Definitely should be on your bucket list. Go early, you will have about 30 mines window before big tour bus show up. Sunrise are Karnak is amazing.

A beautiful monumental work that allows us to capture the life of the ancient Egyptians. The dimensions of the architectural elements are enormous and captivate with their beauty. Note that it would take you a minimum of 2 hours to "run" the entire complex, and given Luxor's climate it would be best to visit between October and May, as 40 degrees in June was a bit brutal and distracting.

How did they do it; 134 massive columns in this temple. It's so amazing, the whole temple has one surprise after another. It's a temple not to be missed with its lake to painted hieroglyphics.

Really cool. Highly recommend. We went with a guide who was able to give us tons of info about the temple, but honestly its not necessary unless you truly want to learn about it. If you just want to take it in and be in awe of how incredible the structure is, you could totally enjoy without a guide.

This temple is amazing, but VERY busy. We got extremely lucky because our tour guide was a professor of Egyptology so we got a better tour than most, and he gave us a proper education on the topic, and even translated hieroglyphs. Luxor is utterly amazing. we will be going back for a 2 week trek across many more sites as we've only seen the tip of the iceberg

Now this was incredible, I had no idea this gigantic structure even existed, the Temple is really amazing and gives you a great idea of Ancient Egyptian society. However, there was a seller right at the back of the temple who was very pushy who followed us for a long time, so be careful and don't be afraid to say no. Remember, don't give anyone your phone!

Great place to visit there are temples upon temples and if you’re not familiar with ancient Egyptian history highly suggest you get a guide to explain all the interesting artefacts and paintings. I got here at 6am and pretty much had the place to myself with some stray dogs 🐕

Huge temple complex, definitely worth a visit if you're in Luxor. It gets crowded, so it's worth going early when it opens. There are tons of tour groups too.

A wonderful place full of rich history. Definitely do your research on basic Egyptian history or get a guide before coming here, the sheer amount of information written on the walls of the temple speak volumes of the pharaohs that ruled long before our time.

The place shows a lot of history, and it looks nice, but not very impressive because a lot of ruins were destroyed by the earthquake. Basically, you can see a lot of stones and just a couple of statues and 3 obelisks. Was so hot when we visited, about 42°C.

A beautiful archaeological place and very rich in antiquities and the ancient Egyptian civilization, and it has very large statues of King Ramses and the important royal families, and there is a wonderful lake inside the temple, and there are many obelisks, beautiful paths, huge pillars decorated with words and dates, really a place that fascinates you very much

It is simply amazing to visit this place, they say is the biggest temple in Egypt, they are doing a great job to renovate all the ruins. If you are in Luxor you should visit this place. There is no special dressing requirements since is not a mosque.

This extensive temple complex could be explored for hours. The fingerprints of so many pharaohs and their contributions (bragging) is on display even after eons of environmental and human damage. Still, take a guide, do a little research before you go and enjoy the walk on ground trod upon by the most mighty and most common people of Egypt both ancient and modern.

Absolutely incredible, just like most monuments in Luxor. If you want to have a look at the monuments in peace, you'll need about 2 hours. We stayed until the very last minute before they walked us out and it was virtually empty.

Ruins of the constructed temple in BC is yet another example of Egyptians mastery in construction and construction technology. It cannot be explained in a few lines. Seeing is believing. Hence a must visit place for understanding the magnitude and complexity.

The Karnak Temple Complex… many temples and chapels inside… we did it in one and half hour to see the most important parts… but it would need whole day to see it… ticket office wasn’t that crowded but we came out of the season… an organised trip is recommended as many small details are woth to be explained..

Came here for the nightly light show. Nice story and narration of the history of the area. Amazing to see how magnificent these buildings were and how significant they were to society back then. Can’t believe these were made so far back in time. The lights really highlighted to look at and focus on, super nice!

We loved every second history is all around you wherever you look. They are astonishing to see in real life and still the original colour on the pillars. Definitely one of our buckets list.

Very easy to get there via inDrive (equivalent to uber). There are many tour guides that offer their service by the entrance, however you can just read all the information by the gate or read it online. The temple offers very little shade and it gets quite hot during midday, so a visit during the early hours of the morning is advisable. You can buy the tickets by the entrance, students get a 50% discount with a valid ID. We stayed around 2 hours and decided to rush a little due to the overwhelming heat, but would have loved to extend our visit as the temple is remarkable.

Amazing to see! The detail and work that has gone into this is incredible! The fact that it has been so well preserved is amazing. Honestly nothing like I have ever seen. So worth it. Really hot and stuffy down there but so so worth it. Definitely a good idea to wear suitable shoes! Ones that grip as it's easy to slip. It's all so amazing to see. Highly recommend going here!!

Well maintained Definitely worth visiting as it shows how the pharaohs and kings used to plan for their deaths. Very hot in summer so make sure you stay dehydrated. Some of the graveyards seemed exceptional large and colourful. A lot of history (albeit much of which is not positive at all) can be witnessed here.

Incredible. Walked up without a guide. Each tomb clearly marked and described. Lots of info online so really no need for a bad guide so unless you hire one that comes highly re commended I suggest enjoying at your own pace.

Amazing to see how they have done 4000 years ago. For $12 you can visit 3 tombs but special tombs cost extra. My top tombs 1. SETI I it cost $30 bugs extra but totally worth it and you can skip rest. The amount of work is 10x better to others so why not spend when you came all way down here 😀 2. Ramses V and VI it cost $5 but again worth it 3. Ramses IV and XI are part of general ticket and very good

Of course, this is a must-see location in Egypt. Home to many of the kings of Ancient Egypt including Tutankhamun. There are several tombs which can be explored. Three of these are included in the ticket price, all Ramses. Out of the three extra optional tombs, we only visited the Tutankhamen one. Here you can see the only remaining mummy. It is well worth seeing. Note that inside the tombs there are always locals willing to give you the ‘pictures beyond the rope’ for a few notes (10 dollars or something is fine). Bring some small change if you want this. There is a place for a snack and drink at the top, and a small shuttle that will save the walk up the valley (40 Egyptian dollars). Tombs are quite humid! I recommend getting a guide. They’re very affordable and knowledgeable, saving a lot of stress.

Goes without saying that you must visit if staying in Luxor. The tombs are incredible to see in person. Each tomb requires quite a few steep steps to navigate with varying depths. The colors are rich with fine details throughout. While Tuts tomb is popular, it was the least impressive of those I saw. An incredible experience overall.

Better visit the place in the cooler months. You can avail the facility of golf cart but walking down the street will be better if it is not too hot. Very beautiful site, must include site while visiting Egypt.

The tombs are magnificent, you should not only go in and shoot pictures, but also enjoy the magnificent environment, the magic from the stories told about the afterlife. Many symbols found remains in actual religions. You should carefully watch the scenes, the 12 hours of the night, the wonderful art they created.

Well preserved tombs, unbelievable experience of valley of the kings and the cultural past. Unfortunately for us, it was hot as hell in the tombs and literally felt like a sauna but well worth the trip down memory lane!

Some king tombs are very deep, some have very steep slopes. It is very stuffy and hot inside, plus very dusty. You have to buy an extra ticket to enter King Tut's tomb. Don't forget to wear a mask and take plenty of water and an umbrella with you.

A place that you must visit when you come to Egypt, but be prepared. It is a popular tourist destination and bus loads of tourists are constantly arriving, resulting in long lines at each tomb entrance. Expect to wait 20 to 30 minutes to enter, 15 or 20 minutes (often standing in the hot sun) to enter each tomb that you want to see, and about 20 minutes or more to tag along in line behind everyone else to walk through the tombs. It is also very hot inside some of the tombs. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and take plenty of water with you. Consider wearing a hat or carrying a small umbrella. Guides are not allowed inside the tombs, but if you hire a guide it is very helpful as they can explain each tomb and its inhabitants very well for you. Also, (very important!) if you want to see the tomb of King Tut, access is very limited so buy your tickets in advance. Plan on at least 4 hours here or more to see as much as possible. There are restrooms available and a small store/cafe where you can buy snacks, water, or other drinks.

The valley is not spectacular, but what's buried underneath it is amazing. Once Pyramids weren't built anymore, hidden tombs were placed in the hillside. Some of the tombs like Ramesses V And VI are excellent examples of tomb art.

Impressive place! One ticket gives you access to visit three tombs of your choice. Except for the tomb of Tut Ankh Amun. With this one you need a different ticket. It is like a sauna being inside the tombs and it can get busy especially when people stop too long while taking pictures so be prepared!

A truly amazing place!!, We visited Rameses I,III, IX, and of course, the boy King's tomb where we stood 3ft from Tut himself. The landscape is awesome, and the detail still visible in some of the tombs is ... just WOW!!, and when we visited you could take photo / video

Highly recommend! Really well preserved and maintained tombs decorated with traditional scenes from mythology and reveal clues to the period of afterlife beliefs. Almost all of the tombs seem to have been opened and robbed in antiquity, but they still give an idea of the opulence and power of Egypt's pharaohs. Take a bottle of water with you and explore!

A pair of remote valleys in the dessert devoted to the burial of Pharaohs, decorated with elaborate inscriptions and adorned with treasures (mostly plundered) where the mummified bodies were laid to rest. Spanning 2,000 years of Nile history. And now you can see it for yourself.

Tombs are beautiful. More can be done to preserve them well. Though, the management around the whole archaeological site is terrible. Everyone is begging for some tip from you, from the guy behind the ticket counter to security guards at individual tombs, it's ruins the whole experience. Also, be prepared to pay ridiculous prices at the only cafe inside the site area, carry your own suppliers otherwise.

Something that you have to see to believe, the entrance to the tombs can be very steep and stifling hot once inside so wear light clothes and plenty of water , also make sure you are fit enough to undertake- be careful of the hawkers on your way back to the entrance to the park

A place probably known to everyone who was even a little interested in history. It's nice to be there, although it's not as spectacular on the outside as the temples of the queens. Several tombs are available to visit in the ticket price. For the more famous ones you have to pay extra. I was there in December and the weather was beautiful for sightseeing. It must be hell there during the summer months because there is no place to hide from the sun.

One of our highlights of Egypt. We went inside 4 tombs and each one was unique. 20 pound note to take tram up to mountain. Tombs are withing walking distance of each other. Really nice to see the colors and details.

Fabulous Seti 1, Tutankhamen and Ramses III! Seti 1 and Tutankhamen are considered premium tombs and there is a higher fee. Don’t let the higher fee deter you from visiting these two. Totally stunning the work that went into these tombs, also be awed by the wealth, power and exploitation of the slaves you did the grunt work.You are allowed to visit any three of the tombs on standard ticket.

We have been to King Tut tomb and saw the mummy it’s dark skin they had to burn to take the golden mask off, King Snefro as well; colors are amazing still in good condition good, atmosphere surrounding you in mystery and magnificent atmosphere, makes your brain wondering what was going over there that time! Very highly recommended; I would call it valley of secrets and wonders.

Spectacular location, the mountains are incredible and of course, the tombs are incredible and it's a truly amazing feat of ancient engineering and art to see!! See them all, some are quite steep so the climb back up can be a challenge but worth it! Pay extra for Ramses and Seti!

Incredibly interesting and a must see! We paid extra to go in to Tutankhamen’s tomb. You have to be quite fit and able to go down in to the tombs, it’s a lot of steps and quite warm. Definitely pay the extra 20 Egyptian pounds to take the buggy and save the massive walk.

Fascinating tombs of some of the pharaohs. Many are very well preserved and there is beautiful decoration on the walls and amazing scenes from the kings life. Tutankhamun's tomb contains his mummified remains in a hermetically sealed casket. It's amazing how these were dug into the hills and concealed. Even more amazing how these were discovered.

My experience in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor was absolutely unforgettable. The sheer grandeur and mystique of this ancient burial site left me in awe. Walking through the valley, surrounded by towering cliffs and golden desert sands, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of reverence for the history and culture that surrounded me. Exploring the tombs of the pharaohs was a truly humbling experience. Each tomb was a testament to the ingenuity and artistry of the ancient Egyptians, and I felt privileged to be able to witness it firsthand. One of the highlights of my visit was the tomb of Tutankhamun. Although smaller in size compared to some of the other tombs, the richness of its artifacts and the well-preserved nature of its decorations made it a truly remarkable sight. Lovely one specially by night. You can see the sphinx passage close to the entrance. Special dinners are done by night. Lovely place. I like this temple very much. Please keep it clean and nice. Try to provide some shades all around. Also you make the electric cars with extra money to go through out the whole temple. All the best.

This is a great temple. Remember not to ride the horses outside, they are clearly abused and starving. Inside the temple there is plenty to see and walk along the avenue of sphinxes. One guy tried grabbing my arm. That is not acceptable, the Egyptian government really needs to do something about harassment at the tourist sites.

If only you could go there in peace it would be so much enjoyable. Let me clarify that. You can’t go anywhere near this place without getting harassed from everyone. It really is not enjoyable. Even the workers are hustling you for tips. It NEVER ends.

Beautiful temple with well preserved monuments. Perfect 1/2 day tour! We enjoyed a private tour with an Egyptologist...it was incredible.

Beautiful temple within the city of Luxor, very central location. The entrance is opposite McDonald's on the other side, if you're coming off the public ferry you will have to go over the roundabout, following Google's location of the temple will make you go all the way around. The temple has great examples of stone work, hieroglyphics and grand statues. The sphinx road is amazing and runs more than 2 kilometres! Literally through the city, you see the path from the roads above outside the temple. Looks great at sunrise, although if you want to take pictures best come before sunrise as the place gets busy with coach arrivals of tourists.

Great temple, cool to see the sphinx alley, as well as Christian and Islamic additions to the original temple. I'd recommend avoiding the night when it's lit up - crowds are insane and I think the sun illuminates the site better anyway

Super interesting place with an unbelievable amount of thousands of years history. Egyptians, Greek, Roman, ... they all left their marks and scars on the original ancient temple stones. We went here with a guide who showed us many details and told interesting stories around it. Highly recommended to do like this, it prevents you from just walking by history without really knowing what you are looking at

Obviously, an amazing temple. But I wouldn't follow people's advice to visit in the evening especially not for sunset. This is when the tour buses arrive and the place is really crowded (and full of idiots touching everything). Visit in the heat of the afternoon if you like to have places to yourself.

We enjoyed visiting this amazing archaeological site. It was very interesting and educational. It helps very much to have a local guide who can help to explain the history of the site, its excavation, and all of the facts and figures surrounding the writings and statues. We visited the site near sundown, and stayed a little longer to get photos after the stone structures were lighted. I would highly recommend doing that, if you can. Plan on spending about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to see the entire place.

Yet another impressive temple right in the heart of Luxor city. Not as big and astonishing as the Kernek temple which is 3 km away, but still, not to be missed. We visited it late in the evening and the experience was very much different, so I would definitely recommend it.

It is something you must see with your own eyes! This is the best from the ancient Egyptian. We were lucky with our guide explaining everything with patience and give us plenty of time to walk around and explore. Totally recommended!

Best time to visit is just before the sunset , that is golden hour. You will get to see the three shades of the day. Especially with light up evening will be beautiful. huge pillars and historic statues and much more hieroglyphs carved walls and obelisk. Costs 180 pounds, camera allowed at free of cost.

The temple is the only one that stays past the sunset, and that is why it was very crowded, all of the tourists go there after 5. It is very nice and very well preserved. They sell papyrus paper at the souvenirs shop. And there is access to the sphinx road. I recommend going but do it earlier so it isn’t that crowded.

It was absolutely amazing to stand in an area with centuries and centuries of history. To learn about the ways of those who rule in BC era's and to see the artistry and masonry of those times without modern machines was inspiring. Just to step into a moment of admiration of talent, dedication, and man's ability to create, Luxor Temple is worth a visit. It's hot out there, even in October. Wear comfortable shoes, loose clothing, and pack your patience because there are other tourists from around the world at every turn. Take a moment to close your eyes and listen to the sounds of the many languages and dialects around you.

I enjoyed my visit at this temple complex. The disadvantage of such a popular temple complex in the middle of a big city are the massive crowds. Touring cars as far as the eyes can see are being unloaded and dumped over here. I arrived at 18:45 during the peak hour and it became less busy around 19:00. The place is kinda big and the big pillars/columns are impressive to see, also during the nighttime when the whole place is illuminated.

A spectacular temple connected by an avenue of Sphinxes from Karnak temple. We saw it at night, which gave the whole temple a different aura to it. All the inscriptions and carvings seemed to pop out of the structure, truly a great experience.

Very cool architecture and statues, a lot of history. We came in the evening and unexpectedly at 753 pm, all the lights turned off and we were told to leave. Very sad as it is listed open until 10 pm. I tried taking a few last pictures and guards were standing in front of me telling me I couldn't. I was expecting more time, I did show up at an appropriate time. I recommend coming in the daytime so this can't happen.

Great architectural temple. Read up on this before you visit. Visiting 45 mins before close and close to end of the day will get you good lighting for great pictures.

Nice piece of history with good preserved engravings and work with colours. A few restorations. I see people speaking about guards and pictures. As a solo traveller for £1/£2 getting your photos taken isn't a bad thing...

This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited and certainly one of my favourites in Egypt; it’s absolutely stunning. Very well kept and is definitely worth the trip, it’s a must see when you visit Egypt. It’s truly jaw dropping, eye popping and majestically gorgeous.

An unusual mortuary temple dedicated to a female Pharoah, who ruled over upper and lower Egypt. A temple set into a hillside, with an impressive entry into the courtyard. The temple itself is well worth a visit, and is usually on the tours itinerary.

This place is between Valley of Kings and Valley of Queens, with a separate ticket. The temple is well preserved and structurally magnificent. I am not sure how many statues are original though - some of them seem pretty new to me. It would be a nice 8-min walk from the ticket booth to the temple if it is not too hot.

Amazing location and venue, solidly organized. A beautiful monument of historical importance, absolutely worth a look. Beware of men who kindly offer special painting and whatnot, almost forcing you to pay in return.

The absolute landmark the anyone who visits Egypt needs to see. Built under a rocky mountain that is similat to the Petra in Jordan. You can feel the greatness by standing in front of the monument. The building is well preserved. Avoid the locals asking you to take you pictures, they always want tipping.

Despite this temple being almost completely reconstructed (and work continues) it is still well worth a visit to understand the story of Queen Hatshepsut and the huge role she played in Egyptian mythology. The temple is impressive from afar but once up close there isn’t an awful lot to see. Nevertheless, if you’re in The Valley of the Kings/Queens, it’s a must see place.

The temple was built during the reign of Pharaoh Hatshepsut is a true masterpiece of Egyptian history. The temple was built by a powerful female ruler in ancient Egypt, which was very rare. Hatshepsut was the longest reigning female pharaoh who ruled for more than 20 years. The temple, though in ruins, is worth visiting. Better to visit in the morning time, preferably during winter season.

In October 2021, Our group visited the temple. It was very beautiful, powerful,and majestic. Her temple is right behind the valley of the kings. It was extremely hot on this day. So please bring a hat sunblock water and an extra chip/ SD card for your camera.

Amazing place to spend the morning visiting the temple. It deserves a visit with a guide to know a bit about its history and past. With the ticket you have the transport from the entrance to the temple (1 minute ride) and the entrance. Go early to avoid the heat in summer. Although It gets really crowded I think during winter time going after 12 it’s better because there’s less people.

We went very early so there were no lines. The place from outside is very pretty, the architecture is unbelievable. But from the inside there is mot much special things to see but still i believe you should visit it. There are scammers inside who will push you into taking pictures in unauthorized locations for tips, dont do it, it’s useless and it’s ugly pictures anyway.

Among my cherished spots in Luxor, this edifice is an absolute marvel! I'd return at any moment, and one could easily lose themselves here for hours on end.

It is a very glamorous place, but you can't even stay in the shadow in temperatures close to 50 C/120 F around, and no sunscreen works. Make sure you bring an umbrella and plenty of water!

Another amazing archaeological site and historic site in Egypt that you must visit when you are in the area. It is well known for its large statues, open courtyard, and beautiful location with the mountains in the background. You can walk to the temple from the entrance, but it’s worth it to pay a small fee to jump on one of the many electric shuttles to get to the temple, because you will be doing quite a bit of walking, including a fair number of steps, to see the entire temple. It gets busy by late morning as the buses start to arrive, so go really early or later in the day if you can.

Hatshepsut’s temple is a fascinating build. As the child of a mixed royal/common blood relationship - and as a woman, Hatshepsut faced criticism as a queen and deemed unworthy by many. As the ultimate stance here she lies not only as a Queen with a temple but with a tunnel buried here through to the Valley of the Kings - showing she was as great as any King that lived. The paintings here are fascinating - many of her own images are blurred out by a jealous brother who reigned afterwards, but much of the paintings remains due to the rule forbidding the destruction of images of the Gods. This is an impressive temple across three floors - a must see.

You will be impressed by the timeless allure of this ancient marvel that is so well preserved and stunning to see! Seeing this enormous temple on the opposite side of the mountain of the valley of the kings takes your breath away. Queen Hatchepsut's creation still looks remarkably stunning after all these years and many of the statues are still standing. The monument stands as an impressive testament to artistry and remains awe-inspiring to this day. Definitely worth seeing.

Spectacularly impressive building when you approach it. Nothing like this we saw anywhere else in Egypt. The interiors pale in comparison. Take the buggy as it's a hot walk to and fro.

An amazing temple behind the mountain which has Valley of the Kings on the other side. while it may seem smaller than other temples but has its own style of architecture. and the temple has a unique story behind it which you’ll need a tour guide to explain it for you, in addition to the champers and levels of the temple.

I guess one of the very few sites which is free to enter. It's an active archaeological digging site. Therefore, you can't walk into the sites But, you can walk along the road to have a good look. Try to find the Greek inscription on the bodies of the two big statues.

As with most sites in Luxor (both East and west banks) get there around 6:30-7:00am and you’ll have it to yourself. Most places open at 6am. Additionally, if you arrive early- all vendors are still closed - no hassles from people trying to sell you anything. This is a free site, no tickets required.

This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited and certainly one of my favourites in Egypt; it’s absolutely stunning. Very well kept and is definitely worth the trip, it’s a must see when you visit Egypt. It’s truly jaw dropping, eye popping and majestically gorgeous.

Great to tie in to other tours such as the Valley of the Kings. There is not too much to see other than these two statues, and be prepared as usual that of course you will be pestered by some salesmen with their statues etc. There are two giant statues here to see, no entrance fee. There is parking and an atm nearby.

As with most things in Egypt it was breathtaking! Definitely some pushy sales people but the police kept them in line so it wasn't too bad.

Free to visit and view, these gigantic sculptures of Amenhotep III, the father of Akhenaten, are all that remains of his mortuary temple. The one on the right has been reconstructed in antiquity while the left-hand one is standing strong after three and a half thousand years of exposure to wind, sand, sun and water. The statues are on the way to the valley of the kings and make for a pleasant rest stop, there are some vendors, and a store selling snacks and drinks.

It's amazing that such incredible monuments are just at the side of the road. Badly damaged by time and men they're still convey the greatness and power of this ancient and misterious civilization.

West of Luxor on the way to the Valley of the Kings there is an extremely important archaeological site of Pharaoh Amenhotep III with two massive stone statues. These two giant fascinating statues are called The Colossi of Memnon (Arabic: el-Colossat or es-Salamat). They are two massive stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, which stand in front of the ruined Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III, the largest temple in the Theban Necropolis. They have stood since 1350 BC, and were well known to ancient Greeks and Romans, as well as early modern travelers and Egyptologists. The statues contain 107 Roman-era inscriptions in Greek and Latin, dated to between AD 20 and 250, many of these inscriptions on the northernmost statue make reference to the Greek mythological king Memnon, whom the statue was then – erroneously – thought to represent. In Greek mythology, Memnon was a king of Aethiopia and son of Tithonus and Eos. As a warrior he was considered to be almost Achilles' equal in skill. During the Trojan War, he brought an army to Troy's defense and killed Antilochus, Nestor's son, during a fierce battle. Nestor challenged Memnon to a fight, but Memnon refused, being there was little honor in killing the aged man. Nestor then pleaded with Achilles to avenge his son's death. Despite warnings that soon after Memnon fell so too would Achilles, the two men fought. Memnon drew blood from Achilles, but Achilles drove his spear through Memnon's chest, sending the Aethiopian army running. The death of Memnon echoes that of Hector, another defender of Troy whom Achilles also killed out of revenge for a fallen comrade, Patroclus. The twin statues Colossi of Memnon depict Amenhotep III (fl. 14th century BC) in a seated position, his hands resting on his knees and his gaze facing eastwards (actually ESE in modern bearings) towards the river. Two shorter figures are carved into the front throne alongside his legs, these are his wife Tiye and mother Mutemwiya. The side panels depict the Nile god Hapi. The statues are made from blocks of quartzite sandstone which was quarried at el-Gabal el-Ahmar (near modern-day Cairo) and transported 675 km overland to Thebes (Luxor). The stones are believed to be too heavy to have been transported upstream on the Nile. The blocks used by later Roman engineers to reconstruct the northern colossus may have come from Edfu (north of Aswan). Both statues are quite damaged, with the features above the waist virtually unrecognizable. The southern statue comprises a single piece of stone, but the northern figure has a large extensive crack in the lower half and above the waist consists of 5 tiers of stone. The original function of the Colossi was to stand guard at the entrance to Amenhotep's memorial temple (or mortuary temple), a massive construct built during the pharaoh's lifetime, where he was worshipped as a god-on-earth both before and after his departure from this world. In its day, this temple complex was the largest and most opulent in Ancient Egypt.

Often visited ad part of a trip from Luxor to the Valley of the Kings. Good restoration done given state these were found it. Free to visit...which as you will find out is rare for Egyptian monuments and temples! 🛕

Definitely worth a visit. It is just a short (10 minutes) stop and it is free of charge. Statues are truly colossal, they make a glamorous composition with a mountain background.

Plan about 15 or 20 minutes to stop and get photos of these statues when you are in the Luxor area. It’s a popular stop, so it gets busy and the parking lot is small. There are some stairs down to the base of the statues from the parking area. Restrooms are available. There is no entry fee.

Few statues but great historical background from Troi from the Aquiles fight that killed the prince and myth of a whistler that sounds like a son. Also, the Nile, when is flooded can reach the base of the statues, that why the black color on the button. You can only go in front of two statues, so should be a short visit from around 20min to take pictures, read some sings but nice to see big statues quite close!

Very informative and has good coverage. Best part is the Museum is designed in such a way that you can cover everything without getting lost. It has a huge collection of antiquities. I truly loved it. The cost for entrance is LE 140.

Cute little museum, much better labelling and information to read than the Egyptian Museum. Some cool statues, you could spend a lot of time here if you are interested in learning about Egyptian.

Well-laid out museum which is just the right size - not too large and tiring, not so small that you feel you didn't get enough. Hope the new museum in Cairo will be laid out like this one.

A well set-up modern museum. Without a guide you can do this within 2 hours, each piece or section has written details in English and Arabic. We came here late in the day and there were very few other people so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Some really good statues in great condition and some mummies. Interesting to see the contrasting styles between the first and middle kingdoms - idealised and realistic facial expressions (respectively). Also, the depiction of Amenhotep IV who changed devotion to Aten rather than Amun - a blend of male/female characteristics? Anyway, if you're coming here as part of a package then all the tickets and parking will be sorted for you. If not, best of luck, I have no idea beyond the tickets were about £40.

Interesting! This museum is not the largest. Probably 30-60 minutes is fine based on what your interest level is. As you first go in there is a ‘presentation’, I had read that it was interesting but it turns out this may have changed. Instead we walked into some kind of workshop for young people! So skip that! The main museum consists of several artifacts from the Ancient Egyptian era - some have signage explaining what they are and their history. Some do not, which is a shame. The highlight for me was the two mummies within. You can get gruesomely up close and see these 3000 year old mummies - fascinating! It is worth noting that many of the exhibits have braille for increased accessibility. I probably wouldn’t bring kids unless they are really into it. They’ll like the mummies and a few of the caskets, but it’s not interactive or child friendly really.

Outstanding museum! We visited just after a 9am taxi ride and it was wonderfully quiet. Unlike some others this museum goes for quality over quantity. The exhibits have space to be seen and enjoyed. The Luxor cache section is excellent. So good to see treasures discovered at Luxor temple displayed in the city rather than being dispatched to Cairo or beyond. We stayed for 80-90 minutes and learned a lot. Highly recommended

A lovely museum to visit, but don’t expect an extravagant exhibition. Still recommend visiting. I spent about an hour here, came after 5pm. My hotel organised a taxi and I paid extra for him to wait for me - happy I did as came solo so better for safety. Staff nice and guided me where to go and what to specifically check out.

Great display of antiquities in a well organized museum. It took us an hour to see all the displays. Most of the antiquities have an informative piece of paper.

Walking through the Luxor Museum was like a journey back in time, each artifact whispering tales of my incredible ancestors. Seeing their achievements filled me with immense pride. A must-visit for anyone seeking a connection to the glorious past.

Great, great museum. We were extremely tired after 4h30 in Karnak and then Luxor + Mummification Museum, but despite that we loved the world class collection magically exposed. The mummies exposed, all the artifacts of the Tel El Amarna (Akenathon) period, the amazing sculptures... Not to be missed, at least one hour of pure beauty

Be sure to visit the cachet room. It’s right as you enter the museum on your right. Nicely air-conditioned, and very well organized with a huge variety of artifacts as well as mummies.

It’s a small yet very rich museum, it has a collection full of beautiful pieces, totally worth visiting.. the whole tour would take around an hour, everything is neatly displayed.. it is open from 5-8pm

Small museum with a couple of mummies worth a visit if you want to kill an hour or two and avoid the afternoon sun. The range of artefacts is a lot less than the museums in Cairo

Our key highlight of the trip, it's a very well maintained museum with all the key findings from Luxor & Aswan along with two mummies as well.

Breathtaking talent can be seen in the details of the statues and monuments. This museum is small, but you can spend hours surrounded by history and the stories of some of the men and the woman who ruled in Egypt. With the right Egyptologist as your guide, it will feel as though the rulers and servants of Egypt live on, through the statues to keep their stories and memories alive. Bathrooms are clean, and there is an attendant.

Lovely, clean and well organised museum will lots of very interesting and excellently displayed pieces. Staff are helpful, there's a little shop and cafe, calm atmosphere. It's open until 9pm. Card payment only for tickets. Just so you know the Tutankhamun pieces have been moved I believe to the GEM in Cairo, I was aware of this already but others were disappointed. However it's well worth a visit.

The museum is small but it has a lot of interesting artifacts. The building is very spacious. The artefacts are displayed beautifully. There are 2 mummy at this museum.

Nothing really special to be seen here. Not in any way the same as the national museum of Cairo. It has some nice artifacts any a couple of mummies but that's about it. You can easily leave this museum behind.

Nice museum. Small but full of history and knowledge. It takes you to a good trip discovering ancient Egypt. Full of treasures and it’s much organised than the Egyptian museum in Cairo.

This was amazing place, it is renovated and tells alot about the history of luxor at the era of rhe middle and new state and how it affect the history of the city in the ancient ages, The museum open also at the night time from 7 to 9 pm, so you can make it your night walk at luxor. I think it will take 1 hour to your visit.

A small tomb made famous by Howard Carters discovery of boy-king Tut Ankh Amun's sarcophagus. Today everything has been removed from the tomb and moved to Cairo with the exception of the actual mummy of the young king. There is no gold coffin, however, only the mummy. It costs extra 300EGP on top of the ticket price to visit the tomb. In my opinion its not worth it. There are more spectacular tombs in the valley of the kings that can be accessed for free.

The presence of the mummy in this tomb makes it a special one as it is impressive how well preserved it is (black and dry, that's true, but some details are still in place). For a dollar or two, the keeper can take a close photo of his face... if you want such a memory... Oh, speaking of money. To visit this tomb you'll have to pay a special ticket (that was the equivalent of 8$ in Egyptian Lira). It is a rather small tomb compared to the others, but the paintings on the walls are very well preserved and tell different stories than the others.

A tomb that is a “must visit/must see” in the Valley of the Kings, but be aware that access is very limited and you will need a second ticket for entry. It is best to buy the ticket for Tut’s tomb in advance, if you can for that reason. It’s the smallest tomb in the Valley, but very beautiful to see. It was the only tomb found intact, and many of the artifacts from his tomb are on display in the Cairo museum. (They will soon ALL be in display at the new GEM museum when it opens near the pyramids) King Tut’s mummy still resides in the tomb and is very interesting to see. Like most tombs in the area, it can be hot in there and can get a little crowded sometimes, but since they control the number of tourists in the tomb at any one time, it seemed less crowded to us than other tombs, and we were able to get good photos. Plan on 20 to 25 minutes to visit and take time to appreciate the artwork.

This is the most famous tomb ever discovered in the Valley of the Kings, a place where I have dreamed to arrive since I was a child. It is preferable to be visited in November, almost in autumn more than in spring, not in the summer. I went there in the beginning of October and in the middle of the day the sun was very scorching. Here must be paid another entrance ticket, this is not included in the three tombs ticket of the Valley of the Kings.

King Tuts tomb located in the Valley of the Kings contains the body of the King and beautiful Hieroglyphics. One of the many must see tombs in the Valley if the Kings. Unique scenes including baboons which symbolize birth, death and rebirth.

We needed need buy a special ticket to visit the Tutankhamun tomb. The tombs are numbered KV62 is Tuts tomb. What is really cool is that his mummy is in there! The tomb has four chambers. At the entrance there is a staircase and corridor like most of them. The mummy is inside a glass case, but the tomb is mostly empty, everything else was removed. The items found inside Tutankhamun's tomb are displayed in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo, and at the Luxor Museum.

Big surprise, to be honest! Didn't expect much of this tomb bit it is small and beautiful, and so important Im glad we visited on the end. Basically this is a rip off tomb (300 EGP) but a nice thing to visit for Luxor Pass bearers.

Nothing spectacular as it is just one chamber with well preserved wall paintings and the king who is not that famous throughout history, but famous simply because its tomb was found unintacked. All in all not worth the 300 EGP to go inside, unless you are real fan of the small kid king.

Entering this beautiful tomb is an extremely special experience for us. We can imagine the delight of the people who participated in its discovery. All that brilliance (we later saw all the treasures found in the tomb in the Great Egyptian Museum in Cairo) leaves us breathless with immense admiration. The craftsmanship of all this is so beautiful that it makes these objects timeless: even today they seem so fresh and alive, even though they were made 3300 years ago. Tutankhamun's tomb is the first in the history of modern archeology to be found sealed, and that is why its discovery is extremely important for us. It is estimated that it is about 3,300 years old. It was the first time that archaeologists had the opportunity to see an ancient Egyptian tomb in its original state, with all the treasures that the ancient Egyptians used to see off their rulers. Many of the tombs of the rulers in the Valley of the Kings, the necropolis thanks to which archaeologists have most of today's knowledge about the nobility of Ancient Egypt, were looted before modern archaeologists could even find them. Who was Tutankhamun? Tutankhamun was the 12th Egyptian pharaoh, initially also called Tutankhaton, from the 18th Egyptian dynasty. He ruled from 1334 to 1323 BC. Kr. in the period called the New State. His royal name was Tut-ankh-amun Heqa-iunu-shema Neb-kheperu-re. Tutankhaton was his original name, because of his association with the Aten, the sun disk, and means "Aten is the life of Thoth." He became pharaoh when he was between eight and 10 years old. He is thought to have been the son of Akhenaten, who was also known as the "heretic king" because he abolished polytheism and introduced the cult of one god, the Aten, and the worship of the Sun circle. Tutankhamun is important because he reversed many of his father's decisions - he again allowed the Egyptians to worshiped the old gods and rebuilt the damaged temples. He was married to the half-sister of Ankhenamon. It is assumed that he was 17 or 18 years old when he died. How was Tutankhamun's tomb discovered? The British archaeologist Howard Carter, writes in the diary, went to Luxor at the end of October 1922 , in the Valley of the Kings, in search of the tomb of King Tutankhamun, who was known from previously found hieroglyphic writings. Excavations began on November 1, and in just three days, Carter managed to find the tomb. Only 27 reached the room with the sarcophagus November, after almost a month. "The scene that greeted us we could neither see nor imagine until then", "We were amazed by the beauty of the object, which exceeded everything we could imagine - we were overwhelmed by the impression", wrote Karter. In the tomb was found 6 carts, 4 ceremonial beds, 130 staffs and a huge amount of necklaces and other jewelry. But the real surprise was hidden in the funeral hall, where Carter found 4 chests, laid one inside the other and inside the last one was a stone sarcophagus with 3 anthropoid sarcophagi, also laid one inside the other. The last one was made of pure gold, and inside it was the pharaoh's mummy wearing the famous golden mask (today the most famous object from Tutankhamun's tomb), and all this was in a pure gold coffin that he himself had over 110 kg. The total contents lay in two more large wooden coffins which were themselves covered in gold and diamonds. Finally, a beautiful red quartz sarcophagus served to house it all. M However, the great mood due to such a discovery was soon spoiled when the British Lord George Herbert of Carnarvon, who financed the expedition, died. The story was pumped through the newspaper headlines, and the information, although incorrect, that 22 members of the expedition died, started the theory that Tutankhamun's curse is catching up with those who disturbed the peace of the pharaoh.

Robbers entered the tomb twice in the years immediately following the burial, but Tutankhamun's mummy and most of the burial goods remained intact. Thus, unlike other tombs in the valley, it was not stripped of its valuables during the Third Intermediate Period (c. 1070–664 BC).

Fabulous to see the famous site - although very small and less ornate than others in the Valley of the Kings.

This is a tomb you want to see only if you absolutely want to see tutankhamun's mummy. Otherwise, you can totally skip it. The tomb does not have much to offer. It is very small with a huge price tag.

Google lists this site and many tombs as separate from the Valley of the kings but it's a single site with 1 ticket booth for all of them. You need separate tickets for the biggest and most famous tombs (not all are open at any given time) and then your default ticket allows you to visit 3 of the less famous tombs which you can pick. The site itself lacks charm and is entirely given over to tourism, but the tombs themselves are just incredible. Wear good walking shoes and come with your knees ready for lots of stairs.

Amazing Karnak Temple, one of the biggest sites in the world

Avenue of 3kms that with good weather, you can see Karnak temple. If you have time and energy, you can walk all long! This, is included in the ticket. There is also a boat on the middle so you can take pictures there.

A very long walk, better to get a taxi if the temperate is above 30 degrees. Barely any sphinxes so you won't miss out on much.

Avenue of sphinxes ramheaded is located at the entrance to Karnak Temple. A unique complex of statues looks well-kept and majestically. Visit and enjoy! This location is always overcrowded so it's a real challenge to take a nice picture here)

This year number of monuments is impressive. So glad we were able to see this. Love being here and learning. Having a tour guide is so worth it!

The avenue is not that big as the other one, but in its real light back in the day it must have been quite impressive. Nice entrance to what you could be expecting later on.

Absolutely amazing... Nearly 3 km Avenue connecting Luor Temple to Karnak Temple. Thousands of Sphinx lined this avenue. Newly reopened to the public. Walk the avenue.Avenue..

The avenue is at least 2 kilometers long. Many pedestals are empty. But there are not many people, you can take a quiet walk.

The entrance to Karnak first takes you down the Avenue of the Rams. It's amazing to think how long ago these were carved. Worth spending some time looking at them and the detail that still remains.

The temple has a great atmosphere and many drawings are very well preserved. There are still small temples on the site that are from an older time. So far the largest paintings I have seen in Egypt. The site has a toilet with cafe and is also suitable for wheelchairs. What is unpleasant are the sellers who try to sell something here particularly aggressively.

Best preserve temple by Egypt. Spent about 30 minutes. A good tour guide will make the visit very interesting.

Huge temple complex. Wheel chair access to most important places. Be aware that local men will offer to take a picture of you next to a statue.. etc, but afterwards wants a tip. This was an experience all over and at every historic site. Best to smile and say no thanks.

One of the most interesting treasures of Egypt and one of the most pleasant to visit. Here too the pigeons begin their destruction and the police ask for tips. There are rooms closed to tourists to certainly protect the paintings but open to pigeons?

No words can describe that place. The best of the best. The temple contains alot of ancient monuments and great recording of ancient civilization. There are alot of scenes to take pictures there and every time you visit you will feel that you see it for the first time.

A wonderful ancient Egyptian temple with many hieroglyphics and the story of the battle with the sea peoples. It's well preserved and even has some original colors on the walls.

This was by far the best we visited in Egypt! Not very many people and it is just as grand and historic as the other sites. Bathrooms and places to eat across the street. Plenty of street vendors selling souvenirs. A lot more relaxed visit. Enjoyed it!

They could make this show so much better. Its interesting to do, but the projection is not very good. They should have a much better screen and imagines to project, considering what is possible.

The site is absolutely magnificent! Walking through those monuments at night is an experience. However the lighting is poor needing significant improvement to improve the show. It is really a big let down by that. For the price to see the show, it is significantly overpriced, and would not be something I would recommend as a tourist myself. I am therefore puzzled why there are so many recommendations here. Not sure they are entirely genuine.

I really didn't enjoy the show, very poor show, storytelling is not good and i thought that there will be more action in the story and the light effects, i really don't recommend it, such a waste of money, the only good thing is walking among karnak temple in the night that's all, i am sorry for such review but it's true they need to upgrade the show more.

The sound was too loud that we couldn’t understand,, the lights were too dark that we couldn’t see. The sound and lights didn’t have a math with each other. It was so bad and we understand nothing.. it was a waste of time and money.

I would never recommend the light show to anyone. This is overpriced for what you get and the light show is very basic. While I can give points for the story of Egypt history and great sound, the light show is very basic. You do not have time to really enjoy the beauty of architecture in the night as the light is one for less than 10 seconds. Where they keep it longer is not for something important... and the only interesting lighting set is at the lake when the arrangement will mirror the site in the water. Prices for adult: Light show 300 Egyptian lira (aprox 1h) Day visit 200 Egyptian lira (open until 5 pm most days) Be aware to take coins or Egyptian lira if you need toilet (€1 or 20 Egyptian lira) During the English show they give walkie talkies to people not understanding English so not sure why they do not do this during Arabic show. Slow pace and we were jammed in like sardines. We left half way through, many folks were visibly (and verbally) frustrated trying to jockey for a good vantage point. Selling lots of tickets may be good for the vendor it drastically diminishes the experience for the visitors. If you go to the Karnak Temple Complex with a good guide during the day the evening story is redundant.

The sound and light show do is a bit too old school. Although the surrounding temple is one of Egypts wonders to visit, I wouldn't buy the rather expensive tickets for the show a second time.

Very well designed light and sound show. Instead of just sitting and listening, you'll be walking through the temple as part of the show and then finally sitting to watch the rest of the show. One down side, too many dogs coming along with you and following you all through the show.

Beautiful tombs, few people! These tombs were in great condition and were very well preserved However a little bit too much hustling. The tomb keepers were super pushy around showing you around, as well as to “closed” areas and then demanding tips. Also you need to squeeze through super tight spaces, so not useful

This used to be the workers' village. You can see the remains of the houses and a few tombs is people who were not royal but rather ordinary people. Still, the tombs are quite interesting to visit.

Amazing tombs of the workers that built the valley of kings and queens. They are colorful and vibrant. Be sure to tip the tomb guards, they deserve it as they work in harsh conditions!

This was the village created for the workers. Fascinating and the tombs for non-royal worth a visit. Nothing can compete with Valley of the Kings but still recommend checking this out. having a guide would also be beneficial if you come here.

Don't pass on visiting here! Our tour guide gave us this as an option and we decided yes. The best choice ever! It was one of my fa orite places to visit. He suggested it and noted it was one of his fa irises. A true gem as its beautifully preserved and full of color. It's where many common people lived and shows how 'normal' Egyptians once lived. That was amazing to see how close the homes were, literally atta he'd to one another like boxes assembled for a fort. The in and out of the buried tombs could be a bit challenging for some to enter. A lot of ducking and bending is necessary to scale through. I'm tall and did not have a problem but my friend found it difficult ult and claustrophobic; to me, well worth it. Don't let that stop you! The most magnificent preserved colors in all of ancient Egyptian relics.

It's definitely a must do while you're out here in Luxor City period there is so much hidden beautiful history. Highly recommend getting a TOUR GUIDES, it will enrich your entire experience by 25x. Otherwise you're just walk you around guessing what these symbols and pictures mean.

This site was not nearly as busy as Valley of the Kings - parking lot appears to be smaller, keeping large tour buses from being able to access. The grounds are in great shape with beautiful tombs. The passageways were much shorter than Valley of the Kings and the color in the tombs was much brighter. Definitely worth the visit if you have a bit of extra time.

The tombs are worth the visit and the climbing of very steep stairs if you can physically do it. No good for anyone with bad knees and back. They are in excellent condition and absolutely beautifully made ❤️

The worker village shows the tombs of those who build the royal tombs in valley of the kings and queens. Wonderful depictions of the daily life. The village itself is also very well preserved including a small temple.

Well maintained Definitely worth visiting as it shows how the pharaohs and kings used to plan for their deaths. Very hot in summer so make sure you stay dehydrated. Some of the graveyards seemed exceptional large and colourful. A lot of history (albeit much of which is not positive at all) can be witnessed here.

Incredible. Walked up without a guide. Each tomb clearly marked and described. Lots of info online so really no need for a bad guide so unless you hire one that comes highly re commended I suggest enjoying at your own pace.

Amazing to see how they have done 4000 years ago. For $12 you can visit 3 tombs but special tombs cost extra. My top tombs 1. SETI I it cost $30 bugs extra but totally worth it and you can skip rest. The amount of work is 10x better to others so why not spend when you came all way down here 😀 2. Ramses V and VI it cost $5 but again worth it 3. Ramses IV and XI are part of general ticket and very good

Of course, this is a must-see location in Egypt. Home to many of the kings of Ancient Egypt including Tutankhamun. There are several tombs which can be explored. Three of these are included in the ticket price, all Ramses. Out of the three extra optional tombs, we only visited the Tutankhamen one. Here you can see the only remaining mummy. It is well worth seeing. Note that inside the tombs there are always locals willing to give you the ‘pictures beyond the rope’ for a few notes (10 dollars or something is fine). Bring some small change if you want this. There is a place for a snack and drink at the top, and a small shuttle that will save the walk up the valley (40 Egyptian dollars). Tombs are quite humid! I recommend getting a guide. They’re very affordable and knowledgeable, saving a lot of stress.

Goes without saying that you must visit if staying in Luxor. The tombs are incredible to see in person. Each tomb requires quite a few steep steps to navigate with varying depths. The colors are rich with fine details throughout. While Tuts tomb is popular, it was the least impressive of those I saw. An incredible experience overall.

Better visit the place in the cooler months. You can avail the facility of golf cart but walking down the street will be better if it is not too hot. Very beautiful site, must include site while visiting Egypt.

The tombs are magnificent, you should not only go in and shoot pictures, but also enjoy the magnificent environment, the magic from the stories told about the afterlife. Many symbols found remains in actual religions. You should carefully watch the scenes, the 12 hours of the night, the wonderful art they created.

Well preserved tombs, unbelievable experience of valley of the kings and the cultural past. Unfortunately for us, it was hot as hell in the tombs and literally felt like a sauna but well worth the trip down memory lane!

Some king tombs are very deep, some have very steep slopes. It is very stuffy and hot inside, plus very dusty. You have to buy an extra ticket to enter King Tut's tomb. Don't forget to wear a mask and take plenty of water and an umbrella with you.

A place that you must visit when you come to Egypt, but be prepared. It is a popular tourist destination and bus loads of tourists are constantly arriving, resulting in long lines at each tomb entrance. Expect to wait 20 to 30 minutes to enter, 15 or 20 minutes (often standing in the hot sun) to enter each tomb that you want to see, and about 20 minutes or more to tag along in line behind everyone else to walk through the tombs. It is also very hot inside some of the tombs. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and take plenty of water with you. Consider wearing a hat or carrying a small umbrella. Guides are not allowed inside the tombs, but if you hire a guide it is very helpful as they can explain each tomb and its inhabitants very well for you. Also, (very important!) if you want to see the tomb of King Tut, access is very limited so buy your tickets in advance. Plan on at least 4 hours here or more to see as much as possible. There are restrooms available and a small store/cafe where you can buy snacks, water, or other drinks.

The valley is not spectacular, but what's buried underneath it is amazing. Once Pyramids weren't built anymore, hidden tombs were placed in the hillside. Some of the tombs like Ramesses V And VI are excellent examples of tomb art.

Impressive place! One ticket gives you access to visit three tombs of your choice. Except for the tomb of Tut Ankh Amun. With this one you need a different ticket. It is like a sauna being inside the tombs and it can get busy especially when people stop too long while taking pictures so be prepared!

A truly amazing place!!, We visited Rameses I,III, IX, and of course, the boy King's tomb where we stood 3ft from Tut himself. The landscape is awesome, and the detail still visible in some of the tombs is ... just WOW!!, and when we visited you could take photo / video

Highly recommend! Really well preserved and maintained tombs decorated with traditional scenes from mythology and reveal clues to the period of afterlife beliefs. Almost all of the tombs seem to have been opened and robbed in antiquity, but they still give an idea of the opulence and power of Egypt's pharaohs. Take a bottle of water with you and explore!

A pair of remote valleys in the dessert devoted to the burial of Pharaohs, decorated with elaborate inscriptions and adorned with treasures (mostly plundered) where the mummified bodies were laid to rest. Spanning 2,000 years of Nile history. And now you can see it for yourself.

Tombs are beautiful. More can be done to preserve them well. Though, the management around the whole archaeological site is terrible. Everyone is begging for some tip from you, from the guy behind the ticket counter to security guards at individual tombs, it's ruins the whole experience. Also, be prepared to pay ridiculous prices at the only cafe inside the site area, carry your own suppliers otherwise.

Something that you have to see to believe, the entrance to the tombs can be very steep and stifling hot once inside so wear light clothes and plenty of water , also make sure you are fit enough to undertake- be careful of the hawkers on your way back to the entrance to the park

A place probably known to everyone who was even a little interested in history. It's nice to be there, although it's not as spectacular on the outside as the temples of the queens. Several tombs are available to visit in the ticket price. For the more famous ones you have to pay extra. I was there in December and the weather was beautiful for sightseeing. It must be hell there during the summer months because there is no place to hide from the sun.

One of our highlights of Egypt. We went inside 4 tombs and each one was unique. 20 pound note to take tram up to mountain. Tombs are withing walking distance of each other. Really nice to see the colors and details.

Fabulous Seti 1, Tutankhamen and Ramses III! Seti 1 and Tutankhamen are considered premium tombs and there is a higher fee. Don’t let the higher fee deter you from visiting these two. Totally stunning the work that went into these tombs, also be awed by the wealth, power and exploitation of the slaves you did the grunt work.You are allowed to visit any three of the tombs on standard ticket.

We have been to King Tut tomb and saw the mummy it’s dark skin they had to burn to take the golden mask off, King Snefro as well; colors are amazing still in good condition good, atmosphere surrounding you in mystery and magnificent atmosphere, makes your brain wondering what was going over there that time! Very highly recommended; I would call it valley of secrets and wonders.

Spectacular location, the mountains are incredible and of course, the tombs are incredible and it's a truly amazing feat of ancient engineering and art to see!! See them all, some are quite steep so the climb back up can be a challenge but worth it! Pay extra for Ramses and Seti!

Incredibly interesting and a must see! We paid extra to go in to Tutankhamen’s tomb. You have to be quite fit and able to go down in to the tombs, it’s a lot of steps and quite warm. Definitely pay the extra 20 Egyptian pounds to take the buggy and save the massive walk.

Fascinating tombs of some of the pharaohs. Many are very well preserved and there is beautiful decoration on the walls and amazing scenes from the kings life. Tutankhamun's tomb contains his mummified remains in a hermetically sealed casket. It's amazing how these were dug into the hills and concealed. Even more amazing how these were discovered.

My experience in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor was absolutely unforgettable. The sheer grandeur and mystique of this ancient burial site left me in awe. Walking through the valley, surrounded by towering cliffs and golden desert sands, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of reverence for the history and culture that surrounded me. Exploring the tombs of the pharaohs was a truly humbling experience. The intricate hieroglyphics and vibrant murals painted on the walls told stories of a civilization long gone, yet still so vivid and alive in that moment. Each tomb was a testament to the ingenuity and artistry of the ancient Egyptians, and I felt privileged to be able to witness it firsthand. One of the highlights of my visit was the tomb of Tutankhamun. Although smaller in size compared to some of the other tombs, the richness of its artifacts and the well-preserved nature of its decorations made it a truly remarkable sight. Overall, my visit to the Valley of the Kings was a profound and moving experience. It’s a place that truly transports you back in time and allows you to connect with​⬤

There are 16 tombs open to public of around 450 discovered. Unfortunately there is no map so it is difficult to navigate around. Usually there will be a guy who will meet you at the parking and offer to show you around (for a tip), which we accepted and were quite happy because it saved us a lot of time. We saw 6 tombs of which Sennofer was very interesting. You will probably have the tombs all to yourself as this place is very little frequented.

It's OK, but very pushy local guides who try and tell you that you must have a guide. One guy even locked a tomb we had paid for and demanded money to open it. Only a couple of tombs worth seeing, but very cheap to get in, so worth a visit if you can say 'no' to the locals.

Ancient Egyptian Cemetery for the nobles and Grand Viziers of Ancient Egyptian Kings with amazing drawings and carvings showing how it felt like living back in those times.

Most people skip this due to lack of time. There is no ticket office here, tickets need to be purchased at the antiquities office at the main junction a km away. I recommend these tombs as they are unique and beautiful. There is a fair amount of walking and uphill climb. Ticket Entry 60 egp makes it totally worth it. There are two tombs you get to see 1. Rekhmire - the drawings and inscriptions give you great idea of Egyptian life, gifts from Europeans, Construction of tomb and a party scene. 2. Sennofer - tomb of the vineyards as the ceiling is covered in paintings of grapes. It is a tunnel down and very low height at some places All in all it will take you 40 minutes to see this. Please note the tickets for this is available at a separate ticket office nearby not on site.

We had a very peaceful and lovely visit to the tombs. There are 2 sets of tombs each with its own ticket. 1 set is for T96 and 100. Very beautiful. 2nd set is for T55, 56, 57, with many interesting things to see. The gate keepers show you some of the interesting figures and help to light up the inside to see better. Give them a nominal tip and they are very happy and appreciative.

Visited with luxor pass for free. Not one of the best sites, glad I didnt pay but I suppose it would be fair value for money as it is a big site with lots of tombs. Personally I only visited four tombs, the best ones were Ramose (by souvenir shop) and Sennefer (further up the hill on the left).

Quite an interesting site to see smaller tombs with more everyday scenes depicted. We visited after having seen the Valley of the Kings and I think that's probably the right order. There was essentially nobody here the day we came so that was a really nice change. You have to buy tickets at this other place some distance away. Our driver knew about it. You pick which tombs to visit and get tickets to those one by one (most tickets include 2-3 tombs, all small). The downside is that each tomb has a guy who checks tickets and each guy wants to come in with you and explain stuff and get a tip. It's not like at the Valley of the Kings where you just get your ticket punched. It ends up being kind of a lot of tips if you're visiting 12-15 tombs, which you can easily do since each is small. I'd still recommend this site though if you have time as a nice change from the very crowded sites.

The tomb of Rekhamira and Sennefer are the most interesting and beautiful in the valley after the king Seti 1 tomb because it depicts the life of normal egyptians at that time. I am giving 1 rating only because the guards are too annoying and irritating with the broken information they have (perhaps for some money) and don't let the tourists appreciate the marvel themselves. I wanted to spend 15-20 minutes in the tombs but was irritated just after 2 minutes although I gave him a good tip to be quiet. It's a very bad culture just. I will be happier if these guards are paid decent salaries and are trained not to bother the tourists for some pennies. All the tourists will be happier to pay an increased ticket price rather than this mess which is too annoying.

Not close to being as popular as Valley of the Kings, these were the tombs for workers who actually built the tombs in the valley. In other words, the credit probably goes to them. I somehow believe the work we see here could've been their experimentation before doing the royal version.

The place is quite big , it has place for dogs, cats, horses, donkeys and all others pets & animals. They are large group of vets from all over the world. A charity between Egypt and The united kingdom since 20 years ago. They’re professionals, they came up with the diagnosis in less than 15 mins after doing the examination and taking care of wounds of our beloved dog. Thank tou Dr. David for your kindness and the nice way to treat animals and the humans too.

It's really an amazing job that this organisation does, for the animals that it helps and also for the community. Many people rely on horses and donkeys for their livelihood, and ACE helps care and educate. Also cats, dogs and tortoises too. They also create jobs for the local community too. Please try and visit/support this organisation, the work they do is wonderful.

Heartwarming. Shown around by a very knowledgeable staff member. They do incredible work, provide free vet care, educational services. They arrange pet adoptions for puppies and street dogs. We left feeling humbled. They exist on donations and compassion for animals. They are amazing. A must visit if you are in luxor.

They explained us carefully about how the institution was funded and how they operate. What a wonderful place! ACE is a one of a kind hospital/shelter for animals in Luxor. The crew working there are so helpful, professional, passionate about what they do and so friendly! The place is well organized and clean full of happy animals, even the sick ones, because they are getting the help they need! I loved this palce, the kittens and the puppies! The horses and the donkeys!

ACE animal care in Luxor is amazing - they are doing great things. We showed up annanounced for a visit and were taken on a lovely tour of the facilities by a friendly volunteer. They take excellent care of the animals there and it's reassuring to know there are compassionate people in Egypt looking out for the welfare of animals.

This animal care center does amazing work to improve the quality of life of often badly exploited local animals, in particular horses and donkeys. They gave us a great tour and we could visit many horses, donkeys, dogs and cats thst are taken care of. Tears were shed. If you feel sympathy for animals, make sure to visit and support this place!
