amazing, it was real in front of my eyes (not just on the Apple wallpaper) !! there were many different angles looking into the blue pond, many different reflections of the sky too. the kind of blue is very special, not the sky blue, not the deep-sea blue, kind of turquoise blue but it glowed a bit. not sure my pictures captured the ambience.

A lovely place to take a relaxing stroll along the artificially created blue pond and it's tranquil surroundings. The blue water is an effect of the aluminum that has seeped into the water and reflected from the sunlight. Recommended for a nice quick visit for some photography opportunities. There is also public toilets available a this area.

Not a very huge pond but the water in the pond is stunning. I guess depending on the time of the day and whether it is sunny or cloudy, the water will give a slight greenish hue or stunning turquoise colour. I would recommend going early in the morning to avoid tourists. The carpark is 500Yen Which you pay when you exist. There is a toilet. If you have time, you can drive further up the road (about 4mins) to Shirahige Waterfall.

Simply beautiful even though the pond was frozen. It was amazing to catch a glimpse of this lovely blue pond during different season, the beginning of Spring. Worth the effort to pop by.

Nice experience. When you first enter, you will not feel that the water is blue. Move more and you'll start to see more blue water. Taxis cost 4900¥ to reach there. You can take a rental bicycle from the Biei station. If I remember correctly, the distance b/w station and blue pond is more than 21 kms and it will take more than 1 hour to reach there.

Although the area is small, it is worth the stop. The pond is beautiful to look at with a scenic view of the dams waterfall. Parking is 500¥ per vehicle though there are a few areas prior you can pull to the side and walk to the parks many walking paths. There's a small shop that is a bit pricey but holds some cute trinkets and yummy snacks.

Pretty and very blue lake but a very long drive to get there. I don't think it was worth renting a car and driving 3 hours each way from Sapporo just to see this pond. Definitely drop by if you're in the area but don't make this your destination. They have a cafe and toilets on site. The parking is paid and they charged 500 yen per car. Just prior to the drive up to the pond there's a great rest stop with vending machines, toilets, a phone and some maps. Also note in the afternoon at 4pm, there were many insects that would sting. Use insect repellent.

Super crowded and with just a narrow muddy path that goes both ways, one has to walk with caution despite being mesmerised by the view. And that view makes all that worthwhile. Would highly recommend to come at least once, preferably not on a rainy day, which I guess would be rewarded with clear waters and photos with nice reflection. Blue ice cream was surprisingly refreshing and tasty. Didn't taste weird at all!

Went on 17 April in the morning. Part of the pond has melted while path to take photo was semi-muddy and the number of visitors was reasonable. The view of the blue pond was beautiful with the surrounding ice melting

Amazing!! It looks even more magical in person. It's a very quick attraction, you can be in and out within 10-20 minutes, but it's worth the stop.

Very pretty blue pond in Biei, Hokkaido. Parking is 500 yen, but otherwise there's no charge. It can get pretty crowded as the day goes on, so I'd recommend going in the morning if possible. Absolutely recommended if you're in the area, but unless you're looking to take lots of photos it's probably not worth coming out of your way. If you just want to stroll around and enjoy the sights, 15 minutes is probably plenty. I spent an hour here comfortably taking lots of photos from different angles and with different camera lenses. The weather was beautiful and the pond looked lovely in front of the turning colors (early October). Shop nearby has some cute, if a little pricey, themed goods.

I found this place 'magical' , as the colour of the pond changed from greyish to stunning blue. The presence of the withered Japanese larch trees in the waters added to its mystical surroundings. Looking great for photography! As I read, the colour of the pond looks different at different times of the day. [ Wheelchair accessible ]

Quick pond to visit. Not much to see here, other than a quick walk along the pond, finding a hole to take a photo in between all the other visitors. I think the exit queue from the parking lot took longer than our walk along the pond.

Beautiful pond with an amazing blue water color hue. There are some trails to explore nature surrounding the pond. There's a public restroom and big parking lot in the vicinity.

Thought we couldn’t see much of the blueness because it was cloudy with heavy rain (We thought the blue was actually reflection from the sky). Hence we were pleasantly surprised to see the pond pretty blue! Very nice view. Wonder if tourists can swim inside JKJK Parking available at 500 yen with many parking slots.

The pond is very pretty but really off from everything. I wish there was more to do and more regular busses. I recommend going by car unless you are also fine with walking for about 45 minutes, then you can also reach the waterfall and Onsen

We come here in late March and pond was frozen. Amazing moment is another experience from pictures in internet ^^. At the end of walk way, small river still flows. Nice scene.

There are two different view and atmosphere when you visit in the daytime and at night. I prefer night time as the view on blue pond was so spectacular. We came at 6pm during end autumn where the night fall after 4.30pm. Have a totally different view and we love it. The ice-cream shop close around 6pm and luckily we got the last order. 😀

It was a cool pond to see, and the color of the water (brightness of the blue) is dependent on the weather more then anything. Not much else in the area, and a 500¥ parking cost. Souvenir shop was there with some unique gifts. I would revisit to see it in winter, but nothing more.

It was beautiful but a bit dry. Not surr if there was a part were there’s more water and if you can go closer.

Very picturesque pond. The blue colour is the result of minerals present in the water interacting with sunlight. The pond is surprisingly close to the parking lot. Go up to the left (past the ice cream stand) to reach the best photo spot immediately. Going up the walkway to the right is not worth the effort as the path is narrow and muddy and the view isn't very nice.

We drive up there to combine it with the Ningle Terra’s ( 48 mins from the pond ) . Worth the 500 yen parking to take some nice, pictures. When i was there it was freezing -12 degrees. I can imagine the pond looks nicer during the spring/summer period.

When we arrived, it seemed still under maintenance or construction. From the way it looks like, it is definitely well maintained and people continue to work on improving this place. We stop by this place by the roadside because we are attracted by the view. It is a nice stop for everyone.

I went and visited in the middle of December with the tour. They will ask and reserve the snowmobile for us in advance. Single riding 1 hour charged at ¥12,000. Double riding 1 hour charged at ¥18,000. The price are also included helmet, boots and pants but no gloves and coat so wear and dress your proper clothes or bring the thin balaclava protect your face and neck from the cold during your ride. Local guide ride very slow and safety. All rider are ride one by one. Wonderful experience ride through the natural surroundings It’s cheaper price if compared with other countries as Iceland or Finland that I rode the snowmobile. For family with child, they have the area for sledding board.

It's a magical experience to witness all the of the natural beauty in just one place and you will get the chance to view the whole place in a hired buggy. Dune buggies could be hired for just a course ride.

Took a 3-hour ride from Sapporo to Shikisai Mo Oka by JR rail. At the Furano station , we had to take a cab to reach there. There were only lavender flowers. We had the lavender flavour ice cream and lunch there at the second level

Went on 12/6/23. The flowers not in full bloom yet. Nevertheless we took the tram about $20 for 3 pax. It included the alpaca and the tour using tram. The alpacas are so cute! The flowers are lovely. I would recommend this. From Singapore

The only park that charged for entry. The biggest I visited in my trip. Offered different varieties of flowers in neat rows over few hill slopes. I thought it was over-rated. Other smaller farms were as pretty.

Tourist trap. 500 yen parking, 500 yen entrance, 500 yen to see the alpacas. Yes, it's really beautiful on a sunny day, but I found it so artificial. For the lazy there are tractors and gasoline buggies. I walked around the whole place and I was done in 30 mins including photos. I thought it wasn't worth the money. There are beautiful places in Biei that are completely free to take photos.

Wonderful spring/summer experience for all, family centered, can hire golf arts, tractor buggy and walk through these stunning fields of flowers. I will also reccomend trying the mouthwatering soft serve milk or lavender icecream, famous in this region. Eating this while strolling through these flower fields for a unique sensual experience. The views beyond Shikisai are exceptional to make the most beautiful photographs, a great Instagram spot for those that indulge in social media. Enjoy.

Spectacular row of flowers, great for photo taking. Parking was 500 yen but the actual entry fee was waived because we came in June, right before the peak season.

The flowers weren’t in full bloom yet when we were there. There are options to rent a buggy (if you have a driver’s license recognises in Japan) or riding a trolley pulled by a tractor. The space is fairly large, with some uphill along the way. Pay extra to feed alpacas. Helicopter also available (but pricey). The tractor ride stopped on the uphill to allow pictures overlooking the flower hills, which would have been breathtaking if all the flowers were in full bloom.

Beautiful to see long stretches of flower fields. Flowers are seasonal so you will find sections which are totally in bloom and some sections just being planted. There is an Alpaca farm inside, do watch out for it, they do have a small ATV and also an option for a helicopter ride :) Had a great experience overall!

Came during an off peak season where entrance fee was free for all visitors 1. You could just stroll yourself around the area and it's really quite chill. 2.Will be tough for elderly to get around as it's all loose gravel and slightly steep. However for the most folks shouldn't be a problem 3. They still keep a decent amount of flowers for the visitors during off peak - not too bad

Worth dropping by, although on a good day, it could get really hot. Also it's open across all 4 seasons, so the effort that goes into maintaining this place is massive. This is also the place where you find all the tourists and it is indeed super touristy! Fuss free to buy tickets onsite at the automated machines.

Colorful and picturesque blooming flower fields that stretch on top of rolling hills slopes. The area is vast and walkable, there are options to rent self driven golf carts or join a tour. Parking and entrance each cost 500 yen and can be paid at the machines. There is a souvenir shop, a small coffee shop and toilets. There is also an alpaca farm, which costs extra, next to the entrance.

I visited here because of a day tour package. You can enjoy snowbiking during winter. They will provide a safety set, including a helmet for your safety. If you aren't a fan of snowbiking, you can go for snow sliding, and equipment rental is 200 yen. It is good for family activities. We enjoyed our time here; it is scenic, surrounded by mountains, and you can have a photo session here as well. Besides, there are kiosks selling baked potatoes with butter, which are a must-try food here as Hokkaido is famous for its potatoes. We tried the regular potato, which cost 200 yen, and it tasted good.

We went at the end of September but there were still a lot of fall flowers. We were worried that there wouldn't be anything to see, so it was very impressive how they meticulously plan for flowers to bloom for as long as they can. Highly recommended.

Truly magnificent and baffling scenery. Went on a sunny day in October. During October there's free admission. You can rent a bike right next to Biei station. You can also rent a quad bike and golf cart to travel around the fields faster. Highly recommended!

The rolling hills have rainbow colors of flowers and plants that create a nice photo palette. There are also enclosures for puppies and alpaca. Entry was free in fall and winter.

Beautiful waterfall with the same beautiful blue water as the Blue Pond down the road. You view the waterfall from a very high bridge and while the waterfall itself is lovely, I thought the surrounding view of the mountains and forests was even more beautiful. Worth stopping by for the views if you're in the area! Parking area was a little unclear.

The waterfalls is a nice scenic item to tick off the list. There not much to do there other than walk along the bridge to see the waterfalls really. You could go to one of the onsens I guess but the main attraction there is the waterfall. The river running below the bridge shows the cloudy blue water which is iconic to the area.

Good place to stop by if you are here for the blue pond, etc. 30 mins walk from the blue pond - or less than 5 mins drive by car. The waterfall was lovely - not too big but strong enough and yet delicate. It also offered a nice view with snowy mountain at the back. You cannot get close to the waterfall - you can see it from the bridge. Pretty empty in end of April, 2021 (though it was weekend). Wish I could see it from different angle too (not only from above but from the riverside, etc.).

This waterfall is a must-visit during the winter season. The frozen ice and snow covering the waterfall, coupled with its stunning never-frozen blue water, is a sight to behold. The clear sky and the beautiful Daisetsuzan mountain range in the backdrop add to the charm of the place. Although the area was initially quite crowded with several tour buses, we were fortunate enough to have the entire place to ourselves once they left.

These waterfalls are rather special as they came out from the cliffs. They made a spectacular sight when you watched them from the iron bridge. Everthough it's already spring, this place was so cold that there were still snow cover found everywhere. Making the place rather picturesque. Furthermore, the setting sun added more colours to the whole place .....it's mesmerising!

This is a nicer alternative no matter the weather. The bridge gives unprecedented access to the falls and it's a soaring beauty. Better yet get a day pass for the onsen right behind it. It's relaxing in the summer rain and perfect for a pass over

It is not a big waterfall but the scenery is amazing as there were mountain views as well. easy to find a parking lot and if you are feeling fit you can consider climbing up the volalcano evacuation centre, 286 steps to the top. the mountain view there is even greater!

I went during winter n it's quite cold.. need to really wear appropriate clothing when heading over. It's nice seeing everything cover in snow, so magical. Won't wanna say whether it's recommended because it's up to individual.

Absolutely breathtaking. I visited this in December Winter so it was extremely cold. I was able to capture quite a few pictures and there was a few tourists. Best shots are on the bridge heading towards Mt.Tokachi. Parking is available and free. Just a 5 min walk to see this. I would recommend this place to visit! 5/5

The parking area very near, easy to access. It’s very windy, full protection recommend when you go on the bridge. The air very cold, and refreshing. The view is stunning.

Gorgeous waterfall with a truss bridge against the snowy mountain backdrop. It is an easy walk from the car park. If you have time, check out the stairs and walk up to the Sabo facility. Fun little work out and very interesting information centre

Very blue water and quite nice to view it from the bridge. There is a gallery with very good illustration of the preventive measures of volcanic activities at the top of the hill if you do not mind to 286 step to reach it.

I haven't discovered much of Hokkaido yet, so was excited when I found this place. It's beautiful, with convenient parking across the street. Not too crowded on a weekday either. It was also rainy the day we went though. The bridge is sturdy but it is built upwards, so may feel weird to some while walking across it. There is also a 286 step staircase close by but it doesn't lead to a nicer view, just a parking lot. It was a nice exercise though! Overall, worth the quick stop to see a beautiful waterfall and river.

The White Beard Waterfall in winter is indeed beautiful. The color of the stream is beautiful, and the small houses nearby have thick cream hats on their heads.

The parking area is foc but it was crowded with other tour buses and tour groups when we visited. There is a short walk after crossing the road down the car/bus park where you will arrive at a metal bridge suspended over the river below. On one side if you look downwards, you will be able to see the majestic waterfall just below with blue water cascading down to join the river as it flows underneath the bridge that you are standing on. Far away in the distance you will be able to see multiple mountains/peaks and even spot one that is smoking continuously! When we visited in 2nd week of oct in mid afternoon, the whole place was teeming with flying lady birds of all colors and sizes. Sadly, due to the sheer number of visitors, many lady birds ended squashed on the bridge. There is a toilet facilities next to the carpark but understandably as this place is heavily visited by tourists, there was a long line of people queueing to use the toilets.

Furano in Summer is a great time to see flowers. I didn't know as I always thought of Hokkaido as a cow and snow kind of place but during my travels around Hokkaido, I found many many flowers in bloom. One great place to see these flowers is Zerubu Hill. The flowers were blossoming in full during August and could easily be seen even from the car park. Parking was free which was nice and and viewing the flowers was also complimentary. I found myself paying to enjoy a short ride on the 4-wheeler and entering the shop for some nice Lavandar ice cream and fresh fresh corn.

Tokachidake, this is one of Japan's 100 famous mountains, is located near Biei's popular spot, The dynamic topography created by the volcano and the majestic scenery where you can see Mt. drove up the mountain. it was really cold and breezy, trust me, if you understand the feeling of flying as the wind blows against you. observatory is filled with gravels and stacked stones (?). observatory offers interesting view. there is a shelter for you to rest/toilet break.

The start of the hike up the volcano on a scenic altitude without trees blocking the view, though most people came here for a photo on the lava rocks field. If you are not up for the hike up the volcano, there's a small trail that goes in a loop just beside and into the alpine forest.

Didn't expect much, but turned out to be an interesting place, contrast from all the flower gardens that we visited that day. Dry rocky slope that offers a hike up a valcano mountain, with smoking craters visible at the top. Good view of the surrounding fields and mountains.

Very good view of the snow-capped Tokachidake mountain ranges. I came here in autumn and encountered raining ice (see video of car in parking lot). Do wear enough clothes to protect against the cold. Besides the parking lot, there is a small house with a food and drink stall (very limited stuff), vending machine, toilets and explanations on how Tokachidake was formed, earthquakes and other information. Great climb with amazing views. Not a beginner level walk if you want to see the crater and there are a lot of hazards, but you can park near the top and have amazing views and just walk up a few hundred meters to stretch your legs and enjoy the views and flora, fauna, and geology.

Visited during summer and was a nice place to walk off around with the kids. The views of the surrounding "patchwork" fields was also great, viewed from the observatory. A good pitstop from biei to asahikawa (15km or so to the town) . You will have to climb to level 2 of the deck to see a paranoma view of the area. The entry is free and car-parking is free too. The park itself has walking routes, but i did not attempt to walk. So im not sure of the quality of walk in the area. There are a few shops opposite the carpark. The shops are closing when we reached around 1645hrs and closed by 1700hrs. Toilets are available here, but kinda of smelly.

we went there during winter, everything was covered with thick ice. all the shop was close and i think we are not suppose to go up the tower is it is slippery and you cant see the path. no one was there, so we decided to go up.

We were there just for the picturesque trees outside (parking is across the street). Great photo opp. But do go into the free museum as you’d be pleasantly surprised by the exhibition (no photos allowed inside though).

Nice place. However, know that a lot of the area is actually off-limits so you can’t really check out the a lot of the farm; only the cheese factory (pretty small) and the cafe. If you’re looking for a hands-on farm experience, this isn’t the place. The dairy products are really good though; almost like drinking cheesecake. WARNING: For their soft-serve ice cream, they only serve it until 1 PM ON TUESDAYS. If you’re heading there on a Tuesday, be aware of that. Cows are cute though. Can’t get close though…*sad moo*
