Snake. It was at least 5' long! The one rock formation looked like an old man with a big nose and hat like Toad from Mario.
Will definitely be back to visit. The Western Meadowlarks were everywhere!

The park is awesome, the campground is awesome! One of my favourites. There’s showers (2$ if I remember correctly), a beach (no pet allowed), you can bring your air mattress or whatever floating device to enjoy a lazy-river style ride, and the hoodoo trail is spectacular 👍🏻 I’ll certainly go back there on next summer! Drinking water has a weird taste though; bring your water container.

Wonderful vacation location. Be warned that this is typically a very hot destination in summer. Was only here for 2 nights of camping but got to enjoy a lot of the activities in that time: floating down the Milk River, exploring the hoodoos, taking one of the UNESCO tours of the restricted area, walking all of the hiking trails, taking in an evening interpretative shows and visiting the visitor centre and gift shop. You don't want to miss the beach, the cute bunnies, deer, and resident owl.

Very intriguing place to visit. The landscape is unique and offers scenic views, and not only in the summer! We went on a beautiful sunny day in January, it was calm and peaceful and there were hardly any other people around. There is an out-and-back trail to follow as well as some smaller loop trails and a campground.

The Hoodoos at Writing on Stone are so much more impressive than the Drumheller. I have been there twice now, and on our last visit, we took the guided tour into the private area and were very impressed with the scenery and formation of the Hoodoos. It was interesting to hear the stories told about the history. It just left me puzzled as some of the stories appear to be tales passed down generations. But it was well worth the tour.

Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, Alberta's newest UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a truly remarkable place that seamlessly combines natural beauty with cultural significance. This sacred space offers a unique experience filled with stunning landscapes and fascinating history.
One of the highlights of my visit was joining the Markings of Aisinapi guided tour, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. Our guide, Rebecca, was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also passionate about sharing her insights into the Blackfoot people and the remarkable markings they left behind. Her enthusiasm and genuine love for the park made the tour both educational and captivating.
Preservation is paramount when it comes to sites like Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, and it is evident that great care is taken to maintain its natural and cultural integrity. The importance of preserving this place for future generations to learn from and appreciate cannot be overstated. It is a testament to the park's commitment to conservation and the recognition of its historical significance.
While exploring the park, keep your eyes peeled for the diverse wildlife that calls this area home. From rabbits to rattlesnakes, there is a good chance of encountering some of these fascinating creatures. However, it is worth noting that cell service may be limited in certain parts of the park. To ensure a smooth visit, I highly recommend downloading an offline map beforehand.

I love taking my kids here. There is so much to learn. All the hikes are easy, but it does get really hot amongst those formations, so make sure you have plenty of water for you and your dog.

Took the hoodoo trail hike which was a short 2.5km and an easy hike. Beautiful scenery and loved being in the energy of this wonder.
Cool spots to visit throughout hike and nice places for meditations. Definitely worth checking out to say the least. Blessed to have some of these beautiful spots in Alberta a short drive away from Calgary.
Luke Loran — Google review
One of the most beautiful places to visit and camp at in Alberta. The sites were big and quiet, with animals wandering through the sites through the day.
The tour of the carvings was very informative and has great views of the river. The hiking trail out to the battle scene is perfect for an afternoon adventure. Just keep in mind that very little of the park is accessible due to how much of the landscape is more rugged.
Micaela Dawn — Google review
Love this place. Similar to Dinosaur Provincial Park but definitely worth a visit. Drive down the road towards the campground entrance and up towards the scenic viewpoint. The Battle Scene Hike is in this area separate from the visitor centre one or follow the hoodoo trail

Amazing location. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a very modern visitor center. There are paid guided tours, but they also have a little tour book for self-guided tours.
There is drinkable water and coin-operated showers on site.
The rock formations/hoodoos are spectacular in person. Pay attention for plants you won't find in Northern Alberta, especially rare grasses and cacti.
Weather can change in a heartbeat. Even if it says 0% chance of rain, that can become "severe thunderstorm warning" unexpectedly, as happened to us yesterday.
Overall, highly recommend this place! Bring a swimsuit since the Milk River runs right beside the campground.

Amazing place with rock formations of different shape and sizes. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a very modern visitor center. Milk river runs beside the camp grounds. Scenic views and beautiful walks. You can find many rare species of plants and cacti.

It was interesting and exciting to see petroglyphs” created by the Blackfoot in person” and up close.
There is a visitor centre with more information so it would be a good idea to go a half hour earlier than your scheduled tour to be able to read and see the exhibits.
The tour guide showed us the carvings and explained what she could, as it is “anyone’s guess” what they really meant. The whole experience was great, the only part I would try to improve is to avoid making a couple of off-jokes about the drawings, I think it isn’t necessary.
Anna M — Google review
Very nice provincial park along the Milk River in Southern Alberta. We visited in late April, the Visitor Centre was not open. The campground and day use area are quite nice. The Hoodoo Trail along the Milk River is excellent. The rock art was a bit underwhelming.
David Parratt — Google review
Another hidden gem in Alberta! Very interesting history. You can stretch your legs a lot or a little; depends on if you do the whole trail or you can drive between certain points and walk to writings/drawings. It is a shame that people think they need to "add" to the writings with their own. Be aware of the Rattlesnake migration in the fall as there were 10 spotted the day we were there 😬, we didn't see any though!

Spectacular landscape. Plenty of wildlife and the free information brochures at the visitor center were very much appreciated. It helped us identify the bullsnake we saw on our walk.

• My site was almost perfectly level.
• It was very spacious and quite deep, could have easily accommodated a much bigger rig.
• My RV (26’) and toad fit in with plenty of room to spare
• Site had power (30 amp), picnic table and fire pit
• There are several pit toilets throughout the campground
• There is shower building with flush toilets, showers are $2.00 for 5 minutes, not way to control temp, but water is warm
• There is a store on site with limited selection.
• Lots of things for kids and adults to do
• River is about 100 feet away, hoodoo and trails right there.
I truly enjoyed my stay there, however due to limited services, pay showers, cottonwood fluff like it was a blizzard and an infestation of moths I can only give this a 3 out of 5.

This definitely an underrated nature spot in Alberta! Worth the trip, the entrance is free and you have a visitor center too. Not so much people and it's great!

Well worth the visit. The rock formations are hard to believe. Plus the history of native indigenous written on the rocks was nice to see.
cingor58 — Google review
It’s an experience. It may not have the Rocky Mountains and fancy lake, but it is still very very worth it.
Being coined the UNESCO world heritage site might have something to do with it, but the facilities are amazing. Bathrooms are clean, water is facility treated, they even have a camp store open until 9pm for food and essentials. Beat that.
The Hoodos and Archeological preserve are amazing ways to spend your time if you are a history buff or take your kids for a camping treat with lots to learn about history, geography and nature.
We absolutely loved the guided tours, the amphitheater performance put on by Parks Canada staff, and interactive museum and the hoodo trail.
We also enjoyed the small beach next to Milk River. Water is clean, fast flowing, knee deep at max to cross the river. Paddle boards, tubes, anything would be fun.
Will definitely return.

Alberta is home to alien-looking rock formations called hoodoos and one of the best places to see them is at Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, right at the southern end of the province. This UNESCO World Heritage Site isn’t just special because it’s beautiful, but it’s also sacred to the Blackfoot people, whose ancestors left rock carvings and paintings on the hoodoos, having had inhabited the land for over 10,000 years.
The hoodoos can be viewed by wandering along the Matapiiksi (Hoodoo) Trail, a 1.5-mile (2.5km) path that weaves throughout the formations, with the carvings visible as visitors walk by. There are some steep sections and the natural terrain can be a bit uneven, making it inaccessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs, but the walk isn’t overly difficult. Hikers also get a view of the sediment-laden Milk River, the only river in Canada that drains south into the Mississippi drainage system.
Rajesh Mondal (Devy Jones) — Google review
Beautiful Milk River Valley with hoodoos a plenty to climb, slide down and crawl through. What beautiful views! I've been trying to get my sons to the park their entire lives as we moved out of province before they were born. They told me that it was amazing and understood why I wanted them to see this place :)

Wow, stunning views and walks. Very hot in Aug. Nice knee deep River great area for floating. Or letting the kids play. Campground was also very nice, park was renovated in 2021 and looks great. There are shows to entertain you and the kids. Recommend the 'Bat walk'. Sorry bad shot of the site, looks more like a car galm shot. Didn't take many of the site. Visitors highly recommend taking a guided tour led by knowledgeable and friendly staff to gain insights into the highlights and background of the exhibits.

Way better than I had expected, this museum is a must, especially if you get a guided tour to explain the highlights and the background, which we did, and it was worth 10x the value than doing a self-guided one.
I would consider this one of the top sights and Must Do activities if one is doing the cowboy trail or interested in any part of Alberta's historical past.

I had the pleasure of experiencing a guided tour led by the wonderful Jen. From the moment one of my friends inquired about a tour, the staff was accommodating and friendly, and Jen proved to be an exceptional guide. Her knowledge and eagerness to share her findings and insights added an extra layer of enjoyment to our visit.
The museum's collection is simply astounding. With over 270 carriages on display, it offers a comprehensive exploration of the history of transportation. From the humble carriages of farmers to the luxury carriages, each exhibit provides a captivating glimpse into the past. The collection not only highlights the diversity of carriage designs but also educates visitors about the historical context behind them.
One particular highlight of the museum is its restoration workshop. Witnessing the meticulous process of repairing and restoring these magnificent carriages was truly fascinating. The dedication and expertise of the craftsmen involved are evident in the impeccable results they achieve. It was a pleasure to learn about the time and care it takes to preserve these historical treasures for future generations.

The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden is a picturesque outdoor space that seamlessly blends Canadian and Japanese landscaping styles, featuring water elements, forests, and meadows. Located adjacent to Henderson Lake Park in Lethbridge, this garden was designed by an architect hailing from Osaka and built by artisans from Kyoto as a symbol of the enduring friendship between Japan and Canada. Visitors can enjoy strolling through the serene surroundings or partake in cultural events such as tea ceremonies, Sumo Sumo Sundays or yoga classes.
I have to say this is most amazing garden Ive seen in Canada. it very well represent Japanese garden design cues. The little streams and the little temple, plus some bonsai. really is very relaxing while walking through the garden. What a wonderful afternoon we spent meandering through the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden. No rush! We took it slow in a zen like fashion. The beautiful scenery enticing us to sit and relax. Listening to the water falling and making it's way through the garden. With our entrance fee we received a choice of strawberry or mocha cookie with mocha iced tea or orange juice. Very yummy!

Nice enough gardens, but veri lacking in colors. For the admission cost, we were disappointed. If it weren't for the small drumming show we would have been gone in less than 30 minutes. And the rules are a little ridiculous. Don't walk on the grass and rocks. YOU MUST STAY ON THE PATHS . They need to improve the scenery a little.

I had a great visit early in the morning when there was only staff there. I would highly recommend visiting at an off-peak time. The garden is small but peaceful and very green. It would not be the same experience if busy. Despite a miscommunication in ticket prices by the ticket staff, I had a good visit and would come again. The operations manager was friendly and helped clear up the issues by email. Do ring the bell, it is surprisingly easy to do so and create a loud sound. Very fun.

We enjoyed the serenity of the gardens as they were meant to be serene. The walk along the paths and the trees were very relaxing. We went through the building on site and a young lady Noreve took the time to help us make origami birds. She also explained to us that if you make one thousand of the birds you get good luck and happiness. While we were there we got to write down a wish on a piece of paper and it was tied to a tree. We are planning another visit but either in the spring when the trees are blooming or the fall when the trees change their colours. Otherwise an enjoyable visit.

Hikes through a red- & green-tinged river gorge surrounded by wildflower meadows & mountains.
Beautiful place, easy hiking trails. Make sure to bring water, especially on a warm summer day. If you want to soak up your feet and walk up the stream, I would suggest you either have sandals or water-shoes, as I did not.
Definitely go earlier in the morning to avoid the crowds, as you might not have a parking spot in the afternoon.

Mesmerizing and engaging landscape with a short and effortless hike. Because of this, it is usually quite crowded, especially with families and kids enjoying the water. It might not be the best spot if you're looking for a quiet, personal experience. However, the ease of the trail and the sheer beauty of the views make it an absolute must-visit, even if you're sharing the experience with others.

I haven't been here in years and it's gotten way busier. Beautiful red rocks and an interesting little hike. Bring water shoes and possibly change of clothes as you will definitely get wet. Lots of people, very busy. The bridge on the far top path was closed, so no way to go around the canyon on the top.

Absolutely spectacular family hike! The falls themselves were nice, with all the safe railing and man made government approved stuff but go up past that.... the forest full of wildflowers, easy creek access and mountain views was amazing! returning home to the parking area and playing in the Red Rock Canyon River to cool our hot feet and enjoy the fresh water was brilliant!

The drive to get here was beautiful. Lots of parking and essential utilities. You can walk the paved path around the canyon, about 15 minutes. Hike down in the canyon along the stream. Then hike over to the falls, about 15 minutes from the lot. Got there about 9am and it was nice and quiet, but by 10:30 it was quite busy.

Red Rock is always worth it. The drive will likely land you a view of a bear or two. We found a young one but hind leg was clearly broken and limping. Poor thing! Hit by a car no doubt. The canyon is walkable. We only go down into the are under the bridge. Lots of peeps around competing for pics. The walk is usually a loop and you cross over bridge at the top after a very short walk but it's boarded up on both sides. No doubt it I not stable after the fire that ripped through this area a couple of years ago. High recommend for an easily accessible activity 👌

Wonderful and unique red rock canyon that is easily accessible by car. The best tip that I can give you is to go early to avoid the crowds. Even at 8AM on a Sunday (8/21/2022), you will likely have the entire canyon (and the nearby falls) to yourself, and enjoy it so much more. At the time of this review, there is construction at the canyon so you are unable to go deeper into the canyon or access the trails beside the canyon.

The jewel of Waterton, and one the most scenic trail heads. The trails there are all beautifully worthwhile, too. Take it slow and take all the colours in. Submerge all your senses in this eternal play of lights, sounds, smells, earth, wind, and water intertwining. Let your spirit soar at every so often glance at the pointy tip of Anderson Peak ever-present in the backdrop. Shake yourself loose of all daily sorrows and woes, even if only for a fleeting moment.
Don't forget to enjoy the road there. It is easily one of the most scenic drives in the world.

Amazing Canyon with red rocks truly unique. There are long and short trails from the parking spot. Speaking of parking lots there are two upper is small and lower is big but a bit of walk so good luck finding one on upper lot on a busy day few washrooms. Such a beautiful area, we got here early on a very hot day and the place was quite busy when we left a couple hours later. Started out by walking around the top. Then walked into the canyon. Our feet didn't stay dry long. So I recommend a water shoe. Near the end are natural waterside that we had a lot of fun on.

We ventured out to Red Rock Canyon with high hopes of an epic outdoor adventure, and while the natural beauty did not disappoint, the facilities left a lot to be desired. Let's talk washrooms – or lack thereof. It was like stumbling upon the wild west of restroom situations. Unmanned and untamed, these washrooms were in dire need of some human intervention.
Picture this: a line of nature enthusiasts forming outside a restroom, hoping for some kind of magical appearance of cleaning supplies and a bit of freshening up. But alas, it seemed like a scene straight out of a deserted town. The washrooms were long overdue for some updating and cleaning love, like they were stuck in a time warp where toilet paper and soap were ancient relics.
Now, I get it, Red Rock Canyon is all about that free-spirited, wild vibe, but maybe a small surcharge could do wonders for maintaining these essential facilities. A mere $5 could be a lifeline for those washrooms, making them a bit more inviting and giving the whole place a touch more charm. With the influx of visitors, it's easy to see how the experience could be dampened by the lack of basic amenities.
In the end, the stunning views and rugged terrain made up for the less-than-ideal restroom situation, but a little investment in the facilities could go a long way in making this adventure even more appealing to all us nature enthusiasts.

Right upon arriving at Red Rock Canyon, I was pleasantly surprised to find wheelchair accessible bathrooms conveniently located near the entrance. While they were not flushable toilets, they were well-maintained outhouse-style bathrooms, providing a clean and accessible option for visitors. I was delighted to discover that the bathrooms were equipped with a diaper changing station, which is a thoughtful addition for families with young children.
During my visit, the park was undergoing some maintenance or construction work, but it did not significantly hinder the overall experience. In fact, there were several sections of the canyon that were wheel-chair and stroller friendly, allowing everyone to enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings. It's important to note that due to the ongoing construction, not all the trails were perfectly straight, which may require some extra attention while navigating.
Red Rock Canyon is a true visual delight. The contrasting red and green hues create a stunning backdrop for any kind of photography, whether you're capturing family moments, couples, or the captivating nature itself. The canyon's vibrant colors make it a perfect spot for capturing memorable pictures.
As you explore the park, you'll come across a variety of hiking trails suitable for all levels of fitness. From shorter 1-kilometer routes to more challenging treks spanning 15 kilometers or more, there's something for everyone.
Overall, Red Rock Canyon is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and photography enthusiasts alike. It’s a memorable experience for individuals, families, and friends seeking to connect with nature in a breathtaking setting. I highly recommend visiting Red Rock Canyon for an unforgettable outdoor adventure.
Quick note: still lots of burned trees from the wildfire back in 2017

A nice excursion just 20 minutes from Waterton! This wide canyon features distinct red rocks and a small stream of water running through it. There are typically large crowds, especially on a weekend during summer so try coming early to avoid them. There is a nice pathway along the outside of the canyon where you can walk around, and you can also walk down into the canyon which a lot of people do. Take off your shoes and you are free to splash around in the water! The parking lot is nicely sized, with a restroom on site as well. Check this out when you're visiting Waterton!

Red Rock Canyon (and area) has breathtaking scenery. We did the short hike up and around, and then dipped into the canyon to explore. The water was so clear and icy cold! We also stopped along the way and wandered various trails. I can't wait to come back!
Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located approximately 70 kilometers west of Lethbridge, Alberta. The site is dedicated to preserving the Plains Buffalo culture that has lasted for over 6,000 years and features an interpretive center showcasing the Blackfoot Indigenous culture. This cultural landmark tells a story of resourcefulness and ingenuity as the Blackfoot people hunted buffalo by using cliffs near Fort Macleod.
Wonderful museum for a great history lesson. Exhibits are amazing and offers a great history lesson for everyone. Lots to see and the trails are nice for a little hike. Wildlife can usually be seen on your hike. A nice day trip for the family

Really interesting historical and cultural site with artifact, Films, educational displays and a walk to the jump. This year there was no cafe which was unfortunate. The gift shop could be much better in terms of variety of items available too. Guided tours would be a good option if someone wanted to pay extra for that. As a local, I would suggest adding new attractions each year like concerts, guest speakers, interactive theatre, touring cultural displays like museums do. It is a must-see for travelers passing through and locals if you haven’t visited it. The stories and layout are very good. You can also save $ using your CF1 card.

Through landscapes, exhibits, and diverse programming, you will learn about the cultural significance of this cliff to the Plains People. There is an area where you can walk through the plains, it’s stunning ( 1.2 kilometre hiking trail beneath the cliff ) While you walk through you will notice different flowers, sage and berries. The exhibits inside are very educational. I would allow at least two hours to fully capture the full experience.

A sacred part of Canada's past is preserved right here in Alberta and is something all Canadians need to experience. Do I take time now to describe every aspect of what a visit is like or urge every single person out there to make the trip to see and experience this extraordinary place. Staff are friendly and helpful. Facility is incredibly clean and very well organized. Absolutely tons of berries along the interpretive trail. TIPS: sunblock. Comfortable shoes for the interpretive walk. Do not take the first exit up a dirt road towards the tipi. Keep driving. Saw a few people head up there mistakenly. There is a huge sign at the entrance. People with physical disabilities, or other metabolic issues should be dropped off up top before parking down the hill in designated parking. It is a bit of a slog to get up the hill from there to the center.

I visited Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump World Heritage Site on a weekday in early July and sent several enjoyable hours there.
This was such a worthwhile place to stop. The interpretive centre's displays and films were first rate!
The lower trails outside were easy to follow and navigate. Coming across a pair of Yellow Bellied Marmots sunning themselves on a rock was a real bonus. One marmot took off but one curious fellow stuck around for quite awhile as long as I kept perfectly still and kept my distance..
MY post would not be complete without sharing some flowers too. This wild rose grew very close to the ground and the petals are paler than the bush variety. The hill side bushes were mostly Saskatoons and chokecherries and they were loaded with berries just waiting to ripen.

Great place for a quick side trip, fellow RV campers told us about it so we stopped in as it wasn’t too far out of our way. It has a great interpretive Center with 7 levels built into the hill side. The exhibits and video are excellent along with the short hike. Well worth the $15 admission.

What an amazing place to stop in and see. A very unique piece of history to learn about and see first hand. You climb stairs to the top and see the cliff then come back in and work your way down. Learning all about the history of the jump and indigenous culture. There is even a cool video, that is free to see, that is a reenactment of the buffalo jump being used. How it worked and some of the roles people had when it came to preparing the meat and catching the bison. I would 10/10 recommend stopping. The staff are so friendly!!! We even had a chance to ask a couple questions that we had to one of the staff working there. Incredible location.

A world class museum! The history and artifacts along with the cultural guide give an excellent history of the Blackfoot people and the buffalo hunt.

One of the most amazing places I have been to in Canada - so much history in one place, it's truly amazing. For context, this location has been in use for longer than the Great Pyramids have existed for.
Talk to the staff as you walk in, as they'll explain the best way to experience the tour (head all the way to the top of the building so you can complete the cliff side walk first, and then complete the floors in the museum from top to bottom. Was really impressed with the show they played in the theatre as well, surprisingly good for something that is "free" after admission. Afterwards you can walk the bottom trail to experience another perspective).
There is ample free parking on site, along with washrooms with a water station.

Great experience. Lots of information and a better understanding of indigenous people's in the area over thousands of years. The interactive displays and movies fully explained process of Buffalo jumps, which I didn't know before. Highly recommend stopping in. Takes a good couple hours to take it all in.

Very educational with information about the Buffalo Jump and the Indigenous peoples. A unique museum layout that is fitting for the theme. You get a great view of the plains when you get to the top of the museum.

This is a great experience. I highly recommend it to anyone who is travelling nearby or anyone who has grown up in this area. I loved the people here who gave their time to share their culture and stories. I recommend the film and spend a bit of time outside. If you can definitely plan to visit during the dancing or if there is a special presentation or guest.

We have been here now twice and learn something new everytime. This past family day we were happy to experience the addition of extra interpreters, storytellers, and Birds of Prey on display at the site.
Take your time and bring snacks. I noticed a lot of people on Google saying HSIBJ does not allow guide dogs. We saw a service dog in the building, but like any other museum, I'm assuming that you have to prove they are a real service dog.
We will be back to experience the museum in the summer. A special thanks to Donovan, Quinton, and Conrad for sharing knowledge and being so welcoming today.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site with a lot of informative exhibits. Make sure you watch the feature film in the theater. I would recommend 2 hours for your visit. It is a 7 level museum experience but there are elevators to facilitate if you are mobility challenged.

I've been wanting to stop here for decades and finally made the time. A great display of native history. Posted interpretive plaques throughout the park and along the trail did a great job of explaining the significance of this location. A great little walk.

Well done site. The exhibits inside the building were well done and very interesting. The access to the upper cliffs was well planned out. No long hike to get there. An elevator ride and a couple flights of stairs. Well worth the trip. The story behind the name was worth reading, and very unusual. Highly recommend.

Such a beautiful and informative site! We thoroughly enjoyed the museum displays and the walking trails. Be sure to watch the 15 minite movie in the museum theater, it was very informative and well done! The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly!

This is THE place to understand how the Blackfoot people hunted for the bison (Buffalo) and how they shared their blessings with the community, how everyone helped each other to make it possible to survive the winters.
This is an absolutely amazing museum, with all the pertinent information on display. The structure is a brilliant piece of architecture. We watched the film which was done well and we were lucky enough to join a guided tour by a Blackfoot leader.
Outside, one will be able to see the exact place where the buffalos (bisons) jumped off.
I’d say 2 hours in this place would be the minimum if you’re really interested in the details.
They have real stuffed buffalos (bisons) inside the museum situated in a high location so the viewer can appreciate what it was like for the animals at the edge of the “cliff”
This museum is highly recommended, not to be missed!
The Vulcan Tourism & Trek Centre is a must-visit destination, whether or not you're a Star Trek enthusiast. The center features carefully curated displays and an impressive collection of memorabilia spanning multiple generations of the iconic series. Visitors can explore exhibits highlighting women's roles in space and even sit in the Captain's chair. The knowledgeable and passionate staff add to the experience, while the well-maintained visitor center boasts an array of signed items and unique merchandise for purchase.
Took my parents and son to visit and it was fantastic! The staff member working was very knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about Star Trek! The visitor centre was very well kept and had an impressive amount of memorabilia. Lots of items signed by stars and fun items for purchase. Drove through town and saw a large mural featuring some Star Trek cast. The streets lights were little ships! Definitely recommend stopping in Vulcan!

This was an amazing place to check out, even if you aren't a Star Trek fan. The curators put a lot of care and effort into the displays and have a lot of neat memorabilia.
There is a nice section highlighting women's roles in space which was thoughtfully crafted.
There is multiple generations of Star Trek stuff to entice any fan into visiting. My kids hadn't heard of Star Trek before but loved the displays and especially the Captain's chair.
This stop far exceeded our expectations. Thank you to the people who made it such a great experience.

We were passing through Vulcan and decided to stop at the Star Trek tourist stuff. The Enterprise was well kept and to our disappointment the Tourist center was only opened on the weekend. Stop on by and see over a half century of Star Trek merch. It brought back a lot of memories to see items from my youth and to marvel at how much Trek is out there. There's a nice tribute now to Nichelle Nichols. A library of books is available to browse and you can take home your favs for a donation. The bathrooms were good. Don't forget to tale a stroll and see the flagship of the Federation.

Must visit for Star Trek lovers! They have a lot of original Star Trek content up to the Kelvin timeline movies, but nothing with any of the new Star Trek franchises from Discovery on. Also lots of Town of Vulcan Star Trek themed merch.
You can get a green screen image printed with you on the bridge up to 45 min before they close.
Love that there is also a short real-history display of the town.
The town also hosts Vul-Con, so I will have to come back!
The Frank Slide Interpretive Centre is a museum that showcases the history of the Crowsnest Valley and the tragic event that occurred in 1903, when a deadly landslide took place. The exhibits bring to life the early days of mining and railroad development in the area. Interactive activities are available for children to enjoy. The highlight of the museum is a film dramatizing the disaster. Additionally, hiking trails from the museum take visitors over the slide site where they can experience this unique heritage first-hand.
Interesting interpretive centre, but the highlight for me was the hike through the slide. Be sure to grab a brochure or it’s just a bunch of rocks. We still had fun coming up with our own interpretations :-) A unique experience!

This is a spiritual place, where parts of a mining town and its inhabitants lie buried under a huge pile of rubble from Turtle Mountain. The Indigenous people of the area called it the moving mountain. They knew about its temperament. My only disappointment is that I visited on a Monday and the interpretive centre was not open.

Gaby Trompisto (deathbykite) — Google review
Stunning displays and views! This centre is laid out in such a way that you always feel like you are looking outside.
They have a beautiful path you can hike on outside, just be aware that it starts out fairly accessible (wide, well maintained but with a gravel surface) and transitions to uneven gravel steps and steeper slopes, until it finished with a “trail” hike back up (narrow dirt foot path with roots along a steep slope). You could always turn back and go to the wider path. This isn’t a knock against the path - I personally thought it was beautiful and nice to see all the different types represented in one adventure, however if you have mobility challenges it concerns be aware ;)

Well curated and in-depth look at the abject tragedy that occurred over a century ago. Ideal for family and adults, as there are interactive exhibits, artifacts, and general area history.
The FSIC also includes the history of Hillcrest Mining Disaster.

A must-see. The tour guides are knowledgeable about the area and are welcoming with their information about the Frank Slide and the Hillcrest Explosion. There are many viewpoints to view Turtle Mountain and facts are located at each one. Two films which explain the time period and life around Frank, AB were interesting and informative about the natural disasters. Would like to come back in the springtime to explore the path they have below the mountain.

Visiting the site of natural disasters and observing the impact on the landslides , with big rocks and a sense of history, can be a somber experience. The information center is a valuable resource, providing useful insights, and the availability of videos about the slides enhances the understanding of the area. While there is an entry fee, the numerous parking spots make it convenient for visitors to access the location.

The center is totally worth it. It takes about 1.5 hours as it includes two short films in a nice theatre. Kids has lot of fun as there was a lot to learn, great stories, kids coloring station ample parking & washroom and the best part is the amazing view of the whole slide & turtle mountain from the centre. Check out the images/videos I have added & follow for more.

There’s a short film that explains the history of the place, the people who lived in the town, the day the disaster took place and other facts. Quite interesting to stop by and check it out if you’re passing by the area.

The Frank Slide Interpretive Centre is a great museum to stop at when passing through the Crowsnest Pass area.
The museum itself is very well done and really focuses on the impacts of the slide to the town and the individual people affected by it. It is cool that you can pick up receivers to hear audio clips describing their experiences. The displays are also incredibly informative and well put together. A great place to learn.
There are also a lot of great views to be had outside and from on top of the centre. The only downside is that the staff were very pushy about wanting you to go to the films being shown in the theatre. Maybe this was just my experience, but I wasn’t pleased with the insistence of one staff member.

For years now we've got by the signs on the highway, thinking to ourselves "one of these days we'll have to go pick Saskatoon berries there."
This year, we finally made it there, for the summer solstice fair.
What a pleasant surprise!
Saskatoon farm is actually a hybrid arts and crafts market, plant nursery, fruits & vegetables farm/market, cowboy themed park. And during the solstice market it was filled merchants.
And to Crown it all, the view from The Cliff at the end of The village main street was beautiful.

The Christmas market was so fun! This was my first time visiting the Saskatoon Farm and what a great first experience! There were so many amazing vendors, such yummy food and great gifts (treat yourself too!) - truly something for everyone. Santa and Mrs. Claus were there, taking photos and bringing cheer. It was quite busy but the staff were very helping directing cars in the parking lots so we moved through quickly. We also bought our tickets in advance and downloaded them beforehand. Highly recommend - already looking forward to next year!

I went to the annual Spring market at the Saskatoon Farm over the weekend. The event was great. I purchased my $5 ticket in advance and so getting in was simple and straight forward. Inside the place was bustling with lots of people and vendors. I had lunch with my wife and friend at the on-site restaurant. Getting in took a while due to how busy it was (they provided a buzzer so I didn’t need to wait close by.) But once inside the service and food were top notch. The quiche was especially good and I’d highly recommend it. After lunch I spent time wondering the grounds, enjoying the interesting sights and sounds. In addition to the vendors they also had pens that included baby bunnies, ducks, and turtles. I would highly recommend Saskatoon Farm for anyone looking for a fun family adventure. I will definitely be going back.

There was a wait so we had a drink on the patio.
The food was good. Not as "homemade" as I'd have liked, but tasty.
The sangria was good, but I felt the beer selection could have been better. But kudos for local selections!
The service was outstanding.

I was not sure what to expect but this place turned out to be quite amazing! Fun place for a day of activities. There’s quite a few things to check out here. Including the berry picking, the green houses, restaurant, cafe, and the nice scenery in general. I would not recommend coming when it’s a sunny 25+ degree day because you’ll get overheated pretty quick if you plan on picking the berries. Was a fun time overall, the drinks in the cafeteria style building is questionable. But the Saskatoon pies in the bakery are delicious.
It was $2 per person for berry picking and each bucket is $15 regardless of weight. If you’re a family, you can combine everything into a single bucket as well.

My family and I absolutely love this place, from having a great restaurant, delicious pastries, perfect produce, a variety of plants/trees, great views and lots more. We typically go on the weekend to have breakfast at the restaurant or just the pastries, then pick up some produce, walk around, let our little one feed the bunnies, and have a coffee. My wife says this is one of her favorite places in all of Calgary, and yes this is not Calgary but close enough. I love supporting a local business like this that is so unique and has lots of great things to offer. We are loyal customers and we will continue visiting throughout the year for all the events they have.

Went here in a group of 4 for Saturday lunch and farm experience. It’s a great place if you’re looking to spend a bright sunny day in farm and have a feast alongside. There was a 30 minute waiting for table but you could very much spend that time roaming around, checking out their bakery, shops and farmers market. In food, we tried Yam fries, Onion rings, Vegetarian tacos, burrito and enchiladas. Out of these, I would recommend Yam fries, enchiladas and tacos. Burrito got soggy with its filling, so it was not as enjoyable as others. Overall a good experience, however one-time.

The Saskatoon Farm truly is a hidden gem nestled just off the highway. It encompasses a charming restaurant, a delightful bakery, and a sprawling farmers market. During our visit, we had the pleasure of exploring the diverse offerings, which included a pack of frozen waffles, delectable muffins, and a bounty of fresh produce including succulent blueberries and cherries. The abundance of vegetables was truly impressive.
When the weather is on your side, taking a leisurely stroll around the grounds makes for a wonderful afternoon activity. The restaurant primarily boasts an array of mouthwatering Mexican dishes, peppered with a few American options. Our taste buds were treated to a delightful symphony of flavors, and the beverages were equally delightful. Although it's worth noting that the drinks arrived lukewarm without ice. If you prefer a chilled drink, I recommend requesting some ice to enhance your experience.
Beyond the culinary delights, Saskatoon Farm is a multifaceted establishment that combines the allure of an arts and crafts market, a plant nursery, a farm market overflowing with fresh fruits and vegetables, and even a charming cowboy-themed park. Our visit coincided with the solstice market, where merchants gathered to create a vibrant and lively atmosphere.
In sum, Saskatoon Farm is a true gem that pleasantly surprised us with its multifarious offerings. Whether you're seeking delectable treats, a leisurely stroll, or an eclectic market experience, this is the perfect destination to satiate your senses and enjoy a great day out

Lovely place with lots of beautiful views and friendly people. Farmers market has wide choice of freshly picked produce, the bakery has lots of amazing pastries.
Kids also loved to watch local animals

The freshest vegetables full of taste, delicious pastries from the bakery, beautiful spot to walk around on a sunny day. Bring your kids or go for a date, and look out for special events - we went for the fall harvest days.

My family have been coming here for the past few years... without me! Today, I finally got to do so. It reminds me of Davidson farm in b.c. but a smaller one. I think I like this better because it's more intimate. All the old stuff they got on displays just appeals to me.
I could imagine how festive it is during summer and Christmas time.

Very cute Christmas Market! Many vendors to shop at and plenty of stops to take cute pictures! I'd love to come back in the Summer and see what else they offer!

This farm is just outside of the city, We visited the farmers market, which had local vendors offering many goods, like honey, spices, and art ...you need to check it for yourself. The farm offers delicious Saskatoon pies, it's a must when you visit and of course you can get fresh vegetables for your dinner.

Bar U Ranch National Historic Site is a living museum that provides visitors the chance to experience ranching skills in a hands-on manner. The site features heritage building walks and horse-drawn wagon rides, which take you back in time to explore its two dozen buildings including a post office, corral, cookhouse, smithy, and slaughterhouse. Bar U Ranch was one of the world's largest commercial ranches at its peak in 1882 with over 160,000 acres of land.
Living in Calgary all my life, I had never stopped here …. until today. We finished camping further south and pulled in to this National Historical Site. It’s still a working ranch. But, quite small compared to the original size and scope of the ranch. Great staff who are so knowledgeable and friendly. Amazing displays in original buildings. We went for a wagon ride and learned so much history about Southern Alberta that is never taught in school! Even my 12 yr old enjoyed his time at the Bar U Ranch.

So much to see and learn about ranching, how things were done.
Staff is knowledgable and friendly and love sharing all their knowledge with everyone who visits. If you find it too much to walk they will take you by cart. You can use your Parks Canada Discovery pass to get in.

I didnt think I'd have much of an interest in going to visit an historical ranch, but I was def wrong. The staff were incredibly nice and knowledgeable; they even gave me tons of tips on what to do in Waterton. It was amazing learning about an important part of Alberta history that i never even thought about. Go, give yourself at least 2 hours and hope it was as fascinating to others as if was for me.

I visited Bar U Ranch early in the morning, before the operating hours. The ranch appeared to hold a promise of interesting exhibits and activities. A future visit to Bar U Ranch while in the Calgary area is definitely on my agenda.

Visit the only ranch preservation site and national historic site in Canada. Free entry with a year round Canada Parks pass. The staff are super friendly and informative - thank you for preserving our history. Take a walk amongst century old ranch buildings and see (and pet) the draft horses. There's a wagon ride, too. Perfect for a day in the beautiful foothills along Cowboy Trail.
Anthony Imbrogno — Google review
They have a restored house that has lots of interesting retro packaging and items. You can go for a wagon ride to see more of the property. There's someone there that gives a talk about the history of the ranch. Very informative and worth the visit.

We got married at the Ranch October 1, 2022 and it was just AMAZING! The staff felt like family and went above and beyond to make our day one of a kind and a perfect unforgettable experience. We planned our wedding in 10 weeks, had 100 people, and they helped pull of this magical day with us with ease and you could have thought it took a year or more to plan. They worked with us to create a menu in our budget and the food was delicious and plenty. There are so many photo opportunities that we didn’t even get to use every idea and still had plenty of captures that were just spectacular and captured our vision perfectly. This location is a hidden gem and in my eyes underrated , while other Venues had a 2 year wait list and that are WAY more expensive, this location was available during 2022 and on short notice ( one of the busiest years for weddings yet according to records) . I can’t say enough good things about this venue, if you are looking for any sort of country themed wedding , you can’t go wrong with this gem. I am still in shock of how affordable it was and I literally had a wedding of my dreams that even included a horse drawn carriage that I arrived in and we used for pictures and that my guests got to ride in as well. The whole event “grand total” for the whole day didn’t even total the “minimum “ for some other venues that are comparable to this one. Hands down recommend and hands down would chose this location over and over again. I will definitely be a regular visitor here as it holds such special memories for us and to us will always be Magical.

Loved the experience! Staff were super friendly and had some great conversations about the history and surrounding areas. Free entry with a National Park pass, wagon ride and super cute replicas of the homes, teepees and Alberta times. Spacious parking, water fountain for refilling your water bottle and clean washrooms, gift shop and more. Prepare to walk around the park, learn and take photos.

Worth the drive from calgary. The presentations are great ; the interior of the buildings are meticulously well ‘staged’ and add life to an already authentic decor. Just enough to read on the boards; lots of photos and illustrations. English only though. Nice for kids. We had 1 staff person only but she graciously did 2 presentations : the campsite and the lasso throwing. We also did the horse carriage tour (15min around the ranch). The outdoor parts of site get very hot in summer: bring hat and sunscreen. Buildings are shaded and cool.

The Bar U Ranch National Historic Site should be a place on everyone’s bucket list. There is so much to learn here about Alberta’s early ranching history.
The old buildings are all open and available for you to walk through. Some have lots of signage, whereas others are lacking signage. It would be neat to see more signage and have some more information on some of the people who lived and worked on the ranch over the years. A discussion of the E. P. Ranch would also probably be a valuable inclusion.
Overall, the Bar U Ranch is a great place to stop and spend a few hours to learn about Alberta’s ranching history.
Okotoks Erratic, located in the town of Okotoks, is a massive glacial boulder that weighs around 16,500 tonnes and stands at 9 meters tall. It is believed to have been left by glacial activity thousands of years ago and is considered a remarkable sight and an iconic landmark of Okotoks. The rock landed in its current location during a rockslide between 10,000 to 30,000 years ago.
Good pit stop place. Nice short walk around an impressive rock which seems very out of place at first, until you read the fascinating story of how it arrived from the Jasper area thousands of years ago. Washrooms are clean.

Well, what can you say! It’s a pretty big rock.
In the middle of a plain, so out of place yet so beautifully in place. There are information boards about how it got there all the way from Jasper! A short visit location but you can just chill there. A 10 min walk around the rock. Good parking options and historically impressive! Feels good to have visited here!
P.s Sorry the photos are dark, we got there after 10.30 PM.

What to do within half an hour of Calgary❓
If you pass by this town, you must come and touch the magical flying rock of the Rocky Mountains~
✔️ Although Okotoks Erratic is a small attraction, this rare giant rock is believed to be left by glacial activity thousands of years ago, making it a remarkable sight and a iconic landmark of Okotoks❗️
✔️ Okotoks Erratic is a massive glacial boulder, towering at 9 meters and weighing 16,500 tons, resembling a mini version of the Stonehenge!
✔️ "Prairie Dog Haven": It's full of cute prairie dogs 🐿️, just like the real-life version of the "Whack-a-Mole" game we played in the park as kids. They pop out of their burrows, munch on food, and stand up to watch the crowd, super adorable 😍
✔️ "Hiking Adventure": You can head to the Big Rock Trail 🏞️, meandering along the river's edge. Along the way, you'll enjoy expansive views of the prairie and even see a small horse ranch 🐎.

The Calgary Zoo is a large zoo located in the heart of the city. It is home to a variety of animals, including some endangered and rare species. The zoo also has a variety of play areas for children, as well as keeper talks throughout the day. Springtime is a popular time to visit because new animals are born!
Best place to spend a day inside the city. I liked watching penguins the most. It was like you are in a entirely different world. Watching bear accumulating leaves for making himself warm was an encouraging experience. Lions were all sleeping but it was very near to the watch glass as it was just centimeters apart. Watching gorillas playing each other was another wonderful experience. The tropical climate setting for the tropical animals is really amazing. Overall really nice experience 😎

Fantastic place to spend some beautiful times with family and see varieties of animals. They divided the zoo in different areas: Canadian, African, Asian, Prehistoric (which is really nice) based on the animal categories. Specially, the penguin place is really awesome. African rain forest is also great. Those who are interested in dinosaurs, the Prehistoric area is a must visit. Ample of parking on the north and west side of the zoo. The north parking lot is divided into three lots: A, B, and C. I think lot B is closest to the entrance. However, the north lot has a fixed daily rate of CAD 12 (which is good for people who plan to spend whole day, might not worth for people who spend only few hours). The west lot charges hourly rate, which might be good for people for short visit.

This was a really enjoyable experience. Great habitats for all the different animals, and a great variety. The gardens and butterfly house were exceptional too. We would have paid to see them on their own. So much shade, plenty of places to eat or picnic, many playgrounds and kid friendly exhibits. We caught the train from downtown. Very easy and quick.

Superbly variety of special animals in this zoo, it’s really worth to visit at least once. 👌
Entry ticket 🎟️ charges is $35 per person. Parking 🅿️ 🚙 charge is $13 for whole day.
Penguins 🐧 section is the best one ☝️
Usually 4-5 hrs can be spent here but full day is preferable. My kid really like it.
It’s increasing the feather in the crown of Calgary in terms of tourism sector. 👍

I grew up going to the zoo with my grandparents and family.
Over 15 years since I've been and the charm hasn't changed at all. All the expansions and additional exhibits are amazing, interactive and informative.
Having staff at each exhibit helps keep the flow of strollers moving ;) (I was a part of that parade)
But the staff are also keen to answer questions and engage with visitors.
Lots of additional activities to do as well. Ferris wheel, parks and of course the beautiful green spaces and gardens.
Will be back soon!

We really enjoyed the walk through. I feel the animals are a little laid back at this time of year. Though it was reasonably quiet still on a busy day. The parks are a fun time for the kids. When you decide to take a leisurely stroll it works well. Grateful we had the opportunity to take the kids this year. :)

Beautiful place, it will be great to have more spaces for animals. Like open areas for Africa. The penguins were great! The dinosaurs are great! They are renovating the Canadian part. Now… all the workers have megaphones and sometimes they are using them too much. Things that they can tell you personally they use de megaphone. I put 4 stars because of this. Thanks!

Super fun for both kids and adults. The animals are well taken care of. My favourite part was the butterfly enclosure! There were so many gorgeous butterflies all throughout the conservatory garden ranging from different stages of life.
I'd highly recommend visiting on a weekday early in the morning if you're not a fan of crowds, as this place gets extremely packed super fast.

My wife and I have had longtime membership to this excellent venue. We see zoo's in every city and country that we visit. Calgary is amongst the very best. Our last visit inspired a month trip to Madagascar 🇲🇬 where we saw many Lemur species and chameleon that are unique to this amazing country. I've selected a few of our Madagascar pictures. Come to the zoo to see their Lemurs and animals from around the world. It is a great place for parents and kids of all ages. I love what I call - the daily stroller brigade.

Animals look good, zoo looks clean. Sad that Dino world was closed. We sow a lot of animals, they seem happy. Recommend to visit greenhouse with butterflies. Very beautiful!
Also, buy tickets in advance, because it’s definitely cheaper and faster. Ticket costs 37$, but only it’s possible to buy for 30$ (for weekdays)

Unfortunately many exhibits and buildings are closed due to Avian flu precautions. This was a true lazy Sunday. Not many animals moving around. Through no fault of the zoo itself, this was a lackluster experience. Any area with birds were closed. Gorilla and Otter pavilions closed. It's been years since I had been to this zoo and if seemed that many animals were gone and it was not as great as I remembered. This zoo used to rival Toronto zoo for the overall experience. It has Fallen backwards in recent years.

Those who are visiting for the very first time please be aware that this is going to hurt your legs a lot..😃 The area is large and you have to walk around especially if you have kids with you please take stroller with you (You gonna need it) If you have old age company plz take accessibility cart so they can enjoy too!!
Now once you are in the zoo you will enjoy every minute here. Zoo keepers are there to help you with the path to follow but still having a map with you is a must. Enjoy nature and the animals. Keep an umbrella to protect against the sun ☀️.. Overall my experience was amazing. I was not even able to complete the first section of Africa Safari. I will visit again.

What a amazing way to spend a day!! 😍 This place is a must visit for any and everyone.
The zoo was beautiful with lots of animals. The Dorothy garden was especially very beautiful. Make sure you have an entire day to spend here as the zoo is pretty big with lots of walking.
We went there at 9am in the morning on Heritage day and it was just beginning to get crowded, so we were able to view a lot the animals relatively without much crowds. But by the time it was mid day there were a lot more people there, so make sure you plan accordingly.
Overall this was an amazing experience and I am waiting to go back here once again.

One of the best places to visit in the city, and easily one of the premier zoos in North America ( I would know, I have visited more than 50 of them.)
Lots of parking, great membership value, excellent food/dining options, huge repeatability factor with a different and new experience each time.
There are parts that are certainly under utilized and feeling aged/run down (namely as of Nov 2023 the Asia section), and the dinosaur area seems like a weird space filler that could be better served with real animals, but other regions are stellar.
The 2 big Africa Houses are simply fantastic, as is the penguin house, and the brilliant Wild Canada section. At the time of writing this review, there will even be polar bears in just two weeks.
In short, this zoo is great all year around, for all ages, and I’d highly recommend visiting
Steven Barks — Google review
So it's a good zoo. It's got many animals that all look well cared for. They look like they really try their best with them and that to me is paramount when visiting a zoo or Aquarium. I downgraded the rating because it's really expensive in my opinion. Although much of the exhibit isn't running or viewable at this time of year. It makes sense why it's not operating as it's winter and cold. It happened to be warm when we went. We spent 4 hours there and still didn't get through everything though. It is a large zoo. You can save a couple dollars if you buy online and in advance.

I love what they have done to the zoo, expanding the outdoor wild animal area with a beautiful large area for the polar bears, and a beautiful large indoor and out for the different penguins.
There is a separate light show after 5 pm this time of year for Christmas that looked like it would have been beautiful to see if I had more time.
I definitely would purchase a year pass if I lived here.
All construction is completed and the garden areas are now just two instead of the 4 or 5 areas they used to have.

This is one of the best zoos I have been to. All of the animals looked very healthy and had outstanding enclosures. Most of the animals were in their regular enclosures, even in March. The land of lemurs was unfortunately closed due to the cold weather. The indoor portions of the zoo were very cool (or should I say hot) and immersed us in the natural environment of the animals. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I will definitely be visiting again.

My partner and I visited to see the Polar Bears and also enjoy the Christmas lights. It was as calm as usual though more exciting this time around with new animals. I loved the Mountain Goat (they sure looked stubborn as hell)😊
Unfortunately there wasn't anything much to see in the Asian axis and I wonder what the space is actually for.
Overall, it's great for anyone seeking to refresh by walking and learning a bit more about the wonderful creatures we have around us.

My love for animals takes me to popular zoo visits very often 🤩 Honestly, not a huge supporter of caging the wildlife but they are good source of inspiration, information and entertainment for all ages. Canada’s second largest animal zoo was quite enjoyable! Despite the cold late December visit, zoo attracted 8k visitors which is a popular summer number! My favorites were penguins, chimpanzees, polar bear, tiger and Hippo 😍 the zoo has more than 200 species and they are very well kept.
Didn’t realize how I spent the whole day visiting variety of animals, aviaries and butterfly sanctuary. Grabbed a quick snack at the zoo cafeteria (their revenue supports the zoo animals 🙏) and strolled through whole zoo in Christmas lights and decorations for another couple hours! Mesmerized by lightning and music, didn’t feel an inch of cold! Could also plan for a bubble/glass gazebo dinner in advance for a romantic dinner ✨
A Must to do list in Calgary and earn your share of memories ☺️👍

We got a lot of snow today in Calgary and the zoo was a good choice for entertainment. We read it is the second largest zoo in Canada. We went to see the polar bears and we were not disappointed. What majestic creatures. A nicely laid out zoo with clear signage in the zoo itself. We got a membership each and have been back twice, and still haven't seen the whole zoo. The membership is a great value and the zoo itself is excellent.

The Heritage Park is a large open air museum that showcases Western Canada's history from the 1860s to the 1950's. The park contains a variety of historically accurate reconstructed buildings, as well as live and working exhibits of classic cars, horses and carts. There are also plenty of attractions for children including a steam engine ride and a paddlewheel tour boat.
Definitely worth getting an annual pass for a repeated visit to this museum of historical memories. Watch out for ever ready guides who will give you a detailed run down of events that resulted in the space you occupy. From automobiles to Quilts. Remarkable occurrence throughout the ages

This is such a fun place to bring the family! There are so many things to do here. We rode the steam train, looked at the train cars, blacksmith shop, dentist office, rode on the rides, visited the gift shop, ate donuts and cotton candy. Then there was so much more we didn't get to do because we ran out of time. There are employees everywhere in costume to help out or talk about the different buildings and things to see. Everyone was so helpful and kind! The treats were yummy and reasonably priced. This time we were here with a school trip but we've been here before with just family. Love this place! Next time we'll visit the ranch and ride the boat.

An excellent tourist attraction for everyone particularly an exciting and exhilarating place for a family with children.
The heritage park village, in the proximity to Bow river and a huge dock, consists of clean green lawns, paved walking trails, and attractive statues of various animals. It also has a train that take you around the park.
There are lots of tables everywhere to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenic views and electrified visitors.
Also there are shops and restaurants near the entrance where you can buy souvenirs or ice cream of your choice.
I wish, the park has so much to offer, that it remained open until at least 8:00 pm in summer. Unfortunately, it closes at five, so the security guards start chasing people away from 4:30. Isn't 4:30 too early to wind up and send the enthusiastic people away in the long sunny days in Calgary?

Normally there is a fee $30-40 for each entry.

The park is an awesome idea, combining nice strolls in the open air, with historical exhibits, preserved or restored. Their summer and xmas markets are less busy than others around the city and its cool to hunt down all the locations throughout the park. the bakery is always busy, with long lines... they should really get extra staff and better distribution in nearby cafes and restaurants.

I'm not a huge fan of tourist destinations but was visiting Calgary to see my 5 year old grandchild so if course went along for the fun. If you live in Calgary and whether you have children or not this is a must. My daughter decided to apply what she paid for 4 of us that day to a yearly pass as we were leaving. So worth it! It's pricey but once you get inside everything except food is free. In summer bring a picnic as the selection of grab and go food isn't great. They do have some dine-in restaurants but we thought too much time would be wasted with a 5 year old. The small midway is delightful with 100 year old rides with fantastic story boards. After spending 4+ hours there I was ready to go back the next day to explore more. Well done Heritage Park!

We have the best experience exploring the park. We rode the train to go around and eat ice cream and some other sweet staff they have. It was a great fresh air visiting the farm yard and the little town around. The vintage cars are cool as well.

Great place for family and kids. It has lot of rides for all ages. The building looks very genuine. The staffs are very helpful. I would recommend everyone to visit especially people living in Calgary. Annual subscription fee is reasonable.

What a place where you really get into the past! You can feel the real Wild West and take a ride on an old train. All vintage equipment works and is in excellent condition. There's also an amazing exhibition of vintage cars that you won't see anywhere else!

It's an incredible place not to be missed on your visit to Calgary. The area has been kept like it jade been in the early 20th century and certain things have been added to raise the atmosphere of that period.
You can easily spend the future day in the village as the place is huge. There is a train going around the village that you should not miss. Also, the half-hour horse ride where you will get to know the details of the place from the guide is very interesting.
Make sure that you go here on a sunny day as you will be walking a lot outside.

This place is huge- it could easily fill an entire day with everything from automobile collections, pioneer life, and coal mining as well as a really well done old-fashioned midway. I enjoyed the fact everything was included in the admission. We also ate at a really nice restaurant there- the food was perfect. And if you want to ride the train, a tractor pulled cart or horse pulled carriage you are in luck!

We visited during a weekday at the end of the season, when it was closed. This means we missed out on some of the immersion into history. Special arranges had been made for our group of 20 from Arizona! Thank you! The Guide was fantastic! She was enthusiastic, well versed in all of the details. This is a great place for imagining history!

Most of the park was closed by the time I arrived so I explored the lake and walked the trail to see if I could catch a good sunset which never came 🙃 I drove 6.5 hours the day before so needed a more low key day. The next time I am in the area, I definitely want to check it out when it's open. It looks like a pretty cool spot. There was clear bottom kayaks out in the water from a tour company also.

A rare Canadian gas-powered motorised bicycle, which cost twice the price of a standard bicycle and retailed for $96 (back in 1949). Amazing 🚲to see modern-day eBikes having similar features. We also loved all the many antique vehicles in the Gasoline Alley Museum 💖
The Calgary Stampede is an annual rodeo that features cowboy-style entertainment and exhibits. It is a popular event with over a million people attending each year.
We went to the Stampede last summer (2021) and we had an Amazing time! I'll start with the Fireworks...the amazing Fireworks, just, when we thought the fireworks were over...they would start again :) Definitely the most wonderful fireworks display I'd ever seen.
The show itself was very organized, even, with such a large area, we never really felt lost because of the abundance of information available. Well done Stampede organizers.

Having lived out here for 12 years I’ve only been to Stampede twice, with last week on Friday parade day being one of those. After two long years of the pandemic, it was nice to feel the energy and the excitement, and the rhythm of the music at the stampede grounds. It can get overly crowded for sure and unfortunately there’s always the ones that don’t know how to behave properly, but mostly overall people were having a good time. That’s what it should be about. I have to leave one star off because I don’t agree with the use of animals in entertainment, and inevitably there are always animals that get killed at this event which is an aspect I detest.

So much fun for people of all ages! The rides are great fun. Food is delicious, and a huge variety. You could spend so much time here. Nashville North was great for dancing with friends! Musical acts are pretty popular as well. Saw Sheryl Crow a few years back for free. Such an amazing memory! Hoping to make it back here again in the future.

We didn't attend any of the main shows but we explored the other attractions and the food. It was loads of fun! After two years of pandemic isolation, it was really nice to be in this festive atmosphere surrounded by people enjoying themselves.
One of the main highlights was the Elbow River Camp of the Indigenous people of the region. It was absolutely fantastic! We attended a dance performance there and at the same time learned more about their culture, traditions, and ceremonies. We also ate bannock with jam, which is a heavy but tasty snack. Definitely going to come back again next year!

Very nice, this was my first rodeo, it will definitely not be my last. I had a really good time in spite of people asking to be let out- back in- let out- back in-.... If you know you are going to have to keep moving you should get an outside seat. Smh

One must go to this stampede at least once if not every time. My favourite were the motorcycle stunts featured on a particular evening that I could not shoot but it was thrilling. Display by the Canadian army is also my favourite.
There is something for everyone. Food , rides, children rides, face painting, betting, gambling, clubbing , alcohol, performing arts, live music and the high list spectacular fireworks.
It’s very very busy during Calgary stampede but the joy is sometimes in the crowd n rush. Still the management of such a massive scale event is great. Everything flows smoothly. Buy tickets at the gate or online and you are zoomed into the GM huge grounds . Oh I forgot to mention the horse show. I missed it but I was happy just to see the stables. Must go place

Took in the 2023 Rodeo finals from the infield.
It was an awesome show of dedication.
The crowd was invested and the competition was fierce.
Near perfect performances created champions that the crowd roared for.
The midway is always a gong show. Crazy numbers of people. All the lineups you could ever want to wait in. And the food, you'll be glad you tried it but wish you didn't.
The livestock and the shows and everything that stampede brings to Calgary is world class.
And the Coke stage is always a must.
Took in Mother Mother this year and it was just an awesome show.
Plenty of people hate on the Stampede because it makes the city a little crazy with traffic, people and events, but it's really truly something to experience.

The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth and rightly so lives up to its expectations each & every year we visit this place! One cannot get enough of the place in a day. Wish it would last more than 10 days in a year!
On average 1.0M people visit the event each year from as far as Far East, Middle East, Europe and United States and from other parts of our great country Canada 🇨🇦

Rodeo was alot of fun! Going as a family you need 2 days at the stampede to really enjoy everything the park has to offer. ( rides, agriculture arena, dog show and entertainment, food, rodeo, fireworks, evening shows)
We had a great time and will be back next year!
** Buy the day pass not stamps!! or rides will cost you a fortune.
Clori S — Google review
Five stars for the rodeo! Absolutely fantastic!
The rest....the kids entertainment is crammed in a little corner. So many children and parents waiting to see Paw Patrol and they have the tiniest little stage and seating area. They can't join in or even see half the time. Waited 1.5 hours to watch a 20 minute show because last year our son was at the back of a huge crowd and could not see a thing.
Doesn't really feel like a celebration of western culture, just a 10 day fancy dress party aimed at people that will spend a ton of money on alcohol. Not really family friendly at all (except for kids day (morning) which is really good).
I will state again though that the rodeo is fab! Wish we didn't have to go through the rowdy, drunken crowds to get out of the stampede grounds though and back to our vehicle.

Yes. So happy we were fortunate to attend the Stampede. First time ever.
One day we went to see the Chuck Wagon Races .. the next day attended the Stampede Rodeo and musical variety show and fireworks.
Walked around and enjoyed the grounds.
Unbelievable how many people were there. Whoa
I have attached a few photos.
If you get a chance to attend the Stampede next year, Go. Yaaaahooo

After a 17 year gap, we decided to check out the Calgary Stampede - we always enjoy watching coverage on TV but it’s fun to walk the midway and grounds and see live shows. The daily schedule helped us to plan the day and we lucked out by getting in free before 11:00am - not sure why but 🤠. We enjoyed: the RCMP Musical Ride - a proud Canadian tradition and celebration of 150 years of service; the illusionist, Stampede Show Riders, River Camp village with Indigenous dancers, market place displays, animal displays, show band, and Canine Stars. Searching for gluten free options was a bit of a chore but we found some poutine, dole whip and caramel apples. 😋see pictures. We ended our day with a T&S concert at the Coca Cola stage which is an amazing new-and-improved outdoor stage venue. We are 50+ so didn’t partake in rides or much after 10:30 but after 12 hours we had a full day!

One and only of its kind in entire North America if I am not wrong.
You got food, rides, cultural activities, music and what not. Remember it is for 10 days only so make sure you visit it at least once since it is worth it.
I bought a ticket online and it was 90 bucks worth.

We were glad we went, and a two day visit was enough! One giant theme park, which is great for the kids, and also so many food and drinks vendors. It seems to be about, sell, sell, sell, rather than about conservation, compassion, and preservation of tradition. However, saying all of that, it is the biggest outdoor show we've ever been to...

A free standing viewing tower in Calgary, Alberta with panoramic views of the city below and beyond. The tower is also home to a revolving restaurant that enables tourists to enjoy the thrilling sensation of being 191 meters above the city.
The Calgary Tower is a big structure. It was also an incredible experience to be on the top floor of this structure. From the top floor, we have a 360-degree view of the city. We can also see the nearest towering skyscraper. From the gallery, this is such a lovely scene. I would advise others to go see this tower.

Must see place when you are in Calgary. Easy to find it in the center, no need to buy tickets in advance - you can make it here (payment with cash or card). Going up by the elevator and then - amazing picturesque view to the entire city!
We went there in the evening close to sunset, so we were able to make amazing photos with the sunset from different sides.
Glass floor may seem to be kinda tension from the beginning but after all - isn’t it exciting to see the city under your feet? 😃
There is short movie about the construction of the tower and Alberta in general. Take time to watch it - useful information.
There is restaurant here but it needs reservation (often crowded). I believe restaurant visitors can go to the tower for free - there is separate entrance for them.
There is souvenir shop at the ground floor. Somehow high prices but worth looking.
Take a look at the walls as well - there is information about different towers in the world.

We enjoyed our lunch at Sky 360, which is a rotating restaurant. While we enjoyed great food, we were amused by the view of the surroundings at the height of about 200 meters. As the view is panoramic, we did not go to the observation deck and avoid paying $21 admission fees. If you really want to go, you will save 55% of admission charges if you spent $20 or more in Sky 360.

Very beautiful place, enjoyable & so lovely.
Reservations are not recommended.. just visit and buy own tickets. Because after purchasing online you might not be receiving confirmation message due to server detect lead some hassle on checking nonetheless. So better just go and buy your tickets accordingly. You can take some drinks/ snacks with you in case the skydeck restaurant is closed.
A particularly sophisticated trip to this birds eye view!

I have been to many observation towers around the world (Japan, Toronto, Malaysia, South Korea, etc.) I gave the Calgary Tower a try.
A ticket costs $22.
I think about 45 minutes is all you need on the observation deck. They have a water fountain on the observation deck too.
The area has a brief video and some facts shown around the room.
It is also the place where you can catch a bus to and from the airport which makes a day trip super convenient.
The Calgary Tower reminds me of the same quality as KL Tower in Malaysia. They could do more with it.

I love visiting observation decks of towers/skyscrapers, so Calgary Tower was on my must-visit list during my recent half-day stopover in the city. Although it is dwarfed by recent skyscrapers, it is still an iconic structure! I have to give a big kudos to the staff member working at the elevator foyer on the ground floor, welcoming and saying goodbye to visitors (Feb 25, afternoon) - she was so enthusiastic for what seemed like a repetitive job!
The observation deck itself was clean, well-maintained, and seemed to be recently renovated. I visited on a clear day and the view was quite nice. There is a glass floor, clear panels describing the landmarks that you could see out of the windows, interesting information around the inner walls, and a short film about the tower's construction/history. There is a water fountain and seating to just take in the view. However, the stairs to the second floor are blocked. Hope they can find another use for that space.
I thought it was interesting that the tower was built for the purpose of commemorating Canada's centennial year of 1967 (although it was completed in 1968), quite a few years before CN Tower was built. I wonder if the tower would have been designed to be much taller had it been the reverse order. We'll never know!

The Calgary Tower is an iconic landmark in the heart of the city that offers an unforgettable experience with its panoramic views of Calgary and the surrounding Rocky Mountains. Located in downtown Calgary, the tower features a revolving restaurant, observation deck, and glass floor that provides a thrilling view of the city below.
Entering the tower, visitors are quickly ushered to the high-speed elevator that takes them up to the observation deck in a matter of seconds. The view from the top is awe-inspiring, with a 360-degree view that encompasses the entire city and its stunning skyline. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer a clear and unobstructed view of Calgary's sprawling landscape, including major landmarks such as the famous Canadian Rockies.
Visitors can enjoy a full 60-minute rotation of the restaurant, which is a great way to take in both the view and the fine dining experience. The food here is top-notch, and the service is excellent, making it one of the most sought-after dining experiences in the city.
The glass floor on the observation deck at the Calgary Tower is a unique and thrilling attraction that challenges visitors to face their fear of heights. Walking on the glass floor is an exciting experience that provides a bird's-eye view of the streets, crowds, and bustling city below. Though a bit scary at first, it is a true test of bravery, and the adrenaline rush is well worth the thrilling experience.
Overall, the Calgary Tower is a highlight of the city and a must-visit attraction for anyone exploring Calgary. With its breathtaking views, exciting glass floor, and top-notch dining, it's a must-see for both visitors and locals alike. Its a great place to spend a few hours and is suitable for visitors of all ages!

It's definitely worth seeing (one of the attractions I would add to the must-do list if visiting Calgary). Very breathtaking views, glass floor (part of it, but still scary), toilet upstairs as well (comfortable when you are with a stroller). Byw, there are no toilets downstairs in the building. We wanted to visit a restaurant as well (it is possible to do in Vancouver's tower upstairs), but without reservation, it was impossible even if it was 1 or 2 p.m. hightly recommended.

Once your at the top, the views were beautiful. It was fun standing on the glass floor. They had small plaques where they pointed out what buildings we were looking at which was informative.
Besides looking outside, there was nothing else to do.
I found it a bit pricey.

Visiting the Calgary Tower was a highlight of our trip! The view from the top is truly spectacular, offering a stunning panorama of the city and distant mountains. There's plenty of interesting information available about the sights you're seeing, which adds a nice educational touch to the visit. Prince's Island reminds me a lot of Vancouver. It's a nice little getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Princess Park is a beautiful and blissful place to spend an afternoon strolling, go for a morning run, enjoy some buskers, or traverse through to get to the restaurants and bars on the other side of the river.

The River Cafe is most certainly fine dining and the extra novelty of walking to the establishment creates a lasting memory fit for any special occasion.

Prince's Island is a very pretty park in the center of Calgary. It owes its name to one Peter Prince, originally from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, who started the Eau Claire & Bow River Lumber Company in 1886. The island was formed in the river when Prince dug a channel (now the arm of the river on the south side of the island) to harness the water power for his lumber mill.
It is a very pretty place to visit, there is a single building on the island, the River Cafe.
There are three pedestrian bridges and causeway access to the island, only utility vehicles are allowed.

There are lots of trees and lush green grounds with benches to enjoy the nature and the river.
There is a children playground with various equipment to keep them active and occupied in the natural surroundings.
Also, a cafeteria and washrooms are on the park to cater to the needs of visitors.

Fun and entertainment for the whole family. Visited for the first time and we had a blast. Online ticket price worth it. So many rides for kids and adults. My 2yr old had an amazing time. Perfect family activity.

Great place for family and kids. A beautiful summer day get-away from Calgary. Going on a public holiday or long weekend wouldn’t be recommended at all as it’s tightly packed and takes a good while just waiting in queue’s itself.
There is a handful and more of games and activities there. A lot of them need extra pay than the entry fee to the park. There are also height restrictions on some rides for smaller kids. Bumper cars are available for both small kids and adults separately. Kids under 10 have a great deal to enjoy, although I should mention that the number of adult rides and actual adventure rides were very few. What surprised me most was that it was although a water theme park, there was no swimming pool. There was a mini spray park for kids but that was about it.
Parking is available and safety measures seemed to be on point from what I saw. Was a happy and fun day experience and would visit and recommend again! Worth visiting for families with small kids.

We Had a great time with my family at Calaway. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. There are lots of rides for everyone, more for little ones
My only complaint was that the tickets 🎟️ are expensive $350 for 4 kids and 2 Adults 😅😅
You can bring snacks water and food 😃

Lots of fun for the kiddos, and if you have season passes it's well worth it. We have taken the kiddos about 15 times this summer and we have always had a great experience. Protective measures for covid are in place, social distancing in lines and on rides, as well as regular sanitation of rides. We have really enjoyed this season.

My family and I took my three year old son for his first time. I haven't been to Calaway Park since I was a teenager and I always loved it as a kid so I was very exited to go again. My family and I had an amazing time. We were very pleasantly surprised at how many rides my son was able to go on both with us or by himself. Everything was clean, the ride attendants were awesome. We weren't sure how my toddler would enjoy the rides but he had a blast on everything and so did we. An amazing day filled with happy memories I won't forget. We will be back again soon, and regularly every year too.

Staff are really good at watching for safety issues and making sure kids are safe.
Plenty for all ages to do.
Haven't sampled the food yet but prices look super reasonable.
Always love a good log flume!

Omg...so much fun for my little guy. So happy they have centered the park around the smaller kids. My child is 6 and there were tons of rides and games he could play and he did. Thank you for a wonderful day outing. He can hardly wait to go back again.

Amazing place, many rides that are very scenically and nicely placed to add to the atmosphere of the place. My favorite rides were the water related ones and the swings. There seems to be way more rides for advanced ride takers than begginer to intermediate ones like me that's the only downside of this place. There are many washrooms and restaurants that serve vegetarian options. The majority of bathrooms were clean with the exception of one that was extremely dirty. Overall positive experience

Great time with my 6 year old niece. It's was busy but ride lines moved fast. That said, it took us almost an hour to order lunch and the food wasn't great. We will bring a picnic next time.

We have 2 young children (4 & 7) and we had such a great time. The rides are great for younger kids. My 4 year old could go on almost all the rides, and it's really nice to be able to go on with the kids on the smaller ones. The lines were short and the treats scattered around the park you could purchase were tasty. We will definitely get a seasons pass next year.

We had a fun experience here during May 22 holiday. Perfect as we do not experience long wait times. Rides are mostly the same especially for kids with heights between 3ft -4ft. Purchasing a season pass is a great idea.
Second visit is awesome day too! Perfect weather to try the other rides. And almost all rides are open now.
Don’t forget sunblock, water and snacks! 😊

I thought it was only for kids. It's amazing to know I fit in perfectly. All ages are well captured in the fun availability.
Still considering a visit? Hurry up, you are covered.
P.S: You may wanna buy your tickets in advance so there won't be any wait ups, however you choose. Your choice!
You're welcome

Let me start with buy the season pass in Dec from Co Op so you can get it for cheap. Its totally worth it. Lots of ride for kids and adult there are a lot of food stalls, game stalls, there are some ride which are busy with line up at peak time. This is one of the place where I will recommend season pass. There is a theater and live performances. Ample washroom and parking. They have halloween and christmas theme which is really fun for kids. Over all highly recommended. Check out images and videos and Follow for more.

It's highly recommended for families with kids, a lot of games for sure. We came here at the end of August and it was raining. You will be surprised that many people are still coming even with bad weather. And there is no lineup for games and restaurants. Overall, great experience!

It was a good experience, although we could not go for all the rides as I had two toddlers . So we were only able to go for a couple of them and when they are taller and older we will have to go back . More fun activities for little children should be provided though

We love this place because there is so many rides that the younger ones can enjoy as well as plenty for the older ones. And I love the way the park is set up. With small rides close to each big ride so while you're waiting your not bored. It is a tradition for us to make the drive from Edmonton every summer.
We had a very nice drive through the foothills with a kaleidoscope of coulours at the start of fall.
We did a half day hike with the family, including our 3 year old granddaughter. Lots of stops to take in the beauty and a dip in the coooooool Elbow River to cool off. A fantastic place to spend time with family

Great spot for a fire and picnic close to Calgary. Pits and tables are pretty close to parking and washrooms, but they are down a bit of a short slope, so probably not ideal for those with limited mobility.

Great picnic spot. Day use only.
Each site has a fire pit with a grill and a picnic table and the sites are large enough to accommodate big family gatherings.
The site are very close to the river, some of them right alongside it. There is not a lot of space between sites but they are decently private and the rushing river blocks the sound. Some sites are a bit farther from the rest.
This is along the elbow river trail so you can make a nice day of exploring the trails

Boat launch with small picnic areas accessible via rocky pathways. Not wheelchair recommended. Garbage can and bathroom in parking lot only. Kananaskis park pass required.

Beautiful location along the Elbow. Lots of picnic sites and all have fire pits. Not as crowded as Bragg Creek Provincial Park or the main campgrounds. A nice hideaway.

I've been going to this place for years. The flood of 2013 has changed the landscape, however, I still love it there. There are picnic tables available, so pack a snack and spend the day out in nature. Lots of parking available.

This is a great picnic spot. Children can safely play in the water.
