Great attraction. The wait is pretty long on the weekend so I would suggest weekday. The views are amazing. It got a bit cloudy going up but wait it out, it'll clear up. Make sure to wear comfy clothes. It gets a little chilly up there

This was such an amazing experience for my kids. They loved everything about it. The lift, the incredible views, the cave, the old school kitchen and toilet, the statue... I mean everything. They offer different prices for natives and foreigners. Depending on the day and time of the year, you may have to wait in line a little, but, I promise, it will all be worth it!

Views are amazing if you are driving a rental or coming you dont need any person in a green polo taking you up. You are good with just taking yourself up. At the top there is a hike on the top that takes you around the area to show you the water falls, typical Dominican house of the past, and natural areas as well. Also the shops at the top way over charge like 20+ dollars for things that are worth 3 dollars else where. Always bargain.

As of November 10th the cable car is closed for the next 5 months you'll have to take a taxi to the top instead the views are spectacular botanical garden is awesome really good photo opportunities all over the top of the mountain

Hermoso. So beautiful! The cable car ride is highly recommended! Getting to the top and enjoying the beautiful gardens is a must! There are many ramps for wheelchairs and walkers! Lots of magical paths to get lost with nature. Very cool art displays throughout. The guides are really knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. There are souvenir shops and carts to get ice cream, cold drink, or a snack. Have fun!

Crazy views and the high altitude was amazing, breath taking. I love the Statue at the top of the mountain. I glad I went when it was cloudy but I want to go back to see when it is not.!!

Amazing ride to top! Beautiful tropical area with lots of paths, a traditional kitchen, pond, and observation areas. We spent 2.5 hours exploring the area. A lot cheaper to buy tickets on-site versus with a tour.

Very Very cool bring hoodie or light jacket . Rain and sunshine every 15 minutes at top of the Mountain...lol Lovely place. Beautiful flowers nice to walk around. Be careful. I did not use a guide waste of money. If you take pictures under the statue near the gift shops Do not let the parks people tell you they get paid from you.

Loved the experience, it costs 550DOP for a round-trip ticket and one way takes about 8min. On top the view is amazing. Inside the dome beneath the Cristo statue are shops. You can also do the entire area in about an hour if you want to see everything. I highly recommend

Be aware that the men with green shirts outside do not in fact work for the park. One approached us when we arrived and told us that he worked for the park and would be our tour guide. He said we needed a guide and made no mention of fees additional to the park fee. There were hardly any other people there and they all had guides so it seemed believable. He rushed us from sight to sight at the top, but did take some photos for us. Then he demanded an additional 550 per couple for the tour. It was only then that we realized that he didn't work for the park. If we had understood that we were paying extra for him we would have approached it differently and had a better time. Yet, the mountain is beautiful and the cable car has fantastic views, so all in all it was a great experience. Just be aware that you will pay more if a guide attaches themselves to you!

Nice affordable activity to do with your family. Once at the top, there is a spectacular view and you can walk along the paths through the gardens and to the caves and lagoon. I gave 4 stars because the directions to these sites are really not very specific. It took us a while and many wrong turns before we got to the caves 🙃🙃🙃

Nice cable car ride to high peak where Puerto Plata city and ocean can be seen. Beautiful walk to see gardens. Vendors thought are slick, so be careful. Price is $10 US per person.

I was so excited to be able to go on the cable cars this trip. If you are going to the top for the view, definitely go in the morning. It gets cloudy in the afternoon, this trip was an afternoon trip.

We waited and hour but it goes by quickly; there are seats, huge fans and a music band. The view of Puerto Plata from the cable car is beautiful and worth it.

Teleferico Puerto Plata is a great experience. It is not just about getting quickly to the point where you can enjoy amazing views of the Puerta Plata, the sea and so on. That is one side... The ride takes 6 minutes The thing which quite often is not mentioned is the park on top of the mountain, nice, clean, full of attractions like plant tunnels, love bridges and most importantly the nature.

The cable car ascent offers a breathtaking journey surrounded by lush greenery, providing captivating vistas that seamlessly blend oceanic and mountainous landscapes. An awe-inspiring experience for nature enthusiasts and those seeking panoramic beauty.

Very nice place that is well kept up. The staff is there for you. The animals here seem to be well treated. It a full family fun day. Bring a bathing suit even if you are not swimming with the dolphins. Lots to do and see. Don't forget to visit the love bird cage. Pools and water slides for all ages.

What an incredible experience, and we have been to Discovery Cove in Orlando.. but this was a more intimate interaction with the dolphin, and the staff was very friendly and made everyone feel comfortable in the interaction. Bonus, my granddaughter who's 2, was able to be with us this time. The snorkel part is small and limited but worth it. We got to interact with the sea lion, which was so much fun. The beach area is awesome, and so was feeding the birds. The best part was that it wasn't crowded and food, drink selections were plenty.

Visited Ocean World while on a cruise excursion. To be honest the main reason we visited was for the Dolphin Encounter. This was an amazing experience and we were extremely happy we did this. The rest of the park is very nice, clean (including restrooms) and offers several shows and animal exhibits.

We came with an excursion group from the Carnival Cruise line. Carlos was our tour guide, and let me tell you that we struck the jackpot with him. We needed assistance for one of our friends, and he took it on with a smile on his face and a skip in his step. This was no easy feat considering the terrain of the park. The comradery that the staff had with each other made the visit even more enjoyable. We did the dolphin, shark, and sea lion encounter, and I loved every bit of it. The day went by so fast. I would have loved to have done more. The park is just the right size to explore with a family that has small children. If you forget anything, their shops are well stocked with all the essentials and prices that are fairly priced for a last-minute buy. You can not take pictures during the encounters, but the picture package is really well priced, and it's nicer to have a professional taking them so you can just enjoy what you're doing. We got the package that had all of the pictures and a video. It was around $100, and there were 3 of us who were able to share the cost. We really had a spectacular day, and we're able to help a friend check something off her bucket list.

Had a really fun time. Sea lion show was the best. Cute little man made beach inside and my kids liked the water slides, which I heard you have to pay for but we did not have to pay. Maybe because it wasn't crowded. Did not care for the lunch though.

This place was awesome. The best part from our trip. I can’t wait to come back April 2023. Very clean, animals taken care of, staff there for you and are very knowledgeable. We had an awesome tour guide. Love him to pieces. Ariel Polanco very kind person and very knowledgeable of his island and ocean world. A different and wonderful adventure for all family members. You are going to want the "near and touch with Dolphins" package, it is not cheap, but worth the money, with this you even are going to give food (small fish alive) to dolphin 🐬 For Dominicans the entrance cost about $40 USD for adults and about $30 USD for kids below 12 years old. The package "close encounter with dolphins" (the most probably is that you are going to want to buy this optional package) have an extra price of about $60 USD for adults and $40 USD for kids and this is the most incredible experience at all in this place. The cost of the entrance includes one lunch, from 12:30 p.m to about 2 or 2:30 pm, but WARNING! they DON'T give you any water or drink for free, YOU HAVE TO BUY ANY DRINK OR WATER for an extra price inside. They have about 3 stations for drinks inside, they also have alcoholic drinks, beers, cocktail 🍹 and soda 🥤. The prices for those drinks are average, about $2 USD for a bottle of water 💦 of 12 oz and about $8 USD for a cocktail 🍸 like "piña 🍍 colada" or about $$6 USD for a beer 🍺. They also have inside an artificial beach ⛱️ (small, more friendly for kids) hamacas, seats for beach 🏖️ with umbrella 🏖️, Aquarium ♒ , seat Lion shows, swim with sharks (extra cost) and pools. The best time to arrive is 11 am and they close about 6 pm. It is recommended going in weeks days because is less crowded. Note: The Dolphin 🐬 water is salty and in the close encounter with Dolphins package you are going to be inside this water (not your head, only your body until chest) and this water look a bit dirty and smell a little bad. Finally, says that all the staff are so nice 🙂

I had an amazing time here at Ocean World . There was something for everyone to enjoy. The marine life and shows were cool. I especially like hanging out on the beach on both the water floats and then chilling out in a hammock with an island drink. Lunch served was delicious. True island spices. And of course, their souvenir shop was wonderful with a large array of gifts and specialties.

I loved every minute of this place when I was in vacation. There is something for everybody to do and a huge variety of shows, immersion experiences and other activities to do. They have a water park with slides, inflatable climbing things, a scuba diving tank that is free to do!!! best experience I have ever had and my dream of swimming with the dolphins came true! I would 10000% go back again if I could.

Fun interactive park, you are able to enjoy the animal in their environment. Each show occurs every 15-30 minutes . You pay your entrance fee but you are able to book individual time to encounter the animal . Recommend for all age group

I signed up to visit Ocean World last minute through Norwegian Cruises and regret nothing. Our guide Alex couldn't have been any better. Kind, relatable, and really patient. Ocean world has a different vibe than other aquatic venues. You can really tell the staff loves the creatures they care for and really care about the experience the customers have. I didn't participate in any experiences other than feeding the love birds and watching some of the shows. The love birds were cute and the shows were all amazing. BEAUTIFUL location. I could stand there and stare out into the ocean for hours. And the beach area was perfect for spending time relaxing. Could not have had a better time with a last minute decision ever!

Ocean World Adventure Park in Dominican Republic. A must see if you have kids. The good: - Seal, dolphin, shark and bird shows through out the day. - A giant swim tank where you are allowed to swim with the fishes and coral. (pictured) - A live interactive aviary with hundreds of birds you can feed and take photos with - Pools and man made beaches for relaxing, although, we didn't use that at all. - a 3 story water slide. - very friendly staff. The not so good: - Food was very sub-par; but this is a water park with marine wildlife, not a restaurant.

This was one of the most affordable excursions offered on our Carnival Cruise to this port. I wasn't sure what to expect, but we absolutely loved it. It is very clean, offers clean restrooms, and my tween daughter and I loved the snorkeling and the dolphin show. My teen daughter really enjoyed the innertubes on the beach and I loved that the umbrella and chairs were included in the cost. The beach area is nice, and the bus drive was air conditioned and only about 10 minutes from the ship. We did not do any of the extra activities they offer for an additional fee, but we had a wonderful few hours here and had zero complaints. Highly recommend!! We ate before we went but they do offer a meal for $18.

I absolutely love this place! Family with kids recommended! Also, family without kids will love this place. There is so much to see and experience. Great shows with dolphins. My kids love shows with sea lions. Sharks show was great experience too. Swimming with dolphins is the best memory! Snorkeling and see a lot of different fish. There is so much more to see and enjoy!

One was very friendly. Love the dance when we was entering. I enjoy the sea lion, the dolphins and the sharks. The trainers was very awesome. The only thing I did not like is I could not get my pictures. I've been trying to email someone to get my pictures and haven't received any answer yet. Back from anyone. I read the rules and it said I only had 20 days to receive my pictures. Will love to get them really. Enjoy myself

We paid to do the dolphin encounter. It was great! The trainer really allowed us to get up and personally pet, hug and kiss the dolphin. Either do thus or the dolphin experience, here you swim with them. Gift shop was lacking. 🤔 There are great things for kids to do, water slides, slides lagoon, trampoline and other fun activities too plus great beach around lagoon. 😀 The buffet that is offered is a real let down! Plenty to do to enjoy for the whole day.

I almost had the place for my own but it was a Monday so maybe. Nice park with shows every half hour, shark, Se lions, and dolphin's the best show by far the dolphins. Big park good for kids there is also this man made beach with Waterpark and food buffet included nice pool for the kids and young adults. You we'd to be in some good shape to do all the steps and bends Don think it suited old people. overall good experience

Best experience of our entire cruise. Did the doplin swim and let me tell you it did not disappoint! We got into the tank with the doplins and had them swim by us so we could rub their bellies and backs. We then got to "dance" with them, hug them and they gave us all kisses. The trainers also had the dolphins sing happy Birthday to my son which was awesome.

Truly a life long experience... Wonderfully kind staff. Paula was truly amazing.. kind friendly and a gem. Def a experience we won't forget. The exhibits and the shows the snorkeling and so on was a memory my wife and I will forever cherish. I would so love to be back some day

Wonderful experience at a stunning location. We had time there on a cruise and had the shark experience booked. It was amazing, definitely a bucket list type thing. We also saw the dolphin show, enjoyed the included lunch, and chilled on the beach. All facilities were clean and tidy and the staff were excellent!

My family and I had a great time at Ocean World. We swam with the dolphins, snorkled, spent time at the beach and it was a great time. The trainers were very informative and helpful. Overall, the facilities were very clean. The buffet wasn't all that great but food was edible. We purchased an excursion here through Carnival Cruise Line. 10/10 would definitely recommend Ocean World to anyone. My kids age 10 & 12 loved it!

Went here on an excursion from RCCL. The place was great. Lots to see and do for all ages. Nice shops. Ac and shade available in case you get too hot. The beach was crowded, but not full. The place seemed clean and the animals looked in great shape

From the shuttle from our resort to the location itself, we had a great time. The dolphins, sea lions, sharks, macaws, etc. Everything was incredible. The kids giggled the day away. We had an amazing time and highly recommended it. The water slides were down for maintenance but that did not deter the amount of fun we had.

We had so much fun at Ocean World! We did the sea lion encounter and it was very cool! There are a few different encounters to choose from and different scheduled shows you can watch. We also loved feeding the Love Birds and seeing the macaws and toucans! Our guide was fantastic; he was funny, enthusiastic, and very friendly.

Great experience. I drove to the place and bought my entrance for about 750 peso (RD) which is about$13 (USD) which came with a guide and a meal. Guides are great. I lost my phone in the first fall and it was found underwater and returned to me later that day. Out of the 27 falls we only did 4 even though the front desk stated 7 were available, kinda unfortunate but its worth the experience even with the 4 falls. Go check it out!!!! Trust me on this bring your own water shoes,they have some for rent but you will be happier with your own.

A must see! If you like adventure and water park, this is a right place for you. So many jumping, sliding and walking in water. We visited the 7 water falls, and it was enough. The round trip took 2 hours. The parking slot is safe enough to leave your valuables at the car. There are lockers available as well.

We booked this excursion reluctantly because some reviews we read stating the hike was very difficult. It is not! The guides pause several times at key points to allow you to rest and breathe 😜We couldn’t be happier that we did it! If you go, spend the $45 for your private photog to tag along. If you’re lucky you’ll get Luis! He was the best!! ❤️

Amazing and fun experience. Unfortunately, only the 1-7 falls were open, due to the rainfall. The falls themselves were where fun. The water was very nice and we some really nice colors. I forced myself to jump off into the water (you can take stairs if you don't want to). But after a few attempts, I managed to jump off the rocks into the water, it was well worth getting over my fear of my heights. Additionally, you get to slide down some really cool natural waterslides. One of the guides offered to take videos and pictures with my phone, which i appreciated. (Of course a tip was expected and given).

What a fun experience! My dad has been trying to get me to come for years and it’s worth the hype. We did the offer for zip lining and 7 of the falls. It also came with lunch included and was a very fair $48/person. I will say, if you bring pesos, they charge just slightly less! The zip lining and falls were so fun, the guide and the camera man (we paid $70 extra for a person to come with us on the excursion who takes pictures and videos nonstop and they provide you all the media on a flash drive for us) were hilarious and really helpful. There was a 50 min hike to get to the activities but honestly, it is so worth it particularly when you jump in the water after sweating so much! I definitely look forward to returning and doing more of the falls! My only complaint was the food which was the food which was not the best. The fried fish was over salted and had too much crust, and the chicken was dry.

I have friends that visited these charcos years ago when it wasn't built up and you were doing this at your own risk. Now they have a nice area to park, lockers to store your things, a gift shop, simple but clean bathrooms with showers, and a lunch room. You can do buggies and zip line. We did the 7 falls. You do need a bit of stamina to go up but there are places to stop and rest if you need to. You should just have a disposable water bottle because at a certain point you have to throw your trash away because you'll be jumping, climbing, sliding down. I decided to bring my phone after our guide (Nelson) promised to keep it dry (I didn't have a waterproof phone pouch) and let me tell you, Nelson protected that phone with his life! He only had a black plastic bag, wrapped it up, and didn't let it touch the water at all. Nelson was great! TIP YOUR GUIDES! If you are nervous, you can take ladders down on every waterfall. Most have a jump and a slide. If you don't want to do all 7, you can pay to stay at the bottom and wait for the rest of your group to come down. You need water shoes with good traction that you can rent there. If you go during the week, you don't wait to go down at all. The water was cool, the views were wonderful and we truly had a blast. I will be coming back.

We had a lot of fun in doing this, the guides all make strange noises, some like birds which is cool but ours made baby noises which were just annoying to be honest, the hike up was good but then comes to a dead stop and you wait for a good 30-40 mins to actually get into the water which you can do by jumping of or climbing down a ladder, then you feel like cattle being hearded the rest of the way but it was still super fun once in the water, you slide down rocks faces and jump of platforms. It was cool to experience once.

The waterfalls are really cool. Our teens loved this adventure. It costs $10 US or 500 DR Pesos per person for a guided tour of the falls. (Way more $$ if you do a cruise ship excursion) That price includes the life vest and helmet. We paid an extra $2 US to rent shoes. They also have a zip line and buffet that are separate. Good bathrooms, showers were available. The guides knew enough English to explain the waterfalls, but a little Spanish is very helpful. There is a restaurant and buffet at the visitor centers

The waterfalls and traveling between them are so beautiful! Unfortunately I cannot rate perfect because of the situation. I booked a tour on a cruise ship - the description was “40 minute hike” and “ not for faint of heart”. Since I am not faint of heart & I’ve hiked 40 minutes, no biggie. Ha! About 20 minutes uphill then 20 minutes downhill (very steep) with a LOT of stairs was really rough. Of course the water felt great but based on the description we were expecting maybe a big pond with waterfalls to play in. I enjoyed the experience but being out of shape, wished there had been a better description. So absolutely beautiful though!

Great Views in this place you can see Puerto Plata and the shore from here , great walk to see some local flora and fauna you can either walk go by car or take the lift i recommend the latter is over all a great experience

Breathtaking views. My first time in a Cable Car, AMAZING EXPERIENCE. Especially considering it was my first time out of the country. Definitely can’t wait to go back and visit again!! One of the highlights of my trip!

Amazing views. We ended up driving rather than taking the cable car. Steep road but rental car had no problems. Make sure to make time for the trails.

Amazing location for adventure and photos. Friendly staff and overall experience was breathtaking. Going up to the mountain, you will need a good vehicle with a big engine such as a 4X4 because the strain on the engine as the altitude increases.

The highest view I've been to in a while. The air was thin and it was cold but the view was amazing. Try and stop by one of the shops and get some of the Mamajuana!

Nice place, wonderful views. There are a lot of art projects displayed right now. Tickets cost us 2 $ per person. They offer audio guides. Very nice experience.

I visited Fortaleza de San Felipe back in June 2023. Provided with an English-language audio guide, I learned the full history of the fort and surrounding area. Besides history, part of the fort is an open air gallery featuring the photography of local artists who won the contest POP Me Hace Sonreir hosted by Puerto Plata Ashonorte, the tourism council of the area. Another incredible exhibit inside the fort are the Primicias de América en República Dominicana (American Firsts in the Dominican Republic). This fun national project document early settlements, buildings, places of worship, and events that took place during Spanish colonization of Hispaniola. Unfortunately, not all visitors can access these exhibits. Like many old forts, this building is only accessible by stairs, and no ramps are available. Audio tours come in Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, and many other languages, but no written equivalent is available. The inside spaces of the fort are dark and cramped. Frequent pictogram signage reminds visitors to mind their heads. All written signage was in Spanish and used plain language. The restrooms were super clean and monitored, a surprise bonus. Tickets were $400RD (about $2US) and include the audio headset. This is another not-to-be-missed spot for history lovers visiting Puerto Plata.

This place is really neat. It only cost $1.00 USD to get in and walk around. Nice views of the harbour and sea. Just a nice piece of history to enjoy for about 45 minutes or so. Lots of local peddlers around trying to sell their wares. I love chatting them up and buying a few trinkets.

This is an old historic fort in old town Puerto Plata. It dates back to mid 16 century being built for several decades as a protective fort for the Spanish crown colonies. Despite that, it was conquered several times by the pirates who looted the city. In 19 c it was used as a prison for independence fighters and one of the inmates was Juan Pablo Duarte, father of the nation, and there's a room dedicated to him inside. Fort is pretty small yet interesting, offering scenic views. Entry fee is only a couple of dollars.

Great place to visit for historic site of Puerto Plata and see the strength of this country and its development through centuries. Take a taxi and visit with your family. Entrance is only 2$ and they give you free audio guide that’s included. Great view. Great experience.

We had a delightful time visiting this beautiful area. The history is fascinating and of course the sea is amazing. My only caution is that the people who have the little tables up selling their wares are very, very aggressive. It makes it hard to enjoy the scenery because they will not leave you alone.

A piece of Dominican Republic history where you can spend a couple of hours to learn about it. The views are admirable. If you are coming to Puerto Plata on a cruise ship, this place is not too far.

Enjoyed the small audio tour. It was $2 USD to enter and well worth the two bucks. Definitely recommended for anyone visiting the area.

Really cool to see and learn about amber. The fascinating shapes and colors, with all different animals and plants fossilized inside. Luckily the tour is quite inexpensive. The tour was private, but quite rushed. They charge exorbitant amounts to buy any jewelry. Still really cool and original. Great for a quick 1 hour stop.

I thought the building was cooler than the museum. The small amber bits in the gift shop for sale were ridiculously expensive; if they had small $20 chunks, unpolished or whatever, I'd have bought a few and I figure other people would have too. I actually only saw one person in our group buy anything. I mean, they said in the museum that they use it in the churches for incense, surely they aren't burning $200 pieces of amber, are they? If so, I have a source for incense that smells better, is half the price, and burns easier.

The museum is situated is a very beautiful house with lots of interesting artifacts from Dominican Republic and the tour guide was very informative showing everyone around! I enjoyed it but I didn’t necessarily find it to be as interesting as maybe other people would but it’s still a good place to check out if you’re into learning about the local artifacts!

Nice to see and understand how the amber is extracted. Very expensive, however, to buy a little souvenir. Quite frankly, prices have raised ridiculously since the Jurassic Park movies.

We enjoyed our tour of the amber museum and learned a bit about tobacco production/cigar making as well. There's a very nice gift shop with local cigars and amber jewelry as well. The tour is informative, inexpensive and a nice respite from the heat.

Definitely add this stop to your list! We popped in while at port on a cruise and had an awesome time. Such a great learning experience. If you can, get Lis as your tour guide - she is the sweetest soul and knows how tailor a tour experience to guests.

We were their first guests that day and we loved being there in the early morning. Our guide was so lovely. Beautiful place, we got to learn so much more about amber. We went to the amber museum in Santo Domingo but theirs is even better since they take you through the whole journey from the amber mining to the jewelry and art made out of it. I totally recommend it. It is close to everything too and was walking distance from our hotel.

As a major cruise port in the Dominican, the Amber Museum is set up with international tourists in mind. The guided tours are given in English, Spanish, and French. The second floor is accessible by elevator. The rooms are dimly lit for ambiance, but this makes some artifacts difficult to see. The gift shop is expensive and sells jewelry, cigars, and coffee, another recent Jimenes family purchase. The tour guide wore a coffee company shirt and seemed new at his job. While he followed the script exactly, he did not yet have the confidence or knowledge to answer additional questions. He also appeared to be the only employee in the museum at the time and would have benefited from a mentor.

This place was the highlight of my trip. It was so fun and such an intriguing look into the culture and history of cigar making and the Dominican cultures' pride in creating quality tobacco and cigars.

This is a museum that houses a privately owned collection of incredible amber pieces. This museum provided the amber that was used in the movie Jurassic Park. Steven Spielberg bought the amber piece that had the insect that was used to extract DNA for the dinosaurs, and the museum got the right to use the Jurassic Park style logo

This review is more of what is outside of the Amber Cove port than what is in it. We went to the “public” beach you can see right beside the port but not reach. The beach is okay but know that is up to a 20 minute walk where you be asked many times by Taxi drivers to take you there. Once there you WILL be harassed every few minutes to buy stuff. It got so bad we left after a while. Drinks are good there but price on menu is not always their price. Green chairs are free. The port is nice though offering free pool, shopping, food, and more. I was excited for this port but left disheartened. However, keep in mind your port days are what you make of them. For this stop, I recommend taking an excursion. This is a beautiful area if away from towns! For this reason alone I am giving it three stars and not less due to not sure how to pin that beach.

This is a very nice port. There’s a huge shopping area, pool, and a kid friendly area as well. If you want a good (shaded) spot, get off as early as possible because it fills up fast. Overall it’s a nice budget friendly way to spend a port day.

Great place awesome ambience! Comfortable to relax and sunbathe but also fun for the kiddos. Has 2 slides that were $5 each unlimited and a zip line that crosses the place. Gorgeous views, for amazing pictures and the coolest little houses to rent in the water for a more private experience. Clean and comfortable bathrooms. Staff was very service oriented. Only got to experience the pool area but it has a beach area that looked amazing. Shops were full of an awesome assortments of souvenirs.

This is an absolutely beautiful place with friendly people. The port is second to none. The shops were nice and no one was accosting us to buy. We loved it and hope to come back again.

Beautiful! And very clean and well kept! We didn't venture far past the port shops and such, but it was FABULOUS! I was a little surprised by the slightly higher than normal prices in the gift shops, but considering our economy, I understand.

It was GREAT! The people, the sights, activities and other travellers made for a great excursion. The food was good and our tour guides, Angel and Logan were very informative about everything we saw on our way there. Its a 45 minute ride from the port, in rough terrain but well worth the ride. Would highly recommend it

This port is absolutely fascinating. The environment was fun. Stayed most of the time on the pool side and zip lining. The only issue we had was with the extremely slowness and sometimes rudeness of the restaurant employees there. To get food and/or drink it took an eternity.

Beautiful place. The cruise port had a good amount of shops and a lot of good excursions to choose from. My wife and I road horses on a beach and it was such an amazing time.

A great place to visit easily from your docked cruise ship. Simply grab your swim gear and walk down the pier. You only need to show your cruise card to clear back to your ship. There are many free beach chairs to use by the pools. ( umbrellas are for rent a and staff will bring them to your chairs and set up). There is a nice splash pool for little kids too. You can easily walk back to your ship for lunch and drinks and a break from the sun or to drop off any purchases you made from the many stores located in this port area. There are free public bathrooms, a restaurant, swim up bar and pool lounge chair service for those wishing to purchase food or drinks all in the pool area. Enjoy the upbeat music and sunshine. They offer many extra to purchase too, like pool floats, regular and fish massages. You can add on zip lining or a waterslide pass too (which looked like fun). If you venture out of the shop side, opposite the aqua area there is a small beach to relax at if you prefer. This was an easy, relaxing day in the sun . We really enjoyed this day in port. .

Amber Cove is a beautiful port. There is plenty of duty free shops and souvenir shops. There are several photo props to take photos of you and your traveling party at the cruise port. There are tons of excursions. Dominican Republic has great mountainous geography so they are able to offer excursions from waterfalls to zip lines to historical tours. There really is something for everyone! Enjoy your port time and excursions!

Great Carnival Port for families, couples, singles, friends, etc. Large wrap around pool with swim up pool bar. Kids play area and poolside cabanas to rent. Hillside and ocean cabanas as well. Lots of shopping, restaurant, and more. It is a Carnival Cruise Line port so if you want a more local and traditional Dominican feel, this isn't it. Book an excursion. We had a great time and would do it again.

Our guide was wonderful, Lots to do, not expensive but the free food and drinks was very bad. I don’t recommend this package offered by CC lines . I got ate up by something around my ankles, maybe ants ! No towels available on sight. They had a cute monkey!

This port is very nice. It is spread out with many things to see and do. There is zip lining, a water slide (which is free), a bar at the top of a hill, shopping, art, hammocks, places to eat, photo ops, swimming in three different pools, information on amber, beautiful flowers, and a walkway with koi fish. You can go in several directions, and each area has a different zone. The setup is simple. Carnival has put a lot of thought into this port and money. They did an excellent job. We visited in April, which was very warm. The zip line at this time, 2023, was $28 for the day. Unless you rent a car or take an excursion, there isn’t anywhere to go outside the port. One of the pools has a swim-up bar, and another is for the kiddos. The hammocks are in good condition and are set in a tranquil environment. The walkway with information about Amber is pleasant.

It's a nice port with stores, restaurants, shops, live music, pools, private cabanas, and more! The Dominican people are super nice and friendly. The pool gets overcrowded if there's more than one cruise ship at the same time, but it's a nice place. It gets really hot in July but a nice shaded area does the trick. My family and I really enjoyed this place.

A collection of stores selling goods from jewellery to clothing , drinks , food and duty free shops. I believe it just lacks atmosphere, a lost opportunity that could be better exploited and enjoyed by the visitors. It’s like all the pricing has been set and as such lacks that competition to have better prices. If there was larger covered areas with seating and more affordable drinks and tourist goods I believe it would be better received.

There is a free water park for cruisers, which seemed pretty nice. We went out on an excursion which was great. Other than the water park, really just shopping that is walkable.

Awesome place to chill and get some sun at the pool, shop, and get food and drinks. If you want to go to a good beach, it's 20 minutes away. Cost is about 35 round trip per person. There is a local beach 5 mins away. We took a cab and left right away. It was full of seaweed but had little shops the people try to get you to go in to shop. Their prices were a little cheaper. You can barter with them.

Amber Cove was lovely! We did the zip lining and horseback excursion. The ride to the location was good and educational we got to see the country side of the city. Zip lining was amazing and I would definitely do it again! First time riding a horse and enjoyed every second of it. Lunch they prepared for us was delicious also. I would definitely return!

We had a blast when we came here on our Carnival Cruise. Great area to hang out. Pool, slides, zip line food and drinks. The Zip line was 28.00 per person unlimited all day but there were 9 of us so we decided to rent the VIP section for 200.00. Including chairs and umbrellas right in front of the pool, bar and restaurant. It also includes wifi and zip lines. Good value for us.

Great spot for a cruise ship to make port. Great access to Amber Cove and the Atlantic Ocean! They even have pedal shuttles to transport you from ship to shore and back.

Beautiful relaxing day by the pool. Lazy river. Zipline. Cabanas for rent. Get here early from the cruise ship to find shaded lounge chairs near the bathroom and Nathan's food truck. The spot stays shaded for the day until we left at 3pm. Kids pool with water slides available.

Beautiful port! Loved the shopping area! If you want a stamp in your passport, they have an easily accessible building in the port to do that.

Amber Cove is a very nice port. It has a lot to offer. You can shop, eat, or rent something to have fun with. You can rent kayaks, paddle boats, stand-up paddle boards, pool noodles, umbrellas, and many other pool accessories. You can also rent a cabana for the day. They offer poolside, mountain side, ocean side, and for the big spender the Grand Cabana for $2000. Overall, it was a great friendly port with tons to offer.

My wife and I just returned Jan 23,2023 from spending 15 days at this resort. Biggest issue we had was no pressure or hot water in the shower. They tried very hard to fix it but it never happened. Now this not a good place for anyone with mobility issues. Stairs are everywhere so if you're older you're going to have problems. They do have a shuttle service that will get you to most places. The food was decent most days. The a la carte restaurants were worth going to. The staff overall were friendly and provided good service. The rooms are dated and in need of some attention. Oh I almost forgot the power goes off quite a bit. So if you're taking along any electronic stuff bring a surge protector. They do have people hounding you to sign up for time shares, if you end up going to check it out prepare to be with them for at least 3 hours for the tour. Overall we enjoyed the sun and the adults only pool.

I was so nervous because of the reviews but all of these people trashing the place just have ridiculously high standards for a resort that doesn't even claim to be 5 stars. We didn't try to get an a la carte, the buffets were usually really good, lots to choose from so we didn't make the effort. The rooms were decent enough - definitely a little outdated but the AC worked great and the beds weren't terrible. The water issue is true but it's really only during peak times (like when they are power washing the patios in the morning). Housekeeping came and cleaned everyday. Staff were amazing. Very attentive, polite, helpful and friendly. We found our favourite bartenders and they treated us well. Drinks were really good! Never had an empty cup. There are definitely a lot of stairs but I am not a fit person and still had no issues with them - just not great for small kids or people with mobility issues. It's a big place so you walk a lot BUT there is always staff driving on golf carts or the shuttle that will take you to wherever you need to go. Lots of pools to choose from which was great. There was a kids only pool that looked awesome for the kiddos. There was an adults only pool but it was located right above the kids only pool and didn't have a swim up bar. I think they should definitely have one of the pools with swim up bars as the adult only but there's lots of room in most of the pools so it wasn't an issue. Overall, I highly recommend this place! I was not disappointed at all. I was there for my birthday so I really only had plans to spend most of my days drinking in the pools and it was perfect for that. If you're looking to be able to do lots of activities on the resort then just pay to upgrade, you get what you pay for. Everything I've put as a con in here is really me just nit-picking... it was still an amazing stay with all of these things. Please tip your staff!!!! We brought $150 US and used a fair amount of it to just tip everyone and it was worth it. They only get to keep 10% of the tips so keep that in mind. Even if you can't afford very much, $1 US for any service you receive and they are so grateful. They don't really like our Canadian money so make sure to bring US or pesos for them.

To be honest, this resort doesn't care if you die. My father had a heart attack on property and spent three nights in the ICU at the local hospital. We asked for an exception to get a golf cart for him. We are members. The resort REFUSED. They don't care about anything but money. What a joke. They have no ability to provide actual customer service. There are so many other resorts to stay at that actually care about humans. Don't stay here. Ever. And don't even think about going to a restaurant without a VIP wristband! You'll be treated like cattle.

We spent 4 weeks at this place and we would not recommend the "Resort" to anyone who likes a clean inviting beach. We tried to enter the waters only once and luckily did not get sick because there were several streams of dirty smelly water flowing into the Sea. If you like a quiet environment and clean air this place will not be your best choice. Many rooms have a passage door to the next room which is so thin that you might hear/smell everything on the other side; however, should you get rowdy neighbors the security staff react very quickly. We would only consider visiting the place again for the mostly friendly staff.

Me and My hubby visited for his birthday from MI, USA. We quickly noticed almost no one speaks English, we thought they would on the resort. Food was okay. We wanted to try all the restaurants but the reservation part was tricky. Drinks were garbage. Bottom shelf. I did get sick. Room looked nice but lots of things didn’t work and They didn’t tell us about the toilet situation until late. View was amazing on the beach. Wouldn't visit again or recommend.

As a visitor the place is beautiful the help is wonderful. But as an owner they yes you to death and they don't perform benefits of always being caught or reduced and for the price you pay for ownership I don't think it's really worth it. They will show you the gold and value the brass

Had a great stay. The room was average, no real complaints about it. The wall mounted TV was really small. The safe was no use. And there was a really strict towel/face cloth policy. The resort was great with some pretty good food. There's a lot to do every night with a live show to attend. Traveling the resort by shuttle was seamless. The people were pleasant and welcoming. The Dominican Republic is a beautiful place and we will visit again.

Horrible. There is nothing positive about this hotel. This country has so many beautiful Resorts for all budgets, please go to one that is worth your money, this is not it. Service is horrible, pools are dirty with cockroaches in them, pool bars don’t provide cocktails. And every pool is so crowded, you can’t get in. They wake you up at 8 am every morning to clean the room or ask you dumb questions on the phone. The resort is so big you are constantly walking a mile to get somewhere or waiting for a shuttle along with a dozen other people. The night entertainment is garbage after the night show that ends at 10 there is nothing to do. The staff here is the worst I’ve ever experienced at any hotel or resort. Basic service doesn’t exist here. We don’t expect much at all, because we are natives and understanding, yet the service was so outright disrespectful that I had to leave a review. The front desk is incompetent, help yourself because they won’t. And please do not buy a timeshare or membership to this place. They try to sell you on it everyday all the time, make it sound amazing but then provide a terrible experience. Not to mention all the workers complain that they are severely underpaid and can’t even eat the food that they throw away at the buffets every morning, afternoon, and night. I killed 4 cockroaches in my room, I was disgusted.

This gorgeous resort gets highest ratings from me. My friends and I had an AMAZING experience. Definitely recommend and ask for Kathy when booking...she is utterly a gem!!!

Rooms looked nice, but were musty, cold, and damp. The AC was always left on high by Maid Services, and although we cut it off, the room was still too cold. Worse yet, I saw 3 or 4 cockroaches in the room.😫 As for booking the specialty restaurants, we were always told the restaurants were full all 5 days of our stay! We had to keep going back, asking and checking until they found something for us; the Thai restaurant, Moomtaz, was excellent. We also booked the Dominican and Seafood restaurants and they, too were very good. Angelica at guest services was the most helpful in getting dinner reservations for us. All in all, I'm glad we did Groupon for $80/night because, at that price, it's worth it. Although I was disappointed, I'd go again for that price and lower my expectations. The location and food was still very good if you can deal with mediocre service and bad accommodations.

During our stay in early January 2024, my family of 4 and my in-laws spent 4 days and 3 nights at the resort. We had visited this place a few years ago after the pandemic shutdowns, and we were excited to bring our extended family to share the experience with them. Unfortunately, our experience this time around did not meet our high expectations. The wait staff and entertainers were incredibly friendly and helpful; however, I had a less than satisfactory experience with the front desk. We received a warm welcome from the front desk staff upon arrival, which I thought set the tone for the rest of our stay. Unfortunately, we experienced some problems with the room during our stay. The room had an unpleasant odor of mold, and the air conditioning did not provide cool air; instead, it felt like stale air was being circulated. I experienced a couple of issues with the bathroom facilities. Firstly, the tub was consistently clogged, which was quite inconvenient. Additionally, the shower head would often lose its pressure, causing the water to flow down to the lower shower head. These issues made it difficult for me to fully enjoy my time at the resort. There seems to be an issue with the shower head, as it keeps switching back and forth when you try to use it. We encountered an issue with a leak in the bathroom ceiling and under the AC wall. I reached out to the front desk, and they assured me that they would promptly send someone over. After waiting for 20 minutes, I went to the front desk in person and asked for "maintenance." Unfortunately, even more time passed before anything was done. My husband went to the front desk, and after some time, maintenance came to fix the clogged bathtub. They also informed us that there is nothing they can do about the other issues and that the AC is already set to its highest level. I mentioned to him that my in-laws' air conditioning had functioning fan options, which made their rooms cooler, just like mine. But he didn't seem to care. After the fiasco on the first day, I just didn't bother.

Our rooms were unacceptable at the Tropical resort (no hot water, mold smell, toilet didn't flush, door didn't latch properly, shower was filthy, and our balcony overlooked a grey water drainage ditch), so the concierge moved us here. Now at Cofresi we have a slightly newer run-down room that overlooks the main road, so we hear motorcycles, horns, and music through our balcony door that doesn't close properly. Right now as I write this I can hear every word our neighbors are saying through the broken door dividing our rooms. The noise is absolutely unbearable and we cant sleep at night. Several times a day we are aggresively solicited to "upgrade" and invest more money. Why on earth would we invest more money into a place that you clearly aren't maintaining? We didn't come here to spend literally 2 hours listening to sales pitches and tours of your run down property. We went to Harmony Beach today, which is supposed to be one of the nicer "VIP" areas. There was literal sewage water leaking from on of the restaurant/ bathroom combo buildings, which stunk up a third of the lounge area. I would never come back here again, even for free. We're only 3 days in to our vacation and my wife and I are debating flying home early. This has been a tremendous disappointment. We're not rich and aren't even middle class, but every aspect of this vacation has been worse than where we came from. Spend your money elsewhere.

This place is absolutely dull! Food was below average, disco was closed “due to covid” yet every place was still open, and there were no restrictions whatsoever. There is absolutely no night life here apart from their colosseum shows, maybe you could gamble at the casino, but if you come with kids then that’s not an option for you. Everything is closed to their “members” who they sell vacation packs to, if you are not a member of their vacation club, then your options here are very limited! You’ll need transportation (buses, golf carts, etc) to get through the whole complex, as they have 2 resorts, but each of them lacks something, therefore you have to go across to the other depending on what you need, which is exhausting and not relaxing at all! If you think this is a place to spend your hard earned money at, please think it twice, it’s a mediocre vacation spot, and you’re able to find better resorts in the area.

Everything is based on the color of your bracelet. They don't explain much to you when you first get there. You have to figure it out on your own. They spend more energy making a fake beach built up from the ocean than they do having ocean side places to enjoy. I can see a pool anytime at home. I come to spend time by the ocean. Restaurants are good. 90% of the staff are very friendly. Be prepared to have a 3 hour tour of the property and try to be convinced to be a member.

Definitely choose another location if you’re planning on visiting the Dominican. Day 1 a worker was waiting for us outside and said he was taking us to breakfast. After breakfast he picked us up and said he was taking us for a tour of the grounds.. do not fall for it. He took us to a place that was trying to sell us basically a timeshare that would make us “VIP”. We said no many times before it even started, they don’t take no for an answer. They circle all of the places on a map that you’re allowed to go with you color wristbands, however, don’t fall for it. We went to one of the pools and got surrounded by staff and security. We showed them our map and explained that we were only going to the places we were “allowed”. We were willing to leave but they followed us out, so unnecessary and awkward. You will be bothered daily by people trying to sell you items at their store, asking if you want a massage, asking if you want to go on a banana boat.. the list goes on. You are judged instantly by your wristband. We booked through a friend who has a timeshare, his package is pretty good. To the workers, it’s not good enough. Service is mediocre at Cofresi, it’s way better at Tropical. The rooms are so-so. The mattresses are filthy. A complete remodel is needed. There’s two buffets - The Pearl and Casablanca (at Tropical), go to Casablanca. They only allowed us to book 3 reservations for the restaurants, we were there for a week. To get reservations you have to go and wait at the door from 9-11 and you’ll be lucky to get into a restaurant. Mexican and Moonlight are really good. For my first experience I was extremely disappointed. Morale of the story, if you’re not VIP and have the band to show it, don’t waste your time.

Not one to write a negative review but wow this place really deserves it. I really don’t understand why people go there. We rented a villa, and the villa seemed to have been built in the 90s and never touched again. It was nothing cheap either, 3k is not chump change for a 3 night stay. There are some sensible employees who I spoke to and they understood my frustration. We also had family staying at the regular hotel rooms but we ended up telling them to not even accept them because the whole vibe at the hotel is not cool or welcoming as a resort should be. You will have to take shuttle busses to get to dinner or anywhere. Once again the vibe is not a welcoming family environment. The establishment seems very run down and like they just never re-invest in the rooms or Villa.

Avoid going to this place! They have the worst service I've ever experienced in my life. WiFi is available for an extra charge. All the pools at the resort are dirty and they close at 7pm. Food at both the buffets and the restaurants is tasteless and poor quality. Do not jump into the 'greeting and welcoming' resort tour, it's just a scam to sell you a time share at the resort. Staff at the hotel are rude. Nightclubs are closed due to covid, although it was years ago it hasn't finished for them yet apparently. The casino is lifeless. If you ever need a paramedic, you must know they will charge you extra for that too. The water at the beach gave us pretty bad allergic reactions. I could go on and on about this. Please avoid this place, do not waste your money!

It was supposed to be VIP But it was not from beginning to end I was not satisfied our room was in need for repairs from electrical to plumbing our toilet ran continously our air conditioning unit leaks onto the floor, our lamps on the both sides of bed were taped up switches so to turn on you had to unplug or unscrew light bulb . The ceiling light with fan well fan worked light didn't, one patio door locked other one didn't, the safe had no way of locking totally broken, the chair in the room smelled like a funky old socks , No toilet paper holder, the mini bar was not full and two days late . Paint on walls and gaps in ceiling tile . When we checked in receptionists told me I had to pay 300 + 30 to for the room because it was an upgraded room. The mini TV had a problem that you can see in the picture. 😡👎😟😡 we also had the hardest time getting wash rags 😫😤

Cofresi Palm is part of the Lifestyles Resort on the north coast of the Dominican Republic and the best around. They really strive to take care of their customers. The food was excellent and ranged from casual on the beach to fine dining. The buffets also had a wide range of selections to please anyone. The beaches and pools were varied, always clean and with different vibes depending on what you wanted - family oriented or adult only pools with swim up bars or whirlpools. An on-site Spa Yin Yang was luxurious and I had the best massage I've ever had there. There are many types of accommodations to fit your lifestyle and budget from quiet studios to large 6 bedroom villas that can come with a private chef and transportation if you wanted. Most things are close enough to walk to at the resort but golf carts are available and shuttles run too. Truly something for everyone.

The food is awesome! So good I didn’t even get to take a picture of anything I ate. The Spa is really nice I did not wanna walk the whole Resort but from my location alone, there were about three swimming pools and two Jacuzzis. everything you need is at this resort from a cigar, professional, photography, jewelry shop and even a mini mart souvenir store.

Such relaxation & pure lavishness at this resort . Money well spent. I stayed at this resort for 4 days & 3 nights while celebrating my sister’s birthday . Beyond my expectations. This resort have everything you can think of. I will advise once you get here . Book any restaurant or activities early . Also, the property is enormous they are shuttle buses that runs often . The food and drinks were top tier . Several pools , access to the beach as well day and night activities for you to do . I would say stay clear of their “ LIFESTYLE PROGRAM “ . My sister & I lost 2 hours of precious time being dragged into a time share . Other than that, we had a great time . The staff were friendly, tidy hotel and great vibes.

Our first stay in the DR was at the Cofresi. We stayed in a junior suite. The room was large with two queen beds, jacuzzi tub and a balcony with a garden view. Small fridge and microwave. The resort is all inclusive. Depending on your member level, the drinks and restaurants change. We had VIP status, which was outstanding. Great restaurants and bars with top shelf drinks. Service was superb everywhere we went. We’re going back later this year and taking friends.

We just spent 7 days there and really enjoyed ourselves. I have to admit, I was skeptical going in because of some of the reviews but was very happy we visited. It is a big resort complex so a ton to do and a lot of food options. The room was nice, we didn't go to spend a lot of time in the room :). The employees were super nice and friendly and we met a lot of people that come to the resort regularly. They have nightly shows, a casino, night club, etc...I would definitely come back and would recommend this resort to others.

We just got back from this resort 3 days ago. We were alittle scared to go based on the reviews I was reading but I am glad we did. The food was good. there are lots of pools, we were at the one beside the pearl buffet, and for most the the week we had the pool to ourselves. Rooms were clean. My bed was hard as a rock but that was just mine, the rest of my family had decent beds. I will say 5/6 of us did get sick for one day out of the seven, but it wasn’t that bad. Freddy with air transit was awesome. LOTS OF STAIRS AND WALKING. So if you’re thinking of bringing your wheelchair bound parents, don’t.

I had booked a 3-night stay at this resort and 1 day before I started reading other people's reviews. I was scared and my expectations were very low, but I'm glad I didn't cancel. I am aware that the experience for each person is and will be different, but I want to share my experience during my stay with my partner. We were very surprised that check-in is at 3PM, they don't let you enter before, you have to wait sitting in the lobby. Thank goodness they started allowing check-in at 2PM and we managed to eat at the buffet. The room was not ready, but it was delivered to us at 3:40PM. Due to the reviews I had read, we decided to upgrade to VIP and they changed our bracelet to a blue one. The food at the buffet was delicious and the place was very clean and hygienic. Before entering, they give you antibacterial and it is mandatory for everyone. The customer service is great and they take care of you every moment. It is true that the complex is very large and you have to walk a lot and climb many stairs. On the third day, my partner and I's ankles started to bother us and it became a little difficult for us to walk. There is a bar everywhere, although it is also true that the drinks are not the best. Because of this, on the second day we only drank beer. The room was very large and spacious (Junior Suite). It is true that they call you on the phone, in fact, they knocked on my door every day at 9AM and they woke me up because of the sound of the door. Every day. The reason not to visit this place again is that there are too many higher-end, newer resorts for the same price or close to it. My recommendation if you want to visit this resort is that you make an extra effort to upgrade and be a VIP, you will have many exclusive places for yourself, making your stay more pleasant.

I was at this resort from Jan 15 to 29. 2024 The food was good,hotel grounds clean, that's the good stuff. Our room had a air conditioner leak into the floor,took 4 days to get it rectified. Usually the hot water is a problem but in this room the water coming from the cold water tap was very hot ,the toilet water was so hot felt the heat on our bum. This was never fixed over the 14 days , Could not take a proper shower as the water was just to hot most of the time. This is not a resort to go to if u have any sort of mobility problems. From the lobby u need to go down 30 stairs to get to the buffet or up 40 stairs from most of the rooms or 70 stairs in total, there is no other way to get there. The beach is only 200 feet wide to use and fenced on both sides, not a lot of chairs for most people and a number of them broken . The pools where crowded and a struggle to find chairs and shaded areas . U need to go put a towel on a chair at 6am if u want one. There is a lot of golf cart and bus type traffic all the time. A shuttle bus is used to get from rooms, to lobby or beach, due to all the stairs and hills to climb. The bus is every 20 minutes or so. Do not go to this resort if u have any mobility problems, I was so disappointed Red Tag never mentioned this to me even though when booking they can see I am 82 years old. Nor is it mentioned in any of the resort information about the place

We had an amazing time. Beautiful resort, feels like a botanical garden. So much to do, we were at a different pool nearly every day. Fantastic food options. Beautiful beach. Our room was nice, clean, and felt new.

This place is a joke. From checking in to checking out, the only good thing is the food, the rest is pretty bad, the drinks, the service, the staff, have to take a shuttle bus everywhere which runs every 20 min, and usually full of people and have to continue to wait, my daughter forgot her glasses in the room and because we had already checked out couldnt go and get it. Housekeeping said she didnt see them therefore glasses were lost, now i have to buy new glasses, i would never stay there again. Not even for free, and there is no management to talk to

DO NOT BOOK. BE AWARE!! This resort is NOT it shows on their website. The rooms are horrible and dirty. Broken beds, broken night lamps hanging off the walls and AC vents hanging. The beds were broken there is mold on the walls and doors. Management doesn’t care and horrible customer service. The resort is ok. However, the rooms and services are the most horrible thing. I wish I would post pics for you to view. Sadly I cannot. But I’m warning you. PLEASE BE AWARE AND RESEARCH BEFORE BOOKING THIS RESORT. Also, you are forced to attend their timeshare/travel package.

Located in the historic center of the city of Puerto Plata, this impressive example of modern Victorian architectural style, is one of the most visited religious buildings on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. This temple has two large bell towers, three front doors, a large central altar and a big cross-shaped stained glass window that presents the Ascension of Christ. In 2003, an earthquake affected the structure, forcing the complete restoration of the temple in 2008.

Beautiful church, would recommend a visit to see at least once.

Very interesting cathedral

The San Felipe Cathedral is the main Church of Puerto Plata, visible from almost everywhere in town with its two bell towers. It dominates the classic central square of Spain colonial cities with the square in size Independence park occupied with many locals and so lively. The Cathedral stands on the site of the former 16 c one which was destroyed during the Independence war. New Cathedral has a modern architecture and nice stained glass. We were lucky to visit it during the Mass.

The cathedral is located next to Parque Central Independencia. The current structure was built in 1870. The original wooden building burned down during the Restoration in 1863. The cathedral has undergone a pair of renovations since then. The first took place from 1929, halted during the 1946 Dominican Republic earthquake and finished by 1956. The latest renovation repaired damage from the 2003 Dominican Republic earthquake and finished by 2008.

Located on Independence Park (central part). You are allowed to enter and take pictures. There is a person trying to sell cross necklaces.

Playa Dorada is the absolute best beach on DR northern coast. It is lined with exclusive resorts and warm sea. Sand is as the name says golden color, super soft. Seaweed is occasional.

Nice beach, water was very pretty plenty of waves, excursion, rented beach chairs were dirty and run down.

Stunning beach that is only accessible for the resorts in the Playa Dorada gated complex. Technically, locals can access it if they enter on the west side of the public beach and walk a couple of kilometers, but that's not an issue for me. Pristince sandy beaches with beautiful warm blue water with waves to jump in. There are kiosks to rent jetskis, parasailing, snorkel tours, etc.

I recently visited this beautiful white sand beach, and I must say, it's impeccably maintained despite the numerous resorts nearby. Arriving with a tourist group, we were delighted to find a designated area with beach chairs and umbrellas exclusively for tourists. The availability of tap water for a refreshing post-beach bath was a thoughtful touch. Additionally, the convenience of having a restaurant nearby serving snacks and drinks added to the overall enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this beach for a relaxing getaway.

Best beach in Puerto Plata hands down!

We Stayed at VH Gran Ventana in Puerto Plata (Playa Dorada). Beautiful and scenic beach with a nice backdrop of hills. pretty clean with some sea weed depending on the time of year. Lots of fish, good for snorkeling. Grainy sand, the water is not too shallow for long, it gets deep quickly in some areas but that's normal.

Beach chairs and shade are $5 each. We stayed 2 hrs. Had no issues. We even rented boogie boards for $5. Everything was very nice. The waves were perfect.

In December and January the water was quite full of algae. Maybe it’s the season, I don’t know. Not in all the parts it was full with algae, but anyway it was disturbing. So, sometimes we were going to Sosua beach as it was wonderful there….

Despite not having the best weather, I enjoyed this beach time. It wasn't even close to being crowded due to the extra choppy waters and the storm. It rained for a spell then cleared and then rained again. When not raining, I walked the beach and enjoyed the water on my toes. This appears to be a fairly private beach as we had a dedicated section for our shore excursion. We were assigned a server and given details on buying from the locals. Speaking of servers Ariel is the best! The local shops persons wear numbers to let you know how to find their shops. Despite being private, there were some folks on the beach selling other things. I took a picture with a monkey and parrot for a few dollars. It's touristy. We have plans to visit again and hopefully will have better weather.

Been staying at VH Gran Ventana this week. Have visited this beach a few times now. Beautiful views of the coast, water is very blue and the sand is soft to walk on. Walked up and down the beach today as well and it was very clean throughout. Great place to hang out if your resort connects to it. Only downside is some of the locals can be pretty pushy when trying to sell stuff. After a while you just pretend to sleep and they leave you alone.

Fantastic beach with long walking distance available. Beach cleaning crews are out twice a day making it presentable for the tourists and the area in front of Gran Ventana is the best in my opinion! The reef out a bit stops sea algae and catches the big breakers so you have great opportunities for snorkeling right in front of the GV. Around the north corner by Emotions there is a lot of seaweed/ algae this year churning up so not great swimming there but a very fun long beach to water section to get into some good waves crashing if that's your thing. "Grand Paradise Playa Dorada" resort has been closed a couple years and under renos by Hodelpa at this time so that area is rough as there is active construction and landscaping.

Get ready for a not-so-chill time at this resort. Relaxation takes a hit as folks keep bugging you to buy stuff. Sit on the beach for a minute, and bam, five people try selling you things. It doesn't stop there – another ten join the sales party. I get it. Locals need to make a living, but when you're forking out for a "relaxing" resort, dealing with constant sales pitches is a downer. To salvage any peace, your best bet is to stay in the water all day or play the "I'm asleep" card on the beach. The beach is an absolute beauty, but being pestered the whole time takes away from it.

While I can understand and excuse the seaweed, the sheer amount of litter both on land and in the sea was horrendous. From plastic cups to clothing and a ladies sanitary napkin, there was trash everywhere. This little square contains statues of Gregorio Luperón and Juan Pablo Duarte. A nearby sign contains a poem about the patriotism of Duarte. In the middle of the park was a two story grandstand not regularly open to the public. Peddlers and self-proclaimed tour guides in this area can be pushy. Do not be afraid to walk away if you do not need their gadgets or brochures.

It's a typical Spanish settlement town square with church. There are a few statues. Most of the area is covered in concrete. The church has beautiful stained glass windows.

Great place to relax. The avenida is clean and relaxing . The donkey man walks around and entertains people via his moves.

My bride and I really enjoyed our tour of Puerto Plata. Some history of the island, a look at the neighboring countryside and a very nice lunch of local cuisine. This was a really fun and informative stop on our cruise.

Parque Central is a fantastic place to be, where both locals and tourists contribute to its vibrant and beautiful atmosphere. With good music, great people, and rich local culture, it truly embodies the essence of community and offers a memorable experience for all who visit.

Beautifully decorated for Christmas, security making sure the place is safe, several portions for coffee, drinks, desserts and food around the park, it’s a family environment, sometimes they hold shows and artist performance. Also many well maintained buildings from vernacular architecture worth viewing and photographing.

This park is just a square but we visited right after New Years and it was decorated lovely. It is a short walk from the port. There are a lot of pigeons! There was a gentlemen that would use bird seed 5o attract them and you could have your picture taken with them if you want to be that close to pigeons. St Philip the apostle cathedral is right off the square and has beautiful stained glass.

Nice central area to access pink street and umbrella street. There is lots of police protection for tourists so you can feel safe! We saw a guy in a donkey riding costume. Kinda looked like 'the most interesting man alive' lmao. He was great and allowed pictures. Didn't ask or push for any tips from anyone, but I'm sure it's appreciated.

Our experience riding go karts was great until we decided to buy 2 small bottles of water and one pop for 500 pesos which is almost 10 USD. We live in Sosua full time and even in Canada's tourist area you won't be paying that high for drinks. Chips and everything else was 20 to 50 Pesos all across but since there was no price on drinks she tried to rinse us.

Fun place.we had a blast here. My daughter is crazy about riding 3 different tracks. Very few people in the line 2 options for tickets 1. 200 Pessos for 1 ride 7 min 2. 600 Pessoa for 2 hours No much shade. No food today on facilities. Unfortunately the cart I was driving was old and retarded so I was a slower one and it wasn't fun at all. My daughter bumped her back and wasn't happy about it. There is no place for these who is waiting . No much shade and no food to buy.

This is a nice place... Their location it is super easy to access and with a great parking... It is family place, that's means, your family will spend a great time in there... BUT, they need an urgent improvement in their bathroom, that place looks terrible, and they have nothing in there, no water, no alcohol gel, nothing to wash your hands because there are no water or soap... Also, one of their staff was very disrespectful and rude with our kids, even after we talked with him in a very nice way... Anyway, we had a good time, although those problems.

We had tons of fun here. There are faster tracks for adults. Only downfall is they need more shade. It's hot asfalt and not many places to hide. They should do a little maintenance to the structures, but all in all we had a blast.

I expected a lot more. Ended up taking their 1 hour unlimited ride pass. Just as we did one single ride, 2 huge buses of school kids arrived. The ratio of working cars to the number of people waiting in line meant one ride every 1.5hrs. We came on a Wednesday at 2:30pm. Never coming back.

Nice area, did a 7 minute go kart ride, but definitely runned down and needs a lot of maintenance and love. Looked deserted but would definitely come back

It's a few old go carts... you drive around in circles for 7 minutes. Don't expect major WOW! factor for the cars or anything. They shake you up ALOT. Bring a pillow if you're sensitive to that. Nothing special... but definitely something fun with the right group of people. It's 200 pesos for 7 minutes in the singles car (150 pesos for the slower doubles car, if you have a small child). We didn't see any snack place, but if you bring a couple snacks, there is an area where you can sit. There's also a playground. It was pretty clean. The person at the ticket counter had a mask on. The guys working at the cars did not. It's alright. We were the only people there at 1pm on a Monday.... however, we've never seen more than 2 or 3 cars in the parking area on any given day.

Good for hangout with the family. I went there at 1 pm... since other users reviews said trouble with the lines... found the place empty and we have a lot of fun. Go-Karts looks safe. Staff was very nice and gave us all the instructions we need. Issues: I belive they're short of personnel (no one at the cafeteria) and the bathroom were dirty (taking 2 stars for that).

Awesome time spent with a family. Races on karts, kids karts are fast and good. Just bumping cars are not good, but who cares.

Worth the drive from Puerto Plata, Playa Dorada. Crystal clear waters and white sand. If you have the chance, book your excursion from Alegria tours. Manuel is a terrific guide! We were the second group that arrived in the island, and while some groups only stay there for an hour, we stayed for 2.5 hours! Heads up though, th espeed boat is very bumpy, so hold on tight! Snorkeling is about 15meters+, it felt like you're in an aquarium.

This is like a ghost town of a shopping center. The surrounding area is phenomenal however the center itself is dated and mostly empty.. I went after hours to catch the Avatar movie in English but the movie theater had wrong information and I wound up having to watch it in Spanish. Which was surprisingly enjoyable! The movie theater itself is also pretty old but I am grateful that there was a movie theater right here in Puerto Plata

Unfortunately, the mall has so many locations closed and it was very "dead". I visited at aroynd 2pm and we were the only people walking to mall. It was actually very sad to witness. There is a pizzaria we wanted to dine at but they didnt open until 4pm. I'll be returning to try out the food.

While the staff was very attentive and pleasant the food choices were horrible. I barely ate the entire trip. The rooms are a little outdated, the room I paid for is not the room I got so that was disappointing. I would not recommend it!
