Yesterday, my partner and I visited Majeka House Spa for a couple's treatment. Unfortunately, there were a series of disappointments during our visit.
To begin with, I didn't receive a booking confirmation when I initially made the reservation. Concerned about the status of our booking, I called the day before our appointment to confirm. It was during this call that I was finally sent an SMS confirming our reservation.
When I inquired about using the spa facilities during this phone call, including the hot tub, sauna, and more, before our dinner reservation, I was shocked to learn that these amenities were out of order. Additionally, the pool wasn't at an ideal temperature. The main reason for booking the treatment and dinner, and even taking leave from work, was to indulge in the hot tub for a special birthday celebration. It was frustrating to discover this only when I called to inquire, rather than being informed during the reservation process. Had I known earlier, I would have considered booking elsewhere.
While the treatments themselves were enjoyable, the cleanliness of the bathroom and cloakroom left much to be desired, with urine splatted on the seats and floor, which was rather unpleasant.
After our treatments, we decided to wait for our dinner reservation in the bar/library lounge. While the cozy fire was a nice touch, there was a distinct lack of ambiance or background music. Our request for some background music was disregarded, with a rather feeble excuse related to a potential Wi-Fi issue. To fill the silence, I had to resort to playing music from my phone, which was far from the experience we had hoped for.
Regrettably, the overall experience left us with a bitter taste in our mouths, prompting us to cancel our dinner reservation and seek an alternative venue for our celebration. We have a genuine fondness for Majeka House and believe it has tremendous potential. However, it's evident that standards are slipping. In the hospitality industry, effective communication and exemplary customer service are paramount, and our recent visit fell short of our previous expectations. At this point, we are not inclined to return anytime soon.
