A museum focused on the history of cinema and media. It's recommended that you make a ticket reservation online as there are dedicated time slots. Tickets were $15, so very reasonably priced. You'll find an array of exhibits that span quite a long period and over several genres of media. Whether it's Jim Henson's Muppets or Star Wars, there's a rotating set of exhibits for different pieces. It's highly recommended to plan ahead and see what new exhibit is coming along at the time you want to go.

This is one of the coolest museums I’ve ever been to for film/tv history. There are cameras from every decade, a rotating exhibit on the top floor (in this case that was a Spanish mid-century filmmaker), and there was an incredible Jim Henson exhibit as well as a Laika exhibit! Great to bring family or friends to! Lots of hands on fun too! I needed more time. As an actor, this was my favorite museum in NY.

Great place to spend an afternoon. Compared to other museums, it’s on the small side. Still, for movie lovers, it’s a fun spot to check out. They have a few interactive exhibits that, on busy days, require quite the wait. Also, their gift shop is one of my favorites. Free admission every Thursday from 2pm-6pm & Free admission for NYC Teachers with valid ID.

One of the best museums I have been to. As a avid Jim Henson fan I was blown away by the exhibit, very fun and informative. The other exhibitions were incredible too I was very pleased I visited this little gem. A definite recommendation to anyone interested in film and moving image its a fantastic place and the staff were very friendly.

This museum was one of my favorites! Many many cool finds if you’re interested in any from of media, including the complete history of tv, animation, and radio and many insights of other media forms like live tv, stop motion animation. The Jim Henson exhibition has so much on the puppetry history and process 😍 the interior and branding of the museum is overall very lovely, and many sections of the museum were interactive which was nice 🤍

Very cool museum! We lucked out and it was a free admission Thursday when we visited which was an unexpected bonus. We wanted to see the Jim Henson exhibit in particular which was extensive and very well curated. The rest of the museum had many interesting exhibits related to film and animation. I particularly liked seeing all the different types of cameras used through the years.

Great museum! We had so much fun! The third floor has many interactive exhibits, and we could try recording voices, stop motion animation, soundtrack picking, Foley art. Great way to learn and have fun at the same time. The second level has an incredible Jim Henson exhibit- so much nostalgia. Honestly, incredible. Worth it to visit when you're in the city! Would highly recommend for anyone looking for something fun, but not super touristy.

An amazing experience, both visually and educationally. You learn so much about the history of film, and they have quite a few interactive exhibits to keep children and adults alike entertained. It's practically a must-go for pop culture enthusiasts and movie buffs.

Went to the Museum of the Moving Image earlier today, specifically to the Jim Henson exhibition. It wasn't a particularly big exhibition, but the stuff that was there was super interesting and in excellent condition. I became a Muppets/Henson fan an adult, when I was a kid I was never into them. Nevertheless, I got a little misty-eyed in front of Kermit (it was friggin' Kermit the Frog, right there in front of me! I would have bawled my eyes out had the Rainbow Connection been playing in the background).

Really enjoyed our visit to the Museum of the Moving Image. The highlight here is the exhibit featuring the story of Jim Henson and the Muppets. I learned a lot and it was a ton of fun. The exhibit could have taken up the entire building. They just need more about my favorite muppet, Animal. The exhibit showcasing the history of TVs, cameras, and sound equipment was fascinating as well. Worth the trip to Astoria!

So glad I finally checked this place out! My family was visiting from out of town and it was a really fun way to escape the midday heat. Like everyone else, we really enjoyed the Jim Henson exhibit. We didn’t do any of the additional ticketed screenings, but they looked interesting.

One of the coolest museums I’ve ever seen. Time flew as I travelled inside this time capsule that took me through my childhood memories. Even better experiencing them with my parents and my son as we all could relate to the magic that TV and movies has had in our lives. I highly recommend this museum. A hidden gem in Astoria, Queens.

Film lovers have here a must-see place in NYC. Behind the screen is an outstanding exhibition in the museum. One can learn so much about filmmaking history and all the science embedded in it. The Jim Herson area is so beautiful and nostalgic for fans of all ages. Bring your student ID even if you are from another country and then you will pay the student admission ($12). Check coat is available. Also, you can check the schedule to have the chance to watch some films.

The Museum of the Moving Image is a dynamic and interactive space that keeps you interested and captivated at each turn. Although only three floors, I spent almost 2 hours inside of this museum. The third floor showcased the history of moving images. I loved tinkering with the interactive components, and getting a tangible sense of how many of these methods for capturing movement were used. As the exhibit progressed, it felt like following along a timeline from the oldest to newest equipment. The second floor as also pretty magical, all thanks to the Jim Henson exhibit. Seeing all of the muppets and characters brought out my inner child. I also recommend stepping inside the Egyptian theatre, which was also pretty surreal. If you walk up the ramp on the lefthand side there is a surprise (hint: pull the cord!). This museum is a gem in Queens, and I am so glad I visited. I visited the museum on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't busy at all, and there is a really sleek, modern space on the first floor to rest and have some snacks. The space was very clean and well maintained. Although small, the gift shop also has some great MOMI merchandise.

Smaller scale museum that provides great history of the technology behind capturing the moving image. Many authentic historical equipment exhibits. Good descriptions. Wonderful permanent Jim Henson exhibit, which is a featured museum display and definitely worth the time. Henson's vision, insight and talent were instrumental in creating historic children's television programs. Both Sesame Street and The Muppet Show are truly classic instructional and revolutionary entertainment for the whole family. Only suggestion is to dress in light layers as upper floors were very warm. Check your local library for an opportunity to secure museum passes in advance.

Such a fun experience! It was amazing getting to see the behind the scenes of popular films and shows. I didn’t expect there to be so many interactive elements and I was pleasantly surprised. There was an area to make a stopmotion film, a recording studio where you can dub over clips from films, some free arcade games like NBA Jam, a booth to create your own muppet, and a place to practice your puppet skills. This is a place I would definitely come back to, especially since you get admission to one screening of your choice with your entrance fee. I can’t recommend this place enough, especially for kids!

I really enjoyed my visit here! The exhibitions are very well-designed and there are plenty of interactive activities great for both kids and adults. I especially recommend this museum for anyone who’s interested in seeing the fine details of how films are made.

Astoria park is a great place for anyone to go to. Whether to lay out and tan, read a book, bring your dog or children, friends and family get togethers — or bike / run / walk the trails . There’s running tracks, and soccer fields — you name it. Plus the view looking into Manhattan is nice too !

Beautiful park! We went as a group and brought our blanket and enjoyed snacks and chats. Lots of open space and nice scenery of the bridge, ferry, and water. There were ice cream trucks but I wouldn’t recommend it since they were pretty expensive for what it was. 1 vanilla with sprinkle cone was $9. But it was nice on a hot day. The playground was great for the kids. The pool wasn’t filled but I went at the beginning of spring so I wouldn’t expect it. The one Cherry blossom tree was so cute! Highly recommend for running, walking, picnic, and naps as it feels very safe and clean. There was also a public restroom which is always great.

This park has changed so much since 2003. Shore Blvd has some great views of the city and is especially beautiful at night. The park is pretty popular, so the lot fills up quickly. The track is in great condition and lit up well in case you want do go at night. The fields are nice to go picnic when the weather fits in.

Such a beautiful park. 2 bridges to look at. Picnic spaces and paths to walk on. Very diverse group of people come here to this park. There’s also biking areas and a huge pool. Will definitely come back! Recommend to every New Yorker.

This is such a local gem in Astoria. It’s the backyard for the community with birthday parties, meetups and picnics always happening. The sunsets are the best along the waterfront. There’s a track and soccer games are always being played inside the track. There’s a skate park with a bunch of ramps. Playground for the kiddos, basketball courts, tennis courts and even some outdoor weight equipment. The pool is being renovated and back next summer, you cannot go wrong with this park. There’s even a GIANT parking lot under the Triboro which makes it very accessible.

The view of a lifetime, stunning. Astoria park is like the most relaxing place ever. One of the largest in the city, home to a pool, a track and a soccer field. You can catch concerts in the summer, and they Throw one heck of a good fireworks show every July 1st. In the winter you can sled down the big hill by the pool, or any incline you find. Some of the best views ever. There's also tennis and basketball courts. Usually plenty of parking in the area. There's even a bacce ball court, and a sand trap. Enjoy!

We come to this park pretty often after work hours to catch sunset and just go for a stroll around the park with our dog 🐾. You can see the gorgeous view of the Manhattan skyline. The park is big and there are many things to do around; tennis court, dog park, running track etc and lots of benches to just sit and relax between a long walk. We really do enjoy coming to this park.

Another gem in NYC. A great walk from end to end. So many scenic views you forget where you are. Astoria park follows the East River and has stunning views of multiple bridges as well as an Amtrak bridge and Randall's Island. There's wide open bike lanes that allow safe walking/running for pedestrians as well. There's a soccer field surrounded by a running rack, tennis courts, basketball courts with 2 full court runs and a few half court set ups, a swimming pool (still closed for the season), a playground, a skate park and im probably missing more. There are also several smaller parks in the area to suit every park goer's needs(for example, this park doesn't have handball courts but multiple in the area do). There's plenty of picnic space though I surprisingly didn't see anyone cooking out. There's a decent parking lot which we easily found parking on a sunny 80 degree Sunday afternoon. My only complaint, I didn't see any concession stands or store fronts in the park. Though there are several deli's in the area. I like having options to buy water or Granola bars if I forget them. Overall a must visit NYC Park. Simply for the views. Will be returning despite having to pay tolls from the Bronx.

This is one of my favorite parks to visit while in NY, the scenery is beautiful. You get a great view of the water and the bridge while you’re on a walk. There’s multiple parks that kids can play and ride bikes. And they have a track you can walk as well as many other trails. Lots of bikers, and dog walkers come here. Overall a beautiful park to visit with family

This is basically the "Central Park" of Astoria. It is a large park that features a variety of activities (more so during the Summer months). There are large sections of grass to sit on and relax. You can walk along the water and watch all the boats go by. In the Summer, you can enjoy movies in the park and the yearly fair. There is also an Olympic sized swimming pool, tennis courts, a playground, and a running track.

This Park is really interesting because has a Swimming Pool yap it's but, I'm not sure how it works but you should found more information about it on the Park authority wet page ,also has a soccer field with running tracks oval you should have alot of space were your can walk and joined the view of the River right next to it, pretty nice.

Not only one of the best views of Queens, but also super clean and safe. My son loves playing at the playground here and our dog loves chasing the squirrels. Great family park for everyone.

I feel lucky to live right off the park! The skyline never bores me and my son and I make great use of the lawns, renovated playgrounds, and track! Tip: if you have a dog, you might want to avoid the great lawn during off leash hours and choose the lawn on the Ditmars side instead…less dogs and more space! With the pool slated to re-open summer 2024, Astoria park will be better than ever!

This is one of my favorite New York City destinations. Beautiful park by the river with two stunning bridges and a waterside promenade along with a very relaxed vibe. The swimming pool is a fantastic place for outdoor lap swimming in summer. One of New York’s best.

This is one of my favorite parks in all of NYC. Its a pretty small park but also big enough to do a plethora of activities, people watch, admire the Hells Gate and Tribrough Bridge and the awesome neighborhood of Astoria. What I love about this park compared to many of the other parks in NYC is that this park feels like the neighborhood park. Sure, there's going to be people visiting from elsewhere but I've come to this park many times and encountered the same group of people who are usually there, greeting each other and knowing the other people from the surrounding area. It feels very unique compared to other NYC parks. Beautiful park in a very quaint, charming area of Astoria! Sure, its not Central Park in how grand it is but its a park that feels much more local than most other big city parks in NYC! Highly recommend checking out if you are living or staying in the area!

I live right next to the park. Its a beautiful place. Great views to the city, amazing sunsets and it has everything you need. The playground is big a d clean. There are enough benches to take a sun bath or just relax while watching the squirrels chasing. I cant wait for summer 2024 again when the pool gets reopend.

First time here 8/28 Been wanting to come here for some time and finally made it, just before last call. Really cool people working here, thanks again! Will certainly return to have more (with more time) and looking forward to getting that pretzel!

The lady behind the bar was extremely rude. I gave her a $20 bill and gave me incorrect change. I asked what the price was and she pointed to the screen. I then asked if she would give me the loose change and she said no she doesn’t have so then told me to pay in card instead but in a very, very nasty way. So in other words, they are rude and don’t respect you and your money. Will not go back and that’s a shame since I love to support local businesses.

Awesome experience! Bartenders Amanda and Nate were great! Lagers and chocolate stout were our favorites! We had a ton of fun, we will definitely be back and we will be bringing our friends!

This place is amazing! Amanda (who isn't the owner but really could be), is a plethora of knowledgable. She was able to recommend multiple choices for someone less than beer savvy, while being patient and personable. Nate is also amazing and was quick with help. Highly recommend this place for a group gathering or a quick drink. Go there, you will not be disappointed!!

Fun brewery for board games, and watching the game. Came for a Sunday afternoon, place had a good crowd and seemed to have an event going on, bonsai tree pruning. Interesting I know…the beer was good, for sure would come back to check out the bingo or events they host. Also big plus for being in Astoria 👌 probably my favorite place in Queens. Staff were nice, walk up order a beer and sit anywhere. Chill. Food options limited, they recommend ordering delivery from nearby restaurants.

First time at Singlecut- they have a good selection of beers ranging from sours, IPAs, ales and lagers. I was a fan of their golden ale. We tried their cheddar truffle pretzel, which was yummy. They also have stacks of fun board games available.

This was a really cool spot in the old industrial part of Jackson Heights. Great selection of beers and surprisingly good food for the small menu. Watched some March Madness, had some chicken tacos and some delicious Imperial Stouts. Nice indoor beer garden style brewery with a solid selection on tap. Support your local Beersmiths. Awesome Eats, better beer.

It was the summer of 2018, and their was a Syracuse football game up on the big screen. We ordered up a few delicious beers and made ourselves comfortable at some long tables in the rustic space. It's an under the radar spot and definitely worth the treck to deep Astoria. Cons: would not allow me to play guest dj (probably a good call on their part)

This my fave spot. Like. I don’t tell everyone about this spot cuz I like it so much. Big fan of all IPA’s until I tried a 18Watt single cut IPA, found out the brewery was in Astoria, and now single cut has a special place in my heart. Special like host a surprise kind of special.

So many selections on tap to appeal to a variety of palates. I enjoyed a cream ale, and sampled my friend’s porter and double IPA. Great flavors in all 3. The tasting room itself has a really cool vibe all the while maintaining a neighborhood feel. Great way to enjoy an easy Saturday afternoon in NYC.

Singlecut was my 'local' for 3 years and I can't speak more highly of it. The staff are all wonderful and the beer is consistently great with a good range of styles. Large clean space with plenty of seating. Pinball in the back and a really good pizza shop across the road. Trivia on Friday is always a good time too. It's a little bit of a walk from the closest train but absolutely worth it.

Not as well arranged as public street art collections in comparable big cities (e.g. Leake St in London). But there is some great artwork in this remote pocket of Queens ... In my opinion; well worth the train & bus trip from Manhattan 👍

If you love urban art, graffiti art, mural walls or street art then Welling Court is the right place to visit located in a quiet location in Queens, NY not too far from other good locations in Queens. The art work was great and innovative. I really enjoyed visiting this site and i would recommend it to other people interested in street art. Parking was not a problem and the crowd was just doing the same thing i was doing, taking pictures.

Cool pieces. Like others mentioned, it’d be great for the area to be cleaner. Also, not sure if it was just me but I didn’t see as much as I thought I was going to see. I live in the area so it was worth it for me but I’m not sure it’d be worth the trip if you are far. I’ll continue to walk in the area to see what else goes up.

I went to the Annual Graffiti event yesterday in Astoria and it was the bomb! I’ve been there few times amd couldn’t wait to go back to check new graffiti! The artists were all nice and friendly and their work on point.. incredible street art. If you are a #graffitilover you can’t misd this place! I would let the picture talk now.

Cool street art located a short walk away from the NYC Ferry Astoria station. Murals include work for the Bushwick Collective, Shiro One and Caryn Cast. The street art is condensed within one area (a few blocks).

Superb art, it's a must see, well worth a visit, use the map on their website to see the location of the murals. It's easy walking distance from the Astoria ferry terminal.

Totally disgusting! I was there in the middle of the day (2.00pm) with my toddler to play. There was trash and vomit all over the place and two people having intercourse on a bench directly next to the playground. I am disgusted and embarrassed of what this playground had become. Very sad.

My son enjoyed this park a lot. The sprinklers are on. It is winter now. The sprinklers are off. Google wanted me to update the status of the park.

Absolutely filthy. Trash everywhere . Over flowing trash cans. Homeless people taking up benches. No bathrooms so smells of urine. Terrible draining at the sprinkler in the summer causes a pool of mud to form where trash accumulates pigeons use it as a bath and the mosquitoes are rampant. NYC should do better, this playground is shameful !

Perfect place to meet up to explore Astoria. Right at the queens end of the Robert Kennedy (triboro) bridge with reasonable parking. Also right at the Astoria Blvd train station (N & W trains) and M60 bus. Easy walk (West) to the heart of Steinway Street or (North) to Astoria Park or (East) to Ditmas Blvd. Just okay as a park.

This park gives off a true concrete jungle park. It's open 24 hours. You are also guaranteed to spot the usual homeless New Yorkers sleeping. This park has a playground and a miniature water park/fountain that seems to never turn off.

Currently under renovation and construction, so only one handball court and the older aged play area (slides, jungle gym, etc.) are open. Usually, it's a decent playground with open space, a sea serpent water sprinkler, basketball courts, two play areas and a set of swings. Big downside is it's next to the subway and a LOT of random people cut through to get to and from the subway. Not a particularly clean playground and sometimes vagrants hang out on the benches, but kids tend to like it just fine.

Not bad, I wouldn’t go back. Trash around the park and if is not cleaned as much as it should. You get kids swearing and riding dirt bikes inside the park when little kids are playing. Security is poor and no laws are really enforced. Doesn’t really see safe for the kids .

Clean, nice variety of playground staples, swings, jungle gym, slides for the kids and basketball courts, field hockey areas and handball courts. It even has a water feature in the summer. Nice place.

Trinity Lutheran church of long island city This is a great place I'm not a member I attend their pantry. Wonderful people like Mrs carol,all the staff just cares for Everyone at their door. Their church is like Being back in time so gorgeous. I pray it stays many decades to come. Keep up the love for humanity your all what this world needs more of.

Beautiful sanctuary, friendly parishioners and thoughtful minister. We went for Palm Sunday services while visiting our son in Queens. We'll definitely be back.

This congregation is welcoming and friendly. Pastor Paul has a message of love and acceptance. The service is traditional, but the message is progressive. I really love going to church here!

All in all, it's not perfect, but a great addition to the local area. Read below for a more detailed review. The park is currently being updated, so there are a few things that need attention - like the basketball court... However, the addition of soccer nets (in place of a former adjacent basketball full court) is excellent for children of all ages looking for a different activity. The playground looks better than before, and all the units are kept clean and in good condition. Bathrooms are located in the playground area, but are not always open... Last, but not least, the traffic noise from the RFK Bridge is ever-present, but once you accept it's not going to go away, it's fairly easy for most people to tune it out.

Really fun playground for the kids. Lots of benches and swings. It could benefit from a renovation in the area for toddlers. The frog sprinklers are great for the summer.

Very nice and a lot of fun for my son. We are here at the basketball court several times a week. I was happy to see several park staff members walking around to pick up any little bits of trash lying around, clearing weeds, and keeping the park clean. The park staff does a fantastic job and truly goes above and beyond. The only thing I can critique is I wish the parks department would stay on top of replacing basketball nets regularly when they are broken. Update: A week after I posted this review the broken basketball nets were replaced. Thank you parks department for staying on top of it.

Its amazing! I love this park. There is some downs tho, the park is a bit...simple. its still really fun. There's monkey bars, a place to exercise for adults or children,swings for babies and for older kids/adults,slides,poles, basketball place, soccer place,and a place for kids to get wet. Everyone Should come here with their kids!

Some if the slides are messy (like alot) and the swings seem dangerous as they tend to creak alot, it makes me nervous as I think they might break. However there are other fun things there.

Great place to bring your dog to socialize: two enclosed areas: main & little dogs- worth a visit if you haven't been there

Field is not in the greatest condition but it's a great field play

It's great having a local ballfield, but it's very poorly maintained. The parks department hardly ever cuts the grass. Drainage is very poor and the field gets flooded after small rain storms. The entire field needs to be renovated. I'm sure the field is largely neglected because of its location, but I'm sure as the area gentrifies and is filled with new "luxury" construction, it will get more attention.

For a field named after a Yankee legend much better care should be taken. Great location to play a game. Bad location for parking. Ther are no bathroom facilities available.

Whitey Ford was an Astoria native who, after signing with the Yankees in 1947, became a Cy Young Award winner, a six-time World Series champion, and one of the greatest pitchers in Yankee history. In August 2000, this field overlooking the East River was named after the "Chairman of the Board" at a special Yankee Stadium ceremony.

The views are amazing. But the overall park isn't much. And the baseball/softball field could use to attention.

This place needs a lot of TLC. I'm sure that once the building next to it is complete the parks department will be forced to put a tin of money in. Let's hope anyway.
