Very cool and awesome place for a holiday. This is a floating iland with so mush sceneries. The lake is impressive and offers both beautiful landscape views as well as birdlife, which one has to explore by boat and foot on some of islands. Unfortunately there is a fair amount of littering around. Most picturesque place to visit. A must visit place if you are in Manipur. Preferably a stay for a couple of days to enjoy the virgin beauty of the place with be the best.

Its around 30-35km drive from main imphal city. But it's worth it. Its the largest natural freshwater lake and a famous tourist attraction. You can go to boating here though the charge is not per head basis, it will take around 600 for upto 6 people for 30 min ride. If you go there try to go to the top and have some food on the restaurant situated there, you will get the food with a great view.

It is very beautiful and clean. There are temples and some monuments inside the fort. You can also take a stroll along the beautiful gardens located inside the fort. Visit this place if you want to spend a few quite and relaxing hours with your family.

You definitely need time to visit this place. A visitors cart is also available on payment. But it's nice to walk around. After the Royal era, it was home to Assam regiment but during 2004 it was declared as a heritage place open to visitors.

One of the must visit place in Imphal, take at least 2 hours of your time to explore fully, this place closes at 5, so plan accordingly. And remember to hire a cycel at entrance so that you can explore properly. And its closed on Monday

It's a bit late review. We visited the place Kangla Fort, Imphal, Manipur in the month of December 23 with family. Entry Ticket for Non-Manipuri visitors is a bit more than local people but it is very much affordable. However when we visited there was no Q so we just got the ticket with no time. There are 2 ways to visit the whole fort - 1. You walk through the place or 2. You take a buggy which is chargeable. The benifit of taking a buggy are - 1. You get a guide who will drive the vehicle and explain you the history as you proceed. 2. The guide can speak local, Hindi and English language. 3. It becomes easier to understand each part of the fort. 4. Elderly people can not walk so much area, so buggy is the best. Beautifully kept and it's neat and clean. Water bottle, plastic packets of food etc are not allowed. The check point security will keep incase you are carrying some but while returning you can collect from them. Children and elderly people are exception to above rules i believe. Toilets are available inside the entrance however, it is paid toilet so you gotta to pay incase you use. Both male female toilets are separated and available. As it is a huge place to visit, you can keep a time of minimum 1 to maximum 3 hours to complete the whole place. There are many touch points inside the fort and full of history from the ages behind. Overall it is an amazing and must visit place at Imphal, Manipur.

This was the centrepiece of Manipur royal history until the Brits and Indians took it over. Only in 2004 it was returned to the people. I loved the large sign which states clearly for all to read: VVIP/ VIP/ Army / .......all have to pay the entrance fee. This is great. We should make it part of our culture. No freebies. The fort itself was disappointing. The palace is now a green mound, the various other buildings are under reconstruction or renovation. Field Marshal Slim’s cottage was locked. The two museums are small but good. I liked the one on the history of Kangla. The authorities now have a golf cart tour of the place so you dont have to walk. The guide / driver was excellent. I wish we could have spent more time in the museums but our guide was strict on moving on! Definitely a place to see, hopefully when the sound and light show starts and the buildings are open to the public-it will be more enjoyable.

Beautiful Place, a visit is a must to this historical Manipur monument. Althought some places within the fort are closed for repairs its worth a visit. Also the museum need much more imputs ... In all a lot more can be done by the authorities.

I was very small when I first visit this Museum at Moirang. But today after several years I visited this Museum again. It was an amazing moment, especially when we show the museum to the foreigners coming with us. No one really pay attention to the importance of Imphal Campaign during WWII for the freedom struggle of India by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose with his Indian National Army,INA (or Azad Hind Fauj) and Japanese Army. This Museum show us how hard Netaji and INA fought for India's Freedom and how bravely joined the struggle by the Manipuri people. Love this place! ❤️

INA Museum This town in Bishnupur District of Moirang has a special place in the history of India’s Freedom Struggle. It was at Moirang that the flag of the Indian National Army was first unfurled on April 14, 1944. The INA Museum which has a collection of letters, photographs, badges of ranks and other war memorabilia reminds the visitors of the noble sacrifices made by the INA soldiers under the charismatic leadership of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

This is a wonderful experience on its own. Can't describe the feeling in words. I was getting goosebumps looking at everything over there. This place is the 1st headquarters to the Indian National Army. The last pic of Netaji is also there and for sometime I couldn't take my eyes off that pic. Sharing some glimpses of the place.

Amazing experience looking at old pictures, personal effects, actual mortars and bullets used in the second world war and the history of INA, as well as Manipuri influence and contribution in the freedom struggle with the INA. The host of the museum was very knowledgeable and helpful, and a delight to talk to.

The museum is small and decently clean but few of the things should be preserved better. Some important documents are attached to the boards/canvases with cello tapes and few of them are coming undone. I saw a hand-written letter by Netaji which is barely attached to the board. Documents of such National Importance should be FRAMED and preserved better. The content of the same letter should be printed and placed next to it, for the tourists to read it better. Some of the glasses are very dirty and had stains on them. Needless to say these should be spotless for people to clearly see. Museum has great potential and all the items curated are important, but if only presented more aptly! The area outside the museum could be well kept and turned into a park for people to sit down and enjoy. There's a river which has now become a drain and smelling horrible. Someone should step up and turn this place beautiful with plants, benches, and a river with the famous manipuri water lilies!!! No pictures of the museum because photography was prohibited.

It was an amazing experience watching out the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose remainings and pictures and got to know him better.. I saw the last available picture of Netaji in the Manipur airport which is now converted to army camp which I saw it yesterday itself... Being a west bengal resident it was quite interesting to know Netaji over here his whole journey... The place is well decorated n maintained but washroom is not maintained because we travelling from distance need to use it but water leaking is everywhere over there. So it's a request to the respective owners of the museum to kindly maintain it for the tourists.

Located in cc pur district. Entry fee is Rs 10 for adults. But as other places in Manipur, u will find corruption in ticket distribution here. The man alloting the ticket will keep all the money in his pocket and will allow u to enter and won't issue u a ticket copy. The museum have good collection of war material and weapons used during the world war.

Food is really nice but the place of sitting and delay in service are some of the issues. We wanted to reserve but due to some confusion they didn't reserve and we had to wait for a table to get empty. There's always rush but the tables are few in number. But you might enjoy this environment of Iskcon.

The market comprises three different sheds where one can find various items of day to day household uses- clothes, fruits, veggies, kitchen wares, fish, and others being sold. This market is considered to be the centre of Imphal and the state itself, given the economic and trade/commerce significance.

Manipur is a woman's state and this market is symbolising that women's empowerment. I was there for a week and sharing my experience: 1) It is the largest all–women market in Asia. 2) The market opens from 6 am to 6 pm. While the fish market opens at 5 am. 3) to live a life whatever is required for a person everything is available here. 4) original name is Ima Keithel or Nupi Keithel Above of the building this name is displayed. Ima Keithel means mother's market which AKA Nupi Keithel means women's market, exclusively run by women in Imphal. 5) It is a commercial center and a popular tourist attraction in the state of Manipur. 6) It has shifted its location within the city of Imphal over the years and is currently located in Khawairaband Bazaar. 7) It was established in the 16th century and hosts around 5,000–6,000 women vendors who sell a variety of product such as vegetables, fruits, textiles, toys fish, spices and utensils are available in the market. 8) the market is located west of Kangla Fort and on the Bir Tikendrajit Road in the Thangal Bazar locality. 9) The complex consists of three large buildings with pagodas and colonnades. 10) The market is split into two sections on either side of the road. 11) Two buildings are located to the north of the main road and one to the south. The buildings are segregated into textile housing sections and household groceries sections. There is also a section of stalls under a large tin and tarp arrangement market to the east of the main buildings. 12) There is a licensing system in place for vendors with stalls. 13) The fee of a 16 square feet (1.5 m2) stall was ₹140,000 per annum at the time of construction in 2010. 14) The market houses around 5000–6000 women vendors at any given day. 15) As of 2017, the vendors at the market make an annual profit between ₹73,000 and ₹200,000. The annual turnover of the market was estimated to be between ₹40–50 Crore. History of this market: The market was established in the 16th century following the imposition of the labour system, lallup-kaba in 1533 CE. The lallup-kaba was a forced labour system in Manipur which required male members of the Meitei community to work in distant lands or to serve in the army. As a consequence of the system, women had to support their households by cultivating their fields or weaving textiles and then selling the products on improvised markets. The improvised markets led to the formation of the organized Ima Keithel. The Ima Keithel was the primary permanent market in Manipur until the 20th century. In 1891, the British colonial administration attempted to impose economic and political reform in Manipur which disrupted the functioning of the market. The reforms involved large scale seizure and export of food corps from Manipur without consideration for local requirements which caused starvation at times of Mautam. It led to agitations by the women of the Ima Keithel and in response, the British attempted to sell off the assets and properties of Ima Keithel to foreigners and external buyers. This among other causes resulted in the Nupi Lan or the women's war, which eventually seized with the Japanese invasion of India. Following independence, the market regained prominence as a commercial center and a hub of socio-political discussions. In 2010, the market was moved into the Khawairamband Bazaar complex constructed by the Municipal Corporation of Imphal. The complex had sustained damaged in the 2016 Imphal earthquake which effected the livelihood of around 800 vendors.

Ima market is the only woman market in the world located at Manipur,Imphal.From a marketplace with lantern in the 70s to building with modern amenities it is also flowing along with time.Its market so all sorts of things are available its the lifeline for the people. The only problem is the cleanliness,lots must be done already but lots more need to be done sensitisation of the market vendors need to be done to properly dispose off the waste generated and more frequent collection of waste product can be done by the relevant authority as waste product keeps on piling for days.
