Very clean and interesting to visit, a must see in Ankara. Organisation in the front entrance could have been better (no one told me about the free minibus that can take you up to the main building) and there should be english speakers everywhere if they truly regard this as a top site. Also, to get an audioguide you must have cash and be prepared to wait as the attendant isn't always there... There are also schoolchildren everywhere and on wreath day (no telling when these coule be) the guards will tell you to stand back and wait until the event is over. No pictures allowed to be taken in certain parts of the museum. The cafe downstairs within the museum doesn't have too many options of both food and seating. Overall a good visit especially with the snow.

This area is Memorial Grave for First President of the Republic of Turkey. This is located in the city name Ankara. It's elegant, and the materials are very authentic. You can see the history of his wearing, weapons for the war, etc here. There is also a mode of changing positions between soldiers. Very nice.

By far the best thing to do in Ankara. Free entry and a lot of history packed into one place. .A museum area is contained in a series of linked rooms surrounding the main building at ground level which tells history. . A great memorial for one of the greatest leaders of all time

An architecture designed as bigger than usual human scale to illustrate the achievement of Ataturk. Extensive use of travetine as stone for the exterior and interior gives it a timeless feel. Come about 1130 to see the change of guards.

If you pass by Ankara and you like history, it's a must see place. The monument for Ataturk, the hero of Turkey. All free, a beautiful garden, audio guides in many languages. I met several Turkish people there and many children. They deserve more about their future. God bless Turkish people.

This is great place to be in Ankara, I also read its history and it's making process. This is a wonderful exhibition of architectural work.

Visiting the tomb of the first and the second presidents of the Republic, a big muniment where built to honor the memory of the nation great leaders and founders . The place is free, the museum is a must seen and you need to avoid the crowds during the weekends. The place is visited by hundreds everyday specially with the 100 years anniversary of the republic. There is a big car parking 🅿️, accessible to the public. The media center only with Turkish video displays with no subtitles , would be an advantage to have at least an English translation. The view from there to the City is magnificent and the garden surrounding the tomb monument.

Outstanding!! The best time to visit this marvelous place is after 3 PM. You need to leave backpacks at the security building at the main gate. Lockers are provided for free. A shuttle runs frequently between the entrance and the monument. Around 3:30 pm, the change of guards ceremony starts from the front stairs. There is a long stretch from there to the main building, which the iconic tomb is, of coarse, the heart of everything. Museum entrance is free, and I totally recommend to visit it before closing time at 5 pm. There is also a gift shop and a cafe in the museum. The staff are very professional, and helpful. The whole area is kept extremely clean. I enjoyed every minute of my experience.

A must visit nice place if you are in Ankara. Architectural and historical place, it's a public crowded place but well managed. They played anthem after some time don't know exactly when but during that everyone stopped with respect and listen to it, and that was a different experience. So quiet and its like time is paused. On entrance gate they took backpack and stored in a locker. Surrounding to the location you can see the street shopping places.

No other place in Turkey demonstrates the massive transformation of the country from an Islamic sultanate to a secular Republic, with a war of independence following world war one to massive modernization on the country. Leave 1.5-2 hours for perusing especially the large collection of Atatürk's personal books and i suggest reading all the signs and details at the museum.

We took a taxi to the site as it was nearly an hours walk from the hotel, which we converted to a £3 fare! The mausoleum was a very large but simple building in a huge square and parkland and it was pleasing to see so many people there to pay their respects. There were small museums on the site detailing aspects of the funeral and transportation of Ataturk's body and the whole thing was well done, no pomp or rampant nationalism but a definite sense of pride in his and the country's achievements.

Do not go on a sunny day, it gets really hot. The place is nice. Everything is free. The museum is really nice and big. The view is amazing. Must see if you are in Ankara.

Anıtkabir is a very special place for Turkish people. It holds a lot of sentimental value for the citizen of Turkish Republic. If you are visiting Ankara it should be a place to visit and you will learn a little about the Turkish history and the war of freedom. The museum part inside is okay, it is not too amazing however there are some good pieces. The museum shop closes early so if you are visiting afternoon you might want to check the shop section. During public holidays the place is generally packed, and during weekends it can be crowded too.

It's an interesting place, but there's nothing to do here more than once. The history of Ataturk is more interesting to Turks, no interesting facts were found for me personally. The territory is large and well maintained. The guard is not the best, in many countries the guard works much more organized and accurate, but you can see. Anitkabir is a place to feel the pulse of the history of Turkiye and contribution of Kamal Ata Turk and people of the country. The architecture is simply mesmerising and you feel like to be there for long. The ceremonial change of the guards in intervals is also nice to observe. The Museum is very rich with the historical evidences, photos, drawings, models, documents, artifices, replicas and lot more. It is important that you have enough time in hand to visit all the halls and premises within the establishment.

A good place to learn about the history of turkey and its independence. It’s dedicated to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his contributions to Turkish people. One can take their time off and visit it for a day. It has museums inside which are free so it’s a good place. There is a small cafe also before entering inside Anıtkabir which is cheap and good one. For tourists it’s an excellent place to take a good walk and make your lungs breathe fresh air. It closes at 4 pm so plan accordingly because walking through museums and reading about history will take almost 1-1.5 hours. All over it’s a good experience and a good place. One should definitely visit.

A gorgeous museum located on the hill in Ankara. The museum grounds alone are very scenic and beautiful. Items curated there are well lighted and labelled. Happened to have a musical performance going on when I visited. The acoustics are very good indeed. And the performance was very enjoyable. Enjoyed my visit thoroughly. Really wished I could have stayed longer. Spent 2.5hours there and it wasn't enough. Guess I will have to try to visit again ! Entrance Fee in 2022 - Sep : TL 75 * I hope they publish a new museum guide with all the items in it. Currently, it's split into multiple books with lots of items not in it. It would be of great interest to people who don't have the time or photographic equipment to capture all the great artifacts kept here.

A must see. An oasis of history. Beautiful gardens and incredible exhibition with meticulously cared for ancient artifacts. A wonderful space, inside and out.

A collection of artifacts starting from the Neolithic era up to the Roman era. The collections exhibited here are mostly discovered during the excavation around Ankara and Turkey. The descriptions are available in Turkish along with English. If you have extra money, you could pay more for an audio guide to help you learn things around the museum if you think reading is a bit inconvenient. It's highly recommended to go here if you are interested in Anatolian civilization history.

If you are visiting Ankara you should definitely visit this museum. It is a fantastic experience and you learn so much about history. Most artifacts go as far back as 6000 BC. It's clean and well cared. I would recommend purchasing audio guide option when buying tickets in order to understand what you are seeing. Highly recommend.

The Museum of Anatolian Civilizations is located in Ankara. It consists of unique and important archaeological artifacts which tell the history of Anatolia.

This is a fantastic and fascinating museum. You literally walk through the evolution of humanity from palaeolithic times to the Classical era. It’s well laid out (except you do have to backtrack a bit to get to the Classical section) and has a great collection with things I haven’t seen in other museums. Highly recommend if you are in Ankara.

If you visit Türkiye you must visit this museum. Within its walls are the items from all the places you visited across the country. Used my Museum Pass to skip the line. Arrived early to beat much of the crowds. Spent 3 hours walking all the halls and enjoying the treasures of Türkiye. Favorite was the Midas displays (Midas touch) and the artifacts and wall murals from Catalhoyuk which visited prior week (this is a 9,500 year old Neolithic city just south of Konya - still being excavated and had an estimated 20k population). They had some displays on lower level of items found locally just in past couple years - amazing what they are still digging up. Thanks to the staff too for all the great friendly service. They have some amazing items in the courtyard not to be missed. Great gift shop too.

Great collection, sections, and story telling. Museums in Turkiye are always nice to visit. It's nice that Turkish Museum Card has an application called "Museum Cards". I don't have to carry a card anymore and all the tickets and museum pass can be purchased in advance. I can also check all the museums available in certain cities before I visit.

Epic. Located in the Ankara Castle the museum is separated by sections, each representing different Anatolian culture, starting from Neolithic Çatalhöyük all the way to the Hellenistic era. I wish only that the Hittite section was bigger. Probably one of the most interesting sections was with the tablets found in Assyrian trading colonies that show us how the Bronze Age people were no different than us today. Marriage certificates, contracts, letters. If you are interested in ancient history - a must place to visit.

It is a wonderful place to really learn from the sibilizacions I recommend to come and visit and walk around, because there is also the castle, the small market and many places for some very good pictures.

It is amazing museum that you can a great collection of Anatolian artefacts. My favorites are the Anatolian Goddesses, Cybele, Hittite Sun Disk and the Deers.

You are lucky if you have annual museum card. For foreign tourist the price is around 8 eur. you eill be fascinated by the museum. Currently there are also the sculptures of Ankara Goats 🐐 if you wish to take a funny picture in the garden of the museum

It’s a very big museum with variety of antique pieces that you only can appreciate. We came early at the opening hours so it wasn’t that crowded and it took more than 2 hours to finish it all. They don’t have parking area but there are some auto parks nearby. They also have clean 🚾

I really loved the musum. As someone interested in history and the people, it gave me really good glimpse into the life and profession of the Turkish people in the past century. The other part of the musum, which included the collection of many things, from model trains and model ships, to hunting gear, submarine and ship parts, etc, was really interesting as well. I spend more than two hours there, and I think I should've spent more.

It's a museum that exhibit collection items of Koç family. It's a very nice experience. Entrance fee is 30 tl ($ 1.5). Highly recommended. Believe me, you won't be wasting your money.

Rahmi Koç Museum Ankara is a scaled down replica of the one in Istanbul. Cars, old radios, old bicycles, you name it. Personally, I consider these two museums one of the best in Europe, in their genre. This museum must be visited. It is located in the vicinity of the historical Ankara Kalesi. Next to the museum is another compact but very good private museum, Erimtan. If you walk 500mt down, you will have the opportunity to visit the crown jewel, Anadolu Medeniyetleri müzesi, (Anatolian Civilizations Muuseum). I will not explicitly list all item groups displayed at RMK museum, only to mention my favorites: The smiling Buddha figures collection of late Turkish comedian Zeki Alasya, an exceptional display of small Buddhas, primarily of ivory, and ceramics. I have never encountered a similar collection previously anywhere. Vintage radios, specifically two models, a Zenith Trans-Oceanic and a National. I have a sentimental connection to these because same models exist at my home, a souvenir of my late father. Zenith Trans-Oceanic was the royalty of short wave radios. It was manufactured by Zenith Electronics, from 1941 till 1979. During those years Zenith was a USA company, which was purchased by LG Electronics of South Korea in 1999. Next to RMK Museum, you can enjoy a good coffee and sweets at Divan Patisserie.

The museum building's interior is beautiful. It was a historical Ottoman inn (similar to Kızlarağası Inn in Kemeraltı Izmir). Compared to the Istanbul Museum, this place presents smaller exhibits. There are fewer machines and large transport items. However, the number of items and variety of collections is enormous. It is worth visiting this admirable museum.

It's simply great place to visit - lots of different models and original mechanisms all over the world, you'll find miniaturized ships and planes, rarity cars like Ford T or Messerschmitt KR200, the historical background of the museum building is also affected telling visitors the story of handicrafts in Ottoman Empire. The whole visit could take up to few hours because exposition is quite huge, but it's really worth it.

Its good place to visit and very nice street to view. The perfect and nice place to see the old structure of the turkey specially in Ankara. Narrow streets and best atmosphere. Highly recommended and best part is the nearest cafe and good quality of tea and coffee. Also there are many shoes shop which sell the shoes at wholesale rate.

Very beautiful historical place, it’s the historical city of Ankara before modern times, the castle itself surrounds an entire neighborhoods, the houses inside the castle are very beautiful and well-maintained, many cafes and cultural shops are inside, the castle itself is also beautiful but not well-maintained, it was under-maintained in my opinion and more care can be taken. Overall it’s a must-do activity to check out the historical area of the castle whenever you find yourself in the city.

Such a wonderful place I went to see in Ankara. You can the city from the top. It does have a breath taking view. When you try to navigate your way to the top try to use google map It is accurate enough to get you there. If you see someone trying to help you It is probably because they will ask for money at the end. Since it is high up it can real cold so wear something warm too.

It is one of the best traditional places to visit in Ankara. Make sure to wear suitable shoes as you might be walking up and down a lot. Also, if you managed to get to the top of the castle, you can see a beautiful view of the whole Ankara. Also you can find plenty of restaurants and a variety of shops on the way to the castle. Is a wonderful place, must go! Lovely restaurants with tasty food and reasonable prices, cool shops, people is very friendly, they still have some traditions. In the castle you can feel the past and story that has have the centuries. Views are amazing!

Its good to take a walk to the top of castle in winter. Place is not that tidy . Options for buying things from localities. Not that expensive though. People are amazing. Be prepared for buying some dry fruits outside the castle as its cheap and of quality.

Ankara Castle is a must-visit! I've been four times and adore it, especially for watching the sunset. The view is breathtaking and the historical charm is unforgettable. Just be prepared for crowds during busy times. Overall, a top spot in Ankara!

A must-visit place if you visit Ankara, truly a trip back in time, walking through its narrow streets, eating in its typical restaurants, and enjoying an incredible and unique experience make it a magical place. (It is a historical fortification in the city of Ankara, Turkey, built in the 7th century or later. The first fortification of the site was built in the 8th century BC by the Phrygians and rebuilt in 278 BC by the Galatians. The castle was rebuilt or renovated under the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman empires) I really recommend you to go there.

Beautiful place and scenery. The castle is situated in a small village with shops and eateries. They have a tourist information in the grounds and the lady was very helpful and informative. Well worth a visit and there is no charge to enter.

Beautiful place to visit, I’d say this is the best place I had been to so far in the entire city, the views are spectacular not only that the people are more friendly over there, I had great coffee made on coal I recommend everybody to visit if they get a chance to. The entrance is also free so don’t pay if someone asks you to.

A little refurbished castle with good views. Not a special one, but worth that little climb to get up there.

Ulus is typically known to be a more dangerous area of Ankara so definitely be aware of your surroundings. I was approached by a few children begging for money near the hacibayram mosque and when I gave a few lyras, a whole swarm of children surrounded me and kept following me to give them more money. At one point, I had to speeded up my walk as they tugged my shirt and bag. So definitely be careful in the area. Ankara isn’t used to tourists so there will be a few curious faces when they see a foreigner and some will even offer you food out of kindness, just politely decline as much as possible because you never know the intentions of people and they might’ve poisoned it. Other than that, the area was beautiful to see because of the Rocky Mountains and the Ankara castle from afar (you can walk to that too!)

Historical mosque from the 15th century. It has been built right next to the ruins of the Temple of Augustus which is also an interesting place to visit. The mosque has a simple interior design. Nothing glamorous but quite peaceful and serene inside. Good place for meditation and prayers.

Came to visit this mosque and spend the day out with the family on this Sunday. The kids enjoyed the day and had a lot of fun. We were able to pray and get something to eat. All in all it was quality time and spiritual experience. We were able to come by car and it has free of charge underground parking.

An area of great interest. The ancient Roman temple anointing this mosque is outstanding in its history and importance. The mosque itself is rather lovely too. The area surrounding this piece of history is beautiful and rich in restaurants and shops with souvenirs and religious artifacts.

Haci Bayram Mosque is the most spiritual place in Ankara. The mosque and the neighbourhood are beautiful inside and outside, day and night. It is very historical. The propery is very clear. Thanks to the restoration it has a fresh look and live all the time. In summer times, you can listen to music next to small pools... Ablution facilities are also very good. Just it can be better using paper towel.

The Turkish mosques are some of my favourite places in every city. They are calm, peaceful and quiet. Kocatepe mosque is the same. The mosque is a stones throw from the food street. We said the maghrib prayer here and heard the azaan and lights turn on I’d say that’s the best time to arrive there. When the heat of the day is winding down and sun is setting. There weren’t many people though. We sat outside on the bench for a while and the people going around. Some stayed there and smoked a cigarette. Some families were just hanging out there. Kids playing. It was really peaceful.

Visiting Kocatepe Mosque at night was a truly awe-inspiring experience. Despite the darkness, the mosque radiated a majestic beauty that was impossible to ignore. The intricately designed architecture illuminated by soft, ambient lighting created a mesmerizing sight.

The idea of building the Kocatepe Mosque dates back to the 1940s. On December 8, 1944, Ahmet Hamdi Akseki, the vice-president of Turkish Religious Affairs, along with seventy-two founding members, established a society known as the "Society to Build a Mosque in Yenişehir, Ankara." In 1947 this society called for projects to be drawn up by architects, but none of the submitted projects were accepted. In 1956, through the efforts of the late Adnan Menderes, Prime Minister of the time, land was allocated for the project to build a mosque in Ankara, and a request for projects was made once again in 1957. This time thirty-six projects were evaluated, with the joint project of Vedat Dalokay and Nejat Tekelioğlu being chosen as the one to be implemented

The Best Imam I've ever met in Ankara. The first time come to Ramazan pray in this centre of Ankara Mosque was very excited. The monumental architecture is wonderful inside or outside. After met some imam in small Mosque and then come here, you will met the Best Of The Best in this Kocatepe Mosque. The Imam selection for this Mosque is wonderful. It made me lovely to pray all night long this weekend. The security are also in a good manner to bring the safe place to pray. Honestly all the masjid in Türkiye are just mind blowing to me since this trip was the first time I’ve been in this country and I wasn’t raised around such grand masjid (I come from Hong Kong). It surprised me so much that to a lot of the locals here, such grand architecture and art in the masjid are so normalised to them since they’re seeing it everyday. One of the best parks in Eryaman locality of Ankara. The park has small lake with boating as well. There are number of restaurants around the lake but never tried it. Furthermore, there are number of sports fields( football, tennis, basketball) . There are also play area for kids. It also has hit for dinning but beware making barbecue is forbidden.

Probably one of my favorite places in Turkey. I lovely artificial lake with plenty of facilities to enjoy a nice lazy stroll or meal. Plenty of cafes and shops nearby, there's even a faux lighthouse and paddling boats. Public transport is good with buses stopping next to the park as well as a short 10 minute walk from the nearest metro

Very nice place to chill with family or friends. It has many cafes around it as well as a plaza next to it that has many restaurants and cafes in it as well. There is a mini amusement park (opens only in summer) and some boats to go in the pond.

One of the best Parks in Ankara, for family or friends gatherings and BBQ parties, several parking areas for cars, Kids areas for 5TL each. Good restaurants and cafee shops plus weddings spots. The WC places are away for saving the view. You shall find spots for fishing in the lake. The park is very wide and can accommodate many families without feeling crowded even during vacations and holidays

Large spacious with natural lake in middle. Plenty of playground and sport field. Cafe and food stall also have more varieties. Perfect place for picnic and just enjoy the weekend with family. Lot of seating area and dine in spot. Toilet bit far away from the game center.

It was a beautiful trip. The children and I had a lot of fun. We ate breakfast and my children ate the kofta. We took pictures of many places. Attending weddings was a beautiful addition that gave spirit to the place. The presence of animals was a very beautiful addition, especially the horses and geese. Thank you to all the polite workers.

I have never known such a concept village to be in Ankara. While you are walking, cows are passing and seeing them and more. That's outstanding experience you could have in city. I strongly recommend you to go with guest who come from out of ankara. You can get local flavors with good services.

Great place to visit. Very calm and moody place. Better to visit during spring as everything shall be lush green and fresh. I visited during winter but still the landscape was awesome there. There’s a hanging bridge which is closed for tourists, I guess for maintenance reasons but if it is open it would be of great interest for the visitors. It is merely a walking distance from the bus station and the neighboring community also blends seamlessly into this landscape. The ticket price is 5 Turkish Lira for adults.

Open air, portrayal of village antiques and culture. Take a bus from Ulus, go there. 9 TL entry price. Pass a day or a half in natural serenity. Have food around, buy a stone stove baked bread for home.

Amazing natural and cultural experience.. the kids loved it.. I only took one star away because the bridge was closed and we wished to try walking on it.. hope they will open it soon..

This is a wonderful place to see great nature, to enjoy a peaceful moment, to see animals (chicken, geese, sheep, goats, deer etc), and buildings - all of which resemble a village of the past. It is a popular place for models and brides to be photographed. There r restaurants at regular intervals so u can refresh yourself. This is a place to come to for the whole afternoon. I love the water- and windmill, the kid's parks, and a long swinging bridge. (Unfortunately, it was closed due to repair when we were there.) The only issue is the menus. Every restaurant sells literally the same unhealthy food. Most are sweets and processed snacks and gözleme, which is OK, but there's little filling and lots of dough. No side dish, salad or fruit available. The selection of drinks is also incredibly weak. No plant-based mylk or vegean snacks.

Really nicely kept outdoor museum of traditional village life. Lots of walking up and down hills but in the pleasant shade of weeping willow trees and the stream running amongst them, it was very enjoyable. Lots of play areas for kids makes it a very family friendly atmosphere. The suspension bridge was closed so we didn't get a chance to go on it, but looks like it would amazing to walk across.

It's a beautiful place, you can see animals, enjoy your time walking through beautiful nature and even you can eat traditional food and sandwiches. You can even ride a horse if you want. It's a good place to take pictures too📸

One of the best places I've seen in Ankara but it was Saturday and we couldn't have fun because it was too crowded. My advice to you is that do NOT go at weekends because it's too crowded. There're some small markets and restaurants but they're a bit expensive also there're some small souvenirs' shops. Good place to make a photo session. You have to buy a ticket to enter the museum, 2tl for students and 7tl for others, if you're a student, you need to show your student card. Also to enter the bridge you have to pay 1tl for students and 2tl for others. There're a mosque,a playground for children and clean WCs.

Taking photos is prohibited 🚫 You need to pay 20tl per person to enter And some artworks doesn't have anything special

The art was great. It takes a lot of time if you want to go through most of the paintings. Also paintings have explanation cards to use on your visit here. No enterance fee if you are 18 or younger. No discount for students..

I liked the museum. Lots of interesting and memorable pictures. The cost is 70 lira per visitor. But the museum itself is not big, all the halls were passed in about an hour. I would also like to note the beauty of the building itself.

I loved this museum. I had no expectations but the art shown was very well arranged. Definitely a must while being in Ankara.

I really didn't like this museum. There were a few pieces of art that looked nice however most of the paintings were not that great. Of course art is subjective however I don't think it's worth the time.. Some pieces felt like very amateurish and felt like they just put those to keep the space filled.

Loved the different rocks. The dinosaur fossils were huge. Unfortunately I couldn't see the fishies. You can find some of the best photos I took there down below.

Very old building with beautiful paintings inside stretching from the Ottoman Empire to modern Turkey. The paintings are well preserved and well displayed. The galleries are spacious and calm. The sculptures are also breathtaking but few. Staff are also very nice. Highly recommend while in the Ulus area.

Definitely worth visiting, you can see the timeline of Turkish art. The historical building has great architecture, with elements of Western and Early Turkish Republic architecture.
