To cut to the chase- it's a 500 year old theatre with REAL SCULPTURES and an architectural portico for a scene! Although myself I felt that the amount of architectural glamour seems almost kitschy, you cannot deny the scale and grandeur of the design. We visited with a year old baby. We left the pram at the reception desk, the staff was friendly for us to leave it there. There was a light show included in the price which wasn't great if you ask me, a bit over the top-new-years-eve type of thing, but it's a matter of opinion I guess. Overall, really worth visiting!

Absolutely beautiful and amazing. I would say it is a must see. I think this is one of the most amazing things I have seen in Italy. I hope to be blown away as we visit farther south but am comfortable with my statement. Entry is 11 per person. Kids to a certain age are free but it would be best to go with older kids. We took our 2yo and it was tough. Pictures simply don't do it justice. Go see it!

Teatro Olympico Vicenza..The oldest stage set in the world. Built in 1580 /85 by Palladio the Renaissance architect,completed after his death. The set was never dismantled . Entry through a pleasant garden which has a cafe/ bar. A. Long gallery depicting characters and quotes from plays. Enjoyed it. Vicenza was a pleasant surprise less expensive and less frenetic than many Italian tourist spots.

This amazing theater has to be seen to be believed. It was designed by Andrea Palladio (1508-1580) and completed three years after his death in 1583. It was the first indoor theater to revive the antique tradition of providing a permanent stage and seating. The theater was commissioned by the Olympic Academy, a group of Vicentine nobles and intellectuals, founded in 1556. Palladio and his son Silla were members.

Tickets for all city museums are sold here. Not at those museums. Go to those museums and you won’t be able to enter without first making your way to the Basilica to buy your ticket. It’s ridiculous. And there are no convenient taxi stands in the centre. Nor is there a tourist information kiosk at the train station. Vicenza is truly the capital of stupid.

The Palladian Basilica is a very important piece in the history of the western world. It was actually named a basilica by Andrea Palladio, the designer of its arched porches, to honor the roman empire basilicas, where people would gather to trade goods and hold meetings. Apart from being an architectural masterpiece, the basilica has a lot of very pleasant cafes and restaurants, both at the ground floor, and at the top terrace, and it is also visitable in the second part of the day (except the great hall at the piano nobile). The great hall at the first floor is like a big wooden ark/ship turned on its head. One of the most magnificently grandiose interior spaces in the history of the western world.

Nice, but not a must-see. Watch out for the baby changing table in the ladies toilet, it springs back straight into your face, my wife almost lost her tooth while trying to open it! Staff was really helpful though, running downstairs for an ice pack. We visited on a week day, so there was no access to the topmost floor. We've only were allowed into the main floor, which is one massive room with quite an impressive open vault ceiling. The terrace offers nice views to the central city square. While I wouldn't pay the full price for visiting this place on its own, it's worth to drop by if you got the Vicenza Card combined ticket.

Honestly, the basilica was disappointing for me. I expected a large and beautiful building, and instead I just got a weird exhibition space that could easily be mistaken for anything else. Plus, the orientation around the building was super confusing - definitely a few pointers would come in handy. Symbol of Vicenza and a massive building dominating the central square. The actual shops facing the square were kind of dead when we visited, though the back side had several bars spilling out into the streets during the evenings. Entry to the upper floor loggia is included in the museum/vicenza card. Roof access was not possible in October 2023 - I believe the roof and cafe are only open in the summer. Stop by in the evenings to see it lit up from within.

Piazza dei signori is main high street in Vicenza. It’s a biggest open square in the town that is next to Basilica Palladio di Vicenza. This square is free for everyone. Yep! Definitely worth visiting, as you can see there’s also a beautiful market on Sundays. This one was mostly flower and other vegetables. Everything lovely and enjoyable. Plaza has a festive vibe this time of year. Christmas lights everywhere making the night time light up with a cheerful atmosphere! There's also a Christmas market too. However , it's not as big as the one in Verona. They currently have the classics like mulled wine and pretzels. Definitely check this out if you're looking for something to do in the evening and don't want to drive too far. There are several parking lots, but you may need to wait as they tend to fill quickly for the dinner rush.

Villa Rotonda is the Renaissance country house architect Andrea Palladia from 1569 in Vicenze area. Villa Rotonda was the first, of many who followed, a country house with a dome. Especially during paladiatanism in the architecture of the 18th century in England and America.

My sister and her friend visited here last weekend. On their website, ticket was written as 10€ (not tour one) and without reservation on the weekends. At the door, they claimed first it was closed for public that day. But after we said it was written open on their website, they sold the ticket for 15€… The villa was magnificent though!

Andrea Palladio's most famous Venetian villa did not disappoint. Built as a country residence for Paolo Almerico, a papal prelate, it was inhabited by 1569. La Rotonda is Palladio's only freestanding centralized pavilion. The dome was modeled on the Pantheon with the oculus being initially open. Still owned by the same family, the villa is in an amazing condition and is situated beautifully among the fields on the outskirts of Vicenza.

This is one of the most important buildings in the world. It is the masterpiece of renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, a villa like a temple, and a temple like a villa with great halls amd rooms and a panoramic projection of each of ita spaces towards the surrounding landscape. Probably the most impressive interior space is the central domed hall and its frescoes. Even though one might find it annoying that you are nor allowed to take photos inside, it actually comes as a good thing, making you aware in a very direct way of every aspect of the beauty and magnificence of La Rotonda.

Parking hint: drive past the entrance, continue about 1km and parallel park on the street, it’s free but don’t block any driveways. Check out the picture. At the very top of the monte you’ll find this unique cathedral. Sometimes depending on when you visit there may be queues. But the wait it’s definitely worth it. It goes fast and once inside you’ll find a unique church and Madonna which you’ll never forget. Nearby there’s also nice restaurants.

An elaborate church with the statue of the madonna a centre piece. The statue situated behind the alter has a beautiful crown and necklace. We visited yesterday. We purchased our tickets from a very nice man and headed over to the villa to start exploring. The lady at the villa desk asked us something in Italian which we did not understand. I asked her in Italian to repeat it. I still couldn't get it so I pulled out my phone to bring up conversation in Google translate. She said forget it I will speak English. Asked us where we were from We said we live in Vicenza. She sarcastically said you girls live in Italy and don't speak Italian. I told her in Italian we spoke a little but were still studying. She was very RUDE to us and should not be working with the public. The lady in the bookshop was nice and the man in the first building went out of his way to be sure we did not miss any rooms. The villa itself is beautiful but we definitely had a less than pleasant experience due to the rudeness of someone who should not have been working in tourism.

Villa Valmarana ai Nani is lesser known than ita close neighbor, the Villa Rotonda. However, the villa is very beautiful, with very picturesque gardens. What I found to be more impressive, in terms of interior spaces, is the secondary house for guests with the inter-connected rooms and the views towards the valley. The staff is super nice and friendly, and the place also has a bar/terraces with snacks and drink, a very important aspect considering the fact that the place ia quite remote.

If you are interested in seeing the inside of a Veneto villa this is a good choice. Nicely restored and not crowded. Quick tip, walk over or bus to villa Rontonda for a couple of photos and walk 5 mins up to Valmarana to explore the grounds, if your budget is open visit both.

Walk here from the center of town on a sunny morning and you can pretend this is your own weekend getaway. The people working here are delightful. Ask them questions. Take your time. If you've read Virgil and Homer and Ariosto, you're in for a treat. If not, maybe you'll learn something. Loved the quotes from Goethe and Camus, and especially the Queen Mother's autograph in the visitors' book! This villa is what civilization is all about.

Palazzo Chiericati is probably in the top 3 main attractions in Vicenza (alongside the Teatro Olimpico and the Basilica Palladiana), and for good reasons. The peculiar outer appearance with the deep logias makes for one of the most interesting urban artefacts in the city while, at the interior, the palazzo houses a marvelous collection of art in permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Santa Corona is a must-see destination for those visiting Vicenza. A beautiful Gothic church from the 13th century. There's an altarpiece added later and depicting the Baptism of Christ. It was created by the famous Giovanni Bellini and that took him two years to accomplish. There are lots of other frescos worth seeing created by famous Italian artists. One particularly fascinating aspect of Santa Corona is the reliquary containing fragments of the True Cross, which is said to have been discovered by St. Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine, during her pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The reliquary is made of silver and gold and is decorated with intricate patterns and images of saints.

Another "must see" here in Vicenza. The church contains the Valmarana chapel (circa 1576), whose design is attributed to the Renaissance Architect Andrea Palladio. Palladio himself was initially buried in this church. Construction on the church was begun in 1261 to house a thorn from the supposed relic of the crown (corona) of thorns forced on Jesus during his his passion.

One of the most beautiful and important church in Vicenza from XIII (used to be dominican convent) with great pieces of art ex. Bellini's Baptise of Christ. Since the church is a state property there is NO FREE ENTRANCE!!! The famous reliquary of the Holy Thorne you may find in Diocese Museum of Vicenza. Both places you can visit with BIGLIETTO UNICO for 15€ that gives you 7 day access to many other museums in Vicenza and Teatro Olimpico. Ticket office is at the entrance to Teatro Olimpico.

Wonderful park with live free roaming animals such as ducks, chickens, rabbits and a moat that surrounds the main monument that has turtels and not so favorable muskrats. Very well kept. Has security staff that patrol the park. A very large park for walking, running, picnics, and family outing near the center of the city for those who want to breath fresh air, catch some sun rays and feel fresh grass beneath your feet.

Wonderful park, lots of space for picnic and relaxing, shady benches and wide lawns. Beautiful canals cross the park with different animals living and moving nearby (tortoises, swans, ducks, herons). The museum is very well organized in what is probably one of the most complex urban interventions by Andrea Palladio (the palazzo integrated parts of existing medieval buildings). The models are amazing, and the itinerary is well thought of as to be appealing both to architects and non-architects. The interior courtyard is also astonishing in its scale and details. The staff is very reaponsive and friendly/helpful, and the bookshop has a lot of architecturally specialized books on Palladio's work (something missing from other museuma that happen inside of Palladio's masterpieces.

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Annunciata or Duomo di Vicenza is located in the homonymous square and is an imposing example of the Venetian Gothic style . At the top are the statues of the Madonna and Child and some local patron saints. It was built in the second half of the thirteenth century, on the site of a pre-existing early Christian basilica of the fifth century (conspicuous remains are preserved under the current floor), it underwent modifications in the fifteenth century, to then retain its shape up to the present day.

The medieval cathedral of Vicenzs is a really nice historical monument. Its pink/white stone patterned facade is astonishing and it is a good example of how dissociated the facades of churches were from the corpus of the church in the middle ages and later on... usually, it was a different project completely. The late gothic/proto-renaidsance facade and the serene interior are very appealing, and very evocative of the vicenza architectural tradition, or "style".

Small, peaceful, and cozy park. It belonged to a nobleman who donated the park to the city and the local government made it a public place. I can see that a lot of people enjoy their weekend here and relax. It has plenty of benches so you can seat comfortably anywhere. In the small pond, you can see ducks roam easily but you can't feed them, especially when the police is watching you almost everytime. Nevertheless, the ducks are cute. You can also see the ducklings!

Staying in Vincenza and have not visiting in Jewelry Museum is a big mistake. This is cameral place but all done with detailing so important when we talking about jewelry presentation. Fantastic experience. Especially I recommend to visit it during VicenzaOro trade fairs as a complement stay in this city (extra discount for VincenzaOro participants). Very beautiful museum! They have things from all over. While some of the jewelry can definitely be worn, much of it is either too extravagant or not designed to be worn. It's without a doubt a must see for people who love jewelry. If you prefer paintings and sculptures then you'll be disappointed. They may have a few, but they're small in number. They don't really speak any English either so keep that in mind when you go.
