Gaido's in Galveston is a beloved seafood restaurant with a rich history dating back to 1911. Reviewers praise the fresh and delicious seafood dishes, particularly recommending the seafood pasta and grilled scallops. The service is highlighted as exceptional, with mentions of attentive waitstaff like Chelsea and Cliff. While some reviewers note minor issues like slow service or cleanliness concerns, overall, Gaido's stands out for its classic elegance, quality food, reasonable prices, and inviting ambiance.
We loved our experience at Gaido’s and it is now one of our favorite in Galveston.
I recommend you try the seafood pasta , that’s what my husband had and it was DELICIOUS ! So creamy. All their seafood is so fresh.
Mine was good but I wish I had chosen a seafood dish.
Now the gumbo was a different for us. First time having gumbo this thick, it was okay.
Drinks were great . Can’t wait to go back!
All the ladies in the morning breakfast are fantastic. Best breakfast I ever had at any hotel hands down much respect 🙏. Location is perfect. The night lady in lobby is super sweet and very business friendly. Ate at Nick's in parking lot. Not bad not over the top. The bartender and waiter were pleasant. I don't really care for the lay out of hotel it's a little confusing at 1st. Room was nice but not very clean 😕 sand and ashes on counter. Overall on price this is a great place to stay. Better than a resort.
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday in March! Overall the experience was wonderful and we will absolutely be back. It was uncommonly busy for the middle of the week but everyone except the host seemed to be handling it well. Our server was funny, attentive, and made delicious martinis. However, in the reservation my boyfriend noted we would be celebrating my birthday and the first question from the server was if we were there for a special occasion. I’m not sure if it was an oversight on the host or the server’s part but it did take away a bit of the magic of the night. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the food immensely! It’s absolutely worth the price. We especially like the Shrimp Cocktail (we spread the Remoulade on the bread it was so good), the American Red Snapper Michael, and the Pecan Crunch with the happy birthday message! The beach is a very special place for us and I’m happy to include Gaido’s in our celebratory traditions.
First of all, this restaurant has so many years from 1911, this is a reflection of the quality of their food. Very classic, elegant and the most important to me the freshest of the seafood. This is my second time visiting Galveston and I will keep visiting for this kind of restaurant that makes the food so delicious and makes you to come back. I just enjoyed the food but next time I will take the pictures. Also, our waitress was her name, Chelsea, she offered us a wonderful service and so nice that made us so special, we are so thankful to her. The price are reasonable for the type of food, I think is in between not expensive and not cheap. I totally recommend this place at least try once and you will come back again.
My wife and I are in Galveston for a weekend getaway and this was our first stop. We were greeted immediately and had a brief wait to be seated (I don't think it was even 15 minutes). I thought it took some time for us to be initially served but once David did serve us, he was excellent.
We started with a round of drinks at the bar and met some really cool people. The Bartender was a little abrasive but not so much that it was an issue. Once seated, we ordered the Onion Stack and dinner. The onion stack was disappointing. It wasn't well put together at all. Then we waited a long time for our entrees. It was late so the kitchen wasn't really busy but our wait was outside of 20 minutes. We both ordered the 16 oz ribeye- hers medium and mine medium well. I think mine was a little undercooked and hers a little over but the taste was spot on. The manager did offer us a complimentary dessert.
Overall, it was a pretty good experience but for the price, location, and seemingly semi-fine dining appeal, step up the service.
