I wish I could rate each of our experiences differently, but overall, I guess a 3 is reasonable. We arrived at Margaritaville this past April of spring break with a group of 28 people. Kids, teens, and adults. We were in a family suite with an oceanfront view. We were pleasantly surprised with our room and thought it was very clean. We did not have enough towels right off the bat, however, they were very quick to bring us new ones as well as a blanket and sheets for the pullout sofa. The pullout sofa, however, was complete springs. It felt like you were laying on metal. For the balcony, there is a balcony on both sides of the room. Out the bedroom and the living room. The view of the ocean is across the street, however, the sunsets are gorgeous. Water pressure is terrible in the shower and the sink. The regular beds were both decently comfortable.
The resort itself is OK. The pool is nice, the swim up bar is convenient and the staff that worked it, worked hard and were kind. Kevin was at the pool daily and did a great job at getting people to play volleyball, water polo, etc. The food at the pool bar was probably the best we had at the resort, but the others were nothing to write home about (more on that later ). The drinks are just OK, with typical resort drinks with bottom shelf liquor. The beach is nice. They have staff that will bring out lawn chairs to the beach area if you request it.
The restaurants… First of all, I have never seen such a small buffet at a resort. There were not a lot of options. Every day, the food seemed to be a variation of the day before. The other restaurant, Option, 5 o’clock somewhere upstairs, was basically greasy bar food. We ate there twice and said never again. The Italian place, you need a reservation, but can only make it the morning of. They only reserve a few spots for all inclusive gas, so often we could not get in. We ate there one night, and it was OK. Not bad, not good, but nothing to write home about.
As for activities for the kids or adults, there really isn’t much unless you book an excursion. it is a very small resort, which is nice, but when there aren’t any other activities, it is easy for older kids to get bored fast. Our teens had nothing to do after we ate dinner at night.
The biggest issue we had was more than half of our group of 28 people got sick right before we had to leave the resort. We cannot trace it back to the food, drinks, or anything really. Nobody drank the water. Let’s just say many of us hadn’t been that sick in a long time. Major Stomach issues if you get my drift… We told the front desk what happened as we left, but they seemed unfazed.
