One of the most beautiful gardens I have been to. 1. Easy access to the park. 2. If you're a SA citizen make sure you carry your ID for local rates 3. So many fun trails to walk through 4. The pathways are easily labeled so it keeps you on track 5. There are a variety of places to find your ideal meal. The restaurant/ tea garden or Vida 6. The gift store is beautifully laid out and the prices are reasonable 7. It has some of the most beautiful views I have seen.

After several days of experiencing the sights, sounds and culture of the southern Cape area we had an unscheduled day. A group member suggested Kirstenbosch Gardens and I am so glad they did. We entered at the low main entrance and were greeted with an array of Bonsai trees. Moving into the gardens the mountains emerged over the flora and fauna. We walked the paths gaining and losing elevation to see the various plants. After 2 hours we decided to go for the tree canopy walk on our way out. This was amazing and a great way to end the day.

Such a magical place. This experience is something else something different. Amazing and unique. So peaceful. Simply the best place to spend time in nature. A great day out with the family to pack a picnic and relax in the shade under the trees. We missed it, but I would highly recommend going there and finishing your day with an open air cinema at Kirtschenbosch Botanical Gardens. Check the dates.

We went there to experience the boomslang bridge. It was a beautiful walk over the canopies with magnificent views of the mountain. It had benches along the bridge to stop and admire. For older folks, the walk to the bridge is slightly uphill but well worth it.

If you’re a nature lover then this is your spot! Beautiful mountain peak and love the green scenery in the park. The park is located just about 15 minutes away from Cape Town City Centre. There are many different kind of flowers/plants, great walk/hike place with beautiful scenery. Nature at its perfection. It’s a great picnic spot. The park has some great eateries too for breakfast/lunch/brunch that serve great food, coffee and cocktails. Highly recommend it.

Unique experience, definitely bigger than I thought it was. You can easily spent up to two hours here if you'd like (maybe even more). Lots of benches and grass, you can picnic here if you like. Do keep in mind that there are no rubbish bins in the park. The park has sooo many botanical species. Of course the best time to visit would be during blossoming season. The view of the mountains in the background makes it a beautiful park, not to be missed if you're spending days in Cape Town

Magical. A must see. Truly spectacular natural beauty. Walking, picnic. Lots of open spaces with perfectly kept lawns. Kirstenbosch National Gardens was fantastic - even in misty and rainy conditions. Unless it's pouring down, you can still have a good experience, just pack waterproof kit and an umbrella and closed shoes (and whatever else you deem necessary). We packed a picnic but there is also a lovely restaurant. So many beautiful plants to see! Tranquil and beautiful!

The fact that this botanical garden is a part of the world renowned "Magnificent Seven" alone should speak to how impressive of an experience they offer. They have a very vast collection of botanicals that can easily take 3-4 hours to explore it all. I particularly enjoyed giant mountains that casually sit right next this garden. Together it makes for breathtaking views that I've never experienced elsewhere. I highly recommend visiting here if you ever find yourself in cape town.

What a way to really experience God’s wonder work. This place is a real garden of Eden in a concrete jungle. It’s an experience to behold. Considering the weather was just perfect on the day, the garden is clearly well maintained and our tour guide was well versed about the flora; I would high key recommend any lover of the outdoors to visit the botanical gardens! Tip: wear sneakers, because wow! Lots of walking, a good way to get exercise!

You could spend a whole day at the gardens! The landscape is amazing, and throughout exploring the grounds you get breath taking views. There are maps available to help you navigate around the gardens, as well as specific walks of varying difficulty that can be undertaken and are well sign posted. We went when the weather wasn't too great, but I can imagine it being amazing to have a picnic and just relax. Definitely worth visiting if in Cape Town!

This place is great for unwinding. It is the biggest botanical garden I have experienced so far with lots to see. Tea restaurant offers love food and it's cozy. We also went through an art exhibition which was showcasing amazing artworks of SA talent. There are plenty picnic spots. The mountain view, the gigantic trees, the flowers. Walking trails was Fun. They also offer guides for groups. Clean space to clear the mind ..

A must do when visiting Cape Town. Absolutely stunning. It's a massive botanical garden, so you could spend hours there. It's a beautiful place to visit to spend time with family, learn about local history and enjoy remarkable views. Expect lots of walking. You can go on your own or take a guided tour. Definitely make time for this place on your trip to Cape Town. I recommend going in the morning when it opens, ahead of crowds and the heat.

this places is a gift from god. If you love nature you will fall in love badly with this place. It is a huge place but so wonderful to explore. They have an open air concert space where singers like jeremy loops perform. A lot of places to eat and drink. Very clean and wonderfully taken care of. A nice souvenir shop at the entrance to get a few things. Loved every minute. Highly recommended. On the beautiful edge of the mountain range.. Loved it.

As far as botanical gardens go, I haven’t been to too many. This one focuses on the natural beauty of the landscape versus sculptures or man made gardens. It’s very pleasant and relaxing to walk through the gardens and sit and take in the backdrop of Table Mountain and the Twelve Apostles mountains. We were here in June and most of the flowers were not blooming since it is the winter season. It was still worth visiting. You can spend anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours and feel satisfied.

Kirstenbosch Gardens were just amazing. I joined the free tour with Cathy Jenkins. She is very knowledgeable and pleasant. I arrived at 10h00 and only left at 16h00!! It was amazing to sit and enjoy the views and garden. The birds and insects. The wind and scents. I loved the whole experience.

Fantastic destination if you want to see a more natural side of Cape Town. In lieu of clouds over the mountains decided to go here for a hike/walk. Did the contour loop and was not disappointed. This botanical park is quite large and features a canopy walk that offers stunning views. Our guide kindly dropped us off at the top, and we enjoyed a leisurely stroll down to the Visitor Information Center. There are numerous trails to explore, and plant enthusiasts could easily spend hours here. We visited in the late afternoon, so there were not many people around. The canopy walk is particularly impressive, providing breathtaking views of Devils Peak. I highly recommend this park to anyone visiting the area.

This is a must see if you are in Cape Town. The views alone of the mountain along the expansive trails is worth a visit. We went on a Thursday and many times on the trails we were the only ones for a long stretch. I highly recommend checking out the tree canopy walk, stopping for a lunch at the tea garden, and taking the higher trail paths for spectacular views. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and block off a full day to really enjoy the space and enjoy all it has to offer. If there is wind or if you are staying into the early evening, bring a light jacket or sweater if you get cold easily.

The gardens are breathtaking, and we were lucky enough to see a spotted eagle-owl while climbing the steps to the tree canopy walkway. This is one of the most beautiful gardens I've ever seen 😍 if you're a nature lover please visit the place to see for yourself! The mountains 😍 But do make sure that you put on some comfortable walking shoes as the place is quite big. The garden is well maintained and honestly one could just sit their the whole day just to admire the mountains and the garden. Absolutely stunning views from the plants, to the mountain to the boomslang bridge, enjoyed the hike through the gardens as a form of exercise. To work up an appetite to walk across to the side where there are restaurants and even a small gallery with beautiful portraits from talented artist of natures leaves. I personally enjoyed Moyos with a beautiful view of the mountain. They also have discounted entry prices for students.

One of most beautiful gardens I had seen. Surrounded by shades of green, there are several routes to explore. Walking around without following the map can lead you to the unexplored areas of national park. Guided tours are offered during the day. Great place for a picnic, hike, walk, practice yoga or even just to relax. Restaurants offer a wide variety of options for all tastes.

Always an awesome place to be. You get to cheer on the rugby teams with various locals. There's a great 'vibe' to it. Sad to see it being destroyed by the end of the year, so get there soon to experience a real South African, especially Cape Townian, culture. It's an enjoyable place for all ages.

The Newlands-Stadium is a bit old and is not the technical highest one but it's still a authentic stadium. You get food and drinks there and in general everything that u would probably need during the game. The stuff helps you to fine your seats and everyone was nice. There are defiantly better stadium but when you visit a rugby game it's not really about the stadium. So I still had a great time.

The energy of rugby fans is unbelievable, stadium itself is well equipped seats are decent depending on the amount you pay. I enjoyed watching roughly 5 games during the season and each one was amazing. I can utterly understand why people buy season passes as watching live is completely different than watching live from home. Alcohol is served throughout the game at a bar inside the stadium as well as snacks can be bought from vendors.

The signage for where your seats are is really bad so it was difficult to find out seats. A lot of people seemed confused as to where they were seating which made the first 10 minutes of the game hard to see as people were in the way the whole time .

Not been to Newlands for ages and was very impressed recently when attending a cricket game. While parking can be a bit of an issue, access to the stadium was slick and smooth. Lots of food options, bathrooms a-plenty (but please provide enough toilet paper, and don't close the bathrooms directly after the game...give us a chance to pp before the long walk to the car). Good security, clear signage, comfortable and easy.

There was only one eatery open, resulting in long lines most of the time we were there. Suggestion would be that more establishments need to be opened at such events. The seating need to be cleaned more often. The cricket game we watched was the best part of the experience.

My Anyhoo's....it's been a while since I've been to Newlands, 9 years to be exact. And I must say that it's not the Newlands I remember. The seats were dirty, they had old massive signs stored at the back of the seats. Two food stalls open, toilet paper didn't get replaced in the ladies room...I was quite taken a back and a disappointed. The president's suites were spotless though...😒😏 the least they could have done was clean the seats...So 👍...and Until next time...😉

We had parking at Groote Schuur High School and the guards knew exactly where to direct us. It's a short walk across the street and into the stadium. The only annoying thing was a pair of Palestinian supporters who were shouting and waving their flag before the entrance. It was annoying because we came to watch a cricket match and not to be dragged into whatever the politics of the day is. Luckily we got passed them quickly and into the stadium. The atmosphere was festive but tense as it was SA vs India. Made it to the President's suite and it was beautifully decorated. Everyone was friendly and the bar service is excellent. The catering is good but lots of carbs, definitely not for the health conscious. The desserts were divinely prepared. We had a lovely time.

Nice food counters , electric atmosphere with a good sound system . Attentive & responsible staff. Remember to not to take any metallic items in a bag ( drop even deo , sunscreen ) .

You will never guess how much technology and effort goes into making your favourite refreshment. The helpful guide takes you from the beginning through the factory and bottling process. The whole process takes less than 45 minutes and there's a tasting afterward so best to make sure you have someone to drive you home. It's not wheelchair friendly

The best beer in SA, they do a wonderful Pale Ale called Jacobs. This beer would of got 5 stars but sadly not available in many bars in Cape Town area and hardly any bottle shops stock it. So while in CPT we came to the brewery to get take out, but sadly they dont sell to the public.😢

Went on the 26th August, from me and my partner, this is one of thee best things you could do. Mostly down to our amazing tour guide Andile, he was not only the most informative representative but also super friendly and inviting. I give him and SAB 5 stars, all of them just brilliant. Learnt so much and I almost couldn't believe just how efficient this place is. This tour is absolutely must for beer enthusiast.

Clean trails and felt very safe. Experience was good. The hike itself is pretty hard for a beginners with lots of trail runners. This trail is free for for all however parking can be a issue if you start late.

Starting point for a large number of trails. Actually all of Table mountain is connected so you can basically walk from anywhere to anywhere. This side of the mountain is densely forested. Which is amazing given that the other side is only low fynbos. Going alone is not recommended. The trail markers are almost non-existent, so best to go with someone who knows the path. There is no real danger of if getting lost. You can check google maps satellite view to find a way out if lost. This is one of the most popular hiking points in CT, so finding parking can be a real headache. You can park by the side of M3 and walk.

The forest is pretty cool. Lots of diverse paths for different difficulties. Seems like it would be great to look for mushrooms. It would be advised to go to the lavatory before you go there... The latrines are public... Anyway, this would be a great place to take a lover/friends for a walk or picnic if you really wished.

Newlands Forest is the most convenient way to experience the wonders of Cape Town's outdoors. The trails are relatively flat, with some variety by choice. Parking is easy and plentiful. There are lots of dogs, families, trail runners and mushroom hunters. I recommend going around sunset for the beautiful lighting which shimmers through the canopy of the pine trees.

Beautiful little trail. It’s a very easy walk so great for little ones. Theres a public bathroom that’s mostly clean. The little Greek trailer has really great coffee! There are several path options, most of them really easy, a couple thicker ones. It all looks very kept. We had a good time

Beautiful, tranquil and extremely humbling when you consider that these hiking trails exist because barefoot Khoi San and heavy booted Dutch settlers blazed these trails centuries ago by driving cattle over these paths to graze over the mountain, and there I was suffering while wearing extremely comfortable Nike's and shorts that promote testicular ventilation. I'm definitely bred for the life of comfort.

A place where the myriad of little forest trails lead you on a new path every time. The indigenous forest trees offer lessons of nature and peace of mind. It's dog friendly and a perfect place to adventure all year round as there is plenty of shade in the summer. A few access routes to the saddle between Devil's Peak and table mountain start here as well as the fire fighting services headquarters.

I walk my dogs here daily and I love the different trails, water features, and peace Newlands Forest brings me. Preferred time is between 10am - 3pm when it's quiet. Peak times vary: 8am & 4pm. Really busy with dogs, walkers and runners

So many great trail options including hiking up to the contour path... Lots of hiking groups on a Saturday morning... You need to be mindful of some of the mugging areas but if you're part of a group you're much safer... Take care when hiking alone or with your partner... You can hike, trail run or mountain bike... There are a couple of great spots to get coffee or a cold beverage... The date balls, koeksisters and espresso are great😋😋😋... There's also a cool spot at the entrance to do pullups or a mini workout 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

A very beautiful and peaceful place. The restaurant is cosy with a warm atmosphere. There is an art gallery, fresh produce, shops with many beautiful handmade items and a charming nursery.

The restaurant was lovely and breakfast was delicious. Just a pity the parking is so difficult. Surely after all these years, they could level the ground and make it easier to get in and out. Most cars are so low, that cars get damaged while trying to manoeuvre out. It's also a very busy place, so parking could be improved. The security were very helpful.

Quaint place with a very wide variety of shops/stalls. Be it art, crafts, jewellery, decor etc. there’s bound to be something that catches your fancy. As with most things in Cape Town though, it is tourist focused and not always so friendly on the local pocket. But if you’re not in the mood to shop, strolling around the lovely nursery and it’s many little greenhouses is also a wonderful pastime. The Gardener’s Cottage restaurant also offers a range of meals from simple tea and scones, to more elaborate burgers and more. Enjoy a glass of wine or cup of coffee under the camphor trees or sit inside where it’s more cosy on the windy days. If you want a little bit of everything and a fuss-free day out, Montebello is a good place to try.

I've been to Montebello a handful of times and upon my last visit was to shocked to see the state of the toilets. For the price of art and goods on the property surely management can invest a few thousand to sort out the ablution? It really put me off as a new spot I introduce to friends for coffee.

I live quite close by and absolutely love to have coffee there, wandering around, chatting to the artists, also the tranquil space, the trees, the sound of the birds, the shade, the art and creativity. I am however disappointed that one of the vendors play music from a speaker in front of his shop as I so specifically seek out the peace and quiet of this lovely area. There is so much noise in the world out there - having quiet is so valuable in itself.

Newlands swimming Pools is a very nice place to take a quick dip or spend the day at with beautiful green lawns and a jungle gym for the kiddos. Clean changing rooms and well kept bathrooms. It is currently R9 for adults And R3 for children under 16.

Virtually always closed even though it's summertime. No opportunity to get exercise or enjoy this magnificent pool. Closed for renovations for a few years only to be unavailable. Is it corruption, mismanagement or incompetence. It's open sporadically I hear, though not sure when. How sad!

What a gem! The Olympic size pool is amazing and sparkly clean without stinging your eyes; the temperature was 22' the day we went. The diving boards have not been restored yet so that pool is not in use, but the rest of the facilities are brilliant. Lovely big lawns for family picnics, the bathrooms and showers are clean and well maintained. All of this with incredible views and only R9 per adult! It's a pity the opening hours are quite restrictive: only 10am-5pm meaning a pre or post work swim is not possible, but it's a great spot for the weekend.

Newlands swimming pool does not allow kids who aren’t quite swimming yet to wear arm bands or use pool noodles. So they are literally confined to the baby pool. It’s the most ridiculous rule I have ever heard. I fully understand no giant unicorn floaties but no arm bands? Ridiculous.

Check the blackout schedule before you swim. They close the pool and turn away visitors when there is loadshedding. It might not be open when you think it will be. EDIT: Staff close the pool during outages because the computer in the ticket booth has no UPS (nothing to do with the pool pumps). It could so easily be remedied by installing an inverter and small battery, but reportedly the City doesn't want to spend the money. Besides that, the renovated pool is clean and pleasant to use for a very modest fee, as it should be. It is overstaffed by life-guards. There are no lockers or facilities to secure one's belongings. The deep pool is currently closed, and sadly the diving boards I remember have disappeared.

Never have I ever been as disgusted with the service as today! I stood in line with my family since early morning but we were turned away because they were "at full capacity" but there are people coming out and saying it's still empty inside. Never has this happened in all my years of coming here. Ever!! We've been here for 5 hours and still outside!! The service is appalling!!! The staff was going allow us access but then the story changed again. So many people were turned away after being here for many hours. I cannot relay how disgusting the service has become as it has never been this way. If I could rate it negative 5, I would have. Very disappointed customer that will never go there again. UPDATE: They have now closed the shutters whilst people are still standing outside. Families are now apart from each other because of promises made by staff. Disgusting behavior and very unprofessional!!

The pools are really clean and it's also very spacious, if you have a big family that's coming there. The place is huge with lots of seating area and trees for shade, though I do wish that there was a Indore shop incase I had to forget anything I could just buy it there rather than going out to buy anything. The lifeguards and security are very friendly and does there job to a 10 rated way, in my personal opinion. But other than that I would over all give it a 5 out of 5 .
