Nice to visit and see a little bit of history. The museum inside was small, but nice to escape the wind. The outside of the castle is beautiful. If you have some time to kill, going inside is nice but isn’t necessary.

Kaunas Castle is a calling card of the city) This castle is even older, but only a fourth of the original building remains. It was destroyed and rebuilt many times. After the Battle of Grunwald, Kaunas Castle lost its strategic military importance and was used as a residence. Today the Castle is a must-see attraction for everyone who visit Kaunas. It looks well-kept but there's no interesting exhibitions inside. But still you can took a photo in front of the castle or have a nice walk in a picturesque place.

A nice tour in the castle, nothing extraordinary. The Castle is big, but the exhibition tour is relatively small. Recommend for a quick visit.

The castle and the museum is so small and do not worth the price of the ticket. If you want to watch the view from the top of the castle you can definitely go up the stairs in front of the castle, you would have a better horizon than going into the viewing platform.

I saw in Winter when it was cold and everywhere were surrounded in snow. But yet there was a man sleeping inside the castle, have no idea how could he get in, and non-stop snoring loud like a mountain troll... Great memories.

Nice walk to the Kaunas castle even if it was snowing. There isn't much to be seen apart from what is on the photos. I didn't went inside cos there were some soldiers practicing around the castle.

The gentleman at the tickets stand was great owtner for conversation about history of the places. The visit is cheap and the castle is very representative for local rulers.

It is a lovely castle by the river. The murals around are so beautiful and worthy of admiration. You can enjoy walking through the park nearby along the river.

Really worth a visit. It is full of very interesting artefacts that are well displayed in their relevant settings. Superbly displayed and cared for, with detailed explanations of their functionality. Whole rooms are re created, you are transported back in time. Fun for adults and kids,it gave a good insight into Lithuanias glorious past.

Remains of a medieval castle, not much left but fixed up nicely. When we were there, there was two men dressed up as knights demonstrating how knights fought, very cool!

Lots to explore in this area. You can start with a trail to the view point of Kaunas then go through the castles whilst enjoying a variety of bars and restaurants, all walking distances from each other

You must see this castle when you visit Kaunas. It’s really beautiful especially during sunset. You can walk along the river and it’s refreshing. :)

Smaller Castle with great surroundings. Only went to the outside of the castle and not the actual inside with museum. But I would still recommend just to see the outside and the surrounding park. Since you have the Santakos park just right by and also the old city in close proximity. You have very good views if you climb the castle stairs since you can go up there separately from the inside portion that's paid (3€ normal ticket and 1,5€ reduced) If you're traveling by car you also have big paid parking very close.

A nice historical monument that is in excellent condition. The whole area looks very good, also maintained thanks to small automatic lawn mowers. It looks very futuristic when they have a whole "army" of them. There is a nice view from the castle, there is also a park, amphitheater, restaurant and river banks.

Yes, the museum is small. Yes, only a small part of the castle remains and yes, it is mostly rebuild as only a tiny part is original. But still, you cannot overpass this site without giving a look when you are in the Old City of Kaunas. Besides the nice view, it gives an idea how the place was during the medieval era.

Absolutely loved this place. This place is full of historical landmarks. The castle is situated on the coast of the river. The information about the castle may be seen in front of the castle. There are statues and playgrounds around the place. Definitely worth seeing.

A great street, a wonderful boulevard full of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and local businesses. It has its own style, exceptional atmosphere, clear layout and good connections to other streets. This street is truly an example of urban planning with its landmarks and sectors. In addition, it is directly connected to the historic center of the city.

The time you spend in Kaunas half of it will be spent walking on Laisves al. Have a cup of joe in one of the many coffee shops. Have lunch or dinner in one of the restaurants along the avenue (restaurant Mtevani is the best). Buy some clothes or souvenirs in the boutiques.

Main street of Kaunas, clean, not crowded with a lot of small shops.There is an installation that helps you refresh on hot days.

I had the most wonderful time at Laisvės alėja in Kaunas (also known as Freedom Avenue)! Visiting on a beautifully sunny day added to the already charming atmosphere of this place. Compared to my previous day in Vilnius, the people here seemed more relaxed, making the experience even more enjoyable. The avenue is simply mesmerizing, with its diverse array of shops, cafes, and restaurants, all complemented by the carefully maintained and lovingly cared-for trees. The straight line of trees stretching endlessly along the road creates a truly spectacular view that beckons you to explore the entire 1.7 km alley. The setting felt romantic and laid-back, with benches nestled under the trees where civilised people sat, chatting, and appreciating the breathtaking view on that beautiful day. I was left in awe by the incredible ambiance. I highly recommend this place to everyone, regardless of age, preferences, or mood. Walking along Laisvės alėja will undoubtedly lift your spirits and leave you with a profound sense of relaxation, happiness, and peace. It's a must-visit spot for anyone exploring Kaunas!

Great value for money - tickets are 6 euro and you get full history of the forts, the tragedy's that happened there etc. Tip: do not spend all your time on the first exhibitions because there's tons to see! Also go to the roof, it's worth the view. Toilets on site but bring your own drink since there's nothing to be obtained on site.

Stunning and very moving tribute to the 50,000 Jewish men, women and children murdered by the Nazis in 1941. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful but, in contrast, the 31 metre high monument is imposing and disturbing. As it should be.

This place is full of history. Reminded me of our visit to Auschwitz. The museum is very informative and worth a visit. Inexpensive too. The monument is amazing to see. Highly recommend. We got a Bolt here.

The 2h guided tour is really great. Apart from learning a lot of details from the guides, you are also accessing internal parts of the fortification which are not accessible with the general ticket. The fortress itself is separated to two big sectors. The first smaller one, is related to the history of the fortress as it planned to be used. The second is related to the history of transforming the fortress to prison and all the related atrocities that happen during this period. For sure it worth visiting this place, but plan to spend a lot hours in this place. There was no kind of food sold here so you have to be full before arriving or you will starve.

The fort has been restored to some extent and tells the story of it's occupational history by both the aggressors in the world war and the red army during the invasion of Lithuania.The memorabilia is preserved of whatever remains were recovered after it's dark days in history...There is also a sculpture made of exposed concrete, very expressive and thought provoking..Visit there with about three hours at least to absorb the place, walk through the greens to reach the fort since one building is under renovation currently..Entry to the fort is charged at 6€ per adult,the sculpture and the grounds are free

Well worth the visit. Prison section of the museum is very interesting, the pre-war section not so much (not much to see, just reading a load of text on the walls). The organisation of the museum in general and English descriptions could do with some work, but overall a worthwhile experience.

Memorial fort dated beginning of 20th century with mass execution museum. Good to visit with the whole family as education. Affordable ticket prices. Personell is willing to help. Outside landscape good for walking in good wearher. Main museim is on reconstruction now.

A very interesting and challenging museum. It traces the development of forts from the crusades to the 2nd world war. Some exhibits were quite disturbing!

Took a field trip here with a group of friends. We were satisfied with the experience overall. It's something different to see. The admissions were about five Euros. The museum is broken up into three floors, with an adjacent art gallery. I was expecting historical demonic pieces from ancient civilizations or medieval Europe. The exhibits are mainly creations from different artists, with each piece being significant to its place of origin (different countries have different views on what the devil looks like). The exhibits aren't purely all demonic looking, you get plenty of ghouls and witches and stuff like that. But, it wasn't disappointing or anything, we still enjoyed it! The third/top floor is where you get more pieces from different countries. I didn't feel creeped out at all, I usually find stuff like this kind of cool. It's something different to experience if you're in Kaunas. The tickets aren't expensive, so if you have time to kill, I recommend checking this place out! I bought a little souvenir from the gift shop. I keep it in my china with the rest of my collectibles (see last picture).

Definity not bad collection of Devil's figures, mini-sculptures, mask, etc. The number – over 3000 – is impressing. But the presentation quite dull. Most of exponats deserve better lighting, beter background colours, better ventilation in premises. Also, those glass display cases making photografies mor difficult and less interesting (because of reflections). The best room of museum is on the last floor, where international deamons are collected. In summary, the Soviet spirit of the building made more fear then collection itself

A very unique museum! Where else have you seen a collection of devils 😈 ? Both adults and kids enjoy it. Set your expectations right though - it is not too big and definitely could be prepared better. However, there are some interesting stories to learn. Download the app “Velnių Muziejus” there is a free audio guide that tells you the stories while you meet devils eye to eye! The second part of the museum is home 🏡 and the studio of the author and painter Žmuidzinavičius. Great example of a rich family home of the interwar period.

Interesting place, though not exactly what I was expecting. It’s more of an exhibition of the collector and their personal collection than one focused on devil lore, but still interesting and worth a trip. The museum also includes exhibits of the collector’s work space, home, paintings, and personal history. Seemed to be a very intelligent and quirky fellow.

An interesting collection of devils, but my favorite part was the artist’s studio. I also loved the Lithuanian stories about devils that accompanied the exhibition.

Promoted as the only devil museum in the world and can clearly see why!! 3 entire floors of never ending text, It's like a real life journey through hell. Every display case is an attempt to put you to sleep, assuming this is to allow the devil to infiltrate your subconscious. Strongly recommend, not for the faith hearted.

Good collection of pieces of art from all over the world. Kids below 10 were quite interested. I wouldn't say the museum is too spooky for kids; a few of the many exhibits might be a little creepy but generally it was totally fine even for a 3 year old.

For some reason I was expecting there to be more history on the different interpretations of the devil through time and in different countries. Really all it was is someone's private (and not very diverse) collection of figurines and statues, etc. I am glad I went but also was very relieved it's only 5€ after seeing the exhibition. You also get to see the art gallery that is in the same building which was alright

Simply stunning and unique There are three floors of unique stories, combines with a collection of devil effigies, this is one of the few museums that I dare say is in a class of it's own The first floor represents the artist and the collection he gathered over time, along side a separate section of the museum that is dedicated to his work and goes into further detail about him The second floor was about the people of Lithuania donating their crafts to the museum with a sprinkling of stories around witches, humans and animal interactions with the devil The third floor contains lore about the devil from different countries and the differences between one countrie's depiction of the devil and another

Huge mall opposite the Zalgirio arena. It hosts various shops, cafes and restaurants. It has a cinema and a casino. It's ideal for shopping or to spend some time in a rainy day. There are a few small photographic exhibitions spread across, which you can explore during your visit.

Had been wondering where all the locals were- found them in this Enormous shopping centre- very modern, with similar shops/ prices across Europe. Food court was vast. A number of activity centres for children / teens.

A beautiful Shopping Mall. A feast for the Eyes. Top Brand and Retailers galore from Bershka, Zara , Zara Home, Douglas; bags, shoes, underwear and Maxima a grocery store . Great food court with tons of options, from Sushi to even a London grill.

Big and beautiful! You can buy almost everything you need. You can eat in so many restaurants or bars. It's amazing and full of people. So many free parkings. It's perfect also for family with kids as you can find many enjoy games. And it's in the city!

It is a very big shopping mall. It also has a lot of stores like hesburger, reserved, zara, burger king and there is also a cinema called forum cinema it is on the top floor you can access the cinema directly using the parking lot. Inside the parking lot there are lights above every single parking space indicating what spots are taken and which are not. There are also a McDonald's nearby.

Big mall and fine if you want to shop what you find in every other big city, at the same prices, in the same stores… but really nothing special.

A bit difficult to find places especially on the map because there are many floors. There is a parking lot as well. It has several entrance doors on several floors

Really nice place to visit, especially before Christmas to get into Christmas spirit. Get ready to walk a lot and keep warm. There are two places to get a hot drink, some chips and other warm snacks. Well looked after toilet facility. "Menulio takais" has lots of lights which were located all over the place. Although, the lights were a bit too static in most places, I missed more movement, maybe some more lasers shows, but overall experience was great, well recommended.

We visited this place in a group of students. #ESNLSMU. The best place I've ever visited in my life. It was so pure and earthy. There wasn't snow, instead it was sunny day. We visited this place to celebrate Užgavėnės (welcoming spring season). As you can se ein pictures, it's afolk tradition, wherein they say goodbye to winter and welcome the spring. Hoping that the flowers will bloom again 🌹🌞🌻. Lithuanian people are very happy during this time. Many visitors visit this place. The moment you enter this museum, it's a huge jungle. Go wherever you wanna go. Explore everything. NOTE- entrance is strictly under surveillance. (During our time, police officers were there at the entry points). Don't forget to try their "marinated broccoli and broccoli water". It's their fav. Also don't forget to try pancakes. They're very tasty.

Very large territory, allow the whole day. Great place to learn about the old Lithuanian ways of living, architecture and interior of the old villages. Lots of different things to see, a couple of small shops, a nice little coffee shop in the ‘town’ part of the museum.

This is a really good open air museum, you will be on a Journey through different time period of lithuania, while surounded by open nature. You are free to roam around the park/museum at your own pace and enjoy the beautiful building from different eras of history. all the historical gardens are kept nicely maintained, and if you visit during the day you can take a tea/snacks in the local shops there. This museum if very dog friendly with lots of space for the dogs to feel free and take a break from the city. Price wise its very cheap for the amount of things to see, we paid 2.6 euro per person, a 2€ fixed price for parking plus 0.5€ for 1h of parking. parking is free from 21h (9pm) but close to visitors at 22h (10pm) We visited at 19:00 (7pm) and the park was basically empty, this is why I would say it's an awesome place to take your dog, they will be able to rund free in the big fields since there's nothing else but open fields, be sure to keep the leash on or available at all time. The museum also ofers sleeping areas that are available through booking.com, we didn't book it because of some change in planing, but from what we saw the sleeping areas (visitors can be outside all day) seem very nice, the exception is that you dont have private bathrooms nor a kitchen, wifi is also not available. overall it was a very nice Museum, and I would call it a park.

Big are filled with rural buildings. Hint to visit that place is riding with bicycles or buy car ticket (30€) and drive throug. There are rural building complexes from different regions: Dzukija, Suvalkija, Zemaitija, Anykšciai and one town center. Dwelling-houses, stables, granaries etc. Windmills also. Good museum. Local museum workers help and explains when you have a questions.

It is a beautiful huge park and you definitely need a whole day to see the whole area but it is a really nice showcase of the buildings during previous times. The buildings were beautifully maintained and my favourite part was the gentleman doing the scarfs, aprons etc live in one of the buildings. I would recommend to bring your own food as we had the bad luck of being there when the cafe was closed. There are plenty of picnic area. I would recommend a bit more of interaction between the people sitting there instead of them (most of them but not all) just being on their phone and appearing unfriendly and unapproachable.

Amazing place to visit. If you are interested to travel back in time, then you must visit this museum. Good weather recommended for the best experience. Prepare to spend here about 4 hours at least. You can take some food and drinks with you and make a really great picnic here. This museum represents 4 main regions of Lithuania: Zemaitija, Aukstatija, Suvalkija, Dzukija. You'll see interior and exterior of houses which is common to each region. You'll see in this museum how rich people lived, how poor people lived, which tools they were using for work and household. Lots of interesting stuff. So if you tired of the city and would like to spend a day in the countryside this is a place to go. The ticket price is 8 EUR.

We visited it in winter when light festival takes place in evening. Really nice experience. Area perfectly suits for this light festival. We also visited it in summer. It is unique experience. Different regions historical rural buildings are present. It is nice that it is possible to enter inside and explore interior.

This was wonderful, so beautiful. The house are really cute and very well kept. 4 eur entrance fee. Plan at least 2 hours for the visit and bring some food to make a picnic :) the area is huge so be prepared to do some walking, we walked approx 6km. They were no shops (maybe april is off season?), so bring water. Good parking (2 eur).

The museum deserves maybe 3 hours as the surface is huge. A lot of paths to take, nature, lake and of course the traditional buildings. Ticket is expensive. Great place!

A must visit museum when visiting Lithuania if interested in its history and 19th century lifestyle and regional characteristics. This open air museum has 7km lenght route, you can get in by foot, by car for extra charge or it’s a nice cycling route if the weather is good.

Not much too look at from the outside. But step inside and it's an OMG moment. The sculptures and ceiling are well worth a visit alone. The alter is well.........go look for yourself.

Kaunas cathedral's interior is incredible.. ⬇️ This is the largest Gothic church in Lithuania, built in the 17th century standing till this date. I love this picture, especially because all the sculptures are giving a strong character to this picture + the sunlight is complimenting all the highlight points in the sculptures. There is just so much detail in it. 👌 Also, I was happen to be there at the right time: it wasn't very crowded. However, if I paint the scenario in my head, I would really love if there is a person in a brownish/orangish coat standing and observing the beauty under the sun rays in this picture. 🤔 It is considered an important church(I am guessing): Since it is a "Basilica," which means it has been designated by the pope because it carries special spiritual, historical, and/or architectural significance. Once, a church has been considered as "Basilica," it can't lose its status. The pictures don't really do justice to the feelings attached with being in some place in person, its true for this place as well. When one whispers, the walls talks back, like if it has a soul

We are blessed to be able to attend the Sunday mass in the cathedral. It is a beautiful church with so much history in it. Admiring the paintings of the blessed Mother of God, St. Joseph with child Jesus and other saints for Catholics like my husband and I was a privileged.

This cathedral is big and color full. The are many sculptures and the variety of colours give a particular tone to the ceiling. It’s really beautiful and it’s totally worthy to be seen.

The most wonderful and the biggest cathedral of Kaunas) It is located not far from the Rathaus in the Old Town. Construction of the cathedral began in 1413 and finished in 1655. It was made a minor basilica in 1921. Despite the restrained facade, the interior of the building is striking in its magnificence. You will be impressed with the fabulous interior decoration. There are beautiful icons and unique paintings on the church's walls. Well-kept area and renovated building. Must visit 💯

The Cathedral Basilica of Peter and Paul is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Kaunas, Lithuania. The stately red brick building prominently set in the heart of Old Kaunas holds an absolutely amazing interior. The first hint of things to come is found in the intricate carvings on the entrance doors. Inside, the soaring ceiling coupled with the vast number of white marble statues and gold ornate fixtures is literally breath-taking. I was totally surprised and humbled to visit such a beautiful space.

From the outside it does not look great, possible because of the red bricks which are used in many gothic style buildings in Kaunas and the humble design. The internal decoration is a completely other story. The frescoes in the walls, the paints are brilliant and the altar astonishing. When you look inside you completely understand why this building is a cathedral.

We attended the mass on Sunday and we’re disgusted when one of the priests threw an elderly woman who was asking for money (which everyone else refused) out into the cold raining night. So very “Christian” of them.

Beautiful, well maintained brick cathedral, being 84 m long, 28 m height and 34 m wide, is the largest Gothic church in Lithuania. The Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, built in 1895, is an independent extension of the southern nave with carved wood furnishings in the neo-gothic style. It is a huge building that brings peace in the middle of the city.

One of the most interesting museums in Lithuania, it is a must-visit during your stay in Kaunas. The main exposition is related to the life and work of the most famous Lithuanian painter, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. It looks absolutely splendid, with beautiful and slightly mysterious paintings and a music hall where visitors can listen to Čiurlionis' musical compositions. One of the most interesting museums in Lithuania) You must visit it when you're in Kaunas. It is a good example of an art gallery where you enjoy Lithuanian art from the Middle Ages till the 21st century. The main exhibition is connected with the life and creativity of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. It looks absolutely great - wonderful and a bit mysterious paintings, contemporary installations, and a music hall where you can listen to Čiurlionis' musical composition. I highly recommend exploring an exhibition devoted to the history of money in the interwar Lithuanian Republic (1918-1940). These banknotes are more like a piece of art! The national museum boasts some original fabulous art deco masterpieces. There is an exhibition hall of Lithuanian traditional applied and decorative art. You can see not only some folk costumes and handicrafts but also it is possible to watch documentaries from ethnographic expeditions and listen to folk music (audio recordings from different parts of Lithuania) and video guides on wearing traditional headdresses and accessories. The museum is worth visiting 💯

Main exhibition consists of M.K. Čiurlionis paintings. You can also get a chance to see other paintings of various lithuanian artists depending on the ongoing exhibition theme. One of the paintings from the exhibition "Green"

The exhibition and the building are beautiful and worth a visit. Material on all exhibition is translated to English so you can easily understand what is going on. The extensive exhibition of Ciurlionis works is fascinating, especially if you spend some time to listen to his music.

Great place for education. Beautiful art. One of the greatest Lithuanian artists ever. Beautiful music and paintings. Educated, well prepared, helpful and friendly staff. There is a place for children to play and educate themselves. Not only toys but lithuanian educational toys as well. Clean, looked after environment. A lot of signs to know where You are ant where to go next. VR 'Path of Angels' is an amazing experience. Happy to see art from the past to combine with technologies from today and create unique art experience. I personally recomend to experience 'Path of Angels' firs before continuing to paintings and music. Then You can discover visuals from VR in real paintings. Overall amazing experience. Everyone should visit this museum at least once in a lifetime, but I recomend more often.

Liked this galley. Some of Lithuanias main painters from 1900 to 1930s. Separate exhibition space for leading painter and composer Ciurlionis with a music room to listen to his symphony. I listened to a piece The Forest and the Sea: wonderful. You are only allowed to a few photos here. Cafe on ground floor. Helpful staff.

This is one of the most interesting art museums I was in. I'm not a big fan of art and museums, but this was actually a nice museum. There mostly was art paintings, but there was other things, like a café, music chamber, and etc.

This museum, which is the Japanese consulate of Lithuania, has a lot of information about Jewish refugees at the time of the mentioned dates. How Jewish refugees suffered, how they got to Japan, and the historical development of this process are clearly revealed. I recommend everyone who comes to Kaunas to visit this museum.

Small museum in a house with beautiful 1930's architecture. Exhibition focuses on heroic Japanese and Dutch diplomats who saved thousands of Jews' lives during WW2. Exhibition's 20-minute video was excellent.

Before I start looking for places to visit during my stay in Kaunas, I have never heard anything about the story of this place. But now I am really happy that I learnt so many things about the actions of these two brilliant diplomats. I really recommend every tourist/traveller to visit this place. It is like visiting a history museum of Lithuania during ww2. You will need around 1 hour or more to watch the introductory video and tour yourself around. The 5 euro entry fee is small (you can donate more, if you like) from my point of view. Bonus: It is open on Mondays, when almost every other museum is closed.

Was incredible to come to visit the house and office of a giant of a man who was responsible for saving the lives of so many during the Holocaust in 1940. I was personally connected to this story, with my grandparents being saved by Mr Sugihara. Thank you for the beautiful memorial in this museum!

An must visit for every person who has an intrest in the second world war and the holocaust. The museum recunts the story of the japanese diplomat Yoshiara who saved during the holacaust by issuing transit visas. The museum tells his story and recrated his working room with pictures. The only drawback is the while the efforts of individual lituinian that were granted the state of Rigutuous of the nation are extremely commented, norhing is said about the colaboration of the lituinian authorities with the Nazis in the Jewish extermination between 1941 and 1944.

I just found the museum in the list of museums in Kaunas and it is available to visit on Mondays. Wonderful staff, taking time for a visitor with less history knowledge and educating with philosophicall thoughts. Even very quiet member of staff - a dog, unusual element of museum for a moment. It was very interesting to get to know diplomats' language and that historical time documentation. Knowing history directly from documents, organisacional life desicions of the country with more authentically restored interior in original museum building. Stronger bonds of friendship with Japan through its devoted, brave person to humanity, who tried to get to know our country. Big human with big heart in complicated time.

Went to the event hosted by the museum where we made a Kadomatsu and fruit sandwiches. Even though the event might have been more targeted at kids I still had a lot of fun as an adult. Event organizers were especially helpful. And I would also go to such similar events. Highly recommend.

Beautiful and impressive church sat in the middle of a very walkable downtown area. The church itself was open with a beautiful domes ceiling.

While it’s great for taking lovely photos and adding to the face of Kaunas, it’s quite disappointing that no upkeep was done since forever and the peeling paint is frankly just embarrassing knowing how many people visit/see it every day, whether locals or tourists…

Extremely aesthetically pleasing church. Both inside and outside as I read it's recently been renovated. The church sits atop of the main street leading to the town hall and castle so if you're ever in Kaunas you should be in the vicinity. Would full advise giving this place a visit 👀

The church looks very nice from far away down the avenue. Getting closer you will see that it is not kept in its best form, plaster is coming off at various places. But the square is nice. There is a walking tour from here every Saturday and Sunday at 12:00h.

The church is opened again. There are still works ongoing in the outside and only one entrance can be used but you can enter. Internally there is a series of paints of Jesus sacrifice, as part of an exhibition. Both inside and outside is beautiful. The refurbishment of the building, fully revealed how magnificent this building is.

For everyone, we need to pay .50euro every 15mins for parking and walk a bit. But if you’re a church person, you get away with parking right next to the door of the church and pay nothing.

Extremely impressive space, open and airy, full of light with modern stained glass and very impressive large brass light fittings sculpted to look like an array of trumpets (the clarion blast?). The parish priest (I think; the one who appears to have some cerebral palsy) cuts a powerful figure with deeply spiritual speech.

A large church located at the periphery of Kaunas. When the church is open, you can explore the grounds, go into a crypt, go into the chapel, and see the museum. The only inaccessible portion when I visited was the monastery, as I believe it is still actively used.

Booked a tour and learned about the history of the church and all of the work put in to make this masterpiece. A beautiful work of art.

A stunning interior, but get a guide to understand it all in context. Interesting little museum too, very well kept with excellent English translation. Clean toilets, but check the turnstile before paying for them - the cash box was broken when I visited!

Very beautiful place but I wish it would be allowed to visit more places in the monastery. It is only allowed to visit the church and a mini museum. 6€ for it is to much.

Thanks to the less number of people, the original church atmosphere which has to be magnificent and rigorous could be fully enjoyed. The paintings in the main dome were depicted by Italian artists and they seem to be painted in a humble way.

Monastery with beautiful surroundings. Monastery, that is very beautiful and quite big area wise. Entry is 6€ regular or 3€ discounted and completely free for disabled people. The areas that you can go visit in the actual monastery are very limited and could also be more visible. Since you only have some guidance where you can go. Entry to the monastery was also a bit of a hassle to find since it doesn't look like an entrance to guests at first glance. But the places that are available are very interesting, especially the church itself and the inside. Just be aware that holy mass is conducted regularly in the church so that you are respectful of that. Location wise, the monastery lies in a very natural environment with a big park around it and also a lake close by. Free parking is also available right by the monastery that has plenty of spaces. They even have a hotel that has part of the buildings in the monastery.

Ridiculous, don’t trust their website. Went on the saturday at easter, website and google said it was open. Went all the way from Kaunas old town just to see it and then it’s closed with a little note on the door!!!!! Tried calling and also calling the bell on the door, nothing happened. I am so disappointed, DONT TRUST THEIR WEBSITE!!! Will never go again, saw a lot of other people walking their too both tourist and lithuanians and they were super pissed over it too. IT IS NOT OKAY.

Very nice monastery run by nuns. A visual museum explaining the history of the area and the site. History of the restoration of the frescos. A hotel had since taken the front part of the site, with possible weddings in the summer!

One of the interesting places that a lot of tourists visit. It is located on the hill so you can see it from many places in the city. Apart from seeing the exterior and interior you can get on the roof (for a fee) and look at the city panorama sprawling around you. There is an elevator as well as stairs to the top.

Sunning visual landmark on top of a hill. Fairly modern in design and minimalistic inside. You can go onto the roof to get views over the city. You have to pay for this; at the time of our visit, it cost 2.5 euros to take the lift or 1.5 euros to take the stairs. My partner said she had done enough walking and threatened me with death if we did not take the lift. The views were stunning from the top viewing platform. I'm not great with heights, but I was OK with this even though my legs wobbled a bit.

Roof access is 1.50 euro via stairs and 2 euro via lift. The panoramic view on the roof is breathtaking. And the amazing thing is that ghost-like building on the right hand side will be teared down and lofts will be built over next year, so it won't ruin the view. There are also wooden foldable chairs, so I assume mass takes place on the roof terrace on special occasions. Church is very protestant-like inside, although it is catholic.

What an amazing place! The staff are very kind and the interior is a bit basic, but they let you go up to the terrace for around 2 eur to get a beautiful view of the city.

Something that you've never seen) The most unusual Catholic church in Lithuania! A very high ceiling, massive columns and very modest interior decoration. The church looks restrained. It has nice stained glass windows and modern religious paintings. The most important thing is that there are a lot of free space and fresh air. My recommendation!

Super view to the city. You can reach the top by elevator or by foot. Climbing by stairs takes about 170 steps. Affordable ticket prices. There is payble binocular on a top. Be prepared for wind. Entrance to the church is free. One of MUST SEE in Kaunas.

How do you even rate a place like this? It's definitely worth seeing but I'm mixed as to the reasons why. The building is to my tastes absolutely hideous. If Stalin had ever built a Church it would have something similar. People state the view from the tower is great, I was so struck by the monstrous outlook I forgot to go! The interior is pointlessly austere, close to no decorations apart from a few icons...

€5 entry what a place. So incredibly interesting could spend all day in it. Well curated well maintained clean and such a great place. Modern and historical exhibits and some very poignant pieces. There were a number of school children visiting when i was there and i cannot stress how very well behaved and respectful they were.

We found this an interesting insight into Lithuanian military history. Plenty of exhibits, many are unique. Well worth a visit when in Kaunas.

The exhibition is great, really loved the battle dioramas with the commentary. And the current exhibition about the Baltic horse burials was incredibly interesting. Will definitely visit again.

You must visit this museum 💯 when you're in Lithuania) It is a trip not only to a pretty rich military history, but also to the formation of Statehood and ages of independence struggle of Lithuanian people. The current expositions amaze visitors not only with unique installations, but also with the grand scale of the museum. There are a real airplane inside, huge guns and sculptures of knights in armor and helmet. You can find a lot of interesting and a quite strange exhibits. I definitely recommend this museum. It would be interesting to visit both kids and adults.

Overview of Lithuanian war history. Museum exhibition covers history from ancient till modern time. There are a lot of different technique, weapons, installations, models and clothes. Some activities and workshop for children. Affordable ticket prices even for whole family.

Absolutely loved it. Such a warm welcome by staff lady, she was so good, played games with our kids, told us some history. Never seen this like this at museum when was a kid. It was good to go back, well worth the visit. Museum is well looked after. Big selection of guns and other stuff. My kids loved it so much.

A beautiful "soviet" building boasting a wonderful courtyard filled with statues and cannons from Lithuanias historical past. The museum itself spans across a few years in no chronological order but is informative in both Lithuanian and English. It has some wonderful artwork, armour and weaponry as well as a few vehicle's. Very cheap costing only €2 for an adult but much cheaper for children and senior citizens. Fairly short experience but worth an hour or two of your time. Perfect for a rainy day.

Lithuanian world war one and historical museum. Fantastic exhibits of weapons and uniforms from the middle ages to present day. A massive collection of firearms and even a Harley Davidson!

The museum is very nice. The general ticket costs 2.5 euro and there is a very kind gentleman who explains to you some of the rooms. The views from the top of the tower are amazing.

Great museum, it's not special though, but worth to visit. There's museum inside, also you can get up to the tower and see all Kaunas (from the window) or go downstairs to the cellar. As it's the place where people get married it's always joyful to see smiling people and a happy bride.

A very pleasant experience, especially considering the price of a ticket (4€ for a family). Friendly house guides were all over the building and keen to show us everything from the famous balconies to the prison cell in the basement.

Short visit. The most interesting part is in the basement. Nice artefacts from archeological sites in the area.

Interesting story’s about the city. Very nice stuff and on the top of the tower you have a really nice view around the city. The cellar of the museum has a great view in the very old past if the city. In my opinion it’s a must seen when you are in Kaunas.

Algis and Yolanata were v helpful in our tour. We visited the museum with my family and was surprised to see the history and how far medicine has come through.! Very well presented pictures and descriptions on the history and also surprised to see that couple of equipments work till date

Very nice museum, they have a large collection of items related to medicine and pharmacy. The guide was very passionate and happy to give us information.

This little museum is very interesting. It's set up like an old pharmacy, with the customer facing shop, the area where medications were made, as well as medical instruments and chairs. Though honestly, the old time fire extinguisher might have been my favorite.

We visited this museeum because of the rain and, really, we are very happy of it ! This museum is very interesting and will pleased even the children. The guide was welcoming and adorable. Go for it.

A small but interesting museum showcasing the history of medicine in the region

For me as a pharmacy student was this place really beatufil! Exhibition looks nice and guide was amazing, she kows everything! We saw also medicine department of the museum with many gadgets. I recommed this place everyone, also not-pharmacy people.

The most interesting museum I have ever been to. Just after coming in authentic building and friendly personnel meets you. Lots of exhibits dating from 1000 years old till ones of 20th century. The cost is also ridiculously low. Just 1€ for students and 2€ for adults. During the visit I was constantly narrated about history of medice and pharmycy which was much more interesting, than just reading information tables. Also even thought I am not pharmasist or doctor the museum managed to really engage me with lots of bizarre facts and stories. Truly big thanks for the dedicated staff. I recommend to visit this museum for anyone who is in Kaunas. Undoubtedly one of a kind.

Very interesting museum and guided tour. Museum is part of the Kaunas University of Medicine and holds large collection of medical instruments, tools, and displays. You can see also working pharmaceutical machinery and learn how the old time pills and medicines were made. In another room you can find pharmacist shop and dentist’s studio. Suosittelen kovasti kaikille joita vähänkin kiinnostaa lääketiede. Hyvin opastettu pieni museo.

It's intresting place to visit as an adult and for the family with kids. It has gathered old time tools and machine used in medicine and pharmacy from all over Lithuania. It's intresting for everyone not only doctors or pharmacist.

A bit mystical building in Kaunas) You're strolling through the Old Town and suddenly notice this house. It amazes with a strange gothic architecture and its rich history. This building was built as merchant's office. Then it eas sold to Jesuits and was used as a chapel and school. You can get inside now and take a look at this building but it could be closed temporarily. Anyway, it's a must-see attraction in Kaunas)

Unfortunately the visit to the house is possible only with appointment during summer. The external design is really interesting as it is has a lot of details which differentiate it from other gothic buildings with red bricks in Kaunas.

Magnificent building. It is a must see during visit in Kaunas. Just take few steps from central market and you travel in time to medieval times. Whole facade is very astonishing with it's intricate decorations. Maybe the surroundings isn't medieval at all, the house defends itself.
