Hagia Sophia is one of the most important Mosques in İstanbul. This is the second time that my husband and I visit this magnificent place! This mosque has a historic and religious significance. Once was the largest eastern Roman Church. Later was a museum, and since a Turkish top court on July of 2020 reversed the 1934 Cabinet decree which turned Hagia Sophia Mosque into a museum, it has become again in a Mosque. The size of this mosque is enormous and it's interior is so beautiful! As a tourist is important to know that it is necessary to take off the shoes. Women must cover their hair. They must cover also their legs. Therefore, it is recommended to wear a long skirt or pants. Shoes must be removed before entering. During pray hours, tourists must leave the prayer area. I really recommend to visit this magnificent mosque!! It is extraordinary!

Breathtaking place. We went there during a prayer session and we were hesitant that we'd be disturbing the folks. But, everyone was friendly and recognised us that we visitors wouldn't be disturbing them. Some even offered to click pictures of us mid-prayer which was surprising but well appreciated. The history of the mosque was also astonishing and the way the place has been maintained over the years is simply amazing. I wish I had visited this place during the day. I'd have loved to see the exteriors better too.

A must visit when in Istanbul. Its free entry, just make sure ur arms n knees are covered. And carry a head scarf. Its more beautiful on the inside than the outside. Just find a corner, sit and find some peace. U can also adore its beauty sitting in the Sultan Ahmet Square

Prepare to wait in line due to the high volume of tourists and one suggestion is to make it the first early morning stop on our Istanbul city tour. Worth spending some time inside just appreciating the decorations and the ambience. Women must wear a scarf and cover their legs until the ankles.

One of a kind! The first place you should run to see when coming to Istanbul. The moment you step inside it's like you've stepped into a world of amazement. We had to wait around 30 mins to get in at 9am so get there early. The worth is definitely worth it though 10/10 recommended

Beautiful mosque that allows visitors throughout the day. One of only a few that allows non Muslims to go inside. You must take off your shoes and obviously respect the signage and requests from the employees. Saw lots of people who maybe can’t read or maybe didn’t care going into places that were clearly marked off for them or for the general public.

Although it was only just after 9 when we visited, the area was already quite busy but there was no queue so we walked in, removing our shoes and then continuing to the interior of the mosque. The mosque is a seventeenth century building, famed for the interior tile work that gives it the name. Sadly, it was undergoing restoration on this visit so the entire inside was a mass of scaffolding and hessian panelling and almost none of the tiles were visible. The remedial work on the dome was complete but the scaffolding was still there, obscuring any view. We left after a few minutes, replaced our shoes and walked the short distance past the magnificent tulip displays to Hagia Sofia.

I’ve been to Istanbul twice and visiting the blue mosque for its grandeur and beauty is a must for all. I’m always so mesmerized at how beautiful this architectural masterpiece is. The intricate details of the mosque's interior, adorned with blue tiles, creates a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The spacious courtyard just outside allows you to see how big and grand the mosque is. Just plan your trip accordingly as they close entrance doors during prayer time and if you want to go in, please carry a head scarf with you (you can also buy one from the kiosk by the entrance).

First of all, do not visit before 2 pm. It’s filled with tourists and tour operators. Our local guide gave us the trick to visit after 2 pm and there would be no quest to get it. Turned out to be true. From outside this is the most beautiful mosque I have ever seen. You must not miss the mosque during sunset and at night. It gets lit up and astonishing.

They say the place is outstanding but it was closed to construction purpose. I didn't have the chance to see more than just a small area inside and a limited view of the landscape on the outside. There are no words to describe the beauty of this mosque. Although the Mosque was closed for the renovation works but still the place itself is a beauty. The minarets, the architecture of the mosque and the intricate details in the construction of the mosque surprises everyone. It's a must place for anyone who visit Istanbul.

It is a pity to visit it at the time it is under restoration works, which I felt that it could have been done before the tourist flooded into the mosque. The exterior of the mosque is marvelous, but the interior was mostly been blocked up. Ladies do note that you are required to wear a scarf to cover your head as respect to entering the mosque and no shorts. While walking towards the mosque you will be able to see some of the ottoman history left by the destruction from the past. It is a great place to visit, but there is not much to see when there is too many people. Recommended to go at odd timings so not to clash with the crowd.

Like any other place of worship, due respect must be shown. Amazing mosque in Istanbul, Turkey. Also known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque. Admission is free. It will be useful for you to prepare a plastic bag to keep your shoes while entering the mosque. Worth to visit at both daylight or night, equally beautiful with different feel. Better to go early in the morning as it starts to get very crowded in this area towards noon and evening.

I experienced it for the second time, here, once in 2013 and this year. This ottoman architecture is quite fascinating. Its blue tiles are favorite to me and make this unique. It is almost untouched by the multitude of earthquakes that have occurred till date. This made me curious regarding its architecture. Even at the second visit I found it having the same level of awe and attraction for me. This is the magic that brings everyone come here. But to avoid big crowds ( those who come here for prayers), any tourist must visit during the lunch hour.

I went to this mosque on a weekday evening, so there weren't many people there. The outside of the mosque looks beautiful! The interior is unremarkable. Anyway, if you're in the neighborhood, be sure to admire this attraction from the outside and go inside.

My FAVORITE Mosque! The architecture is breathtaking! Everyone is extremely nice, and they even have volunteers who will answer any questions you have about the religion or Mosque. Also, being there during Ramadan and hearing the "Call to Prayer" was definitely a once in a lifetime experience. I just can't stress enough to please respect the rules they have in place. This is a beautiful site, but it is also a place of worship for so many individuals. So enjoy the site, but remember to respect it.

I was completely mesmerized by the beauty of the Blue Mosque, both inside and outside, during both daylight and at night. And it’s free! Though both men and women can have access to the entire area outside of the prayer times, it’s a shame that when it’s time for the prayer, the area reserved for women is very small. I wish the authority were more mindful of this. You need to take your shoes off as it is carpeted inside, though they have dedicated shoe racks for the tourists. You can take your tripods inside unlike in Hagia Sophia. Remember to maintain Islamic attire to access the main prayer area. Women need to cover their heads and both men and women need to cover below knees. If you don’t have a scarf with you, they will provide one for rent free of cost. The tile work and lighting inside are wonderful and very picturesque. I've noticed many tourists in large guided tour groups. However, in my opinion, if you looked up the mosque's history online or in books, you could easily grasp it yourself as it's not that complicated. That's how you could visit the mosque in a quieter style and have all the time to yourself. Find a quiet corner, take a seat, and spend time admiring the beautiful ceiling and walls. It opens at 8:30 in the morning, but tourists start queuing up even earlier. So try to arrive by 8:00 for the best use of your time. The mosque closes to visitors during prayer times, which may vary on different days and months, so it's best to check beforehand. While it's great to visit during the day, don't miss the chance to enter the courtyard at night (no queues at night!). The lighting in the courtyard at night is breathtaking, and the seagulls flying overhead look like pearls in the beautiful night light. But don’t be too late! You can only enter the courtyard at night when the main gate is open for prayer time. During this time, if you're not entering the carpeted prayer hall, you don’t need to adhere to Islamic attire. However, be cautious because there may be random beggars approaching you to scam you while you're sitting in the courtyard at night. They may claim to be Syrian refugees, but I believe they are part of larger syndicates trying to scam tourists. Avoid talking to them and just ignore them.

The mosque is fully functioning, thus you might be asked to leave during the prayer time, but no one will force you to. This place is worth visiting. The mosque was built in 1617, but it is so we'll preserved. You can see, that local people take exquisitely good care of it. The Blue Mosque is free to visit, no need to line up, just make sure to cover your shoulders, wear long pants and a scarf on your head if you are a woman. In case you came unprepared, there's a booth on the right side from the main entrance, nearby the bathroom, where you can get some clothes to cover yourself. I definitely recommend to visit this historical building to feel the atmosphere of Istanbul.

This place is spectacular! Very dramatic and unique architectural design. Can not imagine how this place is well conserved. Each column structure has a very remarkable character. Very spacious and self-guided once you enter. It would have been nice if they offer a recorded audio tour to give people the opportunity to learn more about the place. If you want to skip the line highly recommend purchasing your tickets online. Also, note there is no restroom on site.

Amazing experience! I'm so happy we were able to visit the Basilica without a huge line. Buy your tickets in advance. We used a local guide, and it helped with the overall experience. It's not necessary, but you can negotiate with them since they are standing outside the ticket lines. Don't rush yourself inside even though there's too many people walking around inside. It's a little difficult to take pictures, but you can be patient to get some good shots. Highly recommended coming here if you are in the historical area of Istanbul.

A 1,500 year old solution to supply water to the people of Istanbul is amazing to see. Get there before 9am to avoid the queues, you will only be in there for around fifteen to twenty minutes, so you don't want to waste all your time queuing. The water level inside is kept low so that people don't drown, but when it was in use, it used to hold 80,000,000 litres. As you go down the stairs, you get to a walk level where you can see the vast area that once used to be filled with water. There is little information inside, you have to use your imagination. However, well worth a visit.

This is a very popular tourist attraction and the line to get in can be very long. We were very lucky and we got in almost without a wait, because the people stood at the line with online tickets and we walked to the ticket office without any problem. Just be aware of which line you need to go, because the signs are small and people don't pay attention. The inside is very humid and hot, even with autumn temperatures outside, it's better to have layers of clothes, otherwise it's going to be a hard time inside.

What a special place. It's awesome to step in such an ancient monument where it was built to bring in a necessary resource. It was busy but worth it and I also was there on a weekend. The Cistern was so calm and quiet. It was amazing to see the workmanship of an ancient people still accessible today. One of the best places I went in Istanbul.

To be honest, you can hate me for this review and It's the first place in an entire Istanbul which I'm not giving the respect it should get but I really think it's the most unnecessarily hyped place in Istanbul. Yeah you're walking above the water, and it feels very wet. But if it has any history which is in there, I'd like to know from someone by any chance. The place is a nice engineering work. However, it is without a guide or audio explanation, and without additional value it does not worth the money (120 TL). You will just enter, see a 5 minutes video with light effect on the walls and columns, listen at audio effects and music. This can be the same with video online. Unfortunately I feel no additional value was provided. The place has history, people are interested in knowing something. If I would like to be impressed I would've go to magic tricks show. 4 stars to the place itself, 1 star for the added value.

This is a must see when in Istanbul Turkey. The weekend we were here, there was a wait line but it moves pretty fast. We waited for our guide ans watched the people in line. If you want to bypass the line you need a tour guide. They will charge you for the tickets and tour 15-25 US per person. We only have 3 days here so the tour guide made sense. Beautiful cistern, 336 columns in total. They just renovated, and improved the walking platforms, made them higher. During contraction there was some modern art added. Looks amazing along with the original artifacts. Since the renovation, the entrance is at the side if the main building. Not the little one. It's just around the corner. 20 second walk. There are security guards that will help you. If meeting a guide, make sure you know where you meet them.

Very beautiful place. The lighting makes the place more mysterious. Not sure about all the sculptures though. The place would probably be prettier if less tourists. But I guess many people come for its beauty. There are private tourist guides at the entrance that you can pay to get in quicker.

Istanbul amazes you with every place you visit. it can be seen that they were a great empire. his remains can be seen all over the city. the cisterns are also part of the city's history and how beautiful they are! you can't miss this place! whether or not you are passionate about art or engineering, this place cannot fail to impress you. the idea of colored lights is welcome, as are art exhibitions and concerts. we entered with a guide through the istanbul tourist pass, we only waited 10 minutes at the entrance. I recommend!

A must see and experience for anyone interested in history of Istanbul. The wait-in-line is worth it, as is the price (450 TL). It is by far a once in a life time experience. There are some annoying tourists posing for selfies, clogging up the views and the passage... So maybe walk around them, or wait until they are finished boosting their self esteem.

Amazing place to visit if you are a fan of ancient history. It cost 450 lira per person and you can purchase the ticket at the entrance. The queue is normally long during the day. I visited it on Saturday at 1800 and didnt have to queue at all. Inside, it is dark and humid with amazing lighting. There are some arts installation at the time i visited it. Most of the crowd gather around the Medusa head but there is no problem to take picture there. Expect to get some drops of water dripping onto your head

For those planning a visit, while the waiting lines might seem daunting, a convenient workaround is to purchase your tickets online. At $25.00 per person, the tickets were quite reasonable, especially considering the unique experience it offers. When we visited, it was surprisingly not crowded, which greatly enhanced the overall experience. The Basilica Cistern presents a surreal atmosphere that's unlike anything I've ever seen. The combination of the dim lighting, the still water reflecting the ceiling, and the rows of ancient pillars creates a scene right out of a fantasy novel. The tranquility of the place allows for a very relaxing visit. With the sparse crowd, we had ample privacy to take photos, capturing the eerie beauty of this underground marvel without interruption. The serene environment, coupled with the architectural and historical significance of the cistern, makes for a truly enchanting experience. I strongly recommend taking your time to soak in the atmosphere of the Basilica Cistern. Rushing through would only rob you of the full experience this ancient wonder has to offer. Absolutely gorgeous! Note, many say to purchase tickets online. We could not find the website, but maybe were stupid :-) we did have a long line which wrapped around the building when we got there. However, the line goes very fast! It’s not such a big deal to wait. We also did not get a guide, although they were several that were offering their services. It is so beautiful and cool and damp inside. It was amazing to think that this Fed fall of Constantinople! We had calculated that the water would last about a week for 1 million people.

Exceptional experience that is full of historical value. It is a true marvel to think that civilizations from many years ago were able to build such vast underground water storage network. This site is also an exciting fusion of past and present as the historical cistern is full of modern sculptures that reflect the identity of a young and fresh Turkiye. However, please be aware that the queues to undergo security checks and enter can be very long and that it is quite slippery inside due to minimal railings. Mysterious place where you should definitely go especially if you watched Inferno movie. I brought my friends from Kazakhstan. Before it was just cistern for gathering drinking water, now more like a museum. You can see also some sculptures from modern artists that match with the style. And one of the most interesting columns is those with the head of Medusa. Actually there are two columns, go and see by yourself 😉

I liked this place so much, although it is not big and needs not more than 15-20 mins, but very worth it for the history lovers like me. It was the roman longest water supply line back in time, all the place is built on water, the lights added inside is giving the columns a majestic look more than they already are. I would recommend to limit the number of visitors and kids inside for a better experience and maybe more information/explanation boards.. The place is accessible for wheelchairs. I recommend you to check it out, one good place for tourists 👍🏼

A magical place! It's difficult to comprehend the effort it took to build this. From the amount of digging by hand that was needed to carrying these gigantic pillars down to lifting them up and in position. And the pillars seem like they were of different height so they also needed to level them. Astonishing! And the way they are lit up adds to the mysterious atmosphere. There were also thousands of people down there when we went and we still felt the crowd only at the entrance. Once inside - it's massive and we were able to take photos and feel like there are only a handful of people. The reason I'm taking a star off is because of the price. 25 euro admission is too high for this place where you have about 30-40 minutes top if you want to wander around and explore. 10-12 euro would be more adequate.

I always loved this place. Now they have added nice ambient lighting that rotates between warm and cold colours and minimalist sculptures. Make sure you have an additional layer of clothing as it might get colder downstairs. Queue for entry is shorter for online bought tickets.

Truely a must see in Istanbul. I really enjoyed this tour. What time did just right and got there first thing in the morning and that is what I would highly recommend you do. There was not very many people. I can understand where some people would not find this very interesting place to go to but I feel it's definitely worth in the pictures that everybody takes speak volumes of how amazing this place is.

Incredible cistern that was built at 600 AD to store water. This is really impressive if you consider the volume of water it could hold. It is for sure a must visit if you are in Istanbul! I totally recommend it. It is a pity though because all the marble columns were taken from Ancient Greek temples! That’s why it was built so fast.

Fascinating place. They have several lighting options and have added some elegant statues. It is will preserved for its age. Good to visit early morning before it gets crowded.

Yes, the entry price is high (600 TL in March 2024) but I hadn't seen another place like that before. There are many points that offer a good photo option. I could tell that the Instagramers loved it. Try visiting a concert there it would be great, we heard some musicians making a sound check for a private event and it was very nice.

Awesome place with a mysterious atmosphere. It’s really incredible how something like this was build 1500 years ago and its ability to store 100 thousand liters of water. I would love to see more art pieces there as well, the different color lights were making every piece look interesting and unique. Keep in mind you won’t have any phone connection inside. The whole walk won’t take you longer than half an hour. There’s no bathroom inside as well. If you u get a ticket online you can skip the queue. Don’t miss the Medusas, get are truly amazing. Take some time to take beautiful pictures when the lightings are changing. The water reflection will give you some natural special effects ✨ I honestly liked it, the price of 17€ was not bad, but in my opinion 10 would be sufficient.

Amazing place, atmosphere, good condition of the palace, park, museums. Huge respect to authorities, who saved historical value of Istanbul in general and in this palace. This place is impressive, many relics and valuables have been preserved. However it is a pity that we cannot see rooms, furniture, the personal belongings of the sultanas were not preserved, and in general they lived very close, as lots of people come to see life of Osman family

One of the best places to visit in istanbul. You will need at least 4-5 hours to properly visit this place. The history is well preserved. Islamic relics section is mind blowing with such a rare, historic and significant collection. Highly recommended.

Stunning place and a must see if you are visiting İstanbul. The clothes displayed in the galleries were really impressive. So much to see here and do. Beautiful gardens. Many coffee shops and toilets available to use. Stunning views of the city

Also a must visit. We arranged a skip the line and 1 hour tour with guide. I was very glad I did because I would have missed too much. The palace is huge. Most is included just not the Hareem part for which you have to pay extra. Visiting it thoroughly would easily take half a day. I was very very impressed and it was all well maintained and incredibly interesting. Highly recommended.

Must see in Istanbul. Centuries of amazing history, so many interesting artifacts and rooms, salons and exhibitions. Worth every penny to visit it. Only snack bar and cafe is outside the palace. Toilets are fairly clean, given the number of visitors.

I recommend buying tickets in advance because my family made the mistake of waiting at a ticket pass seller just for them to tell us that the tickets to enter the museum were inside, aside from that the museum was really pretty and the gardens looked amazing during this season (summer). There were some places where the lines were so long I couldn't enter but that's because I went on a weekend. Overall it was very pleasant experience.

Absolutely breath-taking! A stunning palace built over 4 courtyards, each in different styles and architecture echoing the different eras the Sultans who owned and occupied the palace over 4 centuries. The gardens are so peaceful, views over Istanbul and The Bosphorous stunning and the beauty of each building, both exterior and interior amazing! I'd recommend booking in advance to 'skip the queue, and have a guided tour allowing access to all areas'.

It's beautiful and a must visit. You need to buy tickets to get into it. It could take 4-6h easily to check out everything. Bring food as it's going to take a lot of time to see all the things and there are no good food options inside. You need to buy another ticket if you want to check the harem that according to our guide could take another 2-3h to visit.

A must visit!!! And don’t miss the Harem, the price is worth it. The beauty of the place is out of this world. I loved the holy part very much, don’t miss it either. I will recommend to start this museum first thing in your day at the opening time. We spent the whole day there, went at 10 and lest 16:00. There is lot to see.

If you come to Istanbul make sure you to visit Topkapi Palace. You will see many artifacts in great condition from the Sultans during the Ottoman Empire periods. You can plan to spend about 3 hours inside taking your time to walk around. I was surprised to see how preserved the clothing of the Sultans was. Such grand and wealth! Wow

Such a beautiful Palace to visit. They have put a lot of effort into making the place fun and interesting and it has some of the most fantastic views of Istanbul. While a bit expensive you do get a LOT for your ticket and can easily spend a few hours wandering around! From original clothes to holy relics , the place has it all.

The palace is majestically placed on one of the highest points in Istanbul and surrounded by beautiful gardens. Make sure you have enough time and energy to explore the grounds fully. Essential to have a guide to explain the various areas or rooms. Many of the walls or gates are adorned with Arabic Calligraphy. The design, architecture and layout combine the various cultures that have occupied the country.

If you want to visit any great old places, that's it. Take a ticket for 950 TL to get access to the whole territory of the amazing rooms with a lot of staff, which were made 7 BCE and even older. Everyone can find something interesting here.

Beautiful place to visit and to learn about the history of the sultans living here. This trip can take up to 3 hours. Be aware that for visiting the ancient brothel you will have to pay extra. If you are into history and culture. Its a must see! Please not that on hot days you best bring a bottle of water with you.

A great place to learn more about how the Sultans and their families used to live. I enjoyed walking around the beautiful gardens and the calm patios. The only thing I didn't like was the audio guide, it was terrible to identify which number contained the information about the site you were at. I recommend at least 3 to 4 hours to visit this place. ☺️

One of the most important palaces in Istanbul. It deserves at least half a day to visit. Each museum/ show room has something meaningful to present. There are some holy collections and presentation rooms. Highly recommended. Better do some research before visiting or download museum app or find a tour guide.

the palace is gigantic, if you want to visit everything in detail and carefully, go in the morning as it will take you all day to see everything. It's unbelievable how the value for tourists of all the monuments is absurdly expensive, and for citizens it is more than 10x cheaper. I have never seen any other country doing this. It is worth buying a ticket to see the palace, Hagia Irene is not worth it, there is nothing inside, and it is under renovation, it will take you 5 minutes to see the walls. The palace is very interesting, it is worth visiting.

3.5 stars The grounds are beautiful, extremely well-maintained. The palace is beautiful, and so are the palace gardens. There are some stunning views from there too. However, I believe the ticket is extremely overpriced. It was my sense (and the group I was with also agreed) that this should cost around 20 EUR. The ticket costs double. There’s very little “life” and interest added to the museum, it’s almost just all “bare” palace - beautiful but a bit lifeless. In the library there were some wax figures, so if there was something like that in every room with objects and clothing from that time - perhaps it would bring the experience a bit more to life and justify the extremely high price. Perhaps some more videos, interactive spaces… Overall a beautiful space but overpriced without the added effort. We also thought it was overcrowded, at times we couldn’t see things due to the amount of people in a single room. Perhaps if the amount of people was limited to a certain number of people every day (like Machu Picchu) it would be better.

Give yourself at least a couple of hours. It is easy to imagine sultans, concubines, royal family, soldiers and eunuchs inhabiting this spaces. Beautiful views of the Bosporus. There are rooms with sultans robes, fine jewelry and jewels, thrones and lots of couches. Be sure to make sure your ticket includes the concubines quarters which was very interesting.

Nice visit especially treasury rooms. Come for the opening to have less croud. You need 2-3 hours if you take time to stop and follow the audio guide. We made it against the cloak starting by harem. Beginning of afternoon too much people.

This place is great to buy souvenirs but be mindful of how crowded it may be. So many stores offer the same and you'll have to show off your best negotiation skills to get the best deals. I recommend looking for the same product on different stores and comparing prices. Some of the salespeople are very polite and relaxed but some others will jump over you if they see you pointing towards some item with your finger. The main aisle (date of review: March 2022) was under reparation and made it a little less comfortable to walk around. Buy souvenirs here, but watch out with the carpets, they don't necessarily offer the best prices in Istambul.

It's actually not what I expected. I was expecting a rather grand, high ceiling bazaar with a rustic feel. This is not. It is full of little shops which felt quite modern. It is a huge indoor market, but it feels more like a shopping centre than a market. I did get some bargains, but there are a lot of stores that sell the exact same stuff as the one next to it.

Very busy place, closing at 7pm, keep in mind. Good vibe am around, lots of nice shops but there are better places to shop around, specially on the Asia side. Very expensive especially if you're a tourist, they make up the prices depending where you're from like a waistcoat for £165, even in UK it's not that expensive, ridiculous prices for tourist. But the building itself is worth the walk around, stunning architecture and very large in size. Worth a visit but the aware of prices of things.

This is one of my favorites spot visited in Istanbul, the place is full of people with lovely boutiques and shops. There is everything you need of here, perfect if you like shopping or buying some souvenirs. You should not miss this place when you are visiting Istanbul city. Anyone who comes here needs to have good bargaining skills. That’s the fun part of shopping here. But overall there are things here you can’t buy anywhere else. We walked through and bought so many things like prayer rugs and souvenirs. They also have spices and juice shops you can get fresh juice at. Watch them juice a whole pomegranate and enjoy the freshness of the juice. You can’t find this anywhere else. I took my mom here and she loved every minute of it. She will be back, probably just to come back to the bazaar.

One of most famous visited places in Istanbul. Yet consider one of the best place to experience locals. This is consider tourist bazaar and one of the tourism places yet full of locals too. With 4000 shops here... You will absolutely can waste your time for more than 3 hours to explore at almost everything. From spices to jewellery, fabrics, souvenirs, restaurants and home decorations all are here. Easy excess by public transportation. Know which gate you are going in from as it could be a bit confusing. Money changer and machine at convenient both outside and inside this place. Most of the shops offered same products but different quality and prices. Try your best bargain technique here to get the best. As this is tourist place and with too many people do extra care of your belonging.

A large shopping mall, so nothing really to see. Many stores with all the same things: jewelry, rugs, tea & Turkish delight. Designed to part tourists from their money. Merchants are unscrupulous. Prices are very high. If you visit, plan not to buy. Beware and avoid!

The Grand Bazaar in Istanbul Turkey is worth the visit for the visual feast it provides. And maybe you will find a few things that catch your eye and will make a great souvenir. Just be prepared to haggle your pants off, because it is obviously geared towards tourists, and the prices usually start much higher than what it's worth. Regardless I would recommend going just for the experience of seeing the huge variety of goods for sale, and the way some of the shops are set up to show off their goods. Go. Enjoy. Have fun with haggling, and be prepared to say no thank you, and walk away if you feel like you are being taken advantage of.

Beautiful and historical place. The building is amazing. The atmosphere is the one of a modern mall, with the addition of vendors that want to drag you in every shop trying to sell you something by pretending to not wanting selling you anything. Already by the mosque you find people who want to give you direction to the Bazar, as if you can't walk straight on your own 🤦🏾‍♀️ and they ask you what you want to buy, so that they can try to drag you to some uncle/brother/father or family shop. Very annoying.

It is one of the neatest places I have been to. These gentlemen can teach a lesson in sales. They love to haggle and are disappointed if you don't. Not intimidating at all if you just have fun with it like they do.

It is a unique experience. You should give a chance to Turkish delight shops that are offering samples. I do not recommend to go on weekends or during public holidays. It is impossible to walk through the crowd. If you are not going to purchase any specific thing or some souvenirs, it would be enough to have a short walk inside.

Always great to explore the area. Apparently more then 4000 shops are squeezed under one roof. It did change a lot in last 20 years. Much more sweets and spice shops and less original shops selling authentic Turkish products. But still nice to walk around feeling the wibe of trading. Stile very safe and clean and lovely to see that a lot of roof painting refurbishment has been done.

Grand bazaar is the oldest and largest covered market in the world. It’s known to be the oldest mall in the world. It’s an amazing place to visit. There are many amazing handmade and cultural items there. Many great Turkish sweets and delights. One tip to foreign visitors is to avoid eye contact with the sellers. If you make eye contact, they’ll make you buy something. 😁 They are great at convincing you to buy by giving you great discounts. If you have hard time saying no, just keep your eyes on the items.

An old bazaar with several hundred year old ancestry, where now only modern stuff is sold. It is a well-visited bazaar with a lot of shops. Very many of the stores target their products to foreign customers and are quick to drive a sale, which can feel somewhat annoying. Relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the bazaar. This is really a must see in Istanbul.

The grander and pricier of the bazaars. We had little opportunity to explore it as the bazaar closes at 8, unlike the 10pm mentioned on Google. Still, they had an ample variety of artifacts, carpets, delights and spices. However, their asking prices are much higher, at times 5-8x the prices we got quoted in spice Bazaar or the Sultanahmet area shops. So be ready for really hard bargaining to get any decent deals.

Such an experience! We were expecting an outside bazaar but it is actually under cover and mostly all shops/huts rather than stands within. Really great place to shop for authentic Turkish souvenirs or fake designer bags! They really has it all, they had an area for gold and silver, bed sheets, nightwear, footwear, and for real leather etc etc. could get lost for hours!

Indeed a labyrinth of shops where you can buy literally anything related to the Turkish culture. It’s busy but it’s fun. Remember to bring currency in cash and to have fun with some healthy bargaining. Most shopkeepers know English which is good. A good place to get lost within.

The small stalls outside on the way to the Spice Market have lots of knockoffs that you can bargain for.

Centuries old Bazaar/Souq/ Market will not disappoint you in any way, whether you are planning to souvenirs or any of hundreds of things available in this vibrantly busy Market. Tip: You should be good at bargaining. You should not try to reach here using your own or rented car as parking near this area always occupied and paid ones will cost 5-6 times higher than your Metro cost.

Huge marketplace. All shops have their own underground spaces that has more things to sell. It's true that the prices here is much more than the ones outside, even with hard bargain. All sellers are nice if you only asked for price and not buying, but of course yiu need to be nice as well. Anyway the building structure is ancient and historic.

Beautiful! One of the must-see Mosques in Istanbul. There is a nice view as well that over looks the Asian side. Also, a beautiful cemetery and Sultan Suleyman's and Roxelana'd Burial Tombs. Some tips for tourists - it's free to enter, there is a tourist entrance, don't go during prayer times, it'll be closed (but it'll give you time to admire the cemetery and Burial tombs. They have skirts and scarfs to borrow; no one can have knees or shoulders showing, and woman must cover their hair. If you borrow these items, you'll be asked to leave your shoes outside with the attendant. Otherwise, take off your shoes before entering and put them in the shoe shelf on the left / right side as you enter.

Stunning mosque with a beautiful courtyard. The interior is out of this world. We arrived at 8-45 and were the only people there to start with. Get there early before the crowds arrive. İt was a walk uphill to get there but was definitely worth it, an absolutely beautiful mosque inside and out. We could see this mosque from the terrace of our hotel ( Bonami Hotel) it looked superb both morning and night

While perhaps not as famous as the Blue Mosque also known as the Sultan Ahmed l Mosque, the Suleymaniye Mosque is definitely worth a visit. It's one of the biggest mosques in Istanbul but for all that, it doesn't attract the crowds that the Blue Mosque does. The first time I visited it was on a very hot day in September 2017 and to sit in a cool and peaceful place and just relax was a welcome diversion. The architecture is simply exquisite and you cannot help but admire its beauty regardless of your religion or beliefs.

When I visit the Süleymaniye Mosque, a captivating atmosphere surrounds me with every step. First, my eyes discover the towering minarets and magnificent domes of the mosque. This structure reflects the grandeur of the Ottoman Empire and its rich history. As I step inside the mosque, I am enchanted by the spaciousness and elegance of the interior. My eyes are drawn to the intricate embellishments on the ceilings and the colorful stained glass windows, where light dances within the mosque. It truly makes me feel like I am in a spiritual environment. I see people lining up in rows to worship. Each person is here with their own intentions, seeking inner peace. At this moment, I share the same purpose. The silence and tranquility of the mosque help fill me with a sense of profound depth. This mosque is not only unique for its religious significance but also as a part of Turkish culture. The place I am in is steeped in history, evoking a sense of connection to the roots of the people who have lived on this land. Being in the Süleymaniye Mosque takes me on a journey into the past, reviving the splendor of the Ottoman Empire. As I relive this memory, a deep sense of respect and admiration wells up within me. I am captivated by the enchantment of the Süleymaniye Mosque, and I long to immerse myself in this spiritual experience even more by offering prayers or getting lost in my thoughts for a moment. This memory makes it an unforgettable experience for me each time.

Beautiful, gorgeous and breath taking to see how much work been done on details. Had seen it through documentaries and pictures for years, glad to be able to see it up close finally. Staff and securities were serious but at the same time helpful.

An architectural masterpiece! A beautiful mosque to just walk around with stunning views of the city. I would highly recommend a detour to visit this place. There were no queues to enter, but wear appropriate clothing as with any place of worship.

In the tranquil morning hours, we took a leisurely walk to the location. It was pleasantly uncrowded, and I must say, the cemetery area is truly a sight to behold. Its serene beauty adds to the charm of this place.

The Süleymaniye Mosque designed by the imperial architect Mimar Sinan is considered a masterpiece of Ottoman architecture. From this location you can enjoy one of the best-known sights of Istanbul. We spent two hours here. There is no entrance fee. Women should cover their hair, shoulders and legs - don’t wear leggings or shorts. Highly recommend 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

I went up the hill from the north side, through winding streets and narrow alleys, and at the end of the road the massive complex with the mosque in the middle. The tile work around the main fountain is simply exquisite, and the domes are richly decorated. Great place to take in the view of Beyoğlu and the Golden Horn. Don't forget to visit the mausoleum too!

A must-see place when visiting Istanbul, extremely beautiful sights to see, amazing architecture from the ancient Ottoman times. The mosque is free to enter, just take off your shoes first😉. There are also lots of stray dogs and cats that come here to cool down on the marble floors, and to get some food and water too, they're all friendly.

One of the greatest spots I visited in Istanbul ! A very peaceful garden where you can have a rest, grab a snack and spend the afternoon time. You will enjoy the air freshness, the view and tranquility. The mosque area is very welcoming, don’t hesitate to visit it, “appropriate” clothes are available at its entrance. We have been allowed to assist to the prayer time and after. The architecture of the monument is very beautiful, made by Mimar Sinan a genius of his time. If you like peaceful places, I recommend to spend a few hours there to read a book or let the kids enjoy the huge and safe space. It’s free, enjoy it!

Best mosque I have visited in Istanbul! Superb view, not that crowded, well maintained and quite chill. Inside, there is a tablet which gives more context to parts of the mosque. Within the area, there are also several legit eateries that sell doners and kebabs (delicious and cheap).

Really pretty mosque 😍 I'm in love. The patterns on the wall and roof was different from the other mosques I saw in Istanbul, so it is interesting to look at. And there is a beautiful city view behind the mosque. Lovely place. The toilet and ablution area was very clean and comfortable

Beautiful Mosque to visit, its located 15mins away from the Grand bazaar, i personally walked to it, i got the chance to discover shops and markets surrounding the Mosque. There is not entry fee or tickets to enter everyone is welcome to visit it at anytime, at the garden you can enjoy the city view of Istanbul and the cruises, its surrounded by domes and beautiful scenery of the city. You can also find the sultan’s tomb next to the mosque and other graveyards which were beautifully carved with nice writings.

Nice place to visit, there is a quieter atmosphere here than other mosques in Istanbul. It feels good and it's beautiful. The tomb of the Sultan, his family, of Hürrem was impressive to see.

This mosque is worth a visit. The views across the water are really good. Outside the small trees have been shaped. Inside the design patterns are really nice.

Probably one of the most important mosques of Istanbul, designed and built by Sinan The Architect in the name of one of the well known sultans of Ottomans, Sultan Suleiman. It's located in a beautiful sight looking over to the Golden Horn, Haliç and Galata Tower (Pera). The mosque is one of the best examples of classical ottoman architecture. It has a huge garden, surrounded by some nice stores. There is a design museum, a row of stores recently opened to Mimar Sinan Street underneath it. Must see place and it's not as crowded as any place located near Topkapı Palace etc.

Hagia Sophia is one of the most important Mosques in İstanbul. This is the second time that my husband and I visit this magnificent place! This mosque has a historic and religious significance. Once was the largest eastern Roman Church. Later was a museum, and since a Turkish top court on July of 2020 reversed the 1934 Cabinet decree which turned Hagia Sophia Mosque into a museum, it has become again in a Mosque. The size of this mosque is enormous and it's interior is so beautiful! As a tourist is important to know that it is necessary to take off the shoes. Women must cover their hair. They must cover also their legs. Therefore, it is recommended to wear a long skirt or pants. Shoes must be removed before entering. During pray hours, tourists must leave the prayer area. I really recommend to visit this magnificent mosque!! It is extraordinary!

Breathtaking place. We went there during a prayer session and we were hesitant that we'd be disturbing the folks. But, everyone was friendly and recognised us that we visitors wouldn't be disturbing them. Some even offered to click pictures of us mid-prayer which was surprising but well appreciated. The history of the mosque was also astonishing and the way the place has been maintained over the years is simply amazing. I wish I had visited this place during the day. I'd have loved to see the exteriors better too.

A must visit when in Istanbul. Its free entry, just make sure ur arms n knees are covered. And carry a head scarf. Its more beautiful on the inside than the outside. Just find a corner, sit and find some peace. U can also adore its beauty sitting in the Sultan Ahmet Square

Prepare to wait in line due to the high volume of tourists and one suggestion is to make it the first early morning stop on our Istanbul city tour. Worth spending some time inside just appreciating the decorations and the ambience. Women must wear a scarf and cover their legs until the ankles.

One of a kind! The first place you should run to see when coming to Istanbul. The moment you step inside it's like you've stepped into a world of amazement. We had to wait around 30 mins to get in at 9am so get there early. The worth is definitely worth it though 10/10 recommended

Beautiful mosque that allows visitors throughout the day. One of only a few that allows non Muslims to go inside. You must take off your shoes and obviously respect the signage and requests from the employees. Saw lots of people who maybe can’t read or maybe didn’t care going into places that were clearly marked off for them or for the general public.

It forms part of the continental boundary between Asia and Europe, and divides Turkiye by separating Anatolia from Thrace. It is the world's narrowest strait used for international navigation. All tourists visiting Istunbul must enjoy this by riding cruise trip. It provides excellent pictorial points. It gives an exceptional view of the city on both sides of Bosphorus Strait.

Had a beautiful experience in the Bosphorus area and cruising through it. We did the cruise in the evening time from when it was bright under the sun till it got dark and the shades changed into night lights. Would definitely recommend, both sides of the Bosphorus have lots of iconic monuments and views to watch out for.

The Bosphorus Strait is classified as international navigation, and the movement of ship is one of the most important sea navigation points in the world. The number of vessels passersby in 2003 was about 47,000 ship than 8,000 ship carrying serious materials (Lasificos, Oil ... etc.), In 2004, the number of vessels passed through the top and reached more than 53,000 vessels.

You can’t just visit Istanbul without experiencing a tour or a soirée aboard a Bosphorus cruise, sailing through the Eurasian sea that splits two continents. A must do! I’ve enjoyed experiencing both, I had a morning tour and a soirée later on, our lunch and dinner were even included too.

If you ever come to Turkey, you must visit Bosporus, which is a natural strait and an internationally significant waterway located in northwestern Turkey. You can see a lot of summer villas located along the coast, as well as the yachts the villa owners own. You can visit Bosporus by taking a boat tour, which takes approximately 90 minutes.

I tried getting tickets online; multiple fails. The line for tickets was long, but moved pretty swiftly. Some people tried jumping the line - much to their credit, the ticket counter sent them to the back of the line. They control entry well so it doesn't get over crowded. The views are amazing; as you would expect. The next best thing is all the history on different floors as you walk down - so skip the elevator on the way out (unless absolutely necessary). Great price; 175TL, approximately $9. From our hotel it is a little difficult to walk, but still doable. Definitely worth it.

This once was a tower built by Emperor Justinian, it had tons of different owners and survived time. I bought a ticket to go up to the top and it is totally worth it. It is a bit of a climb to the top but once you get there it is absolutely worth it. You see an amazing view of the river, the other side of the city and you can just see the busyness from a birds eye view. Also cool on the way down you can see lots of history about the tower and the streets around it are super lively.

The best time to visit is during sunset and it's bit crowded, and you can enjoy a view of the Istanbul cityscape. You'll be able to spot the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia from here. If you want to avoid waiting in line, online tickets are available at a slightly higher price. The queues move quickly. Lifts are also available to go up, and if requested, you can come down by lift; otherwise, you'll need to descend using the stairs.

The tower quite far from tram station, so I had to walked up the hill to reach the tower. I recommend to buy the ticket in advance to avoid the long wait in the entrance. You can take the lift to go up, but only stairs to go down. The view from the top was truly amazing, you can see almost all parts of the city of Istanbul. There are some interesting exhibitions on each floor, mostly about the history of the tower

I don’t really recommend unless you REALLY want to go. Prices differ if you’re a resident (30-60TL) or a tourist (650TL). Personally, I don’t think it was worth the money especially since they are doing construction on the top/outdoor level so it’s closed off. If you do go, make sure you take the stairs and not the elevator because the in between floors have some views and artifacts and the stairs are neat. Overall, cool views, nice architecture but not an amazing experience and probably wouldn’t go again.

One of the most popular and must-visit attractions in Istanbul. Beautiful 360 views of the city. I went there last evening and took some beautiful golden hour and night shots of the city. You can visit anytime but I would suggest visiting at last evening when there will be less crowd and you can take some nice photos of the city.

Really nice. Went while it rained which I liked. The misses thought it would be taller 🤣🤣. Was really nice and cost 175TL (ticket only) per person which is an okay price. But the views were really nice with free binoculars stands to really enjoy the view. Staff were friendly but the views are great. Would recommend coming early morning to avoid the cues and get the good views

This is literally the most beautiful part of Istanbul in my opinion. This tower has magic in its height, shape and position. You could see the whole Istanbul from the top of it. The top of the tower contains a 360 degree balcony that gives access to the whole view of Istanbul. The top floor is a space for meditation, contemplation and mindfulness. The neighbourhood is the coolest one in the entire city.

Must place to visit during your trip to Istanbul. It has a lift to go up to the top of tower, view is commendable from top. It has beautiful vibrant streets around. Amazing cafes with delicious turkish food.

Sadly during my visit to the most famous tower, it was under construction :( I wish I had the chance to view Istanbul from above. All that I was honored to do was enjoying the photo session around. If you wish to enjoy your visit there, do not go during the weekends!!!!!

It has nice architecture and atmosphere is cool. If you are going there don’t forget to have a cai from nearby restaurant and feel the atmosphere while relaxing. Streets are very nice and walk to there is a walk to remember.

Absolutely a must see. It's an iconic landmark and the view from the top is breathtaking. You can walk all around the tower and see the entirety of this gorgeous city. It seems this landmark is also where people take their significant other when they want to propose to them and we were fortunate enough to see this happen. It was a beautiful moment. Lovely landmark building, preserved to a fine standard. Amazing 360* views of Istanbul in its glory. The waiting queue can be quite long. But I’d definitely worth the wait. There is a fee to go inside. There is also a lift which unfortunately for those with mobility issues, doesn’t go to the top. There’s a souvenirs shop. (Cheaper to buy from stall outside)

Great view. The top floor is under renovation. The best photos are from the sixth floor. It's a great old tower in Istanbul. You can visit it after Hagia Sophia.

Light house in ancient times, but now is a museum. A great look from Asia to Europe and from Europe to Asia. Unfortunately at my visit, it was closed for visitors due to restoration work. But it's a must visit when you are in Istanbul. Market around the tower looks amazing, from shopping to restaurants.

This ancient watchtower is a good spot to give you a birds-eye view of the estuary and the old Istanbul city. The views are absolutely amazing. There is a steep set of stairs to go up, but it's worth it. There are many cafes around the tower as well. You can also find out about the stories of the pigeons of Galata tower.

Hey everyone, The Galata Tower is one of the magnificent places to visit if your travelling with your family and friends. I actually enjoyed going here with my brother, me and my cousin sister. It is one of the best experiences. There was a small music band which everyone enjoyed listening to where they show their natural Turkish culture. Hope everyone enjoys the music. Have a nice day!

Nice place to visit - you'll have great views of the city, and some insights about history of the tower and Istanbul. We went during the week (around 5pm) and passed the lines in ~15-20 min. Generally I think this is not a "must visit" if you're very short on time - you can enjoy the views of the tower from the outside, and get similar views from rooftop restaurants in Istanbul.

I went to this beautiful palace first thing in the morning when it wasn’t so busy. The palace is truly massive and has many rooms, it’s takes about around 1 hour to get around the whole place! Definitely worth a visit but do go early at open time as it will be less crowded!

Wanted to visit this place, but the queue was to long. There was a queue for like 1,5 hour for tickets, after that another queue for like an hour to get in. After an hour i got out of the queue, because there wouldn’t be enough time to spend in the museum. From the outside the palace looked good, nice condition. Garden was also nice, beautiful flowers and trees. I would recommend to buy your ticket in advance.

Beautiful place. Kindly recommended to visit. Buy tickets in advance and come early in the morning because of the huge number of tourists. Territory is very big. You can easily spend here 3 to 4 hours. Toilets and cafes is on the territory. Prices acceptable.

Amazing Palace to visit. It's pretty big, so one needs at least 4 hours to properly get through. We didn't have the audio unit. If you listen to that, it would take even longer. Taking photos inside isn't allowed, but we have seen some people taking photos secretly. Interior is so beautiful that you can be tempted to break the rules and take photos. The blue hall reminded me of, as soon as we entered, the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican City. It was the bright colours and the richness of the paintings. Of course, the themes in the paintings are totally different. It's worth a visit. Represents a different era and style.

What a beautiful palace on the water! For tourist, it was a bit pricey. I really enjoyed seeing the architecture and historical paintings. I would recommend having a snack in the café due to the great selections and excellent service. Be sure to take your time and you will find many hidden nuggets of historical significance! I was surprised that they would be so strict on not taking pictures and videos? I would think it would be welcomed. So be prepared to not get many personal photos.

Stunning place, gorgeous interiors, beautiful furniture, the palace is a real treat for your eyes. Unfortunately, Photography is not allowed inside. Also the place is very crowded, better to come in the morning cause when we were leaving the palace at 1:30pm the line at the entrance was enormous!

This is a must see when you come to Istanbul. We didn't have a chance to go inside because we didn't buy our tickets ahead of time. The line was very very long to wait for tickets. We walked around the outside and just that was amazing to see. We're definitely going back here to go inside to spend the day. If you are going during summer make sure to wear a hat because it's very hot and sunny in this area. We came back in July 2023 and went inside the palace. You can spend up to 4 hours inside this beautiful place. You can feel the luxury and Regency inside the palace. So many antiquities inside!!

To see a Luxurious and beautiful palace then pay 650TL , otherwise stay out side and take pictures, spend the money in useful way. If you enter into the palace then take your own time and see many interesting exhibits about Sultan life and Ottoman Empire. Photography Restricted inside the palace.

Cannot recommend this place enough. Beautiful palace exterior and interior. Can only speak for when I was here in June at around 15.00 and it was not very crowded at all. A must see if you are in Istanbul, I would recommend spending at least 2 hours here. The grassy lawn by the waterfront is also very comfortable to sit, chat and rest. Loved it.

The place is pleasant, but it's not advisable to go in summer due to the lack of air conditioning, making it uncomfortably hot. Some areas are still under renovation. Nevertheless, it's a remarkable palace to visit, being the largest in Turkey. They provide interpretation headphones in many languages, making a guide unnecessary.

Overall it is a nice palace. Great artwork in it, but was difficult to see it in detail because of the huge amount of people. We had to hurry through the rooms because there were other people waiting after us. The garden is pretty, but nothing special. The price is way too high for what you see.

Stunning modern Palace of the last ottoman Sultan's. The buildings and grounds are beautiful but unfortunately you can only photograph the exteriors and not the interiors. There are several cafes within the grounds and plenty of toilet facilities also. You have to head towards the painting museum to get round the sea facing side of the Palace, but it's well worth the walk.

Gorgeus palace, reflecting huge luxus and richness. The garden is stunning too. Though the prices are a bit overrated considering the fact that you can't take photos inside, which I also do not understand, why not. I think it would help create a better image for the palace, as by showing pictures of the inside to our acquaintances, it would attract even more people, which would mean bigger profit...

A must to see!!! Located on the European coast of the Bosporus strait, Dolmabahce Palace is indeed an impressive example of Ottoman architecture and interior design. Outstanding architecture and impressive gardens. It served as the main administrative center of the Ottoman Empire from 1856 to 1887 and from 1909 to 1922. Spot 2 h to explore the beauty of palace and purchase tickets in advance to escape the line. Highly recommended!!!

The Palace is very beautiful with rich history. If you are interested in knowing all the details , an audio tour is recommended. The palace is huge and takes around 2-3 hours to explore. Photos/videos are not allowed inside the palace. The entrance fees may differ as we heard all attractions tickets are getting spiked up. We visited on Aug 18th and paid 650 TRY per person.

Great place to visit! Not only is the location itself pretty, next to the see with view on the southern side of Ístanbul, the palace from the inside is just breath taking! The details, amazing. The entry price is totally worth it. I recommend you visit in the early hours, around lunch and afternoon it can be quite busy. Be aware: there is a strict no photographs policy inside the palace. Please follow these instructions :)

Unfortunately we came to visit on a Monday ( our last day in Istanbul) we didn't realise it wasn't open on Mondays so please bare this in mind when planning your trip. We were disappointed but still got to go into the entrance part and see the gates to the palace and the clock tower. İt looks an absolutely amazing place. Maybe it's a good thing I was closed, just means i have to plan another trip to Istanbul so I can get to see the inside too 😉 We passed the Dolmabahçe palace when we went on the Bosphorus cruise. The views were stunning

This is the most beautiful palace I have visited. It is so well preserved and maintained that it feels like almost all people are still living in it. The architecture, decoration, and carvings on the walls are just magnificent. I would recommend everyone to visit it. It is located on the bhosphorus and the ocean view is amazing. One needs to go early in the morning as it starts closing by 4-5. Photography is not allowed inside the palace so just be prepared to just absorb everything you see.

At first glance I was doubting if this palace will worth the ticket price as it’s (1080 Turkish Lira) but after going in and walking around this historical place is truly unique and beautiful and it’s 100 percent worth the price. Just make sure you spare 3/4 hours and don’t rush as it’s very big and many places to see.

Absolutely amazing Palace and so worth the price! We came around 3:30 on Saturday and found out it in fact was open until 6 do we had a good 2.5 hours there, but could've stayed longer because there's so much to see! Has a cute cafe in the middle and plenty of pic opportunities. Really fantastic place.

As a tourist the entrance to enter is a bit pricy but in my opinion it is worth it. The tour takes around 2 hours and you are offered free audio guide too. Also they are very well organized and you see a lot of the different areas of the palace and you get a taste of how the sultan used to live. Recommended!

We went on a Saturday. Beautiful place to see, a must visit in istanbul. No waiting in line if you go in the morning. When we left in the afternoon there were long queues. You can also have lunch inside, there's a small cafe.

It's a great place to visit whether you love history or not. Trolleys for kids are not allowed so have that in mind if you have kids. You will need to walk a lot! But it's definitely worth it. Don't miss the painting museum in the end. You can buy also some gifts, they have nice souvenirs.

Vast historic palace on the bosofure, with long way to walk through wide rooms, curved stairs and high ceilings. You may have an idea of old Sultan life. There is a nice coffee shop in the castle garden to have a break for your long journey of walking

This palace is built in a completely different style than the usual Oriental architecture, so you're in for a surprise. It's a good one of course - even the radiators are an work of art. You can easily spend a day here, if you read every writing and spend some time looking at the details of the rooms and the exhibits. You can get an audio guide (works like a phone, there's a loud enough sound coming out you can listen to without troubling the people around you, or use your own 3.5 mm jack headphones). They don't offer headphones since Covid. You will need to leave a document (ID, passport, driving license) at the reception or cache money as deposit. The garden is a work of art. I haven't been to many palaces, especially the ones in France should count as the exhibit A as far as palaces and gardens are concerned, but this one comes pretty close. It's not gigantic either, but there's a lot to unpack. There's a very good cafeteria once you are done with the main Palace (between it, the Harem and the painting museum), where you can have Sweets, drinks, or club sandwich style of food.

It’s a tourist destination that you could not miss. The architectures are beautiful but the interior is a little shabby. You have to bring your passport or ID to get a free audio. The ticket price for foreigners is ten times the price for Turkish citizens. However, you are not permitted to take even a photo of the interior. I don’t think it’s worth the ticket price.

The only tourist destination in Istanbul that is worth paying the entrance fee for, in my opinion. It is more modern than Topkapi and the interiors of the buildings have more furniture in them and it makes it feel more authentic rather than the empty interiors at Topkapi. The room where Ataturk died is in the harem. The courtyard is very beautiful and has a stunning view of the sea. No pictures are allowed inside. You can buy tickets online and I definitely recommend to do so.

Beautiful palace, price is 1050 tl for foreigners. Unfortunately inside it s not allowed to take pictures. It s worth to see but usually crowded. Recommend to buy ticket online and come earlier. Cafe was already closed at 5 pm.

Dolmabahçe Palace is one of the best palace’s I’ve seen, European elegance and culture mixed with the Anatolian and Ottoman spirit. It is a place you need to visit, at least once in your lifetime in my opinion. Everything about it was awesome! Book in advance and remember that photos are not allowed.

"renovation" according to Erdogan, means "being transformed into a mosque so I can get more votes from the extremists." (a minority of Turkish) I was lucky to visit this church in 2014 and it's the most beautiful byzantine church I have ever seen! Turkey has one of the richest history in the world (I visited 30 archeological sites in this country), this is thanks to all the civilisations and empires that have lived here. The Hittite gave us Hattusa, the Ottoman empire built beautiful mosques, the byzantine empire is only represented with three harmless churches in Istanbul, but all are being transformed into mosque. Shame on Erdogan for not respecting such beautiful and unique legacy

Guys stop doing nonsence,stop spoiling all churches!!!People coming to İstanbul to watch art of past, especially which left from Bizantian times,Roman empire time.People standing hours to see all these priceless places.Mosque and church are both house of God,and no need to proove something by converting churches to mosques.Same as mosques mustn't be converted to churches. Let's respect each other!

Amazing frescoes here. Well preserved there are in-house guides you can pay for. They will probably give u more guidance. Building itself is under restoration works, also this will become a msoque in the future so it be interesting to see what happens o the frescoes

Beautiful, unfortunately it is still undergoing work so areas are closed off (hence the 4 stars). It is quite nice they have small benches to be able to just sit and take it in. Even the parts where the tiles of mosaics are missing are intriguing as you can see the markings underneath they used as a template. Somewhere I would definitely revisit once all works are finished.

Still closed March 2024. The neighborhood around Chora Church or Kariye Mosque is fabulous for a quiet stroll while no tourists are around. There are quaint playgrounds full of children and families and nearly empty cafés to enjoy while you walk the back streets of old town. It’s a nice diversion as you’re exploring the walls of Theodosius. It seems that there will be a nice hotel and gorgeous café right next to this site once it reopens.

Definitely a highlight in our trip. Originally built as part of a monastery complex, this is one of the few remaining Byzantine churches in Istanbul. It really stands out for its many beautiful decorations in its interior. Huge crowds, but worth the trek up and down the small streets.

Much of this church/museum is closed for restoration work and the ticket price has not been reduced. However, what was on show was amazing and well preserved. We had a museum pass and this site was included, so it didn't cost us extra and we enjoyed the journey and location as well.

Amazing ancient Church. The location is not big, but it has the best preserved ancient mosaics and wall paintings. Parts of the Church are on renovation, but there is enough to see. Highly recommend visiting this museum.

Would get a five-star if the restoration is finished as planned. I have learned from the website that the work would be over by late-April 2019. I went there yesterday, mid-May, and a large section on the right side was still closed for the restoration job. This is disappointing. The audio guide, a smart phone with audio files for different sections of the museum, is for rent at 15 lira. The one-time ticket costs 45 lira. Altogether 60 for one facade section, one interior section, and one hall inside. I think this is quite pricey, considering the closed sections. Some signs for the corresponding audio files could not be found. Toilets need more regular cleaning. I went straight from the airport to the museum in order to spend time before the check-in time of my hotel. No deposit service for the baggage though. Already paid, the staff at the entrance said i could not take my suitcase with me inside either. They said that was forbidden. A few awkward moments! Only when i turned to the manager, i was allowed to take it with me inside. Not a nice experience.

It's a beautiful street to have a good walk in the city. Lots of shops!

Hot spot for tourist for walking. Spent time here during winter vacation. Nice vibe. A lot of cafes and restaurants around the street. It is better if there is street performance. Maybe as it is during winter already, so no performance around.

Great place to walk , you will meet multiple nationalities, diverse place people from all over the world travel to see this particular street, you will love your walk specially in evening hours as alot of activities' are going around.

The street is very beautiful. There are many shops of various brands as well as very beautiful cafes throughout the street. At night, Nightlife is very beautiful in the street, until around 1 or 2 am there is still movement. There are also many hotels on the street where you can stay.

It’s a mini Oxford Street of London. Lots of buzz and shopping. You can get street food and enough restaurants to fulfil the appetite of food & drinks. Very good place to get your currency exchanged here. Best rates. Take the tram ride for a fun ride.
