Such a great place I went on a van tour. You can drive yourself and even walk through. If you drive through there are plenty of turnouts to pull over into and park so you can walk around to see the animals in that area. The animals look well cared for in the sanctuary. I saw so many beautiful animals it was lightly raining and was in the afternoon so some animals were under the cover of the open sheds. But just to see them at all is so wonderful. The restrooms were clean, the gift shop staff was super helpful. They had food options outside. I wish I had a little longer to look around but being on a tour you have only so long to look around. I will definitely go back on my next trip to Anchorage.

We enjoyed our visit to the farm. You can walk around if you have the time and the weather is nice (probably my preference), but you can drive around to the different pens to view the animals. It was great to see some animals you may not get the chance to see in the wild. The porcupine was super cute. They have a gift store and you can buy coffee and hot chocolates and small food items. It was a lot of fun and great for kids. Highly recommend.

My husband and I visited the conservatory as part of a tour during a visit to Alaska for our honeymoon, and I wish we had more time to spend there. It is such a lovely place. The animals have plenty of room to roam and seem content. We saw a bear trudge over to the pond and lay back, paws in the air, just chillin in the water. Besides the animals, this is a great place to take some landscape photos. It is surrounded by mountains. There are musk ox, bison, wolves, caribou, deer, eagles, bear, and moose. They also have a really nice gift shop. I didn't buy anything, but I wanted to!

We had the opportunity to visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center during our trip to Alaska, and it was truly a remarkable experience. We have always loved observing wildlife animals as it allows us to witness the beauty of nature firsthand, seeing these living creatures in their natural habitat. Each species possesses its own unique charm and beauty. When we encounter animals, it made us wonder how nature has crafted such magnificent creatures. At the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, we had the chance to see a diverse range of animals that are native to the state of Alaska. The center conducts research and employs sustainable practices to care for these animals, while also providing an opportunity for visitors to appreciate their beauty and learn about coexisting with them, thus aiding in their conservation efforts to prevent extinction. If you find yourself in Alaska, we highly recommend visiting this place. You'll undoubtedly develop a deep affection for these animals, just as we did.

Can't say enough great things about this place except for WOW. Set amongst the beautiful mountains and valleys, this is a must do experience if you're looking to see wildlife near Anchorage. I took a tour from Anchorage and was amazed from the minute we got here. Seeing these animals enjoy themselves in their natural habitat was so memorable and enjoyable. If you're interested in going, I do recommend going with a tour group, or making sure that you download maps to be viewed offline as there's little GPS in the area. Personally, I enjoyed not having cellular service during my time here but just a tip to others considering coming here. Definitely allocate enough time here, while our tour drove through, I would recommend walking to each and spending more time enjoying the beautiful outdoors and beautiful wildlife.

A very good place to watch Alaska wildlife in case you are in hurry or have missed it in the wild. The center is spread out and huge with local Alaksan wildlife kept in big lots. The animals ans birds are looked after really well and and the habitat is done in a way to reflect the wild. Highly recommended. There are educational centers and a gift shop

The open atmosphere provides a pleasant walk amongst the fenced animals. You can also remain in your car and drive around if you desire. You are able to get very close when the animals allow it. The large animals appear to have large spaces to graze.

We loved visiting this place. Having an experience with the Alaska Wildlife with a natural habitat and the beautiful scenery all around was really wonderful. My 4 year old had a great time watching the animals that close.

A great place to see the wildlife up close. It's very peaceful to watch the bears playing and there was a lot of space to enjoy viewing the animals. You can drive around the loop and get out here and there is walk the entire loop. We opted for walking because the potholes were pretty bad and we preferred to get out and enjoy the sunshine! The gift shop was nice and had a good assortment of Arts and crafts, jewelry, etc...

This place was so cool!! You can drive around to each animals area/natural habitat. There's fences to protect the animals from people, but you can see straight through. It was amazing, their sense of humor is great, as noted by the social distancing signs. The facilities were clean and all animals looked super healthy! Gift shop was unique and featured local artists.

Absolutely an amazing spot to see a lot of Alaskan species. Wood Bison, Moose, Elk, Caribou, Lynx, Porcupine, Grizzly Beat, Wolves, and Black Bears are all here and are treated well. We went here on a tour and loved it so much that we went back after a few days to make some donations and to see some more of the animals. They have a very nice gift shop as well. Some of the handcrafted knives were incredible!

My time at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center was pure magic, man! It's all about love and positive vibes, connecting with nature and cool creatures. The center's dedication to conservation warmed my heart, creating a peaceful haven for these beautiful beings. From majestic bears to playful otters, soaring eagles to graceful moose, each creature radiated its own energy. It deepened my appreciation for the interconnectedness of all life. Awesome trip. Highly recommend if traveling towards Whittier from Anchorage. Cool to see the big animals up close and personal, I’m glad they have the drive through option as we were traveling with a family member with mobility issues. Even she had the best time seeing all the animals!

Absolutely a must! I have been waiting since I moved here to check this place out! All the animals were out. Even the highly anticipated brown bear! The most breath taking views. Very nice that there is a drive option but it’s not too big to walk even with 5 kids! Weren’t bored for a single second! Definitely come!

Must stop for animal lovers! Beautiful drive here from Anchorage, great and helpful staff, cute gift shop, and beautiful scenery while seeing some amazing animals. They're so close to you, it's incredible to see. There's not a ton of different animals like a zoo, but if you love animals, respect nature, and appreciate all of the work that goes into caring for animals like these then you'll love this place! My friend and I went around twice, you can drive or walk, we drove because it was very cold. So glad we went around twice because then we got to see the bears being fed!

Obsessed with this place! One of my favorite experiences on my winter trip to Alaska. There were a handful of animals we didn't see, but it was absolutely still worth it. Make sure you visit the porcupines at the end of the loop! They're the cutest!!!

Very nice conservation center with spacious enclosures for the animals. We truly enjoyed our time there. You have the opportunity to ride or drive to see the animals. We drove through first and then walked. Spent over 3 hours here and could have stayed longer but had to start our drive to Homer. We were there at the right time to hear a concert of howling by the wolves. We loved seeing that all the animals were well cared for. Staff were helpful and informative.

Super cool experience, you have the option to either drive or walk. The moose exhibit was one of my favorites because they love attention and people so they usually come to say hi. I really expected more from the fox, wolves and bear exhibit however was not able to see them as they were sleeping. Maybe better to go during summer time so the animals are not hiding trying to stay warm? Not sure. Very muddy and gross to walk, lots of puddles, we ended up driving.

Nice area, really appreciated the fact that you can drive as well as walk around. The wolves are huge I thought I was in the Game of Thrones. The pictures don't do the animals justice you just need to see them for yourselves.

Definitely come see these beauties of nature. Some come right up to the fences and to be that close to these creatures is amazing. Staff were the friendliest and so kind. The ability to either drive through the facility or walk it is a nice option. We walked the whole facility and just the surrounding views were spectacular!!

I recently visited the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, and it was an absolutely breathtaking experience! From the majestic moose to the captivating wolves and awe-inspiring bears, every moment felt like a journey into the heart of Alaska's wilderness. The highlight was definitely spotting a bald eagle resting on a tree above the wolves. The center's dedication to wildlife preservation is commendable, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a truly immersive encounter with Alaska's natural wonders. Five stars without a doubt! (Only slight sadness for the moose in the small fenced-in area)

This is a super neat place, less than an hour from Anchorage. If you want to see some wild animals up close, this is a great place to do it. There is a beautiful backdrop with the mountains too.

There is a good variety of local wildlife represented. You can walk or drive the trail around the area. The summer tourist season will be busier. There is a playground area behind the gift shop. And there are benches and tables at the bear boardwalk. One thing you want to be aware of is the roads will test your vehicle's shocks.

The Alyeska Aerial Tram takes you up a small mountain that has hiking and biking trails in the summer and is otherwise a ski resort in the winter. The tram itself is very nice and the trip both up and down were smooth. Realize that it is fairly tight quarters for about 5-10 minutes. Great views from the tram and OK views at the top during summer. We were up on a fairly cloudy day so couldn't see much for part of our visit. With so many amazing places to visit this was good, but not great.

Near perfect experience. If you never rode a tram. This was quick. Everything was easy, and there was no wait. At the top of the Tramway, there is a small deli and bar with surprisingly decent food. I was told we were going to the restaurant, but I was not open. The weather was not bad at all as we were in the skiing offseason, but its Alaska, it was definitely a little chilly. Can't wait to come back!

Very nice tram. Views were great, not a long wait and pleasant ride up. If you are just visiting, there is a little hike up to a better view point, and they do have a souvenir shop up top.

This was cool to be in snow during the summer with beautiful views! Kids had fun exploring of the mountain and building a snowman. There is a restaurant deli at the top and a little museum. The hotel at the bottom has fine dining to pick from I would just check the hours for the day that you’re coming if you wanted to eat there. Once you get to this area there is a local shuttle that works off tips to drive you anywhere and drop you off and pick you back up around the entire town.

Beautiful views from the top of the tram, although you do have to pay to ride on it. At the top, there is a bar to get drinks, a cafe which closes at 4:30, a gift shop, and the Seven Glaciers fine dining restaurant, which you need a reservation for. If you don’t want to take the tram, there is a strenuous yet doable hike to the top.

Totally worth the money! We were here on vacation waiting to get on our cruise. The scenery is incredible. Alaska is definitely one of the most beautiful states I've ever been to. I think we paid 50 or $60 per person to get to the top of the mountain. I would absolutely do it again.

This was surprisingly the best stop we made between Anchorage and Seward, and one of our top 3 things we did in Alaska. By reading the website, I thought it was just a tram ride up and down, instead there was tons to do at the top! Tickets: Tram rides leave very often, so you'll have no problems getting on one throughout the day. There are plenty of tickets available, so you can buy the day of. Lots of military/veteran, student, and senior discounts available. Tram: It's standing room only, but not a very long ride. Glass views all around and good for pictures. Tram Alternative: There is a hike that goes from the base to the top. It's dirt and a lot of switch backs, but excellent exercise! Hikers can take the tram down for free, but ticketed passengers get first dibs. At the Top: Once you get off the tram at the top, there is a hiking trail that will take you further up the mountain for breathtaking views. Well worth the climb! Even in August there was still some snow up there. There is also a restaurant (pick-up & find a seat no servers) and a bar. You can take your brew outside and enjoy the views while sipping on a cold beer or cocktail. There is also a gift shop. Great for families, friends, couples or solo! All ability levels as well.

A bit pricey but definitely worth it. Spectacular views and you don't have to climb a mountain for it. I also want to note that all the folks running the tram were very nice and very helpful.

A quick 4.5 minute ride from the bottom to the top - elevation of 2000ft gain. Unfortunately, today mother nature took her toll. The fog rolled in and all we saw was the white background. There are restaurants on top, one is a 4 diamond restaurant with reservations required while the other restaurant is more casual. Would be an amazing place to visit and have a lovely dinner with spectacular views on a clear, sunny day.

This was one of the most amazing things we did on our trip to Alaska. We didn't have a true plan for the first few days in the State, but finding this was a gem for sure. Go to the top with the tram and the views are stunning, having lunch at the top was a real treat. Seeing glaciers up close was breathtaking.

At first I thought it was a bit expensive, but it’s worth every penny. Clean, safe ride with friendly staff. The mountain top was very cool with wildlife (saw a bear on the way up), wildflowers, and great views. Amazing views but Expensive ($48pp) ! There are seven glacier views on top which is definitely amazing and a short hike to go to higher elevation to view glaciers but I don’t recommend going all the way to the top. Me & my husband felt there is not much difference in the views even after the hike which is steep & slippery (wear hiking shoes). Alaska has many glaciers, so you can see them even while driving or stopping at overlooks. So take this tram only if you really want to go. Otherwise you can skip it. Same seven glaciers can be seen from the road while driving toward Seward from Girdwood.

I have gone multiple times! In summer and winter for snowboarding! Always a fun ride and breathtaking views. If you have never taken a ride it is worth the trip at least once! Price seems steep but it is Alaska! Alyeska resort! I have not had any of the food or extra stuff. You should just save your money on that part but that is my opinion.

Tram was so much fun! Seemed pricey but once we got up there we could see why. Absolutely amazing views!

A gorgeous view even on a cloudy day. A two mile hike up to the lookout from the roundhouse and restaurant and a tram ride down. Unless you really feel energetic and want to hike the two mile hike back down. It is a do-able steep. I don't recommend it to someone that's really out of shape. The ride down is free. If you choose to ride the tram up it cost $90. for my wife and I both unless you order the meal vouchers which I did so I paid $120.00 for the both of us to be used at the restaurant up on top. If you want to eat at the fine dining restaurant I recommend getting online and ordering in advance. The closest day available was two days out. Prices were a little spendy as you might imagine. I thought it was worth it.

A 4-5 minutes lift ride up the mountains. The height of the mountains is at 2000 ft and tram is every 15 minutes up. Cost- it's $48 per adult and $60 / adult which includes food at the restaurant in the top. Personally I feel it's very expensive just to go on the top..but views are definitely amazing. It completely depend on the weather if it's cloudy or sunny to see the views. You can also hike the top which is steep hike and coming down is free!!! Deli- we got the $25 coupon for food and had a black bean burger with cocktail on the top.

If you are staying in Anchorage and you have half a day available But you want visit a good place and enjoy a boat ride and see Glacier? You can accomplish all of that at Portage Glacier. Nice peacefull sail. Just sit back and enjoy. Even in July you will need some heavy clothing. Nice place to visit and beauty all around the highway as well. If you are lucky (like we were), you may see black bear along with the glacier. Good luck!!

We were lucky enough to visit it on a cloudy day. I think that was the best condition to capture the glacier's bluish color. We booked this tour in Anchorage and it included the Alaska wildlife conservation center and Alyeska resort. Both places are worth it, but the glacier is the gem. The whole day's experience was unforgettable. When the boat was not far from the glacier the huge chunk of ice calved into the water with a loud splash. That was a sad reminder of the glacier's progressing recession.

Winter Hike March 2023 Went out on the lake to go see the face of Portage ! Took us about 2.5 hrs for roundtrip. It looks short but it's definitely a long walk. It is extremely windy. Cover any skin and wear sunglasses. Highly recommend, your efforts will be rewarded !

This was a moderately difficult hike- The first part having a steep incline. The trail takes you to a black sand beach with gorgeous views of the glacier and surrounding mountains. We are in our early 30s and are fit. I would advise caution for the elder.

Came here with some friends on June 7th. Overall it's a BEAUTIFUL hike, with a lot of variety. Probably my favorite hike I trekked in Alaska. I actually hiked this TWICE in one day cuz I left my wallet (long story) near the glacier the first time and had to go back to find it. The hike starts kind of steep with a rocky bit, but takes you to the first mini summit which looks back over the parking lot/lake area. That itself is a super cool view (which we experienced coming back) but going up there was a crazy thick fog which gave everything a Lord of the Rings Shire/Hobbit feel. Super cool. The weather changed a bunch over the course of the day, a lot of the high bits being covered in clouds.... Despite that, and the light rain we got, there were still good views of the lake and glacier as we came in (both higher, overlooking the main lake, and at the lakes edge). The clouds cleared as the day went on, but rolled back again quick, so just keep the weather volitility in mind as that plays a factor in how enjoyable the views might be. Maybe 15% of the overall trail was snowy bits. As some others said here, bring some gold water proof hiking boots and an extra pair of socks for when you get back as your boots will see a lot of moisture. The snow was not very difficult to traverse (a few uphill moments in the snow made it more strenuous, but it was still upper moderate difficulty). There is a smaller mini lake half way thru the path (some waterfalls in the distant feeds the river run offs, which is really beautiful!), and 2 large geese/swan birds were floating elegantly there. Pretty much the most prime real estate a bird could ever get. :p Just a gorgeous place.... Once you get to the bottom, you have a nice view of Portage Glacier, but there is still a lake separating you from it. Most people spend time on the beach there then return. I wanted to touch the glacier, which required another 45 minute hike around the edge of the lake, including wading a rather large river feeding the lake (the water went up to my waste! - and I'm 6'2") and crossing a few other smaller feeding creeks. - the first time I went I just crossed wearing jeans and my boots, which got soaked, and it was freezing! (yeah... Duh. I know. :p) The current was preeety strong too and the friend I waded across with lost his balance coming back and went all in right at the end. - the 2nd time back I wore some waders and crossing was much easier & drier. (still took a bit of patience as the river is strong and wide where I crossed). BIGGEST CONCERN FOR FUTURE HIKERS: as snow melts more, sometimes your foot can break thru some of the snow, especially near the melted edges thst tend to melt in a hollowed out form... We had a few mini break throughs that went ankle deep and got our boots wet a little. Nothing major, but something to be aware about. As the weather cleared, new incredible views of the surrounding mountains & waterfalls appeared, making this a top notch, diverse hike. :) Be careful of deveating off the trail.... We "explored" a few tangent trails, which were fun, but got confused a little at one point trying to get back to the main trail. Pretty much, be careful to stick to the main trail, and you shouldn't have a problem.

Beautiful place to go. My family comes here to hike often. We have gotten to see broken off pieces of the glacier in the lake but can't wait to come back during summer to see the glacier by tour. Very convenient to have campgrounds ands so many trails in the area and some great fishing spots all close.

One of the best places in Chugach Mountain area to explore. It’s not that far from anchorage, about an hour drive to the cruise site. There are several options for cruise but We took the one hour cruise tour and it was worth the price. The lake is frozen during winter and even in summer time it’s cold! Beware of frostbite and take precautions with all the necessary stuff like gloves, beanie and a good jacket and boots. Also make sure to carry item like a raincoat or umbrella cause it literally rains most of the time.

Hurry up and see it before global warming makes it extinct. Took a boat tour. It’s was so cool! And it’s melting. Held a piece in my hand. Bring your bug spray!

June 2018 Easy hike in a nearby trail for glacier view as well as affordable 1hr cruise. Nice view at ground level or above. It’s a good stop along the way.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO! Way overpriced!! Not remotely close to a 5 star resort at all!! The location is gorgeous, I hear the spa is fantastic… if you can even get an appointment. The discounts for being an overnight guest aren’t very good, especially considering that non overnight guests get to use the same facilities as guests do. The lobby is lovely but the rooms are motel 6 quality. Staff isn’t friendly or informative. Zero signage to let you know where things like restaurants, gift stores, parking, or shuttle pickup is located. If you’re handicapped the amount of stairs to get to the pool and other amenities wouldn’t be wheelchair accessible and neither is the pool itself. Parking and hauling your own luggage and ski gear 1/4 of a mile away from the hotel isn’t a great way to start your experience. Valet/ bell hop assistance was non existent. Go for the day, enjoy the scenery, enjoy the VERY few amenities you can, but stay overnight in Anchorage at a FAR better hotel for WAY less money that has better choices of restaurants and watering holes. For $500 a night you could have a better hotel, better restaurants and bars, nicer staff, better shopping options and still enjoy the pool, hot tub, spa, gym, arial tram, and skiing at the resort. I’m not terribly surprised, as it’s typical of Canadian owned resorts to be unfriendly and overpriced.

Stayed here for a couple of nights with my daughter. The room was very clean, with a gorgeous view! The beds were great, but I wish I could have cooled the room just a bit. I did, however, very much appreciate the fan provided. Robes in room for pool reservations is a nice touch. Riding the tram to the top was gorgeous and not as scary as I expected. Once at the top, we had a lovely view, but lines were way too long to get a drink or food. We visited the spa for a day, and that was exceptional. The room service was mediocre, ordered spicy chicken but without knowing it was missing all the toppings and tasted like fish, that was a waste. However, Bessy at the front desk made it right and did not make me feel bad for mentioning it. The walk from the resort to the Sitzmark was beautiful and highly recommended if one mile isn't too far for you. Overall, it was a great experience and I will hold these memories for life.

I went here for skiing this past winter, and while I usually only go for a day trip I decided to stay at the resort this time for a week. I must say what a beautiful location and thrill it was to be there. The rooms are definitely not new but worked for me just fine. I recently came back this summer to hike some of the trails near that area for the first time. It's all stunningly beautiful but that parking lot still annoyed me as its badly designed.

Alyeska Resort, is a wonderful place to stay in the summer. I highly recommend the gondola, the views are incredible and at the top, there is great place to have a soda, or drink! If you prefer... you can hike to the top, which I am told is about a two and a half hour climbing trek. Everyone was so nice. I cannot imagine how much fun this ski resort is in the winter!! Great for all ages!!

I've had consistently positive experiences with hotels. They offer great comfort, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I appreciate the clean rooms, friendly staff, and convenient amenities. Whether for business or leisure, hotels have consistently met my expectations, making my stays enjoyable and hassle-free.

Great place to stay and scenic location. The drive from Anchorage to the resort is such a pleasant surprise as it is beautiful all around. No northern lights like their website boasts as if the probability is high. Beds are comfortable. Restaurants could use some help though - food is average.

As an AK resident it's still a treat to visit the resort. The staff was extremely kind and accommodating allowing us an early check in/late check out. The beds are comfy and the bathroom/room was extremely clean. The salt water pool is great temp and of they provide plenty of towels and of course comfy robes. We will definitely be back soon!! I do wish they would still offer residential rates for us locals :)

The best pool I've been in. Nice and warm, the salt water is so relaxing. Then to the hot tub for the awesome views of skaters and skiers while soaking in the steamy waters! The restaurant was very clean and so peaceful for breakfast, sitting there enjoying our coffee and watching the sun come over the mountain. The breakfast was well prepared and we opted for the buffet. We were very happy with the price and quality of the offerings. The resort was warm and welcoming and the staff was so helpful and friendly. Our room was very clean and everything functioned properly. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable and romantic and we would be very happy to return.

The room was nice, service good, however the food for someone who needs gluten-free options SUCKS! To have about 6 items (3 from in room food with a 20% mark up) that I can eat for a high end resort isn't acceptable to me. The salad I ordered with halibut on it was super small my guess maybe 2 at most 3 oz. My son and husband enjoyed the food. The brussle sprout salad was really good. There was no fries or chips and salsa is also disappointing. We did overall enjoy the overall vibe, but didn't like the limited food options. Food update: this is what I got for my gluten free pizza, it doesn't even have pepperoni on it like the menu says. Hardly any sauce.

We did not stay at the hotel. Day trip to the new Nordic Spa! Absolutely Fabulous! Well layed out and the scenery was great. We had a great time in the hot tubs and saunas. Getting out of the hot water and into the cold water pools was is invigorating! The staff we are friendly and professional. We will definitely be coming back!!

This resort is overpriced for how run-down the rooms are. The wallpaper was peeling from the walls, half the outlets didn't work, and the walls are paper thin. The main parking lot is so small, and the overflow lot is quite the walk to the hotel. The employees are great and friendly. It's convenient if you are spending several days on the mountain, but I will just stay in Anchorage next time.

This is a beautiful lodge in a wonderful location. The rooms are ample, but a bit dated. They are clean and the rooms have tubs/showers. The tram is located at this location. The hotel restaurant very nice but the menu is limited. The bar/grill and snack bar have limited hours. The gift shop is one of the best I've seen. This is a good location for all seasons including winter. The rooms include benches with storage for ski boots just outside the room.

Amazing resort. Probably the best place we stayed the entire two weeks traveling around Alaska. I had the best sleep here. Gorgeous property, well maintained trails, perfect rooms, lovely Nordic spa, nice staff. Will definitely come back to spend more time here.

Absolutely disappointed in the quality and presentation of this "resort". The rooms have peeling walls, stained carpets, carpets coming up in places, a horrendous smell to the linens and nicotine stained walls. The television in our room was manufactured in the late 90s and was so grainy you couldn't even watch it. The bathroom walls were beyond disgusting! Every amenity they list was either unavailable or booked solid. We stayed in our room 45 minutes out of a 5 day booked stay! We both decided it was worth the loss to just leave and find something more suited to our stay-cation needs. This is NOT what I would call a "resort". The surrounding beauty of the mountains is amazing but the hotel itself is failing dramatically. I would not stay here again, I would not recommend the "resort" to anyone to be honest. We were so excited to stay there and so disappointed to have to leave within minutes of checking in. Save your money and the disappointment find something better, it's not what you would expect and the images they use to advertise are grossly misleading.

My husband and I flew from Florida to Alaska for this resort for our one year anniversary. Long story short, no employees except Kevin (who was great and talked with us while he brought our luggage up) even cared about telling us about the resort or answering our questions. The front desk couldn't tell us where to get breakfast or even care to try. We had no idea about anything. [Cut to] trying to get ski lessons: we walked aimlessly around the mountain and asked about 5 different employees about taking ski lessons (the resort has a school) and again, no one could tell us anything. Was offered a phone number for the mountain manager, Mr Donaldson, left a message, and never heard anything. We had money to spend and it seemed like we couldn't find anyone who wanted our business! It was so disappointing that we checked out 2 days early and flew back home to Florida. My husband left his Bose headphones there and I had to make 3 phone calls and speak to the reservation manager before the headphones were "found" by housekeeping and security. I'm not saying anyone was stealing, but I feel like no one tried to find our $300 headphones. Michael the reservation manager (I think that's his name?) And Kevin at the front deserve shout outs because they truly went above and beyond but seriously STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL AND ITS OLD ROOMS until they can get their staff PROPERLY TRAINED I waited to post this because I was told I would get a survey from the hotel and I was going to put this info there but I never got it so I thought I'd warn others to be weary of this place...

What a shame. Such a beautiful location and this hotel has seen better days and probably better management. The rooms are outdated as others have pointed out. They don’t have a list of activities on property. You just have to wander around to figure it out. They nickel and dime for everything. $27 a day to valet a car and force people to park in a remote lot and drag luggage uphill through snow and ice? There are no outside food delivery services available so you’re stuck eating their food that is mediocre at best and severely overpriced. $4 for a Pepsi? $8 for a Corona? Disappointing experience. They need to fire their IT people as the Internet was ridiculously slow throughout the property. The staff was frustrated because a simple credit card charge took 2 minutes. The amount of computer keystrokes and processes to perform simple tasks is unbelievable. I feel sorry for the staff because they really try but have inadequate resources to perform their job. This place needs some love.

One of my favorite ski areas in the world. Christmas chute and others are completely unparalleled for x factor accessible right off the top of the lift. It honestly beats Big Sky and Alta in that regard. The downside to this resort is it takes absolutely ages for patrol to open terrain, sometimes never. Other resorts have similar avalanche hazard and open terrain far sooner after a storm. Is it just a lack of patrol? No clue.

I was raised in Alaska and have experienced staying at Alyeska resort plenty of times since childhood. This weekend was my first time (as an adult) paying to stay at the resort I was disappointed at the state of the room. Furniture and interior have been the same since the 90s or even later. The desk chair in our room had so many stains and the sitting chair felt dirty (like it needed to be steam cleaned or thrown away really) The other furniture had so many scratches. The phone looked like it hadn’t been dusted in a while. The wallpaper and lamps are a very unfortunate cream color that has probably been there since the beginning of time. If they allowed smoking in these rooms I’m sure it would look and smell like it was straight from the 70s. The bathroom was clean at least. Staff was nice and for the most part accommodating. Pool was clean and relaxing. I didn’t get much sleep though because I wasn’t able to change the temperature in the room so I was hot and extremely uncomfortable the whole night. It needs some TLC for sure especially for the price you’re paying.

Didn't stay here, just drove up from Palmer to visit. Very pretty area and gorgeous place. Very quiet. I can only imagine what it looks like during the ski season. One reason we came here was for the bakery near by, but it was closed 😢 heard great things about it. Maybe next time.

I have stayed at Alyeska a few times now. Always for special occasions. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but don't stand out much from your standard hotel space. The main "selling point" being the location, and your room might have a good view out the window. The staff and service is always top notch. Good opportunity for skiing/snowboarding, local hiking trails, and the Nordic Spa with Hydrotherapy. Food is great, but can be a bit limited depending on your schedule.

Good infrastructure. Great spaces. But this cannot be considered a luxury property. Beat up paint. Waves in the carpet. Lights not working. Mismatched furniture. Just needs a lot of cosmetic work to justify the price. The spa is much newer and nice.

Stunning resort set in beautiful surroundings. Room was modern, I assume renovated fairly recently. Usual fixtures (coffee machine, fridge, tv, bathrobes etc...) Hotel had lots of common areas that I imagine during high season can be busy but during our stay (Early Sept) we felt like we had the place to ourselves. There are a range of food options for all budgets, and a couple of shops. Area is great for leisurely walks, or up the mountain which I didn't dare but saw lots brave it. We didn't visit the spa, or the pool so cannot speak to those.

This is a truly beautiful place. Everyone who we encountered that worked here was the absolute sweetest, and we had the best time riding the gondola to the top and doing a hike around the mountain. Really wish we could have done the new sky bridges! Really hope I get to go back someday! Best spa I have ever been to!

I recently visited the hydrotherapy at the spa. It was a beautiful winter escape with the snow-capped trees and saunas. The lockers contain a robe, slippers, and towel with exfoliating scrub. The staff is very professional and was helpful with instructions upon arrival and recommendations for making the most of the day. The locker rooms were clean and well equipped with showers, toilets, a vanity area with provided hair dryers, curling, flat irons, and make remover with cotton pads. There are water bottle filling stations conveniently located throughout, and you should definitely plan to tote one around. Additionally, there is a warm tea and fruit infused cold water station at the entrance to pools. The showers did get a little dirty towards the end of the day, but the provided slippers gave peace of mind. The cafe was perfectly situated for a mid day break and snack to rehydrate and refuel. A good variety of fresh, delicious food and mocktails and cocktails or warm beverages. I would highly recommend the full day package to fully experience the hydrotherapy and have time to revisit your favorites. The crowding was minimal during the daytime and picked up around dinner time, likely due to the discounted twilight option. I would highly recommend the experience and plan to return.

I was fortunate to stay here Monday to Friday and it was incredible. The rooms were beautiful, service was top notch and plenty of amenities but what put it over the top was all those things in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Surrounded completely by the mountains at the lodge, a quick 10 minute ride up the tram has you towering above them. If this place isn't on your bucket list, add it immediately. I was also lucky enough to preview the Black Diamond Lounge on the 8th floor while I was there and it is amazing. Once it opens, getting people to leave and enjoy the rest of the resort might be impossible.

Wonderful stay at Alyeska resort. This mountain is a little low in elevation and as such, the lower third of the mountain often receives rain and the snow is sometimes heavy. The pool area is great. The outer skiing areas are excellent but unfortunately they are often closed. If you're there for a ski trip, I would recommend looking into a heli day to get to some great snow.

We enjoyed our two nights at the Alyeska. We don’t ski but enjoyed the views and property. Booked in the refurbished section and it was very well done so I highly recommend that based on what others say about non-renovated rooms. As noted by others, the inside is a bit tired and in need of some refurb, but with the amount of ski traffic going in and out it actually seems decent. Restaurants seem to have odd hours so we walked over to the Sitzmark both nights. One major flaw that needs to be fixed - that there is only one place to get coffee in the morning is a travesty for a ski resort. Especially when there are no coffee supplies in the rooms. Honestly a free filter coffee station would be amazing with basic creams and sugars. Those that want special coffees can go to the shop, with hopefully added employees other than the one lady powering through all the orders that included food. The wait for some was over 30 minutes. Overall service was very good. Would definitely stay again.

Goldilocks approved. So much right about this resort. The 8th floor has been redone recently and has a great vibe. Comfy bed, great views. Not too posh and not too rustic. Spa is great- and the spa restaurant might be the best place to dine on the property. Skiing was incredible and this is as ski in and ski out as they come. Nice rental shop, free ski concierge.

Alyeska skiing can be hit or miss. It’s great when it’s blower pow or bluebird skiing with ripping groomers. As a lifelong Alaskan who has moved south, I can say it’s a pretty awesome place when the skiing is perfect and it’s pretty miss when it’s not: as in raining top to bottom and closed upper mountain. The views are a five. The mountain amenities are a four. The food and beverage scene can be better. Price points are pretty high. I haven’t stayed at the hotel in a while but, they can afford to do some updating to the rooms that have been the same since I was 13 years old. The Nordic spa is what is really a game changer for the place. Overall; it is a must see/do when visiting Alaska. The North face is some of the most fun and technical skiing you will do in a resort. The people are just as funky as the Sitzmark. It’s definitely got something for everyone. And if you know you know; See Big Wave Dave for A Fizz- only at the tram house.

Staff is fantastic. Polite, friendly and accommodated our requests. The Asian restaurant is amazing! Rooms as read are hot. The hotel is a little dated as well, but we had everything we needed. Thanks for making our stay great.

I've skied Alyeska for 60 years and I've seen many changes, upgrades, problems, etc,,, It is an absolutely beautiful area with great views. Renovations are ongoing right now to rooms and a new restaurant. We lucked out and stayed 3 days in a newly updated room. Very nice although a microwave is needed to reheat resort restaurant food. My wife and I experienced nothing but excellent, friendly, and energetic service from all staff members every day. I did sense a sort of disconnect between hotel operation staff members as if they were all not exactly on the same page. Experience tells me there IS a management problem. I trust they'll get it figured out. It is truly a wonderful place with great potential 👍

We used the day pass for the ski resort, and it was great! I have no complaints. Brett, at the rental station, really room absolute care of us. He helped the five of us so much, and is definitely the star of our trip. Thank you so much Brett! Highly recommend!

Leaving 4 stars because I felt like the rooms themselves and dining options left some to be desired for the price of the stay. The rooms and some parts of the lodge felt quite dated and there is a small cafe but other breakfast options were quite pricey. That being said, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the ski in ski out experience was top notch, and we loved relaxing in the mountain-view hot tub after riding.

Took the kids here to have them learn what panning for gold truly entailed. While we found only specs of gold, it was worth the adventure and gave them a better appreciation of what a hard living gold panning was. No guarentee you will find any gold in the creek. Friendly dog and cat on premise. Cool little museum town to explore, lots of hiking, camping space (no hook-ups). The drive to/from the mine is interesting. The views are great also.

What a fantastic facility for a wedding! Even with down pour rain Kate and her staff made the day amazing and unforgettable! Crow Creek Mine is the most scenic place in Girdwood, and there are so many great options for wedding photos on your big day! I would highly recommend getting married or hosting an event at Crow Creek Mine! Will definitely be coming back in the future! Thank you so much for making our day incredible and beautiful! You can really tell how much hard work is put into the grounds! Thank you!

We came here for the kids to pan for gold. The pay dirt had flakes of gold in it do they all got to experience finding gold in their pans. There are beautiful old mining buildings with plenty of history. The kids only found one other flake in the river in an hour, but they still had fun. The gardens are beautiful. There are campgrounds for small RVs for nightly use without hookup if you would like to stay away from the busy campgrounds.

This location is BEAUTIFUL! My kids had a ball panning for gold, and I had a ball taking pictures around the property. There's a dozen adorable old fashioned houses, complete with antique furniture and furnishings. Flowers are *everywhere* and they were beautiful! The river is picturesque, with lots of adventurous places for kids to dig and try their luck. My son was in heaven! We all had a great time!

Great family outdoor time. Cooper walked to the creek with us and hung out in the cold water the entire 4 hours. Didn't find many flakes, but it was fun and kept us entertained. Hunting for gold was on the top of our AK adventure. Lots of history here.

Just a wonderful time panning for gold in the creek. It was rainy, but we actually got a few pieces of gold. The building and grounds were very well kept and interesting. I love History, this was a great look back in time. Fun Time !!

Great tourist or local attraction! It has the miners' cabins left as it was, and awesome trails to walk. Highly recommend.

We booked a night of camping here so that we would be closer to Anchorage to return our RV the following morning. This is a beautiful little place located less than an hour from the city. Exploring the historic buildings and panning for gold were both fun, but probably only occupied us for an hour or two. The campsite we stayed in was generously sized and located right next to a babbling stream. There are no hookups of any kind, but the environment is so much more quiet and relaxing than the large RV parks.

Annual hike ! Super Kids And pets friendly ! Pick fiddle head fern and devil’s club In May & June, berries in August and mushrooms in September. Love the hand tram and one way hike to Alyeska or return after the gorge for round trip hike !

Lovely hike to the creek. Hand tram is closed at this time with no reopening date posted. We did the short hike starting from Winner Creek Trailhead so it was a mile each way. Despite the disappointment, we walked down to the creek and found a nice little pebble beach to relax at for a few minutes and enjoyed views of a rushing waterfall.

Loved it. Fairly easy trail for my family. We got there early in the morning, so no wait to hop on the hand tram.

One of the most unique hikes I have found near the Anchorage area of Alaska. Extremely accessible. The trail to the hand tram is beautiful with cool plank style walkways, captivating mossy terrain, and its maintained well by the chugach state park trail staff. There was guys clearing dead/hazardous trees off the trail as we were hiking it. They were cool enough to give us a little education on the trees of the area as well. The waterfalls on this hike are beautiful as well. The hand tram is extremely fun and intuitive. Not to mention free. Didnt expect it to be like this but wow does it add another layer to a hike! Theres also a trail sign in sheet just in case you go missing which is interesting and a nice thing to see. Would highly recommend this trail and the hand tram for a different kind of trail experience.

Awesome, fresh air, ion shower from trees, air and anything great around here. A beautiful 1 hour quick hike with beautiful forest and of course the hand tram finishing it off

Hand Tram had not been opened for the season yet. But hike to it and the views of the creek were well worth the trip.

Best last experience I had with one one my friend that were leaving the United States. Unfortunately the hand tram was closed down but we still had a great adventure in the woods on this beautiful hike.
