The palace and grounds are an amazing opportunity to step into the past. A guided tour would take you 2 hours approx but give you a history of the development of the palace and it's many uses. Also, at midday every day there is a small 'welcome' from the acted ruler and soldiers at the door to the palace.

An audio walking tour of the area is highly recommended, but don't hesitate to stray a few blocks outside the palace on any given side. On first sight you may not recognize it as a palace as it looks rather like a city wall. This is because in post Roman times the people of split built their city inside the palace. So you will need some imagination when visiting. Best is to start your way in the cellar, entering from the harbor side. Then walk your way up to the historic Peristyle. Also three of the original four gates are preserved. Our biggest highlight was the temple of Aesculapius. Five stars is not enough for this site and even our kids could not get enough of it!

With all the restored and still standing ruins, the experience makes it magical. The architecture of all the remaining structures from the Baroque period back to the Middle Ages can be seen despite the bombing that occurred during WW2. it was truly a site worth visiting

The shops are great, lovely eateries, local musicians looking to make a buck, totally worth the visit!!!

The labirynth of streets, hidden shortcuts and historical spirit give you a feeling that you are walking in ancient Rome empire. I recommend to walk across streets during day and also to see this beautiful city by night. It's also worth to buy ticket to visit city's attractions - everything in reasonable prices, but experience exceeds expectations.

A fascinating area of Split. Which draws in a lot of tourists. We found it best visited early morning as the foot traffic was less. This allows you to capture the beauty in a more relaxed environment. The streets are beautiful, and some of the alleys are tiny. Just walk round and take it all in. Tickets are needed for attractions such as Bell Tower and Cathedral but elsewhere free. Keep your eyes peeled for faces and artwork on the walls above eye level. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the area, and it's buzzing with life. Which is also great.

The palace is not typical like other Roman sites as there are shops and museums in the palace grounds with crowds packing all the main areas even during October time. It is quite impressive and in a prominent sea facing location. You can easily wander around the palace to see the history, architecture shop and get some food to eat. I would recommend the underground tour to see the massive structure below the streets and admire the construction feat. And don't forget to visit the cafes, restaurants and shops in the palace grounds

For me it was like time travel. I can see improvement on the respect to the place. It used to be open for everyone and now you have to pay to see some of that gorgeous old buildings. That's good. We have to preserve our heritage. It's going in the right direction. Nice!

This was such an amazing place to visit and explore. We learned so much history. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Split was an amazing place to visit. We learned about the palace being decorated with numerous 3500 year old granite sphinxes, and now there are only three remaining left. It was supposed to be the retirement home for Diocletian. It was also one of the filming locations for Game of Throne's so that was cool to see as well.

If you go to Split this place is a must see. The history speaks for itself. Also, you'll see where Game of Thrones filmed their dragon's lair. Very cool. See below.

Huge place. Take your time to go through the alleys and be amazed by the engineering to build such a city. I imagine the people staying on the higher "floors" are richer, and since unclean stuff flows down, the people staying at the ground levels and below regularly have to do the cleaning up. A labyrinth of alleys and overhead arches built with stones is amazing.

Great place for food and brinks in the heart of the town .we have used this place for the last 12 years and do a great monitor our 4pm drink.

The park/forest is really beautiful. And being by the shore, it provides amazing scenery. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars, is because I didn't see any security. So it could be my skepticism, or just me not being use to having such a safe place. So it is a nice walking, tourism spot and I would go back for sure.

Beautiful that can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be. There are flat paved trails or more mountainous trails that will make you work. There is a zoo on the top with a porta potty outside. The park has a lot of cool plant species like native orchids and wild sage. You can identify them with an app like Seek.

Absolutely mandatory to visit and stroll around the park if staying in Split. Gorgeous views and a very relaxing atmosphere. If you start from Marjan Hill Stairs and make your way around the park you'll end up near some amazing beaches to relax on after the hike!

a huge park where you can see churches, many viewing platforms and other sights that I have not visited;) the terrain is quite difficult in places, you should have suitable shoes. We parked our car near the beach, in August it can be a tricky part. The views of the sea and Split are beautiful, so I advise you to visit.

Very nice park within walking distance from the centre of Split. The park is largely car free and that makes the park very pleasant. You have beautiful views and you can also go to the beach.

First and foremost this is a huge park, easily larger than the whole of old town, with plenty of room to spare. There are several very large footpaths that lead mostly around the Marjan Hill after which the park is named. Several beaches can be accessed from the park, best ones being located on the southern side. There are also some ancient churches along the footpaths as well as great vistas, a museum and a small zoo. Recommended.

A must see place. The view from the top was amazing. Recommend bringing A LOT of water with you, specially if you plan on visiting during the peak heat hours of the day.

Beautiful, very relaxing place with gorgeous views of Adriatic sea. Excellent for a hike, walk or bike ride. Air from the pine trees is absolutely pure. It felt so great to go for a swim after hiking.

Really enjoyed the walk here - serene, wooded with trails and steps. There is a small zoo of domesticated animals and a botanical garden. A healthy workout! And beautiful views from the top.

What a stunning place to visit in Split. The park is beautiful to hike across from the old town of Split to the top. We hiked down to the beach and boy it was stunning! There’s a lot of greenery and the view of the town from the top is absolutely amazing. If you have more than 2 days in Split, please consider putting this spot to your bucket list.

A verdant and welcome excursion from old town. The 8km loop trail is scenic and peaceful but the real beauty lies inside. The interior trails offer shade and viewing points which make them worth the effort.

It is quite a climb especially in the heat. We went as far as the first summit which included 340 steps at that point!!. The wildlife and plants are amazing and of course the views. Only disappointment was the restaurant cafe on the way back where tables were reserved or taken so the my thirst could not be quenched, shame after all the walking and heat.

This park is stunning, from the climb at the beginning to view from the very top its is beautiful. It can be quite a tough climb at times (really depending on your level of fitness) but it is genuinely worth it. I would have loved to have walked the entire length but we had a lot to pack into the few days we had. Maybe next time...

A small but beautiful cathedral. Admission to the cathedral area only in Summer 2023 is €5/person. You can buy tickets to all areas or to just specific areas of the cathedral depending on how much time you have. The ticket office across the Peristyle accepts card payments . Anyone entering the cathedral itself with bare shoulders will be told to cover themselves with a shawl (provided free of charge outside). Allocate 30-45 minutes here at least. Small but beautiful and well worth your time.

You can buy tickets in front of the cathedral but after 11 its really busy because of all the tourism. Would recommend buying tickets around 9. Because we where students we got 50% off the original price. After we got the tickets we went to the treasury, bell tower and catherdral and there wer no lines for any of these activities. In the treasury we where able to look and read about the history of the city. In the bell tower we where able to go all the way to the top and we made some beautifull pictures of the view. The cathedral was still in shape and we where able to see some old objects used back in the day. Overall a great experience!

We climbed the cathedral and the views at the top were amazing. Be prepared for steep stairs but there’s not too many, then there is a metal staircase which is easier to climb. Also don’t wear a dress! (It gets very windy)

This church from the fourth century is a complex having the church, the bell tower and a mausoleum. Regarded as the oldest Catholic cathedral in the world that remains in use in its original structure. Though small compared to other cathedrals, it is an architectural marvel on its own.

It's a fantastic historical area, especially how old these buildings are it's amazing they're still standing worth a trip if you are nearby and to learn a little lesson or two in the background of when and where it all comes from.

The Split Cathedral and other related parts of the area were interesting, beautiful and a nice part of our visit to Split Croatia. Get the ticket that includes all parts of the tour - they have 4 or 5 different types of tickets and it can get confusing but each section only takes a little bit of time to see so see it all! Make sure you retain your ticket - they will check it at each area. My favorite part was the museum - nice and cool with lots of interesting religious (and non) artifacts.

The ticket office is opposite the main entrance and you can buy various options of historical places to visit depending on you time or preference. We had purple tickets €15 each will allowed us into the 5 main sights. The belltower has good views but the stone steps are unusually high so you need to be fairly fit. None of the attractions are particularly large but very interesting.

The Tower is amazing and well worth a visit. Definitely not one to tey if you have vertigo or any dodgy knee joints! The lower sections are polished marble (over many years of use) and with no handrails at that point.

The Saint Domnius Cathedral was the first building to catch my eye when we were in Split, Croatia. It looks so perfect from far away, and it makes me feel it's magnificent when I get closer. The area has many shops and restaurants. It is the same as most tourist attractions. But most of them are closed because we were there on the weekend! Some stores are very attracted. I wish they were open for business!

The cathedral is in the palace grounds and a combo ticket includes access to the cathedral and the tower. The tower gives a great view of the city and the access is narrow and on a not so crowded day is a good way to climb up and enjoy the views.

Best views of split up there, I was also very intrigued by the stonework on the tower (mind your head up the first set of steps if you're tall!). Entry is by tickets purchased just in front of the cathedral. If your shoulders are uncovered, staff will give you something to cover them so that you can enter, so that is not a problem.

The cathedral was awesome , we went during off season and thankfully it was not crowded. We could walk through comfortably and we were very happy to be there.

This is a beautiful historical cathedral in the center of the citadel with sunning architecture. Everything is in very close proximity so be sure to wonder around while you’re there and take in all the wonderful sounds, sights and stores. Beware, this is absolutely a tourist hotspot and therefore not only really, really crowded, but also a hotspot for scammers and pickpockets. Do not let your guard down and you’ll be fine. The only think we would have done differently was to have been there at 7 or 8 in the morning to avoid the crowds and suppressive heat.

The green ticket that grants access to the cathedral and four other locations is well worth the money. The bell tower was also fantastic and we really enjoyed the tiny little Baptistry with all its subtly embedded lore and symbolism.

Beautiful promenade lined with palm trees, street vendors and of course restaurants. The locals love spending time here drinking coffee and chatting for hours.

Yes it's touristy but it's still a fantastic spot for enjoying the view and people watching. The restaurants lining the promenade are overpriced and the quality pretty average - there are better places to eat. But enjoying a morning coffee or a glass of wine/beer and watching the sunset is a treat. There are also plenty of benches to sit on in front of the eateries or the sea wall itself. Walking to either the marina or pier on either side offers the best place for photos.

An ideal spot to just sit and have breakfast or just watch everything pass by whilst sitting on a bench under a palm tree. It's easy to spend all day here and not get bored

A nice pedestrian promenade lined with palm trees, restaurants, bars and shops. This is the place to see and to be seen in Split. It's pretty, crowded and overpriced. Nice to stroll around but only eat here if you're prepared to spend a bit extra coin. The time I did eat here, the food was actually pretty good.

Beautiful promenade but can get quite windy at times depending on the weather. locals DON'T recommend dining in the restaurants along the promenade though given their excessive price - coffee is fine. Great vibe and safe area. Only thing is there seems to be a lack of public toilet around the area

The busiest Street of Split. Its really nice to walk between the beautifully laid palm trees. A lot of entertainment options all around here. Really happening at night. It is filled with tourists at night.

This is a beautiful well organised waterfront. The palm trees have been carefully placed to create a green calming oasis in the middle of such a tourist/crowd hotspot. There are many benches and water fountains dotted around for you to rest and admire the beautiful seafront or the bustling old town and restaurants. Lots of spots in the shade. The area was well maintained, super clean and tidy. I spent many hours over my weekend taking a rest here. There are boat tours nearby and tens of restaurants and independent businesses here as well.

Whichever way you start, take a leisurely walk up, then down. Choose a bench and sit and stare into the sea. Alternate with looking at the passersby and deciding which ice cream flavor to finally get up for. Enjoy!

During day a walk is a challenge due to crowd and high temperature. But when evening comes, I cannot describe the beauty of this place. I can walk and walk, and taste every single second here.

A beautiful location of living history. Contemporary business and active household intermingling and adapting to the Roman history that it all resides in. An audio walking tour of the area is highly recommended, but don't hesitate to stray a few blocks outside the palace on any given side. There are wonderful restaurants and shops near the palace in addition to those inside.

The history of this place is just out of this world! A roman palace that’s still live and been repurposed to accommodate the lifestyle in the 21 st century!! It’s a touristy area so expect lots of little shops and restaurants within the walls. Highly recommend visiting if you are in Split.

We were so stunned walking through this Roman palace in Split! It is actually the world's most complete remains of a Roman palace. On first sight you may not recognize it as a palace as it looks rather like a city wall. This is because in post Roman times the people of split built their city inside the palace. So you will need some imagination when visiting. Best is to start your way in the cellar, entering from the harbor side. Then walk your way up to the historic Peristyle. Also three of the original four gates are preserved. Our biggest highlight was the temple of Aesculapius. Five stars is not enough for this site and even our kids could not get enough of it!

Great place to see. A lot of activities here. Shops, food, drinks, etc. Please make sure you allow yourself enough time at this ancient historical site. There is so much to see. You need at least 2 solid days to explore all the nooks and crannies, streets and alleyways. Only parts of the original palace remain but are still a significant chunk of the site. It's interesting to see how the newer portions intermingle with the original. If you are into ancient history and enjoy the grandure of construction from that time, this is the place for you. Well... given the multitude of other activities, it's a great place for everyone. Oh, and don't forget to check out the Riva and enjoy the view of the Adriatic sea.

With all the restored and still standing ruins, the experience makes it magical. The architecture of all the remaining structures from the Baroque period back to the Middle Ages can be seen despite the bombing that occurred during WW2. it was truly a site worth visiting

I loved it here. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect despite the research I had done. It was beautiful inside the walls. The floors was gorgeous & shiny, it's hard to believe how old they are!! The shops are great, lovely eateries, local musicians looking to make a buck, totally worth the visit!!!

Such a great place to spend a few days. Nice restaurants and cafes and lots of history down the small lanes. You need a ticket to go into the cathedral and some of the other historic sites, but it's not much and definitely worth it. Ticket office is right next to the cathedral.

Amazing place, beautiful, kept in good condition. It's best to visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds of visitors. The atmosphere there is absolutely gorgeous and makes you want to come back there again. From the Palace, you can enter a maze of charming little lanes spreading out all over the old town. This place is a must see!

Stunning Roman remains right in the heart of Splits. Most of the palace can be visited for free and there are great views of the harbour when you get to the second level. I also highly recommend checking out the crypt for some more touring but I would stay away for the shops as they're overly expensive and clearly tourist traps.

Magical place!! Fell in love with Split on my first day with its narrow cobblestone paved alleyways and relaxed atmosphere with little cafes. Many little shops and a night stroll in the old town is lovely as well.

For an optimal experience, I recommend scheduling your visit in the evening. This timing not only allows for a more intimate exploration of the palace's historical significance but also helps avoid the bustling crowds that tend to gather in the middle of the day. A highlight not to be missed is the bell tower. Ascending its heights provides not only a panoramic view of the surroundings but also a unique perspective on the palace itself. It adds an extra layer of charm to the visit, making the exploration of Diocletian's Palace in Split a truly enriching and memorable experience.

The old city of Split is one of the most wonderful historical cities in the Europe. The labirynth of streets, hidden shortcuts and historical spirit give you a feeling that you are walking in ancient Rome empire. I recommend to walk across streets during day and also to see this beautiful city by night. It's also worth to buy ticket to visit city's attractions - everything in reasonable prices, but experience exceeds expectations.

A fascinating area of Split. Which draws in a lot of tourists. We found it best visited early morning as the foot traffic was less. This allows you to capture the beauty in a more relaxed environment. The streets are beautiful, and some of the alleys are tiny. Just walk round and take it all in. Tickets are needed for attractions such as Bell Tower and Cathedral but elsewhere free. Keep your eyes peeled for faces and artwork on the walls above eye level. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the area, and it's buzzing with life. Which is also great.

The palace is not typical like other Roman sites as there are shops and museums in the palace grounds with crowds packing all the main areas even during October time. It is quite impressive and in a prominent sea facing location. You can easily wander around the palace to see the history, architecture shop and get some food to eat. I would recommend the underground tour to see the massive structure below the streets and admire the construction feat. And don't forget to visit the cafes, restaurants and shops in the palace grounds

For me it was like time travel. I can see improvement on the respect to the place. It used to be open for everyone and now you have to pay to see some of that gorgeous old buildings. That's good. We have to preserve our heritage. It's going in the right direction. Nice!

Cool place with active businesses in it. You can wander around for free, but the bell tower and the underground is worth a paid visit. I was here in February and there were few people around.

Amazingly interesting place, full of history. Do it with a guide to get the full benefit of the place, or you will miss out on half the story. Entrance into the palace area is free, entrance into the museums and tower is paid.

This was such an amazing place to visit and explore. We learned so much history. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Split was an amazing place to visit. We learned about the palace being decorated with numerous 3500 year old granite sphinxes, and now there are only three remaining left. It was supposed to be the retirement home for Diocletian. It was also one of the filming locations for Game of Throne's so that was cool to see as well.

If you go to Split this place is a must see. The history speaks for itself. Also, you'll see where Game of Thrones filmed their dragon's lair. Very cool. See below.

Historial monumental palace, covers big part of the city. Great for few hours walking, connected with maraina, caffeteria, restaurants. Must see while visiting Split.

Huge place. Take your time to go through the alleys and be amazed by the engineering to build such a city. I imagine the people staying on the higher "floors" are richer, and since unclean stuff flows down, the people staying at the ground levels and below regularly have to do the cleaning up. A labyrinth of alleys and overhead arches built with stones is amazing.

Very nice fortress, the ticket possible to buy at the entrance and it costs 10 euro. Located only 30 minutes by car from Split and with free parking. This fortress popular because of "Game of thrones" that was shooted at this location. Fortress is old, probably I wouldn't visit it if I lived very far, but if you live 1-2 hours near you will definitely enjoy the views from this fortress.

I went as a game of thrones fan, could only make out one scene. The view is great, it took us a while to get up there and back on the public buses. (About 30 minutes waiting each way as we didn't know what time they left). There are multiple signs around the fortress which explain what's going on.

Ticket is 10eur/each. The view is stunning. We mostly enjoyed the view and not the fortress building. This can be a great place for a picnic. Plus point: Lots of cats! To get there, there are not a lot of busses, you take bus 22 from the center the bus will take you directly there. But please check the timetable first. It's different on Saturday and Sunday.

Overhyped place due to casting GoT, but mostly nothing to look at. No doubts it a great historical place with interesting exhibitions, but price is higher than I expected, again due to TV show. Here you can try yourself as an archer, blacksmith and knight. And the view, the view is incredible

A nice place with a history that goes back a long way. It's worth a visit especially for enthusiasts of the well known series that was filmed here. I find the 10€ entrance fee a bit spicy for what you get, but notoriety has its price.

Fantastic place, we haven’t seen anything like this before. This is a large territory of a well-preserved fortress located on a mountain. It’s interesting for both adults and children to see how they used to live and the views that open from anywhere in the fortress to the incredible nature of Croatia. In terms of time, it is better to focus on an 1.5h. But it may take more if with photos 😂

This place is amazing! Absolutely worth the €10 entree fee. Beautiful views of all of Split and surrounding mountains, and the fortress itself is so cool to see, you can read lots about the history (in English!), and see some old artifacts. It took us about 1.5-2 hours to walk through the whole thing, but we took our time and brought ourselves a little snack too. Extra cool if you are a Game of Thrones fan, they filmed a lot of the scenes for Moreen here and you can walk in the same spots, but even if you are not, it’s an amazing spot to see. Transportation there was pretty good, €3 to get up by bus, about a 20min bus ride and then a 10-15min walk to the entrance. Beware that it is not very wheelchair/disability friendly, lots of uneven/old stone walls and stairs. Highly recommend making the trip if you are visiting Split!

Super views from this fortress showing the beautiful Split and surrounding area. Mostly a ruin but it has some rooms with exhibits and info plaques in English and Croatian. No cafe or anything on site but there are toilets. 10euro each entry was OK as that includes free entry to olive museum which is a 30min walk away (we didn't go so no reviews on that) No access for disabled so dropped a star. Small town at bottom of fort is good for some refreshments and we took a bus from here to Solin (see my other review) which was 5euro for two 🙏

Great views - it was quite windy the day we went, so be sure to check the weather. Uneven stones will be slick with rain for sure. Really cool piece of history (and Game of Thrones fandom), well maintained and a great exhibit with interactive history lessons.

Amazing medieval fortress where you can feel Croatian rich history. Amazing view on the city of Split and nearby mountains. Fun fact: Klis has been used as a filming location for Meereen city in Game of Thrones.

Very nice place to spend a morning. A bus will drop you off, you pay admission and you meander through a medieval fortress. Parts of games of thrones was filmed her, in particular the scene with the dragons flying around. The steps can be tricky to navigate. The views to die for

We were visiting during early May which means there weren't that many tourists. Thus making it a very enjoyable walk around the ruins. The view is amazing and the ruins themselves are gorgeous. Definitely worth a visit.

It's a bit of an uphill walk to get there. Not suitable if your not very mobile. There is lots of steps inside as well. 10 euros each to enter. It was nice to see but most people were there due to the games of thrones link.

Very well preserved medieval castle with beautiful views on Split. I wouldn't probably have come if it hadn't appeared in Game of Thrones, but it was worth the visit. We arrived at 1 PM on a very hot and sunny day. There were not many visitors, and the parking had a lot of spaces. But it was hot 🥵 Nice visit, nevertheless.

Amazing views from this historic landmark. You can almost picture the ancient warriors with their views and arrows, thanks in part to the Game of Thrones episodes filmed here. A must see if you're in the area.

Nice for GoT fans and great views over Split but 10€ seems a bit too much. You also have to pay the entrance to Stella Croatia which was closed during our visit- so unusable. Should have made the tickets cheaper for that. Also there is no student discount.

The Klis fortress in an incredible location above the city of Split offers an excellent adventure into the past. You will also enjoy the spectacular view of Split and its surroundings. It can rightly be said that the reason for filming certain frames for the Game of Thrones series was carefully selected by the eyes of real experts. Whoever is visiting the city of Split should not miss this wonderful fortress, it deserves every praise.

Very beautiful fortress. We went there as a spontaneous trip for the evening. The walk-up to the fortress is really not that bad. Inside, there is a lot to see, next to historical weapons and architecture. The original set for some Game of Thrones episodes can be found here! Amazing place with a cheap entrance fee.

A large fortress which has great views all the way to Split. €10 entrance fee. We spent over an hour walking round the various areas and looking at the views. Take a drink with you as it can be thirsty work in the heat and quite a few steps. For any GOT enthusiasts some of the filming for season 4 and 5 was done here.

If you're a fan of fortresses and you're near Split, the Klis Fortress is something you must see! Besides the fortress itself, you will be amazed by the beautiful view of Split and its surroundings. The Klis Fortress is one of the best examples of a medieval fortress in Dalmatia, excellently preserved and renovated in recent years. It consists of three parts, each separated by gates, and within the fortress, there are armories, barracks, towers, the duke's residence, and a church. Throughout history, it guarded the strategic passage between the coast and the hinterland, with its most glorious period being the era of wars with the Turks. The fortress was also a filming location for Game of Thrones series. Beneath the fortress, there is free parking and café bars, and it takes about an hour to explore the fortress. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance, priced at 10 euros for adults and 3 euros for children. With the ticket, you can also visit the Stella Croatica ethno-agricultural park, located a few minutes' drive from the fortress. Our advice is to adjust your arrival time according to weather conditions, and during the summer months, try to come earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon since there is very little shade at the fortress, and it can get very hot.

This place feels like a scam. Way overpriced at 15€ for a small exhibition that takes roughly 15 minutes to see everything. To top it off this place denies customers to take photos of the displays which is ridiculous and not customary in exhibitions. Feels as if this rule is in place as to not expose how little this place has to offer. The English descriptions of the displays are also riddled with spelling/grammar mistakes. I would be less harsh if the entry was maybe 5€ max and allowed photos but given the price, the rules and how the owners respond to other people’s reviews this place is just scummy and not worth it.

$58 for the family of 4 to check out a museum for 20/30 min??? Super cute stuff. Classic old world charm but it is Hungarian not Croatian. No pictures allowed inside. :(

It was one of the most interesting museums I have ever been to. The amount of work and detail that went into these scenes is amazing. The best part is the funny captions for each. This is a must-see if you visit Split.

It do be a froggy land. Quirky museum with whimsical dioramas of stuffed frogs doing different activities and scenes. However it’s a big overpriced - €15 for a museum you can see in about 15 minutes

I didn’t get what the point. Frogs, so what. They got more books with the “Trippadviser” reviews than frogs. Actually, this “museum” overpriced 10€ for this? It’s forbidden to take photos. What is cool: this frogs really old (100 years), but looks nice, also they are representing life in 1920s (two stars for this).

Froggyland is an unmissable trip when visiting Split. Just literally so many frogs. I've never seen anything quite like it.

At 15 Euro, this exhibition is a complete tourist rip off. Visitors are not allowed to take photos of the exhibits and these exhibits are pretty well exhausted after a 10-15 minute visit. I think the owners of this dodgy-land are doing Split a disservice by pricing this as it is clearly not worth anything over a couple of Euro. The tone of the replies to negative reviews says it all, and in retrospect, I suspect many of the positive reviews are paid or friends of the owner.

Definitely a unique experience. It’s a museum entirely of “cadaver” frogs posed into various positions to create and tell a story. It’s 16€ if using a credit card and it’s not that large. The stories are ok but the diorama are comical.

I had to take these pictures sneakily because we were told that you can’t take pictures of the frogs. I love frogs, but for €13 this is a rip off.

The most comprehensive frog museum I have been to. Far from competition! It also made us thinking... Are frogs maybe the better people?...

Very nice and very small museum to visit, I am quite annoyed that there is a no photo rule which is why I am giving it 4 stars. It is quite a shame that you are not able to take pictures with the frogs as a souvenir or that they don't even offer the possibility to have your pictures taken and printed for a price. Despite the rule I did still take some pictures. Otherwise it is a very nice place to visit, the scenarios the frogs are placed in have been very well interpreted and the detail is very impress. Very good place to visit, especially if you have kids

Unfortunately you are not allowed to take photos of the exhibits but they really were fascinating. They had lots of black and white photos on the walls, which the "artist" had based his frogs on. There are over 500 frogs in here and they have all been positioned with care to make them look realistic. Definitely something you should do when visiting Split!

A fascinating and unique experience, which you’d certainly never find anywhere else. We expected it to be bigger for the price, though: at 15 euros each, this was the most expensive 15 minutes of our trip to Split. Even if you spend a lot of time looking at each display, it’s really only one small room and you could only spend a maximum of 30 mins here. We enjoyed it and it was an impressive historical life’s work, but sadly not good value for money.

Ferenc Mere was a genius. The positions the frogs are in are a true work of art. I never expected such a place to exist, but it was a wonderful experience and would highly recommend the visit while in Split. (I really recommend seeing the frogs in funny poses.)

This is one of the best beaches in the world. Fine sand, clear clean water and shallow. Perfect for families and sun lovers. Lined with beach bars and restaurants. Public beach with no sun lounger or umbrella. We brought padded mats to avoid laying directly on the sand.

Outstanding! If you are lucky enough to enjoy this secluded gem then you are already aware! Clean clear water, refreshing beverages available at the seaside bar. Get there early in the evening as it will fill up before 4:pm.

Beautiful beach with clear water and the occasional school of fish. There are cold showers along the concrete section (on the western side) as well as some 'changerooms' (a very small area screened off for privacy) and exercise bars. It can get very busy so be prepared for crowds.

Nice and probably an okay beach in Split, very close to the Split Old Town, just a few minutes walk. It’s a popular spot, so you can expect that the place would not be that clean. Some trashes here and there, people smoke and cigarette butts are scattered. But the location is good, the water is decent, not that bad, many people swim there, good time to swim in September or October too, the water is not that cold. A few restaurants nearby, good vibes.

Very popular Split beach not far from the city center. The beach is completely sandy both on the coast and at the entrance to the sea. The beach has a long shallow and is especially suitable for children and those who like various ball games in the shallows. Apart from the beach itself, on the sand, you can stay on the nearby pier as well as on the concrete part of the coast. Even so, the beach is often very crowded. There are several cafes around the beach. The beach has a shower, changing cabins and a toilet. The beach should be cleaned more often because the sea often throws a lot of algae onto the shore.

Great if you don’t want to swim, but just stand in knee deep water. The beach’s sand is dirty and not enticing and the water is muddy, sandy and dirty. Saw a sanitary pad float by me in the water. Best thing about this beach is the atmosphere, and the cafes and restaurants… not the actual beach or swimming. Overrated beach. Walk 9 minutes around the corner to Firule Beach which is much cleaner and less crowded.

No sand. Hard mud. Very very water and the whole area. In such a beautiful city of split, they should make the beach more beautiful, nice and clean. Only good thing is the water level is not too deep upto 20 meters inside the sea so that kids can enjoy more

Very calm waters with good for swimming temperature in June. Good enough ice cream, rocky entrance by the side and sandy when you go in, clean water, enough places to buy a drink or have a sunbath, not overcrowded. Even has some jumping spots and pillars in the water.

Amazing little spot to visit while on the "go sail Croatia". Beautiful clear water with no sharks very relaxing. The water temp around this time is 27-28 degrees. Cheap gellato shop just down the road and cheap drinks. Lots of families and locals enjoying the weather. It's a national park with bike hire to ride around a very picturesque lake. Around 1.5 hours return.

Even in early May, many people were having fun in the water here. However, the beach didn't look very clean.

Nice beach there is a sandy bit too which made a nice change from the other beaches we went to which were very stoney

Nice calm beach with a lot of restaurants and bars around. We were there in mild weather at the beginning of April, so it wasn’t very crowded. We had a nice walk around and simply dipped our feet in the water.

Great beach, sandy, very low water level for a long time, you can use side beaches for swimming/gerting into deep waters quickly.

An irregularly shaped square that features the statue of Croatioan national poet and the remnants of a Venetian castle. It has the typical croatian look, i.e, stone built, white and kind of austere. Not a whole lot to do here, one restaurant and thats about it. Nice to look at though.

It's very nice. Take your time and look up. You'll see magnificent things.

Obviously some of the sights in Split, even though I don't really get why that's the case. The sculptures are okay-ish but nothing extraordinary. So yeah if you're into that form of art enjoy. Gardens and view from the terrace are also quite okay. Also included in the entrance is a chapel some two hundred metres down the street to the left, which again offers beautiful sea views.

Wonderful sculpture gallery/museum dedicated to Croatia’s most prominent sculptor of the 20th Century, Ivan Meštrović, whose works are also prominently displayed around Split’s old town. The museum included full size bronzes, as well as studies, plaster models, sketches and his paintings. Worth a visit if you’re into sculpture and are visiting Split.

Great setting to enjoy viewing the sculptures. A video runs inside giving some insight and English language printed material is in the ticket office/shop to provide context to the most famous pieces.

It was remarkable seeing the temple and mostly intact beautiful ceiling! It was very interesting seeing the sphinx outside and to learn the history behind it and the temple of Jupiter. I would definitely recommend a visit to all wanting to see Roman architecture in Split.

The temple is in the palace grounds and access is included in the combo ticket. There is not much to see but definitely worth visiting and the fully intact ceiling is amazing to see and wonder about the architecture of our ancestors.

Roman Jupiter’s Temple. This small building is a part of Diocletian’s Palace. The place was not crowded but absolutely worth not to pass it by. The great example of ancient architecture.

We did a self-walking tour and found this little temple - some very interesting historical insights! The sphinx we’re messing about on is 3500 years old and was imported from Egypt for when they built the palace. We didn’t go in, so can’t tell you about inside. But right next to this is one of the narrowest and shortest alleyways (apparently in the world, but not sure if I believe that!)

Amazing to be there, but nobody stays more than a few minutes as it is an empty room with a modern statue of Jupiter. The ceiling is superb though, too bad no magnifying mirror to look in to see it properly. Crazy to have to pay so much just to look inside though.

The temple is small, but worth going inside. If you are interested in roman temples, you might like it. Although it has the Christian ingredients added in. Look at the baptistry and the carvings along the sides of it.

Very nice historical site. I recommend to take the blue card ( to see the cathedral, the crypt and the temple). It is enough, you don't need to take other cards.

The Temple of Jupiter is a small temple, reached by a narrow passageway next to the cathedral ticket office. It was converted from a pagan temple to a baptistry as the Empire morphed it's religious loyalty. The original Roman doorway remains with all it's pagan details and the ceiling is also magnificent, with human faces on each panel. There is a statue of a Croatian king inside as well as two Christian sarcophagi, one with a pentagram motif.

The temple is very small and almost no information inside. Because you have to pay for entrance, it is not reccomended, because in Split there are a lot of beautiful places for free.

If you have brought the purple ticket this is included. The statue of Jupiter is impressive as is the ceiling with its little faces. The area gets too busy with walking tours... and people are disrespectful off the Sphinx which is missing its head..by leaning on it.. feels like the establishment looking after this should be more vigilant if people are to enjoy this going forward.

I have seen the Jupiter's temple before only from the outside, and this was my first visit to its interior. Quite impressive - especially the vaulted ceiling, and Jupiter's statue. It would have been nicer if the later Christian generations did not mess with it - but thanks to them converting it into a baptistery it survived, most likely. Inside you can see the information about the temple posted on the door.

This is a small temple that won't take long to visit. There is a bit of information about the history available which was again Croatian and English - possibly other languages too but can't remember for certain! You can buy a ticket for here alone or as part of a multi ticket for other attractions that works out cheaper if visiting the others anyway. On its own this will only need around ten minutes to visit.

It is sad to say that a two thousand year old monument that's mostly preserved in tact can be disappointing, but the fact of the matter is, that it is. This is a very simple structure with one empty room. The Roman details are fairly well preserved , especially on the ceiling and on the portal, but there is simply not enough there to hold interest for more than 10 minutes, at best. Admission is included in the Split Cathedral pass which runs 50-80 Kuna.

The temple is small. If you are interested in roman temples, you might like it. But not worth visiting with a ticket. And during peak season, there will be a big queue at the ticket counter.

This is a small attraction in Split but very old and full of history. It was one of my favorite places in the town. Don’t miss the details of the building they show the age and he importance of this place. This is included in the ticket to visit the cathedral.

The wine tour from Anton showing us his beautiful vineyard and winery was absolutely amazing. The knowledge and passion him and his family have for Putalj winery is wonderful. Highly recommend doing the wine tour with them. Tea was wonderful too, helping through the wine tour and explaining the different food that was served during the wine tour and more about the region. Loved every minute of it!

Great for a half day tour near split of a local vineyard and and winery. It was great to get the chance to talk to the owner and have an in depth explanation of the winemaking process, and of sets apart the local wine varieties in this globalized industry. Great snacks as well to accompany the rich flavours of the Zinfandel and Plavac Mali reds and rose.

So great!!! Honestly way more than I expected from a wine tour, the views, the atmosphere, the set up, all the details were amazing, plus really great hosts that are so knowledgeable and passionate about what they do.

We went with friends for an evening of wine tasting and it was amazing, on entering we were shown our table where a small snack and glass of wine were waiting for us, and then we listened to a talk about the history of the winery and the wine after that we had a tour of the vineyards and later a short drive to the cellars and after invited for cheese and puršut platter with wine. An excellent evening was had by all. I highly recommend this place, the owner has put his heart and soul into giving guests exactly what they need.

No limit to the amount of wine you can try. They also produce their own olive oil you can try as well. Transportation to and from the vineyard is provided.

Incredible experience. The pick up/drop off was an easy central location in split. The views at the winery are gorgeous and accompanied by a fascinating talk from the owner. Learnt so much, ate even more. The olive oil, cheese and bread were outstanding. You are offered more wine than you could possibly drink and any leftovers are yours to take home. Cannot recommend this experience enough! Highlight of our holiday.

This was the highlight of my month long trip in the Mediterranean. Nicolina and Tea were the best hosts and explained the history of their family winery, the history of the area, and provided an amazing experience while tasting the delicious wine they have to offer. They were so generous, kind, and we had an amazing experience!!! We will be recommending to all of our friends and family who visit Croatia!

Truly an exceptional experience. The tour was well organized, passionate, and insightful. You’ll taste three wine varietals; Plavac Mali, Zinfandel, and a rose Zinfandel. The aperitifs paired with their estate olive oil hit the spot. The only downside of this tour was leaving! The owner and his team treat you like family. They are incredibly friendly. I highly recommend visiting the Putalj Winery. It was the highlight of our trip along the Dalmatian coast.

Great experience. This is not a normal wine tasting. This is a very personal tour given by the owner who is very passionate about quality wine making and the history of wine in this region of Croatia (specifically Zinfandel) The staff was very personable and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning about Croatian wine and history. No limit to the amount of wine you can try. Anton is the 3rd generation owner and only wine producer in that area He personally pours you wine directly from his Croatian oak barrels. They also produce their own olive oil you can try as well. They provide high quality cheese and prosciutto (no real limit on asking for more) Transportation to and from the vineyard is provided which is great because the winery and production area are separate and not super easy to find on your own.

What a gem! A gorgeous winery and vineyard. The winemaker and owner took us on an in-depth journey of wine making and history! Delicious wine and local cheese and meat.

Was able to get last minute tickets by emailing the company. Very passionate and personal tour from the owner with a great personal history. All the staff was knowledgeable, delightful and very personable. Appreciated them sharing their family with us. Truly left full and happy. Great at keeping your glass full.

Went on the wine tour here with my partner while we were visiting Split and it was such a wonderful experience! They provided transportation from city center to the winery which was convenient. The hosts are truly fantastic and they genuinely just want you to enjoy yourself - you can really tell how passionate they are about the winery. They are really generous with the wine and the meat/cheese you get as well. I had to write down the name of one of the cheeses I loved it so much! Definitely recommend this wine tour!

It was remarkable seeing the temple and mostly intact beautiful ceiling! It was very interesting seeing the sphinx outside and to learn the history behind it and the temple of Jupiter. I would definitely recommend a visit to all wanting to see Roman architecture in Split.

The temple is in the palace grounds and access is included in the combo ticket. There is not much to see but definitely worth visiting and the fully intact ceiling is amazing to see and wonder about the architecture of our ancestors.

Roman Jupiter’s Temple. This small building is a part of Diocletian’s Palace. The place was not crowded but absolutely worth not to pass it by. The great example of ancient architecture.

We did a self-walking tour and found this little temple - some very interesting historical insights! The sphinx we’re messing about on is 3500 years old and was imported from Egypt for when they built the palace. We didn’t go in, so can’t tell you about inside. But right next to this is one of the narrowest and shortest alleyways (apparently in the world, but not sure if I believe that!)

Amazing to be there, but nobody stays more than a few minutes as it is an empty room with a modern statue of Jupiter. The ceiling is superb though, too bad no magnifying mirror to look in to see it properly. Crazy to have to pay so much just to look inside though.

The temple is small, but worth going inside. If you are interested in roman temples, you might like it. Although it has the Christian ingredients added in. Look at the baptistry and the carvings along the sides of it.

Very nice historical site. I recommend to take the blue card ( to see the cathedral, the crypt and the temple). It is enough, you don't need to take other cards.

The Temple of Jupiter is a small temple, reached by a narrow passageway next to the cathedral ticket office. It was converted from a pagan temple to a baptistry as the Empire morphed it's religious loyalty. The original Roman doorway remains with all it's pagan details and the ceiling is also magnificent, with human faces on each panel. There is a statue of a Croatian king inside as well as two Christian sarcophagi, one with a pentagram motif.

The temple is very small and almost no information inside. Because you have to pay for entrance, it is not reccomended, because in Split there are a lot of beautiful places for free.

If you have brought the purple ticket this is included. The statue of Jupiter is impressive as is the ceiling with its little faces. The area gets too busy with walking tours... and people are disrespectful off the Sphinx which is missing its head..by leaning on it.. feels like the establishment looking after this should be more vigilant if people are to enjoy this going forward.

I have seen the Jupiter's temple before only from the outside, and this was my first visit to its interior. Quite impressive - especially the vaulted ceiling, and Jupiter's statue. It would have been nicer if the later Christian generations did not mess with it - but thanks to them converting it into a baptistery it survived, most likely. Inside you can see the information about the temple posted on the door.

This is a small temple that won't take long to visit. There is a bit of information about the history available which was again Croatian and English - possibly other languages too but can't remember for certain! You can buy a ticket for here alone or as part of a multi ticket for other attractions that works out cheaper if visiting the others anyway. On its own this will only need around ten minutes to visit.

It is sad to say that a two thousand year old monument that's mostly preserved in tact can be disappointing, but the fact of the matter is, that it is. This is a very simple structure with one empty room. The Roman details are fairly well preserved , especially on the ceiling and on the portal, but there is simply not enough there to hold interest for more than 10 minutes, at best. Admission is included in the Split Cathedral pass which runs 50-80 Kuna.

The temple is small. If you are interested in roman temples, you might like it. But not worth visiting with a ticket. And during peak season, there will be a big queue at the ticket counter.

This is a small attraction in Split but very old and full of history. It was one of my favorite places in the town. Don’t miss the details of the building they show the age and he importance of this place. This is included in the ticket to visit the cathedral.
