I went to Grotto with the Marianas Trekking Saipan - Blue Grotto Snorkeling Tour on a Sunday in November. Sadly I was the only one on the tour but I'm glad Marianas Trekking didnt cancel the snorkeling tour. My snorkeling guide Arman was very nice and great at guiding me around Grotto. Unfortunately, the current was very strong and waves were crazy so there wasn't alot of fish. But I still had fun and it was beautiful.

This place is gorgeous and just amazing to see in person. Pictures are almost doing it justice. So fun to swim in a cavern. There's plenty of steps to go down and up so make sure you can walk them cause they will tire you out if you're not in shape.
Amazing place for free diving, snorkeling, jumping off rocks, climbing stairs, picnics, and scuba diving .Lifeguard on duty 9 AM. Stay away from the waves, people get carried in dangerously into crevasses. Very calm otherwise and pricelessly beautiful
Stunning. Absolutely stunning. I cannot describe the feeling of jumping in and just looking around you. The water is so clear and you can see everything around you. Bring your flippers!!!! Flippers makes it much easier to swim around.
Do not miss this if you are in Saipan! It didn't feel like an experience one could have anywhere else. I didn't even scuba - just a little snorkeling. Mini-snorked. Or whatever you'd call it.
We swam for about an hour, and then a HUGE group showed up and we split.
I highly recommend flying to Saipan now and doing it. You'll thank this random internet stranger later!
This place is good for skin diving and snorkeling. It is very safety for beginners. Not so many fishes but great experience.
This is a world class destination. Do not go alone. If you don’t do stairs every day, prepare to wheeze like Darth Vader in gym class. The stairs are slippery, steep, and uneven. That said, it’s undeniably gorgeous and if you’re an experienced scuba diver, there’s no place in the world quite like it.
We went to dive, extremely rough some days but very beautiful. Recommend for experienced divers, otherwise you should have a guide. The stairs are very steep. You should be in good physical condition.
One of the best swimming spots and top attraction of the island. If you're a certified scuba diver, you should definitely book a dive here! Ample parking space. 100+ steps down/up. Conditions can be deadly so pay attention to warning signs and security/life guards advice. Once you reach the bottom there's a little crossing to the main rock where you can get into the water. On busy days if you look like a tourist the life guard may not let you cross over to the main rock, depending on the number of people present. Mask/fins and some water is all you need to bring down. Also good to bring a life jacket, pool noodle, or something you can use to float and chill of you don't wanna swim.
Recommend to have a local guide. Me and my bf paid $25 each for a guide and he allowed us to stay longer and we enjoyed so much!
We didn't swim. A slew of snorkelers in the water. A few divers around. Very steep steps down to Grotto. I felt for the divers carrying tanks and gear back up the stairs.
We went to the Grotto in October 2018. There was nobody there because we went early before the tour guides came. It was incredibly humid but so beautiful. We did not go in the water, but would love to try to go the next time we are there. No pictures can do this justice!

This is a very beautiful park, especially if you get away from the busy areas. The quiet, secluded corners, and the beach up there are where it's at. Definitely recommend a stroll up here
Definitely a nice little museum if you like the war museums. They have a 10 min video about the history of the war and how Saipan was affected. There wasn’t a brochure with a map and the monuments aren’t well marked. The grounds are fairly sprawling and the walks are lined with flame trees. They also offer a weekly fishing program that seems to be popular with local children.
Wonderful place to spend hours, if not days soaking in the many fragrances of numerous varieties of flowers alone. This is a very well maintained park that should be visited often. Whether on a family outing, or just by yourself, be sure to take your camera and lots of batteries. I did!

Well done! Neat, organized park with a great museum. Make sure you ask the staff to show you the video. It explains the battle for Saipan in good detail. Then view the monument. A good reminder of the sacrifices of those who have gone before.
Unique National Park. Great little museum with thought provoking historical displays. Photos and era peices paint a picture of the ww2 scene in Saipan.

Sad history for a pretty place
It was very windy up there the day I went so it was not scary but the view was amazing.

One of the best place to visit on Saipan. Reaching this place through biking was a great achievement, it is very steep and windy. The climb is worth the view. Stunning!!!😍

Honestly I was a little disappointed with this beach. I had heard it talked up so much that it just didn't live up to expectations. It is tucked away beind a resort so parking is pretty far away, and the resort is closed (Covid) so the beach is dirty and not well kept right now.
The sand close to the ocean was very nice and soft, so that was a plus, but the big beachy area was covered in leaves, otherwise it would have been really nice.
The water around this beach is not the best for snorkeling because the waves do come right up to the sand so the visibility isn't great, but really fun for kids to play, it does have a floating line to mark a swim area.
Beautiful white beach can be some seaweed, At low tide you can walk out almost a mile to Managaha if not for the reef and channel LOL. Couple alright hotels right there. Sunsets always good in Saipan.
I recommend Citron on ice and alot of ice-water. And sunglasses, the glare and white sand gets intense.
On one of the ships you can still see offshore 1994-1995(IIRC)

Good Facility with Interesting Events(The Lunar New Year Events were going on) but a too upscale place for oneself. Personally, not many 'Saipan' products. Hard Rock Cafe here seems famous.

High end. Period. Not the right place if you're just looking for some inexpensive flip flops, shorts, and sunscreen. I did find that they carry Herschel and similar brands though. It is a beautiful mall with Hard Rock restaurant upstairs.
It’s the place for trendy and high end goods. All the major brands: Tiffany and Co. and Cartier to name a few. You can also get all your Saipan souvenirs in one location. Top shelf alcohol, chocolates and vitamin supplements are in one location. Shopped here many times over the years.
The price is chip than other conturys.
Half the mall was shut down and it's all accessory stores, no real clothing or shoes.
Best duty free shopping place in Saipan: brands, cosmetics, chocolate, spirits etc. Brands offered change over time; selection of items available in brand boutiques in vast majority of cases better than at the airport duty free. Free WiFi.
Half of the Galleria building is now a casino (casinos recently legalized in Saipan)

I recommend taking the route that goes from the east side, and avoid any east side roads, especially from Garapan as you will definitely need a 4x4 and you will scratch your car on shrubbery.
All in all this was our favorite spot on the island with wide 360 views of the entire island
This place is amazing. If you happen to be on Saipan on a clear sunny day, make this one of highest priorities. The view is so beautiful. You can see Saipan end to end and you'll be able to see Tinian and other islands as well. We went on a cloudy day and we're still able to soak in the beautiful views.
There are a good amount of stairs here an lots of uneven grounds, but very manageable to walk on. Manamko may need some assistance at this site.
There is no charge to enter. We do recommend you bring a more robust car and don't drive here in a sedan if it is raining. Majority of the road is unpaved but manageable at the time of writing. Our friend who is a local was amazed how smoothed out the road was. Note the Pacific games are next week so they are probably preparing all the sites on Saipan for the influx of visitors. It may be more or less bumpy when you go.

Great place for drone footage. Do not bring a Sedan on a rainy day or the day after. I drove a Sedan on a dry day with no problem. It is best to switch the transmission to manual mode and adjust as needed. Please please, drive slow on the way down. The friendly dogs you passed on the way up may panic and you may accidentally run them over. You would also be responsible for a dust cloud ruining people's homes.
Any car can reach the parking lot. I have done it with a Toyota Yaris. Just drive carefully and you will be fine. It is quite windy there, so it might be wise not wearing loose clothing like skirts.
Road condition is horrible. Do not try if you don’t have off-road vehicle 4wd. Warning big pot holes and steep rocky hills.
We had a family SUV in front of us trying to go up a steep hill but failed multiple times. When they succeeded they drove dangerously fast to go up; it was almost like a plane taking off it had to build speed by backing up. I was watching with anxiety just looking at them go. Almost went too fast and went over to the other side of the road.
History and travel buffs will appreciate the panoramic views of the highest point of the island. Parts of the unpaved road are rough and lower rental vehicles should not attempt this.

This is one of the most interactive and least sanitized WW2 battle sites I’ve ever seen. Take an older veteran with you and ask her or him to describe what they’re seeing in terms of defenses. This was a place of actual combat and there are tasteful memorials all over the area.
Historical relics from WWII. Several memorials from allied countries including South Korea. Near Banzai cliff, it’s an easy stopover or picnic area—plenty of parking.
Amazing to see! So nice seeing that things have lasted here 80 years. You can see what time abs salt air has done. I couldn’t fit the entrance in the front but my wife was able to.
Collection of WW2 equipment and munitions. Structures available for picnics and gatherings. Open areas for outdoor exercise or to allow the kids to run around. Memorials to those lost during the Saipan conflict.
Wish there was a little more in the information that is present.
This site is still recovering from Covid, but the groundskeepers are coming out and starting to clean it up. This is a solemn site commemorating the enslaved Korean, Japanese soldiers, and Americans who died in WWII.
I can't imagine traveling to Saipan and not stopping here. Spend some time looking up the history of the island and people. Much respect for those caught between the US and Japan on the Pacific Islands.
Great place to visit and feel the tragedy of the pacific war caused by Japanese military. Flowers and trees and even birds are easily found with its beauty nature. Must visit place for Koreans, Chinese, and Americans whose ancestors suffered from Japanese imperialism

First stop on our trip to Saipan after leaving the airport. Beautiful beach. Note that the beaches on the south side of the island are on largely unpaved roads. I took our car and was worried in a few spots if I’d make it out because of massive holes/potholes in the road. Recommend 4WD in this area.
Obyan (pronounced Ob zan) is a lovely beach. Great place to spend the day with family and friends.
Great beach for sunsets, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Usually deserted, so you’ll have the beach to yourself. Easily take cover when it’s rainy—the water is nice and cool
One of the most impressive of the many dives. The white seabed extends out to sea, and the white sand is said to be the origin of the name of the site.
The sight of garden eels emerging from the seabed and swaying is a soothing sight that can be watched indefinitely.
Great for snorkeling. Don’t go too far out or you risk your life. Amazing views if you have snorkeling gear.
Perhaps the best beach for snorkeling. Security guard on duty until 5 pm (to watch over your car). No life guards on duty. The swimming area is limited by the reef (only locals and divers go beyond the reef, with special gear). You can swim on top of corals, the water depth always allows a 10 year old child to stand on the floor. Snorkeling on this beach, you can perhaps see most of the fish that you can see in Saipan (unless you are a diver).
Check the tides chat before you go - in low tide it's almost impossible to swim, you'll hit the corals with you knees and belly.
Another place for snorkeling to try is Wing Beach - a much smaller area, though.
Great beach for bonfires, sunsets, snorkeling, and scuba diving.

This beautiful island is just a stone’s throw from mainland Saipan. It’s a stunning area with a (basically) private beach, and the pictures you’ll get will be top tier.
However… if you plan to visit, there are a few things to know.
First, the trail leaves from the roadway at the top of a nearby hill. It’s a steep ascent/descent, and for an athletic person it will take about 15 minutes to get down and 25 to get back up. My phone told me the round trip was about 60 flights of stairs, and it wasn’t easy in either direction.
Second, the trail is maintained, but not friendly… it’s easy to slip and hurt yourself, and part of the trail includes a rope that’s necessary to get up and down a particularly steep part. If you don’t consider yourself fit, reconsider this trip.
Lastly, it’s important to know that getting to the island itself requires navigating a small channel that’s about 40-50 feet across. The current is strong, and the surrounding area is made of razor-sharp coral and volcanic rock. Wearing sneakers is a must, and gloves are a good idea. Even then, you may still get caught by the current with undesirable results.
In short: if you’re physically fit you should absolutely visit the beach on the mainland side of the island, which is rocky sand but has great views and is quite private.
BUT… you should carefully consider whether you actually want to cross to the island. People HAVE died trying to do so, and there’s nothing on the island that’s worth your life.

Some of the very best scenery in Saipan. Be careful, though! First, the hike (roughly 30 minutes each way) is a bit challenging, and it's much more tiring coming back up. There are places that may be slippery, and there are steep dropoffs. But more deadly is the current in the water near Forbidden Island, especially around wintertime. Be aware of tide conditions and check advisories (e.g., from NOAA) before you go.
There is a nice natural pool next to the beach where you can do some snorkeling, but even that starts getting rough as the time comes in. DO NOT go to the cave or to the island itself without wearing properly fitted life vests and perhaps taking other precautions. DO NOT be fooled into thinking that going in a group makes you safe to go everywhere; the waves can take out anyone who is in the wrong place at the wrong time.
For the most adventurous, it is possible to hike to the top of Forbidden Island, which is interestingly flat. I suppose you could even camp up there, but consider the tide changes when you make your plan to come back.
There are no facilities at all at or near the beach, so you have to bring your own everything and pack out. There also may be no cell phone signal down there. There are no vendors or restrooms even near the parking area at the top of the trail. It is very remote for Saipan, but even the view from the top is worth the trip for those who don't do the hike.

One of my favorite places in the island as it provides fresh and seasonal local veggies and fruits.
Coconut juice is also cheaper than other vendors.
Avoid processed food but buy and support local! You are what you eat :)
Every Saturday the market is held here and they are very useful for common people.
Clean and great local products ....
Good place to buy local produce.
Different varieties of bananas available all year long. What I love the most is local pineapple season from May-August. They are way sweeter than your US variety.
I just love this place! Get all your local fruits, veggies and value added products here!
A lot of stuff and food to buy
Great selection of locally-grown produce, some of which is hard to find at any other store. Great staff to help with questions about unfamiliar produce, such as how to select the right one and how to prepare it.
By far this is the Best farmers marketplace you could ever get the best Local vegetables, fruits and other local food and the price is cheaper than any other stores.

Absolutely beautiful beach in a remote spot that is largely quiet on a weekday. Note that the beaches on the south and southeast side of the island are on largely unpaved roads. The roads to this beach were the worst of all the driving we did. I took our car and was worried in a few spots if I’d make it out because of massive holes/potholes in the road, particularly on steep inclines. Recommend 4WD in this area.
Great shore dive in the area.. Good sea shell collection. Easy to get to.. Park right at beach
One of the best beginners dives on island due to easy entry exit once you visit with an experienced guide. Be safe and enjoy amazing turtles, cuttlefish, and other awesome sea creatures
Rough roads getting in. Water too much to really snorkel because of rip currents. Beautiful water though!
It's a great place for diving! But, the road into Lau Lau is terrible and really needs to be fixed! The parking lot also needs improvement! This would be a great project for MVA to take on, especially when we are trying to increase tourism!
Lau Lau is a beautiful beach that is frequented by local divers. Just off shore is an array of sea life. Beautiful colored fish, coral, and lots of sea turtles. The beach is a nice place to watch the sun rise, have a relaxing day, or just enjoy some time away crowds. The road to the beach is rough and has a lot of potholes but, the drive is worth it.
Good diving spot to see turtles :)

It's better to take route 36 than the road recommended by Google map. Until the sign 'old man by the sea' was clearly seen, you can start trekking from there. The hiking route is a bit narrow with a lot of twigs and branches along the way. Moreover, it was very slippery after rainfall in a late afternoon. However, the place is awesome and worth visiting.
Nice place, the hike to the beach is somewhat steep and gets very muddy after a rain. It has been recently cleaned of the trash, though, so it looks much nicer now.
A bit of a hike thru mangrove area, so a bit of crouching is required. The trail is pretty well cut!! Definitely worth the hike in..
The hike to the beach is less than 30 minutes and pretty easy, the difficult parts have ropes to assist. Really fun to go with a group. The beach is beautiful and secluded.
Hike aint so bad. You park ypur car by the road at the start of the hike. Its about 30 mins max heading down and back (also depends on the person). Not hard, only a couple steep hills to overcome. Bring extra clothes cause you would end up swimming.

Must be 21 years old above to use this nice facility. No photo taking allowed inside. Most games can be bet on 25 dollars and a few are available 1 dollar. Must have a passport to exchange the chip. Smoking Free inside. The best Chinese restaurant inside are available.
Fun to see such an ostentatious place in Saipan. Really feels out of place. But it is fun if you like to gamble. Reasonably priced tables, a diversity of games. Staff were professional and friendly.
Aesthetically pleasing building, but its unfinished construction ruins the overall look of Garapan.
This resort was CLOSED DOWN by the Saipan Government because the employees were not getting paid. Waisted!!!!

Old Shrine area within Sugar King Park (park there), a remnant of Japanese occupation of Saipan. The main building is gone but you can read a bit about Japanese history in Saipan. My great great grandpa built this church
sacred and biggest catholic church in Northern Mariana. Inside is also beautiful and door-opened. Sometimes, Chinese honeymooners take snap photographs in here.
Attended a mass here on sunday. Beautiful singing by the choirs.
People were very kind. An elderly man offered me a ride to the centre which I had to turn down because I was heading to the airport.
Attended a funeral here. Didn't really like the guy and I still got to go to the after party so overall good experience. You guys need to clean your holy water though, I washed my face and got pink eye. Naturally, I tried to wash my eye again and I was basically moving all of my bacteria from my eye and into the water.
Its one of the oldest churches, brings back lots of childhood memories, big events held for youth and all other religious functions..i can go on and on and on..
Good peaceful, bit surprised to have this big decent church in Saipan.
Especially good when too many casinos occupy the island.
