The Three Crowns is a charming historic inn located in Chagford, offering comfortable rooms and delicious food. Guests praise the attentive staff, cozy atmosphere, and dog-friendly amenities. The hotel's restaurant serves fresh and tasty dishes, with highlights like plaice with seafood chowder and Eggs Royal. Some minor issues include limited on-site parking and occasional noise from deliveries. Overall, visitors appreciate the quality service, comfortable accommodations, and convenient location for exploring Dartmoor.
Wonderful staff who are very attentive and polite. We had a few minor issues upon arrival which were swiftly rectified. The room was clean, the bed very comfy which was a relief as hubby has a bad back, and even the pillows were just right. The food here is amazing. Catch of the day was plaice with a seafood chowder. I highly recommend it and their cream teas which come with 2 freshly baked scones, a generous pot of tea, clotted cream and raspberry jam. Very yummy. Breakfast here is also very good. I highly recommend the Eggs Royal or the full English. Parking is very limited so we took the superior rooms that come with their own parking place. Worth the extra pennies as the public car park is a good 5 - 10 min walk away. They are very dog friendly providing free doggy blankets and biscuits in the bar area. The only place you cannot take the dog is in the atrium dinning area, but the bar area is more cozy with open fires at either end. All in all a lovely hotel to use as a walking base for Dartmoor. We hope to return soon.
Very impressed with the quality of service. Staff are clearly trained in customer service. Room was comfortable and clean. Food price was a little higher than you may expect but given the quality I felt this was a reasonable cost. Good location and well managed. Decor of the pub is very fitting and compliments the wilds/villages of Dartmoor. I would certainly come again and recommend others to stay. As a personal note I do wish to thank Alex and Scott - their professionalism really made my stay enjoyable. Would recommend - which given some of my reviews at other places is rare. The Three Crowns is certainly worth visiting.
We loved seeing this pub again, and there was a decent crowd for a Tuesday lunchtime. My partner ordered hake with the chowder but when it arrived she wanted my monkfish curry instead. That was fine by me, I never seem to enjoy monkfish, and I thought the hake (which she hadn't so much as prodded with a fork) had a look of succulence about it. We exchanged plates and I was happy at once with the swap. The fish indeed was succulent and there was a little crispness to the skin. With some pepper the chowder was very nice. I'd have it again tomorrow if I could
Interesting place, very old and hence plenty of uneven floors and ceilings. Nothing much was level in our room and unfortunately it overlooked the front, near to the town square. Therefore we heard deliveries taking place very early in the morning and people chatting. The restaurant and bar area has been very nicely extended and is most pleasant. The service was good but the food menu was not inspiring - something and nothing really. Hotel was easy to find and offered good convenient parking for residents.
We were looking for another restaurant and ended up at this excellent restaurant. The service was excellent. The food was so fresh and tasty. Our son had the burger with chips. We had the fried squid and a feta and vegetables plate. The beer and juice was refreshing.
