Great little hike for Saturday morning. Biggest tree in the world, not the tallest. It is definitely BIG huge. He hike was capped off with, what seemed to be a younger bear just strolling by. Not caring about anyone. It's a paved trail, so really easy to navigate. If you do this, keep going on the Congress Trail. There are some great trees there too.

We took the shuttle from the Giant Forest museum to the tree. I highly recommend that! The bus dropped us off very close to the tree. A first look at the tree might seem underwhelming. Until you get closer and walk around the trunk and look up and take in the distance of the branches and the size. It is an amazing experience to be looking at the largest living thing on the planet.

A must-see area. Plenty of parking. Paved access for wheel chair and kids. It's a bit of a hike down/ up the mountain - make it the first exploration of the day. Bring snacks and water. May be a line to take a straight shot photo with a tree & the sign. Wild flowers are blooming beautifully. Bathrooms and water fountains are available at the trailhead.

I am honestly humbled after visiting these magnificent trees. I was not expecting the feelings they brought out in me. I first felt so insignificant and then the feeling of peace and contentment and wonder. I realized that all I am and my entire life will be just a minute speck on this glorious giant. I hope if ever you have a chance to visit here please do its life changing.

General Sherman tree is so impressive and amazingly beautiful. Trail to get there is easy; I would recommend going in the early hours of the morning so you can have the minimum people around you and that way you'll be able to take all in. There are lots of picture opportunities and other trails to hike also. Plenty of parking and restrooms at the head of the trail.

Beautiful place. In my opinion the general Sherman tree is not in some other league when it comes to beauty, size or interest. There were dozens of people waiting for a picture with it. I recommend walking a couple miles away (any of the longer trails you don’t have to walk the whole thing) and you will find trees just as large and beautiful without any people. Though out our 3 hours spent walking the trails we met no more than 10 people.

Drove 4 hours to see this tree And the giant forest in the sequoia National park It was so beautiful! Be sure to check the weather and be prepared. I sure was not.

So. The walk to the giant tree is paved. Would be difficult for someone that's in a wheelchair or having help to walk. The distance is roughly a little less than a mile. Overall this is a beautiful place. Great place to bring your kids. Let them run around and blow of all that energy. So the drive home will be quiet and relaxing.

Must visit! Amazing. There is bit steep hike to this spot from the parking but not difficult. On holidays parking could be tricky but I really appreciate the effort by the national parks, they organized the various parking spots well. There is always long queue to take the photo

Wow, just wow to these Great Giant Red Wood trees. A truly fascinating thing to see with your own eyes. I'll be visiting Sequoia for another visit in my life time for sure.

This was one of the best National Parks now that I have visited. Ride up the mountain a little crazy but so worth it when you get up there and see all the beautiful trees and wilderness. Entrance is free if you have a National Parks Pass.

Incredible. Magic. Unbelievable. Never thought that the Sequoia National Park could make us so happy only being there and contemplating those stunning trees. Amazing! If you can, to have a better experience with park itself, go over the week. Weekends are very packed and it might be difficult for parking, taking good pictures, find food and so on.

I've had the distinct pleasure of visiting in August and June, and both months do not disappoint for this mammoth tree! The sheer size and deep orange color of the bark, contrasting with the green fronds and teeny-tiny pine cones make this experience one that cannot be missed! Photos of the tree's main sign may take a bit to snag as there are plenty of folks wanting the same photo. Parking is pretty solid, but can fill up later in the day, so arrive earlier of possible. The trail down to the tree is full of a few hundred steps at high altitude, so don't rush back up the stairs if you need a break!

Awesome hikes, trails, and views. Lots of parking places on the weekdays. The trees themselves are really huge, and not a single camera can really show the real size. Come there and see for yourself👍We were here on the first day of April, so there was still a lot of snow on the trails and the mountains, but the roads are clear so no chains required.

Such a beautiful and magnificent tree to view in person. This tree is HUGE. February was a perfect time of year to visit. No large crowds and the temperature was perfect

General Sherman is a giant sequoia tree located at an elevation of 2,109 m (6,919 ft) above sea level in the  Sequoia National Park in California . It is estimated to be around 2,200 to 2,700 years old. General Sherman is the largest currently living tree, On September 16, 2021, the tree was threatened by the KNP Complex fire. Park and firefighting personnel wrapped the tree's base in a protective foil . In the end, tree was left unharmed.

It was in Sequoia National Park, so you need a park pass to get in. Nice paved walkway but steep walk with stairs. Handicapped parking with wheelchair accessible path closer to the trees if you can find it. Awe Inspiring.

Wonderful place. Gorgeous views. Amazing trees! I’m in love with that place😍 Atmosphere of peace and safe. It has been damaged by the wild fires several times but still remains the stronghold of the National Forests of the region.

It's an impressive tree! Not the oldest, tallest, or biggest. But it's very beautiful and a living thing. Healthy and protected. The hike from the usual parking lot is easy going in (downhill) but take your time on the way back up. The elevation is something you may not be used to. I highly recommend continuing up the congress trail to the heart of Giant Forest!

Unbelievable giant tree.🤩 I was so lucky because it was clear and warm. A snow chain is strongly required. General Sherman Tree parking lot is small and limited during winter. Need to figure out weather and alert before getting there.

Amazing! To see such an astounding view of something that is alive and has lived longer that we have and will continue to live past us is just astonishing! Visiting this park and seeing this tree is a bucket list item that I was able to cross off. Takes a long time to get up there but it’s worth it!

I went here an early spring and there were no lines. The parking is limited but there are lots down the road from the location. The tree itself is an amazing experience to view as it is one of if not the oldest living thing on the planet.

My first visit to the Sequoia national Park... I was amazed how really big the trees are... With no snow it's beautiful.. I could only imagine when there's snow.... They have a shuttle also that takes you to different sections of the park.. highly recommend coming early....

We visited Sequoia National Park as part of a wider road trip. They were mandating snow chains be carried that day... Our rental didn't come with them and the conditions didn't require our vehicle type to actually put them on unless conditions worsened significantly but we still had to get some. There are shops close to the gateway that sell them to you... If you return them in good condition, they give you a small amount back, so if you visit during winter and don't have chains, expect the additional expense. I must say, the roads were rated at R1 (R0 being the best and R3 being the worst) and vehicles without snow tyres were being made to put the chains on, about 15 miles beyond the gateway. I cannot see why because the roads we used to travel the 7000 ft elevation were about as clear as they can get... I guess caution has to win out in the mountains. The drive from the gateway is around 1 hour. The road up to Sherman is incredibly windy, so expect some slow and and very tight bends. Experienced drivers recommended. You will get some amazing views and there are plenty of places to stop and get out of your vehicle for better vistas and photos. Driving through Giants Forest is breathtaking. Once there, parking can be tricky but it is a short and easy walk from the Sherman car park. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING surroundings, made even more beautiful by the snow. Incredibly peaceful, even with other visitors there. General Sherman is very impressive.

We really enjoyed our stop here! The size has to be seen to be believed! It smells so beautiful here and the paths are well cared for. It's a little steep getting down there if you have mobility issues but they keep the paths well tended and there are seats you can stop at. The short part of the Congress Trail loop is very pretty as well and has a pretty waterfall along the way. If you're in the area see this one as well as the General Grant tree.

Breathtaking!! Beautiful views, fresh air & gigantic trees, we were in awe. If you ever get the chance to visit, do it!

We had a great time for couple hours that we have been there. it is first come first serve policy. Arrive early for a camping spot.

Amazing, Wonderful, It worth the visit make sure to arrive early to enjoy the day and take worm clothes with you even in summer don't live your food alone otherwise bear will eat them, and make sure to climb to Moro Rock best view ever. at the entrance there's traffic Because people have to get tickets and map for the forest and there's a little bit of wait at the bus stop over all its very good.

Amazing views, truly breathtaking!! I highly recommend starting very early, we went up around 7am and passed a few people as we headed up. Once we made it to the top, we were the only ones up there for 30+ minutes, it was incredible. The stairs aren't that terrible, I have asthma and had a hurt leg while hiking up, just go slow and take your time, it is 1000% worth it!

Shuttle #2 takes us to this place Mono rock, Tunnel Log and Cresent Meadow from Giant Forest Museum . This large granite dome is a spectacular geologic feature that can be enjoyed from above or below. Around 350 steps to the top of Moro Rock. Moro Rock is very close to the parking lot. It is safe to climb because handrails along the way .

Amazing trail to hike up for the stunning views of the sequoia NP valley and overlook of great western divide! The hike might get slightly difficult climbing up but it’s not too bad and is totally worth it! You can do this. Parking available on first come first serve basis. You can also park beside the road in safe space. Carry water and hiking shoes as it’s steps built within the rocks. Definitely recommend it!

This is a quick but very steep hike. if you are looking for a hike that is low investment but high payoff this one is perfect. It is a great spot to watch the sunrise or sunset. I don’t recommend it though f you are afraid of heights. It is safe but there are times you are walking a steep path close to an edge with a railing and it can often be very crowded with people. Thank being said this hike is a gem. It has almost instant satisfaction. The payoff is definitely worth the climb!

Fantastic views. Good work out. Makes you feel on top of the world. A lot of people who don't know how to share the trail. Small parking lot but worth it.

Stunning views! The 360 view at the top is breathtaking, and access to it is very straightforward, so it should be on the bucket list of every nature lover and outdoor enthusiast. Just absolutely brilliant. My English isn't good enough to put into words what I felt there, but anyone visiting Sequoia national park MUST visit this.

One of the highest point in Sequoia, not a difficult climb but lots of stairs! Great place to come for sunrise or sunset.

This is an amazing experience! Turn at the museum and take narrow road up to the rock. Be prepared to climb over 300 stairs. But view is impressive and well worth the climb. My kids ages 11 and 15 absolutely loved the climb and view. Don't miss this part of Sequoia National Park. Farther down this same road is and called Sequoia that you can drive through/under. FYI The sequoia where you could once park your car on top is now out of service.

Enjoyed the hike. Make sure you keep an eye on weather and it’s relatively safe to reach the top of the dome. The views at the top are worth the hike and it’s more beautiful during the sunset time!

This is something you should put on your list, the view from the top is breathtaking. I got there first thing in the morning trying to beat the crowds and I succeeded as I encounter some people but it was manageable. Keep in mind parking is limited unless you are planning to hike from the Giant Forest museum. It's 350 steps to get to the top and it's steep and narrow. Some places only one person can pass through at a time. At the top you can get the most amazing pictures and videos but it still wouldn't do it justice. Not recommended for people who are afraid of heights. There are bathrooms at the head of the trail. Watch your step going up and down. Enjoy!

Visited here on February and pretty much snowy up there upon hiking to the rock! I didn’t make it to the top because I wasn’t wearing the right shoes to survive the snowy steps. I definitely will come back here during spring time.

Amazing place. Must visit on the trip to Sequoia National park. Plan to come after 2/3 pm so that you can enjoy the evening sunset timing by the time we reach the top. Almost 6 to 7 stories of stairs to reach to the top. Parking is limited hence visiting on weekdays will allow you to drive all the way to the base of the hike. Or else you need to park at different places and get on a free park shuttle too reach here. Weekends are crowded and long queues for the shuttle bus. Parking is quite an issue around different points in this NP. So make sure to avoid holidays and weekends off the goal is to enjoy the serene natural beauty.

Excellent hike. The steepness and high elevation winded us as this was our first hike at elevation. Very limited parking.

As you drive up the hills and mountains entering the Sequoia and King's Canyon National Parks, you will be struck by the awe inspiring Moro Rock looming over all. We couldn't imagine reaching the base much less climbing to the top. But yes, keep driving and you will reach the base parking area. The Park Service carved steps and, partially, put in hand rails. While not for the infirm or those with height phobias or balance problems, the steps up are doable by most people. We ascended at 6 pm, well past peak hours (11am to 4 pm?) and so the path was not overcrowded. And our fellow rock adventurers were polite, helpful, and even engaging (I cannot vouch for conditions at peak hours). I expected this to be a nice-to-do addition to our park trip but it turned out to be my personal highlight.

Limited parking so plan yourself. From parking lot, it’s 350 steps easy walk to the top. Amazing view for sunrise and sunset. Bring a jacket.

Cons: ⛰️ Is moderately challenging and involves climbing a steep staircase with 300 feet of elevation gain. 🚫 Is not suitable for dogs, people with fear of heights, or winter conditions. 🌧️ Can be crowded and narrow at times. ⚡ Can be prone to lightning strikes, and hikers are advised to get off the rock quickly but safely if there is any evidence of an approaching storm.

Wow! This was definitely an amazing point on the trip to Sequoia National Park! You see the rock sticking up as you approach from the south visitors center and as you approach it's even more amazing. You get a panoramic view of the valley (make sure there's no chance of lightning if you go) and it's worth the steps. Very few visitors when we were there Monday morning.

Walked here from the visitor centre. Absolutely beautiful walk through the snow, and then climbed up the rock to stand on our own for about an hour looking at breathtaking views. I'm guessing that in busy times this attraction would be very busy, so we were immensely privileged to have it to ourselves.

Wow, what an experience!! Be prepared, because it’s 350 steps up to the top! Beautiful views all around and of the sierras. Definitely not for the faint of heart or fear of heights. Some sections only have knee high rocks instead of railings as a barrier. A couple rock ledges to walk under stooping low, some tight winding steps in sections and some narrow paths.

In Sequoia National Park, this is a must-do trail. There is limited parking, so plan accordingly. It's a 350-step moderate hike from the parking lot to the top. Beautiful scenery and view from the top is spectacular. Just be very cautious and focused on your steps.

Moro Rock Trail in Sequoia National Park is a popular short but steep hike that leads to the top of Moro Rock, a large granite dome with sweeping views of the High Sierra and the valleys below. The trail itself is a quarter-mile (0.4 km) one-way and is essentially a stairway that ascends the rock with over 350 steps. As you climb the trail, handrails and carved steps guide you up the dome. The path can be quite narrow and steep in places, but the panoramic views at every turn make the climb thrilling. The trail culminates at the summit of Moro Rock, approximately 6,725 feet (2,050 meters) above sea level, offering visitors a spectacular vista. One of the best place I visited on the planet. Really it's a must visit place in USA. The views are special, attractive, breath taking, gorgeous, amazing... Will be a trip of life time. The volume, quality, beauty of the nature is wordless here. The roads are safe, lots of stop or turn out options on the road. So can easily clock photos on this route. There are lots of camping ground options too.

Not as crowded as other nearby parks. Still some limited road access due to the winter washout damage. Well maintained and easy to get around. Many beautiful trails and beautiful views. The proximity to multiple parks makes the America The Beautiful passes well worth it.

We like Kings Canyon is beautiful and easy access. There are many areas closed due to winter storm. We like the Hume lake; there are many activities over there but, it’s a little bit difficult finding a parking space near the Sandy Cove so we park near the camp ground area by the lake.

My wife and I decided to visit a handful of national parks in January and February this year. We were expecting to run into snow and we did in Kings Canyon national Park. Other than not being able to access some high elevations due to road closures and the need for snow chains, we did see some pretty cool stuff and had a great time. Photos of general grants tree don’t do it any justice at all. Great place to visit even in the winter but again bring snow chains if you can.

Absolutely stunning. Especially with the snow in the winter. Definitely bring GOOD snow chains if you go around this time of year but it's a whole different experience than the spring or summer. Parts of the park are still closed because of the fire and weather but you can still see Grant's Grove which is enough on its own along with the scenic drive. The Sequoias are amazing to look at and getting to walk through them is a really impressive experience.

Great National Park! This is the only way to see the giant Sequoia trees since the road is blocked on the south entrance. The trees are spectacular, there’s even a shuttle system to see General Sherman. Do not miss this park!

We like Kings Canyon is beautiful and easy access. There are many areas closed due to winter storm. We like the Hume lake; there are many activities over there but, it’s a little bit difficult finding a parking space near the Sandy Cove so we park near the camp ground area by the lake.

This is a great place to visit, the place is really clean and everyone seems really nice. There is a few restrictions about having your pet. Some trails you cannot take your dog on. And I highly recommend doing some research about getting a campsite, because they have no phone service at all, and no internet. What they do have it's extremely slow. So definitely plan ahead before going here.

My visit to Kings Canyon National Park in the fall of 2021 left an indelible impression of natural grandeur. The towering giants of the forest, adorned in hues of redwood and fall foliage, created a mesmerizing spectacle. The sheer scale of the trees, including the iconic sequoias, instilled a sense of awe and reverence for the beauty of the natural world. The fall colors added a vibrant touch to the landscape, enhancing the already breathtaking scenery. The tranquility of the park, coupled with the majestic presence of these ancient trees, made for a truly immersive and unforgettable experience, highlighting the unique allure of Kings Canyon National Park during the autumn season.

It was so peaceful. Well worth the drive and short stops along the way. Loved the overlooks! There are many easy and difficult hiking trails with beautiful sites. I truly enjoyed the fresh and clean air.

We had a great day exploring Kings Canyon! The scenery is beautiful but the drive can be quite challenging. Luckily most people drive slowly and carefully. There are signs showing the major sights and Vista points, so it's easy to find things. It's a great place to discover

I love coming here when you have a big group or kids compare to going to Yosemite! There is much more you can do here if you're not much into hiking but going to lakes or seeing a beautiful scenery.

Really beautiful and a great camping experience. We stayed at the Sunset Campground, close to the Visitor Center. The restaurant at the visitor center is a great option to see around the park and quickly grab food. Check out the Hume lake area, General Grant Tree, Gremlin cabin, Michigan Tree and the Panoramic Point during sunset for great views of the park. Sequoia NP is a short drive from Kings Canyon NP and is a great option to check out the next day on a camping trip 🏕️

If I could give it ten stars I would. This is a must see park. The Giant Sequoias are incredible. The General Grant tree is the main attraction, but so many others are equally as stunning. Walking through the canyon feels magical with the light filtering through enormous trees that are 1,500 plus years old.

We went on Nov 29, 2023 from Los Angeles, about 4 hour drive with on/off traffic. We took our dog, although the NPS website has a few dog friendly trails, it's hard to locate them. However we were told it's okay to walk our dog on the paved area and camping area which our dog really enjoyed. It's not our first time here, and we e joy coming to sequoia and kings canyon. A lot of things and places are closed during this season due to low traffic and the weather, but the nature is definitely beautiful and this place is a gem. I recommend this place to anyone that hasn't been here, and it's worth buying the annual pass/national park pass. Restrooms were extremely clean, friendly park rangers, nice fall colors and plenty of water of stream. Don't forget to fuel up before coming up, and always good to bring extra snacks/food, not many options up there. It's even good to bring a sandwich or two from subway/mcdonalds near by, and always carry extra water.

One of the most underrated National parks, it's like a combination between Sequoia and Yosemite yet it never has any crowds. Kings Canyon is certainly a must see if you're in the Sierras.

Lovely park - even though the actual Kings Canyon was closed due to a road closure (October, 2023). Panoramic Point was especially lovely at sunset. Grant Tree was a nice easy walk but the adjacent trails were just as lovely and with no crowds.

Lovely national park. I can certainly place this in the top 10 national parks (maybe not in top 5). The sequoia trees are a thing of beauty and awe here. I was lucky to see some deer crossing by the road. The Grant tree is definitely the highlight. That will certainly get anyone mesmerized.

Experienced snowfall. The drive to the park was very scenic. Amazing views, enjoyable even during snowfall.

Sequoia Trees are one of the most beautiful trees on this planet… We decided to get away from the city for a few days and visit King Canyon. Was a amazing family trip weather was just perfect. Beautiful scenery all around!

Beautiful park, visited the last week of April...still some snow and roads closed. If you wanna hike, make sure to call regarding trails, may need cramp ons and snow chains for vehicles!

I love our nation's national parks. Every American should have the right to see and visit this country's national parks as taxpayers. Happy to see my taxes go to supporting this type of endeavor, instead of sending money to other countries to spend on their arsenals. King's Canyon is close to Fresno, I thought it was easily accessible. Unfortunately the road into the canyon itself was closed, though some of it is viewable from the Sequoia side of the park. I visited the Sequoia containing parts of the King's though and thought the General Grant tree was cool. Hiked around the area for about 4 hours. Unfortunately this part of the Sierras collects a lot of pollution from elsewhere in Commiefornia but I still enjoyed it.

You have to see this stuff in person! You may see some folks in the distance on some of my pictures to help you understand just how large these trees are. And I don't know about anyone else but there's a magical feeling I get when walking around these giants. I can't explain it...but it's definitely worth the trip. Lots of other stuff to see in the Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Parks as well so drive/hike around. I had no cell coverage so I definitely recommend paying attention to the roads you're on and keep the park map handy. There is a fee to enter the National Parks. I think it's like $30 for a 7 day pass or $80 for an annual pass good for all National Parks. I got the Annual Pass and live close by so I'm definitely going back! 👍😎👍

Amazing. There's no words or photos to describe this, you just have to experience it. I recommend doing one of these other loops as well. The general grant tree loop is popular but the other loops are nice and less crowded.

The 267-foot tall and 29-foot wide General Grant Tree is the second-largest tree in the world. It is also known as the Nation's Christmas Tree and the country's only living national shrine. It is a 3000-year-old wonder. There is a 0.3-mile paved loop trail that leads to the General Grant Tree, the fallen monarch, and many other named trees and features. This trail is one of the most visited tourist attractions. There are large parking lots at the trailhead but it still gets filled quickly. We went the last year in May and we were amazed to see the giants standing tall trying to reach the sky. Don’t miss this gem while visiting the National Park.

This is a major highlights of any visit to Kings Canyon National Park. There are many trails in the area and a short trail from the parking lot to the General Grant tree. The size and scale of the tree is awe-inspiring. There was a lot of snow pack when we visited in mid-March. The great thing about visiting at this time is that there are almost no crowds and you can access the tree and the trails very easily.

Amazing and Magnonimous!! We look so tiny in front of these huge and majestic Sequoia trees.. a peaceful place to meditate and be with nature. Snow adds charm to this place.. just must visit.

Beautiful Grove of Sequoia and they are massive. It's difficult to comprehend until you see them in person. Parking at bottom of hill. Trail is smooth and easy. A sight to see.

I honestly am unable to express the feelings being amongst these giants brought to me. You feel so insignificant looking up and then reading how long these majestic trees have lived. One alone is over 1700 years old. I am only able to say for myself and my wife it was truly spiritual. Please if you ever have the chance come and become lost in the in the tranquility of these breathtaking giants.

I didn't expect this to be as cool as it was, but we really loved seeing this! The paths are easy and fun and there's a fallen hollow tree you can walk through as well. You have to be there in person to really understand the size of the trees. We went on a Monday afternoon and it wasn't very crowded either, a big plus.

What amazing Grove of Giants. Need go walk more areound the area. Sad to see that in other places they have cut then down and all you see are burnt stumps. We need to keep protecting. It's such an awe to be among such huge beautiful old friends.

It was so magical to walk through these giants. The trees are so majestic . Parking lot is very small , its little challenging to find a spot. Restrooms were well kept. General grant is the major attaraction.Our group had a great time exploring.

Park with Sequoias. I've known, that these tree are huge, but haven't thought, that too much! This place is quite on working days (visited in September). Area isn't big. Trees are amazing! This area is a part of Kings Canyon National Park, is near entrance to there.

We visited on Thursday morning in mid July. Ample parking. From the lot to the tree takes like 10 minute leisurely walk. Easy hike on a paved road. Mostly covered with shades. A lovely and majestic place.

This was the first spot we stopped at while in the area. It was first time seeing the Sequoias out of the car. They are an incredible sight! This is a great first spot to stop at as you don't need to do a lot of walking. You can also walk through a hollowed out Sequoia, which is really cool!

We only spent two days in Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks in our time in California. It definitely was not enough time and if you get the opportunity I would highly recommend at least three days to take it all in. It truly is a beautiful and magical place! These pictures are from the General Grant area and my favorite place of our time in the parks. If we had spent more time perhaps I would have liked a different spot better. I really like this spot because it had the most numerous amount of Sequoias of where we stopped. It also had an opening from the trail as if to invite you into the wilderness.....it was open and there were no sign to say not to enter so we went up! It made me want to go back and spend a full day hiking in the wilderness of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It was such an enchanting piece of nature! I can't recommend a trip here enough!

Grant Grove area and the General Grant Tree are amazing! You have to travel about an hour and a 1/2 if you came in from Woodlake, CA, but it is well worth it. We traveled here from Florida with a gentleman who has never been to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park and he was amazed. This was last year when the snow fall was down during April! We had to rent snow shoes, but we had an amazing time. We were able to still get the great experience of snow and dirt as we hiked for 2 days on different trails and two different elevation levels. A lot of the original paths were closed, but that is where the snow shoes came in. We were able to trek towards Big Stump, General Sherman and more.... The rivers were loaded with ice and running very fast. I go back almost every time I visit the Valley as I used to live 15 miles from the entrance. Yes it can be tough to drive up and find parking when it is busy, yes there is a lot tourist and yes it can be frustrating. Remember this is a part of the world you might never see again, so enjoy it, clean up after yourself and enjoy time with your friends and family.

This is a great place to start exploring Kings Canyon. Easy in and out if not too busy with wide, groomed paths winding up gradually up hill that most will have little trouble navigating. Statuesque giant sequoias clustered in a giant bowl leaving you feeling rather small by comparison and the resonant power of nature. Spiritual and physically emotional. Might be less so during the busy spring /summer season.

This is a must-see if you are in the area! We visited mid-March, and it was 34 degrees. About 20 degrees colder than in the valley, but well worth it!! Be prepared to walk and the change in climate if you visit in the winter. This place is majestic!!

Wow the size of the trees were breath taking. Busy but not too crowded for October. Sadly weather was misty so couldn't see some of the attractions. Still enjoyed our visit. Bought a year's membership so this trip was free.

The grove is an amazing place in Kings Canyon National Park. It is well worth the trip to hike around this area. The parking is convenient and very close. The trails are pretty easy and well marked.

This was so awesome, my wife said it was better than Disneyland. Buy your $16 tickets at Lodgepole visitors center and give yourself at least an hour to get there. You'll want to be early. Bring a flashligh and a UV flashlight does wonders on the formations. The 1\2 mile hike from the parking lot is steep but not too bad. About 15 minutes if you go slow. The tour lasts about 45 minutes and was informative. If you carry a pack down you have to leave it just inside the cave. It is safe there. The tour is a 1/2 mile inside the cave but not strenuous. It is a cool 50°F inside the cave which was pleasing since it was in the 90's outside the day we went. Pictures don't do it justice. The hike back up took us 20 minutes but we took our time and rested often to enjoy the falls and beautiful scenery. (Also to catch our breath it is tough but not as bad as it looks) definitely will be returning again.

Let me be perfectly clear, if you plan to go here- plan early and purchase your tickets before you leave your house. You CANNOT by tickets at the cave, nor can you purchase tickets at Sequoia National Park. Well worth the drive and the hike to the entrance. Word of advice, follow the rules or pay the price!

The cave isn’t very big. It is well worth to take a visit. The staffs are nice. We have to walk down the mountain to the cave. We can hear and see waterfall.

Tickets must be purchased at visitor centers. You can gets to the wait list if you don't have tickets. 45 minutes guided tour inside cave. Moderately steep hike coming back.

The cave is 3 stars OK but the enthusiasm of the guides and the scenic and exciting drive add a star. There's a fun waterfall just before the cave and others on the narrow back road.

Love this place!!! I recommend going there if you are going to Sequoia. Make sure to book at least 3 weeks in advance. When you go there you might think you are going to the wrong location but, you will reach a parking lot. Make sure you have hiking shoes since you will slip with regular tennis. Make sure to wear big spray and don't leave any food in the car.

Cute little museum. Some quick diagrams and facts about the trees inside. A couple interactive things to hold kids interests. Often looks closed so try the door. Entrance is right in front of the Sentinel tree. Small store inside for trinkets and such. Rangers available to guide you and answer any questions. Do the quick stop in and check things out before you head out for your hike.

SEKI national parks are a must visit, if you are able. The museum has exhibits and rangers to help explain the geology, biology, and history of the park.

Beautiful place with snow and rain that made the driving a little bit hard, but everything look great, take your umbrella and warm clothes to enjoy the outside.

The color and size of the trees were impressive. There are many fairly easy trails to explore. It was late fall on the weekday at the time of my visit, and the parking lots were full.

One of our main reasons to come to California was to see the giant Sequoia's. They were beyond expectations. We stopped here doing the tourist routine. I was surprised they not only were knowledgeable but had a really nice variety of souvenirs. The inside also has some wonderful large pics of parts of the park over the years and some interesting displays to look at. It's well worth stopping at. We picked up a few things.

The Museum, though small, is nice. There's good information there about the Sequoia trees, video you can watch and some interactive exhibits. There's also a gift shop.

This museum is more like an information center / Visitor center with a store. Sentinel Tree is located here. There are trails going to Moro rock , tunnel log. During the winter months the roads are closed to Moro rock and the only way to access them is to drive up to this spot and take the trail.

Amazing giants! The bus will take you up and back for free every 20min. Its a quick 5 min ride up to the giants. Restrooms are available. Trails to the giants are everywhere and fairly easy

The parc is amazing The museum is nice to visit, especially with kids, not big but interactive

Sadly by the time I came in the place was closed. But they definitely had some nice flora around the museum. The most incredible one is a Sequoia tree which is around 2200 years old called Sentinel. I am sure museum would be interesting too.

Wow! It's amazing that something so big comes from such a small pine cone. We had a great time amongst these giants. There are lots of trails for all kinds of skill levels. I would recommend going early. The park is usually open all day, put parking can be limited. Be form warned the roads winding.

I highly recommend Sequoia park! Enjoy true California nature. You will love the hikes around those big ancient trees. The Moro rock will give you great views of the park. A must to do in CA.

No entrance fee for this small museum! Parking is limited so you need to walk 5 minutes. It has a small gift shop and descriptions of Sequoias that puts its size into perspective. Spoilers: they’re huge!

I loved it here quiet and so beautiful!!! The staff was nice very educational for the children they enjoyed seeing the nature as we walked threw good for camping. I understand the food thing because most actually bring their camper and stay over night with the 7 day pass. Over all this place is a must see❤

Do the big trees trail next to the museum. Amazing people working at the museum (twice experienced) and reception there to answer any questions. Really good people!👍 to go into the park, buy the ticket online so you don’t have to wait at the gate.

Must see to believe pictures do not do it Justice

You'll pay $35 to enter the park per vehicle but if you have an annual pass ($80) you'll be able to enter and exit without paying the fees. The roads were plowed from the north park entrance down to Grant Grove as of Feb. 2022. The trees themselves are absolutely stunning, especially in contrast with the snow. There were very few people in the grove.

This grove is an awe-inspiring, wonderful place. There is a pleasant hiking trail that takes you past some dramatically impressive Giant Sequoia, including the General Grant Tree itself. A great place to go hiking and there are nice visitors center facilities, including a restaurant and store nearby if you need to stock up on supplies. Well worth the long windy drive to reach Kings Canyon National Park and this remarkable grove.

General grants Grove was so much fun! The trees were beautiful. They are so big and impressive. I wish I could just live there. You truly feel like you are in the presence of greatness being around these trees! I felt true serenity here!

Stopped here on our way to Yosemite to check out the Sequoias as Sequoia NP was closed due to weather conditions. Very worth the stop. Easy access and walkway to checkout these beautiful giants. Restroom access near short looped walking trail.

The Grant Grove in an area of high elevation where sequoia trees can thrive in the Kings Canyon National Park. Interestingly, this used to be a separate General Grant National Park created in 1890 but was folded into Kings Canyon NP when it was formally created in 1940. Within the Grove, visitors will find day hikes including the General Grant Trail, a .5 mile loop trail which takes in the General Grant Tree, the 2nd largest in the world by volume only surpassed by the General Sherman Tree further south in the Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park. On the trail, you'll see numerous other giant sequoias as well as felled giants like the Fallen Monarch. You will also see attractions such as the historic Gamlin Cabin along this trail. The Grant Grove also includes the sobering Big Stump trail, allowing visitors opportunity to see a Sequoia graveyard of sorts, a location which was logged during the late 19th century, resulting in a forest and landscape dotted with giant sequoia trunks. Very sad when you see the size of some of the big stumps in this area. There is also the Grant Grove Village which includes the Kings Canyon Visitor Centre, Gift Shop, Restaurant, Market, U.S. Post Office as well as accommodations for those interested in staying in this area of the park. We very much enjoyed a couple days hiking in this area of Kings Canyon National Park. During April, there was still snow on the ground in many of the areas around the Grant Grove, that was nice to see.

These natural wonders are a must see! No photos can ever represent the scale and beauty of these legends!!

Quick drive from Sequoia National Park to see world's second largest tree. There are many trails, hundreds of species of plants and giant sequoias. Gift shop near the visitor center is pretty cool to collect souvenirs. Totally recommend visiting if you are driving through. Trail to the general grant tree is about half a mile round trip.

Only did this trail partially but what I got to see I loved...no crowds at all. This trail is close to the General Sherman tree and as must people just go yo see that they miss on an amazing trail with beautiful majestic trees.

I wasn't expecting to like this trail as much as I did. A quiet transition from the General Sherman area where this trail starts, there's a short version and a longer one. Pay attention to the signs and your map so you don't go farther or more lost than you wanted to. There's a fork on the longer route at some point as well. This trail connects to a lot of the other trees, like the Senate and what not, as well as longer trails that get you back to the Giant Forest Museum. Again, make sure to pay attention to signs, your map, and trail markers nailed onto trees. I got to see a marmot on this trail!

It was definitely one of the best parts of my trip to Sequoia NP. It's a 2.6 mile loop trail which starts within the General Sherman tree trail and felt it was one of the best ways to experience the giant sequoias so close by. Along the trail, you'll see McKinley, The President, the House group, the Senate and countless other giants towering over you. The trail was neither too long nor too short and felt like a stroll in the park with giant trees. I definitely recommend doing this trail if you want less crowds, get mesmerized by the sheer size of these giants and have already completed the General Sherman trail.

One of the best "bang for your buck" trails in the park! Loads of famous and towering Sequoias on a well-paved trail with decent marking! It does get quite crowded around General Sherman, and the ascent back to the parking area is nothing to laugh at, but it is an unforgettable experience!

This trail is doable for wheelchair users. We went on the smaller loop which was paved the whole way. There were some steep sections where a friend helped push on the uphill and brake on the downhill. We accessed the trail from the General Sherman parking area for disabled pass holders.

We hiked this trail and enjoyed a loooot. It’s a MUST if you are at the park. Lots of nice views and giant sequoias. Also we spotted some deers. Plenty of fun and lot of walking 😜

Lovely paved walkway which takes you through a giant sequioa grove with lots of impressive trees. It's much less crowded than other trails like the general sherman trail. Make sure to carry some water because temperatures can become hot during the summer.

We visited in 7/11/21 around 10am and the park was super hot at ~100 degrees during the day. For reference in my party is just my husband and I, we are from Florida. He is ~200 lbs, 6ft tall, not active, no health issues. I am ~114lbs, 4’11 ft tall, moderately active, no health issues. I also carried a backpack weighing ~5lbs and the walk was really challenging for me. I think it was the heat and altitude that was wearing me out. If you are coming from Salinas the parking lot you will see to the right is just for disabled parking. The public parking lot is half a mile down to the right side which will take you to the General Sherman and Congress Trails. This was definitely worth the hike in the heat.

The Congress Trail is one of the connecting paths through the Giant Forest that starts near the General Sherman Tree in Sequoia National Park. The trail is just under 3 miles in length and mostly paved through mostly barren forest with a few streams and lots of sequoia trees to see. We visited in April 2019 while the trail was mostly under snow, making it challenging at times to remain on the trail. Stick to the beaten paths made by previous hikers, from time to time you see asphalt so you know you are on the right path. During the hike, you pass what seems like hundreds of giant sequoias and plenty of lovely scenery. Some famous trees are seen along the trail including the McKinley, General Lee, President as well as the clusters of sequoias like The House and Senate groups. In the end, we really enjoyed the Congress Trail and seeing the sequoias in the area. Would happily repeat this hike the next time we're in the national park.

We went on this trail the day after Labor Day. This is a nice trail and not crowded. We saw just a handful of people. Several of the trees had labels like the Senate, House, the President, etc.

The Congress Trail is a lesser attended trail near Sherman Tree and a nice place to get away from the crowds. I was there in Nov. and passed only one other person. Taking the longer trail can take 2 hours. This area is being actively managed to get the Sequoia to reproduce (they need fire to reproduce).

Tunnel Log in Sequoia National Park is a famous fallen sequoia tree that has been carved out to allow cars to drive through it. This tree fell across the Crescent Meadow Road in late 1937 due to natural causes. Rather than simply remove the obstruction, park officials decided to carve a 17-foot wide by 8-foot high tunnel through the trunk, making it a popular tourist attraction. The tree itself was quite ancient, with an estimated age of over 2,000 years when it fell, and it was 275 feet tall with a base diameter of 21 feet. Visitors to the park can drive through Tunnel Log, and it remains a memorable spot for photographs and a vivid example of the immense size of the giant sequoias. The attraction embodies the grandeur and novelty of the giant trees found in the park and is a reminder of the natural cycles within these old-growth forests.

We visited in 7/11/21 and it was super hot at ~100 degrees during the day. So glad we visited later in the day as it got much cooler ~70 degrees. I highly suggest you visit after 7pm so you can drive up instead of taking the shuttle. If you do need to take the shuttle, you can take it at the Giant Tree Museum where you can also park your car. During our visit the shuttle was running until 7pm. Please check nps.gov for park shuttle hours. This is very close to Moro Rock so we visited that first then came here.

Wonderful spot for a photo opportunity but a fantastic little slice of amazement. The log itself has carvings from tourists all over it. If you get there early enough there isn't a wait to drive through the log and you can even climb on top of it. Worth the stop!

The journey to reach, hike, and witness Gen Sherman was truly awe-inspiring. However, visiting in July meant facing scorching temperatures, with it reaching 108 degrees at the beginning. Fortunately, as we made our way to Gen. Sherman, the temperature dropped by 10-15 degrees. There were numerous people waiting in line to capture photos with the tree. During our adventure, we were fortunate to encounter a mother bear and her cub. Overall, it was an incredible experience. We also explored Tunnel Rock, Moro Rock, Gen. Sherman, and Fallen Tree (accessible only by hiking/walking now). The cost for a private vehicle was $35.

Its such a beautiful place to come and visit. So many hikes and things to see. I got lucky and saw a black bear and some deer. The trees just wow I can't explain the feeling. The stamp booth closes at 5pm no exceptions. They are very strict on time. The bus ride stop at 6pm and the bus can be packed and leaving you to walk back. It's a 50/50 when going late to closing hr 😅 we got lucky and were let in a packed bus. But they do give you multiple warning before getting on and letting you know you will walk back.

I accidently walked through here, lol, but there was a line of cars driving through extremely slowly, one at a time, taking photos. There were some teenage boys who climbed on top of the log and were holding up the line, so a woman in a car got mad and started screaming, cussing, and flipping them off. It was wild. So IF YOU ARE IN A HURRY TO GET THROUGH HERE QUICKLY, DO NOT COME. IT WILL TAKE 30 MINUTES, PROBABLY MORE, TO GET THROUGH THIS LINE.

Lovely tunnel experience going through with your car. You really can't phantom how gigantic the tree is until you get up close and personal. There were quite a number of vehicles waiting to go through. You have to share the wait time with pedestrians on the ground trying to take a picture in front of the tunnel and also those who decides to climb on top of the tree. I recommend going closer to dusk when most people have returned to their campsite or hotel.

This a quick stop but I would say it's worth it. 1- you'll learn about it's history 2- great spot for pictures and video 3- you get to drive through it Tips Go at first thing in the morning to avoid crowds

Magic place with wonderful sights. The tree itself is huge. You will feel yourself a small creature comparing to the huge trees out there. Highly recommend to visit

Beautiful tourist attraction. It's a must visit if you are visiting Sequoia National Park. We missed our shuttle and had this place to ourselves for a good 20 minutes before the next shuttle showed up with another group of tourists. Needless to say, take all the time you need to breathe and take it all in. Absolutely love Mother Nature.

Crazy cool log with a tunnel cut through it. We climbed up it for photos and went later in the day so the line wasn’t really big and could spend time there. We really enjoyed this part of the park and appreciated the calm at the end of the day. These trees make you appreciate the planet and Earth so much more.

The Drive up, hike and Gen Sherman was awesome. July is very hot. 108 degrees at the start but got 10-15 degrees cooler once we were at Gen. Sherman. Lots of people in line to take pics with the tree. We saw a momma bear and cub. Overall awesome experience. We did Tunnel Rock, Moro Rock, Gen. Sherman and Fallen Tree (you can only hike/walk there now). $35 for private vehicle.

Perfect spot for family picnic. Very limited parking. Easy access to the lake.

I have gone at least 3 times to Hume in the past with a church. But ever since I left religion in 2020. . .I remember this place. It was great and amazing. But during my last year there me and guys had a talk/announcement chapel just the guys with all the men in Ponderosa camp about trouble makers guys doing horrible stuff. So that's bad. My little brother went this year. Just returned yesterday. He said people from the other church they were parried with partners for rec were cheating the councilors and encouraging others students to cheat in the games? Makes me remember why I semi hate Christianity and all the fakers. Anyway, I don't want to get side tracked. Going to leave the review 5 stars because this is great place about the Christian god and Christianity but still shocking that people cheat at a christian summer camp, like come on?! Really?

Loved this lake. Has a market and gas station. This place was awesome We camped up a ways by Landslide but this lake was beautiful and big so much things to do, kayak small boat rentals standup paddleboard, etc Fun swimming, I jumped from a rock. Super fun highly recommend for families and anyone.

Beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. There are several small Forest Service day use areas around the perimeter as well as a Christian camp. It was easy to put in our paddleboards at the shoreline and explore.

This place is one of the best places in California you just pay $39 dollars and you are able to visit different places. I love the river and the bridge actually I used this place for my engagement pictures 👌🏻👌🏻

Our family comes up to Hume Lake quite regularly because we have a cabin. One of the highlights of our time is the two mile walk around the lake on national forest service land. These photos are from the back of the dam.

Very wonderful place to visit, friendly, dog and propane grill friendly. Family oriented area and deep and shallow swimming areas.

Best place to visit for a one day family outing. Stunning views with amazing waterfall and ice cold water. Beautiful place to get relaxation after a hectic week.

Since Highway 180 is closed, there are fewer places to visit in King Canyon National Park. Hume Lake is one of the best places to visit, camping and spending quality time with family. Beautiful scenery.A lovely lake surrounded by mountains.Pets are allowed here. Parking is limited.

I had a great time camping at Hume Lake, California. We went camping during the week and had almost the entire place to ourselves. The peace and quiet was amazing and it was a relaxing time for all of us. PRO-TIP: Come Tuesday through Thursday and avoid the crowd, you won’t regret it.

When we visited Kings Canyon most of the big locations I has planned for my trip were closed. We venture here and spend like 1hour admiring the beauty of the lake, people watching and of course taking some pictures. It was very relaxing and I say that well planned you could spend half a day here.

What a beautiful lake nestled in the Sequoia national forest. I was visiting friends in California and they took me here. I absolutely loved it. Although while I was hiking around the lake perimeter. I saw something just inside the tree line. It wasn't an animal or anything of that nature. It was a white transparent shape. Definitely human shaped. But I couldn't make out any distinguishing features. No arms, face or legs. Just a human sized something in an apparent white gown. But it was transparent and then vanished.

Hume Lake is a gem nestled in the heart of Sequoia National Forest. At an elevation of 5,204.5 ft, it offers breathtaking views that will leave you in awe. We had the privilege of witnessing this natural wonder from the Kings Canyon Panoramic Point Overlook, and the sight was nothing short of magical. The serene beauty of the lake, surrounded by towering trees, is a sight to behold.

Such an over rated green water pit. Terrible drive. Too many curves and so very far just to go to GREEN WATER. I SO MUCH WANTED TO SMIM. No restrooms near the water. DISCUSTING DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND GAS . 😒 🙄 😤

Very nice visitors center for your first stop in the park. Always make sure to stop and grab information about the park before you hike. Spacious center with many diagrams to learn more about the park. Ample amount of staff ready to assist. The rangers were great answering all our questions and getting the children sworn in as junior rangers.

The staff was attentive to answer my questions, they gave me good suggestions, the place was packed for being a long weekend but it was clean including the bathrooms, the souvenir shop with a good variety of items, a nice patio for sunbathing or have a drink (if you bring it) the restaurant area was closed to the public.

Best place to go with family. They have a river that runs along the whole 4oad that you're on. The water is still and crystal clear. Beautiful huge trees surround you and you can literally stop along place you choose and get off and swim.

Beautiful place, there's a visitor center where you can buy souvenirs and learn a lot about Kings canyon national park, there are bathrooms , cafeteria, parking lot and rangers to ask about the conditions

This was a great spot to park the car and begin our journey. Obviously if you are looking at this place.. you are familiar with the trees and hiking. So I will say this place has nice big bathrooms and an extensive food menu. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Perfect to begin your adventure. Enjoy I give this 5⭐️ Jerry (the pigeon) gives it 5 ⭐️ as well. He also liked Charles the Raven who visited us outside the dinning area. ❤️

The park was amazing unfortunately the museum and cafe were closed for the season. The lodgepole general store is open. It does get busy so plan your trip accordingly. I got there around 9 and there was maybe 20 cars there. By the time (1130) we did the complete loop and got back to the top the parking lot was full.

Beautiful setting right by General Grant and surrounded by the other huge redwoods. Good stock of Park info and touristy memorabilia. Highly recommend!

Worth the stop while visiting Kings Canyon. Take note, you currently have to use the Kings Canyon entrance to see the giant sequoias because of road closure. Don't waste your time driving to the entrance of the Sequoia National Park.

Certainly one of the top-notch visitor centers for national parks. Their information desk is quite helpful for inquiries and directions. Do check for latest information. I got to know the road to cedar groove was closed. Additionally, they offer a gift shop on-site and plethora of info into the park's geology and historical significance. All in all, the visitor center is exceptionally well-maintained.

Definitely one of the good visitor centers when it comes to national parks. They have an information booth where you can ask queries and directions. If you are planning to see any specific place be sure to check with them. In my case I wanted to do the scenic driveway but they informed me that the road was closed. Definitely ended up saving a lot of time. They also have a gift shop along the place. There's a theater too if you are interested in understanding more about geology and the historical importance of the park. Overall very nicely maintained visitor centers.

Kings was beautiful but unfortunately much of it is closed due to road damage from a recent winter storm. That said, the visitor center is open! Inside you can find some information about the park and wildlife as well as suveneers. If you are like me, the other good thing is that they have a restaurant with a full menu on the same "campus" as the visitor center and the food was actually surprisingly good.

Crystal Springs campground is very nice and peaceful. Most sites are level, but some are really unlevel. One bathroom is centrally located. There is no electricity in the bathrooms. One drawback are the people who have to bring their I'll mannered dogs. Barking all day at the breeze, other dogs, people walking by. Do everyone a favor and leave the dogs at home.

Really enjoyed touring Kings Canyon. There’s a nice short movie here worth watching with some history. Grant Village was a good stop, restrooms, restaurant, visitor center, post office, marketplace for souvenirs, etc.

Interesting place! It was partly covered in snow when I visited 2 weeks ago. Winter snow melt caused much floods in some areas and they had to close some places. Luckily, I got to see general Grant tree which was also well surrounded by snow ❄️

A really cool spot if you can get up to it. When we hiked in we got snow on us. But overall a really cool place to camp for the weekend. There are couple places to camp right before you get to Pear Lake. However, if you make the last bit up to Pear, it will be worth it ! I would like to come back and see it in the summer.

The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. This lake was absolutely beautiful. I was shocked to see that there was an outhouse up here.

If you can catch the moonrise here it is an unforgettable experience

Highly recommend! A beautiful 13 miles (out and back) hike with stunning views and decent elevation that will make the it also a nice endurance effort.

A truly amazing alpine lake and a popular camping destination. Even though this is at the end of a 6 mile hike, you won’t get solitude during the high season. I went on the last weekend before the quota season and it was already crowded.

Beautiful alpine lake, very popular with backpacking activists. It is within 6 mile hike through granite meadows in Sequoia National Park. Landscape reminds Half Dome area in Yosemite.

It’s so beautiful and peaceful. The lake is crystal clear. Highly recommend taking the hike over there!
