I accidentally called this number looking for a different company of the same name. The woman who answered was abusive and extremely rude towards me and my company - she has never met or spoken to me before and knows nothing of my business but felt she was in a position to criticise me personally and professionally. I wouldn't stay here and would advise others to avoid it as well if this is the way she feels is reasonable to speak to entire strangers.

A lovely clean well looked after apartment.

National marine aquarium is great for a few hours. Well set out and a lot of exhibits for children and adults. For some reason I was allowed to convert a normal ticket to a years ticket for free. A nice surprise. You won’t find anything else quite like this in the UK if you are into sea creatures

We had a delightful visit today. The staff was pleasant and attentive. The aquariums were alive and teeming with underwater wonders. The entire place was impeccably clean, and it was evident that the animals were well taken care of with dedication and love. This added to the overall experience of observing the thriving and healthy creatures in the aquariums. The larger exhibits were incredibly fascinating, captivating us for extended periods as we constantly discovered new things. While the price may be a bit high, the fact that it's valid for an entire year makes it well worth it, especially if you live within driving distance.

First visit having seen the documentary. Great use of space and exhibits. Good that there is more than one viewing area as we visited on a weekend and with families it was very busy. Very good information and signage, best take your time viewing as not able to backtrack easily to re-see things you may have missed.

Had a great time here. Quite busy, 12-3 on a Saturday. Very good wheelchair access. Spent ages just watching the huge tanks, better than TV! Staff all very helpful.

Was really good, went here for my girlfriend's birthday and we both loved it and will be back. Highlight is definitely the massive tank, where you get three or four views into it, including a massive, floor to ceiling, curved window that allows you to see the whole thing. On top of that, you also get free return within a year when you visit, all in all super impressed!

I've made the online booking, and it was easy to enter the building. The staffs were really helpful. I have opted for the morning 10 to 11 slot, which was less crowded. Aquarium is good and well maintained. However, I felt like 25£ per adult is too much, but kids or toddlers would definitely enjoy this place.

Fantastic day out - staff obviously love their jobs and I can see why. Amazing place to spend time - clearly they are passionate about the Aquarium and the animals they care for... Saw this on Secrets of the Aquarium and was determined to see it for myself... my son and his family along with my sister, her daughter and I had the bestt day out there... Interesting, informative displays, excellent facilities and a perfect chilled put vibe... 👌 Perfect

Really fun place to visit. Great for adults and kids. There were a few areas that could have done with a bit more info. Lots to see and do, even a boat wreck to see with the sharks! Only negative was the cafe, food looked past it’s best, with a very limited menu so we ate elsewhere.

Absolutely amazing experience! The tanks are very well designed and their marine environments perfectly compliment the beautiful fish inside them. The shark tank was great as was the huge 'cinema' tank with seating to relax for awhile and maybe catch a talk or two from the very knowledgeable staff. All the displays have tons of information and the language is accessible to all ages. Definitely recommend a visit. Please beware the café and bar are a bit expensive, so budget that in.

Fascinatling, especially very big aquarium with sharks and stingrays. So many different species of fish and sea creatures. Had a wonderful few hours. Definitely will go back in a future.

Went in summer holidays so very very busy. Ticket price 25 pounds per adult !! and add parking your car in a very tight car park 8.50. All indoors, cafe and toilets. Had a nice day but would say go in winter months.

Good for all children, big and small! Parking is close by which is not too expensive but not the cheapest. This is not run by the aquarium, so they have no control over it. Lots of great exhibitions showing loads of marine animals from over the world. Extras you can do are private feeding and backstage passes.

This surely must be the jewel of Plymouth. What a fantastic place and venue. Most weekend's you'll find the aquarium turns into a concert venue and puts on Candlelight concerts featuring: Vivaldi, Coldplay, Taylor Swift etc. Great staff, food and now offering a ticket deal where you buy one ticket and get access for the whole year.

A wonderful collection of marine nature. We visited in the year it opened 1998, and it was marvellous. Having just visited in 2024 it did not disappoint and is as exciting, educational and enchanting as ever. The staff are all very cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable. We will be back hopefully sooner than 2050!

So what do you do when you have guest? Well you go to the Aquarium is what you do. Great location, excellent staff and the fish are well behaved HA! At first you do think it's a little pricey, however the tickets last a year and you can visit again and again. So give it a go, we will again.

Very nice place to go around, BUT it was very expensive, just the two of us . The price was £ 41.00 .but saying that it is worth a day out. The staff are very friendly and helpful. When you get to end, you can sit down in the In the cafe and something to have a drink and food .

A good 2 hour experience and plenty of close up action to large fish, rays, sharks and a cheeky turtle called Friday. Hang around for the interesting talk about sharks - get there at least 15 minutes early for a seat. I honestly thought The Deep at Hull and the Blue Planet Aquarium near Chester were better and the shop here wasn't very good but the kids loved the fish displays and your ticket gives you free entry for a year and all ticket proceeds go to charity.

A great place in a lively part of town. Offering a great selection of food, generous portions and all perfectly cooked. We had squid and parfait to start, squid was delicious and tender. We were lucky to have the Chateaubriand, there was just one available (worth calling ahead) Definitely recommend booking ahead.

Great food and the truffle mayo and parmesan fries were the best ever!! Staff friendly and professional. Only down side was the mashed potato hubby had, was on the cold side of aired - admittedly they replaced it straight away with an individual bowl of the same, unfortunately this too was aired at best. That being said hubby was happy with rest of the meal, with the steak cooked perfectly.

Not a cheap place by a long shot. But you get what you pay for, we'll worth it. Food was amazing. Service spot on. Would definitely go again for next special occasion.

Had been before, enjoyed, come back again and enjoyed. Very reasonable menu, reasonably priced, well prepared and presented. Not mind blowing, but bank busting either. Pleasant ambiance and friendly service. Enjoyed the evening, would recommend and will be back.

A real gem in the South-West! We have visited Barbican Kitchen 3-4 times now, on our visit to see family in Plymouth, from London. We always make a point to have a date night here. It is our most favourite place to eat, even amongst the Michelin-starred restaurants we have been to. We just love the cosy, unstuffy, relaxed atmosphere of this restaurant. The ingredients are always the best quality, seasonal and fresh- this is reflected on the pleasantly ever-changing menu. We love trying different plates and love the recommendations from the staff. The prices for plates are more than fair - they reflect the quality of the cooking, the ingredients and the service. We know that if this were in London, we'd likely pay more than double our bill for the same food! The variety of options are truly exciting. Portion sizes are just perfect, if not generous. There is something for everybody and every 'food-mood' you are in. My partner has thoroughly enjoyed their beef burgers and loves their grilled steak options! I have a personal affinity for the 'catch of the day' and the other fish dishes on offer. I also often find myself dreaming about my next encounter with their sticky toffee pudding... A special mention must be made for the staff that work here (won't name names for privacy reasons). Attentive, not intrusive or pressurising and incredibly welcoming. Always vigilant of when we need a top-up of water! We love how friendly, polite and genuinely informative the staff are here. They go over and beyond to make sure that you are well looked after. They are the real gems of this place along with the exquisite food; just seriously lovely people that you want to see again. Well done, Tanner Brothers! See you soon!

We chose this place at random. Excellent decision! Lovely friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Good choice on the menu too. I had the ox cheek which was delicious and almost melted in my mouth. My husband had the hake which he thoroughly enjoyed. We treated ourselves to pudding, I had chocolate fondant and Simon had the cheeseboard. Overall a great experience and if we were to visit Plymouth again we would definitely eat here.

Sharing some photos of a memorable meal at the Barbican Kitchen. There was a relaxed informal atmosphere, excellent food and friendly, efficient service. I was pleased to see that the menu has a varied list of vegan choices as well as vegetarian and meat-containing options. Good to see that there is a set menu as well as à la carte options. July 2023: another excellent meal with good atmosphere and excellent service. Please see the photos of hummus, sweetcorn risotto, ribeye steak and chocolate mousse.

Exquisite meal here last night, which also happened to be my first visit at The Barbican Kitchen. It is on the pricier side, however the quality of the food is amazing and very well presented which makes it worth it. I’d recommend the caramelised onion and goats cheese tart and butternut squash risotto…. both were divine. The truffle and parmesan fries are also a MUST - they’re the best I’ve had! Service was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant itself was cosy and inviting. Highly recommend if you’re looking for somewhere just that little bit more special.

Food was very tasty however prices were on the high side. There was a good range of dishes on the menu, however service was a little slow and the waitress wasn’t the most welcoming. Probably would visit again but for the food only. It is however in a pretty location and decor is nice.

Amazing food, service and setting. Tucked away. Its a real gem. It has a lift as well.

31 May 2023 The Barbican Kitchen is located in the same building as Plymouth Gin Distillery, and has been one of our favourite since we've studied 14 years ago. It's owned by Tanner brothers whom used to have an amazing Michelin star restaurant (sadly closed down) nearby. It was a natural choice for us to dine here on our last night in Plymouth, and it really did not disappoint! I had pressed plum tomato terrine and seared wild sea bass and hubs had chicken liver parfait and slow cooked Westcountry lamb shoulder... all of which the ingredients were so tasty and didn't need much sauce. Tomato were bursting with flavour, sea bass and lamb were really really nicely done.

Great food. Duck egg starter was absolutely excellent and pork belly main also. Attentive, but not pressured service. Price reasonable as well for quality. All round recommend.

3 of us had the spider crab as a starter. Fabulous! All mains were good too. Service was excellent. Consistently good. And a firm favourite.

A great local theatre that is well laid out and easily accessible ... a great variety of shows available to see here, something for everyone!! From panto to touring iconic musicals there have always been helpful welcoming staff ... and we will definitely be returning!! ❤️

Not a bad seat in the house. I've been here for many shows, downstairs and upstairs and all the seats are good. They always have a good selection of shows from critical faves to jukebox musicals from the West End. Staff are friendly. The location is good. It's a great theatre.

Very easy to get to and parking was right next door. Very easy ways to pay contactless for car parking. Staff very welcoming and efficient. Show was excellent. Seating was more comfortable than I thought as we were sat for 3 hours. View was excellent even from the budget seat we had. Very easy to get out especially as there were 1300 people all leaving at the same time.

Visited for the panto at Christmas with family. My teenagers enjoyed it. Visually it was amazing. Seemed a bit short but nevertheless we had a great night out. Ice-cream is a must at the interval.

Awesome show, tonight. Joe Pasquale knows how to knock out a panto, alright! Staff were exceptionally helpful, friendly and polite. Shows are NOT socially distanced, so please be aware of that fact before you book. Seats could be a little wider, so if you're bigger built, try an aisle seat or the arm rests might dig in slightly. Otherwise, fantastic, clean good atmosphere, all at a decent price.

Great Venue at the heart of the Plymouth city centre, pay parking facilities short walking distance to the entrance, also located on the side of the main road with bus routes. Easy to use for wheelchair users from the ground level. Friendly and helpful staff. Cafe and bar available with umper seating places in foey.

The show (Buddy) was amazing. However, the seats were uncomfortable and needed to be replaced. Take a cushion to sit on if you go.

A gem of a place!! We went to see the Welsh National Opera La Traviata. It was outstanding!! The leading lady had an incredible voice!! & the cast were brilliant. Costume & set design were beyond fabulous. Staff were really friendly. Highly recommended!! My only grizzle was that when we arrived, a woman had selfishly stolen our seat, to pile up all her coats!! So our view was slightly obstructed by the top of the balcony as we had to shift along one seat. Not the Theatre's fault though. A cloakroom (chargeable) to leave coats would help!!

Been here many times. High quality performances. The seats upstairs are a bit limited.

1st time visiting and went to see The House with Chicken Legs Production was good. Personal opinion, 2nd half was better than the 1st. Theatre is small but modern, Bonus is that any ticket you get will be pretty close to the stage. Drinks, snacks and ice-creams available with seating in the foyer at half-time. 'Messenger' sculpture outside is impressive.

🎭Saw a matinee performance of Agatha Christine. "And then there were none." Amazing 👏 we drove from Exeter to see this, and it was well worth it ! 👌 Will definitely be visiting again, do get to the car park next door early otherwise you'll be parking right at the too !

Edward Scissor Hands was absolutely wonderful. Dancing was superb. Sets were magnificent. Definitely worth the standing ovation.

I have only recently discovered the theatre royal - part of my family lives in Devon (we are London based) and I absolutely love it. Accoustics and view from pretty much any sear are great. Recommended

Went to see 'And then there were none', booked late and got a seat in the upper circle. On arrival found that the upper circle was empty apart from the first three rows, found out why as soon as the play started, they had no microphones so couldn't hear a thing. Spent the whole play reading the subtitles on the screen above the stage. Absolute rubbish. Gave feedback to TRP customer experience team and after 3 weeks no reply, awful.

Lovely place, unfortunately the main house was closed but a few outer buildings open, all very nice. Lovely gardens and location next to the estuary.

Atmospheric park, picturesque gardens with lovely views over the hills. I assume it is a highly enjoyable place for a whole family to visit all year round. We were lucky to catch their nutcracker installation. Over 30 Christmas trees, thousands of lights accompanied by the Tchaikovsky music. Children get a treasure maps to explore. Do pay a half day to visit it !

Every time we visit there's some sort of event going on and it's always really well thought out and ran by the volunteers. The Christmas ball event is really good and well planned out. A beautiful old estate with tons of history.

Nice house and small grounds, but not remarkable and disappointingly not at all dog friendly. Dogs are not allowed into the grounds at all, but I'm not sure why this is because they are not manicured, walled, or formal gardens. An explanation would be useful as this is unlike nearly every other National Trust property. It was a very short visit, as we were forced to leave the dog in the car, and even on a cool day this is not ideal.

Great day out especially if you have a 4 legged friend. The route is circular and I'd fairly level all around apart from one area. Dogs are allowed off lead for a lot of the area, and there are some stunning views across to Plymouth.

A beautifully kept house and gardens. The house is a stunning property with meticulously decorated rooms and gorgeous original fixtures, fittings and furniture. The gardens spread on for miles, with quaint walks around the house, you’ll find the chapel and a decadent orangery which houses their collection of trees. This is a tranquil place outside the bustle of the city. Really worth a visit if only for a walk. The Christmas events are also incredibly impressive.

Considering we're heading into winter and today was a tad damp, what a great place. The house had the Nut Cracker display throughout the house and a well done to the staff at Saltram. Excellent effort. The grounds are great even at this time of year. Will we return? Indeed we shall. Stopped off at the Chapel cafe for a tea and hot chocolate plus a warm treat 😋.

The gardens are lovely, some formal, some naturalised, lovely assessable footpaths. Plenty of tea and cakes. The house on my visit was only half open, guides in every room. Well worth a visit. There is also shops that sell gifts, plants and huge second hand book shop.

Nice place for a walk. Really beautiful garden with a lot of spots to have a rest. We liked 100 years tree and a small house at the end with a tonnel underneath. Main House contains a lot of art pieces. I think it’s really freandly place for dogs also. Unfortunately the second floor and kitchen were closed.

We had a really wonderful visiting over Easter. They did lovely games for the kids in the garden. We had a lovely time walking around the grounds and viewing the house. Very beautiful. Plenty of parking. Would recommend a visit here

Beautifully decorated for Christmas, a lot of thought, effort and time had obviously gone into this. Well worth taking a look, although you do have to book a time slot.

Beautiful building! The artwork and decor are exquisite. If you're a fan of 1995 Sense and Sensibility, you will recognize the building and great stairwell. The garden is beautiful and a great way to spend a day. Plenty of parking. The gift shops and cafés staff are amazing and very pleasant.

Had a great time looking around house and gardens, so much to take in, would go back to see more, loved the kitchens, great volunteers who were very knowledgeable. Terrific cheese scones with cheese and pickle.

Lovely walk with family and friends. Didn't go into the house or gardens but looked lovely. Some areas people haven't picked up dog poo but majority have and the areas are clear from rubbish. Was busy heading into the car park but there were plenty of spaces. Little park for small children near the cafe and toilets.

Loved our first visit, will return when all rooms are open. Lots of artefacts to view and large gardens/ground to walk around. Enjoyed walking down to the small beach and viewing Plymouth.

Team all very helpful and enthusiastic, the Christmas theme was beautiful, extremely well executed and well worth a visit..... Really Christmassy!! As with a lot of National Trust houses in recent years, you can only experience a very small portion of the house (I think there were probably 6 rooms) as the rest is closed off for other purposes such as holiday lets. Definitely worth a visit, absolutely beautiful interior, just sad that we can't see more of it!!

A really good day out. The house is lovely. The volunteers really brought history to life. Particularly liked the kitchens, we had a great couple of guides explain how everything worked. The grounds too are very good, there are lots of lovely walks, one of them goes right down to the river. Well worth a visit.

Really loved this beautiful house and gardens.Such a shame though you don't get to see much of the house just a few rooms. The staff were incredible.Very knowledgeable and helpful.

A visit today with Mum to see their Christmas in Bloom display. Once again, a lovely aray of colourful lights, around different 18th-century Georgian scenes. Well worth a visit to this lovely stately home & gardens.

If you are in Plymouth for any reason, you absolutely must check out the Plymouth Gin Distillery! Great shop full of goodies, easily the best cocktail bar in Plymouth attached to the distillery, the head bartender Coco was incredible & made sure my visit was memorable (as well as making one of the best martinis I’ve ever had). The tours are great as well, regardless of how experienced you are with gin. Beth was sublime as our guide! Incredibly knowledgeable & charismatic. Made the history of gin fun to learn & get everyone involved. Thank you to everyone at the distillery, could not have been more friendly & guest welcoming!

We went on the Master Distillers Tour and it was fantastic! We were given a gift voucher for Christmas and i can highly recommend this as a gift for anyone (gin lovers or not) Our tour party guide was Naomi and she was very informative, funny , entertaining and answered any questions with ease. Unfortunately due to some roof maintenance and repairs there was considerable scaffolding erected in part of the building but we were still able to view this area . It just hampered photos slightly. The history of the company and of gin itself was very interesting . The tasting was very well laid out in a very nice room/bar. We never thought gin could taste so different just adding water! Onto the gin producing area ( reminded me of school chemistry lessons!) and we tried some cocktails before mixing our botanicals and adding to the alcohol. It was great to see the mixture bubbling and rising up through the tubes and then condensing back into a collecting bottle as gin! Really looking forward to trying it ( recommended to leave it for 24 hours) After this we went to the relaxing bar for a complimentary cocktail of our choosing. (Our 9th gin!) Overall a very well presented and organised experience. We would definitely visit again as it was so informative and interesting and great fun.

We did the standard tour which was really good. Harriet, our guide, kept it light and fun whilst providing plenty of information, and it was good value given it included a tasting of each of their products followed by a drink in the very impressive cocktail bar. Highly recommended.

Always pop in for a bottle of Plymouth Gin when I'm down. This time we went upstairs to the gorgeous Cocktail Lounge. Well worth a visit.

Great to find out about how Plymouth gin started and to see how it is produced. A true original. Great guide and gin tasting experience followed by a relaxed afternoon in the lounge/cocktail bar. Certainly a visit not to be rushed!! Mr Kings and the Fruit cup real favourites!!!!

Hugely entertaining tour. I was the only one on the opening time tour (train to catch!) so the detail and information was in depth and very interesting. To see the pot still actually 'at work' and the master distiller going about his business was fascinating. I particularly enjoyed the ingredients section where you can sense the Plymouth gin aroma coming together. And tasting the wares just topped it off! (I recommend the Fruit Cup!) Many thanks to the tour guide and the lady in the shop who helped to book a taxi. HUGELY enjoyable!!

Had a great tour here on a Saturday. It was good to do something as simple as squash and sniff the botanicals ingredients and our guide was very positive in the narrative. Ended up spending too much in the shop, the 10% discount was put to good use!

definitely a sight to visit in Plymouth. Will come back for the TOUR. this time only went in for a few drinks. Great service and lovely staff. Had the “Mr. King’s Recipe” and don’t regret it at all! Make sure to buy some bottles on your way out. If the store is closed you can fetch some bottles at the bar. Cheers

Only £15 for a Gin tour. It was very interesting and good value for money. We had a try of a few different gins and learned how it was made.

The Master distillers tour was superb. Beth was a font of all knowledge and no question was to dumb to entertain. Thoroughly recommended and steeped in history. Plan not to drive home! 10/10

This was a great experience. Me and my girlfriend did the regular tour and we enjoyed it so much. I would absolutely recommend coming here if you're in Plymouth. Thanks to Beth for being an amazing tour guide and explaining the history of the distillery with great detail and enthusiasm. We had to buy a bottle of the Plymouth Sloe Gin after the tasting session🍷. We will definitely come back and do the extended two-hour tour next time!

Lovely 🥰 you must be careful to don’t take wrong way and get lost that happened to us 😁😂but all was just an amazing experience.🙃 You can also camp 🏕 there carful also where you park your brand new car as are many horses 🐎 and they could scratch by passing by. Also take water with you for a long walk

I love Burrator. It's perfect for either a short stroll or the 3.9-mile walk around or even as a base for longer hikes. It's beautiful, easy to get to as well as super relaxing.

Burrator Reservoir is nature at its best; breath taking, beautiful & dramatic set in a remote & tranquil area. The sheer force & sounds of gushing water on one side of Reservoir, with serene & calm lake on other side provide such contrast. The depth of Reservoir is both menacing & exciting with it's lake, a great habitat for many birds. There are many walks surrounding Reservoir area, both via road & alongside river. Can be quite cold & wet during winter months so wear appropriate clothing /footwear. Toilets near Reservoir although did not appear to be open.

Beautiful area to walk around, the dam itself is also stunning. Walk on the west side of the Reservoir a few 100 meters up the road and you'll find a nice waterfall.

Great place for a family walk also nice and flat for people with mobility issues and we managed to grab a coffee and ice cream from the ice cream van 😃

Very helpful chap in the Discovery center, he told us the history behind the reservoir. We got some leaflets for walks, did 2 of them, really lovely walks. So peaceful and beautiful. Well worth exploring.

Beautiful shady walk round the lake. Followed the shore and then on to lane... All round the reservoir. Very helpful SW Lakes Trust gentleman at the Discovery centre gave us lots of info.

I went here with my wife and a couple of friends. The hiking trail to reach there was amazing. We walked for about two hours to be greeted with this amazing views. I recently visited this location with my wife and a couple of friends, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. The journey began with a captivating hiking trail that left us in awe. The trail itself was nothing short of amazing, offering a perfect blend of adventure and natural beauty. We embarked on a two-hour hike, immersing ourselves in the breathtaking surroundings. The scenic vistas unfolded gradually, rewarding our efforts with stunning views at every turn. The lush greenery, towering trees, and the invigorating scent of nature created a serene atmosphere that rejuvenated our spirits. As we reached our destination, we were welcomed by an awe-inspiring sight. The views were simply breathtaking, stretching far and wide, and leaving us speechless. The effort we put into reaching this point was undoubtedly worth it. In addition to the stunning views, the location also provided a great opportunity for photography enthusiasts like us. We captured countless moments, each frame showcasing the natural splendor we were lucky enough to witness. Overall, our visit to this location was an incredible adventure filled with awe-inspiring beauty. The hiking trail leading us there was exceptional, and the views we encountered were nothing short of magnificent. I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking a memorable outdoor experience that will leave you in awe of nature's wonders.

Brilliant walk. We parked near the arboretum and did the whole circular walk. Only took 2.5hrs with a small picnic stop half way round near the dog exercise area (the only part of the walk dogs are allowed off lead near the resevoir).

Good for a quick visit as it is just the reservoir there. On road parking, toilets available but very dirty when we visited in November. Ice cream van present, also selling hot choc. Nice views over the water and forest.

Beautiful warm day for October and a walk around the reservoir. Lots of people enjoying the area, pity about all the cars disturbing the peace.

Lovely walks.... We didn't follow a specific walk, just flowed our noses and enjoyed a good few hours exploring. Great for the dogs. Very quiet. There was an ice cream van (we went on a Monday)

3 night stay with friends. Had a lovely, well equipped apartment with a fantastic view. Ate at Wildwood and Pho, both very enjoyable restaurants with friendly helpful staff. RWY is a fabulous place to stay and use as a base to visit other locations.

There needs to be more there plus public bathrooms. March it's desolate. Nice walks great part along the water but a whole of nothing much. Could be a great tourist area with more tourist stores and things to do. It's a great space but boring

Went to RWY to hear some live music on Friday as one of the free events put on and then dinner at Pho. Really enjoyable evening with friends and Wimbledon was streamed on a big screen on the lawn. Great place to relax, we took our own snacks and drinks for the music but there is plenty of choice of venues to eat and drink

Royal William Yard is a great place to visit, great views of the marina and plenty of really good food places to visit. You can travel by car or get a bus with plenty of on-site parking. Would recommend, especially when they have a market/food festival.

Great place to spend an hour or two. Plenty of history and views across the water. Good places to sit and take it all in and have a drink and food. Catch the ferry across to Mount Edgecombe.

Royal William Yard is a really stylish development to the south west of Plymouth. There are independent and chain restaurants and retail all arranged sensitively within beautiful old architecture and right next to the water. There are lots of great photo opportunities around the area, which looks out onto the miniature islands nearby and to the ocean on the south side. You can also get a ferry around the headlands, depending on tides and weather. It’s well worth a visit.

I have visited the Royal William Yard on several occasions and it's my go to place when staying in Plymouth. . The area has been magnificently restored by Urban Splash and a significant number of the former military buildings have been converted into apartments, restaurants, businesses, and leisure venues. . Day or night, there is always something new to discover when exploring the areas surrounding the 'yard' and for a novice photographer like me, the location offers a wonderful mix of buildings and scenery to capture. . I've stayed in private let's and rooms by Bistrot Pierre and all offer their own individual charm. The area has a real community feel and is definitely not a commercial tourist trap, which is surprising to those that haven't visited because many of the restaurants are part of larger chains. Don't let this put you off, each venue is very in keeping with the vibe. . The location of the William Yard means that Plymouth city centre is only a short journey by car or public transport. It's also really easy to access the Tamar Bridge to make a day trip to Cornwall. . In summary, if you're heading to Plymouth forget staying in the city centre and go for the Royal William Yard. You definitely won't regret it

Lovely little area in Plymouth, good food places to pick from here. Sadly only one shop here, would love to have had more shops here. Nice walks that can be done in this area.

Beautiful place with lovely views and historic buildings. Great places to eat out and summer time outside eating is lovely. Stairs at back lead to coastal path and green in front of Pierres is great for picnics etc

What a fantastic place to visit. Wonderful historic buildings to look at a d plenty of place to sit and eat/drink. Carpark was £1 per hour which we thought was fair. Looked at the sea through a Wonderful archway and sat in the late afternoon sunshine. Very pleased that we were encouraged to visit this place.

Nice campsite but not very level make sure you have your chocks. It also has no toilet block which we failed to notice but site manager Kevin very nice chap. Biggest problem for us was the distance from Plymouth town centre itself..over five miles and costing £14 a time in a taxi. Our fault as we thought there would be buses etc but there wasn't. So we had to leave the van and book into a hotel in town for a couple of nights as we were attending several events. It worked out fine in the end and we knew the van was safe with CAMC.

This was our first visit to this amazing site, but won't be the last.The warden was so helpful and enabled us to setup on one of the many beautiful pitches looking out to sea. With careful planning (the bus service is quite tricky!) , we were able to walk the beautiful coast path from Plymouth to Salcombe. The Mussel Inn just a 5 minutes walk away was superb, we ate there twice.

A beautifully well maintained site due to the very caring wardens. Whilst there are no shower/toilet blocks the views over Plymouth Sound more than make up for any inconveniences! Love it 💖💖💖 Most evenings a young man brings his bird of prey..a Bengal 🦉 Owl over to the field behind the site to exercise and gives a very entertaining chat. Happy memories 💜😗

We have visited this site a few times over the years. Sadly the club have increased their prices again but there have been no improvements to the site. No toilet / shower block which could be down to planning permission. No hard standing pitches. No additional stoned access tracks. Therefore when you have a little rain it can be quite challenging to get off the site even with a 4 x 4 motor home. The lanes leading up to the site are very narrow in places especially the final tight bend approach so it’s best to check out first before booking. However this is a truly magnificent place with amazing views across Plymouth sound & of course Bovisand beach which is a 10 / 15 minute steep walk down from the site. The wardens are very friendly & really do their best to look after everyone especially when you get stuck in the mud while trying to get out.

We spend 2 nights at this beautiful. amazing view campsite, very nice and clean thanks to the excellent service Kevin and Anita are providing. It‘s really worth spending a couple of days in this lovely and romantic scenery.

Wonderful quiet site with stunning views. Close to ferry port, so we stopped overnight. The warden Kevin was so welcoming after our nearly 9 hour trip which was lovely. He suggested a pub the Mussel Inn, a 5 minutes walk away to eat, the chef is off tonight but there is a pizza van in the car oark. Seriously delicious and you can take them into the pub and have a drink with them! It's nice weather tonight I suspect it could be windy up here at times but even so it's dramatic scenery , sheep, bats, and the sunset is lovely. Tomorrow there's a beach shack for breakfast pre going to ferry port that people have recommended. I read previously the roads are small and yes they are in this area but there are passing points and we managed and its well worth it for this beautiful start to our holiday. The warden was lovely. So helpful & informative. The 2 mile approach to this site is not fun! Very narrow in places & not fun when meeting vehicles & pulling your caravan! Getting out yesterday on our way home was quite hairy especially when a vehicle won’t go back so have to squeeze through with literally an inch to spare then 3 more vehicles did the same. Views are lovely but quite windy. Lovely dog walk on site. We drove down the lane to Bovisand beach which is quite tight & steep so is a definite no to walking it as have 2 dogs & mobility issues. Only a turning spot, no parking at all. Really needs to be a sign outside the site saying no vehicular access or parking to beach. Great Wi-Fi on site, good phone data signal, tv reception good.

The view as always stunning. Site due to bad weather not the best. The site water logged. The wadens just back from few days off had a lot on there hands to come back to. Just a shame the caravan & motorhome club don't think about putting in hard standing. For motorhomes and people that are disabled . ( Just a thought)

A fabulous site overlooking Plymouth sound. Wonderful views, pitches are well-spaced, and site is very clean and well-maintained. Electric, and all the usual service points are easy to access. No showers/WC, so come equipped!

Very interesting tower with stunning views. A lot of steps to climb to get to the top but we'll worth it.

This is a pretty special place, I rely enjoyed my time spent here. We walked up the tower, entrance was £5 each if I remember correctly, very interesting and we had a fabulous guide who was from Poland perhaps who was full of interesting knowledge about the tower and Plymouth in general. A wonderful place to visit.

Admission to this former Eddystone Lighthouse is just £5 for adults and half that for children. It is a fascinating attraction and the views of the City and Plymouth Sound from the top of the 72 foot high tower are quite spectacular! To get to the top there is a total of 93 steps, part stone spiral staircase, part ship's ladders and you have to duck A LOT, but it's well worth it!

The place is amazing and worth visiting and taking souvenir photos

Climb the Plymouth icon for just £5 (£2.5 for kids) amazing views out and both an external balcony and an internal viewing area right at the top. Not suitable for those with movement difficulties due to restricted headroom / steep narrow staircases.

A lighthouse from 18th century, it is even older than United States. Inside there are sets of ladders. Climbing to the top, viewing Plymouth sound from its best location. Nice for kids and family.

Well preserved, clean and must see iconic symbol of Plymouth. A fee will be charge for every person wanted to climb the tower.

I didn't go up it this time but sat on bench outside. People kept asking me questions about it. Glad I could answer as we went up to top not long ago. It's well worth all the steps.

Nice little lighthouse, worth a look if you are in the area

This was a fantastic lighthouse to visit, for which I received a concession of at just £2.50! The lady at the door was lovely, plenty of information is on display about the history and there is a wide variety of rooms. The replica settings really take things back in time, going up to the balcony is a top experience and spiral stairs are amazing!

Nice looking restored light house. You can get really close to this and go up it for a fee of 5 pound. Good views and plenty of grass area for picnics

An iconic symbol of Plymouth. Came here for our sons graduation, wonderful view wherever you turn surrounding the tower. Well worth a visit, cafe nearby and just s short stroll into the city centre 👍

We joined thousands of others, also wanting to show their support to our armed forces on arm forces day. We were treated to an amazing spectacle, and the live music was fantastic with the wall to wall sunshine 🌞 it was an excellent day even though we were all a little sun burnt 😀..

Great climb to the top. The steps are narrow and steep. Full of historical history, great view at the top even on a cloudy day. Adults cost £4 to climb and Children £2... Under 5s are free.

Cost £5 to go up for an adult. It was worth it for the ranging views and historical context/info inside. The tour guide is located half way up and is helpful. You can visit both the interior and exterior of the light house once you reach the top. WATCH YOUR HEAD!! Enjoy the views i posted here. Also there are a lot of step ladder steps to get up there! Be mindful if you have trouble climbing.

Great walk from the car park alomg the old railway line, now a cycle path. Cross over the viaduct then walk back down by the river. You can paddle in the river which is great on a hot day. There is also a heritage railway line that runs on Sundays this runs either steam or vintage diesel.

Plymbridge woods is my absolute favourite place. I love the variety of trails and the beauty of the woods never fails to lift my spirits. I've been visiting the woods for years and I am still discovering new things about it. Some of the trails are more popular than others and unfortunately these attract bad dog owners who don't pick their dog's mess up which is a shame. People need to learn to respect our natural beauty spots.

Still my favourite place in Devon 🖤 perfect for a short wander, a longer explore, or a challenging hike, so many routes and paths. Cycle trails are also apparently good, and easy to stay out of the way of if you're walking with your family or dogs. Some old settlement ruins to explore (be careful near the cliff edge). It's beautiful in all seasons. Please take your rubbish home with you x

Great place to spend the day young or old alike. Lovely river walks and plenty of open areas for swimming and having a picnic. Road a little tight to get down, but saying that we went down in our motorhome. Walks along the river give you plenty of opportunity to see Kingfishers Dragonflys and if really lucky an otter.

So many trails to choose from. Both car parks are not very big, but they can still accommodate many cars. Gets very busy when the weather is nice. There was ice cream van when we visited. Riverside paths are stunning. Very good cycling paths too. Can be muddy after rain though. Very popular for dog walkers.

We cycled along the path as cannot walk without my back hurting, never get over how beautiful this place is, also the peacefulness, hearing the river and the birds

Lovely place to walk in beautiful surroundings. Just have to dodge the dog poo! There's the steam railway which runs on a Sunday. And a coffee/tea van down there on a Sunday, not sure about other days. Lots of people cycling and running too.

A lovely spot full of history, quiet (The day we visited, but then it was raining!) well paced car parks. The map was a bit hard to work out where the trains started but once we worked it out it was lovely. Whether you follow the old canal, the river or the railway it’s a lovely walk.

Lovely walk, I believe it is a loop walk, but we did both sides of the river as out and back, with a snack break back at the car park.

Fantastic place for a dog walk. The woods are huge so we'll definitely be back for some more exploring.

We walked along the old Plym Valley railway path with our two dogs. I'd suggest keeping dogs on leads because bikes come so fast down the trail! It's a fairly easy path, but frustrating when in a wheelchair because of the camber of the path.

Every year, we make the journey to the tunnel. Love this place. Peace and quiet, great for cycling, walking, and spending time with the family

Lovely trail walks through the woods beside the waterways My first time there, would go again to try the other trails. Could be better signposting but other than that, clean, ample parking, good path ways and very scenic

Third visit here, lovely ace to walk around and explore, beautiful sea front steeped in history

I visited for the Holocaust Memorial Day service. Very moving speech from Dr Beckman and kaddish sung by Dr Bard. Otherwise rather corporate civil genuflection from the Council dignitaries that felt very much like a Council meeting. Would have liked to hear the testimonies and talks as in previous years, from Pastor Osee and Toby Gorniak MBE. Sad to see our Plymouth MPs not in attendance this year and that the talks were all in private at the Council Chambers. We need to keep the lived experience front and centre, however we do that as survivors pass on. Perhaps by recording them or speaking to their descendants.

I love this place, so peaceful. It's a safe area for children to have a good run around. Dog friendly. The cafes are lovely. There's plenty of toilets. The views are stunning. Plenty of space to sit for picnics. There's also a lovely park. I never get bored coming here, and I do regularly.

Stunning place. Never fails to lift my spirits. You can sit on a bench and look out to sea. Feel the fresh sea air blowing over you. Nice little cafe close by. If you love motorbikes, there's a bike night every Thursday.

The beautiful architectural design at the most wonderful place.

It is great to have an area like this to go to in a city. Big open space, parking, plenty of places to eat near by, amazing monuments, a lighthouse that you can go in at certain times at the cost of £5 per person and beautiful views reaching out to sea. A good place for families and children.

One of the three great naval memorials built by the CWGC to commemorate the missing of the Royal Navy from two world wars. Here at this Plymouth memorial are the names of 23,000 sevice personnel who have no grave but the sea. A place for quiet reflection on the cost of freedom.

It's an amazing place literally in the Middle 2 rivers either side and what a view. Although I think it could so with a make over as it hasn't changed in 40 years or more.

The last time I was here I had accidentally joined a memorial service and it was incredible. It is a very historical place full of memories for people of all ages. This particular memorial service was very heartwarming and full of respect and love to everyone and I will never forget the old man in the wheelchair so full of love he shed a tear. It was a beautiful day, I remember afterwards laying down in the grass and watching the clouds. I even saw the princess there (I believe princess Anne) paying her respects. This really is a wonderful place to visit if you get the chance.

Lovely place, unfortunately the main house was closed but a few outer buildings open, all very nice. Lovely gardens and location next to the estuary.

Atmospheric park, picturesque gardens with lovely views over the hills. I assume it is a highly enjoyable place for a whole family to visit all year round. We were lucky to catch their nutcracker installation. Over 30 Christmas trees, thousands of lights accompanied by the Tchaikovsky music. Children get a treasure maps to explore. Do pay a half day to visit it !

Every time we visit there's some sort of event going on and it's always really well thought out and ran by the volunteers. The Christmas ball event is really good and well planned out. A beautiful old estate with tons of history.

Nice house and small grounds, but not remarkable and disappointingly not at all dog friendly. Dogs are not allowed into the grounds at all, but I'm not sure why this is because they are not manicured, walled, or formal gardens. An explanation would be useful as this is unlike nearly every other National Trust property. It was a very short visit, as we were forced to leave the dog in the car, and even on a cool day this is not ideal.

Great day out especially if you have a 4 legged friend. The route is circular and I'd fairly level all around apart from one area. Dogs are allowed off lead for a lot of the area, and there are some stunning views across to Plymouth.

A beautifully kept house and gardens. The house is a stunning property with meticulously decorated rooms and gorgeous original fixtures, fittings and furniture. The gardens spread on for miles, with quaint walks around the house, you’ll find the chapel and a decadent orangery which houses their collection of trees. This is a tranquil place outside the bustle of the city. Really worth a visit if only for a walk. The Christmas events are also incredibly impressive.

Considering we're heading into winter and today was a tad damp, what a great place. The house had the Nut Cracker display throughout the house and a well done to the staff at Saltram. Excellent effort. The grounds are great even at this time of year. Will we return? Indeed we shall. Stopped off at the Chapel cafe for a tea and hot chocolate plus a warm treat 😋.

The gardens are lovely, some formal, some naturalised, lovely assessable footpaths. Plenty of tea and cakes. The house on my visit was only half open, guides in every room. Well worth a visit. There is also shops that sell gifts, plants and huge second hand book shop.

Nice place for a walk. Really beautiful garden with a lot of spots to have a rest. We liked 100 years tree and a small house at the end with a tonnel underneath. Main House contains a lot of art pieces. I think it’s really freandly place for dogs also. Unfortunately the second floor and kitchen were closed.

We had a really wonderful visiting over Easter. They did lovely games for the kids in the garden. We had a lovely time walking around the grounds and viewing the house. Very beautiful. Plenty of parking. Would recommend a visit here

Beautifully decorated for Christmas, a lot of thought, effort and time had obviously gone into this. Well worth taking a look, although you do have to book a time slot.

Beautiful building! The artwork and decor are exquisite. If you're a fan of 1995 Sense and Sensibility, you will recognize the building and great stairwell. The garden is beautiful and a great way to spend a day. Plenty of parking. The gift shops and cafés staff are amazing and very pleasant.

Had a great time looking around house and gardens, so much to take in, would go back to see more, loved the kitchens, great volunteers who were very knowledgeable. Terrific cheese scones with cheese and pickle.

Lovely walk with family and friends. Didn't go into the house or gardens but looked lovely. Some areas people haven't picked up dog poo but majority have and the areas are clear from rubbish. Was busy heading into the car park but there were plenty of spaces. Little park for small children near the cafe and toilets.

Loved our first visit, will return when all rooms are open. Lots of artefacts to view and large gardens/ground to walk around. Enjoyed walking down to the small beach and viewing Plymouth.

Team all very helpful and enthusiastic, the Christmas theme was beautiful, extremely well executed and well worth a visit..... Really Christmassy!! As with a lot of National Trust houses in recent years, you can only experience a very small portion of the house (I think there were probably 6 rooms) as the rest is closed off for other purposes such as holiday lets. Definitely worth a visit, absolutely beautiful interior, just sad that we can't see more of it!!

A really good day out. The house is lovely. The volunteers really brought history to life. Particularly liked the kitchens, we had a great couple of guides explain how everything worked. The grounds too are very good, there are lots of lovely walks, one of them goes right down to the river. Well worth a visit.

Really loved this beautiful house and gardens.Such a shame though you don't get to see much of the house just a few rooms. The staff were incredible.Very knowledgeable and helpful.

A visit today with Mum to see their Christmas in Bloom display. Once again, a lovely aray of colourful lights, around different 18th-century Georgian scenes. Well worth a visit to this lovely stately home & gardens.

Loved this place! Such a different and unusual experience to get here via the sea tractor. You can also walk back to mainland when the tide is low. There's a beautiful cove and a hotel

Oh my goodness, we found this place by accident and it was worth it. The view to come to this place is to die for. There are a lot of places for you to park your vehicle. Many locals come here to walk their dogs. You don’t have to pay to come to the island. Having said that when the tide is in you might have to use a local transport provided to cross the sea to the island and it’s pretty nifty it is a family friendly place to visit. The island itself is pretty small, but it has a great view and it’s worth it for you to climb the top of the hill to see the surrounding area.

Great little place with a lot of history. The hotel in the island is mighty pricey, over £550 a night!! But if you can afford it it’s well worth a look. Plenty of stunning views from the top of the island. You can also check out locations from the Agatha Christie movie that was filmed here. If the tide comes in you can ride the tractor through the waves back to shore.

Beautiful hotel and surroundings. Superb food. Extremely friendly staff. Only thing to make it better would be a swimming pool.

Utterly outstanding hotel. We have just spent the August bank holiday in the Tony and B suite and simply cannot fault the place. The staff are exceptionally attentive, The suite was gorgeous, the food and cocktails were incredible. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone and the 1920s Art Deco vibe is 2nd to none. Some of the decor is slightly tired but this just adds even more to the character. You truly feel like you have been transported back in time 100 years. We are already planning our next visit. Highly recommended.

What an amazing place. Step back to the 1920’s and enjoy the splendour. Stayed for two nights here. The whole experience was exactly as I had hoped. The building is outstanding. The staff are outstanding, the pub is outstanding (I know, a lot of outstandings) but it is outstanding. You must experience a sea tractor ride during high tide. One more thing. It’s not cheap but it’s worth it.

The 13th century pub on Burgh island is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a beer and some fish and chips (the squid was good). Service is not rapid but that’s not the main objective I suppose. Bigsbury beach is terrific for kids and dogs!

Very beautiful and picturesque place to visit. This place is also where one of the Agatha Christie films where set. (And then there were none)

Since visiting this island I have been cured of my dislike of liquorice and I have developed 20-20 vision in my left foot. Go there and behold the healing powers

Unique. At low tide you can walk across the beach or at high tide there is the water tractor taxi. Good walks. Hotel not open to casual trippers. But there is a pub. Really worth a visit.

It's an ideal beach. The scenery is fantastic. If you catch the tides right and mix that with great weather it's right up there with the best of them. Dog friendly in a couple of areas so great for furry family members. The sand is very clean albeit the occasional seaweed patch. The sea today was comfortably warm. The pilchard Inn is a gem. After a pint have a walk around the Island, fantastic rocky coves high grass, wild flowers and dusty paths. On a clear day I'm sure you'll sea France from the Huers hut, located at the top. (You can't miss it😂) Have a good day out!!

Excellent show at the Barbican theatre. The size of the theatre made it extra special

Loved it in here, such a cool venue we saw a comedian who was hilarious the bar in well stocked and the toilets clean.

Shorter than expected but great fun and we will visit again. Go and have yourself a good laugh and finish your week with a smile.

BRILLIANT alternative christmas show (again) - a fraction of the cost of the traditional pantomime but about 100 times better atmosphere!!

I never knew this was here! At first, I thought the sound of a Thai restaurant being (seemingly) connected to a theatre could be very hit or miss, but I was pleasantly surprised with how good this place was after I visited with a few friends! B Bar is definitely one of the best Thai restaurants that I've been to, and I've been to quite a few! The food was excellent, my panang curry was very tasty & had the perfect level of spice to it The spring rolls were some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant & really reminded me of my mother's home made ones! The staff were also lovely which is always a bonus! All in all, I would definitely recommend giving this place a try!

A Theatre that has very different proformances, up and close to the stage. Seth Lakeman was great.

This is such a great little cultural hub on the Barbican! Love the cosy feel of the theatre, the bar was heaving as they had some live music on, plenty of people enjoyed their Thai food (which I have sampled before and liked it) and there is a pretty good selection of drinks. I return here time and time again for any add the above and would highly recommend it!

Picturesque and full of history. Nearby shops and cafes on the Barbican too. Lovely all year round.

Great place to take pictures and read about the Pilgrim's voyage. A huge misconception is that this is the place where they actually stepped down. This part of the harbor was not even built by 1620, the actual steps are across the Barbican road on Castle Street between two buildings. And there's a black plaque on the side of the Pilgrim's Ice Cream that commemorates all the pilgrims who set sail. That was where the edge of the harbor was back then. All that being said, it is a great Memorial and amazing to see such history in one place.

Great location. Very historical site, great to read up on all the names of the first pilgrims on brass art design around memorial balcony. Very clean and close the lots of quality food establishments

“The Mayflower Steps are close to the site in the Barbican area of Plymouth, south-west England, from which the Pilgrim Fathers are believed to have finally left England aboard the Mayflower on 6 September 1620, before crossing the Atlantic Ocean to settle in North America. The traditional site of their disembarkation in North America is Plymouth Rock.” The steps themselves are not the original ones the Pilgrims left from for North America, in fact the Pilgrims weren’t from Plymouth at all, but rather East Anglia, and when their ship was damaged they had to stop at Plymouth for repairs before leaving from there for their final journey. Nearby is the Mayflower information centre and on the wall of the ice cream shop a list of the Pilgrims themselves. The steps are used to board local trips into Plymouth Sound and up the River Tamar. The monument is lovely and makes for a great photograph for tourists. The UK 🇬🇧 and USA 🇺🇸 flags stand either side. Worth a visit and it’s free!

The Mayflower steps memorial is on a great location which adds on the mystic of the historical context of the sail to America. You are two steps away from the aquarium and from the ferries, so you got nothing to lose to go and visit it. The view is peaceful and calming and if you stop to read the plaques you end up learning something new about it !!!

One of my favourite places to be in this country. No matter what the weather you can soak up the atmosphere of centuries past, do some great shopping and buy the best ice cream in Britain with the added bonus of fabulous views over Plymouth Sound. The only drawback is parking on a sunny day but if you're prepared to walk a little way to enjoy this wonderful place then its well worth it.

It's quite cosmopolitan and there are views and it leads to many restaurants, pubs, coffee shacks and also there are boats. Also just along from the Steps is the Aquarium... I'd visit, it's well worth the effort, so much going on at the Steps 😁

We always take a stroll to Plymouth Ho and The Barbican harbour when I visit my daughter and granddaughters..... whatever the season whatever the weather. Always on my to do list.

Interesting memorial to the Pilgrim Fathers departure for America in this historic part of Plymouth's Barbican. Plaques on the adjacent sea wall also highlight other famous arrivals and departures from Plymouth, including the return from Australia of the Tolpuddle Martyrs.

Nice museum displaying the history of the Pilgrims before travelling to America. Was a special visit for me as my ancestors John Alden, (ship crew) and Priscilla Mullins, (pilgrim) were on board. Nice visit in the area and good fish & chips!

Lovely relaxing place to spend a few hours and take in a harbour boat trip.

A very enjoyable walk along the waterfront with lots of history along the way. This historic landmark is the famous steps where the pilgrim fathers left to board the Mayflower and sail to North America.
