Our tour stopped here. This was a very nice stop. The castle is both accessible as the contents have to be inventoried and accommodation made for visitors. However there is a nice restaurant and gift shop, some gorgeous gardens and lots of pretty sites and walking trails. I particularly enjoyed the strenuous walk up the steep hill to the beautiful viewing point.

The castle was good, but it is the beauty of the nature and walking trail that one would cherish the most. Next to a lake with clear water and mesmerising mountains, one feels amazed at the sight. The national park is a must visit for sure. The fresh air with the smell of flowers blooming. Mix it with the sounds of nature and birds chirping as you walk. Blissful indeed.

Even though the castle was closed when we visited, we still had a wonderful time walking to the castle along the lough, and strolling through the gardens and visiting the tearooms for a pot of tea. Great baked goods available too

This castle is not open in the inside to public since Covid. When is open which they told me probably it will be October 2022 it will cost 7€ the entrance. The bus to get there is 2€ per person and is a 4km ride. They run all the time & is a one way road so it can be scary to run in it since in the curves they don’t see each other. It happened to us & the drivers stopped just on time but we were all scared for one second. You can also go walking in a 4km trail where you can take bicycles & park them at the castle (outside near the cafeteria) The gardens & the lake are amazingly beautiful & well worth the drive & visit. The parking to the castle is free & there is a lot of parking and people flowing in & out so even if it says the parking is full Is not really full. In the cafeteria they sell food & snacks. There is a gift shop as well. We drove 5h round trip to get here & stop at a gas station to get food

Grounds are beautiful and so well maintained. Unfortunately we couldn't go inside the castle because we had dogs but that didn't bother us because we had food outside in the gorgeous cafe. You could spend a whole day on the grounds exploring and walking. 10/10

Great day out for the family. Picturesque walks available to and around the castle. Regular buses to the castle (€1.50pp) are available from the welcome centre. Plenty of snack options from the castle cafe and a wider range from the welcome centre restaurant.

Absolutely loved it here... my husband and I went to Letterkenny for the weekend and went out to explore the surrounding areas. Lovely walk to the castle and back... the views were nothing but outstanding... definitely worked up a thirst for some alcoholic beverages that evening... a must see if in the area.

The Glenveagh Castle gives a viewpoint into the lives of the rich. The home is decorated with the actual furniture, bedding, books, wallpaper, paintings, etc. Well worth paying for the self-guided tour (€7 - €5 for seniors). The grounds are gorgeous and free to walk about if the tour doesn't interest you. A wonderful place to visit.

Great place if you want to get out for some fresh air. Plenty of scenery, flora & fauna. There are many trails to choose from that cater for pretty much all abilities. The most popular trail runs from the main car park / information centre to Glenveagh Castle. It's roughly an 8km round trip and the trail is pretty much flat all the way, but 9f you don't fancy the hike 5here is also a regular shuttle service that runs to and from the castle. You buy the tickets in the Information Centre. Apart from the trails & scenery there is a restaurant and exhibition centre at the entrance and if you venture to the castle you can avail of a tour of the castle, cafe, gardens and a craft shop.Depending on the time of the year you can also hire bikes to cycle the trails. Entry to the park and the castle grounds is free, so a visit can be very budget friendly. I would highly recommend a visit here.

For me it’s a top 5 place to see if you go to Ireland or Northern Ireland. It has a beautiful history and the places and the castle are stunning. 3 weeks ago, in our 6 days trip around Ireland and Northern Ireland, we had to make a stop here. We were the first customers to arrive at 9 in the morning when it opened. We bought the tickets from the Visitors Center where we paid 3€ for the bus (Visitor Center - Castle and return) and 7€ for the Castle. Next to the Castle you can find a restaurant/coffee shop and toilets as well. Enjoy!

We toured the castle and enjoyed it. It was well worth the admission fee. We also ate in the restaurant and the food was very good and extremely delicious 😋 All the staff inside the castle, in the amazing gardens, the restaurant and gift shop were very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful grounds, keep up very well. We took the bus up to the castle, you can walk on the trail that follows the same way the bus drives. Bus is 3 euro round trip or 1.50 1 way. Nice parking lot and restrooms by parking, in visitor center and by the castle. My husband and I had a Mocha and latte in the visitor center, didn't care for it much. Worth a visit.

The Castle is now Self-Guided with poster cards in each of the rooms. Still a very beautiful place to visit. Most of the furniture inside is older than the castle itself. There is a tea room, coffee shop, gift shop, and interpretation centre. You can walk from the car park (about 4km) and tour the castle gardens and trails at no charge. They now allow photography and videos inside the castle! However, there is a strict no-fly zone for drones in the Glenveagh Castle Grounds and Gardens.

I enjoyed looking around this small castle although it seems more like a stately home & the views from the turret were great. I had a walk around the gardens & in the summer I think they would be great as I was there late September

We had a lovely day. Great selection of well tended animals, birds etc. Lovely lunch. Reasonable entry price. Would be lovely to see it expanding and giving the inhabitants some more room but lovely to see the work that has been done. Great sustainability info too.

Great family day out. Way bigger than i expected. Large variety of animals inc. monkeys, tropical birds, lemurs, slots, snakes, lizards etc. Great soft play and cafe too. Would definitely recommend.

A very enjoyable couple of hours spent looking at the animals. Very well thought out planning and the animals are very well looked after. Lots of interesting facts dotted about the place and people on hand to ask questions. As an added bonus lunch at the "thyme out" cafe was lovely also.

Fantastic place for kids. Perfect place for a family day. Small gift shop, cafe with hot and cold food. Wheelchair accessible. Also a nice garden shop at the entrance

Great value Zoo, animals are happy, the staff go the extra mile. I was trying to get a photo of the Sloth, so a member of staff opened the door so I could get a clear picture. Another staff member let my family hold the Snake called Max. We will come back next year, thank you.

Bigger and better, the best news is all the animals look in amazing condition and are clearly well looked after. The butterfly section is just wonderful, my daughter's favourite were the monkeys. But the huge Grey Owl is magical to see! A brilliant attraction to have in the area. The route around is carefully planned for social distancing. At time of writing you must book in advance.

Myself and family had a brilliant time at Tropical world. If your looking for a day out during the school holiday's this is deffinetley a must. So much to see and experience,my Son is 1 and a half and he loved seeing all the animals. The Butterfly garden is so wonderful to see.

There is so much to see, bugs, monkeys, lemurs, birds, and a butterfly area. It's a brilliant day out for all the family. I enjoyed it as much as the Grandchildren, we definitely will be back.

This is a great place to bring the children, with a huge variety of animals, lots of space to run and play and even to get a cup of coffee. Lots of fun to have around! The lemur would deserve the Star status. 🤣 A bit understaffed on the day, but this can happen.

Our family love it here, I’ve prob made the 1hr trip about 10 times. Loads of offer, exotics, birds, walk through butterfly enclosure.. even a play area and gift shop. Loads to see and great value! Highly recommend

Lovely place for all ages not to expensive to be in. All animals seem well looked and happy. Large car park and coffee shop. It was very popular with no seats available.

Very good wee day out most of it under a wee sheltered roof, great day out with kids I wish they took more time to look around more but they have definitely enjoyed the wee play area at the end of the park. The animals looked very well cared for and the staff are very friendly and kind. Plenty of spaces to make a picnic and have a wee sit down before exploring further

Wonderful day out for the whole family. From butterfly's to tortoise and many exotic animals it was an amazing day for me and my 3 children. We had a lovely picnic I brought with us on the benchs in the centre then the kids had fun in the soft play area.

The new addition of the gravel path and stone steps in recent times has made this so much easier to traverse than in the past. Enjoyable hike to the top , mostly mist covered and i only seen fleeting views from the summit .... but they made it worthwhile.

Great hike only takes a couple hours be prepared for the wind though its ferocious!! and boggy underfoot..

What a great experience. We started our climb early in the morning to catch sunrise at the top. Sadly, it was a very foggy day, but nevertheless, we had a great time and managed to take some brilliant photos along the way. The climb is reasonably challenging, although it was made much easier now that a path has been built leading right up to Mt. Errigal. I would highly recommend climbing Mt. Errigal.

Visited 18/03/2022. Very difficult hike! The first half of the ascent is through very wet, muddy terrain, and the second half is very steep on loose rock/stone. We had very strong winds on this day which made it even harder. Would only recommend to confident hikers. Limited parking that fills up early. There's a small inlet off the road (heading towards the lake) that you can use and walk about 10 mins up to the trailhead. Then when you get back you can grab a coffee from the little coffee truck "The Mini Bean" and enjoy the view of the lake below.

Stunning mountain! In Sept we had good weather conditions making hike easier also due to built up path up to half way. Quite steep in the middle so get good boots. Can get quite windy. Beautiful views all throughout

Moderate to hard hike, it gets pretty steep at the top. The view is unreal.

This is a stunning hike, new pathway leading to base of mountain takes the wet boot element out of it as you can now avoid the boggy bit. The steps in the rocks are amazing and a mastership in stonemasonry. This is a hike that will get you out of breath and sweaty but is suitable to most hikers if you take your time. We challenged ourselves and were up and down in 1 hr 30mins but this involved running when possible. There is a lot of loose scree therefore many use poles. Really enjoyed it, lots of little areas on the way up to have a a picnic with exceptional views.

Climbed it on a sunny day, which is rare around this neck of the wood, and the views are to die for. There is an excellent path from the carpark to the summit, steps on the steeper sections. The carpark is rather small but there is no issue with parking as the road has wide verges ideal for parking. All in all a great mountain to climb!

A great hike. The trail has been recently upgraded and easier to walk. Still need proper footwear and wind proof jackets. On the top are steep slopes both sides.

The weather wasn't sunny but I was very happy to go to the mountain. There are very nice paths and steps to the top. You need to be very careful as it is very steep in some part especailly when it is windy and drizzling. Will come back when weather is better so I can see the nice view.

For a middle aged fat man it was quite a walk to the top with a million and a half uneven stairs and some rugged terrain near the top. Totally worth the climb.

Amazing hike 🤩🤩🤩It’s a great and easy path, there’s stairs all the way up. We went for a hike with a big group, with people over 50s and a 4 year old child, everyone made it up to the top in less than 2 hours with frequent steps for water and pictures. Luckily we gos a nice sunny day and it opened up a great view from the top 😻😻😻 Would recommend to start it early enough so it doesn’t get too hot on summer days. Also it gets busy at the top and you don’t get much space. If you want to get parking, on weekend days I would suggest to start climbing not later than 8 o’clock. Also, because of the heat, there’s some sort of flies, so don’t forget to apply protection against them if you’re planning to spend some time on the top. As I mentioned before, it’s an easy hike, you don’t need special gear, you’re hiking boots should be alright. Definitely would do it again 🥾🥾🥾

It is a good hike. The trek is easy to medium and goes nicely along. If the weather is good it is most fun. I was not able to complete it due to the weather. But seems funs might return to it someday. Enough parking is available with no other facilities.

Fabulous setting! House is Quirky & it houses an Amazing art collection.. Our tour guide Kathleen was Wfl & very informative… Gardens are Amazing too Unfortunately the café wasn’t open but gallery exhibition is worth a visit too.. A really enjoyable afternoon! 🎃

Beautiful place with a gorgeous garden on the coast of Gartan lake. The house has a magnificent terrace where you can have your cup of tea (currently closed due to Covid restrictions). The gallery is a wee but modern one, on 2 floors and polite staff. Definitely worth to visit and spend good few hours there!

Lovely place to visit, it is a veritable treasure trove of paintings and other pieces of artistic value, even the wallpaper is a work of art. The tea rooms are very nice too and really reasonably priced. A stroll through the gardens down to the lake is recommended too. Perfect day out.

Beautiful gardens with a good path to follow - love the little robots to find as the paths meander - not been in the Gallery as yet, but intend to after renovations are completed and the tea rooms are open at easter (2024)

Well worth the visit we had a very interesting tour of this house,loved every room, Kathleen our guide told some Lovely stories about Derek Hill an artist who once this lovely property . The grounds are worth a visit, as is the lake and the art gallery. We had lovely soup and sandwiches in the cafe and there was pavlova cake and cheesecake. A was delicious. Very friendly ladies in the cafe. Spotlessly clean toilets,a credit to all who work there. Really worth the trip.

Fascinating history of one artist's collection of art, and relationships with other artists. Our guide Kevin has an encyclopedic knowledge of every piece of art in the house and some funny stories as well. The setting and gardens are also beautiful .

I absolutely adore this place, in my opinion is one of Donegal's best kept secrets. Features original Picasso and Renoir for example. The history and stories are incredible - perfect for the lover of all things artistic. The house and gardens are a lovely kaleidoscope

Absolutely fascinating place. A hidden gem in Donegal. Mary our tour guide was exceptional and gave us loads of information and was extremely knowledgeable about the history of this amazing place. Such beautiful rooms and almost looks as if Derek Hill still lives there. Well worth a visit. Garden are beautiful too.

A delightful tour round Derek Hill's home. It is full of beautiful objects and paintings. The excellent tour guide tells the story of the house and it's many visitors with warmth, also very knowledgeable about everything on display. The garden is beautiful. Nice cafe.

It's a fantastic place to visit. We went with our 3 children, watched a short video, had a very interesting time in the museum room and then enjoyed to see the wheels and the mils. I definitely recommend it for everyone who likes to see and learn new things. It is free of charge and the car park is large. There are public toilets.

So we were not going to stop here because it just didn't sound THAT interesting. I mean, really... A corn mill? But we had some time to kill, we were literally going to drive right past it, and it was free so, sure, why not? This turned out to be one of our best "off the beaten path" attractions we've seen! We've been impressed by the quality of OPW guides and videos throughout Ireland and this sight was no exception. As others have said, Gavin, our guide, was great. You got to see the corn mill machinery running as well as the water wheel. Then Gavin showed us the flax mill that produced the raw materials for linen cloth. By the way, for any other Americans out there, "Corn" actually means "Grains", and the main grain they milled were oats. We ended up spending almost 2 hours and it was well worth the time. Thanks OPW for restoring these kinds of historical sights and operating such a high quality visitor experience!

Really great outside aesthetically. Enjoyed the video and exhibits. Would have liked to have seen inside the mill but it was closed off and we seemed to have missed the tour guide and the girls at the counter weren't very clear.

Found this a fascinating stop. It's free! And I learned a lot about linen production which was very interesting. You will get a free (probably private) tour of the mill by one of the friendly staff. There is also a short introductory video and small museum.

Excellent, we arrived for a nosey at the visitors centre and lovely girl asked if we wanted to join the tour (free). Why not we where there! Anyway went on the tour with a very good tour man (sorry I missed your name). It's was very interesting and learnt alot. We were taken through all the mill floors and told of the workings and history to everything. Well worth the trip if your about that area!

Lived in Donegal for 10 years now and never knew the place existed. Went on a tour which was free and our tour guide was a young man who knew so much about the mill and the history and answered all our questions. It was very interesting and I would highly recommend a visit. It was run by the OPW (office of public works) and they advised us on other places to visit. A great afternoon out.

We visited 17 years ago and absolutely loved this site and wanted to go back, but unfortunately, it was temporarily closed. Looking forward to it being opening for other travelers. Great history on the processing of flax to linen. Part of the Irish Hertige pass. A great value.

Great place, badly signposted even for someone who lives locally. Tony was class as a guide, full of info and very friendly. OPW need to do better faster to open cafe and other buildings. Oh by the way at moment it free.

This is a small, well run visitors centre and working mill with exhibition. The staff were friendly and privide free guided tours of the centre and Mill. We were here for about an hour in total. There is some outside walking and stairs that would make wheelchair access difficult. Interesting place and fab staff.

A very beautiful Christmas visit on December 26th .they do a nice life size crib inside. Marble carvings at the altar looked really good, one can walk behind the main altar and see a second altar dedicated to St Mary.

What can I say but this is Ireland's most beautiful cathedral and well worth of a visit. Then take a stroll around the Bishop's Palace, up to St. Eunan's College, down to Sentry Hill and thence down to the Market Square of Letterkenny for shopping and refreshments.

Steps to enter and doors are manual. There were a few parking spaces outside but there is a car park across the road. I don’t normally attend church but I do enjoy strolling around and looking at the architecture and the windows and this is a beautiful, peaceful place.

Alot if good memories here growing up. Such wonderful architecture and workmanship. A beautiful area to pray and great mass experience.

A few days holiday in letterkenny and wherever l go l love to find the Church and lit a candle with a prayer. Church buildings can be so interesting in architecture and history. St. Eunan's is lovely.
